Waylynn stood at a road intersection, winter cloths to protect her from the elements with her magic knights mantel over the top of it. She blew a hot breath into her hands, this was why she hated the location of the Green mantis base, it was much too far away from the capital for her liking. The fact that she had to stop multiple times on the way there, such as here in Narin only served to remind her of that and the bustling around the large church in the area made her wonder why it was such a popular mid way point. Still the decorations for Yule were beautiful and Michail had already said they would meet up at this point, There were some reports of mana beasts or at least some mutated creatures harming the people that would go into the forest and rather than respond with just one she had decided to make this a joint mission with her brother. If he brought someone with him then that was well enough but she doubted it was a big enough threat that she and Michail couldn't handle it. "If he doesn't hurry up I'm going to just go and deal with this myself."

Some reports came from the town of Nairn, where some sort of mutated deers were spotted and ended up attacking some of the townsfolk. Not even during the Yule festivities did the Magic Knights get a rest. Naturally, this was a pain in the ass for Charles and the cold climate didn't make things better for him either. He contacted Michail beforehand to which he informed Charles they were going to meet at the town alongside his twin sister to get rid of supposedly mutated deers. The silver mage was partly curious as to how the two twins from nobility would perform in a mission, but in the end, his top priority was to finish the mission as soon as possible, the cold weather just further reinforced that desire. [break][break] Making his way towards the road intersection to enter the town of Nairn, Charles saw a white-haired female in the distance wearing mantle from the Green Mantis. The female also had a very close resemblance to Michail, so his first assumption was that the said female was Michail's twin sister. The two looked almost identical, aside from the fact that they were from opposite genders. Charles was wearing an olive jacket with his magic knight mantle on top. The silver mage eventually approached her raising his hand casually. "Yo. I assume you're Michail's sister, right? He told me he needed help in a mission, so he told me to meet here." The silver mage spoke rather casually, even though he knew for a fact that they were from nobility the Black Bull could care less about their social status. His entire mannerism was something to be expected of someone wearing a mantle with the Black Bull's insignia. [break]

Though some of the kids who wander into the nearby forest have come back to town scared, and sometimes even a little bruised up. Upon inspection when some of the adults have gone to see what lies beyond they have come back injured as well. According to all accounts it appears some of the nearby deer have been mutated by large amounts of mana, and become quite aggressive. It is up to you to fend them off, and prevent the townsfolk from being harassed further.

Ordinarily, Michail would have thought it simply unheard of for deer to be as vicious as he had heard about. Word passed quick within the Magic Knights, and even quicker when said Magic Knight belonged to the Ravencrest family. Perhaps it was because of his relatively ... paranoid nature, but he didn't think it wise to simply ignore it. He was quite confident in his own ability to handle these abominations, but this begged the question.
What could have possibly caused these incidents to occur? It was basically programmed for deer to not be violent creatures. They fled, because they were prey. They were not aggressive animals, and there wasn't anything that could change that. That's what he thought, at least. But there must have been some external factor at play here. For Michail, this wasn't a mission simply to exterminate wild. It was also an investigation. Of course, it was just as possible that he was sending his sister and the other invited person on a goose chase, but that was fine.
Michail had invited Charles specifically because of the fact he was a Kikka survivor, and because the two hadn't had time till now to actually do the mission they agreed upon. They kept getting pulled away to the whims of another--captains, civilians, and other such important details. However, that wasn't the case now.
A Green Mantis. A Silver Eagle. And a Black Bull. Truly, a bizarre group of people to have come together for this occasion. Nonetheless, Michail preferred having his sister on missions alongside him, especially ones that took him far away.
Michail himself was quite well dressed for this meeting of the three--at least, when taken into consideration the cold. He wore a thick black overcoat with matching gloves. Underneath that, a silver mascot could be seen with the Ravencrest family insignia upon it. Custom made, no doubt. His coat hid most of his appearance, but below it, he was wearing a black sweater vest over a white dress shirt with slacks. He had every intention of going to the ball after this was over, after all. But of course, he also donned the Magic Knight mantle.
Michail didn't take long to show up; this time, he was definitely punctual, as it was he who made the request of the two to show up, personally. In fact, he showed up just in time to hear Charles say that he asked for help.
Making his appearance clear as he dredged through the frosty ground, Michail spoke, "No, no. I didn't say I needed your help. I said I'd like for you to tag along with my sister and me on this. If it was just a matter of deer extermination, we wouldn't be here, to begin with."
Michail seemed a bit more serious on this, though it was hard to tell with his usual condescending tone and 'holier-than-thou' attitude that he always managed to maintain, even if he really shouldn't have the ability to. "Surely, you wouldn't think that I'd ever ask for help for something as mundane as this. Those who prepare accordingly are more likely to produce results."

Of course she would be approached by the other magic knight first, Michail was making it a habit to be fashionably late it seemed. And of course he looked like a lazy vagabond stuffed into the attire of a magic knight, but what should she expect from the black bulls in the first place, it's not as if they were known for their impeccable and outstanding mages. In fact she might have called him a liar or assumed he was simply trying to play some elaborate prank if her brother had not been hot on his heels to explain the actual situation.
"I'll take that to mean You expect more than a few mana corrupted animals to be lurking about and you'd rather not be caught without extra back up." She guessed at his intentions, it was likely that the black bull was slightly better at close combat than he was and he intended for this to be something of a deterrent for that. "And I'm almost surprised that you were willing, though your overwhelmingly casual approach I suppose should be expected." She didn't need to explain why that was, if he couldn't figure it out well then that was on him. Well they could get started either way now that they were all here.
"I had less distance to travel so I picked up the exact location information on the way. The attacks have all been coming out of the forest directly to the south, and they don't have to travel that deep into it to find them either. I propose the simple approach, cleanse the area of the creatures and come back to town for a few days to make sure they don't pop up again. While I have no doubt the Azur Deer could handle this on their own they are quite occupied with the festivities." She waved her hand towards the forest as if to say 'and after you'

A Black Bull, Green Mantis, and a Silver Eagle, a strange grouping for sure. Charles particularly didn't care about that, even though he knew Green Mantis were known to be former criminals, impulsive or harsh in nature. He met his fair share of them on previous occasions, the like of Fuu, Valo, and even Vice-Captain Artemis. Though some of them had a rather annoying nature like Fuu, he knew they were a group of people that could be reckoned with in terms of magical power, a good example was Valo and Vice-Captain Artemis herself who was a Ki Master. [break][break] It didn't take long for the man himself, Michail to show up dressed up for the occasion. Charles turned to look the well-dressed noble who by the looks of it was wearing a rather expensive coat. As expected from nobility, they were the types of people to wear expensive clothing even in combat situations, though it was likely because they had enough money to afford another one or had multiple pairs of the same clothing. "Mutated deers, you say. Well, yeah that's true. Then again, even more, of a reason to finish this quickly. Yeah, yeah, sure." His sister later commented on his true intentions as to why he believes Michail brought Charles, quite frankly her deduction about her brother made him want to burst out laughing. They were twins so chances were they knew each other the most like no one else did. "It seems like your sister got you, hah. Eh, I guess so. We came into an agreement quite some time ago, actually. I guess it doesn't harm to do missions with other Magic Knights when the chance presents itself." [break][break] Waylynn seemed to have gathered some information before the arrival of the two, which was certainly useful. Charles looked over at the forest the Green Mantis pointed at. The attacks apparently occurred there, if the information was accurate then they would encounter those mutated deers there. As she waved her hand to enter the forest in a way saying after you, the silver mage was the first person to enter the forest. The first thing he did upon entering was to close his eyes and concentrate on feeling his surroundings using Ki. It didn't take long for Charles to locate the Ki signatures of the deers inside the forest, the fact that they seemed to emit a different signature from your average deer made it easier to spot them as well. "There's at least six of them around here, but there may be more..." The Black Bull opened his eyes and looked back at the twins, pointing out the exact location of the deers, it wouldn't take long for the deers to realize that people have entered their territory and begin attacking. "It wouldn't take for them to realize that we are here." He said in a rather monotone voice tone, his dislike for snow didn't make things better for him, at this point he was even considering getting a hot chocolate on the town nearby after he's done with the mission. Waiting for the reply from the two, he wanted to see if Michail had something in mind after he claimed to be prepared for the situation in order to produce results. [break]

Michail nodded his head, complete with that consistent self-assured smile he always wore. "But of course, I can always count on my dear sister to pick up on these things. I dislike being caught off guard. And besides, after that last dungeon, I've much more to learn. And as such--"
The blonde glanced to Charles. "This esteemed survivor of Kikka is Charles Constatine, a Senior Mage of ... well, I'd rather not introduce a Black Bull for being a Black Bull. So, let's leave it at Charles Constatine, a mage belonging to the Magic Knights who was originally there when Kikka was attacked and came to its defense."
After their encounter, Michail had done a bit of research into the man. There wasn't anything too noteworthy, but using Ravencrest's connections to find out about him was child play. Of course, very little came up about him other than his name, rank, and the fact he was in Kikka. Commoners had a much easier time of not having information about them so accessible; they lived rather ordinary lives, for better or worse. That wasn't to say he didn't have anything accomplished as a Magic Knight, but trying to access that information, he felt, was playing too dangerous a game, especially when he just wanted to make sure he could trust him to watch their back.
Michail listened attentively--a skillset many would be surprised to hear he had--as Waylynn explained the exact details, already listing out a strategy to deal with the threat. Michail agreed; it wasn't as if these deer were likely to pose a threat. The fact that there had been no deaths was both a testament to the fact they had to be removed, but also the fact that they were quite weak despite their alleged voracity. Either way, he nodded his head in approval in regards to the supposed strategy, signaling his approval before Charles spoke up.
"Of course my sister would know me. She's my twin," Michail huffed. "Frankly, I'd be disappointed if she was wrong."
It was obvious that Michail placed a great deal of respect in his sister, and the two despite their... mannerisms seemed to get along just fine. Michail was aware that Charles may view the siblings in a bizarre light; he'd seen many other siblings, and very few interacted in the same way that they did. Waylynn was very tunnel-visioned and focused on her goals, while Michail just casually dismissed most things she said, even insults, as nothing more than jokes on her part. He never had a bad thing to say about her, as she was among the only in their family whom he truly cared about.
Perhaps, precisely because they were twins.
As they headed southbound into the forest, Michail felt he should bring up a proper strategy. "How about the usual attack, dear sister? You at the vanguard and I shall provide cover. Charles, you're free to act as you see fit--not that I imagine you would have it any other way. I know nothing of your specialties, and thus I cannot include you in any sort of plan until then. I trust you understand."
Once they arrived at the forest, Charles immediately managed to sense them--he assumed at least six. Michail placed a hand on his chin. It would be best to pick them apart. It was an easy enough thing to accomplish, but rather than going in guns blazing as he had in the Eldritch House, allowing his sister to take the aggro would be the best move. He could cover her in a worst-case scenario. His grimoire was ready, and the deer had indeed taken notice of them.
It was appalling to see such gentle creatures reduced to this state; their fur was mangy, their eyes bloodshot. Their antlers seemed especially sharp, and their bodies were all especially bulky. This was nothing short of sad. Yet, if there was one skill set that Michail had in spades--perhaps it was his calling card, it was indifference to affairs such as these. And thus, to his group:

They headed into the forest, frankly it was a bit mundane considering an apparent mana spike. The birds were even still chirping, still she wasn’t going to relax so simply. It was at once odd and completely in character for Michail to have introduced their companion in the manner he did, as if she couldn’t see his mantel clearly. She supposed that he simply found saying the name of the squad out loud distasteful, but then he must have seen something that made the mage stand out to him if he was inviting him to join missions. In any case she was glad that Michail seemed to want to improve if nothing else than simply for the sake of it and if that meant working with more people, in or out of his own squad she could only say it was a good thing. She gave a small smile for it .
She answered her twin’s suggestion, it was after all the usual order of operations since Michail faltered if Melee commenced on him.” That’s a fine idea, snow often makes a confusing background for my magic, I doubt they’re going to even know what hit them.” The question she didn’t ask was answered somewhat when Charles seemed to sense the deer before they even appeared from the trees. Finding someone with good senses was something they both learned was valuable rather recently and so now regardless of his battle ability it did seem worthwhile having him around.
Waylynn ran much closer to the deer than either of the other two had been, practically in the middle of them. She pressed her thumb and middle finger in her mouth and let out a loud piercing whistle to catch the attention of the creatures, a ball of condensed salt shot from her hand to peg the closest one and then the predictable happened, all six of them charged at her. ”Truly animals, Salt-nado” That was the plan after all, and with her spell she would really be giving them a hard time.
The whirling spiral of salt whipped into the air like a blizzard uncomfortably rubbing over the mutant animals and stinging their eyes causing them to slam shut. The lead one dropped like a sack of bricks simply from the combined damage it had suffered before and her current spell. The charges of course didn’t stop although Waylynn simply hopped out of the way as they clumsily ran past her and each other without their vision. She observed for a moment brushing her hair back out of her face out of habit before shouting back ”Your turn brother, I’ve tenderized them but wait too long and they’ll already be cured and dry.” She made a small joke, after all venison jerky was made that exact way, although probably with a lot less salt than she was thinking. She knew after all that even if their current compatriot did nothing the deer would be more or less mopped up by her brother’s terribly named attacks.
Salt-nado Elemental Type: Salt Rank & Spell Type: Junior- Attack Creation/ Hex Creation Range & Speed: 10 m/s. 10 Meter Area Mana Cost: 10 Initial / 5 Sustain Stats Effected: Endurance (25% Junior Damage) Applicable Perks: Apex Predator Description: Waylynn Whips up a swirling mass of salt in a ten meter area that scrapes against skin and gives 'salt burns' much like a sandstorm would. She has no ability to leave people out of the area of it so it's not great for team combat. This spell is highly irritating to the eyes and not exactly see-through, anyone caught by the spells area will be blinded for one round if they would be hit/damaged.
Salt Shot Elemental Type: Salt Rank & Spell Type: Junior- Attack Creation/Hex Range & Speed: 25 Meters 10 m/s Mana Cost: 10 Initial / 5 Sustain Stats Effected: - 4 Durability Applicable Perks: Apex Predator, Staggering Curse Description: This spell compacts a ball of salt roughly the size of a fist and launches it at a target, with higher control Waylynn is able to create multiple shots (as per Ammo rules). The balls of salt can leave a nasty bruise or scrape and knock people back 2 meters (plus 5 meters for every 10 power Waylynn has). The shots burst and leave behind a hex that debuffs durability of the opponent's spells.

The two siblings seemed to get along just fine, despite the difference in squads and different personalities. He found it quite strange as to why the other was in Green Mantis, but understanding a bit of her personality the silver mage understood as to why she was in the Green Mantis. Then again compared to the likes of Fuu who he previously met, Waylynn was more calm and level-headed compared to the Wilhelm. Charles didn't know a lot about the two twins aside from the fact that they were from the Ravencrest family, one of the most powerful noble families in the Kingdom. Only time would tell how capable the two twins are in terms of magical ability [break][break] Charles already had located the positions of the mutated deers through Ki. As those deers emitted a different type of energy compared to normal deers. These ones seemed more hostile and aggressive which explained why they were attacking people, even though deers weren't meant to behave that way. Their job was to get rid of them, it could be problematic if those deers began to multiply as they would only bring more issues to the Magic Knights and the town itself. The twins already had a strategy planned out, while Michail didn't know anything about his combat style nor magic it was almost impossible to determine what would suit him. This was fine by him, after all, he already knew what to do. "Alright then..." [break][break] As the twins went ahead and began attacking, it was not surprising that the two had some good coordination. The fact that they were siblings meant that the two used to train and use their magic together from a very young age. The silver mage unsheathed the elegant silver sword that he carried. While the two did their move the Black Bull moved towards the three of the six mutated deers. A pale blue aura began to come from the blade of the sword, as he ran towards the deers. It appeared like they had been blinded previously by Waylynn which definitely made it easier to finish those three deers. Charles swung his sword as a pale blue arc of mana of about 2 meters wide made its way towards one of the deers, followed by two other arcs that targeted the other two blinded deers. The fact that they were blind made it finishing them off extremely easy, which was a chance the silver mage didn't hesitate to take, he wanted to finish this as quickly as possible. [break][break] As he finished off those three deers, Charles took a moment to look around as he awaited for Michail to finish off the other three deers. Using Ki to feel his surroundings in the case they were more of those deers coming to their location, but by the looks of it, the coast was clear as it appeared they weren't any more deers nearby aside from those three remaining. The sooner they're done, the sooner he can go somewhere warm to drink some hot chocolate... [break]

Despite the serenity seemingly at play, Michail remained alert. It wasn't that he believed that the deer were going to overpower himself or his sister, but the situation at large was seriously... bizarre.
For starters, deer didn't just mutate like this. There had to have been another source. Michail was adamant in figuring out what the cause of this was so that it wouldn't be an issue in the future. The duty of a Magic Knight wasn't just to beat up whatever posed a threat; it was to ensure that the threat wouldn't happen again.
If anything, it was more bizarre to him that the Azure Deer weren't handling this. Well, whatever. He wasn't going to make a fuss of it. It was just another achievement for him as far as he was concerned.
Naturally, Waylynn agreed to his proposal, which led the trio to their current situation as it were. Waylynn charged right in the middle of the deer. There was crazy, and then there was his twin. But Michail wouldn't have it any other way. He did wish she had a Spell that she could use as armor, as it'd greatly assist her in this situation, but he knew better. This was just his sister's way of doing things.
To ensure Waylynn's safety while she performed such a reckless maneuver, he opened his grimoire.
"Blood Creation Magic: Really Awesome Bloodblade!" the 'youngest' of the two declared as two deer were readying to charge Waylynn.
Crimson constructs, four in total were shot towards the approaching deer as they struck the beasts right in the sides of their body. However, the low lethality rate of the Spell resulted in them still being operable. However, being hit in such a spot momentarily stunned them, giving Waylynn enough time to land her Spell and blinding the group at large.
"Dear sister, you can be so reckless," Michail mused as he launched another Spell at those two deer, now blinded as a result of Waylynn's own Spell.
"Blood Magic: Very Very Crazy Arrow Go!" he proudly declared as four more constructs were shot at the blinded--and heavily injured--reindeer with enough force to not just knock them off their feet, but also to knock them back aways. The attacks weren't destructive, but they held enough force to finish off these two remaining reindeer between his first spell, his sister's own, and then this. It was internal injuries that had bested these beasts.
Without having to use a spell of his own, Charles had swiftly dispatched of three reindeer himself, which left the youth quite impressed. "Very good. As expected of a commoner, your prowess for physical violence is as good as it gets!"
"...I'd like to suggest we continue investigating around," Michail said, staring at the carcasses of these six reindeer, concern and frustration evident in not just his tone, but his expression. "...Reindeer don't just act like this on their own, and it bothers me not knowing what the cause of it is."

There was no doubt that the creatures were cleaned up by their little group after they exacted their maneuver, if she were more naïve she might have let her guard down immediately after her twin had landed his attacks. She was no fool though, they were still sitting in a forest with a high mana concentration. "I'd hardly call the maneuver reckless, I simply have no reason to fear with you as my back up. I would be far more careful should I be teamed with someone less capable of watching for my blind spots." And that was true, if only Charles were there she would have been much more reluctant to have charged ahead, although she still might have she would just have been a bit more careful about it. "Besides, I am no frail common girl, it would be a disgrace to our family name if I were to be beaten by mere reindeer. Still I suppose we could check the area for more."
They wouldn't be at it for very long most likely, an animal territory could only be so big, and getting back they would just have to talk to the church or the Azure Deer for how long they'd like them to stick around.

Charles paid attention to Michail's use of magic, blood magic. That was a rather find, but he did meet a blood mage a long time ago in his early days as a Magic Knight. Waylynn on the other hand used Salt Magic, it was his first time ever seeing a user that uses salt, which he found a bit interesting. The two twins had some good coordination in terms of their magic, one of them blinded the deers and the other took that as an opportunity to attack them. The Green Mantis move was a rather dangerous one, but it proved to be effective as it allowed the two to get rid of the deers without many problems. [break][break] After Michail finished off the two remaining deers. The area was clear by the time being, those deers weren't much of an issue for three Magic Knights. Something was off, deers weren't normally hostile and their Ki was different from the rest. The Silver Eagle suggested taking a look around before carrying around. The silver mage took a look around at the place, using his Ki to track any unusual signatures, but everything was clear. Aside from the now-dead deers, it kind of bothered him knowing that some deers were able to cause enough issues to call the Magic Knights. Charles walked around the surrounding area, not finding anything with his eyes or any sort of unusual Ki was found. [break][break] "Everything is clear, I don't see or detect any unusual energy signatures." He said, as he looked over at the twins stating that they were no other enemies nearby. Since they were now done, it was time for them to head back to the town and report that they've gotten rid of the deers. It was surprisingly easier than he expected, but that was a good thing, right? Anyway, Charles began making his towards the town that was not far away from their current location, he assumed the other two Magic Knights would come along with him. Praise would get one everywhere when it came to Michail. There was never a compliment that he wouldn't accept, but it was always nice to receive praise when it came to his talent as support. That type of faith placed in him was quite comforting in truth. Ravencrest didn't usually hand out praise like this--when they did, it was because it was a fact in their eyes. Not that he minded; it only made it more sincere.
"You are quite right about that dear sister. You truly are as tough as they come," Michail mused. Indeed, Waylynn was a tough breed. Given her aspiration, it only made sense that she would be ...well, the way she was.
Charles hadn't demonstrated anything especially unique about his fighting, but Michail noted that his sensory skill, whatever it was he might have been doing, was largely superior to both his and his sister's. It made him something of an asset, and it would likely serve useful in the future. It was a good call bringing him here.
The inspection was brief; there was nothing tying the reindeer to anything in the area, at least. On one hand, that was a relief. On the other, it only worsened this feeling in the pit of Michail's stomach.
Charles confirmed that there were no abnormalities present, but that did little to actually resolve the concern Michail felt. He hoped that the others thought something was off, too. If there was no cause in the surrounding area, then that likely meant that there was no cause such as irregular mana or anything in the area that would warrant off hazarding the forest off.
