Verena was poised at the inn, waiting on Zaven. This was her first chance in years at actually learning something about her family member. It wasn't that she never asked; she was never given an answer. Eventually, she gave up on hearing the truth about it from her own family, as it was clearly going to get nowhere. If memory served, Zaven wasn't just the head of the Blakes; he was also apart of the Caldur branch. Though the 'trade' would have taken place before he had any power, he would have been familiar with it. Perhaps, he had even met this "Julien", even if it was possible that one of his other aunts and uncles 'claimed' this Reinsberg.[break][break]
Zaven was at the bar, and Verena had followed suit. It wasn't as if she had any intention of purchasing any alcoholic beverage, but even if she did, it wasn't as though it would be questioned.[break][break]
"...Apologies for interrupting you, Zaven...? Mr. Blake? I've yet to really know what you'd prefer to be addressed as, so I apologize," Verena began as she tried looking him in the eye. "Julien--that was the name you said, right? How is he doing? Do you have any idea?"[break][break]
It was clear that this was a very big deal to Verena, there was very real concern in her eyes, though her expression was otherwise stoic. It was obvious that this was a result of Kikka. When the two were still there, the woman was very much the sort to wear her heart on her sleeve; at least, that was how she had reacted when confronted with terror. It was just as possible when not presented with extreme situations that she was normally like this; the Shadow of the Dawn might not have known for sure what she was like before Kikka.[break][break]
"If my own told me about him, I wouldn't be asking you, so I apologize for any bother that I might be right now."[break][break]
It seemed as though she was feeling a little guilty for approaching the Golden Dawn captain in such a forward manner. Surely, he had come here just to relax and unwind, but her own selfish desires and curiosity were being imposed upon him. Still, she was very concerned about the well-being of her family member and felt responsible. She might not have been officially the head of her own family, but she was for all intents and purposes the legitimate heiress. By all rights, she was to claim the position as the family head with no other apparent heir to do so.[break][break]
Thus, she felt a great deal of responsibility on the matter. If... no. When she became the head of the Reinsberg, that also meant she would inherit all of the sins of her family. With that in mind, that also meant she would bear responsibility for any state that Julien was in, even if he was no longer 'theirs', it was still her father's choice that resulted in this action taking place.

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena joins zaven at the inn's bar, while he orders ale and she asks about julien. [break][break]
Post by Zaven Blake✧ on Dec 12, 2020 17:37:16 GMT -5
After the day’s work had concluded he had returned to the inn with full intention of seeing the girl that had approached him now and also assisted him at Kikka. Verena was already alert and ready for the Shadow of Dawn as he walked in and sat at the bar, receiving the yul from the innkeep he pocketed the money as Verena sat beside him without a moment to spare she began to ask her questions. She addressed him by his first name then his last and he gave a soft smirk, as he did not wish to really correct someone looking for info...especially on a subject concerning his family, but he needed to make sure she knew how to address him. Then she asked about her family member, a rapid fire of questions that Zaven thought about for a moment. As he was thinking though she apologized to him once more before Zaven ordered a flagon of mead, the innkeep made his order quickly before Zaven pointed to Verena. ”A water for her, if you don’t mind, and a hot chocolate as well.” Zaven said before finally taking a long drag from the flagon and sighing with satisfaction.
”Julien Blake...originally the “gift” of goodwill to my family when I was about ten. I remember him, he was a quiet kid and well...the Caldur branch is not specifically known to be a caring bunch. Rolin, my father saw to it I was made into a tool...but enough of that. As far as I know once I took over family affairs, Julien is a member of the Silver Eagles now last I checked, and happy is not a word I would use when it comes to members of my family. We are not exactly the most accepting group of people...especially to anyone that is not a noble family or the like.” He sighs as he takes another drink. ”So I assume you are trying to negotiate something for your brother?”

Both were fine by her. If she absolutely had to have something, she'd rather it be something like water. Due to how often she wore this coat, she was naturally a bit warmer than others, even wearing it in the summer when others were around. She cared little for alcohol, find the taste unappealing. Wine was something she had had very little of, and that too wasn't a taste she was quite fond of, either. "Acquired taste," she often heard. Why would one want to 'get used' to the taste of something to enjoy it? That seemed contradictory.[break][break]
Verena listened intently as Zaven explained. She did ponder how or why the Captain of the Golden Dawn went on that little tangent about himself. Was it to emphasize how the Caldur branch operated? If so, it did little to appease her fears. As he spoke, it only made her worries grow. The only two things to take some solace in were not only was he still alive, but he was skilled enough to become a Magic Knight as well. She was proud to call him her br-[break][break]
"...did..."[break][break]
Verena's words tripped over another. Her eyes widened. Anger. Disgust. Fury. Shock. Confusion. Disbelief. All these emotions and more raced across her mind as she couldn't decide what she felt more of, and all of it was directed towards Renfir, the man who wore flesh for the sake of acting out the role that was 'father'. Towards the woman who dressed in flesh known as Elise to act out the role of 'mother'. Was this how broken they were? How broken her family was? They would give up their own to the Caldur, and for what purpose?[break][break]
What had the Caldur actually done for them? They had swept up the issue five years ago so it wouldn't spread further after practically being begged, she was sure.[break][break]
"Did you say... 'brother'?"[break][break]
How dare they. How dare they keep something as important as 'brother' from her. How dare they hide the truth of a sibling she never met from her. How dare they sign him off for being unwanted. It wasn't as if this was some cousin whom she hadn't met. There were plenty of those. The Reinsberg tried to reproduce like rabbits during all for the sake of trying to produce at least one child who could have any sort of potential.[break][break]
Before Verena could even answer Zaven's question, a man burst suddenly could be heard shouting, running into the inn as though his life depended on it. "We gots trouble!" he screamed. "Snowmen! They're attackin' and destroyin' errythin'! Someone's gotta' do something! There's so feckin many; we won't last at this rate...!"[break][break]
"...The answer is yes. Let me think about what I can offer in exchange after I have a chance to collect myself... and rid of these snowmen. Once more, I must apologize. My family never saw fit to inform me of Julien--of my brother. I'm a bit ... frustrated right now. I don't suppose you'd be willing to lend a hand though," Verena said as she looked out the window. "...There is a bit more than I can handle on my own."
[break]
COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR literally the first time verena has genuinely been vocal about being angry and not even trying to hide it. she's pissed off at her family for hiding julien from her. she always assumed that the reinsberg with the blakes was some cousin that she never met, but the fact they hid the fact she had an older brother from her gravely upsets her. random shmuck walks in and tells everyone about attacking snowman. verena asks for help as there are too many for her to handle on her own. [break][break]
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] He saw those emotions flash on her face, it was not even in the slightest way odd for him to see this though and that fact was further driven home as he simply drank more. The hesitation to finding out she had a brother also was a little bit of a different feel as he let her work through her own issues for the moment as he felt a pang of mana around the area as he raised an eyebrow just before the man ran inside of the inn. Zaven finished his drink as he nodded at the scared man, Verena however was quick on the uptake and said that she still had more to go over including an offer for her brother, of which Zaven just kind of shook his head. This kid did not realize that the man was already free of whatever ties to the Blake family if he wanted it, but he did not say anything. When he was asked to help out, Zaven honestly knew that it was his job regardless of if he wanted to just sit idly by or not. He grabbed his axe that he had leaning against the table and smiled before standing up. ”Citizens do not worry, the Golden Dawn will take care of this issue without further delay.” The proclamation was to let the citizens feel a sense of safety as he held the axe in his hand before walking towards the door. [break][break]
Walking out into the snow again he felt the mana from the snowmen nearby and as such he spun the axe in his right hand and then started his charge towards the nearest snowman just as it was setting its sights on a group of small children. Zaven however was faster than it was and brought his axe up and then hit it with full force on his first swing, making sure to hit it with the flat part of his axe as his burning rage fueled the attack. This was overkill as the snowman was obliterated in the single swing, making it look like child’s play before spinning the axe again in his right hand. He looked at the group of kids before finally opening his mouth, ”It would be in your best interests to return home right now, it is not safe for you all out on the streets.” He would say before looking back to Verena and waiting for her.

Verena took a deep breath as she surveyed the number of snowmen out attacking the town, already outside. There were dozens of snowmen littering this town. But right now, she had more respect for them than her own family. In fact, it would be easier on the girl if she just pretended they were her own family. Enacting that anger out on them would be no good anyway, and she had no idea just how she would feel when she saw them. Her aunts and uncles. Even her mother.[break][break]
Was this wrong? Should she have been more considerate? Verena's lip curled in disgust. Of course not. There was nothing about their actions that were indicative of looking out for the families best interest. There was no one chosen person. At the end of the day, they expected one person at large to shoulder the entire weight of the family, one singular chosen person to bring it into greatness. And singular entity to point the finger at when things went wrong. Her family was nothing short of spoiled and entitled cowards. She knew that...[break][break]
...yet why did she want to go back at all?[break][break]
Verena let out a soft sigh. There was no need overthinking it. There was no need to overanalyze it. All she had to do was defeat these snowmen. Defeat these Reinsbergs. She quickly removed her grimoire as she readied to summon her golems.[break][break]
"Summoner Creation Magic: Despair Billy. Summoner Creation Magic: Gaia's Blessing. Summoner Creation Magic: Phaunus' Gift," Verena ordered as she summoned three different golems. In total, she summoned two Billy, four Gaia, and Four Phaunus.[break][break]
Manifesting in the block, a spiral of wood, earth, and cloth all manifested, starting from the ground up as they rose to their full height. Verena knew she needed to carefully control all of these golems lest she cause as much harm as these snowmen were doing. The golems reached various heights and size overall, with the tallest being Billy at six meters, followed by Gaia at four, and Phaunus at three. Billy was a frightful looking construct, and ordinarily, she wouldn't have summoned it with civilians nearby. However, she needed to ensure the swift removal of these golems and as such, it was for the best that they were all dealt with.
"Billy, attack the snowmen. Gaia, prioritize the safety of weaker civilians than myself and buildings. Attack the snowmen if necessary to do that. Phaunus, box in the snowmen and prevent more from entering the city. Limit mobility to prevent damaging civilians and buildings," Verena ordered, not wasting time as she gave her golems roles to fulfill. Gaia's role was only a temporary one, as she wanted to ensure civilians made it inside their homes safely. However, that didn't stop the snowmen meanwhile as they were causing all kinds of havoc...[break][break]
Unfortunately, despite the experience, Kikka offered Verena, as well as the training going into it, she still very much inexperienced. Though she was watching this mock battle before her eyes, that also meant she wasn't watching her own blind spots. While Billy was engaging three snowmen, managing to deal with them in thanks due to his superior reach and size, a fourth had managed to sneak up on her. She was neither a building nor could she be 'weaker' than herself, and she hadn't ordered any to protect her. This made her wide open for a sneak attack from a shovel.[break][break]
The snowman managed a nasty blow on her, knocking her to the ground. If not for her mana skin, she likely would have been knocked out then and there. Still, the shock and surprise from the hit was enough to stun her, causing her a great deal of surprise. Her golems were given autonomous commands, however, which meant that they were still acting accordingly. However... she had to deal with this snowman quickly.[break][break]
First, she needed to create a bit of distance between them. As she was ill-suited for close-range combat, getting away was a priority. That was what Jorah would have said, most likely. But as she lacked the means to properly run away right now, then the only possible thing she could do was to erect a defensive spell to forcefully separate them.[break][break]
"Carbon Magic: Survival Instinct!" she called out, as a large wall appeared, jutting out in front of the snowman and blocking its path. This gave her time to look for the closest golem to the scene. That would have been Gaia, her favorite type of golem she had access to at the moment. She ordered it to fight the snowman while she used this time to recover, trying to put some distance. Ah, even with mana skin protecting herself, that still hurt a lot. She should have been more vigilant... what was wrong with her, making such a mistake like that? Against a superior opponent, she would have been dead.[break][break]
It just went to show that she wasn't thinking like herself. She just ... had so much more to ask about.

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena goes on the attack! after moving a bit away from the inn, she summons a ten golems; two int, 8 junior, with different roles given to each. gets snuck up on by a snowman and hit hard on the shoulder. mana skin prevented any serious injury but surprised her. she uses her fourth spell to create a wall to block her off from the snow man before it can cause anymore damage to her, and is using this time to collect herself. she also ordered one gaia to come and deal with this snowman. Description: Utilizing earthern mana, Verena constructs a bipedal golem made up of various types of rocks and stone. Various rocks protrude from it's forearms, knees, and from the back of it's head down it's back, akin to spikes... but if spikes were blunt, like incredibly small hills, no larger than a full grown man's leg, though each of these tend to differ in size. These rocks are placed over thicker and more durable rocks that function akin to an armor plating, but don't offer any defense beyond the normal body itself.[break][break]
A golem created via Gaia's Blessing's head is stretched out just a bit, giving it's forehead the impression of a hammer due to the bluntness in which it appears. Though it possess' decent strength as a result of it's size and build, the more devastating thing it can do is headbutts. Of course, it is still a Junior ranked golem, so it is incapable of dealing any truly devastating damage. These golems will usually stay near Verena, and rarely leave her side. She often uses them to ride upon.[break][break]
Verena is able to create one (1) golem per ten (10) control she has at once, maxing out at five. Due to Summoner, she gets an Earth affinity bonus (+1 Durability), in addition to her Puppet Master and Reinforced Golems perk.[break]

Description: Summoner Creation: Phaunus' Gift is made utilizing mana with Wood Affinity. The golem itself is incredibly simple in design. It's a humanoid golem made from wooden branches that have been smoothed out, and then banded together with more limber wood to hold it in place, like a wicker basket. The golem is incredibly basic and barebones in it's functionality, only punching and kicking to assail it's enemies. Still, due to it's simplicity, it is incredibly easy to control, and effective for most other tasks she may need them for.[break][break]
Verena is able to create one (1) golem per ten (10) control she has at once, maxing at five.
Juggernaut: Twice a thread, a player can cause an equally ranked offensive based spell that would normally destroy or injure their defensive spell to be completely negated.
Description: Upon usage, Verena creates a wall that is 2x2x5 (length x width x height) made of pure carbon and as such is akin to a jet black in color. The wall appears as though it's constantly moving around, and this is in part due to [Juggernaut], as it is capable of, with limited usages, of strengthening itself in what would otherwise tear right through, or damage it to render that damage obsolete.[break][break]
In addition, the wall is capable of shooting out a solid "rope" of carbon though reinforced via [Imprisonmont of a God], plus one additional chain for every 30 [CON] she has. These chains function in accordance to clashing rules, and cause strain on a person's ability to regenerate their mana, depleting it by 10 (though if their mana regenerative ability is lower, then it will reduce it by the maximum value without making it 0).[break][break]
If the chains do not manage to catch a person, they are still capable of restraining a person's grimoire via Restraining Magic, and have a 50% reduction on the casting ability of a mage. The construct can withstand up to twice its rank in damage before being completely destroyed.

Description: Visually, a disturbing golem. One that someone wouldn't have thought possible from someone like Verena. However, Kikka did have an impact on her aesthetic. To counter her own fear of the macabre, she decided that she would instead embrace it, to confront it, and ultimately tame it. And thus, Despair Billy was born. A golem manifested from her own fear.[break][break]
Despair Billy appears as a giant patchwork doll--closer in design to a voodoo doll than anything else. It's body is crafted from various types of cloth of different colors. The bulk of its body is the same color as a burlap sack, whereas its right arm is colored a sickly looking yellow. This same yellow appears on the top right of its head, whereas the left half of its head is a lifeless blue blue. It possesses no neck, and from its right shoulder to the start of its left forearm, as well as its left part of its chest and rib cage is red. A heart can be seen stitched on on the opposite side of its body, albeit crudely attached on to it. It is easily taller by a considerable degree than a human being, standing at six meters in height.[break][break]
Though the golem is capable of transporting up to two people, the speed at which it is capable of doing so is no more than [10 m/s]. "Billy" has enough power to knockback people when swinging with its arms to send them back four meters, plus an additional [5m] for every [10] in [POW] it possesses. Unlike Verena's other golems, Billy is suited primarily for attacking, though it still keeps up with Verena's primary objective of not killing, as the strikes from it are all blunt. It can cause great harm compared to her other golems, but it is still very unlikely to kill a person(s).[break]
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] After dispatching the first snowman with his axe and saving the citizen he was left with the new fresh hell that was Aries Garse being attacked by fucking snowmen. A fire mage should make quick fucking work of this, hell this was so under his paygrade...he might have to pay them just because of collateral damage. Verena seemed to be having a go at it as well, through using her golems and even taking a hit from a snowman herself. He was going to step in before he finally found that he had been surrounded by five of these snowmen. His grip tightened on his axe and he smiled before addressing the snowmen. ”So...this makes things easier for me in all honesty. I hope your other friends are on standby for when I remove you from this plane of existence.” He said before releasing the mana inside of Catastrophe. ”Stand inside my circle of tyranny and feel my wrath as I do what must be done.” He said as he used two abilities of his axe, the boiling element attached to it began to make the water evaporate and vaporize as the snowmen wailed in agony before rushing him to try and take him out. Zaven was too quick though as he used another ability that he had activated with the axe, swinging it with ferocity and vigor as he summoned a wave of boiling vapor with each swing of his axe, and he had quite a few swings he could deliver to finish off his foes. [break][break]
The onslaught of attacks was absolutely intense as he began to breath hot air, the fog rolling from his mouth was like a man possessed...a daemon in the captain’s body...or was the captain that much of a daemon himself. With a final swing he was able to dispatch each snowman with relative ease, the boiling vapor caused him to stand in a melted puddle of snow and his own sweat now as he just pulled his hair back for a moment, slicking it back before taking a look back to Verena. He had come to help her, but he had to fight his own battles as she did as well. They could not deviate from this, it was how it had to be...but he would offer aid if he could.

The singular Gaia golem she had managed to call to her aid landed a solid punch against the snowman; however, the snowman in question didn't fall immediately; it was momentarily stunned, but went to strike her own golem. Gaia brought its arm to its defense per Verena's order as the snowman went to strike it, the shovel hitting one of the blunt spikes mounted on its arm.[break][break]
Both her golem and the Snowman seemed to be quite injured from this exchange. The snowman was stronger than it looked. She had lowered her defensive wall not just because of the fact that the chains could achieve nothing against it, but also because she still had Gaia defending her. Keeping mana active when it wasn't necessarily was just that. Unnecessary. Still, the snowman was much faster, and so it hammered in a second strike quickly on her momentarily stunned golem. This wouldn't normally be good, but one of her two Billy golems that had been summoned managed to shorten the gap in this time and smashed the snowman all over the building, shovel and all. That was one down, at least.[break][break]
While Verena couldn't really see what was going on on Zaven's end, she knew that he was fairing much better than she herself was. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to just use the sheer numbers she had formulated, round up the snowman to encircle them, and then just wail on them with her golems. It wasn't pretty, but it was pretty obvious that these snowmen were not intelligent anyway. They were just like golems. The thought of golems being used in this manner disgusted her, but there was little she could do about that. Little, aside from destroying them of course. It would at least take her mind off things, but more importantly, she had to focus on the fight at large. That was her priority. Protect the town. Protect the people. Then she could worry about the brother she never knew.[break][break]
"Phaunus, regroup to the town center and block the snowman from escaping once they're there. Gaia, pressure the snowman into the town center. Attack if attacked, but prioritize moving them into the center. Billy, the same order as Gaia." she ordered.[break][break]
Her three remaining Gaia golems could take a hit while dishing a bit out towards the snowmen themselves. Phaunus wouldn't be so lucky, however. Despite that, they'd make for an excellent barricade, and in a worst-case scenario, she could use this method to apply extra damage.[break][break]
The Gaia golems were doing their part per the order, successfully backing the snowmen into the town center, where there were fewer people and more room for this fight to occur with her golems. That was good. Taking advantage of her golems size against the size of that of the animated snowmen was a huge help in dealing with them. There were still six in total, but she'd be culling those numbers very quickly now that she had them where she wanted them.[break][break]
One of her two Despair Billy's landed a crushing blow that simply squashed the snowman right into the ground with a haymaker. Another simply grabbed a snowman, tossing it into another like a rag doll, both splattering all over the walkway in doing so. Meanwhile, one of her Gaia golems was being cornered by two snowmen. That wasn't good. They were much faster and hit harder than her Gaia could. She sent a Phaunus to intervene, resulting in one of the snowmen taking a hit and thus stunned. Similarly, however, the second Snowman still landed a solid strike on that Gaia golem of hers, weakening it enough. It was about to land another hit in, when a second of the four Phaunus golems grabbed the shovel out of its hand, causing the snowman to awkwardly move about. Verena further capitalized on this, taking advantage of this loss of weapon as she ordered her Gaia golem to strike at both snowmen by collapsing its arms together, striking them simultaneously with a powerful clap that crushed their 'heads'.[break][break]
With this, Verena had managed to bring the number of snowman from seven to three, and she still had four golems left. Not to mention, since she had relieved herself of her defensive spell, she could easily finish them off here, but she wanted to focus on dealing with what she could for the time being. And that was precisely why she used her remaining golems to handle the riffraff. She knew that she wouldn't be able to kill all these snowmen in one single blow each with her remaining golems, but she could immobilize them. Taking advantage of their superior size and weight would be a cinch.[break][break]
The remaining golems were effectively ordered to subdue the snowmen. The snowmen were faster than her golems, but not smarter than she was. Taking advantage of her guardian golems, she had the three take a position as though they were going to get hit. After which, they were to immediately hammer their targets, the exception being the one already injured Gaia. It was simply bait. As ordered, they all took a hit but used the close range to their advantage as they brought their heads down upon their foe, their immense impact and weight being far too much for the snowmen to deal with despite the fragile state. The third Gaia, however, did fall apart, but not before landing a hit itself and dispersing into mana. A nearby Phaunus capitalized on this, using a simple downward punch to finish off the snowman as it fell into snow.[break][break]
When Verena was positively sure that they had been dealt with, she let out a sigh. "...There. It's finished..." she said as she looked over to Zaven. It seemed like he was just about done, if not finished. She still wanted to talk to him more. There was a lot to discuss...!

COMBAT SUMMARY

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena just massacres the snowmen. there's technically two left but they'll be dealt with on her next post from pressure and all that. she also got rid of her defensive spell. [break][break]
This Perk allows your Golems to start with a bonus of +3 to its Durability, Power, and Sensory Stats. At Grand Rank this bonus increases to +5. If this Perk is applied to a Balanced Golem these bonuses increase to +5 and +10 instead.

[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Zaven had finished up with his snowmen and he brushed the dust of the snow off of his jacket, his axe still warm as he slung it to his right hand and then against his shoulder. Watching as Verena dispatched the last bit of snowmen that she had engaged he gave her a thumbs up as he walked up. Achilles had already been through Aries Garse and had taken care of all the lightwork that was not cleaned up by them as Zaven found a clean bench to sit at while some fires were put out and buildings were already appearing to fix the damage. [break][break]
Taking a seat he would lean his axe against it as he would signal to Verena to join him at the bench. If she did so Zaven would pass her a small token, it was like a medallion carved out of a piece of brass, darkened and a little tarnished he would smile at her while offering this small gift. ”Since your brother is a knight, I have no way of really releasing him from my family because well...the knights are a family of sorts already. However, this token will allow you into the Blake Estate where we keep some pieces of knowledge that you might find...enlightening in your quest. For knowledge…” Of course the head of the Blake household just was not going to give up his secrets out in the open, but he also was not 100% confirmed on the truth either...the Blake family has a lot of weird networks that have been used over the years for various things; murder, espionage, trafficking, money laundering, as well as legitimate ventures...but then again the Blakes were known for all the good and none of the bad thanks to the previous head of the family. [break][break]
After giving away that token he stood up and hefted the axe back over his shoulder and looked at Verena. He would of course give her some answers if asked, but he would be ready to go have a drink at this point since the day has proven to be nothing but hard labor. After answering questions he would turn back and offer a handshake to her. ”If you need anything else then, I will be back at the inn and getting some rest, you are more than welcome to charge your meals and drinks to my tab if you want while you are here. Oh and look out for a larger gruff looking male with a Golden Dawn mantle...That is Drake Dragonale and he is kind of rough around the edges.” It was just a general warning, nothing more than that as he gave a grin and would finally set off for the bar.

The snowman weren't capable of dealing with this type of pressure for too long, eventually being crushed under the applied weight of the golems. What went to two 'suvivors' fell to zero. They had all been purged. Because of this, Verena was safely able to reduce all of her golems. It was crowded with them in the streets, but there was enough to room for the fight, especially with people being in their homes. It made it a lot easier, especially compared to the reclamation effort of Kikka.[break][break]
With the snowman defeated, Verena followed Zaven back. She noticed the thumbs up given to her. While she didn't think she did anything too impressive; if anything, she was knocking herself for even getting hit to begin with, he at least was giving her a pass. Either out of kindness or genuinely believing it. In any case, she wasn't going to worry too much about it. In any case, the snowmen were defeated. There was no further need to keep her golems out, and so she dismissed all of them.[break][break]
Verena took a seat on the bench at Zaven's behest--though, she made sure to keep distance. This wasn't because she didn't like him; she simply did this with all people. She was naturally simply afraid of being close to people--emotionally, and physically. That was all there was to it. She hoped he would take no offense to it, as it was just an instinctive action on her part.[break][break]
The Shadow of the Dawn handed her something. A token? As he explained its purpose, her face lit up in surprise. She didn't particularly expect something like a gift like this. One that would allow her permission on their estate. Was that really okay? Was it really permissible? She had no idea. Then again, Zaven was the family head. His word was law within the Blakes. So... if the raven-haired male before her said so, then it simply was.[break][break]
"T-Thank you..." Verena said, as she carefully accepted the item, putting the item back in her coat pocket. She couldn't quite figure out the words to explain how happy she was.
Zaven also offered to have her use his tab for meals and drinks, but she couldn't. Her pride wouldn't let her. Not just because she was a noble, but... he was, still, a Blake. She knew deep down that he was offering solely out of kindness but she couldn't accept it. Still, she did follow him to the inn. She couldn't shake the feeling there was more to come. The snowman attack felt a little too... specific, to be random.
