For many years his oldest memories ad been as a silent child getting looks of sympathy and pity from relatives. He had no sound of his own inside, what a pitiable and unthinkable thing for a Cobborn. Their family work was always music, there was always their own music and sounds going in and out. Telling them that he knew his magic wasn't sound had only earned more pity. Someone from their family not having sound? How would he play or create music enchanting enough to capture anyones hearts? Which was another way of asking if he would be able to make his own way in the world, or if they would be a burden on the family forever. A burden they felt that had been earned by not noticing the red heads father loose his mind from loss. They couldn't stop the violence, fear, or paranoia soon enough and they didn't know how to interact with him after. There was always a lingering fear with his aunt and uncle, the worry that touching him in some way might trigger something. Things would have been less lonely if they had, just a bit more... but the two had still done their best. It had made him feel more burdensome though, especially with the jealous looks his cousins had given for spending so much time with their parents. He hadn't been trying to steal their parents away, though it definitely had felt that his cousins had thought it to be so
When the day came for the young man to receive his grimiore, he was expecting the worst. What hadn't been an expectation was to receive a book with as much silence in their pages as his mind. It was a reassurance that it was okay to have no sounds of his own, that this was the right path. At the same time? It was a nail in the coffin, because he knew it meant he definitely needed to leave the familial comforts as soon as able and never look back. They lived in two very different worlds that he wasn't going to work on mending together without any help. None of them wanted to listen to his calling, nor the reasoning. If his job wasn't the same area as every other Cobborn, then he wasn't family. For some time he had hoped that was an empty thread. Deep inside the young man had always known it wasn't, which was more than likely why it hadn't hurt when they had broke ties with him. It felt a bit shameful that it took until he was nineteen to feel like they had healed enough to try to become a magic knight, but he hadn't been turned down. Being sent to Raque only made him feel more sure that this was the right path to take, though not everyone had felt that way. Naxel wasn't in the knights anymore, so that man must have felt very differently. Whatever that was would not be known to the deep orange haired person, likely not ever.
“That's horrifying, but not exactly surprising. Is everyone able to knock the beasts out, or pin them? Something to avoid innocent deaths...” Joseph spoke into the wide little charcoal singing bowl. Were they able to avoid that so far? It wasn't something the young man had to think on for long. Soon everyone was in view, causing the youth to let his tracking spell fall from use for the moment. It was only used to help find the group, something that he apparently hadn't even needed to do. Of course his question was answered by the sight of what a certain dark haired man did. This was certainly not a nice bit of scenery to see, but the young man wasn't exactly expecting flowers and unicorns. There was a lot going on just from the small bit he had seen and heard so far. So nobody knew if those mana beasts were actually civilians, but they were still... that put a chill down the pink eyed persons back. He would rather die than to purposely kill an innocent person. Then again, that man was more than likely ranks above him with how that individual fought. Even if part of him said not to judge, the other said it was wrong no matter what. ~Be polite, you don't know everything.~ These words were signed for himself, nobody else. The young man wasn't exactly expecting anyone there to know sign language.
Still, no time was wasted by them in joining the group. It seemed as soon as he got there that there was already talk about going somewhere else. Was there a fire? “I'm Joseph Cobborn, sent as reinforcement. A junior from Azure Deer that specializes in tracking and communication that can use carbon matter. I received some items after Raque that have given me a few more spells besides that, a carriage, a speed spell, attacks and a healing spell. I don't know in what way I can be useful, but I'll do my best.” It wouldn't make sense to not share that information after running into more people, hopefully that helped him feel a bit less confused? But there was definite confusion in him. Should he use the speed spell? Not unless it was needed, as each spell on the items could only be used so many times in a day.

Rosalia raised an eyebrow at the apparent shouting that came not too far away from her. A magic knight had…disappeared? What sort of sorcery was this? Something demonic probably. Having people just vanish into nothing was…out of the ordinary even for her. Was it some sort of void or transportation spell that she’d read about briefly in the Grand Magic Archives. Fuck. Some part of her was itching to know. That inner nerd that she hid in the metaphorical closet that only her best of friends knew about wanted to stop everything and just go explore. But the supermodel had to pull herself together. [break][break]
She received the Blake’s wink and smile in return gracefully, not wanting to waste anymore of his attention on her. They were in a warzone. Zaven’s following command not to immediately put down enemies but rather wait to have the checked was smart. It would take time, but it wasn’t anything she would’ve thought of, and her usual war mindset was mercy. He then swept up to quickly tackle the enemy that she and Chisana were dealing with. “Very well Captain.” She moved over to follow commands and listen to Ardere. Somehow her lawful side had kicked in now and her ruby eyes moved over to Chisana. “My policy in war is usually mercy, but by the Dragons, the Ice Jarls and the Gods,” a little puff of icy breath left her lips, “this magic is impure and without consent.” The way that those people has been forced to run alongside monsters, had met their end and had then been transformed…Her jaw clenched as she turned to look at the female civilian with the brown hair that had been shouting about the disappearance of the Purple Orca Knight. “Don’t panic. That’s the worst thing we can do around foul magic like this.” [break][break]
Rosalia turned mute at the Crimson Lion Captain’s command however. She got underneath his powerful dome spell. Power was…power. Magical presence like this that was not only out of pure mana and ability but also confidence and respect…she’d only felt from Zaven before. This current crew of people was currently lead by two Alphas, and the woman would have no trouble keeping her tail between her legs when it came down to success and the overall safety of the people of Clover. The Kasai and Zaven were much more experienced in war than she was. She’d heard stories of them, after all. When she was young she’d peak out of her window and watch after the Magic Knights dreamily. As she grew, Ardere, Jett and the Golden Trio had been some of those people she admired. Having Silas and Belle around her as she trained for her exams was healthy for her mental state as an aspiring sorceress… [break][break]
A new mage joined them soon and Rosalia turned to give him a smile. One dressed in the robes of light blue…Where was Naxel during this war? He and Artemis had been close friends. Surely he would’ve been here to fight for her if not for his Kingdom. And Lydia…The beauty was honestly confused about her lack of presence. The pink-haired lioness was one of the strongest people she knew of…there was no way she wasn’t out for vengeance was there? [break][break] The Ice witch shook her head. She and Lydia weren’t on the best of terms, but she’d sent flowers for her after the fall of Kikka and Artemis’ sustained damage. Seeing that everyone started moving under Ardere’s dome, the ice witch would put off her defensive spells in order to recover some mana. [break][break]
Mana Conservationist: You will be able to use spells with less mana than others when it comes to casting spells! Each rank of spell will have its spell cost go down by the following amounts, please remember that this is based on the rank of the spell not the character! [Juniors]: 2 | [Intermediate]: 4 | [Senior]: 6 | [Grand]: 10 | [Archmage]: 16
Perfect Buff: Those with this perk may now cause their magical stat boost buffs to buff at a rank above their own when buffing allies only. For Archmage spells this will give +3 to the total of the buff. This cannot affect Physical Buffs in any way, even if used in dual spec.

Description: Rosalia pours mana into her grimoire, summoning forth a whip of flexible black ice, called Frostbite.  The whip deals senior damage to an enemy, buffing the caster's Power by +9 upon usage. If the whip is picked up by an ally, they obtain a buff of +12 Power.[break]

Sven couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow as he heard the timid summoner apologise for any offence she may have given, he couldn't help wonder if this girl was for real or not. One thing was for sure to the archdaemon if she kept up how she was then she wouldn't survive in a place such as this, to him she was far too skittish to the point she actually apologised for potentially upsetting an enemy. "Little girl, you need to grow a backbone before you are made into more of a doormat." she said with a frustrated sigh, he had such high hopes for her when he saw her magic but now he realised that she was nothing more than a child trying to play mage and that was more than a little unbecoming in his opinion. "There are times to apologise and times that you stand your ground. This is a time to stand your ground but I am starting to see that you are unsuited for this world and that is why your family don't want you." he had his children leave the town to do some information gathering on not only who might be sent here but the noble families and the squads in general, there was no way he wanted to be caught flat-footed in regards to whom might be entering his domain. He could get where she was getting at though, it was a rare skill to be able to move through the ranks without having some sort of offensive magic but it had been done in the past and there were some that he had noted withing his realm right now who had taken such a path even if they were at the very beginning of it, of course, that meant that their paths could change as their experiences did.
"Where it is difficult, mortals can go through life without doing any harm to another living being. As my son likes to tell me mortals don't have to be as barbaric as us, they have a choice... just most of them don't take it for some pathetic reason or another." he said to her, he had no idea what went through his son's mind at the best of times but he wasn't about to question it as he had never disobeyed an order given to him and done any task given to him efficiently to the letter. He wasn't quite sure if their kind got things such as OCD but he was pretty sure that Ito had some kind of version of it given some of his mannerisms but at the end of the day, it benefited him so he wasn't about to go try to fix something that wasn't broken in his mind. It was then he decided that perhaps the summoner just needed a little push in the right direction if she was going to try and rely on the purple orca mage to be a safety net he would just have to make the net go away. For now, however, he wanted to see how things would play out before he made his own move, after all, there was nothing worse in his mind than showing your hand to soon. Well, disobedience was actually up there but in this case, there was nothing worse at least.
"It doesn't take someone strong to save a life you know, nor does it have to be the most powerful person that is the keystone of a mission. Everyone has their strengths and this is what they can lend to a team." another male voice said to her though it was calm and collected it was clear it was making a point. "Don't worry about your weaknesses, your group will cover those... you should use your own strengths to cover their weaknesses isn't that how mortals work in teams after all?" The voice seemed frustrated but it was doing it's best to guide the scared young woman. "My name is...." he trailed off and once more it went silent, it was like he was willing to be her safety net as much as it seemed as if it would be a bother for him to do such a thing, however, something had stopped him from finishing his sentence. "Don't engage these, they're there just to distract." A female voice said her voice was gentle and wispy almost as if the air itself was speaking to the summoner "There are civilians in severe danger, save them." she requested the summoner "They are not yet ready to join a graveyard..." her voice sounded saddened "You must move quickly you only have a very small window of opportunity to save them and not be seen." the woman almost begged the young summoner to go and protect the citizens, the tone was truly transparent on her request and held no hit of trying to deceive her.
It was clear what had happened had given the male black bull a few short seconds where he couldn't believe what had been done to the citizens, what had been worse was that it was the good guys that had been the ones who had done the harm. "I will pray for them, but, in war, there are casualties on both sides... this is the way of living for our kind." the female voice whispered into Chisana's ear. "We don't all want this it is just how things have to be... if you and one other bring them to the purple orca base I will even revive them on the condition you leave the base afterwards." she offered him like when she had spoken to Verena her voice had been transparent and honest "You were all so heavy-handed and it was innocent people who paid the price." A male voice butted in "Let them live with their mistake sister, they knew his tricks and still refused to withhold their full strengths until they found out who was a friend and who was a foe. They deserve the stain of darkness they brought upon themselves." to him it was simple as that "They haven't learned a single damned thing... so disappointing." with that his voice went silent towards the male black bull "We aren't all complicated our existence is quite linear we tend to act as expected... well perhaps not my family but daemons in general." she said softly "You all are far more complex but at the same time you are also simple and it is because of that you can be manipulated like marionettes for people like us." she finished speaking to him, like Sven it was clear that these two people had clear sights on them also but their exact locations were unknown.
The mana beast was easily pinned but it had thrashed against the golems dealing int damage to each of them as it tried to free itself destroying them outright. With two strikes the beast had become dormant as it had seemingly been knocked unconscious, however, five new sets of glowing eyes could be seen over the torso of the mana beast. "Think of each of them as a homunculus, six things passed to create one of each of them." the male voice came back to inform the group "I don't agree with such monstrosities that go against the natural order I know hypocrite given what I am." his stoic tone held a hint of anger within its undertone as he spoke upon these mana beasts. "The 'components' were taken from my sister's graveyard so she wasn't exactly happy about it either, as if she adds things to it she tends to not want to give them up naturally." his tone had once again calmed "It has now become more difficult to kill but we can't give you the information as to why or how to destroy it or we'll get in trouble so have fun with it." the woman voice said "Please don't harm it too much I would like to return it back to my graveyard, they were so very strong and it would be a pity to let them go." she almost sounded like a little girl that was worried about her favourite doll was about to get damaged. "Well, that's unless one of you would like to take their place." she offered them her voice sounding almost hopeful but knew that the offer wouldn't be accepted.
The mana beast had slumped to the floor, although, it seemed as if an illusion would fall this was far from the truth not that anyone would know this, in fact, he had raised illusions on certain mana beasts to look like humans even though they were mana beasts while other 'mana beasts' had truly lost their illusions revealing them as being humans, unlike the ones that had raised showing they had once been human but after death, they had been transformed and twisted to what they now became. The assaulted reanimated gave as good as it was given, at the end both the golem and the mana beast had been destroyed within the struggle for dominance. Soon the shadow of dawn was praising others within the group for their efforts and to keep up the good work, he realised the mistakes that had been made by the group but also knew there was no way to undo it so all that he could do was keep the morale of the group up as they moved forward in their endeavour.
While the bout between the golems and mana beasts was going on the male civilian was taking the time to talk to his female counterpart on how everyone made mistakes and for her to not to let it bother her as he went back to focusing on the task at hand to attempt to take his mind of the sickening smell of burning flesh and smothering smoke within the air. The man was already feeling inadequate in the situation between the daemon and his own team pointing out just how pathetic he really was at the end of the day. Even someone who was the strongest could easily start doubting themselves if they heard it enough, he already knew his limits and was trying his best to bolster his confidence in the situation of despair for others just to rip the rug from right under his feet. It would seem as if the male civilian had pointed out the fact that if they didn't deal with them then they would remain a threat but did admit if they could take out multiple at once then it would make it easier for them in the long run. It was a wise plan but it would be up to the others if they decided to take the advice of the civilian given his current strength. As he spoke the mana beast that had been attacked by the summoner had lunged at Sol making him barely dodge as he slashed towards its towering body. Unlike Verena, he would be close enough to see the detail of the mana beast and the five other faces it had within its torso. "To be honest, you don't know how we work child so don't say we won't hesitate because if we didn't then the last group that was here wouldn't have been given peaceful passage from the town now would they." This would be heard by the entire group "You mortals are all the same, you view us by the same standards you view your own kind. Time for a reality check little boy, we are far from the same. I don't attack people like you who aren't worth my time, had you spent time talking to the previous group you'd have found out a little more on how we actually work." It was clear that the cold tone was irritated but was still calm in his way of thinking.
Sevn had been unusually quiet at this time, what the group didn't know was that his own children were working against them to give them advice and buy them the chance to get to the city centre without interference. They didn't believe in harming innocents if it could be avoided after all who wanted to rule a kingdom of corpses but then again it could be a double bluff and Sven expected them to act in this manner so it was an unknown order to them. Whatever the case might be he the archdaemon was more than willing to let things play out as they were. He didn't reply to the crimson lions' captain it was even unclear if the archdaemon had even heard him. In this case, he hadn't because the two working together had managed to find a way to layer their illusions making it harder for Sven to see through it. Irregardless, the archdaemon didn't thing of the fire mage as a boar or a gorilla. As far as he could tell the man held the same sort of intelligence as a gifted mana beast and that was better than most the magic knights he had been notified about so he had that working for him, he also honestly believed he had the will power to take most of what was to come and try and push through the wall but nothing worked exactly as it should at all times and so sometimes that wall that a person tries to ram themselves though is nothing more than a wall of air due to an illusion. Had Sven actually heard the last part all he would do was smirk seeing it as a wonderful challenge in the making but as he didn't all he could do is wait till they turned up once more.
It was true Sven couldn't see where the group was but he did remember where the purple orca communication mage had been, he had enjoyed her conversation and he honestly didn't want to see her harmed at the same time she could still be a thorn in his side. With everyone distracted he decided now was his time to act, as the young woman had moved to get the ring that she had seen glistening she was enveloped by a mist and like that she was gone from the group. The group themselves when they finally noticed wouldn't know where exactly she had been moved to or if she was still alive, all they would know is that Lilith was no longer with them and that made them slightly weaker as, as far as they knew she was the only person with communication spells within the immediate vicinity. The ring remained exactly where it was untouched and still available to the first person who picked it up. it would turn out that the archdaemon had indeed been correct that they had backup plans it would seem like the information he had on Jagen and Samson was indeed correct, they cared for the citizens, were calculating and left little to chance when it came to their safety. He didn't understand why people felt the need to sacrifice themselves for the weaker among them perhaps he would never understand it and he was quite content to not have that understanding, unlike his children.
It was faint but he could hear the female black bull "Indeed." he said simply his eyes closing as he tried to navigate through the maze of illusions in front of him. "They are indeed pigs so I decided to treat them as such but as far as kidnappers and towns go you could have ended up with worse." he said with a calm tone, he wasn't happy that his vision was obscured but he was willing to deal with his children's small rebellion for the moment. He knew there was little more than his daughter loved more than her 'graveyard' and he had taken from it, while Ito had an insatiable need to understand and learn but that came second to his twin's happiness and safety. To him, it was a weakness that he wished he could have beaten out of him but on the flip side, it made him that much harder to handle, more so as he always kept his thoughts clear regardless of the situation making him dangerous as he never allowed himself to run on emotions. The vice-captain of the black bulls was correct Sven was indeed funnelling them, if they could see the entire board then the game would end too soon and he wasn't about to allow his fun to be ruined for a second time. He could tell with his way of playing that more than one would be unhappy about it and it would likely be the strongest three of the group that go down that road, in honesty he didn't care at the end of the day. He owned Kikka which meant he controlled the rules and could change them how he wished at the drop of a hat regardless of how pissed off a how ants felt about being led down a path he wanted.
It was now that the female civilian had noticed that Lilith was removed from the board, Sven was still unable to see properly so was unsure what was being said or was happening. It was a bit of a struggle but Sol and Verena managed to down one of the reborn mana beasts on their own and this time it remained down and unmoving. The male civilian made sure to check on his counterpart before moving forward as they complied with the orders to regroup by the captains. As of that point there was still a senior and an archmage mana beast running around even though the black bull vice-captain had used her whip to lash out at it but this mana beast had created a shield to defend itself out of pure aura before spikes came out of it and shot our an aoe almost if a trap had been triggered, this, of course, hadn't been the case it was just the secondary function of this spell. The spikes would clearly do some damage if something wasn't done to defend most of those within the team so it something would have to be done and quickly.
The mana beast that had been pinned by chisana's now destroyed the golems and was still out cold currently now had a shield around it and like it's own shield and that of the other mana beast that hadn't been hurt at all, like the other original shield the shields around these two also let out pure aura spikes giving more chance for the group to be hit. "I wish they would just come home I miss them." the female voice said to Chisana once more "I don't want any more of them hurt or worse if you promise to get the others to stop hurting them I can get them out of your way, I would do it myself but they can't hear my voice which saddens me to no end. Will you help me? You'd be removing a hindrance to you also." it was clear that the woman cared for these mana beasts and would keep to her word if the group helped her get her favoured companions back to her side if it was agreed then and only then would she give the orders needed to be muttered to get them to return to her. Her words would only be able to be heard y Chisana alone meaning he would have to bring up the request to the others before she would give it. She didn't trust mortal beings to keep their words even though the daemons were the ones that people normally had the issues trusting but these ones had always kept their words when they had made an agreement.
The shadow of dawn had helped to get the black bull vice-captain down from the roof that she was on and after a very quick few seconds of silent flirting through winks and coy smiles he called out to the group telling them that before they do the killing blow restain them as best they can so himself or Ard could give them a once over to prevent any more unneeded casualties before he called out to his friend and fellow captain to take care of the strongest of the mana beasts as he cast a spell to reinforce himself for what he was about to do. The Grand mana beast had seemingly been tackled to the wall but what no one seemed to realise was the shield that was also around it, as the shadow golem was so close there would be no way for it to not gain damage from the pure aura spikes coming from the shield dealing it severe damage, Zaven too was very close but by the time the spikes had been released from the shields Zaven would still have enough time to dodge but as there were so many spikes being released there was a good chance he was still going to gain some sort of damage even if it was just a graze. The mana beast remained still as it was almost appraised it was only when the captain moved to strike did something happen, he would hear the junior of the three Golden Dawn to answer the call to save Kikka 'Captain, don't hurt it. It's not its fault...' he would know that Hinota was nowhere near him but it would sound like the doll-like mage right down to the distress and pain she normally had in such situations.
Even if he shrugged off the words the strike would only damage the shield around it a grin on its face as it double punched the golem destroying it. The mana beast turned its head towards Zaven and changed its stance to one that would be known all too well to the shadow user. It was one of the first his own father taught him and many of his half-siblings when teaching them their place and roles within the family. It was almost if taunting the head of the Blake family to attack it as if it had something to prove against him and him alone. As Zaven moved to talk to the two black bulls it ran after him starting to attack almost calculating on what might be coming its way as it dealt with its own attack on the shadow of dawn. He noticed the wayward Azure Deet and ordered him to regroup with the two Civilians and Ard before he himself became food for the many enemies that might be within the city.
As that conversation was happening Ardere had heard the female civilians voice as she explained to him that the one of their group had been there one moment and now she was gone. It was at that point that the protective father genes kicked into gear and he put up a shield in the hope to prevent another of the group not realising that there was one more on their way to join them and so outside the neat little shield keeping everyone else safe preventing him from gaining the same safety due to it. The archmage mana beast was no fool and had been able to move with a quick grace only getting hit by one of the four flaming swords hurled towards it by ard but even then all it did was hit the shield which still prevented the shadow golem from tacking and hitting the beast, however, there was a good chance that the golem itself would be hit at close range by a pure aura spike if Zaven wasn't fast enough to give it an order to dodge. It would be clear that this fight was far from over even with the man's shield protecting him and the others within it.
It would seem like the peach haired male would get the response to let him know the basics of what was going on and where they would be, but he had heard Zaven call him to get his butt over to where everyone else was or he'd likely fall victim to a trap or become some mana beasts next snack. Upon meeting up with everyone else he gave his name, squad although that would be apparent by his mantle, his specialities and notified them that he had taken part within the Raque assault. Zaven would know himself about Raque as his vice-captain and one of the junior members had taken part within the defence of the town. He notified them of the items he held and what they were capable of, he then finished by putting himself down unsure as to how he could be of use to the group due to his current abilities.
The flame of courage wasn't the only one that had heard Verena stating that one of their group had vanished into the darkness without a word. This is something a magic knight would never do willingly in such a situation more so since she openly opposed the red-headed black bull separating from the group when they had requested it from the captains. Unlike Ard who had taken it as a threat to the group and became internally shaken by the event, the vice-captain had gone down another route seemingly not so worried that a member of the group had vanished but more the want to see how such a spell worked. The inner voice seemed to be wanting to be a child and go explore but at least she had the common sense to know such things had to wait until the threat was dealt with. It would seem as if she had o issue with the order given to just restrain or knock out the apparent enemy until they had been checked over, it may have caused them to waste a little more time than normal but it prevented any more civilian deaths than had already done from happening more frequently. "You're wrong!" a woman's voice rang out in visceral anger, "I asked them to join my graveyard before our battle. They stated if I could defeat them they'd remain in my service." her voice was far colder than the ice she produced or even the shadows that surrounded them. "I only accept the strong and willing not that an airhead like you would understand." It was clear that the daemoness was anything but happy at the things she cared for being called unnatural
"The homunculi..." she sounded saddened as if she was in true pain and mourning "I never wanted that for them... but even in their current condition I will care for them as I had promised please return them to me." It was true she was a daemon but unlike the puppet master, she was more human due to the connection she had with those she kept with her after their deaths... she was more compassionate to them anyway. With a quick wave to the new arrival and reminding Verena not to panic as it was the last thing they needed it would be up to the group if they would return the homunculi mana beasts back to their owner and continue on, kill them and continue on or continue on with them giving chase.
Story:
The four mana beasts that were reanimated done so stronger, the twins have given advice, requested things and even given aid by preventing Sven from seeing and hearing the goings-on due to overlapping their illusions. Verena took note that the purple orca mage was missing being met differently by each mage bit soon a new mage would meet up with the group. The two citizens took out the intermediate mana beast though they found it hard. With it's passing it left the group with three to deal with. As the grand and senior mana beasts were attacked the archmage one cast a dome shield of grand rank over the remaining three that also released aoe pure aura spikes if these spikes aren't dealt with there is a good chance that a lot of the group is going to be killed. Lilitu has made a request that the mana beasts be sent back to her and even sounded upset that this had happened to them. One of the mana beasts has mirrored a stance Zaven knows all to well and has attempted to attack him. The group now has to decide what they want to do in regards to the remaining mana beasts. Choose wisely.
The slaughter of the restrained and remaining beasts by Zaven came quick and effortlessly, it was a show of power that Chisana only saw when around Captain Malcolm, it reminded him of the difference between where he was and where he was trying to get too. He dismissed his remaining golems and proceed to be within the defensive spell that Captain Ardere had casted and ordered them to group up within. Though his mind was filled with various thoughts, his weakness, the mysterious voices that had spoken to him and others, but it seemed like they all heard something from someone that was watching their movements. Much like the original voice that had entered so easily into each of their minds these voices seemed to come from completely different Daemons, Chisana had been told the barest of information when being tasked to this mission. The feminine voice that pleaded with Chisana to let the creatures go and unharmed seemed honest and void of trickery, though the stern more strict voice that had chastised their actions seemed the even more honest of the two. It was a type of talking that was straight to the point and did not beat around the bushes with its intention. [break][break]
“Captain Ardere, I know this could be a trap, but I was told by a feminine voice that if we allow the creatures to go without harm they will leave us be and not attack us. That basically we can proceed without being dragged down with what I assume an army of these things.” Chisana said with a face of seriousness that didn’t show any hint of being brainwashed or wavering feelings, “I think we should move on and just leave the creatures to their own dealings, it would help us in quickly finishing our mission and lessen the chance of harming the villagers.” Chisana finished his request to the Crimson Lion he wasn’t sure his way of doing things would be accepted, he was after all just an intermediate 5th class mage, but as cold as he had grown since making it this far he still had hope that there would be a better way of doing things. Regardless of what Ardere decided Chisana would follow the orders given but would also do what he could to knock out or make it so whatever they face in the future is unable to harm the group without killing them if possible. He was simply saving the small burning ember of anger for the actual cause of the situation they were in.

TL;DR Chisana has dismissed all his golems after grouping up with the rest of the group in Ard's defensive spell and has requested to Ard that they leave the creatures unharmed and hope the mysterious voices were truthful.

[attr="class","ardereescroll"]No witty remarks or comments this time, only silence. Ardere was not aware if this was due to Sven being distracted, or if the Daemon had finally discerned conversing with him was akin to talking to a brick wall. While the fire mage did not like to admit it, he was quite stubborn at times. Today he was forced to be. There was no option for him to retort wittily or sarcastically--his spirit and will were in question here. He deactivated his dome and swords. They were no longer needed. A plan was required. [break][break] The golem Achilles fought valiantly, but the Daemon were more intelligent than even the Captain anticipated. He had to react quickly or they were all in trouble. His heart was racing. Not again. Not once more would he fade into darkness at the loss of those under his protection. Ardere could not bear the pain of failure, nor could the beast inside of him. His heart began to burn like a sun as his blood began to boil. His eyes turned into a bright orange as he found it hard to breathe for a moment. Simple words rang out in his mind as everything went deaf. Ringing in his ears he only heard one thing; [break][break] "Ardere..." [break][break] Bursting forth from his body was a full sized dragon, crimson red scales and a tan, dusted underbelly. For the first time since his fight against Malacath, the dragon made his presence known. But the dragon did not simply burst on it's own. Having access to its master's spells, he chose to activate one. Salamander.. Finally, after all these months the spirit he worked so hard to partner with had finally returned. If the situation were not so dire, the Crimson King might have shed a tear. But now was not the time for tears and joy, it was a time for anger and determination. In that moment, the red lizard chose to save as many as he could. [break][break] The spikes coming towards them were too fast for most to react to, but Salamander himself had sensed the attack. His size and wingspan could protect all of those who chose to seek refuge in the dome, but the men known as Joseph and Zaven were out of his reach. Ardere had no other option than to hope his companion would protect himself and the other mage. He had faith in the Golden Dawn Captain afterall. The spell that Salamander chose to activate was one that would be: Crimson King: Ryujin. This spell normally transformed Ardere into a dragon-like being capable of intense flight and speed, however on Salamander it simply enhanced his already draconic form. Growing a second set of wings, his scales became a deeper crimson red as his claws sharpened and his speed increased. The dragon quite literally tanked the spikes with his wingspan and torso. It dealt significant damage to him, but the spirit had no other time to react. Covered in shards he bled onto the street. Ardere could not believe his eyes, but after hearing Chisana's words he took this time to command those before him. Alright everyone, get onto Salamander! We're getting the hell out of here. It may be a trap Chisana, but we don't have much of a choice anyways. [break][break] Salamander summoned the Hinokami Sword Dance around the front of his body with a size of ten meters, careful not to hit any of their allies, which would block the mana beasts from attacking while healing his wounds. Any that came near he would slash at them to get them to move. This way to allow the mages time to load onto his form so they could make their getaway. Time was of the essence here. Thank you, my friend. He spoke to his dragon companion, his heart filled with fire and compassion. They were truly a duo to be afraid of. [break][break] TLDR: Salamander bursts forth from Ard's body into his full size to tank the spike attack. He activates a spell to transform himself and increase his speed, then summons the sword dance dome to heal himself and block the front of himself from the mana beasts. Ard commands everyone to get onto Salamander and book it.

[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Zaven smirked as he felt that familiar blaze, he knew what was about to happen; the searing heat, the gust of wind, and the explosion of mana. Salamander was now on the scene and while the spirit was going to defend them, Zaven was left with the reanimated monster that copied the Blake's own style and Joseph who was not quite fast enough to get to Ardere in time. When the spikes were launched and Zaven had barely a moment to think he just yelled to those that could hear him. ”COVER!” He would say before diving for Joseph and with a fluid movement he grabbed the Azure Deer’s mantle and would give him just a single order. ”Get to the dragon and stay with the group.” He was calm as he threw the young mage with his full might towards Salamander and the rest of the group. The trajectory should be enough to get him in with the others as he saw the others about to figure out what to do next when Ardere told them to get on the back of the great spirit. Zaven made eye contact with the reanimated beast and felt the small amount of magical power where Lilith was still in its same spot. He made a mad dash for the spot, and as he ran up the wall and hopped through the window, crashing into a table and rolling once more. Before going to the room where Lilith and the others were holed up for a moment. He quickly scanned the room for anything out of place, feeling the mana presence around him till he found the ring. [break][break]
Before he could make a grab for it, the creature appeared in front of him and delivered a kick that sent Zaven stumbling back about a meter and into the wall. He quickly reached for the first thing beside him, an old oil lamp which he grabbed by the wire handle and stepped forward as the creature copied him in an exact movement. A swing of the creature’s right arm met Zaven’s forearm in a clash as he brought the lamp up in a desperate movement to rack the copycat creature. It was not a pretty movement, but he was always taught to fight to win, and not to ever give quarter to his opponent...so he did not. Of course, the creature only seemed to cry in pain, but not in wailing agony as if Zaven just hit the fucker right in the balls...then again he was not going to check the sex of the damned thing either. A frenzied kick and then a ferocious leap found Zaven once again pushed to the wall as shocking right hooks were delivered to his face, a tactic that Rolin had used MANY times to subjugate a younger Zaven, but the captain of the Golden Dawn was no longer that young naive Blake of yesteryear. A quick block, then a shifting of his own weight and when the creature reared back again to deliver a heavy blow to Zaven...the Shadow of Dawn just sidestepped and threw the creature head first into the wall, with a sickening crack and a wail the creature fell for a moment. ”I would kill you...but as I have seen with the first set of fucking monstrosities here...that would probably be a mistake.” He spat out blood on the creature before reaching out to feel for the ring again, finding the magic source on the floor now where it once was he kneeled down and picked it up. He was sure that if he put it on, he would find where the Purple Orca had gone away too, if he was wrong in his thoughts it was likely to be a deadly trap set up by the daemon...or it could be a fucking way to escape...which really wouldn’t help him in this instance, but god damn it he was going to get to the bottom of this one way or another. [break][break]
Right as Zaven went to put the ring on he heard the snap. ”Fuck me...again.” The copycat creature would lunge at Zaven and catch him before he had a moment to react, causing him to be placed into a headlock and down to his knees. The creature then picked up a piece of the oil lamp that now lay shattered on the ground and began to stab Zaven’s back causing the captain to groan with mild annoyance. He quickly threw his head back and felt it connect before breaking the strong, one arm hold that the creature had on him before holding that ring in his head and getting up just to take a mad dive out the window just as the creature decided to use that spike defensive spell again. nope!” was all the captain replied as he dived out. Behind him the room of that house became a pincushion for that spell, the Blake noble finished the dive with a forward roll, ending with him pushing off the pavement towards Ardere and the group. His initial plan was to see if the ring sent him somewhere, but he could tell with it now in his hands...it was just enchanted, which made the mystery of Lilith’s disappearance that much more intriguing. He slipped the ring on his finger and felt exactly the same, no distorted view of the world or magical teleportation. This caused him to chuckle under his own breath as he got on the back of the great fire spirit. He just hoped that he made it in time to do so. [break][break]
He would look to Ardere once on the back of the dragon and shake his head as he held up the hand that bore the ring and pointed to it. ”That Purple Orca disappeared some other way, this ring was left in the room but once I put it on it only has an enchantment attached to it...I wasted precious seconds for a trinket…”. He said as he felt his chest, with the adrenaline wearing off a little and his body coming back down from that rush of energy he could feel the stab wounds in his back...and the hole from where a pin had smashed into him while he moved to save the Axure Deer...another foolish move made by the Blake noble...during a high risk mission...

The only person he knew personally was Chisana, which wasn't helpful. This was a downside of being backup, reading the information for a possible mission you might go on was different than having the names on those papers and actual faces line up. The junior was in a life threatening situation with a group that wasn't going to hold back just because the azure deer was tossed in after the metaphorical water had risen a bit already. This wasn't a time to panic though, nor did he ever consider doing as much. This was terrifying, so it wouldn't like there wasn't fear. To panic was to let that fear win though, which Joseph wouldn't let. Seeing such horrors from the get go wasn't exactly nice, but it certainly set a tone for the mission that buildings and darkness just couldn't get done. This was different than Raque in more ways than one. That city had only been taken briefly and never quite completely, where this city had been fully taken for months. One had been submerged in water, the other in a darkness that hung in every breath and glance. There had been a very low number of survivors in one, there even being a pile of corpses on a hill. Not even everyone who had been saved survived, as there had been a second attack. Only those who hadn't been in the building could flee from the guild before the two different explosions.
Most of the citizens whom had been recovered had already entered the blue rose base at that time, but there had been something keeping them in for most of the destruction. Only four of those who had been in the building could be rescued. What was the causalities to this city so far? There was no way of knowing for sure until it was saved. The deamon in raque had been cleaver, but not as good on long run thinking. This was easy enough to figure out by the very different results, as Kikka had been sent people to save them as well on the same day. If the deamons of both locations were much alike, then the end results would have been similar. Because of that there has been a large amount of time given to the conquerors, if they hadn't already had this far planned out in the first place. That would make it worse and planning easier. In this sort of situation though, it was never good to rely on anything unless there was some amount of proof behind the thoughts. He was a magic knight, thus did not consider himself allowed run on any baseless ideas. Even someone as small as him had lives relying on their every move. In that water sunken madness his own actions had lead to getting more people saved, and four out of the building before the collapse. Cobborn was unlikely to ever be able to forget the child's grip as they held on like the man was their only lifeline.
There was no way he could dodge the coming attack, but it seemed there was no need to prepare to attempt to avoid his own demise. It was too soon for it all to end for someone who had taken too long to really start life. Shortwave telecommunication was still being used for reasons he was unsure of at this moment, but right now that wasn't all that useful. Everyone was busy and whatever Chisana was saying would only matter to those close enough to hear it. The sound bowls vanished along with the spell, he could cast it again when needed. But that was when a certain dragon appeared. Any dragon would have been a shock as such a being was far from common. The sounds that came from it were different than common sounds, but also varied from the chaotic tunes that a deamonic presence had. There was something more put about it that was almost hypnotizing for someone who hadn't heard such harmonies outside of instruments before. This distraction was brief at best though, as the shout next to him was a shoot back to reality. A grip took them before Joseph was even able to start running. Zaven was likely right that the azure deer wouldn't have been able to make the distance without the 'help', but it was still very surprising. What makes the muscles more tense? Getting ready to run, or getting thrown at a massive red dragon?
But the toss certainly helped the junior, not bothering to waste it. Their legs briefly wobbled on landing, but he managed to run under the cover before the attack had sunk everywhere. “Thank you for throwing me!” If only he had an actual name to link the thank you too, but he wasn't just going to yell out his guess on who the person was without any proof. Then again, can it be a real thank you when the reason is so off? But the save was bitter sweet, with the dragon having bled so much. Salamander? The dragon had to be the great fire spirit, then that was definitely Captain Ardere without a single doubt. This meant his worries about the dragon were likely needless, though the feelings remained. Cobborn climbed up the dragon after being told to, though was careful not to touch any part that looked hurt. Doing that wouldn't exactly be a good thank you, now would it? But any planning or suggestions the peachy person was going to make was pushed away by familiar sounds. the voice of the very person who had tossed them. The orange haired junior hadn't seen them under the dragons protection. Was he injured? That wasn't something lingered on, as the damage was quite plain upon the back. That lead to the pale pink eyed adult to reach behind his back, grabbing their spear.
“This is to heal, it just looks weird.” Somehow it felt that needed to be said before going further. Possibly pissing off someone so much stronger would be stupid at best and suicidal at worst. But with that said? The wooden spear was moved, the healing spell activating as soon as it touched Zaven. The spell certainly ate a little more magic than the typical spell, but it was the only healing spell the azure deer has.

Hmmm…Sven was…surprisingly accurate in some of the stuff he said. A lawful evil with a brain. It was entertaining to hear him explain to her that the situation of her childhood could’ve been much much worse. He was correct. She had a “home” but she never really had a family that saw her as anything other than a material possession to be bargained with and given to the highest bidder. Considering her modelling job and witch blood, she was a rare commodity in Clover, one that had landed her modelling career and carried her through five years. She could’ve starved. She got lucky when the ambitious chef and his wife of a small local restaurant offered her a place to stay as trade for working. [break][break] Rosalia, fortunately, due to her upbringing with her brothers, turned out to be a bit of a workaholic and worked more than enough. Her exotic looks brought more male customers to the restaurant and the place was soon able to hire more people. With the money she made from tips, the ice witch moved out of the chef’s restaurant, while still part-timing there twice a week, and moved on to do basic modelling and also selling fruits in the Kikka market. About a year into that, her modelling career took off rather rapidly at 17. But modelling wasn’t what the beauty wanted. Instead, she was saving up to be able to take a few months off and practice for the Magic Knight exams. [break][break] “You’re correct oh Daemon Lord. Your points are fair, but that doesn’t make me dislike the men any less. I…tend to usually request mercy for people, but…”She had to think of how she’d feel about their death. It would weight on her a little, not because she cared for them, but because she was a Magic Knight. Her stupid brothers who rejected magic. In a sense they deserved his. In hindsight, she would treat them as any other civilians of Kikka. If they survived this, they hopefully changed their ways. [break][break]
A voice that she couldn’t pinpoint cut through the air. Male and cold, but different from the one she now recognised as Sven’s. The ice witch tilted her head to one side. It explained the beings that stood before them and fought against them. A sudden curiosity sparked in Rosalia’s eyes. Her inner nerd had been triggered. A homunculus? From where she stood by Ardere’s side, she now wanted to engage in a general conversation and ask away about the process of creating such a being. Knowledge, dark as it was, was still knowledge. The beauty had to bite her bottom lip in order to lock back her need to inquire from the voice. Whoever this was…they didn’t seem to exactly be on their side but they were…interesting. Then a female voice cut through, one that sounded feminine...no, downright girly as she voiced her request to take one of them to her graveyard. It made a little shiver go down her spine. [break][break] She had a promise to keep to a certain someone and a home to go back to now…so she couldn’t even properly consider such an offer. [break][break] Chisana…whoever was talking to him had offered a solution and the boy conveyed it to the captain of the Crimson Lions without avail. It made Rosalia smile. He really was a great Knight. At the next moment, the beast that blocked her attack sent out a strong attack that was blocked by Ardere’s fire magic. Was it fire magic? Her ruby eyes narrowed…That felt like…a spirit. Like Cyrus, Zaven’s Isabelle’s… Like her own. But it was much more powerful than Meseth. The ice spirit remained quiet in her grimoire as it observed the happenings around them. [break][break] As the giant dragon burst forth from Ardere, the beauty would listen to the man with a sigh. “I still think we’re being funnelled, but perhaps something else going on that we don’t know about?” Rosalia voiced coldly so that everyone in her immediate vicinity could hear. Her ruby hues moved to Zaven as only to see him get kicked into a wall. She then watched as he returned the favour with a giant oil lamp and chuckled. The man was…something else, and he made her smile. Yet his fight continued. When she saw him get stabbed in the back…bloody fucking hell. Her blood turned hot with worry. “Zaven…what the fuck are you doing?” The woman muttered under her breath and then saw the new orange-haired Azure Dear attempt to heal her friend. Oh good lord these idiots. One was selfless to a fault and the other was just new to the job. [break][break]
“Captain Ardere…I believe better healing efforts would be needed on the Shadow of Dawn.” The woman murmured, her blood running cold as she watched the gorgeous member of the Golden Dawn get healed by the young Azure Dear when they climbed on the Dragon. It was clear the boy was putting in effort. She was just pleased he was alive. “By the Glaciers and Dragons, Blake, please stop making me worry about you.” The beauty would whisper to herself as she glanced away and she'd help Varena and Sol out if they needed it. [break][break] In plain sight…Rosalia was a bit pissed at their ability to coordinate. The Black Bulls were all chaotic, but the beauty was as lawful as they could get. She was concerned for Zaven as they were friends...maybe a little bit more than that. Fucking hell there were rumours about them after that night with Lydia at the bar...She was happy that everyone was doing as Chisana had suggested, but the selfless Blake had been silly. It was an occasion for Rosalia’s angry episodes- the actions of one of the very few people she cared for. God he was melting hot sometimes, but other times he made her want to freeze something alive. Could he please not get hurt? Fucking hell. [break][break] There was two people she really didn't want to lose in this world. One was the man who made her life have meaning again, the man who pulled her out of a living on sex and liquor in between missions- her Captain. The other was the silly Blake she so cared for. It made her consider seriously picking up healing magic, for the sake of both of the men that were near-daily on her mind. [break][break]

Sol seemed to be a little worried about the Reinsberg. In truth, she might not have had any real damage come her way yet, but the reality of the matter was that she was starting to run a little low on mana. For her one as inexperienced as her, she liked to think she commanded quite a bit, but she was still new to the way things were done in combat. In war. So her supply was roughly at half; a number where she now needed to seriously consider reserving her mana. “I’m fine… but I need to be careful about mana usage…” she admitted. “Thank you though.”[break][break]
To say nothing of the fear she felt knowing that one of their own just up and disappearing. Could Sven do that to any of them? It was without warning, and without anyone’s notice. Without knowing the exact limitations of what he commanded, it was difficult to gauge how many of them were at risk. It seemed as though Sven could make any of them disappear at will. Without having the appropriate knowledge on how that worked, however, there was nothing that could be done. Ordinarily, she’d be stressing out about that, too, but she just didn’t have the energy to commit to that.[break][break]
For her sake, and for everyone else, all the heiress could do was focus on the task in front of her and do all she could do. Whatever happened to Lillith was concerning, but ultimately she couldn’t afford to worry about that. The Black Bulls Vice-Captain backed that up, telling her not to panic. So then, all she could do was take a deep breath. Calm herself. Think. Focus on the battle at hand. “...Thank you, Rosalia,” she said, careful to not use the last name or tack on a ‘Miss’. She hadn’t forgotten that the VC didn’t take too kindly to that, and she didn’t want to upset her.[break][break]
Verena took notice as Chisana seemed to be going out of his way to deal with the Mana Beasts in nonlethal mannerisms. He was a golem user, but he also seemed to have no problems getting involved in the fight personally. A strange approach, but she was familiar enough with golems to know that he was quite familiar with their combat potential. The formation he had surrounding the group initially before dispersing them was intended to cover the group’s flanks. They’d be able to quickly respond and react to anything that threatened one of their own, albeit at their rank it wouldn’t amount to much. This was very much an instance where quantity did little to matter.[break][break]
Still, the numbers he was capable of producing were terrifying in their own right. It was enough to allow him to contend with a seemingly powerful enough mana beast. She wasn’t completely sure due in part to the darkness, but she was pretty sure that Rosalia was also helping, too. It only made sense that she would be, at least.[break][break]
Zaven seemed to be locked in a fierce battle with a powerful Mana Beast. Initially, it seemed as though it would be quick and easy. He even sent his powerful golem to Ardere, and hollered towards someone; she wasn’t sure what that was about, but it seemed as though a new party would be introducing himself. However, that introduction was going to be cut criminally short if he wasn’t fast enough--Ardere was ordering the group to advance.[break][break]
Though he had asked that they show any to Ardere or himself restrained Mana Beasts to confirm their identity, the mana beast that she and Sol were fighting had broken free of the constraints that the beauty had tried to set in place; namely, the wood golem to use its weight to try to pin it down. It was also possible that it had managed to avoid that entirely; in truth, she didn’t even get a good look, as it felt like it had happened too fast. But Sol cut it down, and it seemed that was that. It was too close, and Verena was a little worried about that. But at least she could disperse that golem now, too. If it wasn’t going to be able to pin that golem down, then there was no point in keeping it around, and so she dispersed it.[break][break]
Yet, prior to that, there was the faintest hint of desperation in his words. Of fear. It didn’t last long, of course. This was the Indomitable Flame, the Captain of the Crismon Lions. He was courage itself. Valor personified. The fear of losing a comrade made sense, and Verena assumed that that moment where he seemed to be in a deep concentration was the result of him preparing some sort of sensory ability to find Sven. She wasn’t aware of his sensory prowess, but Ardere was never one to be counted out based on the stories she had heard.[break][break]
Then, the new arrival showed up. Joseph of the Azure Deer. A user of tracking and communication magic, with an element in carbon. Ordinarily, Verena would be right out of her shoes for such a joyous and rare occasion, meeting another carbon user. However, that was not the case. They had lost Lillith, who was both of those things. Then, a Magic Knight conveniently shows up immediately? How could they be certain he was truly an ally?[break][break]
“...Verena,” she said, speaking solely to the Azure Deer. “I use Golems from four different elements, in addition to having carbon as well. In addition, I have a Restraining Spell.”[break][break]
The former noble’s tone did little in hiding her weariness given the situation, but she at least played along as best as she could. She knew now not to trust everything. Hopefully, everyone else here did as well by this point. Though it didn’t seem to be the case as everyone seemed perfectly content with his arrival. Did any of them know him? It was worrisome. She had no idea who knew who, and the sole person she had any degree of familiarity with having spoken with them was now gone. This feeling of discomfort was uncomfortable at best but weighed on her heavily.[break][break]
And then, he spoke.[break][break]
“There are times to apologize and times that you stand your ground. This is a time to stand your ground but I am starting to see that you are unsuited for this world and that is why your family don't want you."[break][break]
So, he knew. Or at least, he thought he did. Sven thought he had the answers. That he had all the answers. She briefly entertained the idea that he did this as some sort of bizarre way to motivate her, to encourage her. To actually strike a nerve with the normally docile and timid young Summoner, and ignite a match within her soul. But she dismissed the idea; not because it wasn’t possible, but because it didn’t matter what his reason was if there was one at all.[break][break]
Quietly under her breath (or within her own head if confirmed that he was capable of taking note of thoughts as she lacked proper communication magic), but loud enough solely for only those with the best of ears--including Sven, Verena spoke to Sven--[break][break]
“...You speak of humanity and our tendencies quite a bit. You’re an observer, but you are not one of us. We squabble, we struggle, and we suffer. We fight, and we fight. We take, we kill, we destroy. But we also create, build, help, heal. For every person who takes, there are three more willing to lend a hand. Love. Faith. Hope. And Luck. These virtues embody our kingdom. Embody what it means to be a true citizen of Clover."[break][break]
“I won’t pretend I understand your kind. I know nothing of daemons. Your society, your hierarchy, your culture. But there’s only so much being an observer can do for a person. For a daemon. I know I’m weak. I know I can’t beat you or even get near you without being killed. Not that my life has much merit in your eyes. In your position, I’m most likely an eyesore, given something too good. Or perhaps you’re quite pleased with the fact I’m speaking to you at all.”[break][break]
“...It’s true I’m unwanted. But that doesn’t mean I acknowledge their feelings. I am Verena Nicole Ruhm Reinsberg, Sven. I am the proper head of the Reinsberg family. The feelings of the other family members mean nothing in spite of that fact. Those here today will reclaim Kikka. And I’ll start pulling my own weight to see that come to fruition.”[break][break]
The Reinsberg was displaying a rare-if not the very first moment of anger. Her tone was still very much respectful--she wasn’t speaking in a way that showed her anger. She spoke clearly. Precisely. She spoke it in a way that came off as confident, but careful to not lash out, nor to come off as condescending. Her tone indicated she still knew her place in this battle, but at the same time wasn’t going to allow herself to be pushed around.[break][break]
Not long after this, however, Verena heard another voice. Initially, she thought it was Sven, but there was a difference between the two. The heiress couldn’t help but think it curious but was very much on guard. However, this voice instead was trying to help her. Did they really think her a lost cause? …Well, she couldn’t blame them for that opinion of that was the case. So far she had been nothing short of pathetic. It might have been arrogant of her to assume this, but there was a part of her that deep down wondered if the Daemons just wanted to see her potential given she was in possession of a four-leaf grimoire.[break][break]
But, this male voice was right. They weren’t going to win this fight through individual effort. They wouldn’t ever reclaim Kikka in that manner. They had to work together. Joseph had the right idea when he introduced himself. She was too scared and too nervous to do so, but when they had the chance, it was vital that they do so.[break][break]
Verena found it curious that the voice was about to introduce himself, but decided against it. Though curious, she knew better than to ask. The advice he had given her was plenty, and she wasn’t the type of person to take more than her share.[break][break]
Which was why it was so surprising to hear the female voice next. Based on her own attitude and mannerisms though, Verena was confident that these two must have been the other daemons that were mentioned in the report. Of course, there was no way to know this for sure, but at the very least even if the woman was trying to plea with her…[break][break]
“…I came to Kikka with the intent to save people. So I want to go. But I can’t.” There was still the matter of the incredibly powerful mana beasts that still ravaged the nearby area. Verena couldn’t ignore that.[break][break]
“…It’s obvious I can’t see through the illusions. Nor am I capable of handling these mana beasts on my own. I can’t save anyone if I die. And I’d just put others at risk. Even if I tried running off, no doubt my teammates would try to prevent me. I am a citizen after all, and all but one of them are Magic Knights. That would only risk their own safety.”[break][break]
“…Beside, you’re most likely one of the three daemons here in Kikka. I’ve already set off one trap; risking setting off another could damage everything we’re setting out to do. I want to save people… but logically, I can’t make a move with the field as it is.”[break][break]
“Give me a reason to trust you. You surely are aware of how suspicious it is for you to try to convince me in that way given the situation. If you do want to offer us assistance, or at least me, I hope you understand why I can’t, even if I truly want to.”[break][break]
Verena’s voice was shaking a little bit in the beginning and end. Her resolve when she thought about ‘what if I’m wrong’ was shaky, but ultimately she had to make this decision. It was obvious she wanted to just break off from the pact into a full-on sprint. But ultimately, she couldn’t, for many reasons.[break][break]
And then, the female added another bit of information that Verena thought interesting. They were distractions. Chin to hand, Verena contemplated this. That meant she was right. There was little to no point in fighting the mana beasts. But that was if she was to take the daemons word at face value. Verena wanted proof, but there was no way to prove that, and it would be unfair to request that of anyone, demonic entity or not.[break][break]
If this source could watch her right now, she seemed very deep in thought, as if trying to analyze this situation before her. “If I was Sven, I’d still be treating this as the greeting. The situation itself largely hasn’t changed. He’s got fewer obstacles before us, but they’re much stronger now, and more intelligent,” she noted to herself as she took a glance around to watch Ardere’s fight with Achilles against the Archmage, as well as Zaven’s own struggle against the Grand Mana Beasts.[break][break]
“Sven also wants to fight. Rather, he’s looking forward to it and expects it as an inevitability. But it’d be hard to imagine that he’d want to fight Zaven and Ardere when they’re at full power. To him, a victory here would most likely mean a complete victory. One where he could not be contested. Eliminating the risk of failure by weakening his biggest threats by tiring them out and allowing them to come to him makes the most sense. That might also be why he funneled our range of sight. A high enough vantage point means he could be seen if this theory’s correct...”[break][break]
“He doesn’t seek victory through brute force, but through cunning methods… In that case, using the mana beasts as a distraction would make perfect sense. It fulfills the quota of testing to see how prepared we truly were by mixing in civilians, while also serving to exhaust us. But the same should also be true to a degree for him… normally, at least. It’s not hard to imagine that because this is his domain, he might be receiving some higher mana regenerative abilities. Though there’s no way to know for sure, and I’m not even sure if that’s possible. It sounds plausible, given the existence of some powerful techniques I’ve read on though…”[break][break]
Ugh, she was overthinking it. There was only one thing she could do at this moment.[break][break]
Trying to think this hard about a person she’d never met and only read up on, as well as briefly spoken to (more accurately, being spoken to by) could only get her so far. At the end of it all, it was entirely within reason that these were a distraction, meant to tire them out and weaken them before getting to Sven.[break][break]
Verena was so lost in thought, however, that she wasn’t even aware of the impending spikes that were about to hit her. Though she was still in the palm of Phaunus, it wouldn’t have mattered. That was, of course, until Salamander appeared, defending them by taking the attack all on its own. Her life had flashed before her eyes, and if not for Ardere and Salamander, she would unquestionably be dead right now. Biting her lip, she took a deep breath. She could panic about that later. Now, it was time for strategy.[break][break]
The brunette recognized the spirit immediately. Due to the nature of golems as well as elemental spirits, she had read a few books on them in the past. “I guess there’s no way now to go without drawing attention to myself,” Verena thought.
With Salamander present, there was little doubt that there were eyes on the group. Even if most would be focused on Salamander and Ardere at this moment, slipping by wouldn’t be as easy as it might have been before. Plus it wasn’t as if she had a general idea of where she was to even to go, anyway.[break][break]
Even if she was lost in thought, it wasn’t as if the beauty couldn’t hear Chisana. This near-death experience snapped her out of her trance. “...What did she sound like?” she asked. “I heard a female voice, too. She informed me the mana beasts were a distraction. Whether or not we trust that information is entirely up to the captains though. ...Though, thinking on all of the moves Sven has taken thus far, I feel that it is a very strong possibility. Avoiding them is definitely in our best interests.”[break][break]
Ardere then ordered everyone onto the elemental spirit. Verena seemed unsure about this, but she knew her options were much better if she was with everyone than if she abandoned everyone. Thus, her course of action was pretty simple. Especially given Rosalia had helped her scale the dragon, and she dispersed her last golem. Once on top, with everyone on the Salamander, Verena took a deep breath as she calmly began to speak.[break][break]
“...It might be a little late, but I feel we should do what we should have done from the beginning. Proper introductions.” She thought about mentioning what type of magic types they used, but by this point, the group in question had seen it all. She had already explained this to Joseph, but with the chaos surrounding things, she wanted to make sure others could hear.[break][break]
“I’m Verena Reinsberg,” she flatly stated. Normally, she’d hide her family name but there was little reason to worry about that in this moment. Ardere might understand a bit more than the others about the gravity of this. “I can create golems from a variety of elements. Sound, Cloth, Earth, and Wood. I also have a restraining Spell via Carbon Matter. Whether we like it or not, we will have to split up eventually to deal with the wells. I don’t think there’s a way to avoid it. Not to mention, I know just being near Sven will likely result in my death, as I’d be in the way.”[break][break]
“If any of you have sharp ears, my sound golem can produce three different sounds. I’d offer to have my wood golem be near Captain Ardere that he could use as a bonfire, but realistically speaking, I shouldn’t be near him, and the absolute maximum range my golems can be at is just twenty meters.”[break][break]
“How I can be of use is for you to decide,” she said, addressing the wounded captains. “But we need to consider planning how we plan on dividing things up while we can.”[break][break]
Was… this really the same girl who had entered Kikka?

Sol took a deep breath in as they managed to cut down one of the mana beasts before they had gotten back with the main group, while he tried to back up his partner and the group the best he could inside the red eyed mans mind was racing and he honestly didn’t know what to do, ‘what on earth do I do?, Curse the foes with my blood magic but if they are too powerful then its not going to do a single bit of good, maybe binding them.. No that wont do anything either if they are way above my level my binding spells wont even hold them for a second before they would snap' he thought as his mind went over each option and found that nothing he had short of a straight up attack with his sword would work and even then his sword wouldn’t down a higher level foe in one short. At this point Sol was hoping that he would survive this and be able to overcome his weakness. It was then that he heard the commander of their enemy Sven speak again and he once again managed to get under Sols skin without any effort telling him that they arnt anything like he thought they were and that they didn’t bother with people like him since they weren’t worth their time.
At that moment the civilians eyes filled with a look of utter hatred and if one were to see his glowing slitted red eyes in the darkness one might even mistake him for a monster right out of nightmares. Svens words sparked something very dangerous in Sol the obsession with power and the desire for strength it was then that he realized that Might controlled everything and without power one could not protect anything let alone themselves. With that in his mind Sol didn’t even bother answering Sven back as he was now more intent then ever to live thru this and keep growing in strength. It was then that the red eyed mage realized they had gained a member who was good at communication magic which made him breath a bit of a sigh of relief, it was hard enough as it was with the darkness encroaching on them but if communication were to be lost then they would all be easy targets.however Sol still made sure to be careful since he didn’t trust that conversations would remain completely private since this was enemy territory. Sol however didn’t get anytime to ponder further as Ardere and Zaven kept up the assault but the next attack had the dark haired civilian thinking he was on a one way trip to see the almighty themselves, it was a barrage of Spikes and coming so fast Sol had no time to even react and even worse he froze since he couldn’t even process how quick his death would be if they struck him.
However before the spikes could even reach the team Ardere had managed to bring out some form of spirit which took the blows from the spikes that would have rendered most if not all of the group dead. As it happened Sol unfroze but he could feel sweat drip from his chin which was odd considering the lack of heat in the area of town other then Arderes magic. As the stronger knights told them to get on Salamander Sol didn’t question it as he climbed on the creature and waited for the others to get on as well. once they were on Verena spoke and mentioned that while it was late that they should introduce each other, she herself went first as she explained her ability to make golems of different elements along with restraining spells with carbon matter as the element used. The red eyed man nodded at her explanation as he thought those were two good specialties to use before he decided to speak up and go next. "I’m Sol Shinryu my magic elements are blood and Solar with a focus on restraining and cursing, while most of my spells are balanced with restraining and cursing with both elements im not suited to front line fighting im better at playing a supportive role” he explained as he heard Verena ask the captains how go about the next move considering the first attempt seemed to come crashing down in shambles. Sol also wondered what the next move would be since already they were in bad shape and many of them were nearly killed with that spike attack had Salamander no intervened. “I agree we need to think of a plan it seems that right now the enemy has either foreseen our moves or they could have made contingences for any and all possible strategies we could come up with.” He said as he thought over the current situation. So far it seemed that they were having a hard time making any progress and who knew how many more mana beasts and tricks Sven had while they were having to fight as hard as they could to stay alive and make headway, but Sol could only wonder if perhaps them dividing was even a good idea. While divided they could cover more ground it was also far more likely that they would get cornered and killed while if they stayed together they were stronger but also it made it easy to surround them and converge on them at a moment notice. ‘it feels like we are getting nowhere fast we need to figure out how to get to Sven quickly or by the time we get there we will be exhausted and powerless at that point Sven could wipe us out as his leisure’ Sol thought grimly as he glanced out at the darkness wishing he could see the battlefield if even a little bit better so he could possibly help with making a strategy but with his vision blocked and weak sensory it effectively crippled his thought process for the time being.
I don't know where the future[break][break] will take us,[break][break] But we will blaze it together.[break][break]

[attr="class","ardereescroll"]Zaven...you crazy motherfucker. Exhaling deeply, the Crimson King stood strong alongside the monolithic scaled beast at his command. Years on battlefields prepared him for moments like these--moments when the world seemed to stand still. Amidst the flames and destruction, there was clarity. Within his blazing eyes, Ardere held infinite strength. The only option he had now was to move. His legs were no longer frozen where they stood, but they were pumping with boiling hot blood. Adrenaline coursing through his veins the Crimson Lion Captain leaped onto the creature known as Salamander. Assuming all of the passengers were on board, he'd recast his Arsenal around the red dragon. Totaling 4 swords to defend them, he aimed to make it incredibly difficult for any Daemon to get near them. [break][break] That being said, if all of the mages arrived atop the gigantic spirit; they'd take flight. Salamander's wings had never carried him so fast. Their goal was where the burning flesh had come from originally. Taking to the sky, the spirit flew above the tops of the buildings by at least thirty meters. His four wings began to beat with all of his might, the wind rippling throughout the city as his intimidating form soared above it. It's alright, friend. You did what counted most; you saved one of our mages. Now no moping. The ferocity burning in his amber eyes could be felt by the group. We've got ourselves a Daemon to defeat, don't we? His lip curled into a slight smirk as he looked out into the city. Sven was out there, waiting for him. They just had to find him. Blazing swords spinning around the Dragon, he deactivated and reformed the sphere-like spell known as Hinokami's Blessing to cover his entire form. Everyone within the dome would have their wounds healed and the group would be provided a serious defense from the countless floating blades that formed the dome. [break][break] You feel it too, don't you Salamander? Ardere muttered to himself. The dragon growled lightly, rumbling coming from his belly. Placing a pale hand on the crimson scales, the fire mage felt his warmth. There was an unbreakable connection between man and spirit. Their souls were one now. A man and a dragon. Not even an Arch-Daemon stood a chance against the combination of the two. Ardere could only hope his victory did not cost more than he could afford. You're right though, Verena. We need a new plan. Sighing with a regret that only came with the position of Captain, the Lion closed his eyes for a moment. Not once had he stopped utilizing his Ki tracking this entire time, and even so he still managed to focus. I thought being divided would be our end, but it seems like it might be our only option. Verena, Sol, Chisana, Joseph, and Rosalia. You've all done so well up until now, and especially Zaven. I know it's been hard, but I want you to split into two groups to focus on the citizens. They need to be evacuated. Zaven and I are going directly to Sven. Reverting to silence for a moment, it was clear the fire mage was holding back what he wanted to say. But he did not hold it back for more than a moment. The only way this ends is with that Daemon dead, and I'm gonna be the one who kills him. Sorry Zaven. But that being said, I cannot control the destruction that ensues. Salamander and I are going to be entering full power. I'm not sure if my body can handle it as well as I did in the Capital, but....I have to try...even if it breaks me. The last words were said solemnly, and Ardere did not have any inspiring words to remedy that. Truth be told he was scared. Not of losing the fight, but of losing himself. He felt the pain in his left side, the mark Malacath had made. Salamander did not want him to make his injuries worse, but the dragon knew their only choice to win was to enter Spirit Dive. The dragon did not come out of hibernation after all these years to let a town of humans just die out to this Daemon scourge. And Ardere did not drag himself out of the pits of despair to just lose. They couldn't. Not today.
The male black bull would notify the others of what the female voice had told him, that if they agreed not to harm the mana beasts any further than they already had been that she would tell him how to send them back to her, she even offered to revive those who had died if he and another came to the purple orca headquarters and left afterwards. What the group didn't know that this was the daemoness Lilitu the mistress of the mana beasts that they had been fighting, the woman that had made a promise to Valo and Charles that she wouldn't leave the purple orca base until their return. She had done so only three times, once to give the pair the safe passage out of Kikka, the second was to gather information and the third was to watch the group enter from the south gate but on all of these occasions she had done no harm to anyone, she had no need to in her mind it was a fair trade for breaking the promise after all the reason she had said she would remain in the base was so they wouldn't have to worry about her destructive nature near the poor defenceless civilians that inhabited Kikka. It did, however, mean she needed to bring a few to her service for things such as food but they were treated well and their families were under her protection due to it which they may not have been happy about but they still lived better lives than others.
She didn't give the information on how to send them back to her as she had no idea if the agreement had been made at that point, of course, she could see and hear everything but she wanted to hear that they had accepted clearly before giving the information. "As soon as I hear that your group accepts I will tell you how to send them back to me so that you may tell the others, however, if even one is injured by your group on accident you will be wishing that my father was your only problem." her voice went from warm to cold in an instant, it was clear as crystal that she cared for the mana beasts much like a mother would a child or a child to their favoured toy and that she wouldn't put up with the breaking of such an agreement. She was, after all, taking a huge obstacle out of their way albeit it helped her also but then if enough of them got hurt she would be like a force of nature that not even Sven himself would be able to predict or control, Ito knew the reason behind their father's move was that exact outcome even if it was risky for everyone involved because she would tear down that town in a rage and give no care to the carnage as she razed it. "I would accept her request, she has a terrible temple and if you are here to protect the civilians then take the easiest route to it because in anger she will make this place a graveyard and feel no remorse until around a decade later if she feels it at all." the male voice said as if he had seen such actions with his own eyes. "And before you think angering her will make her act foolishly, no, she will be far more vindictive and calculating in any attack she does." he warned the group.
"Dear captain, the reason why my father isn't talking to you is that my sister and I are using two strong illusion spells to allow you cover from him and preventing his communication. Please don't waste this small window of free movement we have bought you as the chances of us being able to grant you another is beyond slim." he stated allowing him to know what was going on, the voice was stoically lacking any true emotion to it but the undertone though faint showed someone who just wanted this constant struggle over and was willing to help when required, of course, he knew that his father had anticipated such things happening but also knew the man seen it as just an added thrill to the game that was going on within the town. The twin daemons watched from their current locations as the attack had seemed to have failed but the pair smiled in an almost knowing way if their eyes could be seen it was almost as if they were at peace with what they had seen just happen. Within that movement, it would seem that the Golden Dawn captain had made his own move to get the new arrival to end up with the rest of the group knowing with the current situation that the male wouldn't stand a chance against the mana beasts within the area. Grabbing the Azure Deer's mantle he gave the order to get to Salamander and remain with the group, with a quick motion he threw the peach haired man towards the large dragon with the hopes he didn't miscalculate which luckily he hadn't though with the thud on the hard scales he was definitely getting a bruise on his rear due to the landing.
With that done he had seen the glimmering a ring but he missed the paper that held a childish image that showed him what the ring actually did so right now he had no clear idea what he had just slipped on his finger. There was little time to think of that as the mana beast had stalked him and remained within Zaven's families preferred stance of fighting and held it perfectly. Soon enough a fistfight between the grand mana beast and the shadow of dawn happened each fighting with everything they had to get the upper hand neither of them giving quarter but eventually, the captain of the golden dawn claimed victory but it wasn't an easy fight that was for sure as the mana beast seemed to have read quite a few of the man's moves and reacted with a counter of his own as Zaven had done to the mana beast. "Mortals are so pathetic believing trinkets are a waste of time before knowing what said trinkets do or who left it." the male's voice seemed somewhat frustrated if not disappointed with the captain's words but soon enough he knew that he would find out just how helpful that pathetic little trinket would be in the coming fights he just hated how narrow-minded the captain of the squad that was supposed to be filled with the cream of the crop and brightest of stars, so far he was far from impressed from the ego of one and a second running off on his own so far the only one of the three that had shown any real wits was the one that hadn't fought.
As before with Ard when he had spoken to the archdaemon the words the ice witch had spoken to him didn't reach Sven's ears. The twins could hear her words perfectly but decided not to voice their thoughts on the matter as it had nothing to do with them at the end of the day. "Oh everything within this city is a trap and you are most definitely being funnelled but you are also unable to be tracked for the moment but we won't be able to hold it much longer without adding additional layers perhaps five more minutes if you are lucky at what we've done currently. We will not give you any longer than that as we are still somewhat loyal to our father." the male's voice said to her it was clear they would help up to a certain point but they refused to incur the wrath of the one they served fully for the group as the best they could hope for was death but they knew their father wouldn't kill them but would teach them a lesson that would last for centuries like the last time they tried to defy more than he would permit them to. It was however clear that she was worried for her friend and even mentioned to Ard that his healing might be needed to help his comrade that hadn't made it to Salamander just yet. It wasn't quite clear to the daemon if she wanted to help him or freeze him in anger, it could go either way mortals were so complex in his mind that they could want to hug yet hit a person at the same time for the exact same reason and so he was glad it was something he didn't have to deal with it in all honesty.
It was clear that the two junior civilians had bonded on some level with the male showing concern for the female civilians well being, but where she wasn't physically hurt she did note she needed to be more careful with her mana. It was true that the woman was unsettled but at the same time she was given the reassurance that she needed not to panic from the vice-captain of the black bulls and that seemed to put her somewhat at ease for the moment to know that though she was in danger she wasn't alone. It would seem like she had taken notice of Chisana's use of golems and how she managed to flank quickly to take advantage of the situation as they moved quickly but also knew at their current strength that they might not really be anything more than a distraction but not much more useful than that, but the sheer numbers he could summon was impressive even managing to take down one of the stronger mana beasts albeit with the help of his vice-captain and her whips. The mana beast that she and Sol had been fighting got to close to comfort for the pair but working together they managed to take out the mana beast that had been a threat not all long ago for them. Once it had been done she dismissed her wood golem in the hopes to relieve the strain on her mana.
It would seem like the woman was suspicious and rightfully so at the fact that as he arrived as another ally just happened to vanish but what only the captains knew was there was back up plans for if anything happened. The town of Kikka had been under daemon control for far too long and the higher-ups were putting nothing to chance so every backup plan had its own contingency plan. Problem was the fewer people knew the better but it also put such situations as these as a very real inevitability due to it. As the peach haired man told the group about himself it would seem as if the woman would indulge the other in her own magic and specialisations. She didn't trust anything at current and it was wise given the situation she currently found herself in, it was true the rest of the group hadn't questioned the man's sudden appearance after one of their group just vanished and so wondered if they actually knew him. The answer to that had she voiced it would have been no it was true that the man was somewhat the apprentice of the now missing in action Naxel Blake cousin to the shadow of the dawn but the only person in the entirety of Kikka that could vouch for the man was within the other group at the other side of the town.
It was then it seemed like the woman would comment back to something that had been said to her "I will let my father know of your words at current he is unable to hear or see your group though I am sure he will be happy that he got the rise out of you that he wanted and expected." the daemoness said to the young woman "You will tend to find that my brother is the observer out of the three of us however our father just likes to play games and can be somewhat chaotic at times." she informed her "Myself? I look for new people to join my graveyard so I might find peace one day." This last sentence was something the daemoness only allowed the summoner to know and so only she would be able to hear it. "You are a chaotic mess wrapped up in a fury bow." Ito said abruptly it was as simple as that "You claim to want peace, help, create, build and heal but at the end of the day you are all more than willing to pick up a sword and fight when it serves your own purposes and don't get on the high and mighty horse little girl about squabbling, suffering and struggling as I told the redhead that was here previously try being in our shoes for a day and you will see your fight for survival pales in comparison." he wasn't giving any quarter on this "Uh-hu... yet you have nobles that still quash commoners, children that are still starving, people without homes, people who turn to crime because of all of this... where is your love and compassion then? Where did the faith of the people here get them? And luck... don't make me laugh where nothing is written in stone to put something up to some fanciful child's belief is naive at best." his voice was calm the entire time he spoke but his stance was clear on the matter and no matter what the woman tried to say to him he wouldn't change his mind.
"My brother can be blunt but he has spent more time than most our kind living amongst your kind and so isn't an observer like my father and I are as you put it. He is well educated and wishes to learn more of your kind but seeing all the violence he is, I don't know disappointed I guess. Don't take his words to heart." she said gently to her "He actually asked three of the last group that was here why they fought and the answers were rather upsetting to him so let us hear your reason. Why do you fight Miss Verena Reinsberg?" The woman asked showing she knew of her, the pair had of course been the ones that had gathered the information over the last two months on the squads, the noble houses and the most likely people to have been sent to this place but like the kingdom, the daemons had made sure to cover their own bases. "Are you done feeling sorry for yourself?" Ito said bluntly "Let me clear up something very quickly because I have lost what little patience I had with crybaby mortals." he sighed a little "It is true at the moment you are weaker than us and so do not stand a chance but that doesn't mean you will always be that way; every life holds merit even if the person themselves do not see it at a certain point in time and all mortals are an eyesore to me but then that is because I don't really like the mentality of your kind but I can appreciate their weakness and their want to overcome it." his voice showed honesty to her his stoic tone becoming somewhat gentle for a moment "I will give you one piece of advice Mistress Verena Nicole Ruhm Reinsberg don't acknowledge their feelings if you do you've already failed instead use it to propel yourself and prove the fools wrong for discarding you as they did. My father is many things but he is no fool and he said those words so you would say what you did now to prove you aren't a timid crybaby without a backbone that you actually do have strength so use it." he didn't care if she wouldn't listen to his words at the end of the day he gave her a piece of advice it was up to her if she wanted to use it to her benefit or not.
"We hope you do reclaim your town and kill us alongside it but we have our orders and duties as you have and so will follow them through to the end. we wish you the best in your endeavour mistress Verena Nicole Ruhm Reinsberg." this word was spoken by the pair and only to Verena, she now knew something no one else in the group did the twins didn't really want to fight in fact they were sick of it and wished for death but they followed their orders as loyal servants did regardless of their own personal feelings towards them. "You're silly, my brother always says there are different types of strength and it's in knowing when and where to use such strength. Don't worry about the strength in battle but perhaps look at the weaknesses of those around you and find ways to cover their weaknesses as they cover yours. Using tactics, after all, is a highly sought after skill as it is an incredible strength as is compassion." the woman said to her warmly trying to encourage her in a less blunt way than her twin. "I am the daemoness Lilitu and the blunt male voice was my twin brother the daemon Ito." she informed her "We are bound by our word as that is how we were raised, strange for a daemon I know but out of the three attacks this was the only city to fall so what does that tell you." she chuckled lightly. "Choose a house and I will personally give them a way out of Kikka so they are safe, would that be enough for you to trust that my brother and I actually want to help guide you?" the woman asked "Or, I could tell you the safest way into the shadow palace my father sits within." she offered her voice showing no hint of trying to deceive her.
Soon enough she and the others were on Salamader's back after the attack from the mana beast, she had asked Chisana a question about the woman's voice and notified what she had been told about the mana beasts at least. It was then she stated they really should have introduced themselves and their magics and started with herself. It was a smart move on her part as then everyone would know everyone else by name and their magics and their specialisations so they could cover each other as needed. It seemed like the timid quiet woman that had walked into Kikka was slowly changing into the woman she needed to become not only for herself but the others around her now and in the future.
During that time it seemed as if the male civilian was having his own moment of inadequacy as he realised that nothing he could do would make the slightest difference within this battle then again it also didn't help that the former Silver Eagle was being taunted by being told he was nothing more than an ant amongst giants and wasn't worth their time due to it. It seemed that this revelation had angered him but then the archdaemon expected that much but something that he hadn't anticipated sparked the ambition for power and the obsession for strength it was a dangerous path the archdaemon sent him on but he didn't care in the slightest even if he could see the goings-on, after all, it was just a game to him and even if he lost he knew he had won on some level due to how he was playing things. As much as Sol would have wanted the time to ponder over the ongoing situation be it what was said to him, how he intended to get the power and strength he now yearned for or the sudden appearance of the communication after losing the former one he didn't have it as the onslaught of the captains continued and his own apparent and imminent demise thanks to the pure aura spikes that were heading his way. He was thankful as the crimson lion captain called out his spirit protecting most of the team from the damage that would have killed at least four of them while severely injuring another. Upon the order to get on salamanders back, he followed it and climbed upon the giant spirit without question like Verena and Joseph telling them his name, magic type and specializations even telling them that he was no good on the front line but was rather a support mage.
The two civilians were in agreement that a plan of action was needed because so far nothing had worked and that the enemy was countering everything that they had been done thus far. It should be clear to the group by that point they were under the ever-watchful eyes of the three daemons who seemed to be tracking their every move. It would seem now that everyone was on the back of Salamander that the Crimson Lion captain agreed with the citizens that a plan had to be made and that splitting up would be the best for everyone. He and the shadow of dawn would aim straight for the head of the problem while he gave orders for the others to evacuate the town. As the dragonic spirit got higher as he flew the group would notice they could see nothing around them it was as if they were flying in the void. "I do apologise for my next action as much as we wish to help we can not allow his 'fun' to be ruined so soon." it was Ito once more he honest seemed apologetic for some reason, what happened next no one could have foreseen.
Story:
The group has decided to leave the mana beasts to it but until she hears the agreement Lilitu will not tell them how to take them out of the equation completely. She and Ito have let it be known that currently Sven can not hear or see anything and they will buy them as much time as they can but it will only be five minutes at best so they should make the best of it. The pair gave a pep talk to Verena and Lilitu even offered two ways she would be willing to show that she could be trusted. Now heading towards the smell of burning flesh Ard has come up with a plan to separate himself and Zaven from the rest of the group to take out the archdaemon allowing the others to deal with the evacuation of the town, however, it would seem that Ito has other plans for the group. They find themselves now enveloped in a darkened smoke and when it vanishes only Zaven and Ard are on the back of Salamander. Rosalia and Chisana find themselves in the park where one of the previous wells had been that the blue rose member Seren had blown up while Joseph, Verena and Sol find themselves within the graveyard in the eastern part of town which seems to have taken some severe damage itself thanks to the mistake of the civilian Genesis when they had been here.

Verena didn't like that look in Sol's eyes. It was dangerous, and she didn't trust it. But ultimately, she knew she had little choice in the matter. She couldn't afford to distrust her teammates right now, and it was perhaps in everyone's own best interest to stick together. She was admittedly still wary of Joseph, but there was little reason to distrust him after he had offered to heal one of them. Distrusting him now seemed like an even worse option.[break][break]
Sol seemed to share in Verena's own sentiment, evident by the fact that he also shared his own magic types in detail. For the brunette, this was a lifesaver. She knew that he used Hex, but she hadn't seen him utilize a single spell yet. More importantly, though, she was truly grateful to everyone who had shared their own magic information with her. It made genuine strategy much easier in the thick of things.[break][break]
Similarly, Sol and even Ardere agreed that they needed to come up with a new plan. Admittedly, this confused the brunette. They went into this without a plan to begin with, and were just winging things, trying to brute force their way to Sven. Because of that, there were unnecessary civilian casualties. The first act was repeating itself here in the second.[break][break]
Ultimately, she was right--though for the wrong reason. Even still, it brought her no pleasure. She was right in thinking to avoid the mana beasts, but she slightly off on the reason. But either way, they were there to slow them down and serve as a distraction. That much, apparently, was true. Still, she was just an inexperienced civilian--little she could have done about trying to convince the captains to just move on and plan an escape. All it came down to was just the fact that this decision was being made now.[break][break]
The Crimson Lions' captain seemed quite adamant in dealing with Sven himself. If she was to guess, it was deeply personal. And why wouldn't it be? These daemons showed up out of nowhere, wreaking havoc where they went, and even took one of their own cities. The people here must have been terrified. Distraught. And because the Magic Knights let them down. If she was in their shoes, the wariness she felt now would have likely turned to genuine anger.[break][break]
"...Captain Ardere," she said, using his title, her voice a bit serious. "I apologize, but you don't have the luxury of thinking of the alternative in this fight. You have to win. And you have to survive. Speaking as someone who isn't a part of the Magic Knights, but a mere citizen instead."[break][break]
Verena's tone wasn't exactly loud--she didn't want to speak to the Captain of the Crimson Lions in such a manner, but he needed to hear this, too. Ardere was one of the few Magic Knights whom she trusted as amongst the 'rule', as Cyrus would have put it.[break][break]
With that out of the way, Chisana presumably discussed the voice, causing Verena to bring a finger to her lip, biting on the nail. It was definitely the same voice. Could she really be trusted? Was it worth the risk? On one hand, it would make the matter of dealing with the mana beasts a non-issue. Or at least, it would make it that much easier to work around the labyrinth of Kikka. On the other, if they were lying, it would only lead them into a false sense of security.[break][break]
But, there was the added layer of a threat. Why add that to begin with if there wasn't a degree of seriousness in this offer? Verena sighed. She, at least, was cornered and had little reason not to. "...I can't speak for everyone, but I at least will agree to those terms. It's not as if I'm interested in fighting to begin with," Verena admitted. "But I'd like to add that if I am attacked, I'd request you not hold it against me for trying to defend myself. I assume that much is agreeable given my physical state, assuming you're aware of that."[break][break]
Of course, Verena said that, but she knew deep down that the twins and Sven himself likely knew. It wouldn't have been brought up--her position within her own family--if they weren't aware of that much. It also wasn't exactly kept secret as well as it could have been. Though it never went beyond the Noble Realm, it would have been easy to acquire such information just by knowing her given and family name. Her golems were impossibly slow as well, only able to keep up with others of their rank, but she had no means to fix that at her level.[break][break]
The female voice mentioned to her that Sven's communication and sight on the group at large was blocked at the current time as well--or at least, mentioned that he was incapable of doing so. So her little pep talk to herself for herself was ... for nothing. Well, that was a little awkward. But the two other voices still had heard it, at the very least. They were still enemies to be defeated.[break][break]
...They were, right?[break][break]
Verena wasn't really sure, but this Ito... he seemed to love to talk. That wasn't a point she held against him, however. Brutal as his words were, she wasn't the sort to get upset from a factual manner of speaking. To him, he was just stating facts based on an assessment--true to Lilitu's words, he was an observer, and it was clear that he had been 'observing' from a front-row position. However, his views on some things were a matter of perspective. One who was superior in terms of strength could not hope to see things from the bottom. It wasn't that his views were wrong; he just lacked that insight.[break][break]
Lilitu's own words carried a sense of tragedy in them as well, but... Verena couldn't get hung up on that, either. Both of these 'siblings' carried a sense of tragedy in their words. The Reinsberg felt it best to allow them to speak everything that they had to say, as it, in turn, would make it easier to respond. But Good God, did they talk a lot. It was at least all pertinent information, and all information that she could digest, but as someone who didn't speak that much aside from when a topic of interest that much, and as someone who was unaccustomed with socializing to begin with, it was certainly bizarre. There was even a question. Why she fought.[break][break]
The Reinsberg frowned. Her motives weren't anything to be commended at least. There were several, but none were especially worth praising. She'd likely fail this test, too. But that wasn't something to worry about right now. She made a mental note of everything that the daemons told her and felt obliged to speak now, paying careful attention to their surroundings as she did.[break][break]
"...Against more intelligent opponents, you can't hope to ensnare them in a trap. Against stronger opponents, you can't expect to best them in battle. You three are likely superior in both aspects to man. That leaves the third option of resigning ourselves to our fate. But we are stubborn creatures. We don't like confronting that reality. This isn't just a fight to reclaim Kikka if you think about it. This is a fight against man's own limitations. Though... perhaps that may just be more idealistic. If history proves anything, we are just prone to violence... though in this case, this violence is reactionary. It's only natural that you'd try to take back something that was forcefully taken from you."[break][break]
"You speak of survival as if one's need for survival is greater than another. Because I have no home, I hunt for my food when I'm not in a town. Is my need to survive greater than the deers, or is the deer's need greater than mine? We're both just trying to live. That's all there is to it. There is no competition. All living things fight to survive in some form. Some may have it easier--those in the Noble Realm are proof of that, but some in exchange suffer in a way that those in the Forsaken or even Common Realms may not. Suffering, surviving, struggling--every living creature has these aspects in their life. Some might not have developed a consciousness to recognize it, but all living things experience them in some form or another. No one creatures' suffering is truly greater than another in the grand scheme of things. In that sense, we're all equal."[break][break]
Verena made sure to speak quietly, so quietly that none but the daemons could hear her, but it was clear she was uncomfortable in her tone. It wasn't that she didn't believe her words, but it was obvious she was forcing herself to speak this much. She didn't like it. It was clearly an experience she wasn't used to, but she let out a resigned sigh. It would be rude not to exchange in this banter, especially when she was admittedly interested in this Ito's philosophy.[break][break]
"I can't pretend that everything in the Kingdom is fair and just. Having lived in the Noble Realm and wandered the Common and Forsaken realms, I realize that more than ever. But it seems like not everything is sunshine in your world, either. Is it the hypocrisy of sugar-coated words that you find foolish? As I mentioned, I don't know how your world operates. But these virtues in Clover's eyes are a very powerful thing. It's not as if all of humanity is awful. There are those who genuinely seek to do good or put in a good effort at it at least. There are orphanages to take care of neglected children, hospitals to take care of the sick. The mentally scarred have no such luck, but that's something I wish to change as well. For every problem, there is at least a number of people willing to do something about it--though there is a limit to the scope that a dozen or so people can do in the face of negligence as vast as this. Do you not count those people in that assessment of yours or were you unaware of it?"[break][break]
"The world is a messy place," Verena began to say, concluding. "...No. It's a very messed up place. There are a number of things wrong with it. Corruption within our own military force. Classism. Poverty. Hunger. And a myriad of other issues that you're likely already aware of. I don't like it. If you ask me why I fight... it's to pave the way to bring about that change. I can't do anything by myself--not with something as grand as this, but if I have other people to support me... then it will be easier to fix at least some of the issues plaguing our kingdom."[break][break]
"...Admittedly, that's one aspect of why I'm here. But that's a long term goal. For now, I'm just here to try to save the people and destroy the wells. To that end, I'm grateful for both of your well wishes, despite the mixed feelings I have upon hearing them, as well as the fact you both wish to perish to begin with..."[break][break]
There was still the matter of the deal that Lilitu had struck with Verena--offering her a choice in the matter, as well as the advice. The quickest path to get to the Shadow Palace, or to evacuate a family. Once more, she brought her finger to her mouth, biting on the nail. What a difficult choice. If they knew where the Shadow Palace was at, then they could hopefully bring an end to this quicker. But there was little doubt in her mind that the fight between Ardere and Sven would be brutal, and there would likely be much collateral damage. There was little chance of preventing that.[break][break]
"...The home that's closest to the Shadow Palace, or that would be at most at risk for the impending battle," Verena answered. "Those people should be escorted out of here. Once it can be confirmed that they've been safely evacuated, then I will give you my trust."[break][break]
Verena took a deep breath. That was it. That was more than she'd spoken in months. She really didn't like it, but she didn't know how to condense all that. This had been on her mind for a while, and she hadn't ever spoken this to anyone. But as she spoke, more words just came to her mind. And of course, there was still the matter of responding to Ito's points. She still kept her tone quiet, as she didn't want to distract any one of her teammates with this banter. Her tone never raised, nor indicated she was upset. To her, this was just conversation. Her tone was careful to not come off as condescending or belittling, but she was aware that her word choice might have come off as the opposite. Ito struck her as thick-skinned, but she was admittedly a little nervous that the daemon might take offense with her for coming off as overstepping her bounds, or pretentious.[break][break]
Even still, she couldn't worry about that. She meant every word she said, and wouldn't apologize to an enemy--even one who seemed to wish the group the best of success--for that. The crimson-eyed woman was a little unnerved, but when she took notice of the void, her eyes widened in fear, as one did when confronting the unknown.[break][break]
"I do apologize for my next action as much as we wish to help we can not allow his 'fun' to be ruined so soon."
[break]
These were the last words she heard before she realized that no harm was done to her. Immediately, she glanced around, taking a look at her surroundings. This seemed to be a graveyard of some sort. From what she could tell, this was definitely the same graveyard that had been damaged previously. How dreadful. It also seemed as though Joseph and Sol were with her, too.[break][break]
...This was unfortunate. It was just the three of them; they were as babes. Not to mention, she couldn't afford to be too lax around Joseph as a precautionary measure. And he was the sole Magic Knight. At the very least, these three knew one another's magic types and strengths accordingly. Verena was confused though. What happened? Was this some sort of spatial magic that separated the group? Was everyone else okay?[break][break]
Well, at nothing else she had already formulated a strategy involving these three when Sol had managed to explain his magic as well as Joseph. But still, the fact that they'd all been separated was cause for concern.[break][break]
Verena went to make sure that she had all of her belongings on her, and that she wasn't injured. "...Are you both alright?" she asked when she was certain everything was normal.

Of course the orange haired individual didn't know of the conversations being had with the demons, outside of what members responded with. Arderes responses had certainly been loud enough for anything to hear with those lungs. Not having paid heed to Verenas lips and being unable to hear her whispers, he of course missed her response to the beings. It was safe to say that Joseph was no longer using the healing spell. It could only be active when touching the target and Zaven wasn't in sight. There was no dragon, nor any sign that the majority of the group was around. At the very least, the orange haired male was on his feet. The area was a sort of darkness the eyes had trouble looking through, a worrying thing for someone who made it their business to figure out everything around himself. It would be nice to say this was a surprise, but that would be a lie. In any case, the spear was put away for the moment. There was no point keeping the hands occupied with something ~We're just toys to them, aren't we? The stronger members of the group are more than likely still together. I don't want to be a game, but if that's what they think of us? I don't have a choice in it.~ Those were dark thoughts he wanted to get out, but seemed too grim to speak to the two others that were there about it.
At the very least, it seemed like everyone that was there had been the ones that had introduced themselves before. Verena had his element, plus more. It sounded like she had a lot to work with, magic wise. The first one to speak after the big change was that very person. His pale pink eyes focused on her, the darkness of the area giving it a darker hue than it typically would. “I'm fine. We should probably asses our surroundings before deciding what to do next though. At the least, this means we're less likely to get immediately killed.” There it had slipped in verbally, hadn't it? The thoughts of his that were a bit dark. ~Should I explain, or move on? We don't have time to waste on my unfounded thoughts.~ His hands signed, using the silent speaking as a way to think out loud once again. It wasn't every day that he met someone who could sign, so it was a very easy method to think things out better without anyone getting in the way. At least he knew the spell that would be most useful now. This was the enemies territory, and with the darkness in the area? That made seeing what was where harder, even for a tracker like himself. ~Reverberation~ Bits of carbon matter were created, making low tapping sounds before they begun to form and create the temporary map that came with that spell.
The map had as many details as the sounds could pick up. That was one good thing at least, the tracking spells wouldn't be effected like his eyes. “I agree with the need for a plan. Should I open communications with the others before or after we figure one out? It might be easier to think of something without a bunch of high ranking persons tossing their thoughts like fists.” It was certainly not something he liked, or maybe it just felt so intense because of the ranks. The reason it had been harder to think before could have also been the amount of people in general, or perhaps that part of him felt guilty about Naxel. Would his senior have been better here if the man had his mind? That was a question he didn't know the answer to. It was better to brush those feelings away, especially since he was no longer near Zaven. These feelings hadn't been there that long ago, but feelings didn't always play fast and furious. There were times that it set in slowly while the mind rushed on other things. At this time Cobborns main focus was getting as many details into the spells temporary map as possible. While he was also listening to the others, the young mans eyes had started to look around their surroundings more. It was then that it finally fully sunk in where they were. For a moment the calm left his eyes.
They were in a destroyed graveyard, but it was still one wasn't it? Was this on purpose? ~Calm down Joseph. We aren't dead.~ What was the point of learning how to verbally speak if panic could still hit like that? His hands were a bit shaky, but the silent speaking hadn't ended yet. ~Take deep breaths, your duty is to save people. To save those in kikka, we need to focus on the tasks at hand. There's likely a group with the strongest, they are best suited for the heaviest lifting. My life is worthless if I kill a single innocent, so it's best to avoid killing or harming enemy targets. We can't tell what's an illusion and what isn't with those, so any wrong move could kill a civilian. The wells need to be destroyed, and approaching the civilians that have remained in kikka might cause them more harm if it's before the city is freed.~ The quiet deep breaths and signing with both hands at such a quick rate were certainly actions that helped reign his heart in a bit. That helped the pale skinned person to finally tuck those feelings back in the slight fear in his face vanishing completely from their expression. “Sorry, I panicked a bit after realizing they put us in the graveyard.”

[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Being told that he was not the one to take down the big bad was a little disheartening he had to admit, but then again...he was here as insurance more than as an active player. When the others disappeared after the daemons did their talking he knew that there was something else that he was missing. He did not yet know what that was though, but before he could really formulate an answer he spoke up to Ardere. ”Regardless of what just happened...we have to trust in them, we all have our job to do...we finish this then we get back with the others.” Zaven was not particularly talkative at the moment, and he knew that Ardere was in control of Salamander. He would reach out with his senses however, trying to keep himself ready for whatever may come. [break][break]
When there was a pang of a familiar thought as if someone was calling out for him he answered back to the unseen voice. ”Speak. What is the situation?” He would ask as he would wait for an answer from the female voice, his hand was fidgeting with the ring he had just picked up. He did not quite know what was about to happen or what he was about to be told.
