Another day, another request from the Church. Much like many other a time, Thaddeus had currently found himself heading out towards another settlement so that he could accomplish another task that would ensure both the safety of the citizens of the Clover Kingdom and the prosperity of the name of the Church of Clover. Today however, his task had been a rather simple one. Apparently, within the town of Hage, a request had been sent out for anyone that is willing to assist in the recovery of their missing citizens. Once the church had caught wind of this, a message had been passed along to Prisha, the Spring Bishop. It was her job to send out the missions and requests for the members of the Hoard of Gnome. She herself would send out to word to several Deacons and Priests and yet only two had come to the call.
A dashing young Deacon that had gone by the name of Thaddeus Wilhelm and a beautiful elven Priestess that had gone by the name of Drusilia Ilphelkiir. Once these two had managed to catch wind of everything that was going on, they had eagerly agreed to take on the task of recovering the missing citizens and discovering the source of such misfortune! Or at least Thaddeus had decided to take on the task. Drusilia had simply wished to tag along with Thaddeus, as she always had, so that she could watch over his progress. Either way, the two had now been on their way to the town of Hage so that they could further investigate the events that were currently unfolding.
Once the pair of church members had found themselves within the confines of the town, they had to decide on what the appropriate steps to follow would be. "I understand that I am technically of a higher rank than you, Thaddeus, but I am having you take point on this one. It is better for me to stay back and watch how you fight than it is for me to get involved at the moment. I'm sure that you understand, right?" Admittedly this had absolutely nothing to do with her wanting to determine how Thaddeus had fought. If anything, she had been more aware of that than anyone else, aside from his cousins. No, she had simply wanted to watch Thaddeus for several other reasons. Reasons that her vows as a nun would prohibit her from acting on. Of course there wasn't really any way for Thaddeus to know this. And given how oblivious he had been to the whole thing? It would be no surprise if he were to never really catch on to that fact. In his mind, she was simply allowing him to take point on this investigation because she had trusted his judgement. "Right.. Of course, Drusilia. I appreciate your confidence in me. I shan't let you down."
Now that the two of them had been properly out and about within the town, Thaddeus would take the initiative to approach a few of the citizens that he could recall from his times here in the past. He would question them on anything and everything that they could tell him about the situation pertaining to the missing citizens and what they thought might have been involved. All in all, there was only a few bits of key information that he was able to gather. From what he could piece together, the unlucky individuals that had gone missing had continuously seemed to have gone missing when they had been making their way out into the woods. This was something that would initially lead Thaddeus to believe that bandits or rogues had been involved. If that had been the case though than where were the bodies?
The fact that these people had just gone missing and that there was really no trace left of them had concerned the Spring Deacon.. but that wasn't enough to discourage him. With all of the hard work that he had been putting in towards getting strong as of late, Thaddeus had full-heartedly intended on tracking down the source of these issues and putting an end to it. "So I take it that we are going to be heading out to the woods then?" Even with her having previously stated that she was going to be taking a backseat in this investigation, Drusilia had still chosen to speak whenever she could. "...yes, Drusilia. That is indeed my intention. I'm certain that we can track down the missing people if we throw ourselves into their shoes. I hope that that is okay with you." A curt nod would be offered in response to his inquiry before the woman would step forward and wrap her arms around her companion lovingly. "I have complete and utter faith in you, Thaddeus."

However, it can be decreased/removed by a hex debuff targeting the same stat (i.e. if you are blessed by a priest for +6 Power and a hex debuffs your power by -4, the buff will only count for +2 for the remainder of the thread; likewise, if you were to receive 2 debuffs focused on reducing Power by -4 each, then the buff is removed entirely).

Given that his companion had been onboard for the idea that he had had in mind, Thaddeus would simply nod to Drusilia. He had found it a bit strange that she had been embracing him in such a way but didn't really wish to push her away or anything like that. Instead he would simply focus on the task at hand. "In that case than I suppose that you don't quite mind my added protections." While Thaddeus had truly desired to call forth his carbon golems, he had been coming to understand as of late that such a thing might scare off whomever or whatever it was that he had been searching for. It is for that reason and that reason alone that he wouldn't call them out as of yet. Of course there were the matters of protection that were going to need to be addressed.
Rather than allow for either of them to get hurt, Thaddeus would throw together a rather simple plan for the time being. That being said, Thaddeus would lean forward and return the loving hug that had been given to him. Once Drusilia had finally managed to pull away from him, Thaddeus would throw his plans into effect. "P-protection..? I'm not sure that I understa-" Before she could even finish her sentence, Thaddeus would pat his chest with the side of his left hand while stating the both of their names aloud. "Rhydian and Drusilia." Upon taking this particular action, a slab of Carbon Matter would appear before Thaddeus and between the two of them. Said Carbon Matter would than attempt to shoot out towards it's intended targets. Once the slab has managed to reach the recipient of the spell, the respective slabs would wrap around the two of them and become suits of armor, thus outfitting holy pair in a matter of seconds. "A-ah.. I forget about this spell sometimes."
Not sure just what was going on with Drusilia, Thaddeus would decide to turn his full focus towards the task at hand. "That's alright. It's like that sometimes. Come now. Let us be off." With that, the pair of them would head off towards the woods, in which multiple people had purportedly been going missing. It wouldn't take all that long before the two of them had eventually reached the destination in which they had been hoping to find. They would spend the next fifteen to twenty minutes wandering about the wooded area so that they could try and track down something that could assist them here. "..honestly, it would really help if I had some golems that could quickly scan over the area for me. I'm going to have to look into that in the future, I swear." Shaking his head from side to side, the Spring Deacon would allow for a sigh to escape from his lips. For a place in which so many people had gone missing as of late, Thaddeus had been expecting something to have been discovered much sooner than this. Than again, if it were honestly that easy, the villagers wouldn't have needed to call for reinforcements in the matter.
Just as Thaddeus had been pondering over what their next steps were going to be, something strange would begin to take place. All of a sudden, for some reason or the other, Thaddeus' vision had begun to fade. An inky darkness had begun to overtake his vision and it was beginning to feel as though he was being swallowed up. All that could be heard at the moment was a loud ringing as his hearing would be cut off from the world. He wasn't sure what it was that was going on but it was decidedly not something that he was fond of. If anything, he was starting to freak out a bit. He couldn't allow for this to show though and could only trust that his defenses would hold out while Drusilia figured out what was going on with him. "Drusilia... I... I can't see." The same things that were beginning to overtake Thaddeus were honestly just about to overtake Drusilia but she had the capacity to overpower such things. Rather than allow for herself to fall for such tricks, Drusilia would exert pure aura from her body and allow for it to thrust the illusion away from her.
Taking a moment to look around and try to determine just what it was that had been going on, Drusilia would spot some kind of nymph-like creature off in the distance. It had a twisted smile on its face and was clearly behind what was going on with her beloved Thaddeus. This was something that she couldn't stand for. In a flurry of motion, Drusilia would rush past Thaddeus and remove the carbon spear that had been slung over Thaddeus' shoulder. She would than bolt off towards the creature and would shove the tip of the spear head directly through the creatures chest. With the source of the magic now gone, Thaddeus' senses would begin to return to him. He hadn't been quite sure what was going on but given that he had felt someone remove his carbon spear from his person, it had been clear to him that they were under attack.

Even with the added defenses that were coming from the Blessed Armaments Spell, Thaddeus had known that he was going to need to get more involved with this situation. Part of him had truly wished to just rush on in there and take care of whatever remaining enemies had been nearby, if there even were any, but that wasn't exactly possible at the moment with Drusilia having his spear. Not really faced with many options at the moment, Thaddeus had known that he was going to have to resort to using another spell at the moment. All that he could hope for was that whomever or whatever had been attacking them had been located nearby. Knowing what was going to need to come next, Thaddeus would allow for himself to smile before turning gaze around the area. If he could locate any of these damned creatures than things would be easier for him. Either way, it was finally time to call forth a few of his friends.
Without a moment of hesitation, Thaddeus would begin to raise his right hand in a rather dramatic fashion whilst shouting aloud a single word. "Oread!" Upon doing so, the carbon matter from just ahead of him would begin to shift and twist until it had ultimately shaped itself into an 8 meter tall carbon golem. Well... Not just one carbon golem but two! This was a first for Thaddeus, as he hadn't been capable of calling forth multiple golems at this magical rank as of yet, so the Spring Deacon couldn't help but find himself feeling a bit giddy in the moment. 'Take this time to track down any creatures that look like the deceased one by Drusilia and knock them out.' With this mental command having been sent out to the pair of carbon golems, the duo of them would begin to look around. Just as they had been investigating the area with their semi-sentient gaze, a pair of wind blades would be sent out towards each of the golems. Not having seen it coming, the golems couldn't exactly react to it. A third wind blade had come from behind Thaddeus and would assault the carbon armor that the Spring Deacon had made.
Although he would never admit it, it was thanks to the attacks of these wind blades that Thaddeus had been able to pinpoint a brief location in which their targets had been. While they hadn't been able to see the wind blades themselves, they could feel the direction in which the blades had come from. It was thanks to this knowledge that Thaddeus and his Carbon Golems had turned about and bull rushed off in three different directions. All that it would take from the carbon golems was a swift kick for the fight to be taken out of their Dryad adversaries. A pair of Dryads had been punted through the air and would fly off in separate directions, unconscious, due to the actions of the Carbon Golems. As for the third and remaining Dryad though? Well once Thaddeus had managed to close the distance a bit, he would begin to assault the Dryad with an onslaught of kicks and punches. Three punches and a swift kick is all that it would take to bring them down.
Honestly relatively unhappy with the way that things had just transpired, Thaddeus would begin to make his way back on over towards Drusilia. "I understand that I said that I was going to take a back seat here bu-" Yet again, Thaddeus would find himself cutting Drusilia off. A single hand had been raised to silence her before Thaddeus would begin to speak once more. "I'm sorry for letting you down." Hearing this was honestly completely out of place for the Spring Priestess. She hadn't been disappointed by Thaddeus' actions in the least. Each individual had their own ways of handling things in combat and unfortunately Thaddeus had been rather weak in this particular area. She had thought of it as a lesson for the future if nothing else. Rather than say all of this to him though, Drusilia would simply pull him into a hug and would hold him there for several minutes. Once the moment had passed, Thaddeus would order his carbon golems to gather the Dryads and to act as storage for all intensive purposes. Several hours would be spent wandering the woods before the ordained pair would come across the bodies of the missing people. Each of them deceased... It was truly a shame.
With the bodies having been found, Thaddeus would spend the next hour praying over each of the bodies that had been discovered. He wanted to send them to the afterlife with the respect that they had deserved. The Spring Deacon would than command his carbon golems to carry their bodies as well. Thaddeus and Drusilia would proceed to make their way back to the outskirts of Hage. Once there, Thaddeus would send Drusilia ahead to inform the Church of everything that had gone on. Once she had been done with this, they would spend the next several days having people identify the bodies of their loved ones and reclaiming the bodies for funerals. Each and every funeral that took place over the next tenday had been presided over by Thaddeus. He may not have been in charge of this particular church or town but he had been the one to recover the bodies. This was the least that he could do for them.
