Bengal dashed through the shifting snowfields that decorated the woods of Nairn, his eyes shifting occasionally to their surroundings as his ki pointed out various life signatures. Nothing stood out as overwhelmingly potent, nothing glowing like a beacon in the dark. The Yeti's life force was something he'd become accustomed too at this point. With no sign in sight, he simply continued running as they came closer toward the rising hills of snow, bursting through it at his high pace before skidding to a halt along the surface of the ice.
Before them was Nairn, currently with a slightly shimmering barrier up with several Azure Deer knights desperately trying to maintain it. Though there was no current attacks on the town, the ground was littered with chunks of hard ice from projectiles being hurled at the barrier. Bengal released a slow breath as he rotated his arms in their sockets. Defenses were all well and good but...
"The Greenhorns aren't good enough to counterattack, just protect. They take shifts and put the call out for help." As Bengal explained this, bemused, he drug the deer bodies toward the wall without concern. Walking through it as the nearby mage nodded toward them once. Bengal tossed the tree full of mutant deer to the side within the barrier before turning to face the young lady, Verena.
"Right, need any preparation before we go delving into the deep dank forestry? The Yeti are usually in pairs. They use snow and ice magic instinctually and are about as intelligent as an ape. They formulate basic strategies, ambushes, erect defenses to bombard from and so forth." As he explained this he would scratch his chin idly. "You'll probably be fine against them, frankly. But I'll act as Vanguard anyway. As well..." he tilted his head to the same, lifting a hand up.
"May I have consent to give you a bit of protection?" She hadn't liked being touched. As powerful as his enhancements were, he didn't wish to make her uncomfortable.

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll"] Verena naturally couldn't keep up. Even at her top speed--which was just a mere ten meters a second with this Despair Billy, Bengal was more than twice as fast as she was. As expected of someone of his strength and fame. But there was no point in getting hung up on that sort of thing as it were. What mattered is that she had a strong and reliable ally to deal with this ordeal, in case things went wrong.[break][break]
It seemed as though the group was going back to Nairn--or rather, Verena was. When she was there previously, she had heard of the barrier at play, but she thought that it was related to the deer. There were many wounded after all. However, it would make sense that the barrier was in play for something like yeti. Those deer weren't problematic enough to cause any Magic Knights problems, but yeti? That was more logical.[break][break]
It also made sense as to why there was ice lying about when she had left. She just thought it was Magic Knights training, but no... it was these 'Greenhorns', as Bengal put it trying to lay siege upon the town. How dreadful...[break][break]
Bengal explained their attack patterns and the way they fought, even giving an estimation of their intelligence. These were all important factors that she had to consider when trying to devise a way to deal with them. Ugh, if only she had a fire golem. This would make things so much easier.[break][break]
"...If they attack in groups, then it might be easier to pick them off individually," Verena mused. "...I do have a golem that I could use to try to separate them, or at least serve as a distraction."[break][break]
The young woman seemed lost in her own head, as if trying to figure out a proper strategy. She knew she couldn't compare to the raw power of Bengal, but she also wanted to be useful all the same. It was at that point Bengal offered some protection.[break][break]
Verena tilted her head curiously. "...What do you mean?" she inquired. "If you mean something like Physical Reinforcement Magic, I'm afraid my body wouldn't be able to keep up. It's something that was done in the past, so... I'd only burn myself out quicker, or get hurt…"

Despair Billy appears as a giant patchwork doll--closer in design to a voodoo doll than anything else. It's body is crafted from various types of cloth of different colors. This same yellow appears on the top right of its head, whereas the left half of its head is a lifeless blue blue. It possesses no neck, and from its right shoulder to the start of its left forearm, as well as its left part of its chest and rib cage is red. A heart can be seen stitched on on the opposite side of its body, albeit crudely attached on to it. It is easily taller by a considerable degree than a human being, standing at six meters in height.[break][break]
Though the golem is capable of transporting up to two people, the speed at which it is capable of doing so is no more than [10 m/s]. Unlike Verena's other golems, Billy is suited primarily for attacking, though it still keeps up with Verena's primary objective of not killing, as the strikes from it are all blunt. Bengal smiled softly at her immediate lunge into tactics. Her ideas were solid. Picking them off individually was the best bet. Though the tactics weren’t required, since he knew full well he could kill the Yeti bare-handed without even using magic from experience. But, it was good that she wanted to be involved. Her shift into using a golem as a distraction caused him to smile softly. The movement fit oddly on his features.
“I think that’s a solid plan. I can sense their energy which will ensure we suffer no ambushes as well, but I can only track them the… conventional, way.” He chuckled, pointing down at the snow. “Tracks, blood trails, smell, so forth. Ki’s range isn’t comparable to that of proper sensory magic, after all.” The word was an unknown to many. But he didn’t mind explaining if such was needed. Instead he moved on to her actual question.
“Physical Reinforcement, yes. But I assure you, it will do you wonders of good for risk factors.” With this his hand opened, and gently reached up to hover a hand a few inches away from her body. Suddenly static electricity crackled, spreading across his own body and then her own. Instantly she’d feel the ebb of his mana flow across her. Physical power augmenting greatly, speed and reaction increasing as well. But more importantly…
“Your wounds will heal… quite rapidly, now. As well any debilitating effects will be nullified before they can effect you.” As he explained this he would tuck his hands into his pockets idly. The same electricity coursing across his own body. “I don’t recommend throwing a punch with your physique, but now at least if there’s an emergency you can. Any damage you do to yourself will be healed near instantly.” As he explained this he would rotate his hand along the hilt of his blade, before shifting his gaze toward the golem.
“What was your plan, using the golems? I”m all for utilizing various advantages, after all.” He didn’t make it this far by assuming the bastards were always going to go according to plan after all.

So that’s what it was, then? Ki. She had heard of it faintly but had no idea what it was really about. She knew that it was a technique employed by those in the far east, but other than that Verena had little idea about it. It seemed as though it could be used as an alternative to sensory. Was that how the man had managed to read her mind? She wasn’t really sure, but she wasn’t going to ask. It seemed especially useful, whatever the case was. A mage who wasn’t talented in sensory could still potentially learn to sense ki.[break][break]
“The same applies to me,” the Reinsberg admitted. “All I can do is go off tracks, sounds, so on and so forth. Winter is both a blessing and a curse when it comes to hunting.”[break][break]
Verena wasn’t the sort who ate much, but she had to keep up her body’s temperature somehow. She needed a bit more during this time, especially when she wasn’t in a town, or given shelter. Thus, the best she could realistically do would be to hunt more. Deer especially were sought after, as she often had leftovers for quite a while. It was only when other predators were drawn to camps that she would leave, as she very rarely managed to finish an entire deer herself before another animal was drawn to it.[break][break]
Bengal explained what the magic he planned on using was going to consist of; though only after applying it. He didn’t actually touch her, though Verena’s own natural instincts took effect and she subconsciously moved her arm when she thought he was going to, but placed it back when she realized what he was doing.[break][break]
This was effectively a healing spell above all else. That was a relief to her. She was admittedly grateful that he explained the effects, rather than letting her find out for herself. At a certain point, it was only natural to assume that others would pick up on things when one was strong enough. The White Tiger seemed to have enough sense to know that that wouldn’t be something she was capable of doing all that well.[break][break]
“Using a Sound Golem, I can alert their attention. By placing them at different points and having them emit different sounds, this should be enough for them to look into it. I couldn’t have both more than twenty meters away from where I’m at. If this goes according to plan, then that leaves one for you to eliminate right away, and I can have more golems in wait to ambush.”

Bengal nodded his head once as she explained her plan, though he noticed her shrink back it was already something they’d addressed. No point in continuing to poke a subject that was clearly something she was uncomfortable with. So he focused on the idea she offered after being certain she had a grasp on what the magic would entail for her. Lifting his gaze up in thought as she commented on using a ‘sound golem’.
He glanced at the golem she was currently riding on. A hum filled his chest. Clearly… not sound. So she had an oddity in the element? Or had two elements, similar to himself as his grimoire had evolved after eating his father’s heart? His hand lifted, scratching his chin in thought before shrugging slightly. It was none of his business, and for now it was useful.
Turning and making his way toward the barrier once more Bengal would move forward, one hand resting on the blades hilt while the other tucked into his jacket pocket. “It sounds like a decent idea to me,” Bengal answered simply. “It’s how I used to hunt quite a bit. Physical camouflage and stealth is one thing, my ability to hide my mana is simply lacking at the moment. Though I’m working on it. I still have a long way to go.” He chuckled softly. Even if he was stronger than most, Bengal at his heart still considered himself weak.
Until he could stand, and confidently state that he was able to single-handedly crush an Arch-Daemon’s face into the dirt the next time one appeared, along with his whole fucking army, Bengal was weak. That was the bottom line.
“Let’s try it out. I know where I’ve seen them a few times and killed them. Worst case it backfires and I have to get a bit serious.” He smiled softly, glancing back toward the woman and her golem as they walked. “If things to get dangerous, promise me you’ll come to my side alright? It gets dangerous to be away from me when I have to start using any kind of ranged magic.”

Verena smiled--even if just faintly--upon hearing Bengal’s praise of the idea. The woman knew that there were a few things wrong with it--for starters, nothing was set in stone that the yeti would actually approach these golems. Even if they did, who was to say that they would do so independently? And of course, the most pressing issue was would they even get close enough for a surprise attack to actually successfully succeed? She knew all of this, but with her limited abilities, it was the best she could do right now. Even still, she wanted to contribute as much as she reasonably could.[break][break]
Bengal mentioned that he lacked the means to actually hide his mana, but Verena wasn’t worried about that. She very much doubted something like yeti had the ability to sense mana, to begin with. While it wasn’t out of the realm of impossibility if they only had the intelligence of a monkey, that also meant that there were developmental processes that they had yet to fully develop. Sensing mana was a delicate thing, after all.[break][break]
Still, the woman wasn’t so arrogant or full of herself that she didn’t think it a possibility. Animals acted on instinct, and thus the idea of simply fine-tuning something didn’t exist. They either had the capability, or they didn’t. If they had the ability to sense mana, then there was little reason for the yeti to actually engage the golems she was going to create. At most, they’d just hurl ice and snow as they had done before. That was something to be careful of as well.[break][break]
“Lead the way. Please let me know when we’re getting close. I’ll go on foot so as to not draw attention with my golem,” the crimson-eyed girl said.[break][break]
The truth was that Verena was immensely uncomfortable about not being on her golem for this, but she was also even further curious about this. Her inquisitive nature wanted to actually see the yeti with her own eyes, and the best way about doing that was luring them into a trap. No question if they could see through it, she would be in a really bad situation. Even still, her natural curiosity outweighed the sense of peril--perhaps because she had someone like the White Tiger with her.[break][break]
As they traveled the white nothingness of the forest, Verena had instructed her golem to move as quietly as possible. She couldn’t afford to disturb the scenery less the yeti pick up on their movements. If it wasn’t for how slow she naturally was, the brunette wouldn’t even be on her golem to begin with.

The small smile wasn’t missed by the large man, whom arched a brow. “How surprisingly cute,” he mused idly, more to himself than anything before he grinned and returned his focus to the task at hand. So she wasn’t all doom and gloom. Good.
Bengal’s brow arched as she explained that she would go on foot, part of him wanted to offer to carry her instead. But she didn’t like contact. Rubbing the back of his neck he frowned slightly.
“If you want me to carry you at any point, just let me know.” She was frail, and that much he could see. It reminded him of mother Chuya, so he was used to the intricacies and certainly didn’t think less of her for it. But, he also respected any pride she may have. Or trauma that resisted the idea of being carried by someone else.
With that he turned his attention forward, making note of the golem before focusing on their surroundings. Keeping a close eye on the surroundings, noting various cuts in trees that appeared similar to bear’s claws. But they were wrong. Too wide-spaced apart as if the fingers could open wide, unlike a bear’s paws.
Following the marks on the trees, as well as the occasional cusp of white hair on the trees, Bengal would roll his shoulders slowly before pausing at a small clearing. Here several trees had been ripped up, and a few bones, half-eaten deer and even one human littered the remains. Bengal frowned.
“A traveler likely… locals know to stay inside,” he murmured at a volume that was neigh undetectable, but the man didn’t wince at the loss of life. It was unfortunate, but such was the way of nature. They’d bring back what was left for the town, perhaps the family or a friend was there that could identify the body.
He nodded toward the clearing, a clear statement that for her plan, this was the best place. Feeding grounds not far from where they would bed in the distant cave. It was the best way to lower their guard initially and then make them examine the area. Bengal lifted his hands as the static crackled along his hands. Closing his eyes and focusing as he reached out with his ki.
The moment they entered his range, he’d be able to act. The golem would be an adequate distraction if nothing else combined with his sensory.

As quickly as she smiled, so too did she frown. But unlike her smile, this wasn’t quite as faint. What was possibly cute about her? At the very least, this did remove her worry of any possible mind reading. If he would use ‘cute’ to describe her, then he must not have been able to read her mind. He couldn’t pick up on her doubts, her fears. Her insecurities and worries of the day to day.. Of that constant reminder of Renfir’s presence in all aspects of her life, no matter how much she tried to get away from that.[break][break]
Of course, Verena had little reason to actually speak her mind on this issue. It wasn’t warranted. Still, Bengal seemed quite… pleased, or content with that smile. Enough to offer to carry her if it came to it. Had she appeared that vulnerable? She certainly hoped not…[break][break]
“...I appreciate it, but it goes without saying I must decline the offer.”[break][break]
Curses, hexes… they were akin to pathogens. As far as Verena was concerned, she was patient zero of Renfir’s curse. Even if she wasn’t contagious, it didn’t make her feel any more ‘clean’. To that end, she couldn’t be touched. She shouldn’t be. It was just better that way. Why would anyone want to touch a person who was directly cursed? It was better if people avoided her. It was better if she avoided others. Yet she couldn’t. She couldn’t bear the weight of the crushing loneliness. She longed for companionship. A reminder that she wasn’t alone.[break][break]
She knew she was asking for too much. But she was going to be selfish about it till the very end, regardless.[break][break]
Verena was impressed by Bengal’s ability to hunt-- it didn’t surprise her, but the fact he was able to pick up something like hair on these trees was a truly admirable quality. It was a skill set she hadn’t yet developed. She made a mental note to be aware of that in the future; it was a really good idea, after all. The claw marks were dead giveaways; she’d seen bears before, and she knew that this was too irregular. The damage caused to these trees was immense.[break][break]
When the sight of the corpses arrived, it took everything she had not to vomit at the sight of the body. She might have experienced horror in Kikka, but the woman was nowhere near enough jaded that such a horrific sight like a half-eaten body would have no effect on her physical well being. There was a part of her that just wanted to run away, to flee the scene. But ultimately, she knew better. She asked this of Bengal, and she’d see this through to the end as well. She placed a hand over her mouth, gasping audibly as she turned her eyes away from the scene. She just couldn’t help it.[break][break]
“...Are… are we close?” she inquired in a hushed tone, relying on the sensory ability--or rather, the ability to detect ki, of Bengal. “I think it’s about time I dispel Billy…”[break][break]
She was effectively forced to. It was clear that they were in yeti territory, and so it was best to avoid anything that could single them out. Verena had the golem bring her down to the ground, before removing it. “Once we’re a bit closer, I’ll summon them,” she said.

Bengal noted her near-puke, but she controlled herself. That showed some self control despite a sheltered upbringing. His eyes softened, giving her a moment to re-center herself properly. Once she asked about the distance he would nod once in the direction of the cave.
“Very. They’re at the edge of my sensory, roughly,” he mused looking toward the cave in the distance, before nodding at her comment. A bit closer would be fine. Creeping into the shadows of the forest, Bengal offered a silent rest to the bodies of animal and man alike before pushing through the forestry toward the cave. The moment he felt the sensation of a distant ki, he lifted a hand to pause them.
Falling to a knee and reaching down to the blade at his side, drawing it slowly and waiting. “Whenever you’re ready.” He clarified back toward her simply, before focusing on the cave entrance. He didn’t detect any others.
“Just the two within. Should be quick and simple. Once they’re distracted I’ll handle them and keep their focus on me… so stay down and quiet. Rely on the golems.” As he instructed this he glanced back to her, making sure she was ready before the near-silenced sound of the blade being drawn filled the air. The pitch-black blade of coal causing the scent to hit their noses. A black, whispy miasma flowing from the blade as his muscles contracted.
Preparing to lunge forward and deal with the beasts the moment their guard was shifted toward the sound.

Verena looked away as Bengal went to offer the deceased rest. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to help him--it was that the sight itself was quite difficult to look at. She just didn’t have the stomach for it yet. There was a part of her that hoped that she wouldn’t have to, either. But with what she knew of the Ryuutei, they were trained-no, that wasn’t quite right. This sort of thing was just normal, another aspect of their culture. It was admirable, she thought, but only looking at it from the perspective of an observer, rather than as herself. Truthfully, she couldn’t fathom how their culture went on. But that was none of her business, and so she held her tongue.[break][break]
Still, it was both a good thing and worrisome that they were so close. Verena needed to think. Glancing around, she noticed a cave entrance in the distance. That must have been the place. “Summoner Creation Magic: Song of the Muses,” she quietly declared--though not quite enough for Bengal to have not heard.[break][break]
Unlike Billy, this golem was actually on all fours. That meant that it was much smaller than Billy, and would allow it to remain relatively out of sight. Unlike Billy, however, this golem seemed largely unstable, as though it was a relatively new spell. Or rather, as though the caster was largely unfamiliar with this element to begin with. It didn't seem like it could really take much, if any, punishment before dispersing, and it seemed like it was phasing in and out of existence.[break][break]
On top of this quadrupedal body were three heads, akin to the busts one would see from statues or some other type of art. This already bizarre appearance was made even more bizarre as a result. It lacked a tail. There were two of these golems summoned.[break][break]
“It’d be best to use the blind spot of the cave and be beside it for the ambush. You’re more familiar with the yeti than I am, as well as much stronger than me. You’re also much faster than any golem I have, so if I do need help, I’m hoping I can rely on you. I’m going to stay here,” Verena said, before pointing to the second golem. “Follow the man,” she instructed.[break][break]
Assuming that Bengal went along with it, she waited until she could be sure that he was in position. The golem did lag behind, of course, but it never once lost track of him. Still, it was at the upper limit of its range, the two being eighteen meters apart. She hoped that this plan would work. And thus:[break][break]
“Second head: scream.” she commanded.[break][break]
She forgot to give Bengal this warning, but unfortunately, her golems were not known for their beautiful sound. It might have been a sound golem, but that didn’t mean golems were capable of singing or speaking. Their ability to ‘speak’ was severely limited. In her case, she hadn’t mastered the element; it was only her most recent element, and furthermore, she hadn’t been so much taught how to use it as much as she just learned how it worked. To that end, this golem was still very much incomplete.[break][break]
Now, it was just a matter of knowing if the yeti would take the bait or not…

Description: Unlike Verena's previous golems, Song of the Muses is not quite humanoid in appearance. It possesses three heads on a body that is on all fours, akin to a dog in that sense. The body seems to be constantly in a state of flux, a result of a seemingly unstable summon. In truth, this is just because Verena does not quite yet have a true mastery of the element, making it ill suited for combat at this point in time. Each head resembles the bust of a human statue superimposed on a four legged animal. The body itself lacks a tail, and if it was to stand on its rear legs, it would reach the maximum height for a balanced golem at this current level.[break][break]
Because this golem is still in a state of 'instability', it is ill-suited for combat, something Verena is already aware of. To counter this flaw, each head of Song of the Muses is capable of producing a single pitch, unique to each head. The head on the left can emit a sound that is solely capable of being measured at 493.88 hz, the one in the middle is capable of emitting a sound solely measured at 698.46 hz, and the head on the right is capable of emitting a sound that measures at 830.61 hz. These sounds effectively do nothing but are rather obnoxious if you happen to hear them. They're loud enough to be heard equal to the maximum range at this rank (twenty meters), however.[break][break]
Song of the Muses is ill suited for combat, but if absolutely necessary, it can use the three heads to headbutt. However, that's the only real offensive aspect it has. Verena is capable of spawning more of them for every ten control she has, maxing out at five total. The true utility of this golem lies in coordination with others, diversionary tactics, and alerting others. It's closer to a Scout golem in that sense, but without any of the benefits that come with such.

The golems were… intriguing to look at. If a bit unnatural. Twisted and malformed, flickering as if barely capable of maintaining their shape. The three heads were interesting in design, but Bengal didn’t pay too much attention to them all. Instead he nodded his head once simply at her request. The strategy was simple enough, and he felt no need to add anything extra. The Yeti weren’t a big enough threat for this, but that didn’t mean it was’t excellent practice for Verena. So, with that thought in mind he simply pushed through.
He had to limit his speed, following the maximum speed of the golem to keep it behind him while also making sure to not outpace it. After a few moments he halted his movements, resting a hand on the hilt of his blade pondering for a moment. He could simply remove their heads using the blade, but that would end this… very quickly. Verena would learn little. Scratching his chin, he blinked and winced. Lifting a hand up to one ear as his sensitive physical senses were assaulted by the unnatural, baying scream.
Making a face of distaste at the creature, he instead shifted his gaze toward the direction of the ki signatures that had instantly begun to move. The two beasts barreling out of the cave, snow flying as the beasts snorted and growled. Over nine feet tall even while hunched over. An appearance somewhere between a great ape, and a bear. Snarling, blood and saliva dripping from their jaws as bright red eyes glanced over the snows and forestry.
Focusing on the direction that the noise had come from, turning and charging toward the direction as ice began to swirl around them both. Flowing into long blades along their arms, coating themselves in armor as the snow itself began to move under them to amplify their speeds. Bengal waited until they turned, before suddenly blurring. Launching himself across the snow without the use of any magic as he went barreling through, long legs propelling him forward as the beasts turned the moment they heard the snow.
A moment too late. Bengal was upon the first one, his hand smashing into its throat and lifting the massive beast clear off the ground. Using his momentum as his hand clenched, crushing its windpipe before it could even scream, and smashing it head first into the ice and snow. The crack of its armor, and skull shattering filling the air. Neck snapped and windpipe crushed in a single move.
It’s twin was snarling, arms rearing back as it seemed to move as if in slow motion to the now-crouching Bengal whom ripped his blood-soaked hand from the beast's throat. Suddenly full-body tackling the massive beast, smashing it into the snow as his arms scooped its short legs out from under it, cracking it into the snow. Stunning it, but still alive until Bengal’s knee smashed into its diaphragm. Instantly a sound similar to a balloon popping filled the air, an organ rupturing as blood burst from its lips.
In the short time that bought him, Bengal’s burly arm was wrapped around its neck--and the sound of bone snapping effortlessly filled the air. Muscles and veins standing on end as the man maintained his grip. Ensuring that even with a broken neck it wouldn’t get back up, before dropping it. Releasing a single breath in a huff as he straightened, flicking the blood from his hand as he lifted the other in Verena’s direction.
“Only two.” He called out simply, clarifying their safety.

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll"] That unnatural sound was, of course, affecting Verena as well. Fortunately, she wasn't right next to it like Bengal was, but that would offer little solace in this moment. She at least also had the benefit of being able to fully expect it, and thus covered her own ears, though of course, the help it provided was minimal in the grand scheme of things. Hopefully, Bengal wouldn't hold this against her…[break][break]
Verena watched from afar as best as she could as Bengal engaged the yeti. It was an impressive display of force. Given his superior speed, strength, and just general combat prowess, the yeti never had a chance. This was even taking into consideration that they had used magic of some sort to create ice-like weapons in an attempt to kill Bengal, but the White Tiger was simply too fast... too powerful. By the time they had created their weapons, in a show of dominance they were already decimated.[break][break]
Perhaps a bit brutal, but Verena knew that was what it meant to live and to die. A cold reality, fitting of the climate that they all found themselves in right now. That was just the way things were.[break][break]
"So we're-"[break][break]
Bengal would have picked up on it before Verena would have. In fact, Verena wouldn't have picked up on it at all. However, this happened at the same time the White Tiger was engaging the yeti. As fast as he was, and as quickly as he dealt with those yeti, there was still a limitation to what he was capable of. Before she knew what was going on, she suddenly found a hand gripped around her own fragile arms, before tossing her.[break][break]
She was just in the air. If she were more experienced, she'd have reacted accordingly, but the shock of being snuck up on in this manner was unfamiliar territory. She had also had to plug her own ears to deal with the sound of her own golem, and thus, she wasn't able to hear the quickly approaching yeti at the moment.[break][break]
The woman was tossed through a single tree before she found herself rolling on the ground like a rag doll. Her mana skin protected her from any serious injuries like broken ribs, but it still hurt. Gasping for air for a moment--mostly a result of the shock, Verena didn't even have another chance before the yeti was right back on her.[break][break]
In a desperate showing--now especially more than versus the deer, she used that same wall. Carbon Creation Magic: Survival Instinct--its name more fitting now than ever. This stopped the yeti momentarily, which in turn gave Verena a much needed chance to ready another spell. "Summoner Creation Magic: Despair Billy!" she called out.[break][break]
The golem appeared quickly, though by the time it appeared, the yeti was already past the wall now. Thankfully, Billy was much larger than the yeti was, being over twice the height of the yeti itself. Billy simply was a much larger opponent. Grabbing the yeti, it did the same thing that was done to Verena, simply grabbing an arm and tossing it. Of course, it didn't go too far; the most that Billy could carry was just a mere four hundred pounds, after all as a result of being an intermediate level spell. However, this toss didn't quite kill it--it was right in front of Bengal, however.

Juggernaut: Twice a thread, a player can cause an equally ranked offensive based spell that would normally destroy or injure their defensive spell to be completely negated.
Description: Upon usage, Verena creates a wall that is 2x2x5 (length x width x height) made of pure carbon and as such is akin to a jet black in color. The wall appears as though it's constantly moving around, and this is in part due to [Juggernaut], as it is capable of, with limited usages, of strengthening itself in what would otherwise tear right through, or damage it to render that damage obsolete.[break][break]
In addition, the wall is capable of shooting out a solid "rope" of carbon though reinforced via [Imprisonmont of a God], plus one additional chain for every 30 [CON] she has. These chains function in accordance to clashing rules, and cause strain on a person's ability to regenerate their mana, depleting it by 10 (though if their mana regenerative ability is lower, then it will reduce it by the maximum value without making it 0).[break][break]
If the chains do not manage to catch a person, they are still capable of restraining a person's grimoire via Restraining Magic, and have a 50% reduction on the casting ability of a mage. The construct can withstand up to twice its rank in damage before being completely destroyed.
This Perk allows your Golems to start with a bonus of +3 to its Durability, Power, and Sensory Stats. At Grand Rank this bonus increases to +5. If this Perk is applied to a Balanced Golem these bonuses increase to +5 and +10 instead.

Description: Visually, a disturbing golem. One that someone wouldn't have thought possible from someone like Verena. However, Kikka did have an impact on her aesthetic. To counter her own fear of the macabre, she decided that she would instead embrace it, to confront it, and ultimately tame it. And thus, Despair Billy was born. A golem manifested from her own fear.[break][break]
Despair Billy appears as a giant patchwork doll--closer in design to a voodoo doll than anything else. It's body is crafted from various types of cloth of different colors. The bulk of its body is the same color as a burlap sack, whereas its right arm is colored a sickly looking yellow.
"Billy" has enough power to knockback people when swinging with its arms to send them back four meters, plus an additional [5m] for every [10] in [POW] it possesses. Unlike Verena's other golems, Billy is suited primarily for attacking, though it still keeps up with Verena's primary objective of not killing, as the strikes from it are all blunt. It can cause great harm compared to her other golems, but it is still very unlikely to kill a person(s).
Post by Satori Ryuutei on Dec 21, 2020 20:03:01 GMT -5
Bengal stiffened as he felt the ki approaching Verena suddenly. That made little sense. It must have been just out of a hundred-meter range and come barreling out at that last minute, top speed toward the woman. The beast's claws would have been far more effective, but it seemed to have lost some of its instinct, perhaps at the loss of its partners. It grabbed her, flinging the woman like a ragdoll across the snow. Thankfully his magic would protect her well enough, mending the damage to her mana skin as well as the bruising forming beneath it.
Mana flickered around Bengal, about to extend the magic from Verena to cover himself as well. If he needed to be there, he could be in a flash with the use of his magic. But she was handling it herself to the Ryuutei's surprise. She suddenly yanked a hand, forming a large defensive wall against the incoming attack. In the same movement, the Golem grasped the beast, and hurled it toward Bengal whom launched himself forward in response to the intent he felt coming from the woman.
The yeti righted itself, snarling as its clawed flexed out--only for a sickening crack to fill the air as Bengal's foot smashed into the center of its spine. Sending it tumbling head over heels across the snow, back snapped clean in half as the body folded over on itself in an awkward, backward angle. He moved forward quickly, falling to a knee by her though resisting the urge to offer her a hand. He didn't need to ask, he could tell she was alright.
His magic was healing what damage she had taken quickly. A slow breath passed between his lips. "You should invest in learning ki or sensory magic, Verena," he stated simply offering her a slight smile before hauling himself up to his feet. "But those were good reactions. Last-minute defenses are tricky, and you managed it just in time. Well done." It was rare that he found someone with such reflexes. Nodding his head once in approval, the man grinned slightly.
"Better than alot of the so-called knights, and other nobles." He didn't know she was a noble. It was a simple educated guess based on her demeanor, reactions, attitude, and manners. He'd spent so much time amoung nobles that at this point he was fairly certain when he met one. Or at least someone raised within a noble household. If she wasn't a noble, she was used to that environment at the least.

Verena was still caught off guard. She couldn't even use Billy to properly fight. She was just more focused on having the yeti being moved away from her. She could not fight close range--even with Bengal's spell, she wasn't even sure how to. Melee fighting wasn't something she ever thought she'd have to try.[break][break]
She could feel the effects of the spell healing her. The sensation was strange, one she wasn't really used to. But it was certainly more comforting compared to being tossed like a rag doll. The man had used a healing spell on her, her injuries beginning to mend. If not for her mana skin, she likely would have been in a lot worse shape.[break][break]
Bengal offered her a compliment, praising her for her last minute reactions. To Verena, it was sweet. But her mind drifted to Kikka. Something like this could have easily gotten her killed. "...If the yeti wasn't moving as quickly as it was, I'd probably have been in a lot worse shape," she admitted. "It's more likely I was just tossed accidentally, in an attempt to slow down its momentum. It most likely meant to latch onto my skull or something else. I'm lucky that I was even conscious to think of using my spell..."[break][break]
Bengal mentioned that it wouldn't be a bad idea to learn sensory style magic or even ki. The issue was that as observant as she was, her aptitude for sensory itself wasn't as high as it could be. She relied heavily on her golems to make up for that jarring weakness. "...Ki training wouldn't be the worst idea. Though I know nothing about it; I've only really heard about it."[break][break]
Ah. Nobility. She turned her head to the snow, looking away from Bengal on that topic, slowly making her way back to her feet. "...Perhaps. Though the topic of other nobility is a bit of a... what's the phrase..." she said, letting out a sigh as she tried remembering the words she was looking for.
"...In any case, I'd prefer not to talk about nobility if it can be helped. Anyways, what else is there?"
By this point, she dismissed all of her golems and her defensive spell.
