These are the most basic and common rules of the site. Unless you’re doing a casual thread that doesn’t have any repercussions, you must follow these rules. If you chose to break any of these rules in a plot or event base thread with NPCS or players that can maim or kill, you are subjecting yourself to have one of these occur.
[break][break]
No God-modding/Meta-gaming: This one should be pretty simple here, and applies to all rp. No doing anything beyond your character's capabilities, or assuming you know knowledge that you should not. Simple as that.
[break][break]
Players can only die in death enabled threads/areas.
[break][break]
Stick to the max item limit and your casting limit. Going over this may result in staff having to deny your thread or mission.
[break][break]
All spells and items used in combat must be approved before the thread begins.
[break][break]

Perhaps the most common is the player versus environment combat. This combat is typically very hands off when it comes to a staff's duties. This is your everyday typical role play, often times in missions or other situations. While these are still subject to high scrutiny from the staff to ensure you've handled the situation appropriately, consequences like maiming or death are typically off the table in forms of punishment in these situations.
[break][break]
Killing of NPC's is allowed, BUT if your character is a knight and kills an innocent bystander, then there can be repercussions for them IC. (Refer to the Criminal System)
[break][break]
Follow the guidelines for the NPC, if applicable. You cannot defeat an NPC if you do not deal the proper amount of damage, and if you do not RP them to the proper stats, then your mission may be subject to failing. It is important to always follow the guidelines set for the NPC's, including any personality traits or combat tendencies listed. It just isn't generally realistic for an intermediate knight to one shot a giant creature of Senior level.
[break][break]
If it is a staff controlled NPC, no manipulating the NPC's actions. The staff member RPing them will be in charge of that.
[break][break]

When it comes to events or key plot areas, players will often find themselves in a player versus player combat In this situations if the staff has not given set rules and guidelines for said thread, players should refer to the general rules and these as well. In player versus player threads, players can run the risk of being maimed or killed so they should be wary.
[break][break]
Stats: Post your stats at the start of the fight, that way your opponent and yourself can keep track of the proper stats you should have. As we know, they tend to fluctuate as we RP, so this keeps it easy for everyone. Be sure to follow the stat comparison rules HERE.
[break][break]
Vague/Timeline manipulation is allowed to some extent, but if the staff sees that you are constantly quoting and tearing apart someone's post instead of trying to enjoy the thread, then there may be possible punishments.
[break][break]
Action Guideline/Tips: This is not a rule, but a guideline for PvP. Most PvP'ers follow this rule. First, you post your reaction to what they did, then you post your own action, then you may post an action left up to the other person's next post to decide whether or not it goes through. You must follow the casting limit, but be fair and realistic, IE DON'T toss up 12 spells just because you can. Most combat action posts occur within a matter of a few seconds IC, so it's just not realistic.
[break][break]
Be realistic: Don't jump to heights or throw things that your character could not possibly do. If your character is not fast enough to dodge, or strong enough to block, then you will have to take the hit. If you believe that the person you are fighting is being unfair and/or unrealistic, then you reserve the right to call in a staff member to take a look at the thread and make a decision. This can include the staff member forcing someone to rewrite their post, take a hit, or even rewind the fight any number of posts to restart.
