It was a cloudy, slightly windy day. Makoto huffed, fiddling with a faulty arrow as she sat with her back to the door of her wagon. Dangling one foot off of her perch, her tabi boot almost scraping the ground, the young lady finally decided to begin removing the damaged arrowhead and replace it with another. She looked around absentmindedly as she did so, taking in the scenery of what was called "the Forsaken Region" of Clover. She had been within the kingdom for a few months now, couldn't help it but notice how different it was from Hearts again and again over her travels with his merchant clan. Snapping the arrowhead off the body of the arrow and tossing it in a bin, the lass moved her attention to the sound of money and bartering not so far off her left. Profit wasn't much usually around those parts, the forsaken region was called that for a reason. Less nobles and more poor.
This was the first time they stopped by the small village called New Haven. They were on route to Hecairo, but had to make a good few more stops before reaching their destination. This was one of them. Not too shabby though, she liked more austere things. Big palaces and wide mansions just weren't her style. Not only that, less crowd in the streets also meant less need for her to stand guard to their merchandise, which in turn meant she had all the free time in the world. Perhaps she could go hunt somewhere nearby.
Flicking the now repaired arrow into its rightful place, Makoto let out a yawn as she stretched her arms and legs. She had been repairing stuff all morning, no wonder she was so groggy. She had to stay still and in a place for so long...perhaps she could change that now that he finished her boring chores. Yes yes, she would do just that!
With a small hop, Makoto's feet touched the ground. Pulling at her waist, the young girl tightened the sash around her sides and grabbed hold of her Grimoire, can't leave without it. With everything else done, Makoto strolled over to where her other clansmate were. The Kurah'in were basically a big family, so they used to stick together and sell their stuff not too far from eachother. She could see her parents being busy with a customer, while Malkom was resupplying his own stands and ferrying around a couple boxes full of his junk. The young lady would wait until her mother was finally free from her current customer to wave at her, signaling she would be going for a walk around the village on her own. She waited for a simple return gesture before grinning and walking off the big square.
Makoto loved the first few steps in a new environment. Looking around and discovering things for the first time could be such a rush for adrenaline. Sure, the current region was slightly more bland than her standard but she couldn't really complain. Before setting off into the unknown, the young huntress would double back to her wagon to sling her bow and arrow on her person. Not much meed for it in a settlement, but she never left without it.
Off she went then, coosing a random street to walk down, curiosly studying New Haven's inhabitants and their reactions to her rather...unconventional getup. It was always funny to see, she didn't mind the looks however. As far as she was concerned, her outfit was cool, light and very comfortable. More people passed by the blue haired Kurah'in girl as she decided to move towards the village outskirts. A tall guy with a mustache, a chubby looking lady with her son and a pink haired girl on the other side of the road, walking in her opposite direction. New haven sure had quite a heterogeneous population it seemed...

New Haven was a town that stood out among many other towns in the kingdom of Clover. Rather than being a traditional town, it was built up, up high in the trees with several stories dedicated to the various ways of life. Residential, mercantile, etc. You could find people walking from tree to tree in the thicket that had been grown for the sake of the Havenites. Bridges and large open terraces for people to traverse darted the town. Little elevators with pulleys that used vines and other vegetation allowed.
The town's history was rich, it dated before the Shatter, whatever that phrase meant. It was something from an old timeline, grown by a man that most forgot the name of. A town meant for refugees of Old Haven, the swallowed island nation, a place for those seeking their proper home away from the now-gone-homeland.
In this timeline however, many people had come to use the town for its natural defenses, the culture, and to learn about various cultures. It served as a town for refugees from any country, any landmass, anyone and anything could find a home in New Haven. The general population were Havenites, people from Old Haven, who were noted for their more physical nature to taking on tasks rather than using magic. Heads of orange, pink, red and yellow, the main colors that served as a signal for who they were.
This town owed its history to Willow Omens, no, not the Willow Omens that was walking by Makoto, the one that was inside of her. You see, Willow was once the captain of the Azure Deer in the pre-shatter time. He was a great man with great aspirations, but as he achieved each step of his grand plan and saw his dream come true, he became equally tired and isolated from everyone, a foreigner with no connection to Clover, and a Havenite that had lost touch with the ways.
When the Shatter happened, Willow had taken it upon himself to find a sense of peace to get that much needed rest, there was a chance encounter he had with someone named Fibi von Engel prior to this event, and a sense of familial protection overtook him. When the time came, rather than passing on to The Country, he stayed behind, his soul latching onto Fibi, who would take on the role of Willow Omens in the new timeline.
There were fragments of other souls that had latched onto the New Willow Omens though, and it caused a lot of problems for the pink-haired girl, someone who was prone to having herself overshadowed by one of these souls, especially with the change of the moon phases.
However, as the village chief's daughter, she was loved among everyone in New Haven! Her dancing skills and art were a major draw for people who had heard about her exploits: stories of a girl who mapped dungeons, drew mana beasts in detail, and had panic attacks over the simplest of frights. A card? No, Willow was a whole deck.
Today, she was just making her rounds about town, trying to sort through her thoughts as revelations about who she was were coming to light, her interest in mana beasts only emboldened further because of it.
She was humming to herself as she passed by Makoto, taking the time to wave to everyone she saw. When she approached the new face, she stopped, "Oh! Hello! It is being a great day to have a meeting! I am pleased to be seeing a new face around here!" she declared joyfully, though her common-tongue speech still needed work.

Makoto was so self absorbed in looking around that she almost missed noticing the pink girl. The girl in blue was currently looking at the various buildings around, taking in the exotic appereance of that town high up in the trees. Thankfully, the pink girl quipped at her before she could bump into someone, if not straight up bump into the pink haired girl.
"Oh Hello!" Makoto chirped, finally turning her wild hair towards the person addressing her. She did see the girl around the other days when her clan had first arrived to New Haven. She was probably a regular citizen of the village. "It's nice to meet you too!" Makoto would add, giving the girl in pink a bow. She talked a little weird, but perhaps this was how people talked around these parts. In all her travels in both Hearts and Clover, the young hunter had been around very weird people and even weirder customs. Not to mention all the weird sights she witnessed on the road. If anything, this village was the closest thing to her home. It gave her a feeling of being much more in touch with nature, which was a great thing in her book.
"I'm Makoto. Makoto Kuga Kurah'in." The red eyed lass would add a moment later to complete her introduction, noticing that the girl addressing her didn't say her name. Perhaps she called out to her because she needed Hunter services? Possible. As far as Makoto was aware, among her clan she was pretty much the odd looking member with her bluish eyes. "Huntress extraordinaire! You need anything?"

She smiled and clapped her hands together, "It is being the goodness! To having a well greeting like so! I'm working on the normal speech, I am having to ask for forgiveness. Normally I am spending my time here." She commented, while sort of looking away to the side, poking her index fingers together. Willow did have a habit of spending more time here in the village than out in the actual country!
But she was trying to overcome that by socializing with many people from outside of New Haven, and now she was getting ready to leave the village again, after having retired temporarily from the magic knights.
Makoto introduced herself, and Willow clapped her hands together once again, seeming excited, "I am being called Fila! Fila Araia Hensepyth! People refer to me as Willow Omens normally! My father is Jaokbi! The village chief. I like to be meeting the people of New Haven, visitors or otherwise. It is very helpful." She heaved a sigh out, lurching forward. Her arms dangled to her sides, as she had a slight dejected look on her face, she seemed to really hate her own self-doubt.
Snapping back up, her hands clenched into fists, her nostrils flared with determination. She wasn't going to let this stop her!
"Makoto! You had said you are being a huntress, yes? I was having a wonder! UH, come, coming with me, please!" She'd reach for the girl's wrist, looking to run off to the village chief's house. If she did, she'd bring Makoto along with her.
The house was rather spacious, it supported a familt of seven roughly, with a big open living area, and a little staircase that went up to a loft on the left and right, two lofts? One led to where the adults slept, the other led to where the young ones dwelled. "Good, no one is being home." She took Makoto with her, right to her room. To the right loft, up a second flight of stairs.
it looked like a little art studio. There was the scent of coffee, plenty of little cups with brushes in them. Off to the side was a nice open balcony that Willow liked to sit on.
"I am someone who is having a hobby of drawing mana beasts. But, I don't know much about them! I am wondering, if I can be showing you some pictures, if you could tell me more about them? I am having the idea to make a book. With the information of mana beasts and where to avoid them, or hunt them!"

Makoto was puzzled from the way the pink haired girl was speaking and acting. She was a weird one. Then again, she still did seem amicable and friendly. She just hoped to not misunderstand what she meant with things.
Tilting her head to the side, she wondered what she needed. At her mention of being a huntress, the girl had lit up in excitement. Perhaps she needed something hunted? Makoto didn't really mind having more work. She pretty much didn't oppose any resistance as she was grabbed and dragged someplace by Willow. From the looks of it, she was going to visit the village chief's house.
"Oh, that's all?" Makoto quipped, chuckling as she was dragged into the girl's room to be asked about wild mana beasts. "I can do that, sure!" She agreed, setting her bow to the side and looking for a comfortable place to sit so she could look at the pictures easier.

Willow went to fetch some of her sketchbooks. Among them were a majority of sepia-hued drawings, with a faint aroma of coffee. In each spread of the pages, there were detailed watercolor drawings of mana beasts. Ranging from avian to insectoid. From undead to bestial. It seemed that she had a knack for doing this herself.
"I use my water magic, and coffee grounds, powder, and beans mostly because it is easy to collect, and New Haven is being well known for its coffee and produce. I am...hoping to draw more, but I cannot be fighting and drawing. And while they are slain, they are quickly disappearing."
She seemed to mull over her nervousness of the situation more, glancing up to Makoto now and then as if to gauge what the other girl was feeling.
"If you would be of the willingness, I would very much enjoy having someone to go out and search out new mana beasts and fight with them while I draw them. After I finish them in action, I can be joining in the fight. It would be very nice to have an encyclopedia of the types of mana beasts, yes?" She was bouncing in her seat all giddy at the thought of it.

Makoto sat down on the floor and crossed her legs as he waited for Willow to pick her things up. Her eyes trailed around the room, curiously studying the way the other girl liked to live. It would not be long before the pink haired lass would come closer with a book of her making, showing her the various drawings she had already done. Makoto gently picked up the book, handling it as if it was something very precious mostly because it kinda was. At least to Willow it was. She gently flipped the pages around, looking at the various drawing while the other kid explained her plan to her.
"Oh! So you want me to fight them for you?" She chimed, closing back the book she was holding and handing it back to the original owner. "I can do that! I am very strong myself!" The young huntress chimed while showing off her biceps, before leaning in.
"So, what kind of beast did you have in mind? I can track anything down super easy."

"That's just the thing though! I am having no idea of what all of the ones I wish to see are, because they are the ones I have not drawn yet." She took out a few notebooks, along with copies of sketches she had done. In her picture book were coffee ground water colors, in her notebooks were actual sketches and notes. It seemed that she liked to really study mana beasts out of anything else?
"I, I would like to be making books, encyclopedias, or anything. Books that help talk about the mana beasts, and how to avoid them or seek them out for training. But, because they all change so much, I am having troubles at times. But if we could be finding rarer ones that are different or similar to other types, it could be helping to make connections needed for the books." She was bouncing on the balls of her feet, eagerly grinning the whole time.
There were people coming inside at this point, downstairs voices were muttering. Willow's family had finally come home.
"Oh, I wasn't expecting anyone to be coming back so soon. I am wondering if you would be enjoying a meal? It would be hospitable of me!"

With the day winding down as soon as it had started, it seemed that Willow had found a new ally in her hunt for a proper path to follow, a path that she wanted to pursue out of the joy of drawing these things, confronting the fears she had in her heart, and to help people all in one fell swoop. It was the beginning of a great time for her.
In the back of her mind, the influences of fragmented spirits from others of the past, before the shattering, felt at peace knowing she was able to maintain a balance within herself, and now had something to look forward to, rather than hiding out all of the time in New Haven.
Her story would grow from this point, and so would the strength within her. Willow Omens, the girl pieced together by a myriad of spirits from a time long forgotten, and the girl who wanted to carry on a legacy of those she knew nothing about.
