The Yule Festival was quickly approaching and admittedly, Verena had little idea of how she wanted to spend it. With her family, she would attend the ball. But since she had since ran away, she had little interest in attending those sorts of festivities. There were other things, of course, such as the decorating of the tree -- she had heard that it was to be the largest tree this year -- but in the past that still meant having to approach others in some form. Still, even if she held little interest, she always attended the tree decorating festival. To be content with just watching and observing others, to find solace in human interaction even if not involving herself directly. To feel like she belonged when she knew better.[break][break]
But this year was different. Verena was feeling... responsibility. Not for anything she had done, but what she had to do. The heiress felt no shame in running away those years ago; after all, it was quite clear that the family wanted her gone. Her father had made sure of that. But she also felt a tinge of regret; she knew her aunts and uncles well enough to know that they would never be able to decide on a head. No doubt the Reinsbergs were facing an unprecedented amount of issues, and their constant bickering would never allow them to settle.[break][break]
If left unchecked, there could be a massive fallout the likes of which the family would never recover from. She had to prevent that, as it seemed she was the only member of the family who could put her individual pride on hold for when it mattered most. Erebus probably could as well, from what little she could remember of her younger cousin, but...[break][break]
As Aries Garse came into sight, the beauty couldn't help but sigh as she was lost in thought. This was going to be a tough choice for sure; the ball was more suited for her finding backers willing to support her. Though, as it stood Verena also had little to give. So perhaps it wasn't too important yet? But at the same time, ugh. She was so busy thinking that didn't even notice she'd gotten stuck in a literal sense, to where moving was next to impossible given her physical limitations.[break][break]
Wait, she had got stuck? That didn't sound right; she was just thinking. Verena snapped out of her stupor and realized she had arrived at her destination in the form of Aries Garse. She was taking a rest here, far away from the chaos of the festival preparation that plagued the Common and Noble Realms, as Aries was among the only places in all of the Forsaken Realm where she felt truly at ease. She couldn't quite get used to the farming communities that made up some of the other towns, and ... the Rogue's Refuge was not a place for her to be.[break][break]
There was snow everywhere. This was absurd. Verena glanced around, confused. How had she missed this? Ugh, ever since Kikka she'd been plagued more and more with thoughts. With uncertainties and doubts. Even though she was trying to take a step forward, everything that had transpired then riddled her mind with doubt.[break][break]
Vaile Valentine--no, Vaile Blake's imprisonment did little to ease her mind, too. She had very little knowledge of what had happened that brought him to endanger the lives of those around him, but she could easily guess why he was there to begin with. He was worried about her. He didn't want to lose her. Seph had told her a lot about what made Vaile... well, Vaile. Someone like Vaile had little interest in saving lives, not that she could blame him. Nor could she blame him for believing that Kikka was too much for her. For all intents and purposes, it was. She had no reason to be alive right now.[break][break]
But she was.[break][break]
However, Vaile wasn't allowed any visitors at this point in time, as there was still much to review she had heard. So her answers had to wait. Between Vaile, her own family, as well as this snow that had appeared from seemingly nowhere, the brunette was admittedly a little stressed out. It seemed like she had little choice in the matter.[break][break]
But, there was at least one thing she could control right now.[break][break]
Her grimoire floated in the air as she cast a spell. "Summoner Creation Magic: Arachne's Heartache," she declared.[break][break]
As if on cue, cloth sprung up from the ground, wrapping around itself in a myriad of strange and bizarre, yet fantastical manner reaching up to being over twice Verena's own height. It possessed a massive left arm, almost as tall as she herself was. The golem was easily spottable.[break][break]
"Carry me," Verena ordered as the Golem lowered it's right hand to the ground, kneeling down to assist its caster. The right arm was leveled with the ground, as Verena took a seat in the palm, before being hoisted to the ground. It seemed like the entirety of Aries Garse was in this condition...[break][break]
Verena would have to help. It would at least be a good distraction, but more importantly, it would likely be appreciated by the people at large. Chances were that they were all stuck in snow this deep.

The golem is incapable of moving faster than three meters per second when transporting a person. The fabric itself semes to be folded alongside a variety of other fabric, though the main color seems to be various shades of brown. The golems left hand is what it uses for attacking as well as defending due to it's massive prportion, easily being roughly the size of its body. This same arm serves as its primary form of attack and defense--that is to say, it shields whomever it is transporting in its right hand with its left. Due to the many layers of cloth all interwined so tightly together, it can cause blunt damage to whatever it hits with it, while also having a three meter reach. [attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Zaven Blake, the Shadow of dawn awoke that morning in a cold sweat, still finding it impossible to shake his nightmares of The Shattering, he even looked over to his nightstand and saw that it was empty, not even a glass of water was waiting on the man. He worried he was slipping up and his old habits were coming back...he gave a soft sigh before getting up, his nude form was absorbing the soft sunlight that poured in through the window which was a welcome sight for the shadow mage...and well if anyone happened to look up at his room, it might have been a welcome sight for them as well. [break][break]
Walking away from his bed the Golden Dawn captain would start a shower, the water pressure was just right and the heat quickly made the room begin to fill with a hanging steam that made the hairs stand on end all over his body. He pulled a dagger out of the rucksack he brought with him and began to shave the small stubble he had accumulated and cut his hair with a unique precision that comes from his upbringing. After the shave and cut he stepped into the shower and cleaned himself before drying off and dressing for the day ahead. The air inside the main bedroom was still surprisingly warm, even if the outside air bit into his skin harder than any woman ever could. He wore a black quilted gambeson that covered his thighs that included gold trimming and buttons with the crest of the Golden Dawn sewn over his heart. A black belt at his waist, his grimoire holster was fastened and traveling pants with his usual black boots. He hoised his axe over his shoulders and into the harness strapped to his back. The captain looked more like a man dressed for war than a man out to just find some answers and to personally follow up on a lead for his mother. He looked out the window for the first time and saw that the snow flurry from the night before had turned out much worse than he thought in the end. ”Well...that is what happens during this time of the year...freak storms and dungeons rising from the ground of a neutral town.” He expressed a rather shocking look in the reflection of the window before turning towards his own door and stepping out and traveling downstairs into the main hall where breakfast was still being served, a warm feeling overtook him as he sat down on a bench and a plate was delivered to him shortly after with a mug of spiced cider. Zaven ate the breakfast as he listened to the room, the rumors that were going around and even a few jobs he might just undertake for the hell of it, but the fact that he wore the Golden Dawn crest...people were often looking at him like a bad guy, which he did not care for...at all. [break][break]
Once finished he stood up to take his leave when the master of the inn, a frail looking old timer, stopped him and handed him a few yul and asked with tears in his eyes. ”Sir...could you do an old man a request and please take a shovel and clean the area near the stables and check on the houses nearby...my business is affected by this freak storm but my family live near the outskirts since they cannot live in the proper part of town due to the dungeon and casinos...please sir, this is all the wages I would have paid my stable boys…” Zaven was not stunned, he had received requests like this from time to time, the man was a servant to the people of Clover after all so he just sighed and gave the man back the yul. ”Keep it, just don’t charge me room and board during my stay and I will see to it that there are a few pathways from the outside to the stables and dig your family out if needed. Stay warm old man, and save some ale for me later, I hear that the farmers around here are renown for their brewing.” Zaven said before heading for the door, grabbing a shovel as he stepped out into the cold wind. He used his own muscle to begin pushing snow from the entryway as he did not speak much, nor did he really break a sweat as manual labor was good for one's body after all.

As Verena entered the town, she realized that it was far worse than she could have imagined. She knew that snow laid waste to the entrance, something that was already bad, but these people were practically trapped inside their homes--if they were even inside at all. This was too much to ask of anyone.[break][break]
Someone spotted Verena and her golem as she entered the town. "E-Excuse me, miss!" the stranger cried. "Could you please help me? Our shovel just broke the other week... we can't actually do anything about this snow... I'm sure other people would be grateful for help. Golem magic, right? It would be very helpful for us if you did so. We can pay, as can a few others."[break][break]
Verena was high above the ground, so the person did have to raise their voice a bit amid the frigid winds, but she heard her loud and clear. With a silent nod, Verena agreed to these terms, her expression stoic. There was little to say on this matter; rather. She needed the yul, and she also wanted to help. That seemed like a fair compromise.[break][break]
Verena felt that it would be best to avoid a commotion and just stick to Arachne's Heartache, rather than cast several other elemental golems she had access to. She wasn't interested in showing off her magic, anyway. If only she'd trained with Ardere by this time to get a fire golem; this would be over quickly. Well, it didn't matter; after all, Arachne was a golem intended for sweeping attacks; snow shoveling was just sweeping.[break][break]
From her grimoire, she recast the spell twice, summoning a total of six golems between the casting more of the same golem and thus making her total seven. She was ill-suited for physical labor, but to compensate for that, she could make use of her golems to make up for her own weakness. That was what she had been doing all these years, after all.[break][break]
"Sweep the snow away from the homes. Do not harm buildings or people in the process. Do not use your full strength," she ordered her golems as they moved out, acting individually so as to cover more ground.[break][break]
As she did so, she took notice of Zaven, and a curious expression befell her. The Golden Dawn captain, here of all places? She knew little of him besides he was the Blake family head, as well as someone Cyrus seemed to hold in high regard. She viewed the Vice-Captain in a positive light, but admittedly some of the Golden Dawn's actions did cause her concern. He was reckless, and not in a way that she thought of positively.[break][break]
However, Kikka was... a different type of battleground. It wasn't fair to hold him to the same standards that she normally would hold Magic Knights to, even captains. Her own idea of what battlegrounds were not what she had in mind for Kikka. The weight and gravity of the situation she felt then were incomparable to anything she could have imagined. Until she had more experience, it was best to keep her opinions on everything that had happened to herself.[break][break]
...Verena would always keep her opinions to herself on that.[break][break]
Still, what Zaven doing all the way out here? This wasn't anywhere near where he should be--the Golden Dawn's base was all the way back in the Royal Capital. She had very little knowledge about the man, and thus there was little reason to ask herself questions; she'd get no answers. She had her golem set her down, as she stared at him, uncertain of what he was doing.[break][break]
Verena had her golem go back to work while she (albeit with great difficulty) dredged her way through the snow. There was a very important question she wanted to know. Normally, she'd try keeping her distance--not because she disliked Zaven, but because she didn't want others finding out about who she was. However, she had already given her name out in Kikka. There was nothing to hide given he was a Blake.[break][break]
"...There's a Reinsberg in the Caldur branch, right?" she inquired once she was close enough; assuming she could get his attention, at least. She made sure to minimize energy spent. "...How is he doing? Do you know his name? Is he... safe?"

[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] After cleaning the snow, removing it from the stables main entryway and around the area he then made sure to shovel the snow away from the walkway of the front entrance of the inn. The Blake noble was more than happy to get his hands dirty as he knew he would not normally get a chance to do such a thing. He began to walk down the sidewalk, looking out at the places where people were gathering, noticing a few others with shovels or magic to help them get rid of the snow. He did not waste any time either as he began to shovel the sidewalk and larger walking paths, the shadows would seem to retreat due to the snow, which was an odd occurrence. [break][break]
Coming up on a small shack that seemed to be built into an alleyway he noticed that the people were trying to dig their way out and some were even asking for help. Zaven was quick to come to the rescue as he began to shovel his way into the alley and eventually make it to a frozen door. Peeking inside he could see that there were only children and young adults hanging inside the makeshift house, using whatever they could for warmth and food. Zaven took pity as he freed them from the makeshift house and gave their leader his room key. He would not need it, as long as he could make sure that people were taken care of. Giving the leader a small sum of yul he also left off with the shovel to find the innkeeper’s house. [break][break]
As he made his way through Areis Garse he finally saw a familiar face...Verena Reinsberg. She approached him without much of a fuss as Zaven just continued doing the community work he had started earlier, his breath making the air steam up a little as he worked. Finally as she closed the distance she asked him about a member of her family. Zaven gave the matter some thought before finally giving a smile as he remembered the name when she mentioned the Caldur branch of his family. ”Julien.” He said with a soft voice as if to just keep her at the edge. ”I know of him, yes. Have I spent much time around him...no. If you wish to talk more about your family member...let’s finish up shoveling snow.” Zaven said with an indifferent tone as he walked in the direction towards the innkeepers house.

...So that's how it was going to be. Well, the Shadow of the Dawn had already given her an important detail that she hadn't had prior: a name. So his name was Julien then. To that end, she was already grateful, but she had hoped that a Family Head would have been more willing to share information about one of her own with her. There was also an attempt at friendliness too, which was appreciated--even if his tone contradicted that. Still, it wasn't like her to complain; or at least, to vocalize her complaints.[break][break]
"...In that case..." Verena said as she watched Zaven return to the in before returning her focus to all of the golems in the town.[break][break]
All seven golems were doing as instructed, but in the distance, there was another house. As if to prove her seriousness on the matter, and using the last of her ability to cast Spells while she had these other seven golems active, Verena summoned three more Golems to tend to the homes, giving them the same instructions as the others.[break][break]
This was technically ten total; however as Zaven had cleaned up two homes, that meant she had two extra golems to shovel snow off roofs, while the others could unblock doors and other entrance and exit paths. It also allowed her to take care of the remaining home that neither she nor Zaven had covered initially.[break][break]
The first home was a rather well-built home. It wasn't extravagant, but it was sturdy. The fact that the golems were able to sweep the snow right off the roof without damaging even a single shamble was a testament to its construction. After the snow was shoved off, another golem that was there used it's long arm to sweep the snow off from the front door away, careful to avoid damaging any part of the house as well--per Verena's instructions, pushing the snow away from the home and closer to the 'road'.[break][break]
The second home was too tall--even if just barely, for the next golem to actually get the snow off the home. There was a solution she could use to work around this, but for now, she was focused more focused on trying to clear the doors for civilians who were still trapped. It was difficult to gauge just where each door was at when she wasn't personally right at each individual home, which in turn made this ordeal a bit more difficult, but she was very astute, watching all of her golems with precision.[break][break]
Even if she couldn't see the doors, based on the size of the homes as well as their shapes, she could accurately guess where the snow was blocking and could manipulate her golems accordingly, ensuring to cause no damage to the homes.
The third home was much more manageable compared to the second and only needed one golem to effectively take care of it. With one swipe, it managed to successfully wipe away the snow and began pushing it back into the road. It was very quick, and that made it a major relief.[break][break]
Verena noted that the fourth seemed to a damaged home. This one, she felt it best to be especially attentive to and thus had her golem move slow. It wasn't a large house, and thus it would have been easy to just do what she did with the previous house, but this one required a bit more effort because she had to be especially careful. It at least wasn't Gaia; Arachne's Heartache could be operated in a very careful manner. All of her focus was sent on this one, and thus all other golems had ceased operating for the time being to ensure she could avoid damaging this house.[break][break]
Thankfully, it seemed as though she'd managed to remove as much snow as she could without risking damaging the home, even from the roof. The owners were able to exit their homes, and Verena had this golem leave the home to assist the fifth house. She noticed that they seemed to be inspecting the home as a precautionary measure, but they didn't seem upset at least. What a relief...[break][break]
With that taken care of, she had her golems get back to work, spread out against the fifth through eighth houses. The fifth was much like the second, but unfortunately, it was just barely taller than the golem's maximum reach. However, the other golem there had managed to pile the snow into the road, allowing a single middle-aged man to leave the home.
"Hey! Missy! Mind using these golems to get me on the roof?" he called out. "I can take care of the snow myself from up here, though just keep an eye in case I slip. If you can get your golem to lift me up, I can take care of the snow up there!"[break][break]
Verena was able to hear him, but she wasn't sure if she should or not. Glancing towards the man's roof, there was quite a bit of snow. It probably would be bad to leave it as it was, but she just didn't want to be held responsible for any injuries he received while on the roof.[break][break]
Still, the man would have to clean it eventually. Ugh, truly a frustrating situation. To try to remove the snow off the roof was beyond her physical limitations, and the man seemed to be in good enough shape to not have to worry about getting hurt. But unfortunately, even if she wanted to, that wasn't possible. The right arm was much too short to be able to lift the man to the top of the house, and the left arm was not meant to serve as a lift.[break][break]
Verena had to shake her head solemnly, earning the ire of the man. It was simply beyond her ability to help him right now even if it pained her to admit that. "Lazy good for nothing wench! Can't do anything on your own, can you? Ugh, whatever!"[break][break]
Verena couldn't help but sigh. It wasn't that she was annoyed or even upset with the man. She just wished she could have helped, but at her current level, that just wasn't possible. She hoped that his home could whether the snow for just a bit longer.
The sixth home was thankfully very quick and easy, much like the third. There were no issues with this, and a child even came out with a bright smile on his face, waving her way. He began jumping about in his warm clothes, before making snow angels. How nice.[break][break]
The seventh home was quite easy as well. It was actually among the quaintest homes she'd seen thus far. It wasn't too big, nor too small. She could make out a vase in the distance with flowers from the window sill. She wasn't exactly sure what type of flowers, but they were pretty--captivating, even. She wondered what kind of people lived there.[break][break]
Lastly, the eighth house. This was a massive home--likely, a wealthy person lived here--or at least wealthy for one in the Forsaken Region. It wasn't gated off; otherwise, there was nothing she could do to help. However, there was quite a bit of land, which also made it easy to find a place to move the snow onto without obstructing paths.[break][break]
The issue was that the home's front door had a cover over it, kept up by pillars. Removing that much was an easy enough thing to do, but between the wind, there was still quite a bit of snow that had managed to pile up in that area. Thus, she had one golem lay down, and use it's left arm to push the snow out from there, while others moved the snow out of the way.[break][break]
There, that was all eight homes. She was finished now.[break][break]
Due to the fact these golems were all working at once (aside from the instance of the fourth house, as well as the eighth), she was able to finish in roughly ten minutes, before going to meet Zaven in the inn that she saw him return into. She wanted more information, after all...[break][break]
If only the world was that simple after all, a looming threat on the horizon sought to complicate the first instance of learning about this Reinsberg--this Julien--she had come up with in her life since her training with Vaile in Hollow's Nest. But at least, she could dismiss her golems now.
