It was another day in Charles's life as a Magic Knight, the thoughts of him wondering how did he make it into the Magic Knights still roamed his mind. Could it be something, not even he was able to see? Something besides his laziness? He had no clue, and he didn't seem like he wanted to admit it either way.
This day was more different from the others, he had to wake up a bit earlier than usual, this was something he didn't like doing. Charles was ordered to head the market and trading area of Sosshi and make sure they weren't people trying to steal from the market and keep everything in order. That was one of the many jobs Magic Knights, after all. He didn't really want to do it, the Captain knew that, but he sent him anyway. Refusing an order from the Captain would've ended up badly, he was smart enough to know that. If everything went smoothly, he wouldn't have to do much.
Charles woke up a bit earlier than usual to prepare himself and head to himself. Tying his hair into a low ponytail and putting on his Magic Knight mantle. He was ready to head towards Sosshi even if he wanted to or not, leaving the Black Bulls Headquarters he made his way towards Sosshi. Sosshi was close to the Black Bulls Headquarters so it wouldn't take long for him to arrive at the town of Sosshi, soon after arriving he made his way to the market and trading area of the town.
The moment Charles arrived in the market and trading area of the town. He placed himself in a place where he was able to see the majority of the surrounding area, this will make it easier for him to spot if there was anything going wrong, this wouldn't require him to move around constantly and only move when needed. Charles was wearing his usual outfit, a white half-sleeved shirt with black pants, his black long hair tied into a low ponytail, and the most noticeable feature of his outfit, a Magic Knight mantle.
The market and the trading area had a decent amount of people, some were merchants opening their stall early in the morning, other people woke up early to buy their food, items, and trade with the merchants that were in the area. Sosshi was a trading town, so this wasn't a surprise for Charles. He scratched and sighed, this was boring for him, he wished he was able to do something else aside from watching people go on through their usual lives, but leaving the place wasn't wise. It was likely he will get yelled if he left his post to do something else and will rather avoid such a thing.
Some time passed, he was starting to get a bit thirsty, since he was at the market area it wouldn't an issue for him to go one of the stalls nearby to buy some water, standing around for a while was tiring so it was normal, he could also collapse from dehydration if he wasn't careful. He walked towards a nearby vending stall and was greeted by a man who was selling food, water, and other basic necessities people buy to sustain themselves.
"Good morning young man! What can I do for you? The vendor saw Charles and it didn't take him long to realize he was a Magic Knight, he knew the Black Bulls Headquarters were nearby the town so it was quite common for him to see members of the Black Bulls walk around the town
Charles looked at the owner of the stall and greeted him. "Good morning. I will like a bottle of water, please." His face didn't show much emotion, but he talked to the vendor in a polite way, he was taught to be nice and polite since he was a child. The vendor smiled at him and handed him the bottle of water."Of course! Here you go."
"Thank you." Charles gave the vendor some yul for the water and took a sip from it. Once he was done he walked away from the stall and made his way back to his patrol spot.

What has pink hair, an ostentatious fringe lined knit cap with flaps to cover her ears and a little fuzzball on top? What has a tiny pale body that's wrapped up in a winter scarf and taking care of themselves by wearing not one but three layers of jackets and pants? What is having trouble waddling its way down through the streets of Sosshi? In the middle of Summer time no less? Even with the heat bearing down on it? Well, judging by all of the people whispering among themselves and passing words along to one another, it was some weird sort of shut in.
They were half right. She was a shut in, but she wasn't weird. Wait, was it the other way around for the petite wild thing tucked away under all that garb? It was the chief of New Haven's daughter, one of them at least. Willow Omens. She was red in the face, sweat beading on her brow. But that was a small price to pay. She would not allow this sort of impediment to keep her held back. Furrowing her brow, trundling on ahead, the wrapped up wildling made her way along through the streets of the den of debauchery that Sosshi could put up a front of from time to time.
For Willow, she was here for but a single thing, and a single thing alone. Two buy something from the market she very much had a great need for, well, okay, it wasn't that she utterly had a dire need for this particular item from the mercantile mecca, but, she was here for a second, secret, ulterior motive! She was challenging herself. She was trying to make a strive, a great leap and bound across the ocean so to speak. But she was making a maelstrom out of a breeze, a lake out of a puddle. It wasn't that hard for someone to just leave their home town, was it?
Well, for Willow, it very much was! For that reason alone, that agoraphobic and anxiety ridden little cinnamon roll, this was almost more than her little heart strings could bear. She swore they would snap, any moment now, she'd have a heart attack. That was just the panic talking, the voices screaming at her that she was not safe out here. There was no place safe outside of The Haven. She needed to be back home, where all was well.
She was so lost in her thought process that she did not even realize at first, but she was in the center of the merchant square, and was right in front of one of the stalls. The man operating it was leaning to the left, to the right. Arms folded with a stern look upon his brow. With the muscles on his face twisting up and one eyebrow quirking upward, he finally cleared his throat, slamming his hands down on to the counter loudly and with emphasis to get Willow's attention!
Drawn away from her day dream like state of nightmarish thoughts, she jumped, a flabbergasted look on her face as she looked at the man. "I asked ya already, ya buyin anything or ya just gonna stand there gawkin? I have people lookin and it's bad for business, you get my drift?!"
"I -- I'm sorry!" She said muffled while scrambling, her mitten covered hands moving as deftly as they could, fumbling around with her scarf, pulling the fabric taut over her face, trying to keep herself masked, for no reason other than to keep herself from uncovering any bit at all.

As Charles was heading back to his post, he took another sip from his water bottle. Suddenly he heard a small commotion in a stall nearby. The young Magic Knight looked at where the commotion was coming from his attention turning to the man in the stall who had a stern look on his face, he didn't seem in a good mood. Charles's attention then shifted to the pink-haired girl who had apologized to the stall vendor, her clothing was strange to him, he usually didn't see people wearing that type of clothing around here. He sighed and started to make his way towards the place where he had a small commotion.
The young magic scratched his head, people nearby were able to tell he was a member of the Black Bulls who had their Headquarters nearby the town of Sosshi. Once he arrives at the stall he looks at the man and asks him a question. "Is there a problem here? Charles spoke in a monotonous voice, not really showing any care on what was going on, but he went to check if there was something wrong. Why will someone like him do such a thing? If he let something slip while he was on patrol and Captain Watanabe were to find out it wouldn't end up well for him.
Charles then looked at the girl once again. It seemed like she was covering himself, judging by her body language she seemed like she was shy. Was she not from around here or something? Was she lost and had no clue where to go or what to do? Charles didn't know, but the moment she noticed the girl's body language several questions came to his mind in an instant, then again it was too early for him to assume anything. So it will be better for him to ask. "Are you alright?" The young Magic Knight with a ponytail looked at Willow despite covering her face with her scarf, his face didn't show a lot of emotion and his face made it seem like he was tired or bored, this wasn't the case it was just his usual face. He preferred to be safe than sorry, the image of him getting yelled by the Captain crossed his mind several times.
The pink-haired girl could see that the young man with a ponytail was a Magic Knight, she could tell by looking at his mantle. His presence wasn't imposing at all despite him being a Magic Knight. That's correct, Charles isn't very imposing compared to other Magic Knights, but that was the entire point. This could probably give confidence for anyone around to try and steal something, but he didn't care. Charles was not an idiot, despite appearing like one. He has always relied on believing the enemy he could win easily and win when he has his guard down. He could probably be imposing if he wanted to, sure, but he was too lazy to do such a thing. At the end of the day, this will make it easy for him to catch anyone who believed they could steal from someone in here and get away with it, if it happened he wouldn't allow that, mainly due to the fact that he will get yelled at if his Captain were to find out he allowed such a thing to happen.

"The hell are you shoutin' for? Ain't no reason to apologize to me. Just buy somethin' already and move your ass along dammit! I got stuff to shill out and money to rake in. If ya want some stones, fork over the coin. If ya want to grab some grub, head on over to the restaurants or some shit! I don't have the time for this kinda crap!" The merchant said to Willow before the presence of another person arrived.
Oh woe, woe is the lowly agoraphobe who wanted to associate with only a single person. She found herself in a three-way conversation. Drat and dash, this would be troublesome. She was caught between a rock and a hard place. And that hard place grated on her like a sandpaper face scrub from the sauna of sadism by the masseuse of masochism! Her face was going red from all the blood rushing to it. Pulling her scarf to her face tighter, the Havenite just now was going through the first stage of heat exhaustion. It probably was all the garments she wore.
With the advent of Charles coming on to the scene, the skittish water mage found herself trying to defend herself, only for the merchant to butt in. "Girl's been gawking at the wears! Scarin' the piss outta people, and not moving. It's like she's in another world or something. Can you just, I dunno, move her along or something?"
Willow glanced at Charles before she gulped audibly, though it was muted by the thick layer of two scarves wrapped about her throat. "I, I, I am fine!" She shouted, probably louder than she needed to be. Crouching down immediately after, she held her hands up over her head, pressing into the hat she wore while her chin and nose dug into her knees. Balanced on her tiptoes and the balls of her feet, Willow struggled to not have a panic attack right then and there on the spot.
Glancing up to the man as he spoke to her, she had a teary-eyed and constricted pupil gaze to her. She was in a clear state of panic. She needed to be taken off of the streets and someplace private, away from the crowd. If only her sisters were here to help her, alas, they were back home.

Charles scratched his head and sighed, this girl seemed strange just by looking at her clothing. "Uh... Let me see... He replied with a bored tone of voice, as he placed his hand on his chin, he turned his attention to Willow. "You sure...? The young magic knight spoke to Willow his voice wasn't showing any emotion at the time, he didn't look intimidating, more like he was a silly Magic Knight. He didn't have much interest in dealing with this, but it's not like this had any other option, this girl seemed strange to him, was she from here anyway? Looking at Willow once again, he saw how she was hiding her with her clothing. He sighed once again, this was starting to get really weird, he could tell some people were looking at them, they were starting to attract a good amount of people.
He was starting to get slightly annoyed, it wouldn't look good for him to drag the girl out of the market, it's not like she has something bad to justify it. The young man scratched his cheek giving Willow an innocent look, making it seem like she wasn't going to do anything terrible to her, or simply he couldn't bother himself to scold the poor girl. "Uhh.. How about you come with me? I'll buy you some food." He spoke to Willow in a gentle way trying not to cause her any panic, he was able to tell she was anxious and making her stay in public while grabbing the attention of everyone else wasn't going to result well. He pointed towards a nearby restaurant that was open and started to slowly walk towards the direction of the restaurant looking back at Willow. "Come on." The restaurant seemed empty at the time, usually, people went to eat until later so they wouldn't grab any unnecessary attention inside there. As he started to walk to the restaurant Charles looked back occasionally making sure the girl didn't get lost or had some sort of panicked. All of this was enough for him to deduce that the girl was someone shy. He wasn't sure what she was doing there, especially with those clothes. Charles felt that if he wore that he will probably pass out with the amount of heat he will be exposed to with that clothing.
Once they were both at the restaurant Charles looked an empty table for the two of them to sit down, this didn't take long as the restaurant was quite empty, not a lot of people were eating at the time. He took a seat nearby the desk and looked at Willow. "Anything you want to eat? I'll pay for it, don't worry about it. The lazy young man who seemed to show no sort of emotion or interest when he talked, asked her a question, despite how he sounded, there was still some politeness in the way he spoke. He didn't seem like he had any ill intentions, he literally sounded dead from the inside, Charles seemed like he wouldn't even manage to hurt a fly.
He had left his patrol spot, but for a good reason, only God knows what would've happened to this girl if he didn't intervene. It seemed like she was about to have a breakdown at any moment, he at least hopes he could change something from that, he leaned back on his chair and stopped speaking, he wanted to wait for the girl to open up a bit before bombarding her with questions, asking her a bunch of questions early on will probably make Willow think that she did something wrong, which wasn't the case.

"No, I, I am not being sure. I am being called Willow."[/color] She declared with a stammer, looking up at him with red puffy eyes. Clearly this was troubling plenty for her psyche. The Havenite was out of her element. Away from home, outside the comfort zone. She was an agoraphobic girl with anxiety issues! Here she was in Sosshi, a market mecca for a myriad gathering of mercantile exchanges between hands. Of course, she wasn't okay!
"Look, please, just...get her outta here so I can take care of the line behind her, yeah?" Asked the stand owner who had his arms folded, his eyebrows furrowed into a distinct peak, mustache flared up to either side of his snout to indicate the annoyance he was experiencing through all of this.
When offered food, Willow perked up, those deep pools of blue tinged with magenta gleaming with stars across them. Her face animating from a distorted grimace of discomfort to one of jubilant ecstasy, "I am having the eagerness to see the food of this town! Please, be taking me to the food domicile!" She shouted, her hands seeking out Charles' own, bouncing on the balls of her feet. All of the motion got her hair flapping like a little wave of wind washed over it, even the sides of her hat joined int he flapping like the wings of a bird seeking flight.
Whisked away from the merchant's row, they meandered their way through the tight alleyways and off to the main street, where they would sit at an open-air cafe. Canopy hanging over to block them from the hot sun. It was a scorcher today, after all, heat lines could be seen wavering from the cobblestone pedway.
A woman with long black hair came to them as they got situated. Flourishing a pitcher of water, she poured two glasses for the both of them. A flick of the wrist and perfectly shaped spheres of ice landed in both glasses. Rather than clumps of cubes, these were better for glasses of water to let the liquid wash over. "Hello to you both, my name is Annabelle. Are you here for a shared meal? Or two separate things? Because we have the Rainbow of Sosshi on special for the season. It's seven types of meat, seven types of vegetables, and sauce between eight types of bread. We top it off with three kinds of olives, surround it with four types of chips. It's a meal and a half for couples to share!" She said, trying to give the pitch on the amazing special they had to offer.
Willow was sitting there, mouth agape sparkles dancing through her eyes. Of course, that was too much for this encounter. Instead, she'd have to settle on something simpler. A Croque monsieur perhaps, she was in the mood for something warm and comforting!

Charles sighed of relief as they made their way to the restaurant, he managed to get out of that sticky situation. The anxiety that the girl named Willow was now gone, having able to catch her interest in buying her food. The girl appeared to be shy, but for some reason he felt glad he managed to make her open up just a bit, he wasn't just a lazy bastard, he had feelings and empathy too.
Arriving at the open-air cafe, taking a seat with the young girl, the waitress arrived to serve them some water. He ran out of the water back there, so he didn't mind more water, especially since it was scorching outside. The waitress was polite to them and asked if they wanted a separate or shared meal. He knew what he was going to say, of course, it was going to be a separate meal, it wasn't surprising that the waitress thought they were in some sort of date, Willow seemed to be around his age. "Two separate meals, thanks." He cleared his throat before speaking to the waitress, they weren't a couple. He just simply had to invite her to eat something otherwise it would've probably ended up in Willow having problems with that merchant, as much as he would've wanted to simply carry on with his day, he simply couldn't let that happen, it will probably end up badly for Willow who didn't seem to be from here. "I'd like some fried eggs, I guess." He spoke with a monotonous voice again, he wasn't hungry at all, it was still really early for him to feel significantly hungry.
After giving his order to the waitress Charles turned to Willow. "So your name is Willow, right?" He recalled she said she is being called Willow before, but wanted to make sure he got her name right. The name seemed a bit familiar, but he didn't think a lot about it and just shrugged it off. Considering the young girl had calmed down he proceeded to ask her another question. "Are you not from here or something?" His monotonous voice was still, but it showed a bit of interest towards the girl. He had those questions in his mind and will like to have them answered if possible. He leaned back on his chair and waited for the food to come alongside with a response from Willow.
Charles also looked at her clothing, it was quite unusual as he previously noted before, this clearly made it look like Willow wasn't from here, was she from a cold place? Or did she decide to wear those clothes because she didn't want people to see her face? She was acting shy and nervous before it was possible she did it because of that. It would've ended up badly if she stayed outside with the heat of the sun she would've probably suffered from heatstroke, having to carry her to a place where she could stay and rest would've been a bigger pain for him. Good thing his quick thinking kicked in and it didn't end up that way. Something this lazy Magic Knight didn't know about himself is that he was quick in analyzing the situations despite not being as experienced as other Magic Knights.

"Right, two meals, you'll have the eggs, fried, sunny side up or sunny side down hun?" Asked the Waitress who then looked to Willow, "I am going to be having the crock mon sewer? I am experiencing the trouble of reading strange languages." She meekly said while biting the inner portions of her cheeks, puffing her face up a bit in shyness.
"Well that's fine you know, not everyone can figure out how to say CROAK MON SEER like that just from reading it. I'll get the orders in after your friend here tells me how he wants it, and then I'll be back with the food when it's ready." Said the Waitress, only leaving after Charles clarified his order. Once the two had some alone time, he was grilling Willow with a few questions that gave her the third degree.
Running her tongue along her lower lip once, her teeth dug into the sides of it, showing she had sharp canines like a vampire without the nature of being a regal and noble bloodsucker. She seemed to shrink away, shoulders coming up to the sides of her face, while her gaze averted to the right, magenta-flecked pools of teal glancing away from the magic knight before her. She seemed to be trying to turtle her way off into her body and get away from the conversation. She was an agoraphobe and the realization she still wasn't back home was apparent to the poor thing.
"I, y-yes. I am hailing from a town called, a town that is being called New Haven. It, it is, uh, it is a rustic town with an austere look. Sorry, I am being unsure whether I should be having casualness or formalness with a magic knight. It is a town being made up of trees, a thicket, a forest, we are seeking expansions to host more people within our canopy." SHe said while fidgeting with her hands, tugging on her fingers as she wrung her digits of one hand and then wrung the others.
A town in the Forsaken Region made from a thicket? That was something any magic knight would know the name of at the least. They were foreigners who sought refuge within The Clover Kingdom and have been making their town grow for the past thirty years. Apparently the current chief sought to get members of his village in tot he magic knights as a sign that New Haven's Havenites were not to be feared in the slightest.
"I am being the Village Chief's second-oldest daughter, Willow Omens."
Post by Charles Constantine✾ on May 9, 2020 1:06:54 GMT -5
"Sunny side up." Charles replied to the waitress soon after she asked him. This made it more noticeable to see that Willow wasn't from around here. Her strange clothes and attitude was a sign of that. She seemed quite shy, but it seemed like he took the right decisions from avoiding such a thing to happen. If anybody of the Black Bulls, especially his Captain hear he did this it's likely they wouldn't believe it.
It appeared to him that the girl in front of him was somewhat nervous, maybe it was because she was in the presence of a Magic Knight? Charles wasn't someone imposing about his status as a Magic Knight, he didn't really care. "New Haven, huh? I've heard of New Haven before, but I have never visited it." Noticing Willow getting more and more nervous due to the fact that she didn't know how to properly talk with a Magic Knight. He understood why she felt nervous, she wasn't from here and he has seen Magic Knights shoving their authority around, especially the ones who were from a noble family. "No need to be formal, at least with me. I'm not like some Magic Knights that go around being imposing about their status." He replied with his usual voice tone, his way of talking was casual. Hoping to give Willow a bit of confidence with the people here. "Oh that's interesting." The young magic knight raised an eyebrow, he has never seen or been in a canopy before, but for some reason, it sounded interesting to him. "Maybe I visit the town one day, if I can." Charles could visit the town, it wouldn't be much of a problem. The main problem is his own laziness if he will actually be willing to dedicate his time to visit the town even if it sounded slightly interesting to him.
"Well, nice to meet you, Willow Omens." Once again the name sounded familiar to him, but he shrugged it off right away. Considering she told him her name. He might as well tell her his name it will only be fair for him to do that. "I'm Charles, Charles Constantine." He sighed and looked at Willow. "Considering I asked you some questions before, I'll let you ask me some questions, whatever you want. Just don't go overboard with it." It was fair him to do that, maybe Willow had an interest in learning more about things around here or the Magic Knights. He wouldn't usually do such a thing, but considering they were waiting for their food and Charles had time to burn, it will be better to answer any questions the pink-haired girl in front of him just for the sake of doing something while he waited for the food to come.
Now Charles didn't consider himself someone interesting, it's more likely other members of the Black Bulls will have more interesting stories. Like Rosalia, she seemed to have gone through stuff and she has been in the Magic Knights for a longer time than him. While Charles was just a lazy guy who still can't figure out how he ended up joining the Magic Knights up to this date. His interaction with Rosalia answered some questions, but it also raised other questions to him.

When their food was brought out her face lit up like a Christmas tree. She looked like she had never seen food before, or at least never partaken of a delicacy as fine as a grilled cheese sandwich with ham, with the cheese on the outside of the sandwich! She leaned to the left, she mosied on over to the right. Angling herself to admire the sandwich from different perspectives of every which way. "This is being a wonderful little picturesque delicacy! I shall be enjoying it post-haste!" She declared while giving a thumbs up to the waitress, a beaming smile upon her face.
"Riiiiiight, well, you enjoy then?" Annabelle said before walking away, sighing to herself as she figured it takes all kinds of clients to keep this job interesting. Oh well, she'll live and learn! At least Willow was a memorable customer.
With Charles speaking to her about New Haven, her eyes gleamed, and her smile went a bit sly, "Coming to New Haven you should be, for a visit! It is having a wonderful rustic feel to it. Once a week there is being a place up at the very top of the canopy where the leaves are revealing themselves to be strange bird-like insects! And they fly from one side of the tree branches to the other! It is a pretty sight to be witnessing!" She really got up in a tizzy and frenzied whenever it came to talking about something she knew well, at least that much was apparent.
Puffing her cheeks up with air, she placed her hands on the table, staring Charles down as he introduced himself, memorizing his face whilst he mentioned that she could ask him any sort of question. What kind of question should she ask? She had to think of something. If she didn't she'd look like a fool! Oh no, he was looking her way, he was expecting some sort of inquisition?! Or was he looking for a casual question like the weather?! Think Willow! Think fast! Think like the wind! No, wait, the wind doesn't think! HURRY UP, GIRL!
"I like to draw a lot! That was not being a question... Are you owning any hobbies yourself, Sir Charles?" She asked while sweat beaded on the back of her neck, not from her clothes, okay, yes from her clothes, but from the anxiety build-up that started to pinprick it's way all over her body. That type of itchy heat you get when standing in front of an expectant auditorium audience!

Charles looked at Willow's face that lit up like a Christmas tree, she seemed to be delighted of the fact she was going to eat something new to her. He saw Willow begin to eat her food, he then turned to his food. Charles wasn't starving or anything. He just did it for the sake of filling a hole, he was probably going to get hungry later anyway. He began to eat from his plate of food, it tasted alright, the eggs well done and seasoned.
The young magic knight raised an eyebrow when. It seemed to him that Willow really liked talking about New Haven, it almost seemed like it was her zone of comfort and was probably why she was acting that way when she found herself in a town full of strangers. It was a normal reaction. The more time it passed the more Charles seemed to learn from Willow, both her personality and what she likes, somewhat. He was learning and he wasn't realizing it. "That's interesting, sounds good for the people who like experiences in the wild. It sounds like something you don't see every day." He said, taking a bite from his food afterward.
"Any hobbies, hmm... There's also no need to call me 'sir' Charles, just Charles is fine." Sir sounded like something it will be given to a real knight, which wasn't his case. He was just a lazy guy who still hasn't figured out how he ended up joining the Magic Knights. He thought to himself, did he have any hobbies, aside from just being lazy? That was a question even Charles wasn't sure about himself. "Well, I have no hobbies in particular. I usually just spend my time reading interesting articles related to magic when I'm bored. Aside from the usual duties of a Magic Knight." He didn't consider himself someone interesting, he didn't do a lot either. Being lazy was the best thing he was at or so he thinks. "Don't you think your clothing is a little bit too warm for this type of weather?" He took another bite from his food and then looked at Willow sweating, it was either because she was still nervous talking to him or her clothing, but he was sure her clothing had something to do with that. Charles showed a bit of concern, he didn't want the poor Willow to end up collapsing from a heat stroke, and having to carry her will be a pain in the ass for someone as lazy as Charles.
Charles went ahead and decided to ask another question simply out of personal curiosity. "So tell me, Willow. Do you have any interest in joining the Magic Knights? There's usually a lot of people who want to join the Magic Knights." He asked the pink that was in front of him. There was a good amount of people out there that wanted to join the Magic Knights but usually ended up failing. Not everyone was able to enter them, did she have such goals and aspirations? Just like the dream he had on joining the Magic Knights in the past? He was just curious if she was one of those people or if she will prefer to live a more laid back life.

"Yes, and, I very much am enjoying being out for once, so that I may be drawing new places I am visiting. It is being excused for myself to visit any new place, and to be discomforting my general area." She said in a break from her food, enjoying her meal intermittently, not stuffing her face and scarfing it down, that would be a waste of a savored meal after all. "I am having enjoyment for this meal." She said softly while looking at Charles, who had told her to not call him 'Sir' though she would continue to do so as she was a polite little thing like that.
"M-My attire? It..." She trailed off, eyes darting toward the cafe while she looked for words to excuse it all, "It is being like armor for a proper knight. Clad in layers upon layers for being protected against my anxiousness. I am seeking to avoid having the attacks of panic." She told him the truth on reflex, all while trying to come up with a simplistic lie. Poor thing was a wreck and three halves it seemed.
"I have never considered being a magic knight, though my parents are advocating I seek out the profession for the purpose of being a great beacon of hope for New Haven. By becoming a knight, we can be showing we are acceptable to the public of the Clover Kingdom." She said while poking her index fingers together.
While they enjoyed their meal and spoke to one another, she'd reveal a bit more about herself, why she got into art, and what she liked to draw: landscapes, people, mana beasts, maps for dungeons. Even though she had never really been out of New Haven she had the desire to do all of these things, it would be the big chance she needed to get out of her comfort zone and into being a properly situated person. She also revealed she worked mainly with watercolors and her medium of paint was coffee grounds and beans.
It was during their conversation the check was brought to them, and Willow tried to make heads and tails of it. "We are having to pay for food? In New Haven, most people are giving me food, though I am unsure of what the process is." Was she used to being given handouts because of her status and just didn't realize it?

"I see. Well, there's good places that you can visit here." Charles replied, having a bit of a hard time understanding what Willow was saying. Either way, it seemed like Willow enjoyed drawing. So far it seemed like he was able to gain some of Willow's trust. Considering she didn't feel as anxious when it came to talking to him than before. He wasn't completely sure, but the atmosphere sure felt better compared to when they first arrived at the restaurant. "It's nice that you're enjoying this meal."
"Eh? Well, I'm a Magic Knight and I haven't seen a person with a lot of armor. Sure, armor can help, but wearing a lot isn't good even though it provides you with protection it also makes you slower." He said a bit confused at first, but getting a grasp of the situation after Willow said the truth to him. "Does it really help you with anxiety? When I first saw you I was more concerned that you will probably end up collapsing from the heat and I would have to end up carrying you to a place where you could be treated." Charles replied, saying it with a slightly more annoyed tone towards the end. Certainly carrying her would've been annoying, at least he was able to react quickly and bring her to this restaurant where he is a casual and sort of an entertaining talk with Willow. It was better than nothing.
"I'm not completely sure on how and why I ended up in the Magic Knights until now, but it's a nice place. Some people can be nice, while some not too nice people who want to feel superior to everyone else. It has its pros and cons like everything, I guess." He replied in an honest way. Charles didn't seem to hold back this time. "That's a good enough reason. Is there any squad in specific that you wish to join?" Charles raised an eyebrow, curious on which squad someone like Willow will be interested in joining.
From what Charles had deduced it seemed like Willow had trouble with talking to new people and being in new places. She seemed like someone who had a lot of interests, as she kept talking to him about what she liked. She will probably be able to do well in Magic Knight Squad, but for some reason, it bothered him of the possibility of someone picking on because she's too shy. Charles didn't completely understand why he felt like that, but Willow seemed like someone who had goals and dreams in her life.
Charles didn't even have any at this point, the things he thought of in the past. Which he now considers a foolish dream, maybe he didn't want to see this girl who was around his age to have her dreams destroyed by a bunch of people who think they are superior without no valid reason. This was one of the very few times where Charles showed any sort of emotion, but it also meant he was beyond a lazy bastard who did his job just for the sake of earning money.
"Yeah, don't worry. I'll pay for it. I said I was going to pay for the food before we got here." This surprised Charles. The fact that Willow was given free food it seemed nice for people to give you free food. This reminded him of that one time Rosalia paid for his meal which was nice. "Must be nice having people give you free food all the time, no? It reminds me of the time one of my seniors inside the Black Bulls paid for my food when we first met in a restaurant it was nice." He thought for a moment that maybe she was given free food because she was the daughter of Village's Chief. It was the only logical explanation he had in mind. Free food was always nice especially for someone like Charles who is lazy and likes eating good food.

She nodded, she nodded with a ferocious speed that made her head spin and those pigtails bounce like little waves of rope you'd see someone attempting to exercise with at the gym. "Yes! The layers are being helpful. The further from home I am being, the more anxious I am told I am being. Simply by being of the owning them and adorning them, I am feeling much more at ease." She commented while looking away with a nervous embarrassment radiating from her blushing face, she didn't like that she did this, but she was still only able to be out here with this much on, one could only scarce imagine how much she would wear in a place like Raque.
He wasn't wrong, she did struggle with the heat, usually relying on some bit of her water magic to remain hydrated, or to cool down with a fresh splash of cold water to the face, but was it really that bad?
"A specific squad? I am having the thought between two squads really. I have had encounters with people from the Azure Deer, and they are being hopeful in seeing me 'return one day'. Whatever that is meaning. And now the Black Bulls, because Sir Charles is being very nice." She said with the sweetest most sincere smile
It was during this time that he commented on her getting free food. "Oh, no, that is being located away from the truth! I am doing many things around New Haven for food, I am one of the best dancers of the village, and I am having much knowledge of local mana beast types. Helping out the people I am doing regularly." She declared with a puff of air out from her nostrils as she put a hand over her chest confidently. "Though sometimes, the big elite warriors of the town just ask to pet my head for good luck." She said while poking her index fingers together. WC: 331 3064

Charles started to understand why Willow was wearing those type of clothing under her, despite her explanation he still believed that it was likely she will end up collapsing due to the amount of heat her clothing accumulated. He couldn't see himself all those layers of clothing, he will end up ripping them off. "..If they help you, then that's nice. I assume you will get used to this place that you wouldn't have to wear all of that at some point." He noticed Willow's embarrassment, but he didn't show a lot of care towards it, but he could at least understand or have an idea of why she acting that way.
As they kept talking, Charles was surprised at what Willow just said. Mentioning that she was interested in joining two squads, one of them to his surprise was the Black Bulls. Willow wasn't someone from around here, so you could say she could fall into the category of the Black Bulls as a squad of misfits, but he didn't think about it a lot. Considering she had an interest in recollecting information he expected her to want to join a squad like the Azure Deers or Coral Peacocks. Alongside with that comment, she commented on how Sir Charles was being nice to him, he told her to not call him Sir Charles previously, but he had never been told such nice words before that he didn't even care. Charles himself didn't even consider himself a nice person, just someone trying to do the right thing. He did this with the intention of trying to prevent Willow from creating some sort of commotion which could be a pain for him to deal with. Nonetheless, she was right, despite his lazy attitude, there was niceness inside him. "Heh.. I wish you luck if you are planning on taking the Magic Knight Exams." He replied in a more nice way this time, hoping that Willow could enter the Magic Knights if that's what she so desired. Charles didn't have a lot to say at that moment, mainly because he was never expecting for someone to say he is nice.
"Oh that explains it. You must be very good at what you do if people do that for you." It appeared that Willow was just an innocent girl with good intentions and want to make the Kingdom a better place. The thought of someone like a noble to come up and insult her just for her status annoyed him. This happened to him many years ago and the thought of that happening to someone else really bothered him.
Some time passed, after paying the bill Charles knew he already wasted too much time and he had to head back to the Headquarters otherwise it was likely he will get yelled at. To his own surprise, he had a small amount of enjoyment talking with her and getting to know her. She was more than just a shy and nervous girl, she had goals and dreams she wanted to accomplish. Charles stood up from the chair and stretched his arms. "Well, I have to go now. If I don't get back to the Headquarters the Captain isn't going to like it..." He said now with a more boring voice, but he didn't want to get yelled by the time he is back.
As he stood up and walked up to Willow petting her head in a gentle way. "You say the big elite warriors of your town do this for good luck? I'm not a big elite warrior, but I wish you luck with your goals." He gave her a gentle smile, something uncommon of Charles. He probably wanted to give the pink-haired girl the confidence he could never give himself and clear any of her self-doubts.
Eventually, he walked off the table they both spent their time. Waving at her once before leaving the restaurant where they spent their time. This day was an unexpected day for Charles's life as a Magic Knight, but for him, it felt less boring than the other days which was something he appreciated even though he didn't really show it.
