As per usual, Eve snatched the improvised weapon out of the air by the handle and took a moment to look along the length, thinking about practical application, how to make it last the longest amount of time, depth, and center of gravity. It would, ultimately, be a disposable weapon, but for the time being, would be a welcome addition to her lethality. With this, she would be able to reach vital spots easier, and as long as she didn’t work it at the wrong angle, it should hold up against most things.
“I keep working like this, I’ll be able to purchase something decent soon I’m sure. I prefer something a little different though… a worry for another time.” She already had a weapon in mind, something her mother showed her that she had used once upon a time, but now wasn’t the time or place to worry about such things. For now, she just had to focus on the next task in front of her, which was the next floor which opened up and gave her some pleasant warmth but she didn’t worry about that much; she was already in the room, getting behind some cover and using her hearing to identify where the enemies were.
A pack of wolves? Unfortunately for them, as fast as she was moving now, they might as well have been standing stills. In the foliage, Satori would hear throats being slashed, tendons eviscerated, and necks snapping as she dashed through the leaves like Death itself, and when she emerged before Satori, she was stained with blood just about everywhere but her face and hair, and she had a smile on her face that was one of accomplishment, not shying away from being dirty in any way, not even worried about it and flicking the blood from her improvised weapon. “Maybe I should wear red…” she chuckled, twirling the odd knife in her hand once and cocking a hip, waiting for Satori to show her what was going to be next.
She took a moment while she waited to pull a canteen from her hip and move directly beside Satori; it was a moment when she was going to be vulnerable, and she figured he would detect anything coming and she would have enough time to prepare and toss him the canteen if that happened. But it seemed fortune was on her side, and she finished off her portion and handed the open canteen to him for him to take a draw; she had enough for them both for an entire day without issue, but at the rate they were powering through, it wasn’t really a problem.

Bengal grunted as he watched her work. The flickering movements of the young woman through the darkness made his Ki track her carefully, she was still in the realms for him to properly sense her. But if she built up her base, or found a way to create a transport system for her body... well, he'd actually have to use his own enhancements to detect her. That'd be interesting as well. Releasing a grunt his mana pulsed along his hands.
The offered canteen caused a soft chuckle in response. His mana skin was thick so the heat wasn't affecting him in the slightest. But he accepted it anyway, taking a few swigs before handing it back to her.
"This place is good for endurance training as well. Reminds me of a weaker variation of the Lava Palace," as he mused this he glanced around them. She was waiting for information though so he continued on quickly enough.
"Once your mana skin gets thicker you'll be able to make sure the blood doesn't stick to you," he grinned, before shifting his gaze across the steaming lake. Nodding in that direction as the area shook once more, another thunderous sound ringing out around them.
"There's a river that breaks off from the lake by the looks of it. It travels down that direction. There's a strong life force in it, probably a water-based creature by the looks of the enviorment. We can walk along its shore, or go for a swim. Either way's fine, though fighting it in the hot water when that's its natural habitat may be a bigger challenge." His gaze shifted down toward her.
"After that is some space. No signatures. But at the end there are two large ki battling. At a guess they're the boss's of the Dungeon. Be careful from here. I'll let you try on your own as much as you want, but I'll intervene if things get dicey. The difference in power between single monsters and swarms in a dungeon can be pretty intense normally." With this advice he'd begin walking toward the edge of the lake, circling around it toward the river.
Hearing the chirps of the remaining monsters he grunted, glancing toward her for her to finish them off before they entered the next section. He'd let her decide. Avoid the creature in the water, fight it from the shore, or dive in and tangle with it in the water.

Eve took in the information and processed it, thinking as she took back the canteen, capping it off and tucking it away for now. After a few moments of consideration, running a few different scenarios in her mind, she looked in the direction of the river, and nodded once. “I’d rather take the thing out now than need to retreat in that direction later and get a nasty surprise. Got an idea to get it to come to me too… Don’t step in unless I’m about to be seriously maimed or something, please. Gotta get tougher somehow.” Thus far, everything had been easy as hell; her superior speed made it impossible for them to do any real damage or even put up much of a fight.
This next one wouldn’t be so easy, but that was good. Too easy and she wouldn’t grow. She needed to be pushed, hit her limits, and work until those were just memories.
Turning and working her way through the trees, she came out to the lake portion and tilted her head, considering for a moment at what she was looking at. Her hand clenched on her weapon, she moved to the edge and slipped into the water for a moment, crouching and taking her free hand and dousing herself with a couple of splashes of water. Her hope was that the blood coming free from her clothing and getting into the water would work in two ways; firstly, it would draw the beast to her, and would also do the trick of likely making the beast think that she was easy prey, wounded or the like because of the blood. Quickly retreating, she lowered into a stance and prepared for the creature to come at her, watching the water carefully as she did and preparing her trap.
The beast emerged from the water in a massive splash of water, snapping at her as it emerged and causing her to backpedal a bit with a small jump, not wanting to go too far, but to draw it up on land further. It gave chase, thinking it could catch up, but once completely on land, she quickly changed tactics. It’s upper body looked like some kind of crocodile while the back was snake-like, only a few viable targets for damaging the thing as she moved like a bolt of lightning to the side to avoid another snap of its jaws. She changed direction in an instant, dragging her improvised blade across the part of the scales that were a mixture of the hardened ones on the top and the softer ones on its belly, unable to get to the vulnerable bits easily without leaving herself exposed for a moment to a counterattack. After her attack left a decent but somewhat shallow cut along a couple of feet of it’s ‘tail’, she dashed backward, keeping it snapping towards her and getting farther from the land.
Eve was using the pain to hopefully anger the creature into disregarding the advantage it had in the water to try to get at her.

Bengal grunted as she decided to battle the creature, clearly pleased with this decision as his gaze slid to the side. Examining the large river briefly as his own mana pulsed out, though it was beyond Eve's senses as they flooded along the ground. The remaining raptors that she hadn't dealt with falling with dull thumps to the ground, roasted by the electrical currents. Tucking his hands and crossing his arms over his chest he watched her half-bathe to attract the creature's attention.
A hum filling his chest as he simply waited for her to engage. The beast bursting from the water was something to be expected. Mana beasts were more intelligent in some cases than normal animals, but even then they were still just beasts. Only some high-end creatures had the proper intelligence to not fall for such ploys. As she engaged, slashing into the beast he smiled briefly. Her movement speed continued to increase as she fought, a familiar thing.
As his own body loosened up it was in a similar state. He steadily got stronger and faster. It was a useful trait to have, a body naturally built for combat.
He said nothing. It was up to her on this, but thus far she was doing well. Goading it was dangerous however. Creatures could become much more deadly when their bloodlust rose, and Mana Beasts could often instinctually utilize mana to enhance themselves or cast spells. Whatever happened next, he'd watch over her to be sure she wouldn't die at least.

She was able to do damage, her blade capable of piecing its flesh. That was the information she was trying to gather with the first blow to make sure that she knew what she was doing in order to win the fight. She had a solid plan now and moved to make it happen, not considering the fact that the beast was stronger than it looked when it came to mobility on land. The beast saw her coming in and performed a small hop, spinning and swinging its tail unexpectedly as she charged, causing her to raise up to block, not having seen it in time to dodge it properly. The weight of the tail sent her flying backwards, impacting the wall with a hefty thud, and she could feel her body bruising on both her back and forearms as she landed back on the ground, and that was when the change in her demeanor happened.
All smiles were gone. Her eyes no longer warm, they grew cold as steel, predatory, but not in the feral way that some adorned, but more of something darker. Awakened within her was the heart of a cold killer, looking at the enemy before her as it began to open its maw to try to snatch up its prey as nothing more than a target, full of weaknesses and vulnerabilities that she would exploit. She charged directly at the beast’s mouth in a blur, making it lurch forward in a straight line, it’s long neck stretching to try to meet her halfway and swallow her in a single bite. At the last moment, she spun to the right side, her improvised blade flashing and with a powerful movement, connecting at the part of its jaw where the hinge lay, pressing forward and using the beasts own momentum and mass against it, carving a massive slit along half of its neck, connecting all the way to its throat which began to rapidly fill with blood.
She had severed a major artery, but it would take a few seconds for the beast to die and would have substantial death throes, so she immediately leapt clear, standing on a nearby boulder as it thrashed about, only hastening its demise. Her eyes were still cold as she slowly rolled her shoulders, feeling the pain from her injuries, but otherwise not seeming affected by them. As the beast finally lay still, she took a moment to breath, the warmth returning to her as she looked towards Satori and approached him. “Bastard was quicker than I thought it would be…” she commented idly, waiting for the next set of instructions.

She took the hit--and it wasn't a light one. Thankfully, the bruising was minor and her mana skin hadn't been shattered just yet. Grunting once he lifted a hand up and rubbed the back of his neck. She'd let her guard down, but that was to be expected. It was within the margin for error at least. The spells he had released on her greatly augmented her speed and regeneration anyway, allowing the damage to steadily begin fading from her body as his gaze slid toward the beast as it continued to thrash about.
She had killed it, but Bengal was one that didn't believe in slow deaths if he could do otherwise. As she began to approach him while the beast snarled and continued to gush blood, Bengal lifted a hand up. A single finger aimed at the creature that focused with pulsing bright silver light... that then shot past her faster than her own movements. A single smoking hole forming in the creature's skull as it stilled. The final cry petering off as the body fell over with a dull thud.
Lowering his hand slowly he shifted his gaze toward her instead. The slight twitching of the body was ignored and he stepped forward, moving toward the next section where the river began to slowly thin to a creek. The jungle growing, large brambles starting to cover the area as he answered her words with a slight nod.
"The next monster will be even stronger and faster. Don't let your guard down, even with the spells I've placed on you healing you, if you take too many hits you can die in here." As he explained this his mana began to pulse along his fingers, before slamming his hands together and electrical energy suddenly burst along his fingers in crackling energy. The explosion of electrical currents swarming forward, scorching the path before them and instantly shredding, burning and cursing the grounds.
Whisps of smoke left along with unnatural black sand where the lightning had struck while he continued to walk through the now clear space. The barbs would have been nasty, but it wasn't worth fighting through them when he could just destroy them all.
"The two beasts are ahead--" The rooms shook with another explosion of force, and now as they pushed through the room, the view was clear. A massive winged beast swooped through the air, a barbed tail lashing through the air aimed at the massive lizard beneath it. The titanic beast was plated in thick fur and hide, with a jaw of cuspid teeth that glinted with razorlike sharpness. The mana that exploded from each beast several times more than Eve's own. Bengal slowly tilted his head to the side.
"If you take a direct hit from those jaws, or that tail, you'll probably be near death. If not dead, Eve." He warned idly while he watched the two titans struggle in their evenly matched battle. "Which one do you want to try and fight? I'll immobilize the other one. You can consider the bet won." His gaze slid to the side, she was far faster than either of them. But the raw mana and power both of the creatures had meant it would be... difficult, for her to beat even one. Let alone both. That was near impossible and a bit much for a rookie warrior.
Even if that cold personality of hers could help push her to the new level as a killer, in the end, she was still more of a thief than an assassin for now. No reason to take too many risks when he could intervene and still give her a decent challenge.

Eve turned as the bolt shot past her with amazing speed, watching as the hole appeared in the beasts skull and causing it to roar a final time and then lay still. She was thankful for that; she didn’t want to make the thing be in pain when its end was inevitably going to perish, but she didn’t have the means to do what he did safely. As it finally still, the last of it’s breath leaving the body, she gave the beast a nod of respect. “I wish we could take the meat. That thing would feed a city for a month.” It wasn’t a comment made to be recognized by Satori, although he likely could have heard it.
She rolled her shoulders again, feeling the pain receding as the spell he used on her continued its effect, healing her quickly and effectively. She really had to hand it to him, that was a fantastic spell to use on someone who was training like she was. She followed him as he moved through the area towards the sounds of two mountains fighting one another, curious about what they were going to stumble upon. Hearing his warning, she nodded, but didn’t seem afraid; she had learned her lesson with the previous beast.
The area before them melted before his power, creating a path for them to travel unhindered, making light work of what would have otherwise been a painful and annoying trek through the bramble and underbrush. She waved her hand in front of her face to clear it of the smoke, but found that she enjoyed the scent of instantly vaporized plantlife and charred sand. Walking alongside him, she emerged to watch the two titans doing battle, smashing against one another and looking at each of them carefully. Her eyes tracked their movements and she considered her options more than once as Satori once again began to speak.
She nodded again at the warnings, and thought about his offer. “Oh no you don’t, you have already interfered enough. First the little ones that I didn’t get to finish, next finishing off the weird fish dinosaur… this one is on me. Just give me a moment to figure it out.” Her sass and feigned hurt at his ‘intrusion’ was all obvious, but she quickly got back to work watching the creatures duke it out. He was absolutely right; they were extremely powerful… but they were slow. If she played her cards right, she would be able to handle it without an issue. After a few more moments observing, she leaned towards Satori, not taking her eyes off the battle, which thankfully they were more content fighting one another rather than the onlookers.
“OK, so here’s the plan. I can’t be the main threat until I got one of them down for the count… so I take out that one’s wings. Without the ability to fly, the bigger one should be able to finish the job while I get clear. Once he’s got that one dealt with, I take on the big guy. Reduces risk, but I’m still doin’ the work.” She was asking for advice, trying to see if the plan she had come up with on the spot was worth while or not. That, and she didn’t want to feel like she had somehow cheated when this was all said and done and she earned that meal that was promised.
Her father had told her, last time they spoke, that he was doing well despite the culture shock that was the Ryuutei tribe. They were able to put his carpentry skills to almost constant use, providing him a sense of purpose and a steady income so he was able to, largely, take care of himself. She still visited often, not wanting him to feel alone, but the last time she had seen him, he had been getting some interesting looks from the females in the tribe. She hoped he would be open to the idea; he hadn’t been since Lilliana, her mother, had passed.

It seemed that she was determined to do it on her own, even going so far as to pout a bit at his prior 'interference'. A laugh passed between his lips at her desire to follow the deal to such an intense letter when she was doing so well as it was.
"Such an overachiever," he stated with a grin, "though I don't mind that." Shifting his gaze back toward the battling beasts for a moment he contemplated her plan, tilting his head to the sides back and forth a few times. There was some risk involved, there was no denying that. It was true that they were slower, but they could clearly reinforce themselves with magic to augment themselves. Furthermore, they'd still be able to keep up with her speed if they noticed her, they just wouldn't move as fast. They'd be durable, too.
Still, her idea wasn't impossible. If he focused, kept an eye to kill them as needed should things get out of hand, it should be doable for her. Releasing a slow breath he would cross his arms over his chest and finally glance back down toward her.
"Alright. Let's see you take down something that durable mid-flight then." He stated simply, glancing back toward the beast. There was a reason they were at a stalemate, the other beast was far stronger that she was but it couldn't do it. She needed to rely on her wiles and magic augmentations if she wanted to get this right. As long as she didn't drop her guard, and kept her focus, she should be able to handle the situation. If not, he'd step in.
"If you look like you're in trouble though, I'm intervening. Doesn't matter how much you pout those full lips." He stated the words teasingly, tone smug before his gaze focused on the battling creatures. He was curious to see what she was able to do.

Eve didn’t take her eyes off the fight the entire time Satori was contemplating. Ultimately, he was in charge, and she would let him lay down the law because he would know what was safe and what wasn’t. She did want to live to return to her father, after all, and that meant the person who was capable of saving her ass if she got in trouble was the one in charge. She solemnly swore she was going to get strong enough to where she didn’t have to rely on them anymore, but that wasn’t the case for now.
When he finally ascented, however, she smiled. He was letting her have at it, with the promise of intervening if she got into trouble, which was nice insurance. The idle flirtation didn’t slip by either. “You dog… you already got a cutie.” With that said, she stuck her tongue out at him, cocked her hip for just a moment to show off, and then flickered away into the foliage, moving to flank them. Once she was out of sight she moved slowly, remaining downwind and moving into position while avoiding the natural hazards the plantlife tried to provide. It was slow going until she finally got up and into the trees, making nimble leaps, branch to branch, quiet as a cat.
After a couple of minutes of exercised patience, there was a moment when the flying beast swooped down and began to flap it’s wings furiously, the tail lashing at the other ground-based beast, trying to stab at it, and that was when she struck. She positioned herself perfectly not only to be in range of her target, but also to have a convenient escape route. She was twisting mid jump, using her body weight along with her enhanced strength to drive her improvised blade through the much thinner membrane that made up the wings of the flyer, slashing at four different spots, two per wing, as she went. She was successful with two, but that was enough that it would down the creature and then it would be a ground battle between the two titans.
She didn’t stop, using the enhanced speed to bolt past them and out of danger. Not only did she have to time it with the flapping of the wings, but also to when that tail was currently being used to stab at the other dinosaur. Hopefully it would manage to do some serious damage now that it was forced to fight outright. Eve was in a tree across the way, dashing forwards a bit to get out of the line of fire and a few tree rows inwards before she turned to see what was happening.

Bengal snorted softly at her comment on him already having a cutie, arching a brow as if that deterred his words in any way. The looks she'd shot toward his lover hadn't been missed by him. It was just a matter of it being entirely up to June. Shifting his gaze to the side he briefly realized it was up to Emily, as well. His lip twitched upward as a sigh passed between them. For now, there was more pressing matters. He had a responsibility after all.
"For now stop cocking your hip and get to it," he stated with a bemused expression, waving her to go on before chuckling as she flickered off. His Ki kept track of her, even as her movement speed continued to steadily increase while Bengal's eyes remained focused on the creatures. She was being creative, using the timing of the creature's attacks to time her own assault. Using the tree as a springboard, and launching to target the wings specifically before escaping. Doing her best to avoid the attacks on both the ground and winged beast.
Both noticed her, and the winged beast snarled and fell back at the last minute. Desperate to try and avoid the blade--but it was far too slow, and only managed to parry two of the swings so that two gaping wounds still spread across the wings. It was enough, the beast lost altitude, and cried out in pain. Temporarily stunned, if only for a few sparse seconds. But that was enough as the great beast below slammed its skull into the creature, a direct hit. The cracking of bone filled the air before its jaws slammed shut on the beast as its tail impaled its attacker.
But it was too late. The other beast would be injured, surely, but that was it. Bengal's head tilted to the side, watching as the winged beast stuttered, before collapsing. Its tail falling limp from the hole it had impaled in the land beasts side, before the beast slowly straightened. Roaring to the sky in victory before its gaze turned, focusing on Eve's location. However, Bengal felt no violent Ki coming from it. Begrudging acceptance?
He flickered, landing between the pair and lifting a hand to Eve, a warning that for now there was no threat. The creature jerked, surprised by his appearance but simply let out a slow hiss, and limped away. As it escaped into the jungle, the vines swirled and shifted. Forming into a large chest that expanded and grew. Bengal released a slow breath and placed his hands on his hips.
"Congratulations on clearing your first Dungeon, Eve," he stated with a chuckle. Glancing back at the woman as he nodded toward the chest. "Let's collect our spoils and head out, hm?"

While Eve was learning more about Satori as they spent more time together, she definitely had not had the opportunity to learn about his culture and what all that entailed. Blissfully ignorant, she saw June and Satori as an exclusive couple simply because she hadn’t been raised to know anything different, and didn’t want to interfere with that. For now, he was right though; she needed to focus on the task at hand, and that meant clearing her mind of anything that might pose as a distraction.
For the most part, it worked without a hitch. Using her superior speed, she was able to land the critical hits on the flyer, which she was pretty sure she would have had the most difficulty dealing with if it survived. Being able to hit something with her speed was one thing, but she wasn’t capable of flight, and that would have been a royal pain in the ass. The one on the ground was going to be tougher to bring down in regards to strength and durability, but that just meant that she would take longer to do it. Still far easier than dealing with something that could just retreat on a whim.
Eve emerged just enough to make eye contact with the land beast for a moment, and then Satori flickered in, prepared to fight, but she didn’t feel like the thing was planning to attack her. No… this was something different, and she felt like, for the first time, she had helped a Mana Beast, and it was actually thanking her in its own way. A fleeting thought of trying to keep it as a pet dashed through her mind, and she smirked, landing next to Satori as the beast retreated into the forest.
Watching for a moment, her yellow eyes grew wide as the vines and leaves literally transformed themselves into a chest, and she looked towards Satori for a moment, then back to the chest. “Hard earned rewards are the sweetest, even if they aren’t the most valuable. Let’s see what we got.” Her footsteps were light, a bit of giddiness as she all but bounced over to the chest and took a moment to look at the outside; she had literally seen this thing grow right in front of her, and she wasn’t entirely sure what that meant regarding what it would contain.
“I know I’m being paranoid, but I hate nasty surprises. Just checking for traps.” Once she had done her full inspection, she moved to the lid and slowly began to weave her fingers into the seal, feeling the squish of the vines as it gave her access to gripping it so she could open it properly. Without further ado, she swung open the lid and looked inside, anxious and curious beyond measure on what she had earned. Not that she was planning on forgetting that promised meal, mind you. That came first and foremost in her mind.

The mana that flowed through the dungeon twisted and arched, and as she investigated the chest itself Bengal released a slow chuckle of amusement at her own words.
"Some of them can be fakes, or can be trapped. But not one of a Dungeon at this tier," his gaze shifted from the plants as she searched over it, admiring the view for a moment of her leaned over it inspecting before his ear twitched. Hearing the sound of the stone and jungle vines parting as he glanced back where the door that led to the exit of the dungeon had formed. It was theorized that the Dungeons were living creatures spawned from the mana zone they resided within.
Offering up valuables and mana in return for their lives to be spared so that they could flow back into the zone to recover. It was a gamble-play, as the amount of people that cleared a dungeon were far smaller in percentage than those that died within it. If the dungeon truly devoured those that died, it explained why it was willing to part with what it had to spare itself. Bengal watched as her hands came spilling out of the chest with thick coins of gold and platinum as well as a few bags.
"The Dungeon will close itself soon, so just gather it all up and we'll check it outside," he explained with a slight smile, before turning and moving toward the exit that had manifested itself. Taking any bags that she had and wanted to be rid of while heading through the vines and stone steps, back to the surface.
"How was your first foray?" he inquired, amused as the crackling magic finally began to die off around them, ending his enhancement spells now that the threats had faded away.

There was simply too much to go over and not enough time to do it, like Satori said, and that triggered her natural instincts to make sure nothing was left behind. Out of her small backpack she unfolded several leather duffelbags and began to put everything in it she could; they wouldn’t have a ton of time before the place closed and they needed to be out of the exit that had just willed itself into existence before that could happen. It didn’t take long between the two of them before the chest was empty, and she gave a silent thanks to the dungeon, and the final ground-based Mana Beast, for allowing them this much for their hard work. It was still more money than she knew what to do with, so the chances were that she would be saving the vast majority of whatever she earned, but that was hardly the issue.
Once things were bagged up, she lifted two of the bags full, left two for Satori to carry, and walked quickly to the exit. Just because she had been victorious with her plan didn’t mean that she was going to tempt fate and linger in a Dungeon any longer than she had to. As they made their exit and the enhancement spells wore off, she felt the full weight of the prize she carried, and only took it as an opportunity to grow stronger. She would need to visit a bathhouse directly following this to get all the blood off of her, and then she might need to invest in some sort of way to keep her funds safe. There was a lot of dishonest people in the world, and she could count the people she trusted on a single hand. No one was going to rob them on their way how or she would tear them in half.
"It was great! I learned a lot there. Still got a ways to go... but thanks to you, I feel like I'll get there sooner than later." Smiling, she began to walk towards the nearest village, ready to find some means of transportation for taking their haul to where they needed it to be. She had to admit to herself that being with Satori had been some of the most fun and interesting experiences she had ever dealt with… but only to herself. Couldn’t give him that satisfaction.

Bengal chuckled softly at her excitement, and as they began to walk casually placed a hand atop her head. A burst of magic flowing through her as he activated his mana, causing those same wings to burst from their backs as he offered a smirk. "You like flying, right? May as well enjoy it while you can get it." With this, his mana pulsed as the large wings burst from his back. Sending him blasting forward through the air, knowing she'd be eager to follow on the back to to the village itself.
The amount of coin that they'd made today was likely more than she'd seen in her life. He understood her excitement all too well, and it seemed a fitting reward considering her work today. Next time perhaps she'd be able to tangle with them without using his spells to help her. A chuckle passed through his lips. If she grew as fast as June did, she'd be just fine.
