Qiao sat on a fence not far from the farm. He was munching on a bag of seeds as he waited. Qiao was following a lead for his family that led him to Hage. While here he picked up a quest to cull some wolves for the local villagers. It was not a big deal for Qiao as he could fight simple animals in his sleep. He was waiting out of courtesy as the mission was already sent off and accepted. If Qiao stepped in and did the mission he could be reprimanded as an accepted mission was not really his job. [break][break] It was a blessing and a curse that Qiao was often really late or really early to things. This was one of the times when he was early even if it was not on purpose. So all he could do was wait. He was reading an obscure text on dragons, they were fascinating beasts that could only be thought of as legendary. Qiao was interested in them as the thought of owning a dragon would be very cool. While the world thought of them as legendary Qiao was more on the fence about it. His own family was the reason behind it. Qiao’s family had a branch of people known to turn into the beasts. So far none of the family members were as powerful as the dragons in legends but it could be a possibility. Just like Qiao mastering a rat form sometime in the future.

Kreig's first mission went about as good as one could get. He along with another Azure Deer had taken down an evil witch hat that cause all the chaos within the Eldritch home. Things were really coming along for him as for completing such a mission his names had started to generate a small buzz among the lower class magic knights of the Clover Kingdom. Today however their would be a new task at hand. A task so simple yet endangering and memorable to one's name. One was sure to have his name rise up within the noble ears and once there he could start on his personal goal to unify the kingdom as a whole and stop the prejudice toward the lower class. As basic as it may sound, this is how the day would go.
Kreig had awaken from his deep slumber within the trees of the common region. The travel wasn't too far from the mission he had completed the previous day. His intentions were to continue to take some higher profile missions for with them came more praise and a higher bounty. Both in which was needed to achieve his ultimate goal. He yawned while reaching his hands into sky causing his back to crackle and pop. Auuuhhh. Now, which way should I go from here? Kreig questioned himself as he took out a map to read. Looks like I'm only about two kilometres out from the next village. That was probably going to be the only good news of the day. He proceeds to close his book and gather his things to make way. Trinket check, armor check, grimoire check, and my good ole thunder blade check. Looks like I still have everything. Off on this journey I go.
About half way through his walk it was time for Kreig to take a break. Carrying around all of those weren't as easy as one would think it to be. He saw what seemed like a resting spot for fellow adventurers and magic knight such as himself. He decided to go inside just to give his feet a rest and possibly drink a few drinks. As he approached the counter he slammed his butt down in a seat nearly causing himself to tilt over. Drink five-thousand yul. Sleep ten-thousand Yul. The first words Kreig heard came from a bartender. Their was little to no hospitality at all. As he went to reach for his pockets he figured that he had very little so the response of of the typical. Yea, about that. I'm not going to be sleeping for a while it's just mid day. He then started to rub the back of his neck out of embarrassment. How about I just try out one of those house drinks you're talking about. He began to skim over his money knowing full well that he was low on funds. Alright then, here you go. The bartender slams the drink on the table. That'll be five-thousand yul. Now hurry up, drink it, and get out. Kreig then scraped through what looked as if it might be enough of his coin and payed the tender.
As he sat there and drank his beverage he couldn't help but notice how awful it was to his taste buds. They really make people pay five-thousand yul for this? He thought to himself. Slowly sipping trying not puke he would notice a small group of travelers come in from behind gossiping about their personal folklore. It was obvious the lot of them were a bunch of liars exaggerating their stories. They would soon talk about what they were planning on doing later that day. One of the told of a nearby village called Hage that was having issues with the influx of wolves and were in dire need for someone to come in a control the population. It was said they've tried over and over again yet continued to fail. The town was willing to hand over a valuable award in exchange of taking out the wolves for them. Then they went on to talk about what the reward could possibly be and it could change their lives for the better. This interaction caught the attention of Kreig the most as he was in need of the funds but he knew the possibility of failure would only set him back. He couldn't sit on it however, a decision had to be made. Hey!! Kreig yelled loud enough to quiet the group catching their attention. How much of that story is true? His first question was met with nothing but silence. Or should I even ask if the story is true at all? You know the one about the village of wolves that need to be removed. The men were all silenced, all but the one who decided to speak up. As far as I know yea it is. What are you planning to undercut me and go get it? If you are believe me, you are far to weak to achieve such a goal. An obvious intimidation tactic was being set in place. Fair warning, all who have tried has failed and failure for them meant death. No problem though you got it right. This was the man's attempt to mock Kreig and keep him away from the prize that he was trying to get. Ignoring that feeble attempt to stay away from Kreig left the rest-stop. He figured that he'll to put his life on the line if it meant the exchange of changing the kingdom for the better.
Making his way to the location of the lake many of thing would go through his mind. I really hope that this is true. It would be a shame if I venture out here and this turns out to be a lie. He begin to doubt the very outcome. It wasn't too long before he had reach the destination. It was a quaint little town on the edge of the Forsaken Region with a massive demon skull towering the village. It didn't look as bad as what the men were making it out to be. They mentioned that their would be many wolves yet Kreig didn't run it to any upon his travels. This didn't bother Kreig too much as he all he had to do was ask around and go looking for the beast. He then would scan the area in hopes of finding something or anyone that could provide further information on these animals that needed to be removed. As he scanned he noticed a young man in the not too far distance. Hey!! Hey!! You on the fence!!! He screamed in hopes to capture his attention.

Qiao was ignoring the guy who was speaking to him. He was trying to get his current mission he was on over with. He wanted to get back to his travels as soon as possible. Qiao washed the guy over with his sensory skills and the man did not seem weak. Well compared to him he felt really weak in the mana department. Just not overly weak when compared to the rest of the people inside Hage. Qiao thought he could have been the magic knight he was waiting for but decided against it when he did not see the mantle. [break][break] “Sorry, I am not trying to be rude. I was waiting for someone I could only assume is a no show. I have a mission to complete for the people here. You do not seem overly weak so you can feel free to tag along. I do not mind and maybe that guy from Azure Deer will show up.” Qiao was not trying to be rude or jump to conclusions on his own but time was of the essence. Waiting longer meant he had to stay in Hage the longer he stayed the higher the chances of his family or squad being in danger. This place had their own squad that was supposed to be keeping them safe. [break][break] Qiao walked towards the wolves that he could sense. As he got closer he felt twelve different mana signatures. A pack of twelve was twice as big as a standard wolf pack. If Qiao felt that their mana signatures felt abnormal he would have even been nervous. At this point it was Quantity over Quality and Qiao did not feel threatened. As he got closer the pack split up and started forming a circle. It was clear they sensed danger and was making an encirclement to wipe out the threat. [break][break] “Pretty smart beasts.” [break][break] Qiao did not move but allowed them to approach. He loaded up an arrow and quickly started to shoot. Three popped out of the bush in front of him as if to claw his throat out. They were the first to die as an arrow lodged itself in their necks. The remaining three in front would receive a farewell arrow parting gift to their bodies. It was at the point that the ones behind would choose to attack. [break][break] “You think the remainder of you that made it out alive would choose to flee. I mean it would have been a decent moment to do it as your comrades are already dead. If you leave you could have even chosen to fight another day.” [break][break] The wolves' quick speed would have been a problem for a normal knight. In fact he could have killed all of them with relative ease before they even attempted to attack. As far as he was concerned the entire pack was moving in slow motion. The longer the fight went on the faster Qiao knew he would become. His battle style he termed ‘heavily go’ allowed him to adjust in battle against enemies. So while he was not actually moving faster it would just look like it because of how he was fighting. [break][break] “Rat bites to escape the net of entrapment” [break][break] Qiao channeled the necessary mana as he cast the spell. Five pink floating rat heads made of wind appeared around Qiao as if to guard him. A wolf lept to tear off his arm, Qiao used his circle foot movement to turn and kick, roundhousing it in the snout. Before giving it another kick to seal the fate of the poor creature. If he wanted he could have just stood and fought all day against them. It was no sweat off his back to do it. Qiao was simply taking his time since it was not really his job to subjugate them.

Kreig had notice a young male figure sitting on a fence in the not too far distance. Hey!! Hey!! You on the fence!!! His attempt to gain the guys attention only to be ignored. The man looked of someone with quite the experience in the arts of wizardry. His posture alone boasted confidence unlike any others he had ever seen before. Sorry, I am not trying to be rude. I was waiting for someone I could only assume is a no show. I have a mission to complete for the people here. You do not seem overly weak so you can feel free to tag along. I do not mind and maybe that guy from Azure Deer will show up. They guy replied when he eventually gave attention to Kreig. The nerve of that guy. I wouldn't exactly call it striking a nerve but Kreig definitely felt some type of what about the mans arrogance. This was no reason however to misplace his own words to the fellow but a little attitude could be sprinkled within.
Well, for someone who says that they are not trying to be rude, you sure have an odd way of going about it. You don't have to be so standoffish you know. In-fact I am a mage from the Azure Deer. This was Kreig's in response to the rude nature of the boy. Though I'm one-hundred percent sure I'm not the guy that suppose to be meeting you here. This didn't matter much as Kreig sought this mission to be more personal to himself than a favor for the village. He honestly just wanted to be noticed, and what better way than starting your buzz in a smaller town and becoming their hero. Kreig then goes to rub the back of his back and tries to ask a question the issues within the village. So, how bad exactly is th... Cutting Kreig off the boy got up and walked away as if the words he was saying were meaningless.
Still not upset Kreig took the liberty to follow closely behind him. It wasn't long before a pack of wolves, twelves to be exact would appear before the two. It would seems as if they felt intimidated by the two knights. One could tell by the positioning of the wolves and the circle they made around the two. Pretty smart beast. Kreig just nodded. That was his was of agreeing with the young mans thesis. It was then a small portion of the guys power was put on display. It would seem like the bow and arrow was his weapon of choice. With it he quickly dispatched six of the wolves instantly with two shots. You think the remainder of you that made it out alive would choose to flee. I mean it would have been a decent moment to do it as your comrades are already dead. If you leave you could have even chosen to fight another day. It didn't seem like he was talking to Kreig at this time. Talking to the wolves??? This guy is off his rockers. Something didn't quite sit right anymore for Kreig. It's possibly that fighting was just something the guy enjoyed.
During the time of the slaughter Kreig himself took part in action. Half of the pack was behind the two so it was only natural that Kreig would cover the rear. Six of the carnivore creature lined up with their teeth exposed looking to intimidate the young knight. This mattered not because he knew that since he was stuck in this situation that he had to somehow pull his weight. Unlike the other mage who used a bow and arrow Kreig opted for his trusted blade. With it in hand he aimed the tilt of it to the ground and closed his eyes. In this position he would say a little prayer for the actions that he was about to commit were frowned upon by his savior. Soul of Christ, sanctify me; Body of Christ, save me; Within your wounds hide me; Separated from you, let me never be; From the evil one protect me; At the hour of my death, call me; and close to you bid me; That with your saints, I may be praising you forever and ever. When done sparks of electricity grew brightly in his eyes giving them a full shade of white. He then lifted his sword, let out a deep gasp, and proceed to charge in on his assault.
Dashing forward could be considered a reckless move for the normal individual. Kreig on the other hand thrived in scenarios of such. As he charged forward two of the wolves charged back at him, one just before the other. The first one attempt of attack was to jump and take a bite at the throat of the lightning mage. The move proved to be futile as Kreig simply ducked below while simultaneously forcing his sword in the belly of the beast. Due to the force of motion this caused Kreig's body to spin slightly. With no time to waster he removed his right hand from the handle and used the moving force to help snatch the blade from the wolves stomach with his left hand. Pulling down and continuing to spin his body into a full circle the blade left an after image of a crescent moon. It just so happen that the second wolf would came running in head first, causing his face to be split in half by the swinging blade, killing it instantly.
Standing in an ever so graceful pose with the blood and guts shed from the wolves bodies, Kreig dared the others to follow suit. Come on!! I dare you. Bring it!! It would seem that what he had done was not enough as the last of the four all charged in together. Kreig was a bit faster than the animals so his hopes were that he could out maneuver and dispatch them all. This however was an extremely slim chance of this strategy actually working out for the better. His little prayer before hand must have reach the god's because a miracle happened. As the four wolves charged him; it just so happen that two of the beast found it better to run past him and take their chances with the mages accomplice. Kreig stood strong and held out on what he could to save the other mage. At the time he could only give warning of what's soon to happen. Quick!!! You have two headed your way!!! With that he went on and cut down the two that stood before him.

“No problem.” Qiao never bothered to stop channeling the spell. His opinion on the wolves dropped drastically after this last suicide rush. Qiao waved his hand in a motion as if to backhand the two wolves. The floating rat heads followed his gesture and bit the heads off the wolves. It was a pretty bad sight to see but at least the death was painless.
“Alright we just have to let the village know to freshen up the area a bit, to avoid more predators from being drawn to the village thanks to the scent of all the blood.” Qiao was not being squeamish; he just honestly did not feel like cleaning up the blood from the last two. Even if it was his fault that the wolves were missing heads. At least the wolves he pierced with the arrows did not look too bad. “Afterwards I will see you later. Feel free to keep in touch.”
Qiao would finish up his mission and prepare to head out.
