Note to self: just because a person introduces themselves as a witch doesn't mean they are a WICKED WITCH.

When Shitai volunteered to go on this little mission, she figured that with Amara being a witch that they'd be spying or stealing something from the Nobel region due to the rarity rogue sorcerer's get to even see the region safely. But instead of using the freedom as an excuse to commit minor crimes they are supposed to help the library slave with organizing books or something. If it wasn't for the fact that she could spy (and her pockets being empty) Shita would've rejected the small job that's probably paying below the minimum wage. The hag using her staff as a walking stick followed in behind Amara, the elder thinking nothing more than how to save this up incoming witch from a dull.. regular life. After all, if Shita was going to be a Planetary Overlord she was going to need a few minions to collect bodies for her. People aren't always blessed with an evil environment, so what she needs was something to plant evil within her then let it grow into a dripping, festering– well you get the point.

All right, Miss Prissy, I think it's time for learning a few ground rules if you wish to actually be someone today." said the hag, raising up a finger as they approached the library. "Rule number one: I do the talking since I'm meaner. Rule number two: your opinion (unless it makes someone else miserable or you're perfecting my plan for world domination) doesn't matter. Rule Three: if you kill anything and I do mean anything no matter how small. Bring the body to me so I can use it to make a MONSTER! That's the most important rule." With that the duo entered the library, then Shitai looked around to find the slave, or who she thought to be a slave would be so she could inform him that the job is now being done right now. When they found the library slave he was, needless to say, just what you'd expect someone who is making minimum wage would look like. A geek with wireframe glasses with a grotesque fat blobby body and gray hair. If he was to grow out a long beard and wear red Shitai would've mistaken the slave for being a Santa impersonator. Approaching the slave, the with pointed at the librarian. "Hey tubby! You requested someone to fix this junk heep!" yelled the witch from across the room as she moved closer to get a better look at the slave. It was no wonder he needed help fixing the library, honestly why didn't they give the title of librarian to someone more fit and healthy. When she rules the world, she'll need to make a few policies to make it harder people like this to find work. Perhaps jobs by weight like boxing.

"I am Shitai Itai, future Planetary Overlord." she introduced herself. "Me and my imbecile partner wish to take the work of fixing these books. And we will take the job by force if necessary. You will be paying us (namely me) for our services and have our money ready by the time we are done with interest or I'll be checking you out of your existence… permanently." the witch threatened the librarian, snapping her fingers as a signal for Amara to get to work since Shita already sealed the deal with the slave. There wasn't any reason that she should actually work now was there?

Amara had managed to keep the promise she made to herself of making sure that she traveled from her orphanage home in the township of Raque to the Grand Magic Archives in the Royal Capital at least once every few days. Getting permission from Headmaster Grimante was an easy matter once Amara had managed to make a name for herself with her cover and spread in The Conversationalist. Having one associated with such a well respected business living under his roof brought a positive attention he’d surely be rewarded for.

She maintained the practice of traveling here to add to her knowledge after having received her magical tome a couple of weeks earlier. She’d taken her flying skills to new heights with each back and forth trip. Her studies expanded into too many topics to count. Among other things, she took up varying levels of interests in magical affinity research which helped her decipher the mysteries of her unique Thought Magic, pedagogy of spell development which helped her understand how new spells are developed across disciplines, and the evolution of magical fighting so that when the day came she would at least have the theory of fighting in her back pocket. While all of these helped her to strengthen the connection she had with her grimoire, one text in particular truly captured her interest. “The Art of Magical Warfare” by Tun Szu was a dense text, just as large as her grimoire.

She’d been reading it for weeks and yet still had yet to finish it. There was a wealth of information contained within its pages and it allowed he to begin to view violence as more than just a senseless act. As the title suggested, violence truly could be viewed through a creative lens the likes of her clothing and jewelry making. Just like she had to carefully plan and lay each stitch, violence needed to be carefully calculated and planned. She was excited to pick up where she left off last when she received word that the new volunteer would be arriving. Aside from the countless books and research papers on any subject she could imagine, the head librarian promised her a stipend for all of her hard work. Today marked the end of that work period. Not only that, but today marked the first day that his Help Wanted posting received a response.

Amara waited outside and met with the volunteer. The woman, Shitai, identified as a witch. She was a short and stout woman. She had extremely long grey hair which she kept up in a horned style.

After initial introductions, Amara found the woman to be an interesting character. She spoke of dead things, monsters, and world domination before the two made their way inside.

The woman had a knack for name calling in a way that was more confusing and even entertaining than offensive. Upon entering the building Shitai called the head librarian tubby and Amara an imbecile. Amara and the man looked at eachother blankly for a couple of seconds, a silent acknowledgement of the awkwardness they’d both just been experienced.

Head librarian nodded to the woman and Amara, prompting Amara to begin describing the locations of the different book and scholarly article locations. The job was straightforward and easy once one understood the system for shelving books. Amara explained the system for reshelving as it was once explained to her.

And so it was that Amara ended her brief meeting with Shitai by pointing her to the newest magic research from Babel, the township at the cutting edge of the field. The two would meet up again shortly as time did seem to go at a faster pace in this place. Or perhaps it was just Amara’s love for learning.
