Titaniya would sit there for a bit, her hands together being used to rest her chin on and of course her hat is hanging off her back as of current. The large girl would listen to the other girl’s reasoning while also trying to get a read on their face and posture. From what the girl could tell the claimed it was just them not expecting it but there were definitely signs of frustration and maybe something else under the mantis girl’s act. From this Titaniya got the sense that there was something more to the answer the girl gave.
After a small time the girl would then add to her answer talking herself up on how its not like they would back down from anything, they would then seem to accidentally open up a bit more about how they want to be able to actually be of help to people, only to then cover it up again with more attitude.
The girl would then pose the all so fun question of why Titaniya was strong, something she would not have the greatest time explaining, but she would do her best. So as the dark titan started to speak she stood up to walk over to the felled boar and go about hauling it up, just sorta lifting it over her shoulder to walk a bit off the path, using her free hand to gesture for the other girl to follow, best to not set up a campfire on the path.
“Well, mostly out of some necessity, my magic when I was younger was not the strongest thing. My sister liked to sneak out alot, and I of course would go about helping them do so. I found the best way to let them sneak out as to be a good distraction.” she would start to set up a firepit using non spell magic to clear the pit and set up obsidian stones as the surrounding for it. “Cant be a good distraction if I end up subdued right away. So because my magic at the time could not hold a candle to others, I went more in on physical strength.” she explained “However if you want a more internal reasoning it would just be my personality. Unmovable in my opinions and decisions.”
After getting the fire started up she would move to stomp, as she did a large pillar with a ten foot diameter and eight feet tall made out of obsidian would be made “Now then I want you to break this rock, without use of spells” she would then start about cleaning the boar and getting it prepared to well eat some “If you can manage maybe I can help you. Oh and you also need to break it if you want any of this boar.”
Fuu noticed Titaniya getting up from the corner of her eye, causing the dwarf to turn her head towards her with a questioning expression. The woman gathered the boar she massacred earlier and started to walk, making a gesture towards the teen to follow her. Fuu was reluctant at first, but her curiosity over the Dark Titan has gotten the best out of her, so the earth mage got up and quietly followed.
As the two walked, Fuu listened to the bull knight's explanation until they reached their destination. Fuu stood a few feet from Titaniya as she started to set up. A light chuckle came from the dwarf's mouth from hearing the first explanation. "The Vice Captain must've been some rebel." Fuu claimed, referring to how she'd sneak out. She also found it interesting that Titaniya got this strong just from wanting to help her sibling out. Being an only child, Fuu could hardly relate to this, and it made her a little envious. Maybe if she had a sibling, the girl would not be this weak. But Fuu immediately brushed that thought to the side. There are a lot of people out there who've gotten strong without the need of loved ones. She didn't need any of that...yet there was still a sense of doubt in her head.
Titaniya then went to talk about her personality. She was clearly someone who stood strongly by her convictions. That same awe she had for the Dark Titan before finding out the squad she was in was slowly showing itself again. The dwarf was pretty strong willed herself, but lacks the power and experience the knight in front of her clearly has. To never falter, and be an unstoppable force...these are but dreams to Fuu, but these things are what Titaniya are.
Almost forgetting about the world around her, Fuu nearly tripped on her feet as the woman stomped on the ground, a pillar of obsidian appearing right in front of them! It reminded the girl of her own pillar spell right down to how she summons it, but for Titaniya is just seemed like ordinary magic not formed by a spell. The mantis knight took a moment to admire the structure until she had heard the woman's order. "Huh!?" Fuu looked at Titaniya with a hint of disbelief. She wanted her...to break this....without magic!? The girl looked back at the structure then to Titaniya before giving in. "Hmph, fine..." She groaned, walking over to the pillar while cracking her knuckles. "But only because I'm hungry!" she claimed, that pride of hers bleeding out again.
Fuu stood in front of the pillar and took a deep breathe before punching it as hard as it could which made an audible banging noise. "Agh!" After a few seconds she started to shake her hand in pain while mumbling some not so nice words under her breathe. Fuu glared at the structure, growling as if she were trying to intimidate it, but was thinking. It was too hard for her to hit repeatedly. If anything her hands would be broken long before this thing would have a crack in it. It was then she remembered something and looked over towards the other mage. "Wait, you said no 'spells' right?" she asked. Did this mean that non-spell formed constructs were fair game? If so, Fuu would conjure up some stones around the front of her fists and knuckles as a protective padding of sorts. She'd then brace herself and give the structure one more punch, and as soon as she did, the girl still felt a little pain, but it was enough to brush off.
With a satisfied smirk, Fuu started to punch the structure over and over, grunting with each hit. There was barely any sign of it breaking, but the girl didn't show signs of letting up. She was doing for more than just the food. She actually wanted to prove herself...and maybe even learn something.
Titaniya worked on starting to cook the boar, going through her own bag to get some of the reason she had gone to Hage in the first place out, she had come down here to get good produce for cheaper than she could have if she had not gone way out here. Picking some stuff out for today’s camping boar meal and setting the rest back inside she got right to work, using her non-spell magic to get a table to prep on going about preparing a full meal.
Meanwhile she heard as the other girl spoke out a bit against the whole break the giant pillar thing hearing the light yelp of pain from the other girl punching it unguarded only for them to ask about not using ‘spells’. Of course Titaniya did indeed want them to figure that out and use it to stop them from hurting themselves, but she was not gonna right up to say it so when the girl asked Titaniya just kept quiet.
A smile spread on her face as she heard the girl start to better be able to work with the pillar now that they have some hand protection. With this added help the pillar started to chip as Fuu punched it over and over, but it was nowhere near breaking, the inanimate stone seeming to mock the noble bug in its refusal to do more than chip.
“You have until i'm done cooking to manage it.” she spoke, breaking her silence as the smell of the rather good cooking filled the air, maybe to give some further encouragement to the earth mage’s mission. Though seeing they are having a hard time of it she chose to give them an off handed tip in the form of degradation “Do you always just pound your fists on a problem and hope for the best?” Titaniya was hoping to tip the girl in the direction of relaxing they could problem solve, such as using the not spell magic to set up a way to break the pillar, as well it is not like Titaniya gave them any rules besides breaking the pillar without spells.
Fuu didn't really take Titaniya's silence as an answer, and decided to go ahead with her plan. With the conjured stones protecting her fists, the earth mage continued punching at the obsidian pillar, a grunt heard with each strike. "Huh?" The mantis knight stopped and inspected the pillar a little closer. She could start to see cracks forming on the structure! With that, a small triumphant snicker came from Fuu's mouth with a small grin. She was just about to comment on it, but the more she thought of it, the less this really felt as a true accomplishment.
The Dark Titan wanted the pillar in pieces, so that is exactly what Fuu planned to do.
Continuing with her punches, Fuu glanced over at the towering woman as she prepared the boar, curious if she were watching her. A part of Fuu still wanted Titaniya to see the small progress she was making, but of course wasn't something she'd outright admit.
As soon as the black bull knight spoke, Fuu quickly shifted her eyes back to the pillar she was still punching as if she were caught staring. "Tch, food's still gonna be nice n hot when I finish don't worry!" Fuu claimed proudly...despite that being very unlikely. At the pace she was going, and the basic approach she was using, it will probably be hours until the dwarf has punched this thing down! Judging by the growing look of impatience on her face, Fuu knew that very well, but all it did was cause her to punch faster to the point that the earth coating around her fists have started to break apart, crumbling to pieces way faster than the pillar itself.
The girl stopped again and looked at her hands, sighing as she shook off whatever remained of that protection. As she did this, the Dark Titan spoke once again with a more degrading response, causing Fuu to roll her eyes and grit her teeth. "Hey, sometimes I use my head too!" she claimed, pointing at the side of her head as she said this. At first most would probably think that she assumed using her brain...but she was being quite literal, and to prove this, the girl conjured up a stone plating around her forehead and cocked her head back before swinging it forward, bashing her forehead against the pillar...hard enough for it to still hurt and easily reduce the plating to pieces. The dwarf then groaned, rubbing her forehead. "You stupid little..." She has now resorted to trash talking the pillar...
Fuu took a few steps back and appeared to be readying herself to charge at the pillar until she noticed some rocks on the ground beside her. The knight looked at one of them for a bit before crouching down, taking it into her hand. She looked at the rock then at the pillar as she started bouncing it in her hand before chucking it at the pillar with all her strength! With a small satisfied grin on her face, the girl picked up another nearby rock and did the same, before taking a few into her arms and started to throw them one at a time. Perhaps this would work as well?
She now turned to watch as she waited for the next time to deal with the food, seeing as the girl went about slamming their head into the pillar like some kind of god damned idiot. Ok so hinting that she had to not use her fists was not enough to get through to this dumb bug. So she moved over to idly happen to roll a large boulder nearby, it would be a shame if anyone made a ramp under it to cause it to roll into the pillar and cause it to break.
Of course she says nothing as she goes back to working on her cooking “Your time is ticking and that pillar does not look smashed yet. Chipped maybe, but I think throwing rocks at it is wasting your time.” she turned to face the other girl once again that grim grin was back as she spoke up with a much less nice tone to her voice “And if you intend to waste your time then you are a waste of my time.” she would then turn back to her work hopping that would be enough encouragement to get the bug to get their act together and think.
Titaniya knew there was two outcomes, the girl does it and they get to eat with Titaniya and earns some bit of acknowledgement, that is enough for Titaniya to keep training the girl into a standing stone also. OR the girl would fail and titaniya would insult them, pin then to the ground and sit on their back while she ate alone with the girl helpless but to watch her eat all of the meal. A sad fate, so Fuu best hope she succeeds as the meal will be done soon. WC: 293 TWC: 3110
Fuu continued to chuck the rocks at the pillar, strongly believing this to be a good idea, despite still making little to no progress. She didn't even notice the boulder rolling and landing by her as she was too focused on her rock throwing. "Yeah yeah..." Fuu would get yet another reminder of her limited time which at this point Fuu wasn't worried about since the girl thought she'd be able to accomplish this before then...which obviously won't be the case.
"Eep!" The moment Titaniya spoke again, Fuu stopped in mid throw, wincing a little at that menacing tone again as her pale eyes met with the Dark Titan's merciless own. The remaining rocks fell out of Fuu's hands as she watched the towering woman. "...Right." Her eyes then fell back on the pillar, focusing on the little progress she made...if it could even be called progress. Her hands balled into fists as the dwarf thought about what Titaniya previously said. "...I am not a waste of time..." she muttered to herself, fists loosening. Those words hit the earth mage hard, probably a little harder than the physical pain she had to endure against this bull knight earlier. She didn't want to believe this was true...but maybe it was.
Fuu was now leaning against a certain boulder, her arms crossed as she pondered how to break the pillar. "Eh?" her head cocked up a bit after realizing what she was resting on. Turning her head, the teen looked at the boulder, tilting her head a little at it. She then got off of the boulder to get a better look at it then turned her attention to that annoying pillar. She placed a hand on her chin as she started to...actually think! Surely this was hard enough to smash that pillar to pieces...but it needed to build up momentum or something...
The green mantis looked around, but couldn't find anything that could help with this. Its not like she could just push the boulder into the pillar either as there wouldn't be enough force. The girl was now looking at the path she and the dark titan came from. Not realizing it when they first arrived, the path kinda slopped....and was perfectly lined up with the pillar! Fuu took one more look at the pillar as a grin formed on her face, a genuine looking one. The girl stretched and placed both hands onto the boulder before beginning to push it up the path, which was proving to be a bit difficult and time consuming. At this point, Fuu didn't care about the time anymore, nor the repercussions. She just wanted to bring that stupid pillar tumbling down already!
After a bit of time, Fuu finally made it to the top with the boulder, keeping one of her hands on it as she caught her breath. The dwarf took one more look at the pillar, wanting to make sure it was lined up and as soon as she confirmed it, the girl gave the boulder one good push with both hands, causing it to start rolling down, gaining momentum while on its collision course with the pillar!
Titaniya was almost done cooking as she watched the girl at last figure how about the bolder, but also sorta was the hurt feeling they seemed to have from the asking about if she is a waste of time. This sorta made Titaniya think the girl had some self worth problems, she would remember this but also remember not to use it too often if they do succeed in getting Titaniya to train her.
Sure enough the bolder rolled on down the hill gaining speed as it did before coming to an abrupt slam into the pillar of obsidian, the pillar crumbling as the bolder kept rolling to a soon stop. The girl had done it, she managed to break the pillar and not long to spare as titaniya turned to face the girl on the hill and call out to them “Food is done, get yourself some.” It might not sound like a lot but that was Titaniya’s way of saying congratulations, you did the bare minimum. A sort of half pat on the back.
Now the dark titan would go about dishing herself up some food, there was some sliced boar meat cooked to perfection and some various veggies that had been roasted, but all of it would taste good, how Titaniya became an adequate cook might be a nice thing to ask sometime when she is not being scary. “So, you have my attention at least, let's see if you can keep it and be made into a standing stone of your own right.” she would speak back in her nice tone of course as she started to dig into her meal, at the rate she was eating Fuu better heap her plate up with food fast. Titaniya seems to be giving no table manners at the moment, of course she has them for when it is in the right setting, but no need for that right now. WC: 321 TWC: 3431
Fuu bit down on her lower lip while watching the boulder roll down, growing faster and faster. Despite how easy this felt, it could just as easily go wrong at any second. What if the boulder wasn't strong enough to even shatter this pillar, or what if something causes it to shift directions? The dwarf couldn't take her eyes off of the boulder and clenched her fists. The large rock kept on going until it was down the hill then...
CRASH!
The boulder smashed straight into the obsidian made pillar, sending it crashing down! Fuu stood at the top in disbelief, mouth wide open. As the dwarf was still trying to process what happened, the Dark Titan called her down for dinner. If the literal destruction of that damned pillar wasn't confirmation enough, the words coming from the towering mage helped cement it. With a wide grin on her face followed by a victorious chuckle, Fuu lifted her arms into the air and looked up at the sky. "Woooo!!" she cheered before sliding down the hill...nearly colliding into the boulder if it weren't for a last second maneuver that caused the teen to land face first next to it.
"Err.." the small noble sat up and rubbed the side of her head before getting fully back on her feet. Brushing any dirt that was on her clothes off, Fuu walked over to Titaniya with a smug look on her face. The girl had honest doubts that she wouldn't be able to accomplish this which made her all the more proud of actually succeeding. It was good thing she wasn't aware of Titaniya's little push or it would've messed with the young girl's pride. Fuu grabbed some of the food and sat by the Dark Titan, wasting no time with digging in. Despite her being from a noble family, Fuu's table manners were almost non-existent, not that she didn't have any...she's just not a fan. As she took one more big bite out of her food, Fuu glanced at Titaniya, looking a tad annoyed. "Nmot like mm I wush tryinm to impress you mm or anythingm!" Fuu claimed, talking with her mouth full of food. But once she swallowed and before trying to take another bite, the girl closed her eyes, going through something in her head.
"Thank you..." she said, with a hint of a formal tone, something she rarely ever did! The moment Fuu realized what she said she quickly opened her eyes, shaking her head like she were in denial. "For the food I mean! It's not half bad...I guess." Fuu shifted her eyes to the side while taking another bite. Of course she was referring to more than just the food....
Titaniya would smile inside as she saw how happy the girl was about managing it, and also at their face plant into the ground, that was quite nice to see, though she was surprised the girl did not knock herself out from doing that considering how hurt they were already.
Between Titaniya and Fuu’s ravenous eating the food would quickly be gone, of course Titaniya having done her best to take more of it than the other girl, keeping focused on eating as they talked with their mouth full with the ‘not like I care’ words when really the definitely looked like they cared.
Then the girl would suddenly be a bit more formal in thanking the dark one for seeing about training them only for them to shake it off and claim it was just about the food, though they sounded very bad at hiding it. Even so Titaniya would let the girl keep up her fasade “Don't thank me for anything yet, for all you know this was poisoned.” she joked soon giving a slight laugh, get laugh was more eerie than a normal laugh should be, but that is just how Titaniya laughs due to how she tries to hold back her real emotions from her voice for the most part.
It was now that she went back to being more serious as she placed her elbows on the table, hands kept together while she rested her chin on them. Her black eyes staring down the dwarf before she started to speak up again in her normal calm and clear manner. “Now then, We will meet out here again tomorrow early in the morning, if you start to hear birds chirping then you are late. Do not be late.” she paused a bit for the effect of her words “We will begin your training in full then.”
Fuu was pretty much done with her food right as Titaniya claimed of it being possibly poisoned. The dwarf looked at her with a cold sweat, nearly believing her for a second. The Dark Titan then started to laugh which to most should be an indicator that the was only jesting...but with how eerie it sounded, it caused Fuu to smile nervously with an equally nervous laughter to accompany it.
As the bull's laughter died down, Fuu grew silent as well as she was now being stared at. "Soooo..." Not sure what to do, the girl awkwardly looked to her left then right before setting her sights back on the looming woman's unyielding gaze. She then started to speak, giving the young dwarf orders that caused her to blink a few times. "Hey, wait..." Her brows furrowed while looking at the woman, expression appearing to be a little annoyed. "Who died and made you my mento-" The girl immediately held her tongue, not because of the possibly painful repercussions if she'd continue...but because two of the words she had said..."died" and "mentor"....
The girl was quickly reminded of her late mentor, a former Crimson Lions member. Fuu's eyes slowly shifted from Titaniya to her own hands which rested on the table. There was a look of longing on her face joined with a bittersweet smile. The guy wasn't as....extreme as Titaniya, but training under him wasn't no cake walk neither. He was the reason she became a Magic Knight in the first place, he saved her from becoming a complete criminal...from becoming a further disappointment to the Wilhelm name. "Yeah...I'll make it." Fuu claimed, her tone a bit softer than usual. "Make it as tough as ya want." Her bittersweet expression loosened up, looking more determined.
Titaniya listened as the girl started to complain only to stop herself, not sure if it was out of fear of what Titaniya would do or if it was something else, but in any case the girl spoke up saying that they would be there and to make it as rough as they would want something the dark titan would remember and use. “Very well. I'll see you then Fuu.” she tried to use saying the other girls name just to signify giving them some acknowledgment but she was not sure how well it would work.
In any case the dark titan rose to her feet as she grabbed up her gear and started on her way, giving a small wave as she walked off to get the groceries home. Her footsteps loud and deleperate as ever slowly fading away as she disappeared into the woods.
With a determined nod, Fuu got up just after Titaniya did and watched her walk off. Once she was gone, a sigh escaped Fuu's lips. This day turned out a lot different than she expected. Still it wasn't like the teen was angry about it, or at least not anymore.
As she started to walk, the teen winced again and held her chest. Of course that pain was still there...This was something she needed to get healed before tomorrow.
The girl then chuckled at herself lightly, thinking how ironic this was to be taken under the wing of someone belonging to a squad she has grown to dislike. "...Guess not all Bulls are lame..." the dwarf smirked, looking in the direction her new mentor left off to before heading off in the opposite.
