One of the more rich residents of Raque has recently had his house assaulted by mud balls, eggs, and random food condiments. The skinny, weasel-like old man wishes for his windows to be cleared, as well as the outer walls of his house to be cleaned, and he wants it done fast, and with good quality. For that, he has hired a few people in an attempt to clean his house before his neighbors wake up to see it. You have one hour. Go.

It was mid day and Kreig the day before previously accepted a task of cleaning winding of an elder man in the town of Raque. Standing before the build Kreig immediately realized that he may have bitten of a bit more than he could chew. Not very enthusiastic, Kreig scanned the building a second time reaching the same conclusion as he did after his initial inspection. It was a big job, too big to be fair for the amount the yul the job was offering. The money on offer would barely cover the cleaning supplies left alone an hour’s hard labor. Still it was said there were lessons to be learned in all walks of life. Admittedly he yet to conclude what merit, if any, was to be garnered from cleaning this mess up. Someone had to do the job so why not himself.

Taking a moment to think on how best to tackle situation with the minimal effort possible and in the shortest amount of time possible quickly deduced that the mud, splats of a raw dripping egg and sledges of almost rancid tomato would not in fact take much skill to clean so much as time. It occurred to him that many hands make light work which is all the better when the hands in question were not your own.

Kreig quickly set about work eager to see the task completed. However to the watching old man’s surprise he steered clear of the waiting buckets and miscellaneous sponges, turned around and walked away. The increasingly agitated elder was all the more surprised when Kreig trooped back some 10 minutes later followed by a swarm of eager to please comrades.

One of the first groups in the kingdom Kreig had sought to win to the ever growing faction of allies and associates were the kingdom’s attention seeking young mages. Surprisingly well-connected, frequently bored and eager for the attention it had not taken Kreig long by way of a series of carefully planned encounters to awe the kingdom’s impressionable youth. A helpful demeanor, a willingness to listen and the occasional purchase of ice cream had ensured he was not only kept up to date with the goings of the kingdom’s many famous families but that he had a veritable army of willing helpers on hand should the need arise.

On returning to the rambling estate during already convinced his young associates that task before them was an important mission of crucial success. According to him somewhere on this building foreign agents had left a secret message unfortunately this has been covered by various mud and detritus. It was imperative for kingdom security that they work as fast as possible to uncover the hidden text. With time against it was not possible for him to do this alone and so it turned to the people who he could most depend upon. By the time it sworn the dozen or so helpers to secrecy he had them eating out of the palm of his hand.

Kreig let out a relaxed sigh some 15 minutes later as he languished against the side of the nearby accommodating tree and read his latest paper only stopping every few minutes to smile and encourage the furiously busy employees working feverishly to clean the property in search of the secret words. It was some 10 minutes later, the job almost complete when he heard the excited shriek of a young girl who presently ran around the corner of the property yelling and excitement. Kreig was quick to quiet the girl reminding her of the secrecy and importance of their mission before leading the gathering crowd of students, eager to learn what had been uncovered, in the direction of the discovery.

It has been an educated guess on his part to assume that in addition to all the mud, egg stains and other marks that some where among these impressions would be some less than flattering graffiti. He almost lost his composure as an eight-year-old want to be mage asked what the term drunken git meant. Years of perfecting his ability to lie to others automatically came into play as he made a great show of careful interest, breaking out his notepad to jot down the words before suggesting to the awe mob of students around him that he believed to be one part of a phrase encrypted so as not to reveal its true meaning if any one part were found. He urged them to look for more before stating should the remove the text less those who wrote it discover they had been undone.

It was almost comical to see the enthusiasm with which they found more graffiti, standing proud as he would praise them and carefully write it down before instructing that the words should be removed. Four lewd comments later and the house was spotless. Kreig apologized saying that so important was the information that he could not turn the meaning of the phrase lest he endangered them, on the other hand, as a reward for their services to the kingdom he agreed by each and every one of them ice cream.

The best but of course was getting old man to sign a mission completion form confirming its completion. He could still remember that curious look of disbelief marking his features that he tried to work out how Kreig had completed such an obnoxiously task without lifting a finger. First of all I would like to say thank you sir for the offer but I'll have to objectively decline the chance at eating ice cream. You need not to worry about how the job was completed but more so that what you need done is now finished. This was Kreig's attempt to ease the old man and sway his mind. Just make sure that you put in a good word for both me and the Azure Deer. I'd love come come back and word for you as anytime as you please. Kreig would then start to make his way back to the Azure Deer based to check and see if the squad had posted any new mission.

Mission failed.

As a Magic Knight, you bear the burden of your Mantle. This means that no matter the mission, you must complete it with integrity befitting the organization. Your failure, specifically due to not doing the job yourself, is not because of the lack of ingenuity, but because of your character's lack of integrity befitting the Magic Knights Squad you represent. I would have awarded the Yul to the young mages that did the job themselves.
