Players are allowed to purchase NPC characters! These characters can be canon "members" of the site right alongside your character, and can have their own colourful backstory. They can fill gaps for squads, family members, servants for noble families, or even slaves or minions of an evil character!

When purchasing a NPC, you are buying a base model. Each rank’s base model comes with a few different things. Please see the chart below to see what your base model would be. You may always buy a lower ranked NPC and build their story right beside your own character, and rank up through upgrades. Or, you may opt to wait for a later rank to buy a higher ranked base model.

Mentor NPCs are those that a player can buy at a discounted rank and are the only ones that are allowed to be a rank higher than the character! A player can buy these at 50% base cost of that model’s rank. They can be up to an Intermediate Base Model in stats and skill set.

Players are able to buy stats to further boost their NPC’s power! Spells are learned through the normal method, though the NPC will not need to have spell points in order to learn spells but must pay by gold. Perks can be gained upon ranking up that NPC. Magic Specialty Perks for your magic type will still be free and will not count towards the NPC’s total pool!

Players often wish to go on challenges that push their characters to their limit. They are able to use their NPCs in missions and threads in any way they see fit. If you have a mentor NPC you may go on a mission higher than you as long as the npc is of rank. You may only bring two NPCs on missions.

NPCs are great at aiding in adventures throughout a dungeon. Perhaps you’ve got a small group gathered, but really need some more fire power or extra heals. NPCs can fill these gaps. Their cut of the dungeon will just go towards your main character! You may only bring two NPCs on dungeons.

Players in squads will be able to make NPCs from said squad. These NPCs will not gain gold stars, but will be considered in the squad in any rank the player wishes that is below their current own standing. The same can be said for those in organizations or other groups outside of the Magic Knight system. While these NPCs numbers are not formally tracked, they will be considered full fledged members of these groups.

If the squad or organization is in a plot related event, then these NPCs can be used! For Captain and Vice Captain requirements to thread with other squad members, these NPCs do not count. You may only bring two NPCs to events, though each event is subject to change.

Are you the noble that grew up without ever having to lift a finger because you had a maid? How about a lovable butler that you liked to boss around all day. What about a family member that you still are rather close to? NPCs can make excellent servants and family members for smaller noble houses. If these NPCs are slaves, than you will not be looked favorably with the law.

GENERAL

- You can only roll once for grimoire tiers for an NPC.
- You may only have a single Mentor NPC ever!
- You may only own 3 NPCs per account at a time.
- NPCs' mana skin and health are equal to that of a mage of their own rank.
- You may only ever own a single platinum NPC - this is on all accounts.
- NPCs cannot gain life, or increase perks.
- If any NPC dies in a thread, it can be revived within the same thread. But if it is not, then the NPC will die and you will lose all their stuff.
- NPCs must have their own stat sheets. These can be linked into yours, underneath yours in the same thread, or something - but they need everything they do tracked and recorded!
- NPCs gain the element affinity boons that their element(s) comes with!
- NPC's may only have a single mana perk

- You may pay the gold cost of a spell and they will auto learn it.
- You may pay the spell point cost of a spell and they will auto learn it.
- You may train the spell with them via RP. (Same word counts apply for them as they do for players.)

- They can utilize mundane and magic items that are of their rank and element. (Same rules apply to them as they do to the players.)
- They may only ever carry 2 items with them at a time, this can not be increased by any means.
- They cannot use spirits.
- They may own a single relic, however, this takes from the players relic cap.
- If they take a relic into a thread but it takes the players relic spot for the thread in question.

- You may have the word count for a thread be applied to the NPC, though no increase perks/items/events will apply to them. They will also earn stats at a slower rate of 1:1250 words.
- You may pay for stat increase boost, though these are costly.
- Their stat pool cannot come within 10% of your current total stat pool.
- Only a single NPC can be considered Grand rank. None can ascend to Archmage.

- If your NPC ranks up via purchasing stat points or through RP means, they will gain the bonuses of said rank up.
- If you buy an NPC at a starting rank, it will not gain these rank up bonuses retroactively.
- NPCs can utilize Advanced Magic Spec perks if they so desire.
