Victoria sat silently in Magnus' carriage as it flew through the air, making its way towards the Kikka. She was mentally reviewing the details of the mission that the pair of them had accepted. One of the local noblemen had decided to cut down a massive pine tree to decorate to show off the commoner citizens in his town. The issue was that the forest that he wanted to take the pine tree from was home to some rather strange form of mutated squirrels that were known to react viciously towards anyone who attempted to take their home from them; attacking in mass swarms. These rodents were also unnaturally intelligent as well capable of being coordinated by a leader of their species for greater efficiency. The easier solution in her opinion would have been to simply choose a less dangerous location for his tree but the nobleman had been insistent on wanting this particular pine; probably to show off his wealth. It was foolish and a waste of resources in her opinion but one that she would take advantage of in order to achieve more prestige.
"I must say, Sir Magnus, this is an exquisite carriage. Well-crafted with what I'm assuming to be spatial runes on the inside. May I ask where you got it from?" she stated, picking up a biscuit from one of the plates nearby and taking a bite. When she and Magnus had originally elected to take this mission, she had planned for the pair to ride down in one of her carriages until Magnus had volunteered to use his newly acquired one. She had been confused as she watched him reach down to his breast pocket, removing a small trinket in the shape of a carriage and setting it down watching in astonishment as it quickly swelled in size with six winged horses forming at the front. Stepping through the liquid barrier, Victoria found herself becoming even more impressed with this magic item as the inside was far larger than she had initially thought; large enough to comfortably fit 3 people by her estimates, and came fully stocked with numerous different meals and beverages for the passengers to enjoy.
After some small conversation where Victoria showed her own trinket that she had recently purchased, the pair arrived outside the mansion of the nobleman. Stepping out of the carriage, the pair were greeted by the nobleman stepping out from his mansion with the aid of a jeweled walking cane and a stern look on his face. He was an older gentleman, looking to be in his late 60s with a portly build, his clothing straining somewhat to keep to his body. He had was mostly bald with what little hair he had stylized into two tufts flaring out from behind his ears. "You two are the magic knights I hired then? It's about time that you've gotten here, what took you so long?" he said in a hrumphed tone before continuing on, not giving either of them a chance to speak. "You'll be following Jeffery and the rest of the workers to the forest and making sure that My tree is returned safe and whole otherwise your captain will be hearing from me about your incompetence. I specifically hired the Blue Roses over the Purple Orcas as I expect you all to be more reliable, though I was under the impression that only females could join the squad" he mumbled the last part, side-eyeing Magnus' rather large frame. "In any case, do hurry back as I don't have all day to wait" he ended with another humph, turning around and slowly making his way inside leaving the two magic knights alone with the head butler and the crew of tree-cutters.
"Well. I feel it prudent that we get started and make our way to the forest. We'll be following behind you all if that's fine with you." she said in a bland tone, her face a blank mask so as to not reveal her inner thoughts. It wouldn't do for her to make a scene and embarrass herself or be called unprofessional simply because her employer had been rude. There were other ways for her to be able to make her displeasure at his behavior known and she would be employing them once they returned to headquarters. For now, though, she would be focused on the mission, aiming to finish it as soon as possible. The workers nodded at her words, quickly bringing out a wagon filled with the necessary supplies as she re-entered into Magnus' carriage as the group took off towards the forest. "I plan to speak with Captain Lilygate when we return to see if I can get that man barred from requesting missions from at least our squad. There was absolutely no reason for him to address us in such a disrespectful manner and it speaks poorly on his upbringing if this is how he speaks to others." she ranted to Magnus as she took an angry sip from her teacup before calming herself.
The trip to the forest was rather short, only taking about 10 minutes before they arrived. As she exited out, Victoria was immediately on alert. She didn't spot any creatures which set her on edge, combined with how silent the surroundings were. The workers immediately moved to] the tree, using their magic to begin cutting it down. "I wonder when the creatures will appear?"

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus flew alongside Victoria in his flying carriage, occasionally sipping from his cup of tea while making idle conversation. His ears perked up at the mention of his carriage, as Fantelo slept away in his lap. "Why thank you, Lady Victoria, I appreciate it," Magnus said taking another sip of his tea from its cup before placing it back down on the saucer, which rested atop a mahogany table to the right of his comfortable lounge chair. "Your assumptions are correct, as to where I got it from well, let's just say a very unique market in the Forsaken Region." Though Magnus didn't mind the fact that he had got the item from the Black Market, especially when it was legally purchased, and gathered by explorers in the ruin who decided to take things there just because of the possibility of more buyers, Magnus didn't like speaking about it aloud. As to why, well it was simple, the very mention of the black market in the open was taboo, and most nobles thought such markets beneath him or viewed them with disgust. Magnus, however, had been well-traveled enough to know that even though the Black Market could at times have very shady dealing and be incredibly dangerous, it also had the opposite available and in spades, much like where he went to for and how got his carriage. Magnus was happy to see others besides himself got enjoyment and comfort out of his carriage, especially with the inside having just shy of 20-feet in size all around. He glanced out of the window to the right of him as the carriage began to fly over their destination. He saw the buildings coming into view and recognized the architecture.
Magnus was then greeted with a surprise of Victoria having a trinket she had recently purchased. Magnus got the same feel from the trinket as he did from his own that rested on his chest, a magical relic. Had Victoria come into possession of a relic herself? More importantly, did she realize it was one? Magnus figured he could ask the questions later as he made his way out of the carriage first, to help Victoria out, extending his hand to help her get down. Upon meeting the nobleman he found he didn't really care for him, not one bit. The man was brash and rude, Magnus thought him uncouth but Magnus himself kept a stoic demeanor and appearance about him, not even a twitch of an eye, or movement of his lips, he stood just as he had before the nobleman had spoken without even giving them a chance to speak. However, what truly aggravated Magnus even though he didn't let it show, was the simple fact that he stated they were late when Magnus knew for a fact from the sun's position alone that both he and Victoria were at least half an hour early. The man's clothing was appalling as it didn't seem to fit him, and Magnus desperately wanted to direct him to a good tailor, but he disregarded such notions thinking that the portly man was better off looking on the outside just as he did on the inside.
Though Magnus did like that the man thought the Blue Roses were more reliable he couldn't help but feel a bit of disgust in the man mumbling toward him. He quickly got the notion that this man wanted the Blue Rose simply because they were only female members for rather perverse thoughts. Though this agitated Magnus, he didn't let it show, he simply stood by Victoria as she took charge. "Do lead the way if you don't mind, don't worry we'll make sure to protect you," Magnus said to the man's servants, before moving back to his carriage and holding the door open for Victoria to get in.
During their short trip to the tree, Magnus listened to Victoria's musing, "there, there Victoria, there are many men like him, don't let them get under your skin. Though I do agree, if this behavior continues I'll be sure to put in the suggestion alongside you. I'd hate for anybody else to have to be treated so rudely." Magnus stated grabbing a cookie and eating it as he had pet Fantelo with his free hand before mumbling "the nerve of him saying we're late," Magnus said in a disgruntled voice before the carriage came to a halt. Getting out of the carriage the same as before, Magnus took in his surroundings.
Much like Victoria, Magnus was immediately on alert as well, he pulled out his magical paintbrush wand from the front pocket of his grimoires satchel, and quickly began to draw. Colors of green, blues, oranges, and whites all made an appearance as he drew on the air in front of him, within moments the visage of 3 wolves had been drawn before he breathed life into them with his mana, then he'd follow up with another picture but this time they took the visage of 3 young swans. Magnus would muse out the words "Life Art: Tranquil Lupine, Vibrant Cygnets." Be on guard, if anything should come our way, I'll direct my golems to take care of it, you all focus on cutting down the tree, fear not as we'll protect you, but don't be brave or foolish if anything should happen simply scream out for help and we shall come post·haste"

The paintbrushes are ornate in design, with swirls of small patterns and silver in color. They have purple bristles that fade into white at their tips. Nothing is too special about these paintbrushes on their own except they are sturdy and have no need for a palette as they are capable of producing any color of paint on their own with a small infusion of mana. These paintbrushes were a gift to Magnus from his mother when he was younger and as such he cherishes them dearly but also uses them for his magic. However, as they are a magical set, they all share the same durability, thus if his weapon was to break even if it was just one paint brush due to an attack capable of destroying a junior rank weapon all of them would break. Outside of the fact that they can release paint, these weapons are nothing more than blunt objects. As such they cannot be used to stab or pierce without the usage of a spell or its ability. A masterfully crafted two-inch long white gold pin in the shape of a paintbrush in the middle of the handle lays a very rare unique sapphire blue moonstone.
At the origins of house Aurelius being recognised as nobles a set of eight unique pins were made, each pin was designed with a specific artistic or scholarly pursuit in mind and each having a differing type or rare gem or variant of a semi-precious gem inlayed on it somewhere. One was then given to each elder of the house.
The way they decided who would wear which pin was dependant on the pursuit that aligned with each pin. This meant the elder who found beauty in the craft of calligraphy would be given the pin which had the scroll and quill whereas the elder who found beauty in gardening would wear the pin-shaped like a rose in full bloom.
As an elder retired they would pass the pin to their successor. Who would then take on the responsibilities of every elder that wore the pin before them. It is believed that every elder on their final day of wearing the pin puts a slither of their mana into it so they might be able to guide those that come after them. Some elders have said they have felt the presence of their ancestors from the pin especially during times of great turmoil or stress.
They've said as they become more attuned with their craft and the understanding of their duties the pin has given them a strength they didn't know they otherwise possessed. It is because of this these pins are seen as more than just a status symbol but something to be proud of and protected so that the future of the family can continue in its pursuit to serve those that would require their services.

Victoria appreciated Magnus trying to calm her down from the noble's words earlier. It was shameful of her to let his idiocy affect her this much that she would embarrass herself like this in front of another noble even if it was from someone that she considered an acquaintance like Magnus. "Your right Sir Magnus. I apologize for my uncouthness. It's unbecoming of a lady of my standing to act in such a manner." she stated, a small blush appearing on her face before she decided to change the subject. "So you say that you purchased this carriage at the black market? That is also where I happened to get my trinket as well. It had some magical abilities as well -mainly the ability to call up a defensive wall of plant roots from the ground as well as some restraining capabilities. It helped to cover some of the blindspots left in my magic quite nicely even if it did happen to cost a pretty penny." she said, lifting up said trinket and admiring it.
Once they arrived at the site, Magnus immediately got to work with pulling out his paintbrush and casting 2 golem spells in quick order. She was always delighted to get to see Magnus' using his magic as it was such a unique and visibly beautiful sight to watch. After casting his spell, he assured the workers that they would be ready to protect them from any dangers coming their way. "Sir Magnus is correct. Please focus on cutting down the tree and leave any attackers to us. Have faith in our abilities." Victoria said with a gentle smile, her grimoire floating in the air beside her as her eyes darted around looking for any sign of movement. It was lucky that she was so alert as the sound of rustling leaves drew her attention upwards just in time to see a group of 8 rather large and grotesque squirrels and 1 larger squirrel eyeing them with hate in their eyes before leaping down, a pair of the smaller ones aiming for herself and Magnus while the other 4 aimed to attack the workers who let out a squeal of fear at the site.
"Nature's Grace!" she shouted, casting a chain of spells as her foot tapped on the ground in rapid succession. 2 vine barriers appeared, 1 wrapping itself around her while the other protected the workers as the squirrels crashed into the roots, angrily slashing and clawing at them. This gave Victoria the time that she needed to cast more spells to follow up against them, trusting in Magnus to be able to deal with his rodents and help her. "Plant magic: Ravaging Rafflesia! Constraining Creeper!" she shouted, casting 2 spells at once this time. She could feel a chunk of her magic reserves emptying but it was worth it as she watched 5 golems twist themselves into reality before 2 moved to deal with the two squirrels attacking her while the other 3 moved towards the group of 4 as multiple wisteria vines quickly bound around the larger group, restricting them and slowing them down allowing her babies to make quick work of them, biting and tearing them apart.
The larger squirrel began to angrily chitter at that, quickly running down the tree it had been sitting in and making a beeline towards Magnus as it seemed to deem him to be the greater threat. "Magnus! The boss is heading your way!" she called out in warning as she killed another squirrel though she had lost one of the golems in the group of 3. Noting that her pair had finished off the two squirrels that had attacked her, she directed them to the other group as she moved to stand in front of the frightened workers who had taken to using the wagon they had brought as a shield. She had no worries that they would be able to make their way through her golems and out of her restraints; especially given that her vines were currently sapping them of their mana and feeding it back to her, but as just in case she wanted to make sure that they remained unharmed. After all, they were needed to cut down the tree as Victoria wouldn't be doing it herself and she didn't want to hear from the obnoxious lord about how they had gotten his workers killed.
Once the squirrels were dealt with, Victoria instructed the workers to continue their previous efforts to cut down the tree -a pair of her golems keeping watch as they began to hastily saw at the base- while she moved forward to inspect one of the squirrel corpses with another of her golems acting as a guard, curious about how they came to be. It was clear that it had mutated from something and she had heard rumors about R.O.U.S; rodents of unusual size, in this region of Kikka but this would be her first time seeing it. "How curious. Have you ever seen anything like this Sir Magnus? she asked, turning to look at the older gentleman, noting any injuries that he may have sustained from the battle. She was tempted to take one of the corpses to add her to magic collection but thought better of it. For her wraiths to function, it highly depended on the state of the body and she hadn't really been holding back when she directed her babies to attack, ripping apart each of the rodents whenever they could. It would be far too much effort to put them back together when she could simply find more appropriate bodies to serve her purposes.
After that bit of excitement, the ride back to the mansion was quiet and uneventful. It seemed as if the creatures had gotten the message that this was not a battle that they would win and simply decided to accept the loss and slink back to their den. Victoria didn't mind as it made things easier for her and after 10 minutes they made it to the mansion where the nobleman walked out of his mansion, his butler giving him a breakdown of the events as he walked towards them. Victoria mentally prepared herself to deal with his criticisms again and he didn't disappoint her one bit. "I see you managed to make it back in one piece and didn't damage my tree nor my wagon. Good, good. I suppose that man was useful for something after all." he said, chuckling to himself as if what he had said was funny. Victoria noted that he didn't seem to care one bit that his workers had been in danger but Victoria hadn't expected him to have a shred of empathy towards anyone, to begin with so she wasn't surprised. "Your pay will be sent to your captain and I'll be sure to tell her that you managed to accomplish your task to an adequate level. Now if there's nothing else, you may be off." he stated, waving them off dismissively as he turned around and headed back inside, his butler bowing to them with an apologetic look on his face. "Well this was certainly an experience." Victoria stated before turning to Magnus and thanking him for joining her on this mission before the pair re-entered his carriage and made their way back to the squad. She still had to report about the nobleman's behavior after all.

Magnus nodded to Victoria, he could understand the young women's feelings even though he wasn't a woman himself. However, he did know what it was like to be objectified, and he also knew what it was like to be looked at because he was different. Even know the nobles words dancer in his mind, Magnus was well aware of the rumors that had circulated because of his joining Blue Rose, scandals of womanizing and bribes, rumors of him being there just to be a womanizers' and gawk at them, even though such rumors were far from the truth. He was living out his daughters dream in her memory, he had no time to let people get to him or to allow them to live in his mind rent free. He knew all to well that respect was earned not freely given and it was this notion that kept him going forward and striving for betterment, he wouldn't let small words get to him, especially by a man he could pummel in mere seconds. Nor would he allow such words to plague Victoria's mind if he could help it.
Magnus handed her cup of soothing tea from the table of the carriage as Victoria spoke, "Being a lady has nothing to do with it, you're human Lady Victoria, emotions swell and twist, if you ask me you venting is perfectly healthy, and you had the tact to wait until we were alone to do so. You never have to feel as though you have to hide such emotions from me, however, I wouldn't allow such a small minded man to take up anymore room in your mind than necessary." Magnus stated in a fatherly tone as he took a sip from his own cup of tea, the carriage was now on the ground not being flown, simply because Magnus willed it too and also to allow them to stick close to the workmen, however, he did miss the view of the sky and ground below as he flew in the sky in comfort.
He continued on with the casual conversation with Victoria, to her comment about the black market, Magnus would simply give a nod especially considering they were alone. "Interesting its a very beautiful trinket. Reminds me of mine," Magnus said he glanced down at the relic pinned to his suit jacket. An Aurelius family relic that had been passed down from generation to generation, one of 8. He had yet to unlock the secrets of it, but he felt as though he was slowly inching closer to discovering what lay dormant within the trinket. "Oh, I don't doubt it caused a large sum, it does, however, bring me joy to know that it will help you improve your prowess in battle." Magnus said as he took another sip of his tea with a smile, before the carriage came to a halt. Upon stepping out Magnus saw a thicket of trees, and one with a large canopy of leaves, figuring that was the tree that.
Magnus nodded to the workers as Victoria finished speaking, however, as he looked around the workers still seemed hesitant to move. Rather it was out of fear or because they truly didn't have faith in the two magic knights mattered not, what mattered know was time and action and they were already off to falling a bit behind with the workers stalling. "You heard the Lady, get a move on!!!" Magnus bellowed, shocking the workers out of their residual fear of the rodents and instead placing it on him, as such the woodworkers pulled out their saws, and cast meager spells of their own to create axes, and tree holders.
Magnus eye glanced around taking in the sight of his surroundings, after he had cast his spells. "Protect the workers," was the command that Magnus gave the golems, the swans and wolves would begin to circle around the workers, creating a perimeter of safety. The sound of rustling leaves dancer within his ears Magnus turned his attention in the same direction Victoria to see the aforementioned rodents starring back him with their beady eyes and mangled fur. One in particular was at least twice the size of the others. He figured that one had to be the boss, but it never ceased to amaze him of what strange things mana could do to ordinarily creatures. Not to mention the psychological effects that mana had on them that made them increasingly dangerous. However, Magnus wasn't in the habit of killing innocent creatures, and so far these rodents had done nothing but protect their territory, Magnus couldn't fault them for that. As such he made sure to go easy on the creatures.
Following Victoria's lead as she sprung into action Magnus, he began to draw by spinning his paintbrush in one hand in a circular motion using his index finger and thumb, he flowed mana through the brush and paint as he did so, the paint pooled from the brush in the color of silver, gold hue's of blue and a light grey color, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give his drawing detail, willing his mana to create the visage of what he wanted. In doing so Magnus created a large ornate war hammer approximately 3 meters long. The hammerhead itself on the hammer was 1 meter long and has spikes on the end of it. "Paint Magic: Splash Art!" Magnus bellowed, swinging the large warm hammers blunt end toward the two rodents that got caught in Victoria's vines of whom which they quickly began to tare apart with moderate ease. Magnus used this opportunity to knock the two rodents to the side, using the knockback from paint that spilled from the hammers end to push the rodents to the side and incapacitate them. "Attack the squirrels," Magnus stated to his golems who quickly sprung into action as Victoria had summoned two golems of her own.
Upon hearing Victoria's warning, Magnus turned his attention to the boss, as squawks and squeals of pain could be heard coming from the rodents. Magnus swung his hammer toward the boss causing it to roll its body and flip forward in an effort to dodge to the side, however, as Victoria's two golems took out 2 of the squirrels and Magnus's wolves bit into the hide of the others, pressed down onto the rodents to pin them in place, wrapping there maws around some's head, and his swans wrapping their long necks around the squirrels to bind them, two other swan golems of his grabbed a single rodent each lifting them into the air as they wiggled and squirmed around desperately trying to get out of their grasp, screeching audibly as they thought it was their end. Finally the boss of which seemed to have some above average intelligence, starred down Magnus and Victoria, and could clearly see both of them were at the read. Magnus clutched his large war hammer in both hands, turning the flat end toward himself and the pointed toward the Don squirrel. It seemed to get the point and almost as if it was a human it stood on its two hind legs, raising its hands above its hand before bellowing out with a loud squawk. The other squirrels seemed to cease their aggression and those that could run did so toward the boss as it quite literally turned tail and ran.
Magnus commanded his golems to let the other rodents, at least the ones that hadn't already been knocked out, and the now released ones simply trotted away with their leader. Magnus breathed a sigh of relief and though he released the hold on the spell that created his war hammer, he still allowed the golems to stay, just in case this was some form of trap in order for them to let their guard down. However, to his dismay Victoria's golems had killed one of the squirrels and as such he felt it a waste for the corpse to go to waste without a little inspection, "many times before, Lady Victoria." Magnus stated as he then commanded his golems to burry the rodent corpse out of sight, before speaking to Victoria again "It's not uncommon for creatures to be mutated by mana, especially in areas where large influxes of it happens. Often times it can make them much more aggressive." Magnus said, as he turned his attention back to the workers.
Once they were done, Magnus and Victoria hopped back in his carriage, they road speaking only of small formalities, and nuisances until they got back to the estate of the local lord. Magnus let the obese mans words bounce off of him as if they were nothing, choosing not to entertain the mans ignorance. As they were waved off, Magnus tipped his head to the workers and the Butler. The Butler of whom made sure to apologies before they left, Magnus instead simply gave the man a card that had his name and a way to contact him on it, he simply stated to the man that if he ever got tired of his employer he could always apply to work under the Aurelius family.
As they flew in the carriage back to the Blue Rose base Victoria and Magnus once again spoke. "Indeed it was Lady Victoria, however, I doubt it'll be the last one like this. Especially when it comes to dealing with rodents." However, in his last sentence Magnus meant not just the squirrels they had defeated and much like Victoria, Magnus had a report to write up and a complaint to file.
