[attr="class","dungentitle"]THE UNDERCROFT
RANK: Grand LOCATION: Nairn MIN-MAX PLAYER GROUP: 2 - 4
A most peculiar bit of lore that has always been hidden well by the Church is that of a former Bishop, one that wished to become Cardinal by any and all means. Going as far as to use old relics taken from the great vault hidden underneath the royal capital, the man began extending his life beyond his expiration date before eventually doing the same to his followers. When the Spear sect of the church found him out, they eventually killed him and his cult while suffering heavy loses. Stashing everything away in a special area below the church in Nairn in a place called the Undercroft, everything that had anything to do with the Bishop was thrown into the deepest recesses of the Undercroft and stricken from the annals of history. For the past days however, visitors of the church, as well as the local deacons and nuns have claimed hearing noises from the mausoleum. But when they visited the place, there seemed to be nothing there, leading them to believe the place might be haunted. For this reason, local mages have been allowed to look into the matter, though the Cardinals keep their lips sealed with regards to what is truly down there, hidden underneath the mausoleum itself...

NUMBER OF ROOMS: 2 WORD COUNT PER ROOM: 3000 FLOOR DESCRIPTION:
When first coming to the church in respond to their request for aid, you will be given a key that will open the door to the mausoleum underneath the church itself. Claiming that people of high station and wealth have been put to rest here up until as recently as a few days ago, it is here that you will begin looking into the possibility of ghosts haunting the place. As the location of an Undercroft is unknown to anyone other than the Cardinals, none will be able to tell you there is anything else beside a mausoleum. As such, you will need to use all of your smarts in order to figure out how to move forward.
The religious dead buried underneath the church in the mausoleum, woken from their eternal slumber by the presence of something truly vile. Brought back with the single intention of destroying and killing the town above, as well as the church for their master, these are no longer the people they used to be. Nothing more than withered husks of once good people, enhanced beyond their prime by an infusion of immense necrotic power, they are to be put down before they put you down. These zombies attack with their hands and teeth, and possess no magic.
Stronger than your average undead, these were chosen to act as the eyes and ears of their master. In life, they were the followers of the bishop that sought to overthrow the seating power of the church, a sin they paid for with their lives. Stronger and more vicious than the others that were raised from the dead along with them up in the mausoleum, they can be used by their master to act as a voicebox by which he can speak to the interlopers. Also capable of taking direct control over their actions, they are nothing more than playthings of flesh and bone. The Envoys can use attack creation and hex magic using blood magic.

Claiming your key from the deacon in church of tending to the mausoleum, the young man asks that you do not go around looting any of the coffins or go around breaking anything. Clearly being very protective of the people down here, as well as taking his job very seriously, he closes the door behind you and lets you go about the place. After a proper inspection, those with at least 60 Sensory will be able to figure out that there is a tear in one of the walls. Those with at least Ki tier 3 will be able to vaguely sense movement behind that same wall, which will alarm them to the tear in the wall.

Feeling as if the very presence of death itself just passed through your being, it is then that the dead in the mausoleum behind you begin to rise from their coffins. Trying to get out of the mausoleum and wreak havoc on Nairn, it is up to you to put them back to rest before heading deeper into the area beyond the mausoleum.

With the zombies in the mausoleum dealt with, the group presses on deeper into the place. Finding a staircase behind the wall that had been hidden from everyone, it takes them into a part of the church that is easily as old as the church in the royal capital. Fallen into disrepair a long time ago, the signs of battle can still be found on the stone walls in the form of scorch marks, puncture marks and deep cuts, as well as lots of dried blood. Funnily enough, there are no spiderwebs or anything of the sort around, almost as if even these animals knew better than to venture into this accursed place. But with the wall down that kept the evil within contained, it is up to you to press on and get rid of the main threat.
Stronger than your average undead, these were chosen to act as the eyes and ears of their master. Also capable of taking direct control over their actions, they are nothing more than playthings of flesh and bone. The Envoys can use attack creation and hex magic using blood magic.
Once belonging to a sect of warriors trained by the church and meant to embody the spirit of the Salamander, these valorous warriors fell in their battle against their new master and his lackeys. Thrown away after their passing and receiving no honors for their sacrifice, simply tossed into the undercroft and forgotten about by the world, these undead are not being controlled. Instead, they fight against the living out of their own free will as their hatred against the church is enough to push them towards the death of those that would kill the master that brought them back from the dead. The Spears are capable of utilizing physical reinforcement and attack creation magic of cosmic or fire.
Among the Spears of old, Hadrian was said to be the most blessed by the salamander. Possessing virtue, valor and a sense of justice, some within the church believed that he might one day become a Cardinal. However, as fate would have it, he was among several of his brothers to fall in battle while bringing down the monster that raised them back into undeath. Having been stashed away here for untold decades without anyone to even know of the sacrifice he and his brethren made, his virtues have made way for a blind rage towards all mortals that would enter the halls he now calls home. Above all, he must not be allowed to make it into the world above, as the damage he might cause out of sheer rage would be catastrophic. Hadrian can utilize physical reinforcement, healing and attack creation magic. Upon starting combat, he will rally his men and increase their strength by a Senior amount.

Unlike the average undead, Hadrian is capable of speaking in coherent sentences, which he will do by means of calling you out. Calling the church and all it stands for a lie as they left him to rot down here, discarding him and his men once they had no more use for him, he will begin to violently assault you in an attempt at getting back at the outside world.

NUMBER OF ROOMS: 3 WORD COUNT PER ROOM: 4000 FLOOR DESCRIPTION:
Should you manage to put an end to the tragic afterlives of the Spears that had once done the noble thing by ridding the country of a most dangerous threat, the team goes that much deeper into the place. As the air begins to truly reek, a foul stench penetrates your nostrils, making most feel like vomitting. Making your way out of the previous room and reaching a place that seems so foul and despoiled it can't be the same church, there are rotting remains everywhere. More than that, it is as if the rot is being forcibly spread along the floor, walls and ceiling as if intended to cover the whole interior. If this continues, the spread of death might reach outside of this place and bring a pestilence upon the people of Clover. Yet another issue that clearly needs to be resolved.
Once a nun in the church of Nairn, Mathildis got in close with Geraint, even though she was not allowed to start a family as per church rules. Believing things might change once Geraint would rise to power as a Cardinal, she went through a great deal of hardship to see to it that he did so they might one day have children. When Geraint fell off the deep end and began using demonic artifacts to extend his life, she was made the same offer, which she gladly took. So when the Spears attacked and killed them all, she was among the first to be risen into unlife as a lich. Using her newfound necrotic powers to sire "Children" out of the rot, her demented mind wishes to see more and more people killed and thrown into the rot room so that she might give birth to more. Mathildis uses golem creation, defense creation and healing using a fungus based magic. Every round, she can spawn up to three Grand golems of any given type out of the surrounding area to attack her foes.
A Bishop that aspired to one day become a Cardinal realized after years of service to the church that he would never get his chance, as the current Cardinals just would not seem to die. As such, he was eventually tempted by a demonic artifact that was brought into his care. Instead of bringing it to the great vault, he liberated various other items of similar power in order to extend his life, and grant him control over life and death. Extending his life and that of his wife Mathildis, they began plotting to overthrow the church by killing the seated Cardinals and replacing them with and his people. When he and his cult following were eventually found out, they were assaulted and killed by the Spears, but not before ensuring they would all die with them. Stashed away inside of the Undercroft, the ritual that had him take the power from the demonic artifacts made him effectively immortal, allowing him to come back after being killed. As such, he has become an eternal threat to the kingdom that has to be stopped by any means needed. Caring nothing for life itself, he gladly indulges his wife in making more rot monsters she calls children, as well as fueling the anger Hadrian and his Spears feel towards the living. Geraint uses attack creation along with hexes and healing of the Decay magic type, making him rather unique. Once per round, he can revive all of the Fallen Spears in the room for half of their health.

With the death of Hadrian, the way deeper into the undercroft is left unguarded, allowing the team the chance to advance deeper into a place that is covered in fungus and decay. Hearing a distant chanting of a female voice in the distance, more fallen spears march on your position in an attempt at keeping you from what they call the "Incubation room". Noticing the faint figure of a woman, as she no longer looks all that human, she asks if you've come to witness the birth of her next batch of children. With several guards posted by her side to keep you from getting right to her, she reaches into the rot and pulls out a twisted little monster that appears rotten to the core. Kissing it as though it were a newborn child, the woman calls herself Mathildis before claiming you will become part of the incubation room soon, and that you will finally be loved.

Fallen Spears (3x per player) | Geraint, Arch-Lich of Nairn
Defeating Mathildis and her following of Spears and rotten golems, the way into the inner sanctum is freed up. Once you enter the place, the doors will lock behind you as the rotting substance and a mass of fungus grows over and shuts the door completely. Descending from the sky until he hovers but a few centimeters above the floor, Geraint will look you over and question whether or not the church sent you, and if they made you aware of what was down here. He will ask if you were aware of the Spears you killed so far, and of Hadrian, loyal followers of the church that were discarded and stricken from history as if they had all never existed. Asking you whether you would consider joining his cause and bring down the church to install a better one, it won't be long before it becomes clear that he won't stop at the church. Having clearly gone insane from being isolated from the world for hundreds of years in the dark, his goals of killing and returning all of Clovers citizens and covering the land in rot and decay have to be stopped.
Secrets. Regardless of how well they are hidden or who may have hidden them will always come to light eventually. This was even more true when it came to numbers, the more people knew the more likely someone was gonna find the person willing to sell their soul for thirty pieces of silver. This was why the ice mage never went into his past and kept people even within his family at arm's length. There were many reasons his history was off-limits. He didn't want or need people to pity what he had been through, nor did he want those same people to try and leverage his past against them or those he could actually tolerate. Still, it didn't stop him from finding out information that he shouldn't, he had a knack for it but then he had unlimited resources and his family had a lot of connections due to their status.
He had heard whispers and rumours about the church when he had been younger, well, one of their clergy members and no lowly one, it was either a priest or bishop that wished to become cardinal and they didn't care who they had to step on or what they had to do to obtain their goal. This alone had concerned the ice mage, he didn't believe the spirits were gods even then, to him they were more like guides or forces of nature but he wasn't about to tell someone they couldn't believe such a thing. Regardless of his beliefs, he knew the church was there to serve the people spiritually and give them physical aid if it was within their power to do so. He would have asked the Delothosin but they would be as tight-lipped as he was himself so saved himself the time and didn't bother. The rumours said that the clergy member in question had used taboo methods to prolong their life.
If that had been indeed been true, then he had wondered if the church was populated with idiots that didn't realize that everything was give and take. Well, that and death would always claim his prize. Even if a world filled with magic it was far-fetched as far as he had been concerned and so hadn't paid it much mind as he had more important things to deal with, like his studies. Soon enough, it had been logged under 'folklore' in the ice mage's memory bank and not thought on again. That was until recently when a request came across his desk. He read the report carefully, it said that noises were being heard in the mausoleum below the church of gnome in Nairn by members of the church and even visitors yet when the spears of salamander checked nothing had been found making the belief the place was haunted.
He sighed and rolled his eyes wondering if they could really be so foolish, then again, weirder things had happened of late. Instead of bothering others, he decided that he, himself would look into it. The reason for this is because the report jogged the 'folklore' he had heard as a child. Then again, the 'folklore' was said to have happened in the noble region, not Nairn which was in the common region. Still, his interest had been piqued and so he had made arrangements to go to the church of gnome within Nairn. He had even sent a message to the church itself requesting Thaddeus accompany him. It felt only right that someone from the church is there when the source was found and dealt with.
As soon as the message was sent he finished the rest of his paperwork for both the Crimson Lions and his family before he started his journey toward his destination. Normally he would have walked but given this was something to do with the church he was sure they would want it dealt with sooner rather than later and so travelled by carriage. He knew quite a bit of the lecture that would be coming his way. Don't disturb the dead. Don't loot. Don't damage the mausoleum. Don't damage the coffins. It wasn't as if he was a Black Bull or a rogue. He had reverence for the cycle of life and death, he believed those who have passed should be left to rest quietly. It was one of the reasons he didn't wish to be resurrected when he passed regardless of the reason. In fact, he'd likely kill the one who did it.
He could understand why such things would be said, not everyone held the same reverence for the dead and so would listen to their words when they came. Then again, he thought as he had requested Thaddeus be there with him it would put the church more at ease but what did he know. It had taken morning and most of the afternoon but the ice mage had made it to the church and walked to the gate awaiting Thaddeus's arrival so that they may speak more to others of the church to gain any information they could, get the unavoidable lecture and whatever equipment was needed to do this task.
Rank & Element: Junior ¦ Light Class & Type: Relic ¦ Accessory (bracelet) Magic Specializations: Physical Reinforcement ¦ Healing Appearance & Lore: A simple bracelet made out of reinforced glass with an opalite charm dangling from it almost like a pendulum, that gives off a dull light during the day and a bright light during the night preventing any natural shadow from forming.
There is nothing of major historical importance or deep story into where this item came from. The white-haired heir of the Ravencrest family has suffered from terrible day and night terrors since he was young and still does to this day. When asked what is wrong he brushes it off telling people not to worry it was a condition he had. He will never go into the terrible things he sees, in fact, he personally wishes he could forget he quickly realized that his perfect memory was a double edge sword and at times he truly wished he didn't have it.
His elder sister Lydia was the first to realize that it happened more when he was in an emotional state or surrounded by darkness. She also realized that he refused to sleep unless every light source he could find was active or he would sleep outside under the sun during the day, this wasn't optimal as he was to be trained to take over the family if anything were to happen to Lydia. Still, there wasn't much anyone could think to do to help him as he refused to open up but even if they could that came with a different set of hurdles they had to get over. Hania earlier in his life wouldn't take things from people due to his treatment before being adopted.
It took a while but Lydia finally found a way to help her younger brother, she had a crystal made with light inside and told him to use it when he sleeps. She said it was hers and she just wanted to see if it would help. He was reluctant but she said it only had to be a few days so he accepted. Throughout those few days, he slept somewhat peacefully so it was clear that it helped but not enough, she could only guess that the light wasn't strong enough. She realized this would be fine for a normal child afraid of the dark but it was clear to the pink-haired woman that this wasn't a normal situation.
She personally designed what she believed would help him the most, she chose the materials, their appearance even the opalite that dangles from it. As the bracelet was being made she slowly started to imbue her own element into the glass beads and the opalite as the former was created and the latter was shaped. It took close to a year to complete but Lydia seen it as something that should be done slow and steady, this was to make sure that it was done right the first time and that no matter what it would be near indestructible for whatever he may face in life.
On what is now classed as Hania's eighth birthday after a certain incident happened, she gave him a box, within it laid the bracelet. He was told to keep it with him always as she would be there to keep the darkness at bay and watching over him so he could be at peace while he rested. From that moment he has always kept it with him even if he hasn't always worn it.

[attr="class","silasreescroll"] Leonard got up and began throwing his pajamas into the closet. He wasn't quite sure why he had been chosen for this kind of duty today, given that his power was still lacking when it came to raw power. Sure he had gotten better but he was still having trouble every time he tried to use full body transformation spells. He had failed at them more times than he could count and the noble mage was wondering if he was going to get them right. In any case, it was time to choose an attire for the day and set off. [break][break]
"Hmm." He commented, looking over to the place in his room where his outfits were stored and moving over to the white bodysuit...befor chaning his mind and moving over to the back red and gold themed one. He had been using it for a few good times now and he had found it exceptionally comfy. It was stretchy and light, which was a godsend considering he needed alot of mobility to cast his spells and use his bow. It would still take a couple of minutes to get everything ready. Despite the overall simplicity of the whole getup, there was still some nuance with the belts and the cape. Gotta wear the crimson lion insigna somewhere to let others know you are part of the good guys. [break][break]
Leo began dressing up by shoving his arms into the tight fingerless gloves, pulling up until they settled into place. He made sure to wiggle his fingers in properly, then quickly hopped into his shorts and grabbed his top. He pulled his coat over his shoulders, settled in all the belts to keep his outfit from falling off of him, and ended by slipping his open toed boots over his feet and hopping off the bed. A few tip tapping and light squeaking sounds later and the young mage grabbed hold of his grimoire and his bow. With everything in place, he would rush outside and begin moving to the place he was needed: The entrance of the dungeon. [break][break]
Leonard would arrive a little on the early side, which was a far cry from the usual. In any case he did not want to let his vice captain wait for him, even though he had some questions on why he was being asked to explore a dungeon that was clearly out of his league, well at least coming from the reports. Perhaps his lava magic was extremely beneficial? It could be, he just didn't think he was the only lava mage within the Crimson Lions. [break][break]
"Greetings, Lord Hania." The young Vermillion saluted to make himself known. "I...came as requested, supposedly there are other people coming in as well yes?" He tried to put up a confident front, even though he still had his doubts about the whole thing. [break][break]

EIVOR AURELIUS - JUNIOR 5th CLASS - BLACK BULLS
When the news came to Eivor’s attention that he had been selected to aid a group of magic knights in clearing out a unique location, conflicting emotions greeted that revelation. On one hand, Eivor was excited, if not proud, to be assigned such an important task. But and this was a big but, his excitement had been tempered with a sense of fear and dread. While a bit courageous and boastful of his abilities, Eivor was not ignorant nor dumb to his own limitations and flaws. He had heard how dangerous and terrible those dungeons could be, alongside, the horrendous and monstrous creatures that be found within those dark halls. He wasn’t too confident in his ability to survive a dungeon, primarily, due to his own status within his magic knight squad and his relative lack of control over his magic. Then there was the fact that, Eivor’s magic was not really suited for teamwork stuff. It was destructive, volatile, and largely indiscriminate in its effects. He should have gotten himself a weapon or attempted to discover some less than volatile spells before coming, but it was too late.
Eivor had not been told much about the mission. Other than the location, and that, he should listen to whoever the leader of the dungeon party. Something which, Eivor thought to be relatively obvious, but then again, from his understanding, the Black Bulls had some sort of reputation for being wild, destructive, and quote on quote, rowdy. Upon closer consideration, that warning to listen to whoever was in charge made absolute sense. That, and he started to realize that he was more of a fit within the Black Bulls than he thought. Eivor himself had a bad habit of being a bit rowdy and whatnot, but what truly placed him within the Black Bulls was his magic. His magic was well, seemingly the definition of the Black Bulls. But at last, that was only a theory, and Eivor never developed the guts or found the time to ask the squad leader why he accepted Eivor into his magic knight squad.
After speaking more with the person who assigned him the mission, Eivor was able to learn a bit more about the task at hand. Specifically, that the church had asked for help in checking out some sort of mausoleum of a church, something that Eivor found to be a bit odd and to be honest a bit weird. Truth be told, Eivor did not really pay attention to the church, and while a peasant he did not spend much of his time at the church. Religion was simply something that his family did not concern themselves with, nor did they really care about the matters and happenings of the various cardinals and whatnot. The cardinals, their bishops, and their nuns were simply never on his parent’s concern, nor his for that matter. Now, while a member of House Aurelius, that drastically changed. They were more active within the church than what Eivor was comfortable with.
With that being said and all. It wasn’t the fact that Eivor did not approve of the church, he admired their generosity to those in needs. But at the same time, in his own words, they were in a different world than him. Plus, Eivor could never understand why anyone would want to become a Cardinal, the position in his opinion, held no real authority. Granted, Eivor could have been wrong about that, and ignorant of the church- ignorance that Eivor would not deny. Nonetheless, when it came to helping out people, Eivor was all in. Eivor wanted to know a bit more about the mausoleum, but reasoned that, he could ask any questions that pop up to the leader of the expedition. After all, they would most likely know more. Eivor got dress in his usually attire, a pecan-colored loose fitting tunic, black pants, leather boots, and a belt that contained a satchel that rests his grimoire. Over his shoulders he wore the classical cape of the “Black Bulls”.
Eivor arrived a bit on the late side, primarily due to the fact that, well he walked to the location that everyone was supposed to meet. When he arrived, there had been two people already there, two people that Eivor honestly did not recognized. He held up his hand to wave them down. “Owi, I take it that one of you is the big boss, right?” he questioned as he approached them, something told him that the regal looking dude with really long white hair was the person in charge. The other guy looked a little too young to be a leader in this expedition, but he could be wrong. “Eivor Aurelius, reporting for duty!”

Having been rising in strength lately, the Church had decided that now was as good a time as any for the Spring Deacon to prove himself! Or at least that was what the Spring Deacon had initially thought as he had read over the letter detailing what his current orders were going to be. From the beginning of the letter, Thaddeus had thought himself to have been prepared to take on the next step towards becoming a Priest. The letter itself had held the seal of the Spring Bishop after all and that in and of itself had already been a rather impressive feat. "Heh... I suppose that they have finally recognized my tale-.. ehhh?" The self aggrandizing that had been taking place in the Spring Deacon's heart would immediately shatter as they had continued to read through the letter. From the looks of it, their current task of the day would have absolutely nothing to do with all of the hard work that they had been putting in for the church lately but everything to do with someone that they had dealt with as a one off. From the looks of things, the Vice Captain of the Crimson Lions had been attempting to bring them into the fold for something that the church was sending them to handle.
Thaddeus would be lying if he were to say that this hadn't bothered him. The fact that he was being invited to assist the church for someone outside of it.. The entire thing had felt wrong to a degree. Knowing that there was nothing that they could really do about any of this though, Thaddeus would simply shrug it all off and begin to get to work. There were several things that Thaddeus was going to have to do before the Vice Captain had arrived. To start off, Thaddeus was going to have to claim a key to the mausoleum from one of the other Deacons of the church. It wasn't as though Thaddeus didn't have a key of his own but that he had asked for someone to hold onto it for him as he had been rushing all around the kingdom. If he had been able to track down his partner, Drusilia, than he was sure that he could recover the key from her. "Honestly, where could she have gotten off to now? She spends almost every moment of every day by my side but the one time that I truly need her assistance and she goes missing? I swear..."
After having meandered about the halls of the church for a bit, Thaddeus would eventually find himself coming upon one of the several deacons that had inhabited the church along with him. The man hadn't exactly been Drusilia to say in the least but at least he was capable of assisting with the situation to some degree. "Hm... Brother Faustus, do you happen to know why it is that I am being requested to join a few Magic Knights on their journey to our church? Is there something that is happening that Prisha and Markus think that we can't handle?" The fact that Thaddeus had so freely referred to the Spring Bishop and Spring Cardinal by their first names had truly gone to show just how comfortable he had been within this specific church. Not only had it been the church that he was designated to, as a member of the Hoard of Gnome, but it was one of the only places in which he could feel comfortable. Of course it had highly helped that one of his clan elders had been the Spring Cardinal himself, whom had sent him off to begin his journey in the Church from the beginning.
Having taken notice of his fellow Spring Deacon approaching, Faustus would stop in his tracks and turn about so that he could properly face Thaddeus. "It's good to see you again Thaddeus. I understand that Prisha Santa Maria has you running all over the Clover Kingdom, yes? It makes sense as to why you wouldn't have heard everything that has been going on, what with you just coming back from another trip of yours and all. It's been crazy man..! For the last couple of days, there have been these strange noises coming from the mausoleum. It's gotten to the point that not only us deacons and nuns have heard it but the civilians as well! It's the craziest thing though.. Whenever we go to explore the place to make sure that there isn't anyone or anything down there, we just can't manage to find anything. Some people think that it might be ghosts... and seeing as how the Spears can't figure out what is going on, the higher ups have decided that it might be best to rely on the Magic Knights for now."
The most that Faustus had spoken on the situation at hand, the more that Thaddeus' cheeks would grow a deep tinge of red. The church had been sending him out so often as of late that he hadn't even been aware of these kinds of events unfolding within his own church... Perhaps he would never be able to reach the rank of Bishop or Cardinal like this. Even the rank of Priest had begun to seem rather away as Thaddeus had thought over just how easily this whole thing had seemed to slip beneath his nose. There were a million things that Thaddeus had wanted to say in this moment but it had begun to feel as though this wasn't the time for it. Now that he had found someone that had held a key to the mausoleum, Thaddeus would allow for a soft sigh to escape from his lips. "I see... It pains me to hear it but I suppose that that makes sense. The Bishop and the Cardinal are going to want to see results. Where these results are coming from likely doesn't matter as much to them. I suppose that I find myself in a debt to this Vice Captain now.. Thanks to him, I am going to be able to prove myself to the Church. I shan't allow for them to see me in a lesser light than how they should."
With that conversation now said and done, Thaddeus would begin to speed things up a bit. "I am going to have to go and meet up with these Magic Knights now... I suggest that you come along with me in the meantime so that you can preface them over everything that they are going to need to know. You'll handle the logistical issues on the outside and I'll go ahead and clean up whatever mess is going on downstairs on in inside." With a curt nod of agreement, the two Spring Deacons had decided to head out to the front of the Church, in which Thaddeus would encounter the growing group. From out of the three individuals that had currently been standing just before the church doors, Thaddeus had only recognized but a singular individual: Hania Ravencrest. "I apologize for the wait. Just had to get a few preparations underway before I could come and greet you all." The Dwarven Deacon would than gesture a hand out towards the group. "My name is Thaddeus Wilhelm and I suppose that for today, I shall act as your guide." The fact that only the Cardinals had been aware of the exact location of the Undercroft hadn't been something that Thaddeus had been too keen to bring up to the others. Hopefully he was the only one that had known as much. "Right, and I am Faustus. You may call me father of course."

Blessings counts towards the total of 4 buffs a person can have but costs no mana to cast or sustain. However, it can be decreased/removed by a hex debuff targeting the same stat (i.e. if you are blessed by a priest for +6 Power and a hex debuffs your power by -4, the buff will only count for +2 for the remainder of the thread; likewise, if you were to receive 2 debuffs focused on reducing Power by -4 each, then the buff is removed entirely).
"For a new generation to rise the former generation must fall."
This spear is made out of bone and stands around nine feet tall, the exact bone(s) used for the creation of this weapon isn't known upon first look. Upon a closer look, a person could likely assume that it was made out of the thigh bones of a large tanky animal. At least part of this is correct. There are also vertebrae of a spine at one feet intervals showing that this might not be an animal but a Human. This would be the right assessment. The tip of the spear is serrated and the best guess would be that it was made from perhaps a shoulder blade or arm. What it is bound in is unknown but it could pass as leather.
Lore:
Rites of passage are an important one within the many cultures. A show of strength. A challenge. It can change everything in an instant. Before the Shattering a young warrior challenged their father to become head of the clan, as was tradition the challenge was accepted and the fight commenced shortly after.
In the fight the former leader was permanently maimed making him weaker both physically and magically, just no one really knew how bad it had been at the time. The shattering happened sometime later and with that the next in line had vanished, no-one knew how or when it happened more to the point they had no idea if their clan head was still alive and if he was where he was or when he would return to them.
The former leader took on the leadership role once more uncontended by anyone. In the not to distant past another daemon attack happened, realising it was also a threat to his own clan the weakened warrior took up his spear and met the enemy head-on in the hopes to protect what he saw precious.
It had all been in vain, he had fought a tough battle but in his weakened state and with the sheer number of enemies attacking at once he was slain. After the dust had settled the dead were brought back to the clan where a blood festival happened and their bodies were 'tended' to as anything else that had died. Anything that couldn't be used was returned to the earth.
The wayward leader returned shortly after to find out his father, many of his family and clan had died to the hands of the daemons. He reclaimed his position and was given a semi ornate spear made from the bones of his own father. Father and son from that point on would continue to always fight together.

[attr="class","haniascroll"]As the ice mage moved from his carriage he noticed one of his juniors already waiting, this was indeed a surprise as he hadn't requested their presence. He put it down to their captain sending the other male to get some much-needed experience, he just hoped this Vermillion had more sense than his cousin but he wouldn't hold his breath as he didn't want to suffocate. "Leonard, call me lord again and I will be having you run one hundred laps around the entirety of the forsaken region." his tone was neutral the entire time but as they served in the same squad he would know the new head of the Ravencrest wasn't one to bluff and would make him do it. It was then that his suspicions had been confirmed, their captain had requested the other to come here and help. That was going to be frustrating he could tell.
It was then he said about others joining them "I know that a decon of this church will be as I specifically requested them, I am unsure there will be another. In honesty, I didn't even expect your presence so who knows what other surprises are to be sprung on me today." he could already feel the headache starting and this expedition into the mausoleum hadn't even started yet. He moved back into the carriage for a moment only to bring out something covered in spring green and gold silk. He was being careful how he was handling it but due to the covering, it wouldn't be known what was within the folds of the material. He had noticed the tone within his voice and silently sight "You are a Vermilion take some pride in yourself and get rid of the doubt in your voice." his tone still hadn't changed at all.
"You are a Crimson Lion to boot, how am I supposed to have faith in you to watch my back or someone else's if you don't have faith in yourself?" He understood going into situations with little information was jarring but it was part of their job. It was then he hear another voice and turned to look towards the new arrival. Just his luck it would have to be a black bull. So far, he had met only two people within that squad he didn't want to turn into ice sculptures and that included his cousin Ivy. "I would think that as a member of the Aurelius household you would know the nobility within Clover and as a member of the magic knights I would have thought you'd know each squad's captain and vice-captain." he said wondering if he was the black sheep of... well... everything.
"In case you missed that class, my name is Hania and I am the vice-captain of the Crimson Lions." he informed him "As I am the highest-ranked member here I will be taking lead, however, I have requested that a decon of this church to come with us out of respect for the church as a whole, their home in general and I believed it will put the churches mind at ease knowing that one of their own can verify our findings and make sure that we follow the rules they give." It really was as simple as that to him "I will preference this right now. We do not disturb the dead, we do not open or damage the caskets, we do not loot the dead, we do not go to areas deemed restricted." It was run-of-the-mill stuff but still, he felt like it needed to be said.
"Also, don't damage the mausoleum. This means no spells that can affect an area unless it is a map or illusion..." he said in general but then turned his eyes to his junior "And no offensive transformation." he finished knowing the male's magic could do a lot of damage if not kept under wraps. He had no idea if the two deacons had heard him speak to the pair beside him or not but that didn't matter in the long run. Hearing the apology the ice mage turned his attention towards Thaddius "Nonsense, you have tasks you must attend to and so if we needed to wait a little so be it." he said simply, being a vice-captain and the head of his family he knew that some duties needed tending to right away. "Oh, I thought this might be helpful for you in this endeavour." he said holding out the thing covered in silk towards the man.
"A gift for an up-and-coming star within the church." He had asked questions here and there since his last meeting Thaddeus finding out that his preferred weapon was a spear he had brought one with him. This was no ordinary spear but one that would become stronger over time, one that would become stronger than most items made today if he took the time to train with it. "It's called rite of passage, I could tell you some of its history later if you like." He didn't care if the other did or didn't but when the item was taken he would move his hands back to his side. "I hope the blessings of Gnome have found you this day Faustus." he said in a casual tone. Even though he didn't follow this faith he did respect it for what it was and believed that the wealth this faction of the churches preached about was more than just materials, but morals and values. This was why he had chosen the greeting he had to the other deacon.

[attr="class","silasreescroll"] Leonard furrowed his brow. Was he not supposed to show respect to someone older in both age, rank and status? He shuffled on the spot, not really knowing what to do or say. He probably wasn't in the best of terms with the Vice captain and it showed. He wasn't supposed to be there. Of course, he had no business being there at all. That and the whole thing about doubting himself and all the other things Hania said. I mean all the berating he was doing didn't really help him either. He was a Vermillion, true, but lately he had been struggling with himself and his lack of power. Taiyo had surpassed him in strenght and so had the other once rookies in the Lions. He was making process, but much like lava, he was a slow burner kinda type. Apparently that wasn't good enough, given that everyone was pushing him to be stronger and kicking him down because he was not. [break][break]
"Hmm. Right. Understood." Was all he could say to everything. To top it all off, he wasn't allowed to use ANY of his magic. How was he supposed to defend himself from the things coming at him then? With thoughts and a prayer? If he wasn't already internally seething he sure as hell was seething now. That was the main problem, how was he supposed to get stronger if he was never allowed to use his magic in the first place! He'd grip his bow tighter and just...passively acknowledged orders. Since he was there now and he couldn't really go back he'd just bear with the situation, wait until it was resolved and then just go back home. Hania straight up sucked away any happiness he might have had. Fitting, considering the captain was an ice mage. [break][break]
He barely knew the other guys and at that moment he wasn't in the mood to make friends or acquaintances at all. If anything, the other people there got Hania off his case, which was probably the best thing that had happened up to that point. Left him time to actually think about the mission...and a way for him to not get killed while following Hania's asinine orders. [break][break]
Remaining indifferent to the Black Bull and then the pair of church members, Leo decided to avoid conversation by checking his gear instead. He started by looking at his open toed boots, making sure his belts were fastened the right way, moving onto checking his gear and bow. Finally, he would make sure to open his Grimoire and flip through the pages, mostly just to pass time. They were bound to get inside the place in any case. If he could do so without having to waste any more of his breath. [break][break]

EIVOR AURELIUS - JUNIOR 5th CLASS - BLACK BULLS
Per usual, Eivor felt like some sort of black sheep. This time, however, Eivor wondered if it was due to his status as a “Black Bull” or because he had not been naturally born into a noble household. Whatever the case, it was difficult to tell what the reason was this time, but, if Eivor had to guess it was probably a combination of both factors. Nonetheless, as the young magic knight drew closer to the collection of knights, Eivor started to recognize a couple of faces within the group- primarily Hania, whose reputation preceded him. Eivor simply ignored the jab that Hania made towards him, deciding that it was better to keep his mouth shut, rather than say something smart and get himself in trouble. Something that he learned how to do during his training within House Aurelius, was to keep his mouth shut when smart butt ‘greater’ nobles decided to make a snide remark. Honestly, while Eivor was grateful to the noble house for taking care of him, but he hated the sense of servitude, and even more importantly, Eivor hated that he could not talk about this hatred and discomfort. The young storm knight simply sighed in defeat and rolled his eyes.
The dude with red hair honestly did not seem all that interested in making conversation with anyone, even as the deacon showed up. Eivor scoffed at that, and silently labeled him as a sour puss, and decided that he wouldn’t pay attention to him unless necessary. Hania went on about the regulations, and quote on quote, deeper detail of the mission. Don’t disturb the dead, don’t open, or damage the caskets, don’t go into restricted areas, don’t damage the mausoleum, and no spells that can affect an area. The last bit admittedly caught Eivor off guard, and his heart skipped a beat or two in surprise. Besides that, Eivor found that the other regulations and whatnot were a bit obvious.
“Wait what do you mean no spells that affect an area?” Eivor asked, blinking one or two times in what could appear to be shocked, or irritation clearly painted on his face. “Does that mean all spells? What about spells that affect an area, but don’t exactly damage it? Or spells that cause minimum damage?” there was a note of frustration in his voice, but also a tone of concern and anxiousness. It was clearly obvious that the usually calm and collected Eivor Aurelius was somewhat anxious or even fearful about entering into the catacombs. “Hopefully there would not be much in the way of monsters and whatnot” He murmured under his breath and folded his arms over his chest. Eivor silently made a mental note to find alternative means of defending himself besides his magic later on, because currently right now Eivor leaned a bit too heavily on his unique magic. After a while, Eivor muttered an “understood”. As the deacon arrived at the group, Eivor fell silent, and simply chose to sulk in the background.

Having finally met up with the magic knights that were going to be assisting him in this particular endeavor, Thaddeus would find himself face to face with Hania. This was an individual whom had held quite a bit of respect within the world due to various reasons and yet Thaddeus had a rather difficult time determining how to feel about the man. Their previous interactions had been that of a.. different nature, so to speak. Now they were to be working together to try and handle a task that the church was sending them on. Not wishing to disappoint his higher ups, Thaddeus had decided that it would be best to try and work together with the man. Even with that being the case though, never in a million years would he have assumed that the Vice Captain of the Crimson Lions was going to impart a gift upon him.
Completely caught off guard by this display, Thaddeus had hesitatingly reached out and grasped the silk cloaked object that was being given to him. It had stood at about nine feet tall and seemed to have been some kind of stick at the beginning. Taking the time to remove the silk from the object, Thaddeus' eyes would go wide upon seeing just what it was that had been given to him. If he wasn't mistaken, the object that was within his grasp had been some kind of.. bone spear? Although it was rather difficult to determine the origin of the bones, upon further inspection, it would seem as though it had previously dwelled within some kind of large and tanky animal. Perhaps the thigh bones? He would have to further inspect it later on to try and determine just what it was that this thing had consisted of. At the moment, there just wasn't enough time.
Still kind of honestly unsure how to react to the gift, the Spring Deacon would force a smile and bring his attention back towards the Vice Captain. "I see... Rite of Passage, huh? I'm sure that we shall find the time to talk about it in the future. Thank you Hania." Not wishing for things to grow any more awkward than they already had, Faustus would reach out and lightly place a hand on Thaddeus' shoulder. "That's quite the gift that they are giving you there, Thaddeus, so you should be sure to cherish it." A curt nod is all that the Spring Deacon would offer in response to his fellow Deacon. "Of course, Faustus."
Now that that situation had been taken care of, Brother Faustus would return his attention back to the magic knights that were going to be partaking in this particular expedition of the church. "And I hope that they continue to find you, Sir Hania. Of course now that everyone is here, I suppose that we shall get moving, yes?" Everyone had now been gathered together and could be escorted properly to the location in which they were supposed to be inspecting. With that having been the case, Brother Faustus would proceed to take charge of the group and would begin to make headway towards the mausoleum. It would take a few minutes for the group to eventually arrive at the door to the mausoleum but once they had been just outside of it, Brother Faustus would nod to them. "I must ask that you all mind yourselves while you are down there. There shall be no looting of the coffins, no destruction of property, and no floundering about with the corpses. The Church has every intention of keeping the things and the people below protected so please... Be sure to follow our rules." It was quite clear that this message was more so intended for the magic knights than anything else. Even with that having been the case though, Brother Faustus was sure to keep a steady gaze on every member of the small adventuring party, so as to no leave anyone out.
"Not to worry, Brother Faustus. I am certain that everything will be just fine on our end. The Vi-.. Hania is quite the individual after all." Thaddeus' gaze would slightly turn back towards Hania before ultimately swiveling back to the Deacon. "Be sure to close the door behind us, if you please. Hopefully this won't take too long. Just.. Keep an ear out if anything. There is no telling what we actually have down in the Mausoleum at the moment." Brother Faustus would agree to this before waiting for any last words from the group. Once they had all proceeded inside, he would be sure to follow his orders and shut the door behind the group.
