Azure eyes widened when an unexpected visitor happened by, and even more so when the guest started to bash its head against the tree. "W-What?" Her arms had flown out to steady herself, and she held tightly onto the truck and a nearby branch to keep from being thrown off her current position. The twig that she had been playing around with earlier had been dropped, and it landed right on the boar’s head. If it was not angered before, it was definitely riled up now.
The entire tree was shaking under the repeated attacks, and some of the loose leaves were falling down. What was going on? The sudden boar attack in itself was shocking, but it was not until she noticed something from the corner of her eye that made her scream.
"AHHH!"
It was more like a shriek, really—a sudden, punctuated cry of surprise...and pure horror. There, slithering towards her, was a long snake! Its eyes flashed its malice at being so rudely awakened, and the elf was the first target it saw. Hence, it slithered straight for the blue-haired woman, its long thin tongue flickering in and out as it tasted the scent of its prey.
If the boar attack was not constantly shaking the tree, Suna would have stayed completely frozen in fear as the snake curled its scaly body around her and choked her. Indeed, it would have been her untimely death if the wild animal down below was not bashing its head against the tree trunk. What was going on? She slowly inched away, but screamed again when she felt its tongue flick across the back of her hand.
"Hans!" She screamed on instinct. The elf jumped from her sitting position and immediately started climbing up. There was no way she could go down, not with the crazy mad boar there. There was also no way she could escape that snake except by going up.
The blue-haired figure clambered to the very top bough of the tree, panting and shaking in fear. The first person she thought about was Hans. His name was the first thing she cried after her initial scream. Where was he? Her fearful eyes turned darker when she did not see the familiar dark form anywhere. He was nowhere in sight—she was on her own.
This was a bad idea. She should not have climbed up this tree in the first place. She bit down on her lower lip, so hard until it bled. Think, Suna, think! Then she wanted to bang her head against the tree trunk, much like the boar down there at the base. Of course, why was she just sitting up here shaking in fear when she could be fighting back? The old Suna would have just shrank away and hope for the best, but the Suna now? At least she would attempt to do her best in facing her fears.
She brought her aura together to form her Crescendo ring, and upon seeing the scaly body of the snake slowly ascending the tree, threw it at the reptile. However, she was shaking too hard, her aim went wide, missing the snake by a good few feet. It did, nonetheless, drop down near the boar, and the aura ring exploded.
All was silent for a few moments. Suna was not sure when the ring had hit the boar or not, but at least the shaking had temporarily stopped. The snake, not the boar, was currently her biggest enemy, and she cowered in fear as it continued slithering up, its scaly green body wrapping itself around the trunk on its way towards her...
"Hans, where are you..." came the soft whimper. She shifted her weight, and her foot slipped. Then she was falling...

“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
This pesky flower was showing no signs of stopping. Hans was getting close to the damn thing, but every time he tried reaching a hand out to grab it, it always manages to slip away, as if it had a mind of its own! To think that someone like Hans, a mercenary who was raised to be a soldier would be having this much trouble with a flower...it pretty comical. Well to him, it would be beyond humiliating. Hopefully no one, especially Suna wasn't watching him right now, or else he'd never manage to live it down!
After a bit of struggling with this thing, Hans slowed down before stopping in his tracks. He didn't get tired, but was starting to question himself.
"....What am I doing?"
The merc gave himself a nice little facepalm, and slowly shook his head. This was very ridiculous. Words could not describe how disappointed with himself Hans is.
But before he could fully give up on this...situation, the wind stopped.
Hans peeked an eye out from between his fingers, and noticed that the flower was now landing on top of a bush, the sun shining down on it as if it were some sacred relic! The dark mage slowly lowered his hand from his face as he focused on the flower. This certainly wasn't a trick...right? The wind showed no signs of picking up again. The flower was calling out to the guy, practically begging for him to claim his reward! Hans was now slowly walking towards the flower, taking hesitant steps at first before moving faster. This was it, the moment he's been waiting for all day...or just a couple of minutes. Nothing was going to keep Hans away from the prize he seeks, nothing!
Until...
Hans was mere inches from the flower, his hand slowly reaching out to it, but as his fingers brushed against the plant...a lizard like creature emerged from the bushes, no bigger than Hans' hand. Hans paused, and looked at the reptile, almost glaring at it as it looked back at the human. It felt like a standoff one would normally see in the wild west. Man against lizard, Mage versus reptile. Who will in?
The lizard then stuck its tongue out within the blink of an eye, and caught the flower, bringing into its mouth! Hans furrowed his eyes at the cheeky action. "That was a mistake..." He attempted to grab the lizard...but then the wind picked up again and it took off flying with its wing like arms.
"..."
Hans watched in sheer disbelief as he slowly lowered his hand. "Nature sucks..."
The dark mage let out an annoyed sigh...then the sound of a familiar screech filled the area, not only causing Hans to perk up, but the birds in nearby trees had went flying as well!
"Suna!?" Hans immediately turned in the direction the screech came from and started to run, his entire demeanor changing to a more worrying one. That definitely was her, it could not have been anyone else! Hans did not know what happen nor did he try to stop and think about what could've possibly caused her to scream like that. He just needed to get to her now! Suna! Suna, I'm coming!"
Hans was still running where he last heard the screech, maneuvering over obstacles and nearly tripping over some. He was not going to stop until he found her, but now the man was growing uncertain of her location. After the scream, he had heard nothing else, which caused his head to desperately look left and right for anymore signs, hopefully none that involved blood...
An explosion then occurred, shaking the very surface Hans stood on for a bit. Hans stopped and looked in the direction of the explosion. "There!" He ran to the source, running past a boar that was fleeing in the opposite direction, looking a little burnt. Hans didn't pay it no mind as he finally came across the woman he was searching for....in mid fall.
"Suna!" Hans yelled out as he continued to run, trying to go faster, but at this pace it didn't look like he would make it in time. "I got you!" Hans yelled out before shifting his body, going from running to sliding on the ground like a baseball player at the last minute. If he timed it right, Hans would have Suna land right on his arms and lap which still probably wouldn't be the comfiest for the both of them given how high she fell, but it should still cushion her landing enough for it to not be serious!
Hans would slam his eyes shut, and lightly wince from the impact. "Suna." Hans quickly opened his eyes, to look at the angel that fell into his arms. "Are you okay, Suna? What happen? How did you get up the-Is anything broken?" Hans was a stammering mess again, but this time over the safety of his woman...which was still a weird thought for him. "I...I got you..." He added, a strong hint of worry still on his face. Hans may be terrible at catching flowers, but the same couldn't be said about catching cute blue elves it seems.
But as this happened...an odd looking figure stalked the two from some bushes. It appeared to be a man...with a boar head holding a spear, and a familiar looking burnt boar sitting angrily next to him....

NOTES Blah blah blah BATTLE *pew pew pew* SPELLS Show us your stuff
The elf could only stare up at the leaves and branches that rushed past her, and the glimpses of blue sky. It was a noiseless trip, with just the wind whooshing by and her stomach dropping. Her skirt fluttered as she fell, and a hundred dreams with it. Scenes flashed by her eyes, both good and bad. Faces appeared and disappeared, and in the forefront of it all, was the masculine, handsome face she was just starting to know. To think that something that had just started would end so soon…
There were some regrets, but with all that had happened recently, the happy memories outweighed their negative counterparts. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the impact when she hit the ground. At best, she would end up with broken bones. At worst...
"Suna!" The familiar-sounding voice cut through her flashbacks.
She tensed, her eyes flying open. Hans? He came!
"I got you!"
And then, she hit the ground. Or rather, a rock-hard body. "Oomph!" A muffled cry. She looked up to see her savior. "Hans!" She threw her arms around the man, and buried herself against him. Her body was still shaking from the snake scare, and the man was sure to feel her trembling like a leaf. But now that the shock was over and she was safe, her eyes moistened. "T-There was a s-s-snake up there...a-and..." She choked on her words, her breathing erratic and uneven. Her grip around him was tight, it must have felt like a vise.
Then Suna realized she had landed right on top of him. "Ah! I’m so sorry!" She released her arms and rolled off to the side. "Are you okay? Is your back okay?" She fretted around Hans, poking at various parts of his upper body. What if he suffered more injuries than she did? It was all because he somehow caught her and cushioned her fall.
"Does this place hurt? How about this?" She prodded his shoulders, feeling out his form and trying to see if he had broken anything or pulled a muscle. The elf herself did not suffer too much, thanks for the mercenary’s timely save. Otherwise, who knew what kind of bones she would have broken. Her hands roamed over his back and down his sides, not knowing that her innocent actions may have another type of effect on the poor guy.
"How about your bo—" She bit down on her tongue before she finished the word. She was about to ask him if he hurt his rear, but then it would not have been a very proper thing for a lady to ask. The only thing she did was to gesture lamely towards the area she was indicating. It was still a little difficult for her to break her old ways of being proper and all. Old habits die hard, but she was slowly learning how to relax around him. Her next action showed that.
Suna threw her arms around him again, possibly toppling him over if he was in a sitting position. She would be on top of him, her chest against his and their faces only a hand-breadth away. "Arigato..." came the whisper. She was touched by how worried he looked, and with her thumb, gently smoothed out the furrows between his eyebrows. It felt so nice to have someone who was concerned and looking out for her. "Arigato...Hans." She murmured again, and her fingers trailed down, lightly brushing his nose and the edges of his mouth. So warm. Unconsciously, she chewed her bottom lip. She would have leaned in and completed her action, if there was not the sound of footsteps behind them.
The elf jerked back, swinging her head around to face…
A boar head staring straight at them, and holding a spear.
She yelped in surprise, and jumped up. Then she noticed an injured boar next to the standing figure. Her mind clicked the pieces together, and her hands flew up in surrender. "I-I’m so sorry!" She stammered, bowing in apology. "I’m so sorry for injuring your pet boar! I-It was meant for the s-snake up there! I missed, and it landed on..."
Her voice trailed off. There was no way this guy was going to believe her. It was too strange and too long of a story to tell. She would have to explain why she was up in the tree in the first place, and how the boar was the one who started it all. And somehow, she guessed that this menacing owner was not going to hear anything bad about his pet boar, or whatever it was to him.
Suna held out her hands, palms up. "I-I can heal your boar—erm, your pet?" She offered. The poor animal looked like it had gotten burned pretty badly. From her own spell, no less. Stepping forward, she got ready to use her healing spell. But just before she could, something suddenly shot out and wrapped itself around the elf and jerked her up, out of sight.
The snake from before had been silently slithering down the tree, not giving up on finding its fallen victim. When the duo had been dealing with the boar visitor, it had been silently appraising the blue-haired elf, its beady eyes glowing in intensity. From what, one could not be sure. When the target had stepped a little closer to where it was waiting, the snake had launched out from its coils, wrapping its head and long body around the slight figure. The reptile tightened its hold around her and jerked his prize back up to the tree!
"H-Help!" What had she done to have hit such an unlucky hour?
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
"Are yo-woah!" Hans was suddenly thrown into an embrace, and the first thing he noticed was how badly Suna was trembling which only made him more concerned. She then looked up at him with teary eyes, taking the merc by surprise. It broke his heart to see her so afraid, making him wish he had gotten here sooner. She started to speak about a snake, but the man was just focusing on how Suna currently looked. He was just about to wipe the tears from her eyes until the sound mage jumped off of him.
The merc didn't really notice how close he was to her, and didn't seem to be embarrassed, his mind more focused on the woman's well being. "It's fine, really." Hans tried to reassure her, waving his hand dismissively...until she started to feel up his body. Words once again escaped Hans as he felt those delicate hands tracing his broad shoulders and back. A faint flush appeared on the guy's face, his eyes silently following the elf. A combination of Suna being concerned, and these touches...it made Hans' heart race. Whatever potential bruises he had were currently numb to him as this other feeling took over. Her touches are so...addicting, and he couldn't get enough of it.
Suna was now gesturing towards Hans' rear in an amusingly embarrassed fashion. It took Hans a couple of seconds to finally realize what the elf was trying to say, but the moment he figure it out, the redness on his cheeks started to fade as he let out a light heartwarming chuckle. "I-It's fine...I'm fine." Hans then leaned in to finish the job and wipe the tears from Suna's eyes before suddenly getting tackled, and fell to the ground!
Hans was now on his back, staring almost curiously up at the sound mage. They were closer...much closer than before. "It's...no problem..." Hans' tone matched the elf's. The atmosphere went from tense and worrisome to intimate. She was once again touching Hans, her gentle fingers on his face, but he wasn't flustered this time. It felt different, he felt different. Her chest pressed against his...these were all new feelings that he found himself welcoming. Before he knew it, the dark mage had his hands on Suna's slim back, slowly sliding them down to her waist. "Suna..." said in a whispered tone. He was slowly raising his head up to meet with Suna's until...
The elf shot up, leaving Hans a tad dazed and confused until he heard some aggressive squealing! The merc quickly sat up and turned around, raising an eyebrow at the sight of a muscular guy in nothing but a loincloth....and a boar's head, and it was certainly not a mask.
The creature had a spear, and there was a rather upset looking boar next to him which had burned marks. Suna was now apologizing to it, leaving Hans completely confused, but on guard. The moment Suna referred to the boar as a pet, the boar man's grip on the spear tightened. Didn't seem to like that very much. The elf once again claimed the boar to be its pet, and the boar man was now aiming his spear at the woman. Hans lowered his eyes and on instinct he slid his katana from its sheathe and aimed it back at the boar man who was now looking at the merc but still had his spear trained on Suna. "I wouldn't try it..." A faint dark aura surrounded the merc. "She's not going to hurt em..." Hans tried to reassure the creature. He didn't exactly know what happened, but the merc didn't want things to get messy.
But of course this wasn't the only problem....
From the corner of his eye, Hans watched as Suna was quickly pulled up into the tree she had just fell from! What the..." Hans turned to look up into the tree, and his eyes widened as he saw Suna getting constricted by a large snake. "Hang on! I'll get you dow-" Suddenly, a spear was thrown Hans' way which he was able to avoid it with a quick duck, causing the spear to pierce the side of the tree. Hans looked over at the boar and grit his teeth as the boar man was now rushing at the merc! "Not now..." Hans muttered as his grimoire floated to his side.
Looking up at Suna, the dark mage aimed his palm in her direction, causing the dark aura that was surrounding him to instead surround her, molding into a dark suit of armor which appeared more feminine around her. He was aiming to protect Suna from the snakes deadly squeeze until he was free to get her down, unless she manages to do it on her own.
The boar man was now close to Hans, and tried to throw a punch, but Hans maneuvered out of the way which gave the creature a chance to pull its spear from out of the tree! It attempted to swing its weapon at Hans, but he was able to block it with his sword. "Hm?" The spear the boar was using appeared pretty flimsy up close, so Hans' sword should have been able to cut through with ease...but it didn't. "An enchanted spear?" He then looked back up at Suna, gritting his teeth at first before giving a reassuring nod. He was going to make sure she comes out of this safe and sound.
So far this has been an...interesting first date.

NOTES -20 Mana (M.Armor) +25 Mana (Regen) BATTLE Placed Malevolent Armor on best girl Suna SPELLS
Using their grimoire, the user forms an aura of darkness around them, mocking the appearance of a medieval knight armor, shaped to fit perfectly around the user or their allies for defensive purposes. However with the clench of one of their fists, the armor will transform into a six foot sphere of darkness around them that will explode out up to ten meters around with the one wearing the armor as the center, striking those within range with blunt damage with a knock back of four meters (an additional five meters added every ten power gained with the spell coming to an end after the explosion. The user can summon more armor as per the control rules, and place them on allies who will need to remain in twenty meters of the user for the spell to be sustained. (Defense Buff will decrease to +4 Durability if used by multiple targets) (Spell gains +5 Durability from Dark Element)
He may deny it, but he was gentle. At least with her. The way he brushed the tears from her eyes, the way he looked at her, the way he handled her...it was like she was someone precious to him. Even as she was caught up by the snake, he had cast one of his spells on her, giving her his armor so she would not be squeezed to death by her captor—it was because he was looking out for her.
The dark armor had formed around her, slipping in between the snake and herself. Suna could feel its dark power welling around her, like a protective cocoon. It was familiar and comforting. At least for the moment, she was safe from being squeezed to death by this scaly creature. However, she struggled against the snake’s tight hold, but to no avail. Its grip was too strong for her. She peeked through the helmet. The snake had jerked her back up to the tree, not too high up so she could still see everything happening below in clear detail.
Apparently, the boar-man, whatever he was, had been angered. Was it something she said? Most likely it was, and unfortunately, Hans was the one who had to deal with it, even though he had nothing to do with it. She watched as the boar man swung a punch at the mercenary, but it missed. However, it gave the other man a chance to grab the spear, which had somehow gotten stuck in the tree trunk. He must have thrown it sometimes when the snake caught her.
A hiss brought her back to her captivity. She did not know just how strong this reptile was, only that its hold on her was strong enough to keep her tightly in place. Hopefully the armor would hold out, but just the pressure and scaly feeling around her made her terribly afraid. She had a deep fear of snakes, and even inside the armor, the elf had started to tremble again. As if sensing her fear, the long snake coiled itself in another loop around her.
What in the world was she doing? Was she going to just stand by helpless while her man was down there fighting for something she caused? At the very least, she has to do something about this snake. She gritted her teeth, trying to still her breathing and calm her mind. What can she do? She had no space to move her hands, much less summon her harp...
Her pure aura once again started to shimmer and shift, forming a Crescendo ring in her right hand. The snake’s head had turned around to face her, and she shuddered at its fathomless eyes. They were hypnotizing, and not in a good way. She was caught in its gaze, those orbs that pulsed and promised...
"An enchanted spear?"
His voice broke through her trance, and he was looking up at her, giving her a reassuring nod. She wanted to hit herself for looking into the creature’s eyes. She had heard of the dangers, yet had fallen prey to that. "Watch out!" Suna cried, for the injured boar was still very much alive and was now charging towards the mercenary, while its owner let out a war whoop and followed suit with his spear.
Pss! The snake had flicked out its tongue at her legs, and the brief touch was utterly repulsive. Even though she was covered by the dark amor, the elf still shrank back. Don’t look at the eyes! Even though her arms were still wrapped around her body, her hands still had some area of movement. Focusing on the snake’s mouth, she held her breath and waited for the next time it opened its mouth. As soon as it did, she flicked her wrist up and the magical ring sailed up and into the snake’s throat.
And nothing happened.
The creature swallowed it down like it was a pebble. "W-What?" She stammered. Was it anti-magic or something? Otherwise how could her magic have no effect on it? It seemed like only non-magical weapons could hurt it, or that was what she assumed. Her heart raced in anxiety and dread. Even if she summoned Cadenza, her sword was magical, and she did not have enough wrist movement to wield it.
Should I try it? There was a new spell she had recently learned, but had not gotten the chance to actually put it into action. Until now. She did not know if it would work, but it was worth a try. At the very least, she could restrain and confuse the boar man and the boar below.
Tremolo. Blue aura began to flow from the elf, slipping from beneath the scaly coils and forming into a large half-dome that encompassed the tree and the fighting duo below her. "Get out, Hans!" She called out, hoping he would get out of the aura dome before she let go and let loose.

“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Hans continued to press his blade against the boar man’s spear. The two were struggling to overpower each other with their raw strength. The merc could've tried something else but he was still pondering about the creature’s weapon. He could definitely feel the mana coming off of it, but it didn’t feel like it belonged to the weapon’s holder. They both had two completely different mana signatures! Where did this thing get ahold of such a weapon...or more precisely the enchantment within?
The boar man squealed, causing Hans to pay more attention to it instead. It attempted to sweep the merc from his legs, but as he motioned to do that, Hans jumped back a bit and then rushed forward! A series of blows were exchanged by the two, weapon against weapon parrying each strike! With another stalemate reached, Hans broke the tie by ramming his knee up the boar man’s jaw, making him back up and stagger! The dark mage smirked and was just about to strike the strange hybrid until he heard another squeal, making him quickly shift his dark eyes to the injured boar that was attempting to rush him! ”Hmph..” Hans instead rose his sword at the leaping boar, ready to strike it down in one blow, but as his sword hit its tusks....another stalemate was met!
”H-huh? You too?” The boar’s tusks were enchanted as well, giving off the same mana signature as the spear! Hans was able to overpower the boar however and threw it back by pushing his sword forward. It landed perfectly on its feet however and started to growl. The boar man was behind Hans now, spear trained in the merc with both hands. The dark mage thought he could take care of these two with his weapon alone, but with the boar man’s fighting skills and not foe’s enchanted weapons it made things difficult. Looks like he was going to have to resort to using his magic. But before he could...
The man’s eyes widened as he felt the spell he casted around Suna to be weakening! Looking up at the tree, the guy thought he would see the snake overpowering the armor, making it crack, but instead it looked like parts of it were...disappearing? He looked worryingly at Suna before shifting his eyes to the snake. It looked like some kind of light was illuminating from its green scaly body, erasing or devouring the dark mana that was suppose to be protecting the elf. First the odd boars and now this snake!? There’s something up with this forest, but that would be something to get to the bottom of at another time! Now, his window for saving his Suna has shortened. ”Don’t worry. I’ll be right the-“ Another squeal reminded Hans of the trouble in front...and behind him!
Both creatures were ready to rush at Hans again and with gritted teeth a dark aura surrounded himself and his sword! He was about ready to end this until he heard the sound mage shout out, warning him to watch out!
Looking up, Hans took quick notice of the blue dome like structure forming. A spell of hers...yet he hasn’t seen this one before, but her warning must’ve meant that this wasn’t anything she wanted the dark mage to get caught up in so with a nod, Hans quickly grabbed the broom from his back and took flight, flying away from the expanding spell until he was just outside of it, hovering while looking curiously inside. The boar duo panically looked around in their prison. Their movements started to slow, growing sloppy. The boar man suddenly dropped his spear shortly after and fell to his knees, pressing his hands desperately against his ears while the boar threw its head about in pain! Hans watched from the outside, once again surprised and impressed by what Suna is capable of. ”Remind me...to never get on your bad side.” he mumbled, blinking a few times.
Something that Hans has come to learn about Suna is that she can truly be intimidating when need be whether she tried to or not...part of the reason why Hans had fell for her...
The two beasts managed to slowly drag themselves out of that interesting spell, but were now looking pretty bruised and terrified. Instead of trying to fight, the beats retreated once their speed was back to normal. Hans watched them run off, but didn’t try to stop them. It was obvious they weren’t going to be messing with the two...especially Suna anytime soon...plus there was still one more thing to deal with....
Assuming that the spell was still up, the snake would start to glow more, causing the dome that was surrounding the area to slowly fade! It then went back to contracting itself more around Suna, with even less of the armor still on her! Hans clenched his sword and focused on the snake. It appears to eat magic without any issue...but what about basic attacks?
It was now Hans’ turn to come to the rescue! Flying in on his broom, the merc held his sword up and as the snake turned to face him, the dark mage swung his blade downwards, cutting the snakes head off! The snake’s head fell to the ground, it’s tongue still slithering out and the muscles in its face still spamming a bit as if it were still alive for a couple of seconds before finally stopping. The snake’s body has stopped glowing as well before it’s body loosened its grip around Suna and fell to the ground as well. If Suna was about to fall as a result of this, Hans would immediately catch her with both hands, holding her similarly like he did back at the modeling place. ”I got you.” the merc said reassuringly. Suna would most likely still have the helmet from the armor still on her head but the rest of it would be gone. Gently placing his forehead against her own, the helmet would fade, and Hans would look thankfully into the sound mage’s eyes. ”And you got me too...” he claimed , before looking towards the boar man’s dropped spear. Hans didn’t care about it at the moment, where it came from or what else it was capable of. He got what he was after right there in his arms...
The dark mage descended near a tree located in the opening he was previously at and hopped off of the broom. ”Y-you didn’t break anything...did you...?” Hans asked as he attempted to gently place Suna against the tree and immediately crouched down beside her. He looked around her with a bit of worry. It felt so...strange for him to be worked up like this....but also right.
”What about...” Hans was just about to inspect her just like she did to him earlier but hesitated, cheeks growing flushed before gritting his teeth. Now that he thought about it...it would probably not be right for him to invade her space like that....but that didn’t stop their little...exchange from earlier which only made the man even more red, thinking about that. ”I uh...Just tell me if anything...yeah...” Hans ribbed the back of his neck as he took a seat beside the woman, looking away embarrassingly. Newfound relationship or not, this wasn’t going to stop Hand from being an awkward mess around her at times...
As the merc was looking away, his eyes fell upon another tree that had some familiar looking blue flowers around them. Hans blinked a few times before glancing over at Suna, mostly at her hair. Right, he lost her white flower...but managed to find a different one.
”Ah...hey...” The man fishes through his Grimoire holder and took out the blue flower, appearing a bit similar to that white one. ”This is...for you.” Hans gestures the flower at Suna. There was a small smirk on his face, showing signs of confidence, but there was still the sneaking feeling of uncertainty.

As Suna siphoned some of the mana from the boar-man and boar to replace her own, it tasted strange. She did not know what it was, but it was the usual mana signature she had felt before. As the fight happened below her, she could see that the mercenary was being countered by the two visitors. Somehow, the spear and the boar’s tusks were enchanted, not some regular non-magical weapons. But how? And how dare they start attacking an innocent person, much less her man?
Around her, Hans’ armor spell shifted, and she heard a crack! Not only was it slowly crushing in on her, it had some sort of strange properties that was erasing the dark magic. What was this snake, this anti-magic? She had heard of these types before, but on an animal? There was something seriously wrong in this forest.
Here she was, becoming his liability and distraction—where was her fight? She was not as helpless as she used to be. She had said she would become stronger, and now was the time. She may not be able to do anything about the snake, but she could deal with the boars. He had heard her warning, and from the corner of her eye, saw him fly out of her zone on his broom. Good. Now she could let go without fear of harming him.
Suna’s lips were pressed in a thin line, eyebrows furrowed and blue eyes flashing. As soon as the aura dome was completed, the female mage let her sound burst out from her. It was like a scream, but from the outside, one would not have heard anything, as the thick aura walls confined the sound. All her pent-up energy, all her fears, all her feelings—she let it all come out and unleash out of her. Azure magic ricocheted within the enclosed area, the sound waves bouncing against the walls and accelerating in intensity.
As it grew, Suna could feel her power growing. The magic slowed down its prisoners, and dealt continuous damage to them the longer they stayed in the zone. The boar-man had fallen to his knees, hands over his ears. The animal was also shaking and rearing its head, squealing in agony at the sound that was cutting through its eardrums. No one got to hurt her Hans without feeling some of her wrath. Despite her sweet and innocent personality, there were parts of her that could rear its ugly head when triggered. One of those triggers would be related to the dark mage.
The strange pair slowly crawled out of the dome, and the elf would have moved the dome to keep them within her prison spell...if it was not for her captor. The snake had started to glow, and as a result, started to erase her magic. She gritted her teeth as the dome started to soften and thin, the spell being cancelled out. This blasted reptile. It was a pity that it did nothing to her snake captor. At least the boar-man and his pet had decided not to continue the fight and had run away from sight.
Crack! Crack! Parts of the armor were weakening and disappearing, and the snake was constricting in on her. The grip around her waist and chest tightened, and she gasped when her breathing became more limited. If the armor did not hold, it would be her ribs cracking next. Her own elbows were digging into her sides, being squeezed inwards by the scaly bonds. Now, she could feel the smooth and cool skin of the reptile, and it was repulsive. It was like feeling the cold grip of death, and she wheezed for air. If her fear had not taken her breath away by now, the snake certainly would.
Sching! What the mercenary did next reminded her of something she read in a famous poem:
“One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back.”
Well, everything except the ‘carrying the head back’ part. Hans had flown up and with Dark Edge, cleanly sliced through the snake’s head! Suna watched in a mixture of fear and fascination as she watched the head fall to the ground, culvulsing for a few moments before the light in its eyes finally died down and it was still. With the head cut off, the long body slackened and she was released from its death grip.
Then she was falling. Again.
And he caught her. Again.
At least her fall was not as far up as the first time, and he was up in the air, so she landed neatly into the man’s waiting arms. Immediately her arms flew up to encircle his neck, her body trembling as she gasped for air. Oh, blessed air. Whatever armor that managed to escape the snake had now disappeared, save for the helmet.
"I got you."
Never was there more comforting words than the ones he just said. As he leaned his forehead against hers, the helmet dissolved away, letting her forehead touch his and her long hair spill out behind her.
"And you got me too..."
The way he was looking at her, the way he uttered that last part—Suna thought her heart would burst. "I...I..." She was still trying to steady her breathing. "I’m already...I’m already yours..." Her eyes briefly fluttered close as he carried her safely down to the ground and propped her up against the tree. "I’m okay. Nothing’s broken, thanks to you." She gave him a small smile and patted his hand, trying to reassure him that she really was fine. "What about...what?" She did not catch the unspoken meaning of his words, and did not understand what he was implying. "What? Tell you about what?" She prodded.
By now, she was able to calm her rapid heartbeat, although what he did next made it quicken again...but for another reason. He was fishing through his grimoire holder and was now holding out a beautiful blue flower to her. "F-For me?" The female touched the side of her head, feeling for the flower that was no longer there. She had not even realized that she lost it.
Suna melted at how this handsome and strong man before her was offering her a flower. Just mere minutes before, he was fighting his way against several enemies, and now, he was fighting his way through her heart. Either way, he was a victor in both battles. His confident aura and smirk was also something new, momentarily making her shy and flustered. Whether the heat on her cheeks was from the recent excitement or from his actions, one may never know.
The elf brushed her hair behind an ear and tilted the side of her head towards him. "Put it on for me?" Assuming he would, she would tilt her head from side to side, as if to let him admire his handiwork. "Hmm, how do I look?" She would ask cheekily, and whether he answered or not, she would lean in for a quick peck on his mouth. If she stayed there for any longer, she was afraid she would never be able to pull away from kissing him. After their first one in the dungeon, she was starting to think that she may have an addiction concerning him...
"Thank you. For saving me." She murmured, then patted the ground, inviting him to sit next to her. If he did, she would hold on to one of his arms and snuggle up against his side, her head barely reaching the top of his broad shoulders. "What are you going to do with that spear?" With her free arm, she pointed to the item in question. "Back then, you said something about it being enchanted? The mana signature felt different to me, but I don’t know what or why. And the snake..." A slight shudder went through her body as she caught sight of its chopped head, just a few meters away from them. She turned away and looked up at Hans. He looks so much better than that scary skull over there.
"It was so strange, the anti-magic. I didn’t know animals could have it." She made a little humming noise, the sound she usually made when deep in thought. "And what was that boar-man? Was he boar or man...or neither?" Now that the danger had passed, her mind was down to analyzing and decompressing all that had just happened. "The forest here is so strange. What did you think about it?"

“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
"I’m already...I’m already yours..."
These very words were something Hans wasn't expecting. His eyes met with Suna's, mouth open as if he was about to say something, but immediately closed it. She looked so sweet and innocent in his arms, someone that Hans would put his life down to protect, but still very much aware that the elf could fend for herself. So strong yet so gentle. "Then...I am yours as well." Hans gave a slow nod before descending down.
"U-uh n-nothing..." Hans claimed in response to the elf's prodding. He was about to do what the sound mage did for him earlier and check the woman's body for injuries, but he quickly stopped himself because he felt it like it wouldn't have been right to...invade her privacy like that. She said that nothing was broken however so Hans just had to take her word for it. Still, he had his eyes on her, appearing concerned until he decided to retrieve his gift for her.
With the flower still out, all Hans could do was nod at Suna's question. He looked confident, but his mind was filled with uncertainty. Does she really like it? What if she only likes white flowers!? This was a mistake! Paranoia ran through Hans' thoughts with no rest, yet he kept up his confident front. He watched as the woman messed with her hair a little, appearing to be looking for the original flower. Hans' smirk fell into a bit of a frown as he shifted his eyes to the side. "I...don't think you'll be seeing that one...anytime soon." the merc gave a light nervous half chuckle.
With the whole boar/snake fiasco finished, Hans was starting to remember the...interesting situation he was in regarding that white flower, but it was probably for a best to keep that to himself. Didn't want to give Suna anymore fuel to tease him with after all!
She now wanted Hans to put the flower on her. "Hm?" He looked back over to her. Suna had part of her bright blue hair brushed behind her elven ear, and it looked very cute. Hans froze there for a second, looking into her waiting eyes before looking at where she wanted the guy to place the flower. "Oh...sure..." Hans lifted the flower up, and nearly dropped it! He fumbled a bit with it as if making it hit the ground would cause it to disappear forever! Hell with what happened with the white flower, Hans couldn't really be blamed for thinking that..
Finally getting the flower to "settle down" in his hands, Hans let out a sigh of relief before looking back at Suna, his cheeks once again flushed over the thought that she definitely witnessed the man's bumbling. Not like he could make some sort of excuse or redeem himself. Instead, Hans once again looked away, and quietly placed the flower into Suna's hair, luckily able to get it in just right without looking. Hans was now looking at the sound mage from the corner of his eye, focusing on the flower as she tilted her head around. Hans stifled a light chuckle which would've made him sound like he was just exhaling out of his nose, silently adoring how lively the sound mage was.
"O-oh, you loo-" Hans was just about to answer, turning his head to face Suna until she leaned over to sneak a peck from the dark mage's lips. The brief affection was enough to render the man speechless again. A kiss that lasted only a split second yet the taste of Suna's lips remained as if they were still pressed against his. Muscial, loving, cheeky. "Uh, of cour-I mea...yeah..." Hans sat beside the elf. "Thank you...for not...getting eaten..." Hans immediately gave himself a mental facepalm for that one...
With Suna now snuggling up to him, Hans took a deep breath. He could feel the warmth of her body against his, and her head resting safely on his shoulder. The dark mage was beginning to relax, resting his head and back against the tree. His other arm was now slowly moving to the elf. It was hesitant at first, but then he rested his hand on top of one of Suna's, gently rubbing his finger against it. After everything that happened today, the man could honestly fall asleep like this with a beautiful woman against him. Hell, he was just about to until she brought up the staff. "The staff?" Hans had nearly forgotten that thing's existence until he looked over to it still on the ground.
"Oh." It wasn't like Hans to just forget things that fast, but being snuggled up to a cute elf could do that to people!
"Yeah, it's still giving off that strange mana..." She then spoke about the snake and the boar creature, but Hans still had his eyes trained on the spear. He wasn't sure whether to just leave it there or take it. It wasn't like he was a spear person, nor was he a magic knight, but the magic felt interesting. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like the dark mage had a choice in this anyway as another magic signature manifested...."Something's comi-"
With eyes widened, Hans watched a spatial portal instantly open up under the spear! The dark mage's first instinct was to come up from off the tree a bit, and place an arm in front of Suna as if he was trying to shield her from something. The speak sank into the portal before disappearing, both mana signatures now nothing but a memory....
~~~Unspecified Location, Common Region~~~
In an office, a blonde haired woman in a lab like coat sat behind her wide desk, eyeing another figure who was in front of her, with a grimoire out currently glowing. A portal appeared on the ground in front of the mage, and out came a familiar looking spear....
"See! Told you I'd find it!" The figure stuck its tongue out from its hooded cloak. The woman nodded and got up from her seat, and walked over to pick up the spear. "Can't pinpoint the snaky snake though. Maybe if I just...." "No need...." the woman rose a hand up. "It's most likely dead." the woman claimed before inspecting the spear. "Hmmm, mana signature is still intact. Did you find the runaways?" she asked, still looking at the spear while making her way to the door. "Ohhh yes yes! The poofed the piggies back into their pins! Maybe you should fire your guards..." The blonde woman nodded at this before opening the door with her free hand.
On the other side was an indoor balcony with sets of stairs on each end. On the first floor was various other mages in lab like clothing running about doing various tasks, and such. The area is quite expansive, and filled with talking.
The blonde went down one of the stairs while the hooded being skipped down behind her. As the woman passed by some of the others, they stopped what they were doing and gave the woman a sort of salute. She didn't acknowledge any of them while the figure behind her waved to all of them cheerfully. "M-ma'am, do you have a minute? It's about the swor-" one of the workers rushed up to the blonde, but she continued to walk, ignoring him. The woman and peppy hooded figure then approached a door that's magically sealed, but were able to slip right through it by holding up their grimoires.
Inside, there was another set of stairs that the two went down. Upon reaching the bottom, a series of candles lit up on each side, lighting up the room and revealing various small holding areas blocked by similar magic barriers. Walking past them revealed that each space was occupied. Men, women, children, animals, they all filled these prison like spaces with an odd brand on certain parts of their bodies. One of them contained a woman with familiar looking pink hair, but her face was interestingly covered....
The blonde woman stopped at one of the cells....containing that injured boar man and its boar! Upon seeing the woman, the boar scurried fearfully into a corner, and the boar man started to bash its hands angrily against the barrier to no avail. The woman didn't seem phased by this. "I'm impressed. You were able to get so far by using that snake...and this." She claimed before raising the spear up. "But in the end, it was pointless." A sinister smirk appeared on the woman's features. "I'm not done with you. You belong to me...You all do." she claimed before turning her attention to the rest of the cells.
Did he really just say that? Suna had not expected him to respond like how he did...but he did. Her heart jumped. She felt like she had just bonded herself into some sort of commitment with him. Was this what the books meant by ‘being in a relationship’? Whatever it was, he had proven himself worthy time and time again, and she trusted him with her life. He had saved her...how many times now?
Despite his awkward actions, the elf found it adorable whenever he fumbled around, even when it was something as simple as putting a flower in her hair. Of course, she did not know what the mercenary had been doing before he came rushing to the scene to save her—she just assumed he was looking around for her. Little did she know what had actually happened, where the original white flower had ended up. She probably would not have believed it even if she knew.
The poor guy had looked so uncertain even after he put it on her, Suna had to laugh and try to assure him. "I love it! And blue is better than white anyways." It was also satisfying to see how her small show of affection had affected the man so much. The way he stammered and looked lost for words showed her that he was not immune to her actions. A small part of her wondered what he would do if she pushed further...
"Thank you...for not...getting eaten..."
"Hmm, I wouldn’t have tasted very good anyways, and besides, I know you wouldn’t have let it eat me." She said confidently. Then the blue-haired femme was cuddling against his side, though she did not realize it as such. He had let her lean against him, and his hand was over hers. Those small, innocent touches sent shivers up her arm and body. Was it just her who was enjoying the physical intimacy that much?
Then he was responding to her questions, and it seemed like he also had no idea what to make of those strange visitors. It was all very interesting. Intriguing. If one was to see her now, the elf’s azure eyes were slightly glazed. Her brain was busy at work, trying to bring to mind if anything she had read before was related to this. So far, she could not come up with anything specific...
"Something's comi-"
Instantly, she tensed, both of her hands grabbing onto Hans’ arm that was shielding her. A spatial portal appeared underneath the dropped weapon, and she watched it drop through and close up. It all happened within a few moments, and it seemed like the spear was never there. She would have missed it entirely if they had not been looking and talking about it. "W-What just happened?" After what they had just gone through, her nerves were prone to be on edge. She whipped her head over to where the mutilated snake was. It was still there.
"Why didn’t they take that instead?" She pointed at the creature in question. Even though it was dead, the sight of the scaly skin and lifeless eyes could still give her goosebumps. However, the anti-magic properties of it perked her interest. "Do you think...the skin can still cancel out magic even though it’s dead?" It was enough for her to get up and examine it up closer. There was a feeling that they should somehow bring it back with them...or at the very least take a bit of it. She was convinced that it is connected with the strange pair of boars and the sudden disappearance of the spear—but did not know how.
Suna looked around. "Ah, yes..." She bounded over to a nearby bush and snapped off one of its larger leaves. Then she went back to the snake head, and using the leaf as a sort of barrier between her hand and the snake, attempted to pull off a piece of its skin. She would struggle to no avail, and sheepishly look over to the man, who was sure to be watching on and wondering what in the world she was doing.
"Erm, can I borrow Dark Edge for a second? Or can you chop off a piece of this for me?" Whether he let her use his sword or whether he chopped it off himself was up to him, but she would then wrap it up carefully and place it in her pouch. Suna was still scared of snakes, but only if they were alive. "I’ll study it and read up on it later."
Then she caught sight of something shiny from inside the body part of the reptile. She leaned over and saw that it was her Crescendo ring! Somehow, it had not exploded upon contact. However, she was not going to take it back; she could always make another one. The pure aura mage waved her hands and caused the spell to disappear. Her mind was already whirling with possibilities on what she could find about it. Curiosity did not completely take away her fear, but it did ease it to something more bearable.
It was all a mystery, but that would be for another day. Right now, she only wanted to focus on the dashing young man with her. Suna went over to wherever he was and lightly tugged on his arm. "Do you have somewhere to go later today?" Pursing her lips, she turned her beseeching eyes on him. "If not, can you take me home? I’m a tiny bit scared that I’ll run into another strange thing on the way..." Then she dropped her gaze, a little embarrassed at showing her more vulnerable side. But he had been willing to open up to her, so she felt comfortable doing the same.
"B-But if you’re busy, that’s okay!" Suna started pulling out her broom. "I guess I can just fly really fast..." She shuffled her feet, but sneaked peeks up at the mercenary and waited for his answer. If he did decide to escort her home, she would throw her arms around him in gratitude. "Yay, thank you!"
Assuming that he would share a ride with her, the elf would beam and make room for him on her broom. "I’ll steer, because you haven’t seen my new place yet, right? I just moved there recently, but haven’t gotten it all fixed up yet." She would then remember how the mercenary always stood on his broom whenever he fought, and would duck her head. "M-My balance isn’t that good yet, but I promise my steering won’t make you fall off!"
Off they would go, towards the Common Region. After a while, they would arrive in a small village, and Suna would gently land on the outskirts, where her current lodgings were. It was a quaint establishment, not very big, considering that she was living there by herself. The outside was plain
"Welcome to my new house." She unlocked the front door, then paused. Was this going to be too bold of her? She hesitated, but only for a moment. The elf turned her head back to face Hans. "Want to come in? I haven’t finished tidying and designing all the rooms yet, but there’s plenty of space for you to rest if you’re tired. I can also cook something up...if you’re hungry?" Whether the mercenary accepted her offer into her house was up to him, but the elf would make sure to lock the door securely behind her. She has had enough of snakes and wild beasts for one day.
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
Gone.
Without a trace, that spear was gone, engulfed by that spatial portal.
Hans was still looking in the direction of where the object once was, his arm still defensively up and in front of Suna, feeling her concerned touch against it. He would try to sense the mana of both the spear and portal but it was out of range. Slowly his arm lowered back down as Suna asked her question. "I don't know." Hans replied in a low, unsure tone. She then brought up the snake which Hans turned to look at. Indeed it was still there. "I...I don't know." he repeated. All of this happened so fast, and the merc had no answer for this. Maybe it was the boars? No...the signature that portal gave off was different from the both of them. But there could not have been anyone else here...right?
As Hans looked around cautiously, the man looked back at the dead snake once more. "I'm not sure..." It was just a barrage of uncertain answers coming from the dark mage's mouth. An even better question is, how is it even able to cancel out magic!? The merc didn't think something like that was possible. "Uh, Suna...?" The dark mage immediately had his eyes on the elf as she got up and grabbed a large leaf. She was now making her way to the reptilian corpse, causing Hans to get on his feet, and make his way over, a bit concerned, and confused.
Apparently she wanted to borrow Hans' sword to chop off a piece of the snake? It was already dead...Did she just want to make sure it was completely gone? No, obviously that wasn't the answer. Whatever it was, Hans trusted Suna enough...and even trusted her with his sword. Hans unsheathed his blade and looked at it for a second before handing it towards her hilt first. "Sure..." Hans was still not exactly sure about this, but let her do it anyway.
After the deed was done, Hans got his sword back and slid it back into the sheathe before watching Suna wrap the piece of the snake up. Before he could question this, Suna spoke up, giving the man his answer. "Ah, I see." Hans nodded. Maybe it would be smart to get some information on this snake. It's obviously not natural, and certainly not native to this forest. The merc felt a tug on his arm, and looked back at Suna. She wanted...him to accompany her back home!? "U-uh...I..." Hans was losing his ability to speak yet again. The question came out of nowhere to him, but it made sense. Also the way the sound mage looked shyly at Hans, it was so irresistible, leaving Hans' face red once again. Hopefully the amount of blood that's been rushing to his head this day wouldn't leave him feeling TOO light headed...
"Y-Yeah...Of course." Hans replied with a hesitant yes. He was suddenly brought into another hug but her arms were around his so he couldn't really hug back. Didn't stop him from smiling lightly underneath that flushed expression. With all that happened, the dark mage wasn't going to just let Suna head off on her own!
Hans got on Suna's broom, and sat behind her. It felt strange...and a bit uncomfortable, but he wasn't sure if standing on it would throw Suna's balance off. The merc placed his hands on his lap instead of wrapping them around the woman's waist, afraid of making things awkward despite how...bold he was earlier. "No need to worry. I trust you." Hans said with another light smile. Plus, if he ever did end up falling off, the merc could always just get on his own broom...
After some quiet flying, the two were at the Common Region, arriving to the outskirts of some small village. Once they landed, Hans got off and took a look at the elf's place of residence. To most it probably wasn't much, but Hans was obviously impressed....but then again he's practically homeless, so anything with a roof over it looked good to him. "Nice." was all Hans could think of to say.
Once Suna opened her door, the merc was just about ready to get his broom and head out. "I'll see you late-" Hans paused, watching Suna turn around.
"Want to come in?"
Yet another question Hans wasn't ready for. He dropped his broom, and just looked at Suna. He heard the other things she was saying, but his mind was also on that question.
...She was letting him inside....her house?
This probably wasn't a big deal to most, but to Hans it felt like going not only past her boundaries, but beyond that! But she offered, so it should be fine...especially since they were more than just friends, but that there made Hans' heart pound more. Before his brain could fully come up with an answer, Hans' mouth opened...
"I-I'll help cook!" He blurted out before biting his lower lip to silence himself. "I..I mean...sure....Thank you." Hans claimed before picking his broom up, nearly dropping it two times before getting a proper grip. He didn't know where that first response came from. Hans doesn't even know how to cook....
With a sigh to try and calm himself, Hans placed the broom on his back and decided to walk in after Suna, stopping in between the door for a split second wondering if this was truly okay before stepping fully in, the door being locked shut afterwards...
