Artemis would slowly make her way around the ship. It seems that they had been resupplying at the same time as choosing a person to take with them on this adventure of sorts. There was a time when she herself would have been in a vessel just like this, if not larger depending on the ship that she decided to commandeer for herself on any specific day. The Somerset fleet was never short on boats, and Artemis’ own flagship was still in the works. However, she did have the pick and the right to almost every single vessel docked at Hapshass, so she never had problems with choosing what suited her fancy for a sailing trip. But, she knew just how long it took to resupply a ship, at least, properly resupply it. The Captain of this specific vessel, Verona de la Rouge, seemed like a woman who liked to be prepared for any type of situation, though haughty she might seem to be. She had a level head on her, from what she had gathered, and so there was no mistake in choosing her vessel for the job. Though, she knew that they had to be quick about it, since some of the other competitors are starting to mobilize to leave the dock fairly soon. She knew that time was of the essence, and while she herself could outpace the ships using her transportation magic. Artemis knew that that was not a viable option. No, she needed to be patient, and hoped that The Fury of the Depths would be able to hoist its anchor and sail away sooner rather than later.[break][break] “Don’t fret, lassie. This ship is one of the fastest in the whole Clover Kingdom! Even if we’re just a wee bit late in casting off, we’ll be able to catch them without any problems at all. In fact, even if we casted off an hour later, we’d still catch up to them without any problems! So keep faith in ye boat.”[break][break]
Artemis would nod at the random crew member who tried to placate her worries. It seems that her emotions were starting to show in her facial expressions. This had never happened before, and she knew that Lydia was the one responsible for her emotions suddenly coming back up to the surface. There was little she could do but open up to the woman, whom she had feelings for intensely, yet she feared her emotions bubbling out and causing her to do something untoward. It was the reason why she had decided to once again take up meditation. The last time she had done it was during her Ki training, and then before that, when she had been learning to curb her desire for stealing. It was an exercise taught to her by her mentors, and she knew that she would have to take it up once again.[break][break]
Turning around, she found herself staring at the woman who was the captain of the ship. Verona de la Rouge was looking at her with piqued interest, though Artemis herself stared back with equal intensity. She would be gestured to come closer, and as the Master of the Ship, Artemis had little choice but to comply.
There was little doubt that Captain Verona de la Rouge was a woman of great skill and possessed a great mind. They had been discussing plans on how to go about this expedition of sorts, and truthfully, she could see herself in the Captain. Her adventurous spirit was very much rife, and Artemis would have to try and recruit the woman and her shipt o be a part of the Somerset fleet. However, she would leave the talk of business later on, for now, the Captain was taking her up to the helm of the ship, where the wheel was. From what she could see, there was a man already there, most likely the First Mate of the ship itself. Looking back towards land, she found herself mildly surprised by how fast they were going, and how far they had reached in just a few moments being out in sea.[break][break]
“You saw that too, hey? The Fury of the Depths is one of the fastest ships in the Clover Kingdom. You should know about that already, shouldn’t you. Our reputation precedes us, and our visits to the ports of Hapshass would have been known to the Somerset family.”[break][break]
Artemis would shrug, “The Fury of the Depths has always been one of the ships that we have been keeping at eye out for. We’ve seen it in Hapshass, and suffice to say have studied its hull and its sail design.” She did not sugarcoat the fact that the ship was very much of interest to her and her family. “Though this is the first time I’ve step afoot on the ship, I have already quite a bit of knowledge on its design.”[break][break]
“Hoho! You have knowledge on my ship, hey? Then, how about it? Show us what the Somersets pride themselves to be, show us the skill that you are so well known in having in seafaring?”[break][break]
It was a challenge, and Artemis was not one to deny herself of a challenge. [break][break]
Artemis took the wheel from the helmsman, who seemed reluctant to leave his charge. As Artemis gripped the wooden material, she found herself cursing. “Storm.” She pointed towards the horizon, to which Verona only grinned at. “So you knew, hm?” Artemis shook her head, “You wanted me to steer us from this storm, hm?”[break][break]
With no further words spoken, Artemis took charge as she issued orders from the helm. Quickly, the crew members abided by the woman’s orders, especially since their Captain was glaring at them from the helm beside the Green Mantis Magic Knight. The Fury of the Depths had slim sails, and a sleek build. Instead of pushing through, they needed to skim through the waves. It was that technique that Artemis did.[break][break]
As the storm hit them, and the waves started crashing, Artemis took hold of the wheel and steered them through the smaller waves, making sure to never face a larger one head on. The sails were furled and kept, instead of letting the wind fight against the waves carrying them. The nightmare took about an hour, but in the end, they were able to get through without a hitch.
