Ozma sighed a bit as he sat on a bench in Kiten under the early afternoon sky, it was a bit cloudy turning dark and possibly stormy in the near future but at the moment it was grey skies and fair temperatures. The mute lion was here to do a job he had grabbed from the board which involved rescuing a kitten and as it would turn out someone else would be joining him on this job though who he didnt know, with the paint mage was his spirit Iris who was sitting on his shoulder enjoying the weather and her colors showed she was in a pleasant mood as always as she shifted like a kaleidoscope in terms of hue.”Ozma how much longer till the other knight gets here?” she asked as he glanced up at her his gaze holding a look of uncertinity.'honestly Iris im not sure at least until they arrive we have some downtime the ride on the carriage was longer then I expected' he told her thru the link as he stretched to loosen his joints a bit.
When the paint mage had grabbed the job he was intent to get ahold of a broom to make it easy to get to Kiten but the brooms had been taken so he had to hop on a carriage to take him from the royal capital to the common region, thankfully with a bit of yul the driver was more then willing to let him hitch a ride towards his destination and he wouldn't complain as they had a rather peaceful time watching the countryside as they traveled. Now that they had arrived in the town however they had to wait for their partner on this job so they had sat at a bench to wait and relax a bit.”hopefully they show up soon we need to find this kitty quick before the storm gets here and decides to cut loose” Iris mentioned as Ozma nodded.

Joseph typically liked to arrive to a job early, but it seemed like he wasn't the only one. At least he knew who to look for, it was always good to dig for any and all information possible when it came to a mission. This may be finding a kitten, but it was no less important to do the same here. Every small thing mattered, every little bit of aid. The young man would accept any mission that he could do. At least they wouldn't be looking in their home city, nor in where the Azure Deer headquarters was located. Hapshass had a number of issues waiting for him that the golden dawn member would rather not face at this moment. Nairin would just make him feel guilty, like a traitor for leaving that squad. The person he hadn't trusted was gone after all. People had relied on her, no matter how much he hadn't trusted that person. Lydia was a good person, even if her stubborn views of wanting to be right above all else had made her untrustworthy in his own eyes. She had still done many wonderful things. A hero to many, those many who felt her incredibly trustworthy. Would that sea deamon had even died without her? Everyone had been doing their best in Raque during that time, including her. Things would have gone far worse without that woman.
They had never wished ill upon Lydia. Part of him said this was likely caused by the same stubbornness to see anything but her own view that almost got himself, Sol, and the rest of their small grouping killed in Kikka. But the want to never see her again certainly didn't wash away feeling bad about it. No, Kiten was fine. Ozma wasn't a friend or enemy with how little the two had actually spoken face to face. There was always something else big going on the other times, until now. Their quiet steps moved with a quiet and calm joy. The day was good, there were currently no issues kicking them in the face, and the mission seemed like it would be relatively easy. The only other feeling they had popped up when finally spotting Ozma. When trying to speak out, his lips had moved but no sound came out. It was a bit nerve wracking realizing how little he actually knew about that person. He had thought they had known Hinota well enough, but the flower fete had proven the young man wrong. He had known even less about Ozma, then again did he actually really know anything at all about their personality like he thought he did? So, the peachy orange haired person sunk to the one habit that always did the trivk to calm them down.
Fingers quickly moved, his steps pausing a bit away from the other. His mind hoped nobody would look that understood sign language, he just wanted to steady his nerves. ~This isn't the flower blossom fete, he's not his sister. Don't be anxious Joseph. Yes its weird that she treated you like a stranger, that she was so weirdly formal around you. It was nothing like the person just starting out as a magic knight like you were during the time that deamon had flooded Raque. We were stuck on an island of corpses with the deamon that had flooded everything on the same island pretending to be human while my senior was loosing his mind and she was keeping the only survivor on hangmans hill alive somehow. I'm not sure how someone can forget that, but it doesn't matter. If I connect that with her brother than I wont be able to speak verbally from this panic so breathe! They are different people. Ozma is himself. Breathe, continue on, don't panic, just don't think about it.~ That self talking seemed to do the trick. The anxiety begun to fade away, allowing him to start walking again. It was always easier to stuff some things away for later to deal with, if ever at all. That was then, this was now. Who was in front of him was not Hinota. “Hello Ozma and Iris! Sorry to keep you both waiting.”
Their voice was still its same soft tone. A voice that likely stemmed from their gentle nature and awkward shyness, despite being things he regularly tried to push against. He signed the word reverberating, activating his intermediate tracking spell. Bits of carbon matter appeared, quickly crafting a detailed map of various sounds and shapes. It didn't have color, but the monochrome landscape still had many details, down to every leaf on a tree. It would help if the map had color, but there was no helping that. “Some of the cats in that alleyway look similar in shape to the lost kitten. We could start looking there, unless you have a better idea where to start?” He pointed at the map while speaking, since they weren't exactly expecting the other to be psychic or anything.

Ozma blinked as he heard a familier voice call out to him and he and the spirit both turned their heads to see Joseph approaching them and the paint mage stood up before shaking his head showing he didnt mind that the man was a bit late.”its fine Joseph besides I needed a bit of a rest since my trip out here wasnt as quick as I expected” he signed as Iris nodded .”yeah the broom closet was empty before we set out so getting here quickly was a bit difficult” she explained before they both watched as the Golden Dawn mage quickly formed a map spell and would mention that many of the cats near the allys seemed to hold the shape of the kitten they were seeking though before he could go any further Ozma held up a fingers before moving to start signing again.”as good as it would be to jump to looking at the cats in the alley it would be best if we moved to talk to the client first so that way we can know the discription of the cat we are looking for after all they would know their kitty's appearance far better then we ever could” he suggested thru sign as Iris would nod in agreement.
Ozma would motion for the man to follow him before moving towards the housing area were the client would be, once they arrived at the house the paint mage would knock on the door before a middle aged women would appear with her little girl beside her,”yes were you the two that came to help find my little girls kitty?” the woman asked as Ozma would nod with Iris speaking up again.”we did my partner has a hard time communicating but these two mages are here to help find your kitty but if we may ask what does the cat look like?” the spirit asked before the little girl would blink up at them.” Mrs Snugglepuff has pretty orange fur with a white patch on her chest and nose please mr knights find my kitty” she pleaded with Ozma giving a small smile and nodding before turning to Joseph since he was better at maps and terrain then the Lions was.

~The broom closet was empty?~ These words were signed out before Joseph could stop himself. When it came to vocal words, he was far more careful about what came out. With sign language? It was easy for the young man to speak without needing to think nor consider, much how a person was supposed to talk in the first place. Even if he tried to fight it, it was also easier to speak casually for him. The hard part was actually trying to censor himself around others who could also understand sign language. ~I have gloves that can cast a transportation spell that stopped getting used after I could make my own transportation spells. You can have them next time we meet if you want.~ His riding gloves were meant for undertakers, but there was no point in bringing that up at the moment. He used to rely on those gloves for getting around quite a bit, it was strange to think about. What they didn't expect was Ozma to sign to meet the client to ask for a description. ~You don't already know?~ Maybe hearing from the person would be better than what was on the file? ~Sorry.~ It was a lot easier to be polite and in control when speaking common tongue. It took more time and energy to come out, so he had far more control over what came out. But this also meant he wasn't mentally exhausted from talking with Ozma, even if they were a bit mentally exhausted from the earlier freak out.
Cobborn followed Ozma quietly along, their map spell moving beside him as they did. Though older and taller, he still let the two do all the talking once they got there. Well, he was older than Ozma, but not the spirit The person there that offered information was the parent of the person missing their cat. This was not new information to him, but maybe it was to the other? Though color would not help that much as it came to his own monochromatic map. When eyes set back on the young man, he pushed his own map spell back to being in front of their person. ~Colors don't help on my map, unless you can tell by the shade of grey which cats are orange. Data on the mission information described the kitten as being lightly fluffy, having medium length fur for its age.~ They could tell where a cat wasn't white, but not what the other color was. Still, his map remained having quite a bit of detail on it everywhere. There were multiple places in the city where stray cats seemed to be gathering. Part of his mind was still a bit distracted with thoughts of a certain person. ~Are you still looking for your sister? I saw her at the Flower Blossom Fete. I didn't interact with her much though, as it seemed she didn't remember me and its not in my nature to try to bother nice people.~ He didn't want to say anything, but the man had said he would if she was spotted, right?
He hurried from the clients home in a bit of a speed walk, being careful to keep the map of the tracking spell in front of him. From how quickly he started moving towards one of the location to how quickly he had signed about Hinota, Josephs body language at that moment seemed to teem with discomfort. Thankfully they were not an especially quick person, nor was the speed walking something that would be hard to keep up with.

Ozma listened to Joseph as he questioned that the broom closet had been empty before he offered a set of gloves that can cast transportation spells to him for the next time they met to which the mute noble politely shook his head at the gesture with a small smile before flicking his paintbrush in the air to form words from silver paint.”thats alright Joseph those are of more use to you then me but thank you for the offer, I'm sure I can arrange for my family to have such a thing crafted in the near future” he wrote out as they had had headed out to find the kitty for the young girl, while the man mentioned that his map spell didnt show color and that the discription might help more Ozma moved to use his brush again when the sound of a cats cry was heard and he blinked before he glanced around with Iris doing the same. Sure enough in the distance he spotted a fluffy orange kitten stuck up in a nearby tree.
“seems we found out target now we just gotta get it out of the tree” Iris stated as the noble motioned for Joseph to follow him.” here lets get it down” he wrote in gold paint in the air. As Joseph mentioned that he had seen Hinota recently Ozma blinked in surprise before quickly flicking his paintbrush again.”you saw her was she ok?” he questioned in blue paint in the air showing he was concerened but the fact that she had been found was comforting at least. As they reached the tree Ozma glanced up noticing the kitten was just out of reach and he looked to Joseph as Iris had an idea.”Joseph perhaps you can use a simple aspect of your magic to make a step to reach the kitty Ozmas element isnt exactly solid in its simplest form” she asked as it was true Ozmas element could shift to other things but paint in its truest form was more liquid then solid.

Ozma was someone who was mute, therefore one of those who he could not hide words from as easily. The other understood sign language, the very thing Joseph was the most fluid in speaking. They were even better adapt at it by using paint magic to craft words into the air. For some reason it was something he couldn't imagine himself doing, no matter how upset he became in the past. Maybe more people would have treated him like a person who could speak before joining the magic knights and gaining more of a voice after his first mission if he had such boldness. It felt too bold, something the older man avoided quite a bit. The reminder that this wasn't a normal commoner of course came up in the colorful words in the air. Ozmas family, Hinotas family were nobles. Even without ever being directly told, he had known whatever family they had been from was nobility. The very first time he met her in Raque it had felt like she was a beautiful and intelligent noble full of class and emotional strength. It was the sort of person the peachy pink eyed person had considered out of his league, though that was before a lot had happened. He was now considered a noble himself, even if they didn't feel like one still. It was hard to fully come to terms with, wanting it only for the family he loved and craved.
Life was complicated. He would need to get used to the idea that there were people he knew that could casually talk about buying items with transportation magic. It wasn't something expensive to save up for than buy for them. Than again, how much money did Joseph even have saved up by now at this point? Magic knights seemed to be paid well and he was poor at spending money. It was a habit born from times he could not fully recall, the need to save every scrap of yule to try to make sure they always survive. His first real stable form of transportation had been the gloves with the transportation spell, before he had gained transportation spells himself.~That sounds better than a roll of the dice on if you do or don't have transportation for the day.~ But now the map spell had brought them to the proper cat it seemed. Iris speaking up made it more clear that it was likely the not just target shaped, but colored as well. A stray cat was unlikely to be as plump as a well fed one, or groomed as well as one that typically lives in a clean and safe environment. It lacked any and all scars and seemed to be lacking any recent injuries as well. The last thing wasn't important to its identity, just that the owner would likely be very upset if their cat became injured.
Children had a harder time regulating their emotions, as a result reacted differently to positive and negative events. The notion of possibly making a child cry would be quite uncomfortable, which meant making sure the young feline continued to be unharmed until the owner had it returned to them. The question about Hinota was ignored for now, choosing instead to focus on the mission for as long as possible. That wouldn't be long, but it was better than no time at all. Joseph used his carbon matter magic to create a basic step ladder made of black mid quality coal. His magic would never look colorful or creative if it came from this Ravencrests mind, but practical was something they tried to aim for. But it was Ozma who was to get the animal, leaving Joseph needing to address the Hinota question sooner than desired. His hands paused before using them to speak. It would be better to speak out loud, easier considering one needs to be aware of the hand movements to understand sign language. Maybe if the golden dawn member was less emotionally exhausted, or dreaded thinking about who he thought had been a friend not remembering him at all, even looking scared of him. Maybe then the red head would be able to speak properly like he should. ~Hinota looked healthy and was with Valo from the green mantis. He's a very trustworthy person.~
Their eyes looked down, glancing at the map spell. It wasn't really needed anymore, so the man stopped using it. ~I wish there was a way I could escape using sign language.~ It was a comment to himself that wasn't meant to come out. For someone who wasn't the best at thinking words in their mind, signing it or speaking it out helped their thoughts come together a lot of the time. The action of signing wasn't a medical related thing ever since it was learned he didn't have his mothers sickness, but it had already become as natural as breathing. It was even in his magic instead of vocalizations. The words had been signed quickly and with drooped motions, certainly showing their emotions though the silent speaking again. Even when Hinota and himself had been the same rank, he had looked up to her. ~Maybe it's alright if she doesn't remember me as a friend anymore.~ Thinking about it wouldn't make her remember, nor being upset about it. Those negative emotions seared in with her look of fear had to go, so he needed to accept that the friendship was over. It would have been nice if he had been able to keep his word to have tea with her one day, but life didn't always work out the way you wanted it. Being upset over it wouldn't solve anything.
“I'm sure that cat will appreciate what you are doing after they get home. Felines tend to follow their curiosity too far and get themselves scared and lost over it.” Speaking out loud was simple enough, though his entire body seemed to exhale a bit, as if it zapped them of some sort of energy. It was more exhausting than it should have been, just as he knew it would, the reason they had been avoiding it. One might assume the panic from earlier would have exhausted him, but speaking those emotions through sign language had released it in a healthy way. This made those earlier negative emotions not really effect the man much in the long run. When speaking vocally, it was like their mental energy fueled it, making it more taxing on them the less he had left to use.
