Given the tragic events that the world has faced over the last several years, Thaddeus had decided to try and spread the good word of the Church of Clover to the people. Perhaps, if he could restore some faith within The Four Deities, people could rise up in the name of the Church and help protect the Clover Kingdom from harm. That had been his intention anyways. Now one might ask how it is that he plans to spread the word of the Church of Clover and thankfully there is quite an easy answer behind this. With the permission of his family elder, who just so happens to be the Cardinal of the Church of Gnome, Thaddeus would be sent out to the Forsaken Realm to interact with the smaller communities and teach the inhabitants what the church could mean for them.
It is thanks to this that Thaddeus had found himself in one of the several smaller settlements of the Forsaken Realm. From what he had heard, this region had been a rather dangerous one overall. Having been located on the farthest reaches of the kingdom and an exceedingly far distance from the Royal Capital, this area had been filled with beasts and bandits alike. If there was anyone that had needed the assistance of faith than it would have been the people that were all the way out here. The only major question that one would really have now was how had he planned on getting the people of this sleepy little town to develop an interest in what he had to say?
Well fortunately Thaddeus had a bit of an idea, albeit it might not have been the brightest of one. Rather than set up a box on the side of the road to attempt to preach from, Thaddeus would go about things in a way that many had not been expecting. He would head to an empty space just outside of the outskirts of the town and begin to speak. "In the name of the Church of Gnome, I request thy assistance... now rise!" Calling upon the powers dwelling within his grimoire, Thaddeus would begin to raise his right hand in a rather dramatic fashion and would shout aloud a single word: "Oread!" Upon doing so, the carbon matter from just ahead of him would begin to shift and shape itself into a four meter tall carbon golem! Naturally this was something that many of the quiet townsfolk hadn't quite been expecting and their attention had been drawn to the golem that had now stood before them. Some of them had seemed a tad frightened but others payed it no mind. The children in the area that had bared witness to the event had seemed rather amazed, given that this was the first time that they had seen such a thing.
Having more or less drawn the attention of some of the passerby's, Thaddeus would mentally command the carbon golem to pick him up and place him upon its shoulder. Once the golem had followed suit with its directions, the duo would begin to draw closer into the town while Thaddeus would speak to the towns inhabitants. "Good people of the Forsaken Realm! My name is Thaddeus Wilhelm and I am a Deacon of the Church of Gnome. If you would please lend me your ears, I would very much like to speak with you about the Church of Clover and what the Church itself could mean for you."
Unsurprisingly, just about each of the adults had decided to turn their attention away from the Deacon as he had gone on to mention the Church of Clover. They hadn't cared much for the Church and didn't exactly believe that there was any benefit to be gained from it, given the events that had transpired over the last several years with the Diamond War. Even those that had initially been intimidated by the carbon golem had chosen to ignore Thaddeus. They didn't have any reason to believe that a Deacon of the Church of Clover would harm them in any way and as such, they had simply returned back to the tasks at hand. The only ones that had shown any interest in the Deacon had been the children in the area and that was simply due to the fact that his golem had caught their fancy. Already things were off to a rough start. "Well... I certainly wasn't expecting for things to turn out this way so quickly..." These last words had been mumbled from under his breath but it was entirely possible that anyone that had been close enough would have heard them.

Today Eliza awoke to some news of being assigned to another mission this time she wasn’t being told last minute and she had time to actually enjoy the stroll to the Forsaken region. The place she actually grew up in and trained in most of her life, it was filled with danger and thugs but beyond that to Eliza it fit her whole feeling. It was a place where if you didn’t have the strength to defend yourself or against others you would lose whatever you had. It also meant that those in charge of this area needed to be strong and firm with their guidance and rules which is why it seemed to change hands so often and tended to be overlooked in general by most higher ups.
Brushing aside the annoyance that even with all the strength of those in higher positions then her that there is still this much grief and strive between the classes and regions, Eliza made her way to the meeting place as she read over what the mission for the day was suppose to be. It looked like she had been assigned to guard a follower of some sorts of the Church of Clover, a Thaddeus Wilhelm. “Hmm that is a family name I haven’t heard much about lately.” Eliza said to herself as she made her way, it had been sometime since she had honestly heard anything about the Wilhelm family as they seemed to be a bit more recluse then originally thought though there were still some out and about but not as much in the past.
It didn’t take long for Eliza to show up to the village they would be posted at for most of the day and it didn’t take as long to find the person she was suppose to be guarding as said person stood on top of a large 4 meter golem preaching the good word to any and all that could hear or see him. “A bit showy and not sure summoning a massive golem is going to put these people at ease.” Eliza sighed to herself as she moved through the small crowd that had started to gather more to look at the golem then listen to the church member, even as she grew closer she noticed that most people as soon as they heard it was someone from the church began to disperse from the area.
“Oi! Priest, Father, Whatever they call you in your church.” Eliza called out as she stood next to the golem. “Come down here you’re going to scare your flock away.” She continued as she gestured to her mantle showing she was a member of the Magic Knight Squad the Golden Dawn. “Have him chill in the back I’ll make sure none of these frail folk get at ya.” She jested in good nature knowing how the people here interacted with each other and drawing some small chuckles from those that stayed around.
If Thaddeus chose to come down off his golem she would introduce herself with a hand outreached, “Hello I am Eliza Jaegar, a Member of the Golden Dawn. Here to guard ya from any danger anyone would cause ya.” She said with a smile her stature and the way she carried herself showed she was quite confident that she could deal with anyone here without even the use of magic.

Although it would disappoint him to have to admit it, his golem had indeed been intimidating some of the folk that had resided within this quaint little town. Scaring off possible converts wasn't something that he had aimed to do while out here.. If anything, he had simply wished to show them the strength that was willing to protect them. Perhaps he had come on a little strong here though. If the flock of people that had decided to disregard his actions had been any indicator, he was going to need to approach this matter in a different manner. The only question now was how was he going to do as much?
Just as this thought had begun to cross his mind, a voice would begin to call out to him from below. Not having taken notice of the person beforehand, Thaddeus would turn his gaze downward and towards its source. What had stood beneath his golem had been nothing more than an exceptional beauty. A muscle bound individual who had stood at about six foot something and had the most violet eyes that he had ever seen. If there was ever to be a specimen of such fascination for a Deacon of the Church of Gnome, this was to be it. Such thoughts were to be disregarded in the Deacons mind though and as such, he would put them out of mind.
Rather than allow for this woman to remain unspoken to, Thaddeus would mentally command for the golem to place him down on the ground. Once that had been done, he would offer the woman a soft smile before turning his gaze to the children that had begun to surround the golem itself. "Hello there children. It is nice to meet you. I was hoping to speak with your families about something important but it looks as though I am going to be busy for a bit. If you would like, you can go ahead and have fun with Oread. I promise that he doesn't bite." A soft chuckle would than escape from his lips as he would command the golem to step off to the side with the children. "Be sure to look after them Oread." Obviously the golem itself hadn't had any semblance of sentience as of yet but it didn't hurt to allow the children to enjoy the creature.
Although he wouldn't remove his gaze from the golem and the children that had been moving off to the side, there had been a reason for this. He was going to need to maintain watch over the small group so as to determine what actions to have the golem to take to make the children happy. That didn't mean that he wasn't focused on the newcomer however. "Miss Jaeger, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I know that it must seem odd to hear this but I actually have some family within your squad. You might even know them. Lustian Wilhelm and Dante Wilhelm."
Despite being from an Upper Noble family, Thaddeus had devoted most of his life to the Church of Clover. He hadn't cared much for the ways of the nobility and as such, he honestly couldn't recall where he had known the Jaeger family name from. It likely wasn't all that important though, if he wasn't able to recall such vital information. After all, this woman had been a member of the Golden Dawn. That was no simple feat. If she claims to have been sent here to watch after him than she had assuredly been telling the truth. Even if he hadn't been aware of the fact that the church had sent someone to watch over him initially. "In truth, I hadn't known that you were being sent to watch over me. I apologize for not having come to found you earlier. I do appreciate the fact that you will be assisting me today though, so thank you. And er.. my rank is that of a Deacon but you may simply call me Thaddeus if you would like. After all, we are both protectors of the people."

The church member took Eliza’s advice of coming down from the golem and had decided to allow it to play with the children though it was more Thaddeus had to give it constant commands to do anything complicated but for the most part it shouldn’t be an issue. “You can call me Eliza, No need for formalities here.” Eliza said as the shorter man called her Miss Jaegar, it was a weird feeling as she hadn’t really given any thought to the fact she was technically a noble, well now a “fallen” noble due to her family’s actions while she was gone. That was a strange bit of news to get from others but in the end of the day Eliza didn’t care what her younger brother did with the family name as he was a strong person and had the power to back it up or at least enough to be able to deal with the consequences if something goes wrong. Which from how the Magic Knight side of things it sounded like that day was going to come sooner rather then later, regardless if she had too she would simply fill the void as the family head and have it regain its former standing.
“I have heard of them both mostly Lustian more then Dante though. Great members of the squad.” Eliza mentioned at Thaddeus inclusion of his relatives. Eliza hadn’t been around to much due to some missions from Zaven taking her out of the area for the most part but she had spent some time to catch up with new members and older members since she had been back. It was still a shock to see so little Wilhelms but that was fine in the long run, they were probably just keeping out of sight and mind.
“Don’t worry about it Thaddeus, I’m sure this was put on as more of an afterthought once they realized where they would be sending a church member too.” Eliza offered to the apologetic man, “This shouldn’t be an issue in the long run as most people here would only go after those who look weak or frail.” She said as she teased the shorter man. “Though since I’m here I’m sure they will at least think twice on those thoughts.” Eliza winked at the Deacon enjoying herself being out of the base and among people she had spent a good portion of her life with and around.
“We will move about the village as needed though I do think if you are going a more open approach then doing in here in the main square of the village will attract more of those willing to listen.” Eliza explained as she looked around the area taking note of the dilapidated buildings and somewhat ragged look of the clothing. “Unless you had food under that robe of yours to hand out to individual families I doubt any would open their doors wide enough to let a gnat through.” She finished her observation, These people were skeptical and cynical, they saw those in position of power and wealth doing things like this as “nobles trying to look like they care” type of things. So Eliza had some doubts on how many people or how well things will be received once the Deacon started doing his thing, though there were always people who came to listen to the word of the religious. To Eliza Thaddeus presented himself as quite the religious person so hopefully that sense of truth and authenticity will make this go well for the caramel skinned Deacon.
“I do suppose we are protectors of the People Thaddeus though this time I am here to protect you from the people and protect the people from themselves.” Eliza smiled it was a strange grey area on how the Magic Knights worked since they were in fact the military force of the Kingdom so while they were suppose to protect the people from outside sources they were also the same force that would put down the very people they protect if ordered to, to an extent of the order and reasoning behind. At least that’s what Eliza hoped that most Magic Knights would do. Eliza shook her head getting rid of that train of thought as it wasn’t helpful for their current situation and brought back her natural smile and was ready to head wherever the Deacon needed to go and do.

At the mention of possibly having food under his garments, Thaddeus couldn't help but reminisce. There has been a time in which the young Deacon had gone out of his way to spend the majority of his Yuul to obtain food and other such goods for those that were in need. In fact, this was something that he had done not all that long ago, after having become a Deacon of Nairn. Perhaps he should have brought some such goods along with his today? If he had thought that far ahead, he likely would have had far more visitors, so to speak. A thought to remember for the future, for sure.
Of course Thaddeus had also wished to speak on the matter of the fact that the Magic Knights had served to protect the people from not only external threats but from themselves as well. As a Deacon of the Hoard of Gnome, Thaddeus himself had technically been considered the shield of the church. All Vault-Keepers had been as much. While they may not have been on the front lines as much as the Spears of the Salamander had been, the Vault-Keepers had more or less also assisted with any matters that had dealt with defending not only the faith, but the people of the clover kingdom. After all, anytime that members of the church or the magic knights had brought in artifacts, idols or objects that carry dark powers, were linked directly to the daemons and to the underworld or were simply too dangerous to exist in the outside world, the task of locking away such things had fallen to the Vault-Keepers. Not that this was a much shared bit of information outside of the Church of Clover.
Rather than choose to speak on such matters at the moment though, Thaddeus would simply agree to the points that Eliza had been making. "I completely see what you mean. If I am hoping to grab the attention of these townsfolk than I am going to need to make my way down to a central location. I... suppose that we should head on out to take care of everything than." Although the young Deacon hadn't wished to disturb the fun that the children had been having with his golem, all good things had to come to an end at some point. That is precisely why Thaddeus had begun to meander on over towards the position that the children and the golem had been located in. "I'm sorry kids but for the moment, my friend and I are going to have to go. If you would like to spend more time with him though, feel free to grab your parents and meet us in the Town Square in about fifteen minutes. Tell them that a show is going to be happening..!"
Even if what he had to share with the townsfolk hadn't exactly been what one might consider to be a show, there was no harm in spreading the word that some kind of event was going to be happening in the Town Square in fifteen minutes. At least this way, people would have reason to come out and see him. Even if they didn't stay with him the entire time and hear everything that he had to say, the initial interest might have been enough to convince people to show up. That was primarily what he had wanted to happen right about now. "Well, I suppose that we should get going now shouldn't we, Eliza?" A soft smile would overtake Thaddeus as he had looked upon the Magic Knight that had been sent to guard him. Even if he had been capable of taking care of himself, her presence had been a surprisingly welcome one.
--
Fifteen minutes would seemingly pass in no time as the Deacon had found himself now located within the center of the town square. He had been standing atop the right shoulder of his golem and had begun to wave to the small group that had slowly begun to grow as time had passed. Down below, he could easily make out the group of children that he had been entertaining not all that long ago. Admittedly it was a rather impressive sight to behold, so many people having gathered here just to see what he was going to see. Even if they hadn't quite been aware as to why they had come out here.
Once a decently sized crowd had made their way out to the Town Square, Thaddeus would begin to wave to the townsfolk down below. "Hello, one and all..! My name is Thaddeus Wilhelm and I am a Deacon of the Church of Gnome. I must say that it is my greatest pleasure to make your acquaintance." Holding onto the side of the carbon golems head so that he wouldn't fall off, the Deacon would begin to take a deep bow for each of those that had been before him. As a member of a Main Noble family such as the Wilhelm family, it must have been quite the sight to see Thaddeus bow before people of such a drastically lower social standing. "While I may understand why seeing one such as myself may be off putting, I ask nothing more than for you all to lend an ear. Things... haven't been the easiest for those in the Forsaken Region and I for one recognize that. We of the Church of Clover see you and wish to assist in whatever ways that we can."
Rising back up from his lowered position, Thaddeus would begin to scan the crowd with a relaxed gaze. "I understand that it may not seem to be the most appealing thing in the world, but we of the Church of Clover care for each and every one of you. To show this, I plan to come back within a weeks time with food, drink, and clothing a plenty. You may not believe me when I say these words but.. I truly wish to assist you all. All that I ask in return is for you to hear what I have to say."
"For those of you that wish to hear what I have to say, I would like to speak on the factions of the Church of Clover for each of you. If any of these interest you.. Feel free to speak with me afterwards and I shall see what I can do about getting you into the Church as a Nun or Deacon... That said, let us begin. The four factions within the Church of Clover are the Spears of the Salamander, the Emissariate of Sylph, the Garden of Undine, and the Hoard of Gnome. To ensure that the everyday folk such as yourselves aren't troubled by cults, undead or potential demonic activity, the hearty folk under the Church of Salamander shall rise up and take on these horrid threats. Maintaining a diplomatic relationship with foreign countries or assisting other members of the Church of Clover are the tasks that fall under the Emissariate of Sylph. They tend to barter for quality deals and laws with foreign nations, even with smaller groups within the country itself. Much like the other factions of the Church of Clover, they have your best interests at heart. Now for those within the Garden of Undine, these attendants tend to ensure that others are being taken care of. They tend to go about maintaining the mental and physical health of the common folk, Magic Knights, and members of the Church through their healing magic. If you ever find yourself in need and hoping to be taken care, seek out the Garden of Undine. The attendants that you may find at the Garden of Undine are hand-picked and an important part of looking after the garden and the plant-life within it. I assure you that after you leave the Garden of Undine, you shall find yourself feeling better than you ever have. And finally, we find ourselves on the topic of the Hoard of Gnome, the faction that I find myself as a Deacon of. Where the Spears of the Salamander act as the weapon of the Church of Clover, we of the Hoard of Gnome act as the Shield. I can assuredly say that no matter what threats may find their way into the Clover Kingdom, that the Hoard of Gnome shall work in tandem with the other three factions to overtake these threats and maintain the sense of livelihood that you have all experienced up to this point. If any of this interests you, please step forward and ask anything that may be on your mind. I shan't leave until I am sure that each of your questions are answered, no matter what the question may be."
Several more hours would pass as Thaddeus would remain within the Town Square. While not everyone had chosen to stick around and hear anything more than what he had to say, Thaddeus had known that he had made a small difference in these peoples lives. Once everything had come to a close and everyone had returned to their homes, Thaddeus would make headway towards the young Magic Knight that had accompanied him through this unexpected journey. "Eliza.. I wished to inform you of the fact that I have highly appreciated your presence here. I'm not quite sure what it is about you that seems to set me at ease but having you here has certainly helped. I.. hope to see you again in the future. If you ever need anything, I'll be here by your side. Just let me know. And hey..! If things don't work out for you with the Magic Knights, I would love to have you by my side in the Church." Although he had been simply teasing her, Thaddeus couldn't help but allow for the truth to slip through his lips. He had enjoyed her presence and truly wished to see her again in the future. The only question was whether or not such a thing would happen. "Now that my task at hand has been settled, I should probably get heading back... Seriously, if you ever need anything, just let me know." With that, Thaddeus would depart.

It seemed that the Deacon took Eliza’s word for what they were worth and that put a bit of faith back into the world for the oldest Jaegar. Eliza spent the day simply watching over the Deacon and interacting as needed with the people around them more so as a buffer between the Wilhelm view on things and someone who grew up in this area. It helped put those who were wary at ease and made things run smoothly. Those that would have enjoyed getting some yul from the wandering priest kept their distance when they spotted Eliza as she would tend to already be staring at them whenever they thought they were hidden in the alleyways. At the end of the day of playing bodyguard Eliza had quite enjoyed herself and it seemed the Deacon had felt the same way. “Don’t worry I’m sure we will see more of each other as the church and Knights tended to work together pretty often.” She assured the shorter man. “Also as much as I enjoy the thought of the church their teachings don’t quite fit my own.” She teased as while the church taught compassion and mercy, Eliza thought that you needed the strength to stand up for yourself and fight for what you want a very much Might is Right mentality. She was aware that this wasn’t the best mindset for most average people and that was fine as she never wanted to be normal or average. “I’ll offer you the same, if you need a Magic Knight or someone to help you with someone get ahold of me.” Eliza said as they parted ways. “I’m typically at the Golden Dawn Base so come find me there whenever.”
