The life of a Nobleman was filled with nonsense tasks that did nothing but act as play. Yet the most play thing, tea, was one of the very few things about being a Noble that Yugo enjoyed. It was nothing but play, playing nice with those you hate, playing sweet with girls you do not want. What he would give to be embraced by a male lover instead of some forced marriage to a woman he has no love or care for. But alas, as nobility he did not have that luxury. He could have a lover of course, hidden and secret. But it was not something he carried to do in the shadows, yet there were expectations to be met… if he was to one day lead the diamonds, he would need to be able to bring forth a blood heir.
But as Yugos mind drifted, he found himself in front of where he was to be. The headquarters of the Golden Dawn. He had thankfully had tea with his Cousin already and had received his Silver Eagles mantle. Underneath it he wore his most regal and noble outfit, the same as he had with his cousin. It was blue with silver and gold trim that was mimicked on his pants and shoes. He wore the Sapphire Marker on his lapel showing his status within our Beaulieu, though he only wore it to appease his uncles desire for nobility. What he would give to be with the commoners, in comfortable cloths.
He entered, and despite having every free eye on him from the magic knights present he did not waver or lower his eyes. He walked with his decorative sword on his side, his hand resting comfortably on his hilt. It was quiet as he did so and after a moment the chatter resumed, though it was notably less loud. He recognized many from his time with his family, and living under his uncle, where he had either met or seen them or their parents when they were meeting with his father or uncle.
However as he approached, a few of the Knights got up. They were higher ranking then Yugo, yet he did not care. He was annoyed however when they got in his way. The leader of this small group smiled smuggly and commented on why a Silver Eagles was in their headquarters, and told him to go back to Silva where he belonged.
Yugo replied plainly and softly. “Please step aside. You will make me late.”
A Second member of the small group laughed and commented on how he didn’t have anyone with him, not even a servent or a helper and made a snide remark about how he should just dress like a commoner if he wasn’t going to be a proper noble.
Yugos voice grew a bit sterner as they refused to listen. “Please… Step aside.” He gripped his swords hilt, though he kept his grimiore locked and in place. The Nobles noticed his movement and they pulled out their books.
“let’s teach him a les—” the man did not get to finish his sentence as the mostly safe decorative blade found itself in his mouth, the slightly blunted tip pressed against the soft upper palate of the mouth. He grabbed the man’s arm to hold him with that position as the other two prepared to respond, Yugo stared them down with eyes ready to spill blood. There was no hesitation there.
“What lesson would you have to teach me?” the rest of the knights in the hall stood, but did not join as Yugo walked the man backwards toward the table he had been at before. “Would it be what happens when you antagonize someone above your station? Would that lesson be that you get no where by acting big yet being weak?”
He pushed him gently with the sword tip in his mouth to have him sit down. He was shakily doing just that. And once he was seated Yugo removed the sword and cleaned it off with the mans own golden dawn mantle.
“You should be ashamed. You dishonor that mantle you wear by existing.” Yugo would then remove a letter from his breast pocket and hold it up for others to see that it bore the mark of the golden dawns leader. “I was invited here, for tea. Please, let the Captain know his guest, Yugo Beaulieu has arrived.”
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Since when was he in the business of entertaining guests...Zaven Blake, the nobleman and head of the Blake household was asked to speak to and have tea with a young Silver Eagle recruit by the name of Yugo Beaulieu. He was always willing to help the Magic Knights of any squad, but as with most things...nobles have a certain quality about them. A few minutes later as a member of the squad walked in with the hot tea kettle and the dining china, the Shadow of Dawn felt the presence of Hraban at his shoulder. He looked at the shadow spirit and nodded. ”We are going to have an impromptu lesson Hraban...Socializing with the noble classes of Clover can yield additional information needed when we are out in the field. That and working with someone that is of a different squad can be…” He was about to speak further when he felt the mana downstairs surge and the appearance of a small aura, he was not alarmed by this, but he knew that people loved to cause problems...so with a small sigh he stood up and moved towards the door as Hraban sat on his shoulder. ”Working with other squads can be what Zaven?” The spirit asked as Zaven just shook his head before opening the door and taking a step out, answering the raven shadow spirit. ”Problematic…” [break][break]
Walking out to the balcony he would see the scene below in the waiting area, he honestly was ready to knock some heads when he heard the Silver Eagle lad speak, holding up a letter and demanding someone see the invitation. Zaven just gave a cursory glance to the spirit on his shoulder before he whistled to the youth. ”You can take your invite and come on up then. I have been waiting.” Zaven said with a commanding tone, the Golden Dawn members all snapped at attention in the presence of their commander.

The presence of the room changed almost instantly. The whistle was loud and sharp. But even before that he had felt the air in the Great Hall he wS in change. Whatever light had been within it was gone, not physically, but emotionally. He lowered his arm as he forgot all of those around him even as the two friend son the man he had threatened prepared to get revenge he paid them no heed.
As if in slow motion, he activated his mana sensory skill and was assaulted by the pure strength and heaviness of the mana making its way toward him. The source soon made itself known as the whistle went out and he found himself looking directly at the Captain of the Golden Dawn. Their eyes locked, and Yugo almost lost face by dropping his eyes. But he held it firm, if not a little shaky.
He bowed softly and allowed himself an excuse to break eye contact. He stood back up and made his way as commanded to the staircase. The members he had interacted with were visibly shaken by the display, only causing Yugos Disgust of them to Grow in intensity. To call themselves Nobles yet to lack the spine necessary was insulting to the man who had been all but entirely bedridden for 15 of his 18 years of life.
He began to climb the stairs, not to slowly, not to quickly. He ascended them in the way proper to his nobility and having a moment before he had started his climb to steady himself, Yugo held his head equal to his status. His eyes now fully and purposely locked with Zavens own. Yugo Beaulieu had started this life as an infant who’s very act of living and learning and experiencing caused broken bones and terrible injuries because of his uncontrolled Glass Magic, something he did not blame his parents for as they had quite literally given their life in search of a cure for his unknown condition at that point. Yet now he stood tall and relatively healthy and without issue before the Captain of the Golden Dawn, a man that Yugo had grown up with stories of.
His mother, Syla Beaulieu, was once a prominent member of the Golden Dawn and close friend with Zaven for almost the entirety of her life and a majority of Zavens. He had spent nearly every night when his mother was present hearing tales of her captain, and how heroic and noble he was. In truth, Zaven was the reason Yugo had even joined the Magic Knights. If he had any say in it he would have tried out for the Golden Dawn, but his Uncle, the head of the Beaulieu family had decided to place him in the Silver Eagles, a decision that Yugo was not happy about. But did not reject as he did not wish to insult his uncle after all he had done for him in his life after his parents were murdered.
He reached Zaven and as nobly as possible he knelt and if given the chance would kiss the Captains Signet Ring put of respect. “Captain Zaven. It is an absolute honor to have been Invited by your gracious request. Though I must admit I do not think I have done anything worth this honor.” He was soft spoken and his voice was like music in its flow. He lifted his head if given permission to stand, revealing the icy blue eyes of Yugo for Zaven to see in full detail. He stood and thanked Zaven once more. “Forgive me, but it would be wrong of me not to apologize for any issues my arrival may have caused. However….I will not apologize for teaching them the same lesson they wished to teach me. I hope that is acceptable.”
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Locking eyes with the fair haired individual he was instantly reminded of a face he knew...long ago, and in a different time. Now it made sense and the captain of the Golden Dawn watched as the young man began to climb the stairs he watched as the ascent seemed to be more of a time taking walk so the youth could clear his head or possibly maybe leave. However, none of that happened as the male knelt down and then said it was an honor...Zaven did not chuckle, instead he would clasp a hand on Yugo’s shoulder and then help him back up, before sticking his hand out to shake the hand of the Silver Eagle. ”For the son of a woman...I once knew really well, I would not take you for the kind to kneel in front of anyone. Be proud of who you are, stand. Shake my hand and salute, Yugo Beaulieu, then we shall go and talk and enjoy the tea.” He said as he kept his hand out for the shake. Once that gesture would be done he would welcome the young man into his office, a tea set was set on his desk with the kettle letting off a little steam as Zaven beckoned the Silver Eagle to take a seat, after which he would go over to a side chair and do the same. After a few short moments he would finally speak in relation to the young man. [break][break]
"As for my compatriots downstairs, you come into a base wearing the squad colors of a rival squad so of course they will get antsy...but you are the son of a Golden Dawn member...a very good friend of mine actually...To say that you behaved out of character would be...untrue as your mother had me pinned down onto the wall. Regardless, it is water under the bridge, how are you enjoying the Magic Knights so far?” He would ask with a simple smile on his face. He would pour three cups of tea, one being a bit smaller than the other two. Hraban would then peak out at Yugo, before taking the cup of tea and taking a drink, curiously looking at the Silver Eagle mage with no clear intent to do anything except to listen to the conversation between the two mages.

As Yugo was commanded to stand he did so and smiled as he shook the hand of the Golden Dawns Captain. The young Silver Eagles proudly gave the salute to the Captain before he and the older man joined in the Captains office/room. The Silver Eagles eyes quickly looked over the room, half to make sure this was not a trap, something he did not believe but safety was Paramount. He also looked around to try to learn as much as he can about the Captain.
The room was decorated sparsely, but what was there revealed a lot, and confirmed even more for Yugo. Various pictures dotted the walls, former captains reaching back all the way first, a few notable vice captains as well. Maybe they were the ones Zaven looked up to, or respected in some way. He saw the picture evidence if the stories his mother had told him, the achievements of their small team before zaven became part of the Golden Dawns Big Three.
He stopped on the way to the table and looked at the portrait of his mother, Syla Beaulieu and Zaven when they had been about his age, having just gotten their first real rank advancement as a small squad in the group. He smiled softly, and was tempted to touch the picture. But instead he turned and made his way to the table, sitting down nobly and smiling softly, but it was obvious the smile was a mask to hide the pain that had been freshly reopened. He leaned back gently sipping the tea as he crossed a leg.
“That interaction should not have been the reaction of Rivals, but as comrades…. The divisiveness of the Magic Knight System is only second to the gap between commoners and nobles.” He spoke truthfully. But then blushed softly. “Forgive me. I have …what most nobles would consider a unpopular view of things. But that cannot be helped when you spent 15 years bound to a bed I think.” He sipped his tea to allow himself a moment to think, and allow Zaven to speak if he felt it necessary.
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] The Shadow of Dawn watched the young man peruse his office space. Zaven did not let many people inside the place, mostly close friends, officers he had to answer to and get reports from...and then those special to him. However seeing as he was asked from his family to set up this meeting there was bound to be a reason why. He assumed it was because of the resources that the family held. Then as he sat down he noticed the demeanor change even behind that smile, the Blake was his senior in terms of experience and age...that and knew how it was growing up in this world. Then the opening statement about rivalry made him think back and he gave a small nod to the Silver Eagle, the “unpopular view” he held was not unlike his own when he was that age. He was in fact happy to be reminded of such a time when he was awoken to the harshness of the outside world and that he could make a difference if he had enough strength [break][break]
”You know...that unpopular view is not as unpopular as you may think. I know that when I was your age, and had a different face...I was being kept in my house, never knowing the outside world...till I ventured out myself, and even then I was met with hostility, confusion, and even retribution...However the rivalry I speak of within the knights is less animosity as was shown earlier and more friendly competition. I know on a few occasions I trained, sparred with, and even drank with the old Silver Eagle captain, and a few other members of the squad. It is all a matter of perspective. However, that gap between nobles and commoners...I do agree that the space is quite large...filled with inflated egos and busted dreams. So there is no reason to be sorry, and even more still I want to know. Why were you bedridden? I knew a member of your family...a good friend of mine...it seems like it’s been nearly two decades since I last...enjoyed her presence.” Zaven said the last part a bit slowly as he remembered the woman...Syla...
The young Silver Eagles listened to his idol speak. He had once shared similar views, and that help ease Yugos heart a bit. If a man like Zaven had once agreed with him, then there must be a reason why, though he did have a slight pang of worry. Wondering what could have influenced Zaven to change how he had thought to what he currently does. He cast his eyes down as he was asked to explain his history. He took a sip of the tea and set the cup back down. He looked out the window and then began to speak.
“18 years ago… I was born to Syla and Issac Beaulieu.” He turned to look back inside. “My magic is the same as my Mothers, Glass runs strong in our family.” He chuckled at what he said and sighed softly. “Sadly my Body was fragile and weak when I was born. Just strong enough to not die from the weight of my own body. But to weak and pathetic to exist in any form besides as a cripple with bedsores....forgive me for my curtness. From the day I was born, to the day I was finally able to get my grimoire, I could not leave my home, or even my bed most days. I’m sorry for robbing you and the Golden Dawn of my mothers presence. If I died at my birth, or better yet never born, my mother would still be saving lives and helping the people. My father would still be scouting unknown regions for the Purple Orcas.” He looked up and his eyes were almost spitting images of his mothers. “I have cost this kingdom two of its Greatest Knights. I owe my existance to the Clover Kingdom, so I will make sure to do right by them, commoners and nobles alike.”
In a distant time, lost to the shatter, a woman smiled as she stood in the Magic Knights personal room. Her face was shadowed, but the features of Yugos mother were like artwork. “To Think… your going to the be the next Golden Dawn Captain, Zaven…” she smiled softly, her hand holding Zavens to her belly. “If it was not for my betrothal to Issac…our child would be growing up a member of your household.”
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] He heard that name again and he was taken back to a time that he...actually did not recall in his own head. It caused him a great deal of pain, and Hraban actually looked up at Zaven with a look of concern before looking back at Yugo, Zaven remembered… [break][break]
A Time...many years ago...18 to be exact… [break][break]
Zaven and Syla were alone in a Golden Dawn room, at the headquarters. Zaven had been receiving personal training from Vice CaptainTetsuya and squad Captain Arthurius. In this memory, the Golden Trio was not yet established and Syla, Zaven, and another...Issac Beaulieu were nearly inseparable since entering their magic squads together at the same age. However, after a mission that Syla and Zaven took while Issac was away on a dungeon subjugation mission...Zaven was let in on a piece of information that would change his life. A son he would never be able to know, his closest friend raising his child and the secret he would have to keep for the remainder of his life. [break][break]
He came back to the conversation at the moment where Yugo was apologizing to Zaven for the loss of his mother and father. Yet he remembered again, in his timeline...Syla was very much alive and so was Issac...they did not have the same relationship there however, the two converging memories were clashing in his head and finally a single tear rolled down his cheek. Something like that...he had not experienced in such a long time. He looked at Yugo and nodded, wiping the tear away. He held his composure for now, remembering a memory that was not his...Syla’s passing...He was already captain by that time...Sylvester had died as a hero...Vulkan became harsh and distant. [break][break]
Hraban blinked as he felt the feelings inside of Zaven’s psyche. Then the conflicting memories made the shadow mana in the room fluctuate wildly for a moment. There was no gust of wind, or unbearing pressure, but the shadows of various things around the office began to dance and flicker...the spirit felt pain. Zaven took a drink of his tea before finally speaking. ”Your mother was a terrific knight, and I am proud to have served by her side for the time I had your father was as well...a friend to me that I will never forget. Sorry if the sudden invitation and my...lack of speech make me seem unhappy or a bad host. There were a few things I had just recently come to remember...What exactly did Syla...tell you about me?” He finished his little apology with a question as he looked at the young mage before him, He did not belong in those Silver Eagle robes...he was better than that squad...
Yugo watched as the captain shed a tear. It was a soft kindness that Yugo was glad to see. It meant his mother had meant just as much to Zaven as Zaven had to her. He smiled, even as the shadows danced and looked at his father unknowingly. “She told me, that no matter what, if there was one person she could truly trust in the kingdom of Clover, It was you sir. Every night, before bed, she would tell me not just the stories of battles, but of lose, and fear… she didn’t hide anything from me about you sir. In all this world, I think the only person who knows you better then me would have been my mother.” He sipped the tea. “She always knew you’d be there to save her, and anyone else.”
In a distant time, in a memory that never happened, Zaven recalled the death of his friends.
The pouring rain was so thick and heavy, the road was nothing but mud now, as a corrupted Issac stood over his dying wife. A strange cloaked figure smiled and reached out to touch Issac again, but Issacs body moved away, cradling his dying wife’s body protectively. The cloaked figure smiled and cast a spell that caused Issac to scream out in pain, loud enough to echo even against the rain. He dropped his wife as he struggled to remain in control as the corruption spread further.
“You should have told me where the damn crystal is girl! Your husband didn’t need to be transfigured” he kept the spell going as Issac purposely slammed himself against a Boulder to try to kill himself before being fully taken over. “Such a strong will for a dirty filthy monkey.”
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] That same memory from Zavens perspective was different of course, the magic knight, newly minted Vice Captain Zaven Blake was out to see the lovely couple...his best friends. He had brought a gift for them, a dungeon item, a crystal that gleamed with the purity of untouched glass, yet radiated mana like a piece of an archmage’s soul. Zaven informed the couple that the piece was called a Soul Gem, and inside of it was the essence of a creature more powerful than the Golden Trio was together, but it would aid their son, Yugo...the fresh teen was seemingly weak..and bedridden. Zaven immediately did them a favor, he crushed the essence with his bare hands, using great strength to carve out a pendant. Giving it to Syla, a smile across his face as he handed the pendant over, the light would catch it and fill the room with an aurora of soothing and soft light. Zaven was warned to not to let anyone know where they were...Issac was suprised that the Blake noble even found them to begin with. The Vice Captain would leave that night, near dusk as Yugo finally fell asleep...he had a mission the next morning and could not stay longer. [break][break]
Zaven was halfway back to the Golden Dawn headquarters when he felt the tug of the shadows...that voice in his head, urging him to go back...Zaven then realized he had Syla’s old mantle turned into a baby blanket, it was in his traveling pack on his broom. The Blake noble would sigh before turning around...however the scene he would find when he arrived was nothing he was prepared for. The first floor of Issac’s manor was smoldering, a powerful, evil aura radiated from the place. Zaven’s grimoire chot up from his belt and he leaped from the broom without a second to think. Finding the scene, his secret love...Syla was cold...inside of the manor was a beast that kneeling to a cloaked figure. Zaven became the embodiment of chaos...shadows around him would flicker and there was a fight...the outcome that would leave The cloaked figure having run away, and his old friend...transfigured into a beast...laying on the floor, torn in half and spurting blood. He made Zaven promise to protect the boy, get him to the Beaulieu family… [break][break]
A flash of memory again...Zaven however was still in his office and he nodded again. ”I am grateful that she told you as much as she did...so why did you enter the Silver Eagles? I don’t remember your Magic Knight Exams...do the Beaulieu’s have such a great influence with the eagles?” He asked the question, off the cuff and Zaven had a look at Hraban who knew what was going on inside of his head...the spirit knew something about all of this.
Yugo listened to the man’s words. Before finishing the tea and setting the cup down.
“If I had had any say in it, I would have been grateful to have attempted the exam, even if I had failed.” He chuckled softly, the soft alabaster skin was pale, yet warm at the same time. He opened his eyes as he looked at Zaven, the Icy Blue eyes shimmered with the internal dancing of…something, a dark spot that had a tinge of Violet to its color.
“My uncle insisted however that I had already been placed in the Silver Eagles. He said that I would benefit best from there…but the truth is he just didn’t want me choose, as grateful as I am to him, I wish I was free of his control.”
He did pause though, did his uncle have an ulterior motive for putting him in the Silver Eagles? If he could get them to let him into the Silver Eagles easily, why would he not have attempted to have him placed in the best Magic Knights Squad? What reason would his uncle have had? That was perhaps a question for another time.
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Hearing the young man's words, his conviction, his pride...Zaven really was reminded of a younger version of himself and he gave a soft chuckle for a moment, nothing that could really be seen as if he was mocking the man, but it might get pushed that way if someone was not versed in speech. He knew a little about the Beaulieu family, the knowledge he had though was from his original timeline...not this, but it seemed as though they were similar in taste. Too bad though Yuurei is no longer captain...otherwise there would be no doubt he would benefit from the squad. Then Yugo asked him what the reasoning for him being asked to come to this meeting was. Zaven finished his cup of tea before answering him honestly. ”Yugo, Beaulieu...I would like for you to consider transferring squads to the Golden Dawn. The Beaulieu family has treated you...well, but the squad that your uncle has you in now will not benefit your growth. I hope you can consider this…” He was blunt as well but he also had another question, though this one he had to skirt around it carefully. [break][break]
”Did...did you ever receive a crystal pendant? It might have been kept a secret, but I did not notice it on your person when you came into the office.” He was coy about it...but his reasons for this was that he did not wish to inform him of how his parents met their demise yet...or how he was really Yugo’s father. [break][break]
The memory struck him again as Zaven had slammed Issac’s own sword through his body, blood pouring from the wound onto the Shadow of Dawn’s hand...before blood was spat on his face. He remembered Issac telling Zaven that he knew...he knew that Yugo was not his. As the memory faded from Zaven’s conscious mind Hraban had already gotten up and walked over to the other side of the desk where Yugo was sitting and he pointed up at him. ”Zaven, why does he have a similar aura to yours?” the shadow raven spirit said aloud, not taking the social cue here and Zaven almost wanted to swat at the damned thing, but he did not.
He wanted him… to leave the Silver Eagles? The idea had never occurred to Yugo, that he may still have a choice about where he wanted to be. He had given up on that idea when his uncle had kept him from the exams. But now…he was lost in his thoughts for a moment, and almost kissed Zavens next question.
“A Pendent?” He smiled softly and from under his uniform he removed the oddly shaped crystal pendent. He held it out, and took it off his neck. “Yes, yes I did. It’s a vague memory, from the night my parents died… it was given to me by,” his mind paused for a second, the breath of a memory that was best left forgotten began to touch at Yugos nose. But just before the floodgates of memory could be broken, tha ravens question pulled it back.
“Similar Aura?” he asked, then laughed a bit. “I doubt your sensing my aura, little bird. My aura is like glass, translucent. It doesn’t over power, it doesn’t doesn’t push against. It lets things move through it, reflected at an off angle. Its been a theory I’ve had for a long time… as to why my magic, despite being mine, almost killed me.” He lifted his head.
“The only Reason I have such a good control is because of my father… his invisibility, his illusions… he was strong. But he was always see through, with and without his magic. Sad to say, but the man held his heart on his chest openly.”
In a time that happened, yet never did, as issacs mutilated body died the cloaked man laughed happily. The loud laughter waking Yugo. Having spent the majority of the death of his father attempting to get down stairs without breaking a bone, his femur snapped as he finally saw what had happened and attempted to run toward the corpses of his parents.
“AHHH! MOTHER! FATHER!” he was laying on the ground, his leg snapped. But he tried to crawl forward.
The cloaked figure laughed more. “Well Well! The rumors were true…” The mans arm changed into a monstrous limb. “Sorry Brat, but I need you die too, don’t you wanna join mommy and daddy?”
The rain suddenly stopped, as the figure looked up confused, his hood falling down, revealing the daemon possessed human underneath. Above the man was a cloud of glass Slivers. Hundred and hundred. “Its not possible…YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE A GRIMO--" The man didn’t get yo finish his sentence as Yugos rage ordered the complete and utter destruction of the man he now hated the most.
“DIE! DIE! DIEDIEDIEDIE JUST DIE ALREADDDDYYY!” the storm of Glass shredded the man’s body, even as he laughed in death. The rain resumed, as Yugo collapsed to the ground screaming in pain. His body was rejecting the mass of mana and his mind was rejecting the reality it now existed in.
Yugo was fully unable to control his man anymore, and as such glass erupted out of his leg where the break had happened, a bizarre mixture of calcium and glass was now exposed to the air.
[attr="class","zavenreescroll"] Yugo seemed to be preoccupied with whatever thoughts were plaguing him, for a moment Zaven thought to himself that perhaps it was not the best thing that he said, and that this was possibly going to dissolve into a shouting match or worse. However, if he knew anything about his own bloodline and the descendants...he would be proud and stand tall even in a precarious situation such as this. Then with the little interaction with Yugo and Hraban was cute from an outside perspective; it was actually more enlightening as Zaven now understood why Hraban would not remove its eyes from the form of the boy since he entered the room. Then with the explanation of his magic and how it affected the young mage, Zaven nodded...he was sure the pendant was in the possession of this young man and with Yugo’s pained expression he understood the loss he had sustained all too well. It seemed as though this was a trait of the Blakes that nobody seemed to address. [break][break]
”Yugo...I knew your mother and father, as you already know, but there is a piece of knowledge that you are not aware of...Let me fetch a piece real quick.” He said as he stood up and retrieved a magical piece of equipment that his father had used to strengthen and hasten his mana growth. However it was an amazing tool to also find the nature of one’s mana if it was poured in. He placed it on a table between them before he began to pour mana into it. The shadow mana began to radiate and permeate throughout the room as he looked to Yugo. ”This tool will prove to me something I want to know as well, notice how I give it mana without a thought...no hidden agenda...just pure mana…” He took his hand away and gestured to Yugo. ”I want you to do the same now, it will show glass for sure, but I think there is something else lurking, if Hraban can sense it...I have to be sure for myself. So please, if you would be so kind.” He gestured to the crystal ball and waited for Yugo as if this one moment defined what path the young mage would have laid before him.
Yugo looked at the jar, curiosity clawed at Yugos mind as to what was the true purpose of this meeting. Deep down inside him he wondered what it was they were seeing in him. What was the raven shaped spirit named Hraban sensing inside him? Yugo was certain he had nothing special inside him. Nothing about him was extraordinary or unique, besides the fact that his bones were fragile and only managed to not be broken by his walking thanks to his mana control. He looked at the raven spirit, his eyes unconsciously narrowing to deadly shape. But as Zaven explained the use of the item Yugo was quiet. Before placing his hand on the jar, he looked Zaven in the eye and smiled.
“If it will let you determine something important… then I cannot kindly and honorably decline.” He placed his hand over the jar, his mana flowing down like liquid into the jar, it touched the edge and almost instantly glass began to form like a spiky shell, but deep within each spike was a core of shadow. Yugo looked at it shocked, he stood up and the couch he was sitting on was pushed by his sudden movement and made a loud noise. “impossible…I don’t have shadow magic, I don’t even have anyone in my family who can use sha…. Shadows…” the last word fell short. His icy blue eyes stared down Zaven with such fire and animosity that it might have melted his icy blue eyes if it could. His mind was racing, there must have been a mistake, there must have been some mistake. But as he looked at Zaven, his soul understood…and rejected it. A distant memory, a time long forgotten and viewed through the eyes and innocence of an infant came to Yugos mind. His mother was speaking happily to someone, and soon Zaven was in his nursery, looking down at him. His mother and Zaven held infant Yugo close and lovingly. ‘You won’t remember this my little glass child…but this man is your father… his name is Zaven.’
His mana erupted so violently and forcefully that it shook the entire room, shattering the jar and sending the furniture not being sat on flying. The eruption of mana was felt by the lower ranks, who rushed up the stairs to defend their captain.
“DON’T YOU DARE! DON’T YOU EVEN SPEAK THOSE WORDS!” He turned in heartbreak and pain. As the door exploded open and several knights burst in. But Yugo didn’t care. He cried, his body giving out as he fell to his knees. The young boy knew it was true, his memory was exceptional. But he didn’t want to except it. It would mean it was all a lie. The knights looked confused and and if told would leave, and even if they wouldn’t they would back away and reclose the door. Yugos sobs were bitter. But he knew… his mother and Zaven were so close, that if he had been born with shadow magic it would have been so obvious to him.
