Thanks to her studies on the subject of Pedagogy of Spell Development the new magician was able to quickly discover the best method of developing new spells for herself. After only having had her grimoire for three weeks, she had a breakthrough. Early on Amara discovered that her grimoire reacts to thought on a more sensitive level than is usual. And so it was that a day spent focusing, refining her thoughts, sharpening her magical awareness led to the authoring of “Chapter 1- Thought Magic: Sharp Mental Focus”.
The spell was absolutely beautiful. The air itself around the young women seemed to shimmer and crack like splintering glass about to burst. However, from the shattering of sparkling air, an artisanal blade of potentially deadly sharpness emerged. Only its edge gave away its sword like shape as each time the blade moved, its edge sang with a blissful brilliance.
The very next day she took to combining the spell with another skillset she’d been developing for the better part of a year; flying atop broomstick.
She’d been practicing all day. It was no easy task maintaining the spell, predicting, and altering the trajectory of the dancing sword edge that it created. Or at least, it would have been no easy task, were it anyone other than Amara. Combining all of this with the concentration it took to control her altitude and direction while flying was challenging for the first minute or so, however, once she got the hang of the fine mana control she could do it with her eyes closed.
She maintained her spell “Thought Magic: Sharp Mental Focus” while flying above the courtyard, brushing the treetops and then dipping below them at just the right moment to cut wooden targets strung throughout.
Her self directed practice lessons did not go without notice. She drew a crowd of her peers who’d given up on developing their own practice and focused their attention on her. Many looked on with admiration. Others looked on with the sting of defeat, knowing that they would never master that level of skill, at least not in the time they had until the next Magic Knight Exams.
Eventually, she was called to cut her applied studies short. Everyone in the courtyard knew why, and Amara was no exception. It was rumored that Headmaster Grimante was going to begin handing out community service tasks early, or rather, Amara would be given tasks early. The jobs are usually those which are important to citizens, but too mundane for Magic Knights to bother with. Orphanage administration doesn’t usually begin giving these tasks to newly affirmed magicians until six months after they receive their magical tomes. This is both to assure they have enough time to develop needed spells, and make sure that they have enough real life experience before the Magic Knight Exams.
Ms. Corinne was acting head administrator in Headmaster Grimnate’s stead while he was away on urgent business. Many youths in the raque branch of the Clover Kingdom state Orphanage believed that he was being promoted into another position in government. Amara hoped that wasn’t the case. There were very few within the ranks of the administration that she could trust. Not because they were good people, but because they didn’t stand anything to gain from seeing her fail.
Ms. Corinne however had several charges under her care that she’d hoped to see met with all manner of success. And as Amara was not one of her pupils, she knew that it was only a matter of time before the woman made her move to get Amara out of the way and assure that she wouldn’t catch the interest of nobles or institutions of power who might otherwise take up interest in the youth that she herself indoctrinated. This woman would have to find some way to remove Amara from play to allow her charges to shine, without taking her life, which she was now in charge of as acting Headmistress. Amara was such a skilled learner that the line between these two things was a fine one only the most skilled schemers dare walk.
When Ms. Corinne first handed the community service task to Amara, the young woman took it at face value. She admitted that this wasn’t the original community service task that Headmaster Grimante had selected for her. She assumed that Ms. Corrine sought to wear her out by sending her to the far away township of Nairn. The excuse that the old woman gave was that the Nairn branch was so backed up that they had begun sending their overflow to other branches.
The mission seemed simple enough. An older woman needed help finding lost jewelry.
Amara departed for Nairn after spending a day in Kikka catching up with the youths at her former place of residence. The journey took the better part of a day despite the fact that she flew at her top speed.. Though she left in the early morning, she didn’t arrive at her destination until more than an hour past noon.
Finding the residence of the old woman who made the request was easy enough, however she wasn’t home. Her neighbors informed Amara that she spent her days by Nairn Lake looking out over its waters. Apparently, though many had tried, no one had ever been able to find what she was looking for in the lake.
Amara found the lake that the old woman’s neighbors spoke of and travelled its shores looking for her. As she flew, she grew more and more suspicious of the circumstances surrounding this task. What was Ms. Corrine thinking? If no one else could find this treasure, why would she be the one to do it? Maybe she really was just trying to simply drain Amara? Or maybe there was something more to this that she had yet to uncover? In any case, she would have to proceed with caution.

[attr="class","box3"] Akaza's first mission went about as good as one could get. He along with another had taken down a bear that lived near his residential area. Things were really coming along for him as for completing such a mission his names had started to generate a small buzz amongst the lower class resident of the Clover Kingdom. Today however would be a new task at hand. A task so simple yet endangering and memorable. One sure to have his name rise up within the nobile ears and once there he could start on his personal goal to save his child's life. As basic as it may sound, this is how the day would go.
Akaza had awaken from his deep slumber within the trees of the common region. The travel wasn't too far from the bear killed the previous day. His intention were to take some of it hyde to the royal capital in search for the bounty. He yawned while reaching his hands into sky causing his back to crackle and pop. Auuuhhh. Now, which way do I go from here?Akaza questioned himself as he took out a map to read. Looks like I'm only about 2 kilometers out from my destination. That was probably the only good news of the day. He proceeds to close his book and gather his things to make way. Hammer check, bow check, grimoire check, and bears hyde check. Looks like that's everything. Off into the city I go.
About half way through his walk it was time for Akaza to take a break. Carrying the bears hyde wasn't as easy as one would think it would be. He saw what seemed like a resting spot for adventurers like himself. He decided to go inside just to give his feet a rest and possibly drink a few drinks. As he approached the counter he slams down the hyde onto a stool nearest to himself. Drink five-hundred yul. Sleep one-thousand Yul. The first words Akaza heard came from a bartender. As he went to reach for his pockets he'd notice that he had very little so the response of of the typical. Yea, about that. I'm not going to be sleeping for a while it's just mid day. He rubbed the back of his neck. How about I just try out one of those house drinks you're talking about. He began to skim over his money knowing full well that he was low on fund. Alright then, here you go. The bartender slams the drink on the table. That'll be five-hundred yul. Akaza scraped through what would be the last of his coin and pay the tender.
As he sat there and drank his beverage he couldn't help but notice how awful it was to his taste buds. They really make people pay five-hundorange yul for this? He thought to himself. Slowly sipping trying not puke he would notice a small group of travelers come in from behind gossiping about their personal folklore. It was obvious the lot of them were a bunch of liars. Then they would all talk about what they were planning on doing later that day. A story was told of an elderly lady who, dropped a valuable treasure in a box within a lake nearby. It was said that it didn't matter who tried to reach it they the person would failed. Then they went on to talk about what could possible be inside to the treasured box and how it could change their daily lives. This thought caught the attention of Akaza the most as he was in need of the funds but the possibility of failure would only set him back. A decision was made. Hey!! Akaza yelled loud enough to quiet the group catching their attention. Is the story true? The one about the old lady and a treasure box. The men were all silenced, all but the one who decided to speak up. As far as I know yea. What are you planning to go get it? Fair warning, all who have tried has failed and failure for them meant death. No problem though you got it right. This was the man's attempt to mock Akaza and keep him away from the treasure that he was trying to get. Ignoring that feeble attempt to stay away from the treasure box Akaza left the stop along with his bear's hyde at the bar counter. He figuorange that he'll to put his life on the line if it meant the exchange of his daughter survival.
Making his way to the location of the lake many of thing would go through his mind. I really hope that this is true. It would be ashame if I venture out here and this turns out to be a lie. He begin to doubt the very outcome. It wasn't too long before he had reach the destination. A large body of water clean and clear visible to the eye. It didn't look as bad as what them men were explaining. They mentioned that some type of monsters would be around for those that enter the lake without permission. This didn't bother Akaza too much as he had the journey anyways but it could provide a bit of danger into something that would seem to be relatively easy from the looks of it. He then would scan the area in hopes of finding someone or anyone that could provide further information on this treasure. As he scanned he noticed a young lady in the not too far distance. Hey!! Hey!! You on the broom!! He screamed in hopes to capture her attention.
