Advent seemed to be ignored as he had, had his question leaving as dumbfounded as to what it was in the beginning. He had no idea if it was a good or bad thing, he really hoped it was the former over the later, he had gone up to a few of the others that seemed like they would be trying to do this exam thing to get one of these oh-so coveted positions. He, of course, had done this while the other captains had been making speeches, he was, of course, met with people either avoiding him, calling him a fool or an idiot for signing up in the first place. A few had even looked at him in disbelief asking him if he had been living under a rock as everyone knew what a magic knight was, he just replied why would he want to live under a rock, unless that's what they called houses. He wanted to say that he had been raised in a forest but had a feeling that would just be opening up another can of worms or another wave of insults if he wanted either of those he could easily just go home now and be done with it. He hadn't travelled for months to get to this awful place to get the same treatment he could have at home.
"I hate these people, I want to go home." he groaned quietly
"Matray, you can't. Not yet, remember your promise to us."
"Ugh, I know but it doesn't make it any easier." he huffed sitting down waiting for his number to be called.
He knew he only had a few spells and whatever this was he didn't know if it would be enough, from the speeches the people who had entered needed to impress those on high that had some strong and quite frankly scary mana. He couldn't help but wonder what would happen to him if he failed to impress them, would they let the failures go or was their worse punishments awaiting them? He had no idea and honestly didn't want to think upon it, he had really wished Cinna was around so he felt better. She had explained the whole thing about the grimoire awarding ceremony when everyone had been snickering at him and bad-mouthing him. He was going to show them, he had no clue what he was going to show them but he was going to show them something.
"Advent!" a voice called out loudly
"Yes? Do you need something?" he asked his voice sounded quite quizzical
"You're up" the man answered
"I'm not up to anything, honest, I'm just sat here minding my own business." he said sounding like a child that had been caught plotting how to steal a cookie from the cookie jar just before dinner.
"Well, that makes a change doesn't it."
"Hay that's unfair!"
The person who had been sent to get him stood there as the white-haired teen seemed to have a slight meltdown in front of him believing that he had escaped a mental health institute "Are you for real? You know what don't answer that." the man sounded beyond frustrated at this point
"You have been called to for the solo section of the exam." his associate took over explaining patting him on the shoulder
"Well, why didn't he say that? By the way... what is a magic knight?" he asked again hoping he would get an answer this time
"You'll find out if you're accepted now go and show off your spells, not all the captains have patience." the young woman chuckled
Advent blinked for a moment believing it was some sort of secret organisation that you only got the information if you managed to get approval, that was fine for him because he honestly didn't care one way or the other. If he was accepted he might get his question answered finally but if he didn't oh well, he would just go fulfil his promise. Standing up he dusted himself off, the woman was ready to escort him to the centre but he turned his head to her and grinned happily as if he could see her perfectly.
"There is really no need for that, I managed to get here after all, so pretty sure I can find my way into the centre of that arena thinger. Thanks though." he said running into the centre being met with five magic knights.
"Oh right, you guys are basically my training dummies. Got it." he hadn't even turned to look at them until that point that was, he leant forward.
"One of you people are going to get hurt so I can use one of my spells but that can wait until a little bit later, so if you lot wouldn't mind going and standing over there somewhere." he said pointing in a random direction, allowing them to move away from him as they believed they wouldn't be needed at that point.
At that same moment he only slightly lifted his foot, most people wouldn't have noticed the fact he had even moved it at all the movement was that subtle. Again he made two subtle taps from the raised left foot which would have been a little more noticeable but if you blinked you would have missed it. He then set his foot down knowing that he had activated his spell listening to everything that the five magic knights were whispering amongst themselves about himself and some of the other people they had to be the assistants of, they were pretty sure that he was going to fail and no squad would want him.
Advent then raised his hand "Hey! you! Big guy... what is a squad and why wouldn't any of them want me?" he called over to the lot of them.
"And I'll have you know the vines of that nature mage will be of great assistance in the future! Don't underestimate those at the beginning of their journeys because those at the bottom or seem weak could one-day ascend to something people like you could never comprehend!" It was clear as crystal they had hit a nerve with the white-haired teen.
One way to get on his nerves was to bully or bad mouth others, he couldn't care if people did it to him, he was use to that from some of his parents but he had heard the nature mage and how nervous she had been to even attempt trying to get into the Blue Roses. He honestly didn't care if he looked bad in the eyes of the people he was trying to impress, he had a strong moral compass and they had struck it. The five magic knights eyes went wide not expecting the youth's outburst their eyes going to the captains and the vice-captains before going back to him as they tried to figure out how he knew what they had been saying. They had been whispering and he was too far away from them to overhear them, with the blindfold on there was no way he would have been able to read their lips.
"H-how..." the one Advent called out
Advent just leaned forward a little and grinned as if he had won something "Secret..."
The man who had been caught in his conversation and truly happy that he was likely going to get into trouble for determining what a captain would and wouldn't do with certain people moved forward making Advent step back, he could feel the flare of magic, he wasn't really prepared for this but started to draw in the particles of moisture within the air creating a light mist around his body. He knew there was going to be no way that he was going to be quick enough to dodge the silver sword that was being created in the man's hand, nor would his mist be condensed enough for him to slip away so he ended up with a very nice gash across his arm making him wince holding where he was hurt he jamp back before a second hit could land upon him. Before long the mist was thick enough to dull the ability to see himself and the one who was attacking him, Advent used this to his advantage and moved to the other four keeping his hand on the wound. Before long the magic knight that seemed to have gone off the deep end had been restrained by a higher-ranked one and taken away from the arena, it was only then Advent had dropped his spell standing behind the other four.
"Tch... That hurt..." he said his head looking to where he felt a harsh sting, one of the knights turned to try and heal him but he pulled away shaking his head.
"Thanks but no thanks." his voice was harsh it was clear he was annoyed for doing what he was told and being hurt for his efforts.
He flicked the hand slightly that was holding onto the cut with beneath his feet a light blue and white magic circle appeared under his feet, a light mist appeared around his body, a sigh of relief escaped his mouth as he started to feel the pain ebb from the wound as the skin started to knit together.
"Pretty sure that blade was poisoned." he said more to himself than others.
"It was, do you need assistance?" the woman who tried to help him the first time asked
Advent shook his head "Nah, the spell can deal with that kinda thing too..." his cheery voice returning once more now he wasn't feeling the pain.
Just so he could show off a little bit more he split his magic circle underneath the others near him and walked off showing he could heal multiple targets at once before taking his spot once more.
