Kreig had been training like crazy for the past weeks, putting his all into his final leg of training. Honestly there had been little time taken to do anything but train spells, his speed and to eat or sleep. Even though he found trouble in sleeping, he still kept training through it, forcing his body to fatigue so he could fall back asleep. Today he wanted to take a break from everything spell related and anything dealing with missions or knight related. Today was all about the body. Kreig really wanted to go to the hot springs and immerse himself in the water and it's warm temperature and relax but the time to relax his muscles was far from being available. He planned on staying at the training fields until he turned into a speed god, and would not rest until he had achieved what he set out for.
His spell mastery had been trained recently, one reason for the added reduction to his techniques and the other to make his path to becoming a world renown magic knight better. Kreig did not wish to train anything else, so would finish with speed as it would give him the greatest offensive power when using physical attacks, short ranged spell and his hex style. But how he would train it was the real question. Who would be good to ask? Yuurei no doubt was probably one of the fastest people in his little world, but Kreig was sure the level of speed he wanted to hit was the highest in the village. Kreig would have to do this level of training on his own, hitting new heights would have to be a personal gain.
Even though he started out warming up by running in the trees to increase both his flexibility and movement Kreig had to take it to the next level. The training started out slow, but running through the trees easily taught him how to use his speed in bursts, covering the massive ground of the forests in the water country with ease. As he scaled from free to tree, he mentally prepared himself to go beyond his limits. He knew he would not be the quickest or strongest in the world, but he did not wish to get left behind at too far of a distance from the greats in the world. If this journey would take him to new heights, he would not want to be left climbing and climbing at the top. Kreig had the be the one to set the bar and raise the standard.
When it was time for him to increase his speed, he leaped into a forest with trees scattered far apart. He was just warming up now, not feeling anything in his yet, but he knew the pain was soon to come. He easily increased his speed, doubling by bouncing to the next tree. The next tree after was farther, about four times the length of the first jump. The trick was simply preparing the body by thinking quickly. Even though he knew he could move fast, by being able to think fast he could better control his speed. The perceptive ability combined with his natural talent for evasiveness made thinking, seeing and moving very easy. Kreig pushed himself harder and harder trying to keep up. In a sense he was shadow racing his own self, just like shadow boxing. In shadow boxing one imagines an invisible shadow opponent to fight, one always better than you, always keeping you on the ropes. But Kreig's mind was filled with one who was constantly moving quicker than him, forcing him to keep up, letting him know that he was slow.
He focused on his muscles, the muscles that were still growing in his body. He forced this quads and hamstrings to move, his calves to flex and even his hip flexors for maximum movement as his speed began to increase. A quick explosion of speed began to rocket him to new heights and he began to reach his shadow opponent, slowly but surely. He imagined the shadow looking over at him with a face full of awe to lull him into thinking he was fast, only to take off and step it up some more. Kreig would not give up. In a swift motion, Kreig's shadow opponent jumped five trees as if he had been sandbagging the entire time. Kreig focused an even larger amount of energy into his muscles and began to feel as if his body was moving on its own.
The pain was there, and he could feel himself going faster than he'd gone before, but what he realized was the pain was not that strong. He closed to distance to his shadow opponent, feeling the world tunnel around him as if nature itself were just a blur through time. With his mind working, he could see everything, and read everything, and his body could move fluidly. There was freedom in this level of speed, a new level of speed so fast that he could no longer feel as if his body was mere human flesh. Kreig was hitting a level of natural speed that could be described as super human. The race between the trees was creeping on about an hour and a half long when the warning signs began to appear. Kreig didn't slow down at all, and kept his speed high moving his body and not losing his shadow opponent. It was slowly but surely that he began to see clear and began to notice his speed become more accurate. Placing his body became easy, became so fluid that he felt as if no one could keep up with him. His energy in his legs almost felt non existent, merely replaced by the feeling of the ground washing under his soles and toes. He kept going, the next level right before his eyes. It was almost as if he was in a sort of dream. The shadow opponent in front of him began to increase the speed even more, definitely surpassing what he thought was considered as fast. Now they were on a new level. This level many times faster than peers that were untalented in the arts of the body. The level of god speed.
Kreig's shadow opponent started to move in blurs, just flashes as if for a second Kreig couldn't see him. Kreig channeled the energy into his legs and began to continue as they hit the ground running, jumping from the trees. Kreig remembered everything, not even forsaking his stealth and keeping his body poised as if he were an assassin. The new level fo speed was about ninety percent but they increased it even more now that he was running on flat land. He could feel an area around him began to warp itself and form itself around his body. He raised up his thigh and bent his nee and then extended hit so his sole could be placed properly on the ground. Kreig repeated this process with the other leg in a locomotive fashion driving himself to one hundred percent. Even with his shadow opponent ahead of him, Kreig knew he could not increase in speed any longer. They were evenly matched. Now Kreig just had to keep this level of speed up. Controlling his breathing wasn't even hard at this level, the motion was so fast the body still didn't even register how fast he was going exactly.
The moving animals around him looked slow. Squirrels moving with slow progress, making their way up trees in slow motion while Kreig saw them for a split second and continued on to the next. He pressed on continuing. Kreig didn't allow his body to slow down his speed, traveling at the maximum speed possible at an insane rate. His arms are steady at his sides, using the muscles in his back to guide them so he can continue to floor himself. All those push ups, those core exercises that he had trained forever came in play here. The core was much more than he thought it was when it came to running. Most people assume the abs are simply there to look sexy or to help with strength exercises but in speed it was everything. His power and his balance, his control of his body all came from his core. With the strength bracing itself in his abs he could push himself to stay at this speed.
Inhaling and exhaling through his nose, Kreig continued until his shadow opponent took it to the final level. Kreig continued running, the world around him nothing more than clips and short pictures. Each picture was clear as his level of perception was so high, but Kreig would not focus on anything other than the shadow opponent now putting moves on him. His shadow opponent would move and try to juke him through any area, daring him to slow down around obstacles even though they were running in a straight line. Kreig realized that even though he could run in such a path, he could still move his body somewhat, without sacrificing his core. This level of speed was almost untraceable and even though opponents with eyes like him and other abilities might be able to see him, at this level of speed it would be hard to react.
The thing about Kreig was not using this level of speed himself though. It was far too dangerous. No Kreig needed his clones to use this level of speed. That's why he'd spent time learning spell mastery. By using a bunshin and keeping his speed maximum, he could take his opponent or attack them with high level spell using blitz moves that were extremely fast and hard to read. With his stealth ability intact, he would be silent and soundless until the last second, and using weaponry would almost make him nigh impossible to battle against as a simple kunai running at this level of almost blink speed would spell certain death.
Even the ability to use an exploding clone would cause so much damage. Not to mention he could still use the clone as a tackle attack, to ram the opponent of balance, grapple the opponent with the clone, or run at speeds so high that the clone might simply explode upon contact. Speed was deadly. Even though he thought about learning evasiveness to make him nigh impossible to catch, speed was the real threat. It packed the element of surprise that evasiveness did not have. Kreig was as assassin, he had to remember that and focus on assassinating so fast, the fight didn't seem far. Even though he wanted to be fair in his battles to enjoy them, straying from his assassin nature would only draw out the battle and make him weaker just like his fight versus Tekzuki.
The final stretch of land was up ahead in few, quickly filling himself into it as the edge of the massive plain came to a sharp end, the forest drawing near and near. Even though the forest was thick with trees and foliage there would be a clear path in which he could slow down before injuring himself. Kreig moved and kept his speed so high, in his mind his shadow opponent would have to be getting tired by now. His body screamed for him to stop the insanity to slow down and let the pain all flow out of him. He knew at this point slowing down would be asinine and stopping too fast would cause almost fatal amounts of damage to his body. He pushed his legs into overdrive to stop himself from slowing down, sprinting the final distance with the same effort that a fat man might to change his life. It was now or never Kreig would not give up.
As he closed the distance Kreig raced to a speed so high he felt as if the thought had not truly left his mind yet. Kreig's body pushed himself past the finish line into the forests, slowly coming to a halt as he had achieved his new level of speed. As Kreig slowed down, his shadow opponent would disappear, leaving him alone with the elements as it took almost several meters to stop. Kreig found a nice tree to jump into, using the bounding motion and gravity to slow himself instead of coming to a halt on the ground. At the end of it, Kreig used his remaining speed to jump into the trees and take in the view. The world ahead of him lying naked, ready for him to explore it. Soon. Kreig was done and the world would know it too.
