HANS WALKER
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness,
you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
"I see." Hans claimed as he tried to recollect the moments before he ended up back on the surface. He remembers getting injured by one of those sirens, and he also remembers an explosion that occurred before blacking out. This made the merc instinctively look at his hand, the one that once had that ring. There were no injuries there...nor were there any injuries where the siren struck him at.
Before he could inquire about this, Hans was bombarded with questions by the worried elf. "I-I'm fine." The concerned tone in Suna's voice, and the way she inspected the dark mage, Hans wasn't sure how to react. It felt weird having someone care for Hans like this...but it was also nice. It caused the knots in the dark mage's stomach to tighten. He watched the elf, silently admiring her until the two elderly women interrupted, quickly reminding the man that he wasn't out here on some romantic boat ride...a thought he was very much surprise to have!
The dark mage then looked out at the lake just as Suna did, and took notice of the chest being quickly dragged down. "Dammit...We need to get th-" As he turned to look at Suna again, Hans noticed that she was staring back at him. With his mouth slowly shutting, the merc had a somewhat puzzled look on his features, but they loosened up a bit. Maybe it was the wooziness he was still feeling, but Hans couldn't help but to see the woman in front of him differently. It was like he was just now noticing how nice her eyes are, how sweet her face looks, and that long blue hair that compliments her eyes. Even the way her hair hid her face...it was like Hans was meeting her for the very first time.
With some hesitation in her tone, the elf jumped into the water after the chest as the man's head turned to the direction she went to. Hans exhaled out of his mouth, and closed his eyes. He shook his head, trying to get these thoughts out of his head, but they were growing harder to ignore.
Hans watched the lake carefully and the elderly twins did the same from afar, waiting for Suna to return. Getting a bit worried, the dark mage was just about to jump back in until he noticed a disturbance in the water. Suna rose from the water successfully with chest in hand!
A sigh of relief escaped Hans' lips. The chest is fine and all, but he was glad that the elf was unharmed. It was quite the opposite for Agatha and Greta however...
"It's about time!" Greta claimed before giving Agatha a double high five. "Get your keesters back on land!" Agatha demanded.
Hans caught the chest and placed it on the boat before extending a hand out to Suna in case she needed help getting back on. If everything was fine, the merc would place his and equipment back on and begin rowing the two back towards land. Hans was quiet at first. He appeared to be looking at the chest, but his mind was elsewhere. "Hey." He looked over at Suna once again, opening his mouth as if he were going to say something before closing it. After a few more seconds, he'd try again.
"Are you..." the guy paused once again. "...I'm glad you're alright." He claimed, despite himself being the only one who took any big damage. The merc averted his eyes, trying not to stare.
Once the boat was finally back at land, the elderly twins came up to the boat and immediately nabbed the chest! "Yoink!" Greta and Agatha placed the chest onto the land, facing it away from the two mages. Hans wasn't sure what to think about this as he stepped off of the boat. Greta, the one who initially sought the two mage's for help opened the chest, and a very bright glow could be seen. One would usually shield their eyes if they were as close to that chest as the two women, but they didn't seem phased by it, only looking more enthusiastic. "We hit the jackpot, sis!" Agatha claimed just as Hans walked towards them.
"What's in the chest?" Just as this question was asked, Greta immediately closed the chest. "Th-that's none of your concern, deary." she claimed with an ominously sweet smile before walking over to the dark mage. "But don't you fret...." she said before digging into her pocket. "You both will still be getting paid." As she said this, the elderly woman took out some loose change...and lint. She placed some into Hans' hand before heading to Suna if she were there.
"The hell..." Hans looked at what he was given in disbelief. He turned to face Greta again with a less than satisfied look on his face. Even with her back at him, Greta could feel the eyes glaring at her and sighed. "You youths and your greed." Greta shook her head before clasping her hands together. As she slowly pulled her hands apart, a small white glowing orb appeared, floating in between them. It was about the same size as a baseball and was given off an interesting mana signature. "Wow, you're really gonna give them that, sis?" Agatha asked, looking a bit surprised.
Without saying anything, Greta attempted to hand the orb to Suna, and if she took it, the elderly woman would conjure up another one and take it to Hans who took it with a some hesitance, and started to inspect it. The orb felt soothingly warm, and powerful. Before he could even ask, Greta started to speak. "These orbs of mana will grant each of you a boost in your magic, but they only have a one time use so choose wisely when to activate them." Greta claimed as she walked back to her sister and the chest. "We could all use a little pick me up once in a while, hm?" Greta and Agatha smiled at the two youths. Hans looked at them for a second before inspecting the orb once more.
"How does this wor-" As he looked back up, Hans let out a small gasp as he noticed that the two women were now gone along with the chest, seemingly vanished without a trace. He looked over at Suna, not sure if she may have witnessed them or not. Although all of this was bothering the man, Hans did not want to dive any further into this. He got his payment...despite it not exactly being what he envisioned and the job was done.
Silence once again fell upon Hans as he dropped the orb into his pocket. "Guess I'll be seeing you around." Hans claimed as he turned himself, and was about to head off before pausing.
"Actually..." He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to gather his words. "Do you...want to grab a drink...or something?" he asked, glancing back at the elf. Now that he has thought about it, the two never seemed to have had time to actually talk, always meeting under dire circumstances. Whether she accepted or not, Hans would leave with another job marked off the list.
