There was a part of Verena that didn't want to be here. It was crawling with nobles and magic knights. That was to be expected, of course, but it never settled well with her. She might not have had any reason to be weary in the present, but any time she even so much as stepped foot in the Noble Region, the discomfort she felt was something she couldn't even hide. Unfortunately for her, however, this was unavoidable.
Verena had gotten word of several new books supposedly coming from far off lands that would be sold exclusively here. She had reason to believe several books on golemancy would be in the area. To that end, she'd saved up quite a bit of coin before coming here, in preparation. She had a good feeling she knew where the books were going to end up, which was what brought her to the royal capital to begin with. She was quite eager to see these books, and even more eager to sink her teeth into studying. For now, it was just a matter of waiting on the book store to open, and so she remained outside nearby, resting comfortably against the wall of a rather renowned book shop in the capital.Notes: Sorry for the incredibly short post. If you need me to, I can edit it when I return later Saturday to edit it to make up for it. Either way, I'll try to compensate for you when I'm here..

Ah, the royal capital, a place of people with the circumstances and means to make anything happen. Whether it be by insane magical power compared to the common folk of the nation, or the vast wealth that could buy them next to anything. Cecile found herself among people she would once consider marks. From a history of being a thief, one she did not even wish to be, she still harbored the desire to pilfer the purses of folks. But, her desire was no longer with anyone normal, anyone innocent. She only desired to procure the riches and trophies of the master thieves of the world, to be the number one!
So what was a former thief, with angelic magic, and a Spade Kingdom citizen at that, doing here in the royal capital of CLover?
She was seeking some sort base, a place of operations to set herself up in and get things going to make a front against the people that hunted her, her former employers. With numbers in the thousands, she needed a safe house, and she needed to understand her new home better. The Royal Capital held within its borders great libraries and people of great strength, but, were they to learn of her past, she could be cast out.
Why risk it then?
She wanted to learn about the land, to use it to her advantage, and to learn to be a better Clover Citizen rather than some foreigner who stood out!
Cecile found herself nearing the book store, the very same bookstore that Serena stood outside of.
Cloaked in white garbs, black under layer clothing. Her red hair framing her face, covering one of her amber eyes. She walked up toward the store and saw the closed sign. SIghing to herself, she placed a hand against the wall, before going into one of her forlorn soliloquies, "Ousted from home and excluded from entry to the most basic of buildings based upon chrons ticking away. The great wheel turns as I lag behind, a faulty cog within the machine." Her gaze was cast down at the ground, overshadowed by her apparent issue of sadness.

There weren't too many people waiting outside a book shop, which meant that the Clover Kingdom "refugee" stood out all the more when added with her seemingly out of place monologuing. Verena often talked to herself, but she did so usually in private, and it was more of a conscious decision on her part. The brunette thought it a tad... strange, but she did manage to figure out what she was saying.
The girl was depressed about something. She felt stuck, was it? ...That was a feeling Verena knew all too well. She didn't seem that much younger than the former noble, but she was on the smaller side of things. Dwarven, maybe? She hadn't met a dwarf. ...No, she might have been a hybrid. She was still too tall for a dwarf. Verena let out a small sigh. No, that couldn't be right. Hybrids weren't a common thing for a reason. Chances were she was just small. It wasn't like there was a huge difference in the height of the two, anyway.
Either way, Verena couldn't simply just stand around. She understood full well what it was like to feel like life was passing you by. Even still, she still did her best to move forward. And so, the brunette moved over to Cecile.
"Uhm..." Verena began to say, freezing up.
Ah, she was so bad at this. Approaching others was so difficult, especially if it was about something she wasn't even sure if it was a conscious decision to do. She wanted to help her, but she wasn't sure if she was overstepping her boundaries. What if she was just being rude? What if she offended her? She didn't mean to eavesdrop....
"A-Are you okay?" she managed to nervously spit out. Argh, this was so hard. She fidgeted around, trying to relax/.
Clipped to a belt-like apparel was a bag that was visible as the sun was bright, matching with Verena's large white coat. As she approached, some clinks could be heard. Her expression matched her timid nature, but there was still intent to at least try to do something nice.

"Mayhap I shall find myself spilling the coffers of accumulated hoardings elsewhere. Alas, I shall depart lest I find cloaked warriors that police the cobbled walkways. Away I mus-SWEET LORD!" SHe jumped a good foot in the air, flailing her arms and legs until she was caught. A dull grey light flying out of her grimoire as a vague hand shape caught her, with two distinct rings revolving around it. "Th-thank you Stalviel..." She sighed as she was set down and whatever that thing retreated back into her book.
She took a moment to breathe in carefully, turning her attention to the newcomer, "Sweet lord above, you gave me a good scare there mate! Can't believe I let my guard down, I, the great herald of the heavens? Nay, shant happen again, seeing to that right now, I make a mental note to properly maintain utter constant vigilance!" She did a complete one-eighty in her personality it seemed. A hand was cast over her visage, the other arm stretched out, fingers splayed in all directions.
"Lo and behold, for you have chanced upon she, she who will be the greatest among the pantheon of the seedy underbelly of the globe. Tartarus, thy name is mine to lay claim to. For I shall surmount the greatest there are in the world and make right that which hath been pilfered!" She was spouting on nonsense now it seemed.
"Sorry, I...get a little theatrical, my name's Cecile, Cecile Iris du Ange, nice to meet you. I...am trying my hardest to not get that melodramatic, normally it only comes when I use my magic? I..apologize. I'm looking to get a book on etiquette and Clover Customs here. How about you?"
Little did the either of them know, there was a set of eyes watching them from afar, using communication magic to relay a message about having spotted the target, someone that they needed to take care of soon.
Verena placed her right hand delicately across her cheek as if the gesture would help her understand what on earth this person was trying to say. Everything about them was ... eccentric, she supposed. That was a fair word. Her crimson eyes stared into the amber eyes of this strange young girl. There was no hostility; guilt mixed with confusion. At the very least, Verena knew that she had startled the young woman.[break][break]
"W-Well, I uhm... I didn't mean to startle you. Are you okay?" she asked, adjusting the glasses upon her face before lowering her hand to the other one to clasp her hands at her waist.[break][break]
Her hands were level with her dress, pitch black in color with red seaming, giving it a homemade type of look. Only at the bottom of the dress did the vibrant red color reveal itself, almost a fiery color--in stark contrast to how Verena herself was. Beneath her dress was a skin tight full body suit, dark blue and striped. She wore boots, also black like her dress. Despite her dark colors, she exuded a sort of warmth as well as uncertainty in equal measure.[break][break]
Verena didn't seem comfortable with some of the stairs she was getting; because she wasn't. It was a little too hot to wear her coat, which she had stored in a bag strapped around her back that she made sure was large enough to cover any assets from behind that might draw even more unwanted stares. This outfit was comfortable, and she happened to like the dress, too. She hated being stared at.[break][break]
Verena offered a smile to the girl when she introduced herself. "It's okay," she said in return. "If that's just apart of who you are, then there's no need to apologize. I'm Verena."[break][break]
She disliked introducing herself by full name, even if it seemed this person was a foreigner. Foreigners weren't all that common sights. Many of the people in Clover were born and raised here, with few exceptions. "A book on etiquette and customs..." she mused. "Mm... I haven't looked for a book like that before, but there'd be no better place to check than the Royal Capital. I have an idea of where they might be though."[break][break]
Verena glanced at the library, then back to Cecile. It still hadn't quite opened up yet. She felt a little bad for effectively dismissing the entire theatrical entrance Cecile had offered to her, but she simply had no idea how to process it. It was easier to just communicate with her when she was being... well, normal, even if she'd just said moments ago that it was okay. Well, as long as she got a translation after the fact, maybe she could bear with it.[break][break]
"While we wait on it to open up, do you mind if I ask where you're from? If not, on the topic of magic, what kind do you use?" Verena could tell this young lady was a little out of her element, and wasn't quite sure how to really approach things yet. There was no way she had been in Clover for long. A witch, maybe? In any case, she was having to break her normal timid nature as best as she could to try to be welcoming to this new friend to the kingdom.

When she was introduced to this girl in such a startling manner, Cecile was less inclined to show her true colors, though, after a brief little discussion with the other mage, Cecile started to calm herself down, admittedly in her own dorky manner of trying to break character and speak to Verena in a normal tone.
"Where I'm from? Uh, well, I am, from...not around here?" She tried to crane her neck and make a motion with her head to indicate where she was from, the general direction of the witch's forest, or Spade, or Diamond? It could have been any of the three, but it was clear she wasn't from around here.
Why didn't she say it aloud? Well shouting about how you are a foreigner from a country that used to and still is at odds with your country could cause quite the ruckus and stir up a commotion unlike any other. There was no shortage of refugees from other lands or visitors, but the Clover Kingdom was host to a cavalcade of chaos from a number of characters!
"Well, first, I am Cecile Iris du Ange, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm used to being hassled by folks for my magic quite often." She took out her grimoire. Its covers were gold-trimmed, embossed with the texture and one cover was white, the other was black. Inside the pages were bordered with gilding. The same motif followed as with the covers, pages of white and black, with golden text.
"I am a herald from on high, someone who wields the power of the heavens themselves to provide the most potent of healing methods. I am oft aided by emissaries under the guise of golems!" She seemed rather proud of herself and her magic, all things considered.
While they spoke, the store owner would be coming along, "Hello girls, sorry for the wait, I was distracted at brunch with my handsome fellow!" The kindly woman said, turning the key in the door and opening-up shop. The people that were stalking Cecile were waiting to make their move, it was going to be a terrible day to be robbed.

Verena didn't quite have a handle on Cécile's character. From her opening theatrics to this sudden awkwardly answered question. It wasn't a bad thing though. From Verena's perspective, it just meant she was trying to situate herself. She was definitely a foreigner. She craned her neck as if trying to specify she was to the northwest.[break][break]
Verena suddenly brought her left hand level with her chest as she smacked it with her right fist, as if understanding. "Aha! So you're from the Witch's Forest. That makes sense," she said, though not loud enough to draw any real attention to the two. She was happy she was right, and that was enough for the brunette.[break][break]
Her new acquaintance introduced herself as Cecile Iris du Ange. Verena, however, would not say all of that, as that was too long to remember. And too hard. Not that her full name was any easier. Verena Nicole Ruhm Reinsberg.[break][break]
"Do you mind if I just refer to you as Cecile?" Verena politely asked, before inspecting the girl's grimoire and nearly stumbled back as a result.[break][break]
"Or... perhaps not from there exactly...," she murmured quietly, before glancing up to Cecile. Thoughtlessly, she placed a hand over her own grimoire.[break][break]
The Spade Kingdom. Naturally, Verena had heard quite a bit about them. It admittedly made her a little weary, but there was nothing she could really do about that now, unfortunately. Instead, she just offered the girl an awkward smile. The brunette understood why she wasn't so eager to say out loud where she was from.[break][break]
Still, eventually that uneasy smile of the Clover born transitioned into that of a genuine smile.[break][break]
Most importantly, she noticed the four points on the other grimoire, jetting out. Was that something similar to Clover's own? It was rather impossible to know for sure. Much of the Diamond Kingdom's customs she didn't know; what little she did know was just a product of her own upbringing and tutelage of the world at large. To say nothing of rumors that she would occasionally hear as she traveled.[break][break]
As she explained her own magic, Verena took this time to speak. "It's a beautiful grimoire. I think you'll like it here quite a bit comparatively. Or at least, I'd hope so. You use healing and golem magic? I use golems as well. I'm hoping to become an expert in golemancy and their uses out of combat."[break][break]
Verena took this moment to remove her own grimoire, showing it to the other. Ordinarily, she wouldn't have done this. In fact, she was still hesitant, and it showed. But it was her own way of apologizing for her fearful and unease that wasn't well hidden before. It was a deep red in color, only lightening up as it drew closer to the center. It lacked any trim, however. The cover also seemed to be in reverse. While it did have four leafs, it was as if they had been plucked, positioned beside symbols resembling fire, wind, earth, and water. A truly bizarre grimoire.[break][break]
"...My magic allows me to make golems from a variety of elements. Currently, I can make earth and wood golems, and I'm still working on a cotton golem."[break][break]
After Cecile was able to get a good look at the grimoire, she moved it back into her holster. As this happened, the store owner opened up.[break][break]
"Ah, Abigail..." Verena said, a little surprised by the sudden entrance. It seemed she recognized the shopkeep. She was a little flirtatious when it came to men, but she also knew that Abigal and her husband had split up some time ago. It was only natural she'd seek companionship by this point. "It's no worry at all. Thank you very much."[break][break]
Verena moved to go into the bookshop, presumably alongside Cecile. All the while, the crimson eyed woman was oblivious to the purse snatchers just waiting to make a move, her bag with her money dangling from beside her.

Just Cecile was fine, they could easily speak to each other on a given name basis! While she was originally from the Spade Kingdom, Cecile was a natural-born witch, that quirky nature and her odd magic were a perfect indicator of such. Verena was thankfully understanding if a bit jittery from the jolt backwards of noticing her grimoire.
"Oh much better already. I must say, it's wonderful to not have to bundle up to push through dust and snow storms! It's a wonderful sight to have people being open. yes, there is an abundance of towns and good people in spade, but it's a vast kingdom. Bandits are common there between the towns and the class system is abused to oppressive levels there. Here in Clover I have met some nobles who act more like commoners than the commoners themselves... It's quite the stark difference from what I am used to. People being taken for their mana to give their all to a noble as a servant or battery." She shuddered at the recollection of memories.
"Between my golems and healing, my healing is a cut above the rest. I've found I can deny death, heal greater wounds, I can heal crowds...It was used a lot back where I'm from." Her dapper and chipper attitude slowly shifted away, turning around. She was pulled out of her slump just as quickly as she was going down by Verena mentioning harnessing the power of golems from different elements. She just quirked an eyebrow to that.
"Huh? You mean, you have one of those weird powers where you can do a lot of different things? I never knew anyone to be able to control more than two elements if that! I uh, I hope you get somewhere with the golem stuff!"
When the store owner came to let them in, they were sitting ducks on the inside of the shop, those bandits looking to strike when the door shut and storm in there to try and hunt Cecile down!

Come to think of it, she didn't know too much about the Spade Kingdom. She never really read a lot of books on their society, nor did she ever find it interesting enough. She knew that the kingdom at large was known for its cruelty towards it's people, and that was the reason at large for the Reinsberg to not yearn to learn more about the kingdom; it was likely too macabre for her interests.[break][break]
So it was when the woman started speaking about the Kingdom that Verena took an interest especially. It wasn't that she wasn't attentive before, there were just some subjects she was more interested in. To confirm what she had heard, as well as to get the knowledge that she wouldn't have normally dabbled in. It never hurt to be more informed about the state of foreign powers, after all.[break][break]
So the northern Kingdom's climate was a frigid one, huh? Well, that wasn't surprising. The Forsaken Region got colder than other areas, so it only made sense that even the Diamond Kingdom would be even colder. The class system was even worse there than it was here as well, as well as an increased bandit problem. The most repulsive thing, however, was the mention of just how opressive the kingdom was to its people. Verena felt a chill up her spine as she heard that.[break][break]
Thankfully, the other girl seemed to realize that the topic was straying into a far too uncomfortable territory, and shifted it back to her magic. She was an extraordinary healer, apparently? She didn't seem that much more capable than the Reinsberg at a glance. And Verena knew that mages at the highest level could pull off feats of resurrection as well. Honestly, if not for her own strange case of being able to use a variety of elements, she doubted she'd be able to really believe her right now.[break][break]
Verena nodded her head. The foreigner wasn't completely wrong, though her choice of words clearly indicated a lack of extensive vocabulary, true to her desire to learn the language. Now inside the book store, Verena proposed, "Why don't we start with dictionaries?" she asked. "Your grasp on the language is fine to be able to communicate, but it never hurts to have a vocabulary that matches your age, I feel."

It was a bad day to be Cecile, and a worse day to have any associations with her. It was a bad day to shop in an enclosed space. What was even worse of a day, though? Being surrounded by books! Why was that, though? The three ladies in the bookstore were about to discover.
"Well, I cannot assume that my jargon or vernacular is that starkly different from the common folk of the country!" She commented while folding her arms, fuming steam from her nostrils. Not really, but the animated effect of her actions just seemed to be visible.
"Oh dear, she means nothing of it like that," the store owner said while moving around to sort through the books, a feather duster floating by her arm. "She means you talk like someone out of a fantasy novel. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you fell right out of one of those grand epics!"
"Wh-what?! I see... I must apologize. My inadequacy to grasp my short-comings have discovered once again, and I was blind to them myself." Her demeanor changed on the flip of a dime again. Her face was overcast with a shadow's aura, blocking out her eyes from being viewed as she turned her gaze to the floor in regret for her actions.
"N-No! Not like that! I just mean that...Verena dear, can you explain to your friend here?"
The doors flew open with a powerful gust of wind after that sentence, and in with the wind bellowed in a large gout of flame.
Cecile reacted in a moment's notice, grasping her grimoire as she uttered a simple name, "Stahlviel." POinted her grimoire and finger at the door, out came a large gray body that blocked the flame. Around this weird three-legged body was a singular golden halo and three strange white eyes along its singular flat face. It forced its way outside with the flames, disappearing from sight as it prevented the flames from consuming the store.
"Can I not have one day where you idiots stop trying to kill me?! I said I was done with that life!" Dropping her little chuunibyou act, she let the sardonic and snarky persona out. Turning toward the door, she looked out to see three men in cloaks, hoods pulled up to cover their faces.
"Even if Margaux or Bijou aren't here, I'm gonna make you feel like one of your legs got lopped off like the last group! You do not try an arson attack on a bookstore! I'm gonna beat the ever loving snot out of you!" She shouted as she rushed outside to get ready for a fight!

Verena was quite grateful that Abigail knew what she was trying to say. Cecile seemed to be a little frustrated in the beginning as she defended herself. If not for the bookstore owner's presence to explain, it might have been a little awkward, and Verena would have felt bad. She meant no harm with her words, after all...[break][break]
However, it seemed that Cecile was taking this the wrong way, too. "W-Wait, that's not what she meant..." Verena began to say at Abigail's behest before the doors flew open as the brunette's eyes opened wide.[break][break]
Fire.[break][break]
Like an epidemic, it wasted no time in quickly spreading within the bookstore. Crackling sparks of red and yellow as Verena looked around in confusion. She had magic. She was in possession of a four-leaf grimoire as well. But she had never once been in a fight in her life, and it sounded like that's exactly where this was going to lead up.[break][break]
The woman was fearful, frozen in place as Cecile immediately took a stance to get ready for a fight. A strange creature was summoned at her side as a halo appeared over its head. It ... that was a golem, wasn't it? Verena was positive about that. But it was like no creature she had ever seen. Her golems took the form of inspiration in some form--this was .... bizarre, to say the least.[break][break]
Verena watched as Cecile fled towards the outside. She, however, was frozen in place. This library was... being attacked. There was no question. She looked to see countless pieces of literature at risk. Her eyes darted back to the entryway as Cecile went on the offensive. This wasn't right. This was wrong. All of it was wrong.[break][break]
"....Summoning Creation Magic. Gaia's Blessing," Verena declared from her grimoire as she summoned three large bipedal creatures made from stone.[break][break]
"Please get everyone else out of here!" she cried out to one. "And you two, protect as many books as you can please! I'm begging you![break][break]
Verena had no desire to fight and she was scared out of her mind. But... she couldn't just harm befall this library any further.[break][break]
Her one golem was evacuating people while the other two golems were shielding books with their bodies from the flames. But it wasn't enough...[break][break]
She needed more golems. She used this same spell twice more, enabling her to bring out a total of nine golems. Three golems were helping with evacuations, while six were shielding books.[break][break]
She wanted no part of this fight... fighting was wrong, and she didn't want anyone to get hurt...

Cecile was fighting without her golems or her grimoire. She was using her golems to shield the front of the shop. For the redhead, there was something different about her at the moment.
All that time she spent running, trying to avoid being caught, she had toned her body up. All the hours she spent trying to keep her magic down to avoid being traced and hunted, she had become something of a savant when it came to hand to hand brawling.
Three men stood before her, three former comrades in arms, three people who had just made a grand mistake of their lives.
Cecile took a deep breath before rolling her shoulders back, casting off her jacket to the side. The slight toned presence of her body's muscles responding to her.
"U-uh, what the hell?! What's up with her Georg?!" "How in the hell should I know? She's supposed to not know how to fight!" "She can't use any attack magic! The hell do you think that meant?!" "Whatever! We still have her outnumbered and she can't use any magic! Just get ready to start casting with me!"
Weapons of wind and fire started to manifest in the air, only to be fired like missiles for Cecile.
She just started walking toward them, stepping lazily to the side as a spear of fire whizzed by her.
"I know I have a few problems."
Another weapon whizzed by, and her speed started to pick up as she dove to the side to avoid being struck.
"I know I have a reputation!"
More weapons came flying her way, and she seemed to respond to each of them, avoiding a majority of them! That was, until a halberd of fire came soaring at her. Behind it was a wave of compound wind magic.
She stopped in her tracks and put her hands out to catch the halberd by the pole. Her hands burned from the heat and her mana skin crackled from grasping the spell of someone else. Using its force to spin around, she swung the halberd upward and cleaved straight through the compound spell, wincing in pain the whole time.
"But I know one other big thing!" the girl's angelic aura had beneath it the eyes of a demon, "I know you're lowlifes who don't hold a candle to me any more!"
She was upon them, jumping up higher than average, her feet coming to kick one of the men directly, square in the chest.
She refused to let them get a chance to form back up though. Cecile sprawled out across the ground and grabbed a handful of dirt to throw into the face of one of the two, her other hand grabbing the shirt of the other man.
Yanking him forward, she got to her feet and brought her knee square into his gut, knocking the wind out of his system so she could elbow blow the back of his neck.
The third man, who was getting up off of the ground, found one of his comrades on top of him now, the one with dirt in his eyes getting thrown over the angelic healer's shoulder and onto the pile.
To add insult to injury, Cecile put her hands to the side of her mouth and shouted for the public to hear, [color=teal"Help! These three tried to force themselves on me and tried to burn a book store!"[/color] Well, she never claimed to be an honorable fighter.

While Cecile was fighting her past, Verena was far more troubled by the present. She was only capable of so much, and while this fire was ongoing, the brunette needed to figure out how she could save the books and the people. Admittedly, she was more concerned about the books if for no other reason than there were very few people inside. Excluding the owner, Cecile, and herself, there were only two others who had gone in at this time.[break][break]
Verena's golems found those two and safely brought them outside while Cecile was fighting the group of thugs on her own. Of course, the brunette had no idea what was going on and was instead trying to get her golems to remove as many books as possible and securely bring them out of the store so they wouldn't get damaged. It was a race:[break][break]
could she save all the books before she suffocated?[break][break]
...the answer was no. She could not. And she knew that. Realizing that she was well in over her head, she only managed to safely procure two shelves worth of books before she realized this was a losing battle. With no choice, she had her golems escort her out.[break][break]
She was about to cast another golem to aid Cecile, but by the time she had stepped out of the shop, it seemed as though the amber-eyed woman had managed to deal with the three. Verena was impressed... or she would have been if she wasn't coughing from all the smoke she had inhaled. It wasn't too long, but unfortunately for her, due to her constitution and the result of that man...[break][break]
Her golem kept suspended her, keeping her from touching the ground. Gaia was the only reliable friend she had managed to make, and he would always keep her safe... but he could do nothing about this. She only hoped she hadn't inhaled a life-threatening amount. At least her coat hadn't been burned off. That would have just been as bad as suffocating in her eyes at this moment.

COMBAT SUMMARY

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena is spooked. uses golems to evacuate and to protect the books. she's still in the store, however, as she's seeing to everyone elses safety before her own. cuz she's dumb lmfaooo [break][break]

Once the men were pointed out the public, and people were coming to the aide to make a citizen's arrest while waiting for some knights to arrive, the redhead just took a moment to sit back and cough a few times herself. A bit of smoke bellowed out from her little sputter, that quickly subsided. Her golem was gone, and the fire was dealt with just as quickly as it started. A majority of the books were saved, that was good at least.
Cecile flopped onto her back, looking up at the clouds with a heavy sigh, "I hate those guys." She mumbled aloud, loud enough for Verena to hear. Rolling over to her side, then to her stomach, Cecile put her hands to the cobblestone, and kipped up to her feet, approaching the woman.
"I'm, uh, I'm sorry about all that. Normally they attack me when it's dark, or I'm on my own. Seems the knaves are getting more brazen." She offered a hand to Verena, which, if taken, she would pull the girl in to a brief hug. One hand on that waist, the other pulling the summoner by the hand, embracing the girl for but a fleeting moment.
"Sorrowful though I may be, I regret more the travesty of not appreciating a lily among the field, a sweet flower with a pure nature." Was she flirting with Verena?!
Cecile broke from the hug and took one deep gentlemanly bow, the redheaded girl looking back up with a wry smile, "I shall make it up to you my lady, one day, when you least expect it. When chance favors me and the fates deign it necessary, I will give you the best of experiences! Name it and I shall seek to make it reality! The perfect seven course gourmet meal fit for royalty? I will prepare it myself. Treasure beyond the scope of mortals? I will drag down the heavens to borrow from their coffers! basically, I'm saying you're cute and wanna see you again for whatever reason."
She gave a little two finger salute, flicking her wrist from tapping the side of her brow, one eye winking while sticking her tongue out in a coy manner.

Verena needed a moment to compose herself. She still didn't really have much of a chance to really process the fact that the book store had been under an arson attack. She only hoped that she had been able to preserve as much as she could. Magic Knights seemed to be approaching the scene as well now. That was good... yet Verena didn't feel any more at ease than when they were here. She moved away from the Magic Knights, not wishing to be so near them.[break][break]
Cecile fell down. She must have been tired. Verena didn't see anything, but she had taken on those guys by herself. She must have worked really hard trying to fight them off. The brunette was glad that things had ended so peacefully, but there was still a large issue at play here. Why had she been attacked? Verena wanted to first calm down, then she could work on figuring that out, but--[break][break]
Without warning, the redhead offered her hand to Verena. ...A choice in the matter.[break][break]
Verena offered the woman a sweet smile, but that was all she was physically capable of offering Cecile in exchange. "I apologize... I dislike being touched..." she explained.[break][break]
...The last time anyone had laid their hands on her, they shaved off decades off her life span. Though the context was different, physical contact of any kind terrified her. It caused her to relive the memories of that time five years ago. And frankly, if it could be avoided being thought about in any capacity, Verena would happily take that offer. Pushing that trauma to the furthest recesses of her mind, never looking back... at least that would make these next five years much easier... it wasn't as if anyone could do anything about it.[break][break]
"Ah... uhm... I appreciate the compliment..." Verena began to say.[break][break]
It was a lie. She was not a pure woman. She was no maiden. She was pitiful at best. If she was a lily of any kind, she would be a spider lily. Or perhaps a poppy.[break][break]
"B-But you don't need to worry about repaying me, really. It wasn't your fault that you were attacked, right? You haven't done bad things to get people after you, right?"[break][break]
Verena was still plenty naive. Even though she had seen much of Clover at this point in her life, she hid from it. She hid from its truths. "Good" and "bad" were just subjective terms that a person assigned to values that went against their own. Survival could not be classified by good and bad, as it was simply the subconscious desire of a species. "I'm not against doing something in the future, but uhm... it would likely need to be by chance. I don't really sit in one place... I just wander in the forests, especially near and in Aristaeus' Basin. But we won't get attacked next time, right...?"[break][break]
As if Cecile had any real control over whether or not that happened.
