[attr="class","artemistext"] Today was the day.[break][break]
Artemis walked towards the oh so familiar training grounds just outside of the Green Mantis Squad Base. It was the largest one they had, something that she knew they would be needing today. After all, today was the day that Artemis Somerset finally challenged the current Captain, Barron “Hannibal” Castle for the Captain position. She had made her intentions known, and she knew this might just turn out to be one of the hardest fights she would ever come to take part in.[break][break]
Breath in. Breath out.[break][break] “My child, you will do just fine.” Undine would console her chosen, placing a hand on her right shoulder as she floated beside her, flanking. “Know that I will be here to support you through this endeavour, as I always will.”[break][break]
Artemis nodded, taking the support of the Lady Undine as she prepared herself for the fight.[break][break]
Breath in. Breath out.[break][break]
“This fight is pivotal for me, something I have been planning for a very long time now.” Artemis shook her head, “Another step towards my goal of creating a better future for the Green Mantis.” Months of planning, months of training, and it all came down to today. Artemis knew that a lot was at stake in this fight. Not only was her pride on the line, but also the future she envisioned for the Green Mantis. “I will not fail, not today.”[break][break]
Her grimoire would be out then, floating beside her as she waited for the Captain to finally arrive. She would feel his presence, his mana signature, even before he would be visible. Artemis was now high alert, adrenaline threatening to rush through her system.[break][break]

Barron knew this day would come. As he grew closer to his middle age and memories of war and lost friends ravaged his mind, the Captain understood that the soul could only take so much. While he has hoped to stay Captain for another few years, he had grown quite tired lately. The era of old Captains was over. It was the dawn of a new age. He could only hope that they were strong enough warriors to protect the people of Clover.
So long ago he had been a petty criminal, but far had he come. One of the few Captains who survived the Diamond War, he had became a pillar of ferocity and strength. Recruiting those of lower status and criminality was his specialty, and thus far he had spawned good results. But his mind spiraled further into darkness and despair each passing day. Hannibal needed a vacation. Early retirement was a blessing for a Captain. There was one requirement though; Artemis had to beat him. He did not plan on going easy, therefore she had to truly beat him. The blood mage was not the kind of man to leave his post to anyone who could not handle it. The Daughter of the Sea had proven she was a capable fighter and leader, but she still had much to learn. If she could beat him today, then she would earn her right to move forward along the turbulent path of a Magic Knights Captain. He truly did hope she could defeat him.
As he walked into the training grounds, a smirk crept over his face. Was this the fight he had waited so long for? Would Artemis be the one who finally allowed him to taste sweet defeat? Only this fight could provide the answers for him. As a bloody mana began to creep over him, spikes jutting from his body for a moment before retracting, insatiable blood-lust emitted from his form. His eyes glowing a deep red, Barron was going to go all out. It was his duty as the Green Mantis leader to find out if this woman was ready. You've done well so far, Artemis. Please, give me a good fight. I will not relinquish my spot unless you truly defeat me, but early retirement could prove nice. So give me everything you've got! His sharp white teeth being shown in an aggressive manner, he began to bolt for her. While no immediate spells were shown, he was readying one. What he aimed to see first was her initial move. Then from there they would battle. The finest fight the Green Mantis had ever seen began today.
Artemis stares at her captain, with her hand already leading her grimoire’s pages to the first spell she wanted to cast. Barron did not seem to be leading the fight, and she knew that it would be best for her to be the one doing so. [break][break]
“The old must secede to the new generation,” Artemis would start as she started building her mana up. She knew that this would be a tough fight. After all, Barron did not become a Captain, and one of the only two surviving Captain’s from the Diamond war, without power backing him up. No, she needed to be very careful, meticulous, and smart about this fight. [break][break]
Though, she did have a trump card, something she did not have in the previous fight against the man. [break][break]
Undine herself floated back and away from the fight. She knew that her young charge wanted to prove herself in this fight. While their combined powers could be a boon later on, the spirit knew that her young charge needed to test her own mettle. And, she would oblige. [break][break]
“Black Dawn. Poseidon’s Wrath.” [break][break]
The area around the training was first enveloped with water droplets that were invisible to the naked eye save those who might have enough sensory or were Ki Masters in their own right. Those within it would not only lose vision, but would lose most of their sense, as well as suffocated by the water that surrounded the area. [break][break]
Artemis also sent two waves of water horses towards her Captain. They were illusioned, and could not be sensed properly just like her Black Dawn spell. [break][break]
For now, she wanted to poke at her Captain, to see how he might react to this situation as she readied herself to respond in kind to whatever Barron might do. [break][break]
Observe. Collect information. [break][break]
Knowledge is power, after all.

Name of Spell: Black Dawn[break] Elemental Type: Water[break] Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Creation & Sensory (Illusion)[break] Range & Speed: 150 meters | 110 m AOE[break] Mana Cost: 50 | 25[break] Stats Effected: +12 Power, -12 Sensory[break] Applicable Perks: Master Illusionist, Area of Triumph, Battle Knight, Apex Predator[break] Description: Artemis utilizes her control over water causing water droplets to form around her opponent/s. She imbues an both illusion and attack creation on the water droplets that she conjures. The illusion targets sight, hearing, taste and smell, tricking her opponents and making them see nothing but black all around them, while their hearing, smelling, and mana sensing are also dulled, obscuring all mana sources while they are within the spell. As they are caught within the illusion, the water droplets around them will wrap around the heads of Artemis' opponents, drowning them as they are trapped within the illusion. Through sensory, Artemis is able to pinpoint opponents and target them specifically. She is also able to utilize ammo rule to conjure more than one Black Dawn, following ammo rules on damage. The spell also follows ammo rule for avoiding allies. Those hit by the spell will also have their sensory debuffed, following on debuff rules.[break][break]

Amassing a huge amount of conjured water, the spell itself is a huge tsunami like wave that Artemis can control through her mana. The huge amount of water takes the form of water horses, which visually charges towards Artemis' opponents. The spell itself is coated with an illusion, which masks it from the following senses of her opponents: sight, sound, smell, and mana. At first hit, those hit by Poseidon's Wrath are blinded. The blind effect only happens once per opponent. Artemis is able to create more than one Poseidon's Wrath based on her control, while it follows ammo rule on damage. The spell also follows ammo rule on avoiding allies. Those within the area of effect will have their sensory debuffed following debuff rules.[break]

Standing his ground on the battlefield, Barron felt the power surging from Artemis. He knew that she had a powerful trick up her sleeve, but that did not frighten him--it excited him. For the first time in so long he could go all out with no restraint. Today was a fight that happened once a decade. Ruptured Tempest. As the Captain activated his Ki to see around the water droplets that were surrounding him, a bloodied armor crusted over his body covered in brutal spikes. These spikes extended around his body to shatter any water that attempted to affect him, but he anticipated this would not be her only attack. The water mage was a smart woman--she would have a plan. But he had a plan too, one to completely overwhelm her until one of them collapsed. While it was not foolproof, it would make for one hell of a fight.
Blood flowing around him like endless waterfalls, the form of the Captain leaped up from the ground with titanic strength. The Hunt. Activating another spell, his muscles began to pulse so much that his suit sleeves burst. Boiling blood flowing through his veins, he had an intensely powerful physical presence now. Having enough within him to shatter the ground beneath his feet, he sent the tendrils from his armor into the ceiling of the Green Mantis grounds and stuck to it. He only needed to see the one wave to know that Artemis was coming at him. Her sensory attacks were powerful, but he was still a Ki master and quite adept at battle. Digging his feet into the ceiling, Barron crushed a gargantuan hole into it as he kicked off of it and flew towards his squad member. Tendrils and spikes protruding from both of his blood spells, he aimed to surround her in powerful attacks. She was no fool and likely had something to fight back with, but boy did he want to see what she had planned. Show me that strength Artemis. I can feel the power coursing through your veins. Let's make this a fight to remember!
Name of Spell: Ruptured Tempest Elemental Type: Blood Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack/Reinforcement Range & Speed: 80 m area | 75 m/s Mana Cost: 40 | 20 Stats Effected: +Senior Strength, +19 Power Applicable Perks: Battle Knight, Brute, Signature Spell, Apex Predator, Secret Range. (4.5 m) Description: An armor formed of blood is creates around the user, covered in spikes. The user can extend this armor at will to the maximum range of the spell at rank speed. This can break through most structures and deal fatal piercing as well as blunt damage. This spell also increases the user's strength intensely, allowing them to create destructive attacks.
Name of Spell: The Hunt Elemental Type: Blood Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Physical Reinforcement/Healing Range & Speed: Self | N/A Mana Cost: 40 (20) Stats Effected: +Grand Strength Applicable Perks: Battle Knight, Apex Predator, Vampiric Magic, Master Healer. Description: The user's veins pump with an intense blood magic, vastly increasing their physical strength as well as healing abilities. This allows them to nearly shatter buildings with a punch, and heal most mortal wounds within a post.
Artemis watched as her Captain finally fought back. Of course, she had heard of the rumours that the man was adept at Ki. More than adept, Artemis was seeing the man utilize what she presumed was Ki to see through her spells. She needed to be smarter this time around. Of course, she was also more prepared, yet that would not be enough. Sheer power will get her to places, yet it will not be enough if her dreams were to be achieved. Strength of mind, and strength of body, both were important in Artemis’ eyes.[break][break]
The man would use his element to not only counter her attacks, but also to strike out towards her. Interestingly, Barron would first swing from the ceiling, a weird sight if there was any, and then launch himself towards her. [break][break] “You wanted strength?” Artemis asked as she quickly turned to three different pages of her grimoire. Three spells, all part of her plan. “I shall show you the strength of the next generation.”[break][break]
“Poseidon’s Wrath!”[break][break]
Two water waves would surround Artemis, catching the tendrils’ attack and pushing them back, keeping them at bay as Artemis cast her next two spells.[break][break]
“War-maiden: Lady Sif!”[break][break]
As the woman started transforming, something that Barron would have been privy to since she had used it as well previously to augment her speed and give her the ability of flight, Artemis did not pause, her last spell already on her lips.[break][break]
“Warbringer!”[break][break]
A warship, seventy meters in length, would meet Barron head on as a counter-attack, while Artemis herself backed up a bit more as she flew up into the air. She wanted a better vantage point, and hoped that her Poseidon’s Wrath gave her enough cover and space. Her Warbringer spell would be something new that Barron would never have seen before, and the sight of a large water-made warship would be quite the surprise for the man.[break][break]
The Warbringer would try to crash into Barron head-on, while Artemis watched what the Green Mantis Captain would do to respond. If her Poseidon’s Wrath waves had not been destroyed by the tendrils, Artemis would send those two towards Barron as well. Her hand, however, was once again on her grimoire, and she knew she probably only had a split second to respond.

Instead, it it has a singular cannon in the prow of the ship. While the ship itself can be manipulated by Artemis to ram into enemies, she can also shoot out water cannon balls from its singular cannon on its prow. While Artemis cannot make more than one Warbringer, she can instead create more cannon balls in accordance to ammo rules of a Grand rank spell. The ship itself can be hidden from sight, hearing, and smell, and mana sensing, though Artemis can allow her enemies and allies see the ship itself for intimidation purposes. Using her proficiency in Sensory magic, she is able to make the cannon balls seek its target. Those hit by the spell will also have their sensory debuffed, following on debuff rules, while the blind effect only happens once per opponent.[break]

Barron's Ruptured Tempest was a powerful spell, but it was not without its limits. As it was shattered against the waves, colliding with them in an explosion of power, his mana skin managed to take some damage. He knew that this was going to happen, but he wanted to get as close as he possibly could. Wasting through his Ki was not in his best interest, so he saved it for her next attack. Warbringer, a fitting name for what was to come. Good. Show me the power of an entire generation! Howling throughout the halls of the Green Mantis base, his eyes were filled with bloodlust. You want to see power? He said, activating another spell. Then there's only one thing to do. The dark red hue in his eyes was unlike before, as a spell he had not utilized in their previous fight was now coming to life. Madness was coming.
Archmage level power began to surge around him as he activated it in tandem with another spell. The Ripper. Blood oozed from all of his pores, forming a massive jester wielding a scythe around his body, meanwhile various scythe projectiles also appeared alongside him. Initial Madness! Utilizing the massive scythe that the jester form wielded, he would hold it steady in an attempt to slash through the massive ship known as Warbringer, while two of the scythe projectiles fired off at Artemis. He did not have time to react quickly enough even with his spell's speed, so he merely held it steady to slice the ship in half if he could. Will you be consumed by destruction or will you overwhelm me instead?! Hannibal laughed maniacally as blood overtook the battlefield. The form itself so large that the ceiling of the training grounds burst, rubble and stone falling down everything. The entire base shook as a power on the level it had never seen before was unleashed. He knew she had her own power and this was the only way to force it out. This was not a fight of attrition, it was a fight to see who would be overwhelmed first. There was no long fight here. This was a battle that would merely last minutes, just as Hannibal intended it. But the important question was would Artemis defeat him? The true power lurking deep within her--he wanted to see it.
Name of Spell: The Ripper Elemental Type: Blood Rank & Spell Type: Archmage | Attack Range & Speed: 100 m form | 125 m/s Mana Cost: 64 (32) Stats Effected: +12 power Applicable Perks: Battle Knight, Apex Predator, Vampiric Magic. Description: Blood pours out from the user's body as a jester form appears around them, wielding a massive scythe with the same length as its own form. This spell is formed around the user with 100 m tall in height and 50 m around the user themselves. Any hits against the form or scythe will deal catastrophic damage to anything it comes in contact with.
Name of Spell: Initial Madness Elemental Type: Blood Rank & Spell Type: Grand | Attack Range & Speed: 80 m | 40 m/s Mana Cost: 24 (12) Stats Effected: +12 power Applicable Perks: Battle Knight, Apex Predator, Vampiric Magic. Description: The user summons a 2 meter long scythe they can utilize in their attacks, enough to give severe cuts. This scythe can also be thrown, but only in one direction and once thrown it becomes a ranged spell and thus cannot return to the user. More scythes can be made based on the user's control.
Artemis watched her Captain fight off her Warbringer, though it seems as though that her Poseidon’s Wrath spell had done some damage to the man. But, of course, that was not enough. She knew that based on power, she was probably at an advantage. Her skill set as well played a role in her getting the upper hand in their previous fight. However, she could not just have an upper hand. Artemis knew she needed to win this fight fully. [break][break]
“Scylla.”[break][break]
She found herself being targeted by scythes. An old move, easily countered if Artemis’ memory served her correctly. The previous fight had seen her fight off these scythes as well, and her Scylla swords should not only be enough to destroy the incoming scythes, but they should also destroy them and move towards their intended target without losing power. While two swords would go and meet their intended targets, destroying the scythes and hopefully damaging Barron as they were illusioned, the last Scylla sword would stay in Artemis' hand.[break][break]
Artemis gave little quarter as Barron sliced through her warship. [break][break] “Oceania.”[break][break]
The ground that Barron was standing on would turn into a churning sea. In fact, the whole training ground would turn into a churning sea as the man would most likely be caught in an illusion that accompanied the spell, as well as possibly take damage from the spell itself. [break][break]
“Let me be clear, the power of the sea will overwhelm you,” Artemis watched Barron with a steel in her eyes, “and there is nothing you can do.” She knew that she was boasting, but she couldn't help but bask in her moment of power. Artemis knew that she had worked hard for this, and she was going to reap what she had sown.[break][break]
Reaching out her hand, Artemis would motion for Undine to make her way towards her position. The time had almost come to finally show Barron just how much stronger she had gotten since their last match.

The swords are very sharp, and are very deadly. Through ammo rules, Artemis usually creates more than one, with the limit based on the amount of control she has. While she can use the swords in a physical fight, she oftentimes manipulates the swords with her mana, using it to fight enemies from afar. If she chooses to, Artemis can make a sword explode in a shower of pin-sized needles, causing an AOE effect. At first hit, opponents are blinded by the water that hits their eyes. The blind effect only happens once per opponent. Scylla is coated with an illusion, making them very hard to see, hear, and smell, and sense with mana. While the turbulent ocean changes the landscape, Artemis keeps a small amount of land for her and her teammates. Those within the area of effect are also caught in an illusion where they see creatures of the deep slowly boxing them into a small area, tricking sight, hearing, and smell, and mana sensing, hiding Artemis and her allies, using ammo rules for her allies.
