Upon closing the portals in the house, the imps flee once more, resulting in another wild chase across town into other houses that are either uninhabited or for rent. Finding that there seem to be various other locations where imps are being summoned from, it might lead one to believe that whoever is responsible for it might be trying to rob the entire town before moving to the next and gradually robbing the entire kingdom for all that it is worth. Albeit a scheme that appears to be on too large a scale for some imps, it seems that the flames that have been up for a while are growing in size.

Maximum Number of Players: 4 [break]Minimum Word Count: 2500 [break]Location: Aries Garse [break]Special Requirements: Find a way to put out the flames that can be found around the various buildings, as simply dousing it with water does nothing, proving they are magical in origin. Be inventive, and seal the growing imp-gates from getting any larger. Ps: going about killing whatever you find will get you no closer to figuring out what is happening, and will result in automatic failure. Only take out the Summoner.

To this end, they also use their ash magic to disappear into a puff of smoke and reappear somewhere in their line of sight. When given the chance, they will be running straight home. [break]Additional Information: These furry little humanoids stand at a height no taller than twenty centimeters, making them fairly easy to step on or trip over. Their dark skin and fur colors make them hard to spot in the dark.

Using their claws to rend flesh and their smoke magic to blink across the room and close the distance, they also leave clouds of smoke in their wake in an attempt at choking any humans into an unconscious state. While they are not killers, they won’t hesitate to choke someone out and leaving them unconscious if it means getting a chance at freedom. Health Limit: Senior [break]Physical Speed: 10 m/s [break]Physical Damage: Senior [break]Magic Element and Types: Fire | Restraining & Attack Creation [break]Combat Style: Upon realizing the gates are being closed, the summoner will show himself, attempting to keep people from sealing away his growing armies on the other side. Because he can control the imps with his magic, they are not in control of themselves, meaning they will uncharacteristically fight you this time. Additionally, the mage will use binding magic and fireballs to keep you from doing what needs to be done. [break]Additional Information: Just a small-time mage dabbling in some fire magic, he found out that there was going to be a tournament that would award the winner a good sum of money. Wanting to get in on this, he accidentally found a place where a strange green flame flickered. Sticking his hand in, it fed on some of his magic, causing an imp to come fumbling out. Finding that he could control this creature to some extent, he started feeding in more of his mana into the flames until more and more were coming out. Learning how to create duplicates of these flaming gates, he envisioned a way to not only win this tournament, but to quite literally rob the entire country.
Continuing their chase, Griswold had gradually been getting enough of constantly having to go around in circles, though finding and taking care of the portal these creatures were coming from was certainly a big step in the right direction, or so he believed. But as he followed them across town while quickly gaining ground due to the sheer difference in speed, he began to notice some rather upsetting signs along the way. Due to having been in such close proximity to it, the black knight had more or less managed to figure out the signature of the fiery portals as they were essentially just constructs made out of an outlandish mana. Wanting to stop and deal with them, it turned out that there was an entirely different house with the same signatures inside of it, up until the point where he could tell that there were at least four different houses that held these flame gates.
Hitting the breaks in the center of the street, he watched as the imps went into one of the smaller homes, disappearing into the darkness. While he could still sense them and tell that they remained inside of the building, it meant that they had nowhere left to hide once these remaining buildings had been taken care of. Truth be told, there was an overly large part of him that wondered as to what their reasoning behind creating these portals had been. Because there was a chance that they were some kind of refugees from another world, though there was also a chance that these smaller ones were just scouts for a larger army of similar beings looking to cross over. Due to the larger version of these creatures that had instinctively lashed out at him in the previous building, he knew that they were out there at least. But once it had taken a hit, it seemed to be just as cowardly as the others, hardly making it a soldier.
On the other hand, he also had to take into consideration that they were not crossing over on their own, and that someone here had been making these portals to begin with. So far, he had not seen a single one of these creatures using any kind of fire magic, instead using what seemed like some sort of teleportation magic based on smoke or sulfur. All things considered, there was a lot of things that simply were not adding up as there were too many unknown variables at play. Right now, what they needed was to be gathered up together, take a house that had been given portals by the imps or whatever creature or person might have put it there, close them up and then work towards the last of the houses to deal with the remaining problem. Because once the three surrounding buildings got taken care of, there would truly be nowhere left to run once they stormed into the fourth and final house.
Raising his hand up to the sky, he released a projectile of solar mana, making it bright enough to see and keeping it going as far up as he could so the others would be able to see exactly where it originated from. Once it was at the very end of its path and could move no further, the projectile would erupt violently in a burst of light that illuminated the night sky. Though it caused some people to stir in their homes and look out through the window, it seemed that most of them had gone with the assumption that it was just some sort of fireworks going off. With his variation of a flare sent up, it would most likely only be a matter of time before the other two made their way over to where Griswold was, so he would patiently wait. The way he saw it, the imps did not pose much of a threat, nor did the portals work very quickly, or they would have long since been facing dozens of them by now.
“I managed to track them to that building over there, though we have a couple of additional problems. The portals we closed in the previous house, it seems that there are quite a few more of them in the area. As it stands, I managed to magically locate them to those three houses, so I’m convinced the best way forward would be to take those out first and then move to the last house. Agreed?”
Speaking as soon as they had both arrived at the scene, he pointed at the buildings he had more or less “scanned” with his sensory abilities, he did not really care who went where first, as long as the three buildings were handled before they headed into the last one to really figure out a way to deal with the true problem. One way or the other, they were going to be fixing this, though he simply had no idea how to really go about it, as killing the creatures would really only become an option once they proved they were actually out to harm and kill people.
Name of Spell: Variable Star: Subdwarf Elemental Type: Solar Rank & Spell Type: Intermediate | Attack Creation & Sensory Range & Speed: 40 meters (35m AoE) | 20 m/s (AoE does not extend out of Max rank range) Mana Cost: 20 mp | 10 mp sustain Stats Effected: +6 Power Applicable Perks: Overpowered & Battle Knight (& Area of Triumph) Description: A spell that releases a fast moving ball of solar mana at a target determined upon the moment of creation. Utilizing "homing" rules in order to chase down the target until the projectile is destroyed or the caster runs out of mana, it also uses "ammo" rules to increase the amount of projectiles fired by 1 for every 20 Control the caster has. In addition, these projectiles flare up from time to time, allowing them to blind those looking at it for one whole post. These "stars" can flare up to blind someone once every two posts in which they're active, making them rather tricky to deal with. Upon hitting a target, they explode to cover a certain radius, knocking targets back 4 meters + 5 meters for every 10 Power the caster possesses. During the day, the spell takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.

Magnus made his way after Griswold, he wasn't sure what direction the man was moving in but with Connor's sensory skills, he had a general idea of where the man could've run off too, ordinarily, Griswold's speed didn't bother him, like earlier when it came to keeping track of his movements, but this time Griswold had left out hot on the chase of those imps and though his height was large, in a run-down basement trying to keep track of Griswold's fleeting footsteps was hard and damn near improbable. He wasn't able to fit out of the small basement window, luckily the steps just like when they came down them were still intact, otherwise, he was sure he'd have to hoist himself up and get his suit dirty. He had managed to keep it nearly completely clean except for the dust slowly caking itself onto his socks and suit pants.
The thought of his suit getting any dirtier than it already was caused his smile to advert into that of a stagnate impassive appearance as he didn't want to show on his face that he was displeased, and considering that he was now focusing all his attention on running and looking for those dang imps he was sure his suit would only get all the more ruined in the case if that's where it ended. There was more to this whole thing and all of them knew it. He was sure Griswold had some ideas that were probably ruminating, or at least he liked to think so, and if not he wouldn't be surprised if the man was just winging it, seeing where fate led him and tackling the problems head-on as they came. Maybe even a mix of both, he couldn't tell what Griswold was thinking most of the time, just only that his actions spoke volumes. It was because of this that Magnus's curiosity and fascination with the man had peaked and though now he was breathing heavy and ragged just trying to keep up with him he still found himself enjoying his burst of energy.
Although people had been wronged and probably hurt, and even though creatures were being used for some nefarious deed, probably even against their will, Magnus felt a spark of joy inside him that was growing ever-present. It was the same feeling that he wanted to be a magic knight, the same feeling that made him happy and ecstatic to no end. The same feeling he could practically see in his daughter's eyes when she talked about wanting to become a Blue Rose member.
He figured these random experiences were something to be looked upon with favor and reverence, after all, this was practically training for him. As a magic knight or at least in his dream of being one, he was sure that having to track down odd situations like this and solving them came with the territory, things would most likely be much dangerous than what he had just experienced, and would probably even continue to experience as this chase went on and especially when it came to a halt. His mind wandered with the thoughts and began to backtrack on how he, Connor, and Griswold had approached things, where they could've been more careful or changed things. What good were past experiences if one couldn't learn from them after all?
With his mind freshly occupied by faux situations and thoughts of the future that could possibly resemble experiences from the past Magnus's breathing began to steady, he wiped the sweat from his brow and began to change course slightly to the right as a large blast of mana shot into the sky, from the looks of it, it was likely from Griswold as it was much like the magic skill he had seen the man use earlier within the night. His magic certainly intrigued him and the way it lit up the night sky was wonderous in Magnus's eyes. A beautiful sight to behold, he took a mental snapshot of it, as he was sure this would be something he'd like to incorporate into a painting of some sort eventually. Perhaps he would even gift it to Griswold if he was into the arts. Although something told him that Griswold was a man that could appreciate fine art when given the time and leisure to do so. The thought brought his smile back to his face, and as he glanced over at Connor and spoke the words "Looks like there's our rallying beacon, Connor." He made his way over to the signal Griswold had thrown up, making sure to take long strides with his large legs, his posture as poised as ever.
Magnus let out a breath of relief as Griswold finally appeared within his line of sight, however, his pace didn't slow. He still kept moving until he was within talking distance of him. As Griswold spoke Magnus took the time to catch his breath. Breathing in through his nostrils and cycling the breaths in quick long bursts. Magnus was in awe of Griswold's quick work, and he couldn't help but wonder just what was Griswold's standing in the world around them for him to be so experienced in such matters. He was sure that at some point he'd want to hear his story. He turned to Connor and gave a quick nod in mutual understanding. As he was sure Connor could comprehend what Griswold was saying. Magnus didn't want to kill any of the creatures but he also knew the portals needed to be closed. "I guess this means it's time for us to do a little house appraising," Magnus said with a smile. Although to be truthful he was only half-joking. Once everything was wrapped up he was sure some of these old houses could be fixed up and sold, when not infested with imps. "I agree, it's a great plan. I suppose it's time to get started. Hopefully, we can figure out what's going on here, and these houses may provide some clues." Magnus said, his smile growing ever-wider. It was time to destroy some portals.

The paintbrushes are ornate in design, with swirls of small patterns and silver in color. They have purple bristles that fade into white at their tips. Nothing is too special about these paintbrushes on their own except they are sturdy and have no need for a palette as they are capable of producing any color of paint on their own with a small infusion of mana. These paintbrushes were a gift to Magnus from his mother when he was younger and as such he cherishes them dearly but also uses them for his magic. However, as they are a magical set, they all share the same durability, thus if his weapon was to break even if it was just one paint brush due to an attack capable of destroying a junior rank weapon all of them would break. Outside of the fact that they can release paint, these weapons are nothing more than blunt objects. As such they cannot be used to stab or pierce without the usage of a spell or its ability. Connor whizzed through the uncrowded streets with no hint of abandoning the task at hand, the cobblestones unsteadily gave him traction as he ran, the few people that were there got out of his way. Brushing his hair out of his eyes, he noticed the chill in the air, which was refreshing in its own sort of way given that he was exercising more and more lately. His finesse with a dagger wasn’t always brought into question, but his running pace was dwindling as far as Griswold was concerned. He looked up into the night sky as a firework sort of spell lit up the evening, Magic knights were a force to be reckoned with, that was for sure. Connor would hate to be on the receiving end of any such spell, and the display of prowess reinforced the notion it would be good to keep a clean nose around Griswold. Magnus was keeping pace and as Connor pointed out the directions they were to go to catch up with Griswold, they were seldom lost, just we’ll and truely tarrying behind. Connor’s hold on his Grimoire was uncertain as he leafed through it, no new spells yet but that was trivial in contrast, he ventured a locator of a spell to chart their course. From where they had been to where they would eventually end up, the spells name was glean, and it had been useful in the past. In his time away from chasing demonic forces around the countryside, Connor lived an otherwise fruitful life cheating and stealing from other citizens of Clover.
If his life had been any harder, he might have not been more successful. The life of a rogue was a simple one, the laws being guidelines entailing how to make a living. Tales of errant ruffians being caught, a faithful reminder. Consequences were slim to extreme; the middle ground often found you serving a stint in jail or prison, nothing ruined your street credentials like time in the big house. Connor avoided this, this far at least. The rendezvous point was subtle, succinct, and every bit just as to where ever Griswold found himself to be at that current moment. He spoke, Connor listened; affirming his attention with a brief nod in a bout of lucidity mixed with contrite yet abysmal respect. A portion of his effort was divided between gleaning the information he needed, to formulate a response and wondering where Magnus was. He found that Magnus had arrived ahead of him and while he was catching his breath and briefly greeted them for the umpteenth time. “Ahoi hoi, no arguments from me.” A brief pause as he inhaled then exhaled profusely a couple of times, then he spoke more calmly and collectively, showing an aim and direction, “Just point out the houses and we should be golden.”
It would be a long time before Connor recovered from this outing, at the end of the night he would be happy to at least have a shower with cold water. He had pocketed the hard mint that had been conveyed into him by Magnus, he had developed a fondness for the sugary sweet confectionary. Perhaps it was his addictive personality, but they were good chewing and he enjoyed them immensely. They gave him a short burst of energy that he was otherwise devoid of. Everything up until this point had been arbitrary, to say the least they had found the cause of the gambler’s luck fouling, ventured into a foul dominion of imps and closed some infernal portal that had been found in a building. Apparently, as Griswold had elicited, there were more such dwellings. Connor struggled to comport himself in a manner that was meaningful but he felt as though it was certainly something to do. For lack of anything better, his responses were simple and the task at hand only complicated his ordinarily superficial mentality. His demeanour was hardly a countenance but he was present irregardless.
Having brought upon his plan, or rather the thing that was more or less the only solution to the problem that was quite literally right in front of them, he picked one of the houses that was furthest away. Knowing that he was by far the fastest member on this team, he wandered towards it at a decent enough pace. For at this point, knowing exactly what they were up against meant that it would not be all that hard to get rid of the problem were it to come down to a brawl. It was one of those instances where it showed how rigorous training and a dedication towards becoming stronger and more skilled just paid off. Not needing to reach for his sword and he used his momentum to quite literally barrel right through the boarded up-front door, the first thing he saw when he came to a standstill were more of the tiny critters.
Abandoning the building through every nook they could find, it was clear enough that these things had not come here to fight, for they had been given plenty of room and opportunity to attack any one of them by this point. But the fact that they hadn’t meant that they were either smart enough to realize that they more than likely would not be able to win, or simply because they never planned on fighting anyone when they made their way into this world in the first place. Pitying them in a way, he wanted to figure out who was doing this, as well as what they were trying to do now that they were here. But up until this point, it seemed like they did not grasp the language of the land or simply refused to heed the words they spoke because they were too busy running for their lives. Whatever the case, figuring them out would have to wait until the portals were closed and the culprit caught.
As the closing of portals was something he could actually do at this point now that his Ki had become attuned to the wavelength of them, he could freely wander throughout the house and find them. Shutting the one on ground level down immediately, he made his way up the staircase so as to get to two more of them. As he arrived however, he saw how they were just in the process of spawning more of the impish creatures. And while he could have shut them down then and there with his magic, he did not want to risk killing these creatures as he did not know enough about them. If it turned out they were hostile and planned to take over the world, he would quite literally burn all of them with his own two hands, but until that much was certain, he could not bring himself to commit such violent acts against them.
When the first portal had opened up and the imp fell out, Griswold wasted no time in closing it down before the next might try to line up and get through. But when the other portal finished spawning, the first thing he did was reach down and pick up the creature that had just fallen out. As it began scratching and biting at his glove, Griswold closed the portal before making another attempt at speaking to it, wanting to know what they were doing here and where it was that they were coming from. Believing that if he could only figure out a little bit right now, that it would help him out a lot in the near future when it mattered, he asked the question that made the most sense right now.
“Stop biting me and listen. Why are you coming here, and what is your purpose?”
For a moment, it seemed as if his words were reaching the imp, who’s eyes widened as they looked back at him, almost as if it were in awe. But when Griswold had to protect himself from the other imp tossing an old candlestick at his face, he ended up dropping the little guy, allowing the two imps to make their escape and leave the building in a puff of smoke. Somewhat annoyed by this turn of events, he kicked the candlestick across the room and broke it into pieces before turning back towards the staircase and making his way back out. With at least this building cleaned out and the others hopefully having gone about handling theirs, he would wait temporarily in the streets before moving on the final house that seemed to hold the most of these portals and signs of life. If they were to get any answers, it made sense that they would be found there, rather than the other buildings.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus nodded in agreement to Griswold's words only to watch as the resolved man sprung into action with a speed that always astonished Magnus each time he saw it, he wondered within the depths of his mind if he too would ever be as fast as Griswold was. The thought was something that lingered within his psyche, only to be astonished at the fact that there were still so many strong people within the Clover Kingdom that he had yet to lay eyes on. He knew not the true levels of Griswold's strength, but he had no doubt in his mind that out of the three of them, Griswold was by far the strongest of them all.
Upon Connor's words of pointing out the house Magnus's eyes began to glance around trying to get the lay of the land, he decided that it would best to go on the opposite side of Griswold, to the houses that the two of them together could tackle, while Griswold swept the others. Upon his decision, Magnus would quite literally point out the house he wanted to go to, this one was a simple two-story house, it looked like it had been abandoned much like the previous one they had tracked the mischievous imps from, although this one didn't look as bad for ware, he had no doubt that there was a very good chance that the house itself was being remolded probably for renting or selling purposes as some of the other houses seemed to have already been put through some hasty renovations, they weren't the best-looking houses but for the area, they were in, Magnus wasn't surprised. He did, however, make the mental note that if people were still willing to move out this way, he could at least build some better, decent houses for them through the use of his family; for rent of course. After all, nothing in this world was truly free, but he at the very least would make sure they were affordable for the area they were in, long-standing, and free of any imps.
“I suggest we head over to those on the left, Connor. If you wouldn't mind accompanying me again." Magnus stated as his head turned to the direction of his pointer finger, in the direction of the houses on the left. "I think we should start closest and then work our way down. Keep your guard, up and your eyes and ear open dear boy because I feel things are about to heat up." Magnus said with a bit of cheer, yet still with a serious air to his tone. Making his way over to the home, on the left presumably with Connor alongside him, Magnus slowly opened the door to peer inside, the layout of this house looked much like the others, except this house, happened to be devoid of any furnishing or any privileges of color, and life. Except for the tiny footsteps that could be heard scattering about as the door opened.
Magnus made his way inside slowly cracking the door, taking gentle steps which were quite the contrast to his large size, this door was only for the average size man of the clover kingdom, and as such Magnus found himself having to lean down in order to make it inside. His head was only about a foot away from the ceiling of the first floor, and Magnus looked around to see any signs of the imp only to see the occasional mark of soot. However, as he made his way deeper into the house, making sure to put himself in front of Connor for protection's sake, he began to smell smoke, and soot, the house began to feel warmer, and unlike the previous home they were in the duo would come to find that the first floor was devoid of any signs of life, nor was there any basement door. Which meant the only way left to go now, was up or out, and considering they had yet to check the upper floors, up seemed like the right choice of action.
Magnus made his way up the stairs only to see, glimpses of color, that reminded him of the imp portal he had found before, chittering could be heard almost like the squeaks of mice, but Magnus knew from the smell alone that these were no mice. As they made their way up the stairs they would come upon an opening where the light grew brighter and brighter, and finally, as they'd arrive on the second floor, Magnus still making sure to maintain a silent composure, found that there were three imps staring right at him as he walked onto the hallway of the second floor. The imps made a quick exit toward the door on the right-hand side, clearly startled by the mages. Magnus would give chase to the small creatures, though he didn't intend to harm them, especially considering Griswold's earlier warning, he had made it quite clear that he wasn't fond of anyone that would do creatures who were simply being used harm. Magnus in turn agreed, and he knew these imps were simply creatures who were being pulled here for the benefit of someone else's dastardly deeds. Magnus made a mental note that when they found out who that person was he would make sure that they were brought to justice.
Magnus took out his wand and made his way toward the door the imps had gone in, however, before he could cast a spell, the imps poofed away within a puff of smoke. With the imps gone and them entering the room, Magnus and Connor would be face to face, with yet another portal they had once stumbled upon, Magnus begin to let his mana flow to the tip of his paintbrush wand, hues of blue and silver would flow from the tip, they had destroyed the summoning portals once before, this was just yet another time for them to do it again, and Magnus had a feeling that this wouldn't be the last. Although for Magnus, it did beg the question of just what was causing these damn imps to come through. What was the true purpose and just why did they set up so many portals? It was clear then to Magnus that this operation was one that was meant to be on a much larger scale, and he had a hunch that the pickpocketing that was going on in this area was just a prelude and practice for whatever was being planned. He had no doubt in his mind that the true goal of this "operation" was for it to span throughout the entirety of the Clover Kingdom, and he for one wasn't willing to let that happen. "After we destroy this portal, I think we should move carefully, the imps are clearly more scared of us than we are of them, however, considering we just stumbled upon another portal its safe to assume that whoever or whatever is behind this has been setting this up for quite a while and probably has some rather large plans for them. Stay on your guard dear boy, and if you would do this old man the kindness of letting me be your shield, I would not protest even in the toughest of dangers."

Summary: Magnus follows Griswold's instructions/ lead and goes to the closet house on the left, presumably with Connor in tow. The house has no furnishing or paints as of yet, looks similar to the first they went in except it has no basement, upon going up the stairs they'd find two imps who hightail it into the room on the left, and then poof away in a puff of smoke, however, this would bring Magnus and Connor face to face with a portal which he begins to cast a spell in order to attempt to destroy it alongside Connor. Magnus also makes a request of Connor.

They passed a hooded figure, a shape; bipedal and garish in garb, Connor noticed the person, with mixed feelings of consternation and contrition he fickly strode on despite the looming presence. Connor was uncertain if the others had noticed the figure, thinking that it was more than most likely a citizen. Despite the intrinsic nature of the mana emanating from him in signatures that were dissimilar to the portals, Connor only internally imbibed the information rather than following up on his suspicions. Was the hooded figure that was lurking on the outskirts of his senses angry? The figure seemed perturbed and hastily moving askant to their objectives, Connor waited for a moment before following after Magnus, pantomiming a distinct body language of awareness and confidence he resigned to proceed with the closing of the portals plan. As Magnus guided him, Connor felt the hairs on the back of his next stand up. The familiar smell progenataying a feeling of remorse stung his nostrils, swiftly albeit lazily Connor rifled through his pockets looking for one of the mints Magnus had given him. After securing the sweet hard lolly he popped it into his mouth and was relieved by the clean crispness of something other than stove ash and sulphur. The imps, who were scurrying all over the room they entered, cackled and leapt from floor to wall before dispersing once more. “Arbitrative as it seems, but the magic knights can probably deal with these infernal spawnlings, should they escape.” Magnus had spoken with assurance of Connor’s safety, which made him feel secure enough to venture past the man and continue speaking uninhibited. “Perhaps a researcher would be interested in their anatomy?” Connor propensity for idle conversation was banter-less and did little to stifle his lack of creativity, his lucidity was revolving around his egoistic sensibilities and he regarded Magnus with genuine appreciation.
Kicking some bones away from him, he proceeded to walk back down the stairs after Magnus had closed the portal. The heat was unbearable, a conviction of unenthusiastic proportions trickled down his neck. Connor snapped his fingers above his Grimoire, casting a spell in these conditions took an aspect of control that Connor unsurprisingly was capable of conjuring. The golden trimmed quasi book rested in his palms, the thin gilded pages translucently glowed a shimmering bronze. They had been followed by a figure that was hooded and cloaked. Brandishing a dagger; the figure was poignant yet reproachful in thoughts of consideration, Connor regarded the man with varying levels of subtle depreciation, the knife was as good as between his ribs already. The summoner falsely wasted time regarding Connor with surprise, throwing back the robes to reveal a richly hued attire of sulphur stained whites and brilliantly dazzling blues. Although ornately dressed, Connor couldn’t have described the look of consternation he saw on The Summoner’s face better than by simply offhandedly passing comment, ”Must be kind of hard… wearing white.” Swallowing hard, sweat trickled from Connor’s brow as he whispered, “Change.” As Connor spoke, The Summoner leapt forward with a crazed but affordably confident expression. Letters of mark and receipts of Yul fell out of the Summoner’s pockets as he attacked Connor, who uncharacteristically slipped on something he hadn’t noticed. A small gremlin; a demonic imp, had slipped underneath his feet and gotten tangled between his legs. Giving Connor some small amount of grief when he propelled himself up the stairs, throwing a handful of coins backwards to interfere with the summoner’s murderous intent he proceeded to breathlessly chatter. Attempting to issue a response from Magnus; who may not have been entirely aware of the dire need Connor was experiencing, non-empathetically Connor directed his golem to strike the Summoner but it was molten bullion in a matter of seconds. Choking out a broken yell for assistance, Connor bellowed out in a broken string of syllables that bounced off the stairs. “MAGNUS!” The flames of the summoner’s spell were snaking towards a prone Connor, who having fallen up the stairs while directing his golem was trying to summon a vestige of survivability after having realised the imminent threat opposing his dwindling capabilities. If Connor had a trump card, it had been that he was never directly assaulted himself. But after his golem had been disregarded; so easily by this Summoner, Connor had some serious concerns and doubts about his abilities. The fire bit into Connor’s ankle yoking him in place, as the Summoner loomed over him with reckless abandonment of the world around the two of them. Connor’s eyed wildly searched the contents of the room for some form of recourse, but as hope seemed to dim Connor’s last thoughts were of how feebly he had proffered resistance. He flinched and threw his arms up to protect himself, the dagger glanced his forearm and a searing pain thrummed down his side as blood trickled to the floor. The graze had not directly been incredibly accurate, but Connor definitely felt as though a good portion of the Summoner’s force had squarely been behind the strike. Rarely, as an ordinary citizen, Connor sometimes occasioned harm. As his life was often filled with dangerous consequences, Connor had few choices but to be as subtle and unapparent as possible to achieve his goals. Never having considered the protective bulwark of a shield, or brandishing a sharp sword for protection, he found money solved his problems but this was not one of those times. The summoner’s ears were deaf to Connor’s reconciliations of wealth, the only thing that really gave him time for a considerable breath of fresh air was the haunting air by which Connor hurriedly chattered out, “I’m not alone, you’ll be sorry.”” He said this as he tried to scamper up the hard wooden steps, splinters of wood welling up a bloody rash on his palms. Connor’s mana skin was completely depleted as the Summoner glanced around. The summoner unintelligently halted his assault, considering Connor’s words as uneasily as a farmer who finds urgot on the rye when tending a field. Giving Connor time to think, giving Connor time to lie. ”There’s two of them… knights too.” The summoner who continued to pause for a considerable amount of time recoiled as he heard footsteps from upstairs, the information was more than plausible and he knew it.

As much of a drag as it was for the other two to head into the same building together as it really slowed down the rate at which they could disperse the portals and keep more imps from coming into this world, he imagined that the imps might be more threatening to the two of them. And since there was safety in numbers, it was likely not the worst thing in the world to have Griswold go through more of the work on his lonesome. While out in the street, he was not particularly looking for any people, mostly due to the fact that in a town like this, it was hard to distinguish who had good intentions and who did not. This was Aries Garse after all, not a town like Hage where most of the people were normal for the most part. So seeing as he did not see either of the two exiting the building yet, he just imagined they were still going at it.
Moving towards the third of the houses, which was coincidentally the largest out of the four that seemed to be housing portals, it was by far the cleanest he had been into. Without a doubt, someone was living here, keeping the place clean and containing the damage caused by the imps just by living somewhere. Wherever they had come from, they lacked human sophistication as they seemed to more or less do their business on rugs, behind curtains, in pots and pans, and the list went on. That, and the things they finished eating, they just discarded on the floor, which explained a lot of the bones that had been picked clean littering the floors of the other buildings. But in this current building, the clean floors alone and the fact that someone had recently been here proved that this was not just another one of the buildings where they just got to do their thing.
Believing this might very well be the place where the person responsible for bringing the portals into existence might be living out his everyday life, Griswold prepared for a potential altercation, being fully ready to throw down with whomever he encountered. Passing from the hallway into the living room, he saw a fireplace that was still lit, as well as a well decorated room with fancy curtains and floor rugs, showing that whoever lived here had a bit of money to spend. Taking another look around, he wandered through the living room and made his way into the next room, which was more or less what he had been looking for. With several portals in full swing, there were several imps in the room as well that were not as disturbed by his presence as those wandering the streets. Instead, they seemed so busy doing chores and keeping the place tidy that they did not even notice him.
That was at least, until one of them wearing a little suit came walking towards him, carrying a feather duster and likely being bothered by Griswold tracking mud from the streets into the building.
“You not should be here, master out. So you go out, out!”
Finding it quite odd that this one was capable of talking, he knew that he could not relent when it came to the portals and the need for them to be closed. So as he began talking to the imp, he wandered towards the two portals, overloading them with mana as they both shut down.
“I see. And if I may be so bold as to ask, where is your master right now? If you tell me, I’ll promise to leave the house.”
For a moment, the imp pondered the question, likely still struggling with the language as it did not seem like the one they were used to. But after taking it under consideration for a bit, it looked him straight in the eyes.
“Master outside, you go outside. Go!”
Clearly not being amused, the little imp scoffed at him as he hit his knees with the duster in an act of asserting its dominance. With the portals closed and no real need to be here anymore, he began venturing back outside, the door being slammed shut behind him as he found his way back onto the streets. But seeing as how neither of the two had seemingly done the job of finishing off the portals in their assigned house, and there still being another house in need of clearing, he wondered which one he should go for. Because at this point, he could round up the last house, or check up on the two to see if they were in any kind of trouble or not. Using his sensory ability, he’d do a quick read of the house to see what he’d be dealing with.

[attr="class","temppost"] Unbeknownst to Magnus, Connor had taken an interest in a hood figure, however, he simply attributed the young adult lessening in speed to him being tired. After all, Magnus had spent years training his body's fortification. Although he wasn't as strong or fast as the average person he made up for it in physical stamina. Surveying the house proved to be nothing but the occasional scattering imp as Magnus destroyed the portals within the rooms, he figured that each house probably housed the creatures and portals alike. He had to resist the small urge to smile as Connor suckled on the occasional mint to better defend again the heinous smells that bellowed forth from the building. Though Magnus as statuesque and dapper as he was was oddly familiar with the occasional grotesque stenches that plagued the world. After all, being homeless for nearly a decade had caused him to find all manner of places to rest his head and weary eyes, nearly the stench alone from his own body when traveling was worse than this at times. However, those thoughts, for now, were better left in the past, although throughout all his hardships he was grateful for the occasional fortitude and resistance it presented to him in situations such as this.
"I would be surprised if they didn't, although I'm sure my family could help with such creatures. After all, one of my family members is well adapted to the care of magical creatures and mana beasts, I'm sure he'd get a bit of amusement from herding such creatures around. Although I am curious as to just where exactly these imps are summoned from." Magnus was generally curious after all, and he figured that if they weren't able to send the creatures back from where they came one of the Aurelius family elders in his family would possibly be able to manage them, not to mention the brownie points it would get with the said elder who always seemed to have it out for him, ever since he was young, and was, in fact, one of the contributors to Magnus being kicked out of his family when younger.
When Connor mentioned a researcher is interested in anatomy Magnus couldn't help but chime in once more, "I'm sure they would, however, I would prefer it be done in a way that doesn't harm the imps." Magnus stated tone yet there was an air of seriousness laced within it. After all, Magnus held the same stance about these creatures as Griswold did, they were being used after all and quite frankly seemed to be harmless, they were being who had been ripped from their dwelling and clearly had been manipulated through no fault of their own for the whims of someone else's dastardly plans. Once again his mind flashed back to the Aurelius Elder, to his knowledge said Elder held a knack for sensory and healing magic that could be used to observe the imps autonomy better than most doctors could, and considering the elder was an accomplished vet he would be hard-pressed to think of anyone better.
"I'm going to check out some more of the rooms just to see if there are any more portals and to see if any more of the imps need to be cleared out. Although I'm sure most will just disperse into clouds of sulfur-like before. Do be careful, dear boy." Magnus stated with a smile before venturing deeper into the second floor of the house. The structure of the houses looked hastily built, and they had been painted over for what Magnus assumed to be only a couple of months, judging by the wooden floorboards of the house, they seemed to have been made anew rather than refurbished especially as the structure of the building seemed to be more modern compared to the previous house he had ventured in an seen. The craftsmanship wasn't the best but he felt it sufficient and with a sturdy foundation, he wondered just whom these houses would be sold to out here in the Forsaken region but considering the recent housing market had been littered with people trying to take advantage of those who had been displaced after incidents throughout the clover kingdom thanks to daemon debacles and the war years prior it wasn't unusual sight. However, the thought of someone with more wealth buying up so much land and most likely selling to for-profit to those much higher than what the construction cost and average housing rent cost were didn't sit quite right with Magnus. The heat from the portals, however, seemed to gnaw and pick at his skin, not enough to make him sweat, after all, Magnus was used to drastic temperatures and rather enjoyed them, like the morning bath he took; that was often scalding hot to most but relaxing to him.
As Magnus opened the doors and moved deeper within the houses something began to trickle down the back of his mind, although the imps seemed harmless thus far, Magnus didn't like leaving Connor alone for extended periods of time, after all, if the person summoning these imps could make them do their bidding couldn't they also control them enough to cause them to do harm? Magnus's internal question was soon answered as he opened one the door, only to find the imps turn, and with glowing green yes let loose a screech and mischievous grin, they pounced toward him with growls riddled with angst, and what seemed to be a guttural pain. Magnus quickly shut the door before the imps collided with him, and after a barrage of thumping of which sounded like them coming to a quick impact against the door, smoke would below out from beneath the bottom of the door. That's when he heard it, a scuffling of sorts coming from the bottom of the stairway. Magnus made haste, running toward the stairs as quickly as he could, however, the imps would soon appear in puffs of sulfur-riddled smoke.
Magnus brought in his arms and leaned forward, although he didn't want to hurt the creatures he wouldn't stand for them getting in his way of saving his companion. He dug his shoulders into most of the imps, pushing as hard as he could causing them, to release a squeal before they burst into smoke in an effort to escape once more. He waved the smoke from his eyes and held his breath until he was clear of it, storming downstairs at the shout of his name. His paintbrushes gripped within the spaces of his fingers, began to move with practiced grace, as he made it to the middle of the stairs he opted to jump down the rest of the way, his feet crunching into the wood beneath them as he came crashing down, in a crouched manner, hues of blue, silver and white took hold, as he whipped his hands a few more times creating a frosty blue rose in appearance that bloomed outward encasing both him and Connor alike. He'd yell out his spell name, not in just verbal warning, but also to issue a signal to Griswold "PAINT MAGIC: OATH OF RECOMPENSE!" However, his brushstrokes didn't stop there, with another flourish of his wands, he'd once again issue out another spell, yelled at the top of his lungs, before he gritted his teeth and scowled in anger, "PAINT MAGIC: FIELD OF WONDER!!!" Once again another blue rose would blossom outward, flying toward the summoner without hesitation. Magnus positioned himself within the front of Connor, his spells both taking hold in the shape of blue roses, he didn't know how badly Connor was injured, nor how strong the summoner was, but even if he had to resist with his own body, he wouldn't abandon where he stood at in fear of safety. Right now his mind was only focused on protecting Connor.

Summary: Magnus splits up from Connor to further check the rooms on the second floor, however, when Connor ends up meeting the Summoner, Magnus ends up getting held up by imps who are made to attack him, he defends himself while doing minimum harm to the imps themselves. Upon hearing his name yelled out, Magnus comes crashing down to the bottom of the stairs using a defensive Jr rank spell and placing himself in front of Connor, and the defense spell around them both as he launches an attack spell at the Summoner making sure to yell his spell names out at the top of his lungs in hope that Griswold can hear him.
Those with this skill can cause their defensive-based spells and abilities cleanse debuffs. This mechanic works in the same fashion as healing does when removing debuffs.
Description: Magnus begins to draw with his paintbrush flowing mana through the brush and paint as he does so, the paint takes the color of silver, white, and light greyish blue color, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give his drawing detail, Magnus creates a large glowing blue and silver rose that is 3 meters in size. Breathing life into it with his mana this rose can either be cast around him or on target(s) directly. The targets are often in the center of the rose itself, or they can be cast out in front of a target like a shield. These roses are made with paint pigments that emulate the look of the pure aura element. This spell is able to cleanse Junior rank debuffs. By focusing Magnus can make individual rose as big as 3 meters. Following the ammo rules, Magnus can create a number of additional roses based on his control stat to use on a target. This spell can protect against damage up to intermediate rank as per the clashing rules.
Players with this perk have the option to charge attack-based spells up for as long as they want to build up that spell's power. That particular spell will be treated as having an additional +5 in power per post that it is charged with a max charge of 3 posts. When charging a player will pay the sustain cost of that spell, on the post that they wish to execute the spell it will cost the spell's full price. Players can only charge up a single spell at a given time!
Description: Magnus begins to draw with his paintbrush flowing mana through the brush and paint as he does so, the paint takes the color of frost blue and a light grey color, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give his drawing detail, Magnus creates a field of light grey and frost blue roses. Breathing life into them with his mana these roses burst outward flowing toward the target in a arc, looking to overwhelm the target with them. These roses are made with paint pigments that emulate the look of the freeze element. The roses are 7inch bushels grouped together to equal to 3 meters in size but focusing can be made into one large mass of 10-meter rose bushels. Following the ammo rules, Magnus can create a number of additional roses based on his control stat to launch at a target. When Field of Wonder makes contact with a target, or simply reaches the end of its range, its behavior is determined by Magnus; it can either dissipate then and there, or it can explode into a flurry of sharp petals made from the roses that will cut targets within a 10-meter area. As per ammo rules, Magnus can fire off multiple Field of Wonders. However, if he chooses to make the roses detonate, the area of effect must be reduced proportionately; half as large (5 meters) for two roses, a third as large (3.3 meters) for three, etc. Attempting to cause Junior rank damage, minor cuts and bruises, and minor damage. The force of the bursting roses can knock back targets. Knock Back is calculated by 2m + 5 for every 10 power Magnus has.

Connor scrambled to his feet, the summoner temporarily dissuaded from further action as Magnus crashed into the scene. Thoroughly sweating and exhibiting symptoms of hysteria, Connor barrelled up the stairs as quickly as his feet could muster, attempting to flee the reach of the Summoners spells. Varying levels of success were met with attrition from both his physical abilities and the summoner’s pestilent imps. From experience, they had been rather meek and docile, but with the appearance of their master, they seemed to be aggressive and malefic. They cackled as they clawed at the running Connor, who was lacking the good conscious to string three words together as he hurtled over one of them, a half dozen more of them chased him. Relentless in their pursuit, Connor smashed his way through a door hoping to barricade himself within, only to realise it was no longer on its hinges from his violent entry. Panicking he started to backtrack only to find himself cornered by the brooding collective of sharp teethed creatures. His mana skin depleted, his nerves frayed; Connor did what best he thought he might do, as he weighed his options he grabbed the doorknob from the ground and launched it out a window. The sound of smashing glass would probably alert those on the streets, Connor’s only real means of signalling Griswold had he been within earshot was this reckless attempt. Feeling every bit the coward for leaving Magnus, he resolved to push his hands to his ears and rock back and forth before kicking his way out of the corner he had hidden in. The imps were surprised by their prey turning on them, disappearing from the doorway and room respectively as Connor flailed his limbs wildly. Connor half fell and half stumbled down the stairs again to see Magnus locked in consternation, both attacking the summoner and defending himself aptly. Leafing through his Grimoire Connor couldn’t help but look at the thin gash that was down his arm and apprehensively pondered the merits of buying a cheap set of armour.
The summoner was surprised by Magnus’s arrival, giving credence to Connor’s words of warning. He was frustrated by the emergence of another wrinkle in his seemingly perfect plan, wanting nothing more than to rob the kingdom of clover blind. Perturbed and upset he pressed on his attack upon Magnus, flames colliding with the defensive spell. To what end, Connor knew not as he started to regain his composure. Collectively once he had settled his heart and thoughts, he knew it was only a matter of time before Griswold showed up and took care of business. Not that Magnus wasn’t doing an amazing job, he was. It was just that Griswold was at a different level to the two of them, and this was something that Connor knew in the depths of his heart of hearts. Greed supersedes common integrity, and while he had learnt little of the nature of the otherworldly imps that plagued them, he had found that a few of them were still carrying small denominations of Yul around with them. It had been like taking lollies from children, they didn’t seem particularly attached to the currency and Connor require little dexterity to pickpocket it from them. Wearing rags as they were, Connor was piling together a modest sum of Yul on the sly, before he engaged with the summoner and the fight that ensued. Coins weren’t worth his life, but if he survived, they would make for at least a light lunch. It wasn’t stealing, it was more like reacquiring. Certainly easier than gambling.
Still bothered about how the house with the imps had provided him no insight whatsoever, he pondered on just clearing the last house by himself, which seemed like it’d be easy enough to do. After all, in the time it took the others, he had already taken care of two of the buildings, though them still not being done was odd. With his Ki and his senses working in unison to try and get a read on what might be going on from the outside, he suddenly felt a spike in mana, as well as a flash of light that was visible through the cracks in the boarded up windows, as well as the rotten planks making up the majority of the building. Sensing that mana was being thrown around, it meant that they had likely encountered some kind of hiccup, which from the feeling of it might very well be the “master” the imp had talked about.
While Magnus and Connor together should have been able to handle it, he could sense that the mana coming from this third party was greater than that of the two, making for a very real chance that he might get the upper hand and even kill them to keep his plans going. Whatever they were. And so, without wasting any time, he charged his own mana up to a level where his body began radiating with solar light, making use of two individual spells that worked great in unison. While one increased his physical speed by almost half as much and worked towards fixing most of the wounds he sustained, the other increased his physical strength and allowed him to quite literally punch even magic. So as he had readied himself, he moved at high speed, moving literally on thin air as he burst through the wall with a loud crash.
Believing he might not have had the time to go in through the front door and locate them that way, by going through most of the half rotten planks, it allowed him appear right where they were. So when he entered the room, he effectively flanked the man that was utilizing fire magic to attack the two other mages. Still utilizing a stream of fire, the guy barely had the time to respond as a fist connected with his lower jaw. Striking him so hard he got knocked through a wall and into the next room, Griswold remained in the room. Hovering above the floor as he still radiated with light, he released his spell as his boots connected with the floorboards. Dimming the light to the point where it just disappeared, he looked through the man-sized hole into the next room, finding that the assailant had been knocked unconscious.
“Are you guys okay?”
While it might have been a bit of a stupid question, the fact being that he could not tell how they were feeling just by looking at them in a dimly lit room made it slightly less so. Barely being anyone’s senior, the fact that he was the strongest mage here meant that he felt in some way responsible for them. And with the majority of the threat taken care of, all they really needed to get to was the last house and clear up those portals. Once that was out of the way, they could see about waking this man up and seeing whether he was indeed the master the other imps had been speaking of. Because if they did not have the master, it meant that more portals were likely going to end up being opened somewhere, and that would in turn bring even more imps into the world too. And seeing as how they still had no idea what to do about them once the main threat was averted, it was all they could do to finish up their main assignment.
“I didn’t know what was going on, so I assumed the best way to go about it would be to knock him the fuck out and ask questions later. Did you manage to close the portals here?”
Deciding that since someone had to stay with the supposed master in case he woke up from his slumber early, he would leave it up to the other two to figure out whether they would guard him or go about closing the last building’s portals.

Can heal Senior damage, regrow digits in two posts, and regrow limbs and minor/smaller non-vital organs in four posts. For every turn that it is active, it will also aim to remove any debuffs if present following the "cleaning" rules. During the day, the aura around the caster takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.
Name of Spell: Celestial Body: Globular Elemental Type: Solar Rank & Spell Type: Senior | Physical Reinforcement & Attack Creation Range & Speed: Self (contact) | 50 m/s Mana Cost: 30 mp | 15 mp sustain Stats Effected: Physical strength increase Applicable Perks: Overpowered, Battle Knight, Quick Shot Description: Flexing his muscles before making his body glow, thus announcing and visually showing a buildup of mana, solar flares will appear, covering his feet up to just below his knees and his arms from his elbows up to his hands in solar mana. Allowing Griswold to greatly increase his striking force with both hands and feet by a Senior amount, it allows his strikes to reverberate instantly when he hits a solid or magical surface. While doing nothing when hitting something solid, this allows Griswold to strike spells. If Celestial Body: Globular manages to beat the spell it strikes in a Power vs Power or Power vs Durability clash (depending on the main stat of the spell it clashes with), he can deal damage to it or even destroy it according to the clashing rules. During the day, the flames takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus's eye glanced to the left as he maintained his defense spell, Connor had made his exit up to the room above, though considering the attack the young lad had just been through Magnus was relieved. He cared not if this was a feat of cowardliness or self-preservation. No, as long as the young boy was safe that was all that mattered to Magnus at that moment. His paintbrush swirled within his hand, and his mana began to flow outward and down toward his paintbrush. His imposing figure was one-willed riddled with rage and aggression. "How brazen!" Magnus shouted at the summoner. Not only hoping that Griswold would pick up on his scream in an effort to notify him about the potential threat.
Magnus had no doubt in his mind that his spells could stand up to the summoners at least in terms of defense, it would come down simply to a matter of who could get the most damage in, in the shortest amount of time, and though the Summoner had the exit blocked off, Magnus had numbers on his side, if worst came to worst the most he figured he'd have to do is hold on till Connor got to safety fully. He was sure even if his body was charred and battered that Griswold would at least protect the young lad.
Magnus's finger twitched, he tightened his grip on the paintbrush in front of him, letting the blue rose shield he had erected in front of him stand its ground, his mana began to pool into a more condensed form at the tip of his paintbrush, it becoming a more viscous liquid. Shades of purple etched themselves at the tip of his brush, as anger filled him, he began to draw a dagger with quick and fluid motions of his free hand. He muttered the words "cruel-" though before he could finish the naming of his spell, the flame mage let loose another barrage of flames, and as Magnus could literally feel his paint burning away from the heat of the summoners fire.
Though just as his shield was about to burn away into nothing from the Summoner's stream of fire Griswold appeared striking the man in the jaw, sending him flying and into the next room. Magnus heard the sound of a sickening crack as he did so, and there was no doubt in his mind that the man's jaw was most likely broken. Magnus watched in awe as Griswold levitated off the ground only to land back on the ground as his body radiated light that soon dimmed out of existence.
Magnus steadied himself as Griswold spoke, responding with a simple, "Thank you," before taking a breather and wiping the few beads of sweat that adorned his brow. "We're fine, Connor's a little startled and has since made for safety and cover, and besides being a little winded I'm just fine," Magnus said his paintbrush still clutched within his hands, he was reluctant to let them go now just in case any other nasty surprises came their way.
"You will get no protest from me on that matter. I for one am grateful he's out of commission. As for the portals, yes we managed to close them." Magnus stated, before turning his head toward the stairs and stepping up a few before bellowing out the words "Connor the coast is clear!" He made his way over the living area where Griswold stood. "If you so desire, I'll go close the portals within the last building. After all, I think you're better equipped to handle the summoner should any other surprises arise." With that stated Magnus took off, he made his way down to the last house with a brisk jog letting the cool air wrap around his skin, cooling the heat that had taken root within his body. The summoner's fierce flame flashed within his mind. How many years had it been since he last had gotten into a battle against another mage? The thought danced around in his mind, though he felt he was out of practice, he was also happy that he was still spry enough to at least circumvent any more damage being done to Connor.
Magnus made his way into the last house, and like the last, he ran upstairs figuring the portal would be there, though this time instead of being in the same room it was in the one adjacent to it. Though as he opened a door he saw a group of imps mulling about. "Excuse me little ones, but I have to destroy that portal behind you, and I'd hate to hit any of you in the crossfire so if you'd be so kind to evacuate that'd be lovely." Magnus's paintbrush had already been moving swaying from one side to the other, making sharp lines of blue and silver, before he filled them in. He breathed life into his art through the use of his mana and with a flourish and swipe of his paintbrush wand a frosty steel blue stream of roses rushed forward toward the portal. Many of the imps, leaped out of the way, others turned into a poof of smoke and were gone before he even finished his spell.
The smoldering flame of the portal became enveloped by his wet paint and sizzled out leaving nothing but a broken ring on the ground. Magnus quickly close the door, exiting from whence he came, and made his way back down the stairs, though to his surprise none of the imps lunged for him, instead they eyed him inquisitively, and Magnus, in turn, began to think that maybe these creatures were under a deeper control of the Summoner than he initially thought.
Magnus made his way back toward the house he was previously in, stepping in cautiously even though he was sure Griswold had the situation under control one could never be too careful. Though once he arrived back in the presence of Griswold he'd simply state "the portals destroyed." He turned his head toward Griswold and looked for Connor curious if the boy was doing okay mentally after the fright he had been through.

Glad to know that both of the people he had been working with were more or less fine, he did not argue when Magnus said that he would go and deal with the last building. If all were to go as planned, with the summoner out of commission, the threat itself had been taken care of while the way into this world was closed for another year. While this still left the issue of where they had to take all of the imps, given the fact that they would need to actually round them up first, the chances of them being weaponized by some maniac were now at the very least off of the table. Walking over to the man while Magnus and Connor went to close the remaining portals, he felt his throat to see if his heart was still beating. Unfortunately for them, it was still very much active as his breathing seemed normal too.
Exhaling deeply, he turned around to grab the man by the heel and began dragging him across the place, down the stairs, out of the building and into the streets. Making for quite the bumpy ride as Griswold had no intention of carrying a potential murderer out like some damsel, the chances of the summoner exiting the building with a concussion had since been amplified. Dropping him where he stood, he looked around as he sensed the surrounding buildings, finding that the sensation he felt from where there had been portals before had disappeared. Meaning both he, Connor and Magnus had done their jobs when it came to sealing the place up properly, it would likely not take very long for the local law enforcement to get here and take the summoner into their custody.
And while some might have started cheering at this point, Griswold was not quite there yet. With his gaze locked on the supposed home of the summoner, he could see the beady little eyes looking bad at him from behind the curtains. Likely having no idea what kind of fate awaited them now that the person who had enslaved them had been taken out of the equation, it was up to the three mages to figure out what needed to be done about them. As long as they did not turn out to be hostile, which had not been something they had shown to be before, Griswold had no issues with leaving them alive. That said, they could not stay here, so he would wait for Magnus and Connor to get back so they could see to putting this whole ordeal to rest in a proper manner.
Connor had absconded into the evening, taking with him the Yul that had been stolen by the imps. Magnus and Griswold were more focused on ceasing the summoner’s ploy, Connor had lined his pockets sufficiently and pragmatically designed to part ways with the two of them. Fear, perhaps shock had gotten the better of him as he barrelled out an open window and into the night. The bitter cold of a season turning nipped at his heels, the wind gently caressed a new wound and it brought Connor back to lucidity. His pride and ego were bruised but he found it profitable. A pocket full of Yul and a new experience of the infernal creatures of Clover’s lands had whetted his appetite. Waltzing into the closest place he could find that offered respite Connor brandished his newly found wealth and tragically ordered what was left, telling who would listen about the hellish night he had had. Omitting a few details he endeavoured to be as contrite as possible, elaborating to his fellow citizens that the magic knights were waxing in strength. A few familiar faces here and there nodded before disappearing into the evening, the rogues were a succinct lot of people who have few biases. Freedom was becoming a hard-won and always sought after commodity, with the knights boasting such people in their ranks, life would get harder for ne’er do wells like himself. The richer parts of town were becoming harder to access for the more renowned rogues, people like the summoner only really succeeded because of their lack of infamy. Walking where one pleased was a luxury that fewer these days could afford. Demons, knights and other rogues haunted his steps. He felt as though his life was a construct of various devices that inhibited a greater sense of justice, but as of now, he felt as though it was the nightmare that he deserved. The next day he awakened to the smell of sulphur, copper and a smattering of iron. The coins he had pilfered were dwindling after a night of gambling, the wound he had suffered at the hands of the summoner was dry and sticking to the cheap linen of his bed, and the ever-present yellow staining his clothes made him feel uneasy. He was a mess, and after a bath, he wasn’t presenting as much better. The absurd amount of soap he had used was not overlooked, his pale complexion marred by ash and grime was a distant vision of his usual comeliness, and this perturbed him. The faint clicking of coins on a table alerted him to the business of the day, and how few things there were to occupy his time with. He travelled back to the boonies, the saints were preaching as per usual; the streets lined with salvation’s savour, succour was not found in his belly nor was it, particularly a sweet memory on his lips. The imp’s gnashing teeth still jarred his focus onto things that were best left unthought of. He had never seen a demon before, their pallid skin tone gave his stomach a turning feeling. His memories were not pleasant ones, and while the mischief he had managed to envelope himself in gave him a mediocre distraction during the day, it would be a long time before he would be able to stomach serious work again. Connor rifled through his book, a familiar glow being replaced with a silvery shimmer. A new spell was available to him, by the looks of it; a golem, he was not in any mood to delve into what it may mean but he felt the surge of mana leave him as he summoned it. It was a precursor for greater things he imagined, Connor being the optimist as he was, it hadn't been an entirely vagrant waste of his time. He named the golem Midas and proceeded to attempt contacting the Agents Of Avarice.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus took out his handkerchief once again swabbing it over his nose, never in his life did he imagine he would be constantly assaulted by the aroma of sulfur and its rotten egg smell, but here he was. Not only did he hate the smell but he hadn't a shadow of a doubt that the smell was both getting in his hair and clothing. The place was full of it, and as the portal he destroyed burst into nothingness, smoldering as it did, he realized the smell only intensified. He was sure it was either a byproduct of the portal being destroyed, no doubt the area where the imps were from was covered in the stuff, or perhaps the imps themselves were just scared and poofed away as they had done before. Which Magnus wouldn't put past them considering how they had been taken from their homes and now their only hope of getting back had been removed. This left Magnus with a sour taste in his mouth, or perhaps that was just the residual smoke in the air, nonetheless, Magnus made it his mission to find these poor creatures a new place of living and he had a perfect idea.
Magnus made his way out of the newly fixed houses, taking the time to admire the construction but also realizing the houses themselves had gone through a heap of cosmetic damage thanks to the investigation of the imps. Not only had they left suffering and soot everywhere, but the place reeked of it, and many of the floors and walls had scratches on them, not to mention the occasional bit of feces. These creatures were clearly intelligent but at the end of the day, they were just like wild animals. Magnus made his way out of the house and back toward Griswold, he peered upward to where Griswold was looking after having glanced down and seen the summoner laying knocked out cold. It would only be some time before Magic Knights or local authorities made their way to the area considering all the commotion not to mention the amount of mana that had been flaring up from the battles.
Magnus saw beady eyes staring back down at him and so he spoke up, "I'll send word to an Elder of my family, his name is Augustus, he's a Groom and is extremely talented at what he does, his taken care of everything from horses to mana beast since he was a young stable boy as a child, I'm sure he'll be able to take care of them until we can find them a more permanent area in the wild." Magnus then looked around noticing he couldn't find Connor or hadn't heard the boy's tiny footsteps not once since he had returned so he went into the house again. He searched it top to bottom only to find that both Connor and the funds were missing. Though Magnus had no idea what happened to the funds, he figured Connor was simply shaken up from his encounter with the summoner and had run away. As for the small inkling of an idea that he had about the funds, he figured the summon simply opened a portal or commanded an imp to run away with it.
Nonetheless, Magnus came back out and relayed the news to Griswold, then he waited till the authorities arrived, told his part of the story, filled out some documents, contacted Augustus, and made his way back to an inn for the night, hoping that this adventure had come to an end. Though something in the back of his mind told him, that this wasn't the end...
