Rat found herself travelling in the common region. In her hand was a long and irregular shaped wooden stick she found. As she walked along a trail in complete isolation from any other human beings, she couldn’t help but realize she was smiling.
She had found inner peace and was content. She wasn’t alone, as she had been accompanied by her thoughts. Being alone could be frightening to some. However, Rat had seen some of the best- yet worse that humans had to offer in this magical world. While the girl walked with her one arm and her stick she felt herself at an imbalance, although one could say physically due to an asymmetrical build, it was rather mentally instead.
The clouds grew grey and vanished, and the skies were a monochrome shade instead of a beautiful blue. All of a sudden, Rat would feel not one but several to hundreds drops of water falling on her at once.
You’d think by now Rat would find herself in one location- her hometown, knowing all sorts of problems she found herself into, but that was not the case.
The platinum haired girl would sigh, she found herself getting cold and drenched in the rain. She was in the forest and was stuck, she needed to find shelter. Not by a tree or by any pools of water of course, as that’d increase chances of being struck by lightning.
And just like that- a clap of thunder roared followed by a lightning streak 2 seconds later. That meant it to not occurred too far, not far at all. Probably less than 2 miles if science was right.
Rat holding the flower against her socket, she despised looking at the sewn up scar, found herself running. What had she saw? A patch of flowers much like the one she wore, if anything the same species. Perhaps, it was some sort of sign. And what was even more, there was a cave that stood in front of her.
Rat would release her stick and began to sprint. Even for someone as disabled as her she ran so swiftly and effectively- much like anyone else. She had been so used to this by now she knew how to position her weight most times without falling.
The young woman would reach the entrance of the cave. As she hit the rocky surface with her wooden sandals, she’d slip the soiled material off and ignore any bugs drawn to her flesh. Although, irritating to some Rat had felt much more pain.
The young woman would hear someone nearby. There was someone coming. A monster? A clan of bats? Another person attempting to escape the cold rain?
Rat would begin looking around frantically and upon either hearing and/or seeing the other male would make her flinch and even give a light gasp.
“oh……” she’d say almost in a whisper as the person made themselves known to her. He seemed harmless enough, right? Yes? Ok, as long as they didn’t get to close!
[attr=class, cyrustext]"You picked a really lousy day to do some training, Cyrus!" Complained the spirit companion of the Golden Dawn's second in command, as she huddled in the hood of the mantle said organization had given him when he first joined. Not for the first time, Cyrus was glad that his particular robe was a bit longer than most since it protected him from the worst of the sudden rainstorm. It was getting rougher though, so he needed to find some form of shelter until the storm passed.
As for why Cyrus was out there in the first place, he had decided that since he was given several precious treasures by the people of Atlantis when he and his companions had rescued their kingdom, that he would take advantage of a rare day off from his Magic Knight duties to get used to handling the weapons.
Both weapons were quite similar in form, oddly enough; a sleek bracer that could transform into whip or shield made of chains, and a heavy, metal glove with a titanium chain wrapped around it, the chain ending in a tip of crystallized blue nightshade. He had learned much from his brief time so far spent practicing with the weapons, as well as a third which he left at home for today's training.
Cyrus decided not to respond to Hama's remark, since he was more focused on finding somewhere they could dry off, when he spotted a field of distinct flowers that he was familiar with; given that his own element of magic was sap, he had long since formed a fondness for plants. But admiring the local flora would have to come later; for now, what really drew his attention was the cave behind the flowerbed.
Cyrus let out a sigh of relief as he quickly crossed the rest of the distance to the cave's entrance, entering it just as a large flash of lightning boomed in the distance. He removed the hood of his mantle and shook his head, pushing his hair out of his eyes. Hama stretched and yawned, glancing around until she and her partner both heard a quiet gasp.
The wizard turned to look at the source of the gasp and spotted it, or rather, her. A rather beautiful woman who appeared to be about his own age, dressed in a soaking outfit that told him she was a refugee from the storm as well. Everything about her looked very pale, almost ethereal when measured against the dark cave and skies outside; white hair, pale skin, her clothes were white, and even the eye he could see appeared to be a pale pink. She had a flower not unlike those outside hiding one of her eyes, which he found curious, but not as curious as the fact that she was missing an arm.
She didn't seem to be injured though, which told him that it was not something that had happened recently. Cyrus raised his left hand and waved at the girl, offering a friendly smile to show her that he meant no harm. "Hello there, stranger!" He greeted her, stepping just a little bit farther into the cave but keeping his distance from the woman. "I take it that you're waiting out the storm here as well? Would you mind if I joined you? It seems as though it might be a while before it ends. Oh, and my name is Cyrus; Cyrus Elwood! This is my friend, Hama." The spirit looked at the pale girl and waved. "Heya! Man, this is some storm huh? It's like it came right out of nowhere!" She would greet her simply, staring out at the powerful downpour as it started to pick up. "Looks like we made it just in time, though."
Cyrus waited to see if the woman would grant them her permission to stay in the cave as well before he stepped in any farther; after all, he would understand if she didn't trust him, being a stranger out in the wilderness.

"......................." for the longest moment, Rat would stare yet also blink. She'd studied the man and his spirit to herself quietly. She was unsure of what to say. It undeniably made for an awkward silence. In front of her stood a noble with blonde hair, and a spirit. She had never seen one of those, but it wasn't that which made her uncomfortable. She studied him with all of his weapons.
"A-Are you going to punish me?" she'd immediately state and point at the whip at which he held.
She had completely ignored the concept of him being a Magic Knight- but even then, cops could be as bad as the rest of the population. They were there to protect. However, in isolation in this cave, ANYTHING could happen. She glanced at his Golden Dawn mantle. It did not calm her. It did nothing. All she saw was a taller man with a freaking spirit near his face begin to approach her. He had weapons. He was in the 'best' squad there were. Second, being Silver Eagles likely. If he tried something, no one would know. They were the only two. Here, she'd die alone surely underneath him?
Yet, nothing soothed her. Nothing at all.
The platinum-haired girl took several steps back where she was hidden in the darkness. If the small rays of the fading sun allowed it you could see her face peering back at him. Her face was neutral.
After she'd hear an answer from him, likely one of reassurance there would be another pause.
"....................."
"You can call me, Lab Rat-666. You can join me. It's not a problem," she'd step out from the shadows where she was able to view him and he could view her more visibly. It was easy to tell his features- from head to toe.
[attr=class, cyrustext]Cyrus waited patiently as the curious stranger stared at him, though Hama was beginning to grow a bit irritated at the long delay. She wasn't exactly a dainty little flower, but she hated being caught out in the rain. Were it not for the fact that she knew her partner would be angry with her she would have snapped at the woman to hurry it up with her answer.
Eventually the girl spoke up, asking the rather bizarre question of if they were going to punish her. Her question confused the pair, before they realized that she was pointing at the chain wrapped around Cyrus' arm. Cyrus gave her a reassuring smile and shook his head, removing the glove. "Oh no, no such thing as that." He promised. "You see, I recently acquired this and several other pieces of equipment from a mission I went on with several of my fellow knights, so I was out here in the wild getting some practice in with it. I hadn't realized the rain would be here so soon."
Hama nodded, confirming her friend's story but giving the woman a cautious look. "Strange that the first thing you would ask about is if we were here to punish you for something..." She pointed out. The thought had also occurred to the sap wizard, but he chose not to press the matter for the moment. Unfortunately the spirit possessed little in the ways of tact.
The stranger took a few steps back, and were it not for the few straggling rays of light peeking through the encroaching clouds her face might have been hidden by the cave's shadows. More silence followed, before she finally gave them her blessing to take refuge in the cave, introducing herself as well. The name she gave was quite the curiosity though; in fact, it hardly seemed like a name at all. Though combined with the fear she voiced before, it had the duo thinking.
"Thank you, Ms... Rat? Is it alright to address you like that? What brings you out into the wilderness today?"
As he awaited and potentially listened to her response, the boy removed his Magic Knight's mantle, shaking his wet hair and wiping it out of his face. He held the cloak out to Lab Rat. "Would you like to wear this?" He offered, again taking note of her drenched clothing. "I bet that it's cold, being soaked like that. I don't mind letting you use it until you dry off a bit."

"So you collect weapons for fun? I suppose that's not weird!" Rat would comment and was clearly uncertain about him being a knight. The knights had saved her, years ago, but that still didn't mean anything. They were alone out here- again, anything could happen.
Rat had her own weapon, but it was more for self-defense rather than for fun and hobbies. it was not abnormal and rather commonplace for people to collect guns or knives or swords in this setting- or other times and places for that matter. But Rat had been so scarred by her 'father' and him torturing her that it seemed odd for her to be accepting right away with someone who liked to collect the same things as he did. Even though this man was obviously not attempting to scare her it didn't click with her mentally.
She was intimidated to say the least.
"The world is a mean place Hama......much like you. I must be careful of everyone." Rat would tell to the spirit. Spirits could be mean, couldn't they? They were like monsters in a sense- inhuman. Ghostly, right? Rat hadn't had too much experience with them or the supernatural in the basement, other than magic which was a normal concept in this universe. But again, she only had exposure to other humanoid beings in the basement- not spirits!
Her comment wasn't meant to start something with Hama. Rat just wanted her to back off, but not showing much hostility and rather submission- she'd back into the cave once more.
"I went to the woods for a peaceful walk, but so much for thtat...."
"No, I'm fine," she'd hold up her hands as if she were getting arrested and shake her head no, "I don't need that. I'm fine. Thank you for offering though." she'd give a weak smile trying to adjust to both of the new presences with her in the cave.
[attr=class, cyrustext]Cyrus looked at the strange young woman when she made a comment about his hobby of collecting weapons, evidently misinterpreting his explanation of why he had been out in the wilds. Still, he did own a few weapons, so he supposed it wasn't entirely inaccurate. That being the case, he decided to simply nod in response. "Something like that, yeah."
Hama, meanwhile, did not enjoy the insinuation that she was mean. Sure she wasn't as nice as her partner, and she had a bit of a temper, but mean? That seemed like quite the conclusion to reach when the only thing she had thus far said to the woman was a friendly greeting.
Perhaps tired from the stormy weather though, she didn't bother arguing with the girl and instead waved the comment off, sighing heavily as she leaned against her partner's neck in her usual reclined position. Cyrus was glad to see that she hadn't made too big of a deal of things; while he was more aware of her temper than anybody, it was also true that she had improved in that regard remarkably.
But more than that, he was intrigued by the words of Rat before she refused his offer to wear his cloak, the sap wizard covering himself with the garb once again. Her remark about being careful about everyone. One the one hand he could understand the mentality; on the other, he didn't know what exactly could have lead to such a perspective.
Still, he didn't want to pressure the girl into sharing things with a stranger, and so he decided to give her the courtesy of keeping quiet as the group waited out the storm. Hama fell asleep, and her friend decided to take advantage of the peaceful scenario to do some meditation.
It took nearly two hours, but eventually the harsh din of rain hitting the ground began to lighten, and the Golden Dawn Magic Knight opened his eyes to see that there was but a faint trickle of water from the clouds above as the sun began to peak its way through the clouds. Cyrus stood up, stirring Hama from her slumber. She expressed her relief that they could finally leave, giving the cave's other resident a brief wave before retreating to the inside of Cyrus' grimoire. The boy himself turned to the girl and smiled, giving a short bow. "Thank you for allowing us to join you until the storm passed. I hope that the rest of the day is less troublesome for you. For now, we must be returning home. It has been a pleasure, Ms. Rat. Do take care of yourself."
With those parting words, Cyrus turned and headed off into the woods. Now that the rain was so much lighter, he didn't mind allowing it to hit his face. In fact he found it rather soothing.
