This was it. There was no turning back. There was no running away. Everything that she had managed to learn, all the spells she had managed to learn as well as the help along the way. Fire, Water, Light. These were all new additions to her magic and, by extension, golems. Recent as they might be to her arsenal, the Summoner was adept with golems -- some might say a prodigy, though by no means could she compare to the likes of Valo, Cyrus, Zaven, or other elite mages known for their use in golems. But compared to those of the same level, without question the brunette stood out.[break][break]
...at least… if one knew about her.[break][break]
The brunette had worked hard on her carbon magic and her defensive magic. She had, of course, visited with Vaile Blake as well, and had acquired Shadow Magic. However, what she intended to do with that was… more personal. It had no place being used right here. Especially not with another Blake present.[break][break]
“Slow, deep breaths,” she told herself. She needed to calm herself.[break][break]
This wouldn’t be her first time fighting against other people; she knew how to hold back. If anything, she knew she might have a rough time actually being proactive. But...she couldn’t afford to give less than anything than her best. Her magic at least specialized in not killing, but that was more a testament to the control she had of her golems.[break][break]
Verena was fidgeting with the ring; the gemstone, specifically. She could tell that the gem within was abnormal. It wasn’t any ordinary ring. If it wasn’t for the stakes, the Reinsberg wasn’t sure what she felt more of; relief or disappointment. But she could tell it was meant to help her. Even still, if she could win without having to rely on it, all the more reason. A decisive victory -- that was what she yearned for. What she needed. Unfortunately...[break][break]
The crimson orbs of the heiress rolled over to Naxel Blake. She didn’t know too much about him personally. She did know that he was, of course, a Blake. She could reasonably expect to see Shadow Magic as a result. There was a possibility that he used illusion magic as well, given Vaile and Zaven both did. It was possibly a preference of the Blakes, so she needed to be careful about that.[break][break]
Then, Griswold. He possessed powerful and destructive fire and area-of-effect spells that let him control the area, just like Naxel. The difference was that he seemed a bit more tunneled on that power. She had to deal with someone who hypothetically possessed illusions as well as someone who specialized in wide-scale attack magic. Her magic was …[break][break]
Simply put, she felt herself at a disadvantage here.[break][break]
To that end, she had no real strategy beyond improvision. If she tried taking on both of them at once to force them to keep their distance, she would risk being double-teamed, and that would wear her out far quicker. Alternatively, if she simply focused on taking one out a time, it wouldn’t truly show her strengths. She needed to stand out. She needed to confront Asmodeus.[break][break]
The woman brought her right hand close to her face, recalling Kikka. After Kikka, she had received this mark. The result of the daemon’s magic that had twisted the area had some sort of effect on her body. It must have been because of her own weak constitution. But she also could tell that it didn’t seem to have any negative effects on her body; it didn’t even make her own curse worse.[break][break]
As a result of Griswold’s magic, the woman had elected to wear her coat. A precautionary measure to protect her modesty; with how thin the layers she wore were under it, her thick white coat would certainly help. And if things got too bad, she could always toss it… though she would prefer not to.[break][break]
Verena knew there was no time to be reading, and so her glasses were removed for this fight. They were reading glasses after all. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, knowing that it would be more effective to keep as much out of her face as possible.[break][break]
The three contestants were poised to be two hundred meters out for the start of the match with an equal amount of distance between all three. It was decided that seeing how each would fight needing to approach an enemy. Of course, due to the flat landscape, everyone was still visible to one another; there was no need to be able to sense mana for this.[break][break]
Verena readied her grimoire. She readied her mind. Now, all that needed to be readied was the signal to begin.

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena's got her equipment ready, grimoire ready. she's ready. ideally, nobody attacks until the last poster or first person goes. i don't want to encourage the latter so i'm going to leave that to the discretion of whoever posts last. but if second person starts off the fightin, i can't really stop it. that'd just be a lil' strange... [break][break]
With all of the pleasantries out of the way, there was not a whole lot going on that kept him around the meeting area. As such, he had temporarily retreated so he could work on how best to hold his new sword. He hadn’t exactly had a whole lot of time to train with in particular, though he did work with quite a few weapons in the past. Because of that, actually wielding it in a fight would likely not be all that difficult for him. Having no real means of carrying the blade aside from holding it by hand, he tore apart one of the drapes inside of the building and wrapped the cloth around the blade before tying it to his back. With the handle sticking out, he would be able to just reach over his shoulder and grab the weapon whenever he needed it, which was about as good as things were going to get right now. With that, he returned to the site of their battle so he could take a more accurate look around.
Judging by sight alone, he imagined the arena was roughly two hundred meters in size, which did not exactly work in his favor as much as it would for at least one of them. Having no idea who Naxel Blake was, all he could tell was that he was likely a noble. That was, if he was one of those particular Blakes. As for Verena, he knew a thing or two about how she fought, using a plethora of golems to do most of the dirty work for her. Aside from that, he also knew she had a good head on her shoulders, which would make things a lot more difficult for him. When they last met however, she was a whole lot stronger than he was, while he was a whole lot weaker than he was right now too. As such, he hoped that he might have a bit of an advantage her, what with her having no idea as to just how much he had grown since their last encounter. It was the only edge he currently had, one he would lose the moment he really began fighting.
That said, it was everything he had to go on in terms of what she could do, having seen a bunch of her golems a couple of times, which would at the very least tell him what the ones she summoned could do. At least, that was what he thought counted in regards to the golems he had seen, though there was no telling how many more there were that he had not seen yet. Still, it was in the ones he had not seen yet that the greatest danger was located, as well as in the guy that was currently just one big question mark to him, Naxel. Given the distance between them all, it would seem Verena would be having the advantage over him as he would actually need to close the distance before he could actually do some damage, which was not exactly perfect for him. That, and he also had no idea what to expect from the other guy and what he might be gaining from all of this, if he were to actually be gaining anything from distance.
Right now though, there was nothing he could do that would change his predicament, so he decided to give up on worrying about the situation. In little over two months, he had managed to go from becoming a magic knight to becoming a senior knight level individual that actually qualified for the royal knights. That was what mattered most to him, even though that did not mean that he wasn’t going to be doing his best to enjoy this upcoming fight and show some of the things he could do. Hopefully his opponents weren’t too far ahead of him in that they would actively keep him from actually leaving an impression. But if they did, he would probably have deserved it, as weaklings did not belong in the royal knights. If that meant that he was a weakling, he would just need to live with that for the time being and just train harder. With that, the elven mage dressed almost entirely in black was about as ready for a fight as he could possibly be.

As she waited for the fighting to begin, she realized... Naxel hadn't shown. Despite it being announced as a three-way fight, something prevented the Blake from showing up. That was equal parts concerning as it was alarming. However, the brunette couldn't afford to focus on that. With the chaos of a three-way fight out of the question, being able to focus on one person made things substantially easier on her.[break][break]
The brunette did not assume that Griswold was by any means weak; however, she would be lying to herself if she thought that he had grown to a point where he could give her much trouble by himself as long as she was on guard. She knew to be careful of his powerful area of effect spells. Hania had also gifted him a sword -- one that seemed to have magical properties given she was able to detect some mana from it, but beyond that, she had no idea what its capabilities were.[break][break]
But being able to focus on one opponent was a lot easier than having to focus on two. This also meant that the expectations Lydia would have would likely become that much higher. The first order of business was getting within range of one's opponent. Griswold didn't possess golems as far as she knew, but even if he did, she was confident in her own skill compared to his own.[break][break]
And then the signal to begin.[break][break]
"Summoner Creation Magic: Kikka," Verena declared without any hesitation, summoning two more in addition to one[break][break]
Three bizarre winged golems manifested in front of her, each possessing a maximum wingspan of four meters with their total bodies reaching only up to two meters. With their human-like faces and eerily large blue eyes part of their design on top of the body of a bird with human hands, this was not exactly a golem that inspired hope and courage. And yet, for Verena, it was just that. Why would one fear what they could control? The horrors of Kikka made her realize just how in over her head she was.[break][break]
But if she could control that which would terrify her, why would she be afraid of it? That was one of many things she had realized in Kikka. The culmination of her experience and technique was going to be all on display now. Now, she just had to hope that it was enough to impress any of the captains, especially Lydia Ravencrest.[break][break]
All three golems lowered themselves so that she could climb up on one, but moved to the one to the far left instead of the one that was directly in front of her. From a two hundred meter distance, it would be quite difficult for Griswold to actually see which one she was on top of with any real clarity, especially when combined with the fact she was hanging low and her coat blended in nicely with the color of the cloth on the birds.[break][break]
Of course, she fully expected him to see through it sooner or later; it wasn't a perfect camouflage, but it would do nicely. Verena soared up four meters with these three birds, pushing up off the ground as they did so. This process took five seconds, and if Griswold was moving at his maximum speed, he would have been at the halfway point of a hundred meters.[break][break]
At this point, Verena began moving as well with three birds in unison. She was taking a bit of a risk, but that was fine. As she moved towards Griswold, she kept an eye on him, careful to not give away which bird she was on, especially as the three birds were constantly moving around another per her command. She wasn't readying an attack yet, but her grimoire was close by, even if not visible to Griswold, but if the two bird golems that she wasn't on did get close enough, she had them fly towards the elf at their full twelve-meter-per-second speed.[break][break]
She wasn't going to play her entire hand without first assessing the strength of the other, after all. And even then, she made sure she wasn't unprepared.

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena uses a single spell but summons three golems. flies up three meters into the air. she's got her eyes on griswold, ready to respond. [break][break]
Element: Cloth[break]Rank: Intermediate[break]Size: Up to 6 meters tall[break]Mana Cost: 20 | 10[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Matching the theme of Billy, Verena took inspiration from the horrors of the town right down to the name. Tired of her own inability to fly, as well as seeking the freedom that came with experiencing that sort of rush of mobility in the Dungeon with Bengal, the heiress went to work on crafting a new type of golem, unlike any other she had so far.[break][break]It possesses an impressive wingspan that's roughly equal in size to its height, and if being used for transportation, then it can carry up to two people; however, its speed is decreased to 10m/s if it is being used in such a manner. In addition, she can make additional Kikka for every 30 [CON] she has, maxing out at a total of 4 additional golems to summon.[break][break]Though she still believes the human form to be more ideal for the purpose of crafting golems, this looks like a perfectly ordinary bird made from the purest of white cloth. Just... an exceptionally large bird. Without a beak. And talons that are surprisingly ...unsharp. Instead, the feet look more like... human hands, made from the same color that matches the face in terms of the color of cloth. Also, it lacks a beak; instead, it possesses an eerily resemblance to a human face, sewed on with large blue eyes so as to stare seemingly right into a person's soul. The color of the cloth used to replicate the face is very similar to Verena's own skin color.[break][break]When used for offensive purposes, Kikka's most notable approach to dealing with things involves using its feet(?) to pick up adversaries, then toss them or drop them, depending on how heavy they are. It also possesses a nasty headbutt. Both instances deal intermediate levels of damage.
As things were, there were not a whole lot of things that really bothered him at this time, which was really a good thing. Even if there were various people watching this fight and would likely trip over every mistake he made, it wasn’t exactly something he concerned himself with. He had come here to show what he could do, not to fight in a battle to the death, which he imagined was the same reason for Verena being here. The only thing that bothered him right now was the fact that the third person that was meant to be a part of this battle had not showed up either here or during the speeches. In a way, he had imagined the guy would likely just make some kind of dramatic entrance in the actual examination after skipping the pre-examination meeting. As things were however, it seemed unlikely that he was still going to be showing up.
So as the signal to begin rang out, there was no longer any need to question whether this was still going to be a fight as had been planned, but would now just be him fighting Verena. Letting a sigh escape his lips as he looked on ahead at Verena, he could tell that she was already preparing herself for the fight by bringing out her trademark skill, which was the use of golems to do the fighting for her. During their last encounter, she had been quite a lot stronger than he was, not to mention a lot more skilled in the use of magic. While he still had a long way to go before he could match that skill, he had at the very least managed to push up his level of power quite a bit, hopefully reaching a level that might make it difficult for her to claim victory over him. While achieving victory seemed outside the realm of possibility, that would not keep him from trying.
Truth be told, he had not expected Verena to be the one who would make her move by steadily approaching him, figuring she would likely just be using her golems to attack him while staying all the way back where she was. So as she approached him, he began approaching her too, walking forward with a reasonable paced stride as he reached over his shoulder with his right arm. Grabbing hold of the hilt of his new blade, he tugged at it, causing the wrapping to come undone and fall to the arena floor. Making a mental note as to picking it back up once the fighting was done, at least if it hadn’t been fully or partially destroyed by that time, he felt the weight of the blade in his hand. For as heavy as it was, he knew he could easily hold it with one arm, as well as potentially swing it singlehandedly, even though that might shake him off balance.
With the two mages gradually closing the distance between them with each step they took, or rather with each step he took as she did not seem to be doing a whole lot of walking herself, he did his best to pick apart every little thing he could see with regards to both Verena and her golems. The fact that they had wings always annoyed him as it allowed them greater mobility in most cases, and that was never a good thing for him. Even though he had personally become a little bit faster, which was arguably twice as fast as he had been when they last met, he still did not feel as fast as he would have wanted to be. What with the speeds he had seen from some other magic knights over the past month, his own mobility was nowhere near acceptable. But for the time being, he would need to make it work, he had to.
For once the distance between them had been reduced to a mere fifty meters, things were clear enough for him to see, which told him that he would need to be careful not to just rush straight into the fight with his sword in hand. He simply did not know enough about her combat capabilities for such a thing, just like she did not know enough about him and the things he could do now. So just like she would likely not play her hand straight away by bringing out the big guns and attempting to blow him out of the stadium just yet, so he would keep his heavy hitters and newfound tricks on the backburner as well. Not being the overly strategic person nor the smartest person in the room most likely, he had learned a few things by watching others, as well as from those nasty situations that could have killed him, but hadn’t done so just yet.
And today, all of those experiences and teachable moments were brought to the table to show just how much or how little he had grown in comparison to the woman hovering ahead of him. For the time being, she would receive the opportunity to send forth the first attack.

As Verena drew closer to Griswold, she decided to keep the distance to him no closer than sixty meters away, but her other two golems were the ones that made it within that fifty-meter gap. However, now seemed as good a time as any to test the limits of his strength, and so she sent her other two golems at him, allowing them to fly at their full twelve-meter-per-second speeds as they flew towards him with seemingly kamikaze-like intentions.[break][break]
Meanwhile, Verena herself kept her eyes attached on Griswold. Regardless of how he kept his grimoire, if he readied a spell, it would surely show up near his person, and it wasn't as if his magic was very stealthy. There would be a lag in her command with her golems; that was inevitable. But if she could at least predict what he was likely to do...[break][break]
Griswold was likely still weaker than she was. It was hard to imagine that he would have caught up in terms of skill so quickly. If that was the case, then his best option was to wait for her to make some sort of mistake and capitalize on it. In other words, he likely wouldn't be going all out from the getgo, either.[break][break]
Verena fully expected him to launch a spell, and to do so with the intent to eliminate her two golems first. Putting herself in his position, Griswold would want to make sure they wouldn't have time to dodge. After which, it only made sense to deal with her. He would definitely want to close the gap between them to prevent her from being able to react. So then the best possible course of action was...[break][break]
Once her two Kikka golems approached twenty meters of Griswold, if they did, she launched Carbon Magic: Survival Instinct directly in front of the one to the left that was approaching him, blocking its path, but also protecting it from any possible attacks. Even if he wasn't able to tell about how strong these golems were, he likely knew Verena wouldn't use her weakest spells, but she also had no reason to use her strongest available to her right now, either.[break][break]
If Griswold shot his spell within before that, Verena would still have enough time to ready her Carbon Magic, but if the elf shot it after the twenty meters, then they'd be destroyed regardless. However, in any situation, with the carbon construct erected, two chains shot forth from it moving at forty meters a second, though their maximum range was at least thirty meters given the forty-meter distance between Verena and her construct.[break][break]
If any of them managed to pierce Griswold, they wouldn't cause him any pain; however, he'd immediately realize that his mana regenerative abilities would be hampered upon. Not just that, he'd realize that his own mana would be directly "attacked".[break][break]
This was probably the best method to catch the Lion off guard, Verena felt. In their time in the dungeons, she hadn't ever had to rely on her defense magic, nor had she used her restraining magic. Her golems had been enough to handle everything in those fights.[break][break]
If Verena had at least one remaining golem besides the one she was on, however, that remaining golem would come flying towards Griswald, intending to grab him using the hands and tightly gripping his shoulder, before quickly flinging him further away from Verena. The tumble wouldn't send him too far, however, but his mana skin would have definitely been weakened a bit given the momentum.[break][break]
In this hypothetical play, there was one person who was still at risk, however. But Verena's hyper-focused eyes did not ever let Griswold disappear, doing her best to make sure she never lost visual of him, though she did lower herself to just being two and a half meters above the ground.

COMBAT SUMMARY

[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR verena takes the fight to gris. lowers herself to just 2.5meters above the ground, but also sends two of her golems flying towards gris. assumes that he'll attack one or both of her golems and attempts to protect one of them (left) by trying to predict what she think griswold would do. the wall she summons shoots a chain attempting to mess up gris' mana, while she tries to use a golem to fling griswold away via a golem if there is any golem that she isn't riding.[break][break]

Elemental Type: Carbon Matter[break]Rank & Spell Type: Senior, Defense Creation & Restraining[break]Range & Speed: 80 m, 40 m/s[break]Mana Cost: 30 (cast) 15 (sustain)[break]Stats Effected: +6 DUR, -20 Mana Regen[break]Applicable Perks: Hazardous Shields, Juggernaut, Mana Prison, Sapping Bonds[break]Description: Upon usage, Verena creates a wall that is 2x4x5 (length x width x height) made of pure carbon and as such is akin to a jet black in color. The wall appears as though it's constantly moving around, and this is in part due to [Juggernaut], as it is capable of, with limited usages, of strengthening itself in what would otherwise tear right through, or damage it to render that damage obsolete. If someone tries to attack the wall, the carbon will react and will spike out, damaging whoever is attacking it equal to [Intermediate] damage thanks to [Hazardous Shield]. In addition, the wall is capable of shooting out a solid "chain" of carbon though, plus one additional chain for every 50 [CON] she has. These chains function in accordance to clashing rules, and cause strain on a person's ability to regenerate their mana, depleting it by 20 (though if their mana regenerative ability is lower, then it will be reduced to 1). If they catch a person, their ability to cast spells is reduced by fifty percent of what would be their normal casting limit. In addition, if they manage to bind someone, their mana will be sapped by ten, giving Verena half of what is drained.
And just like that, things hit off when Verena launched two of her golems towards him, moving at a high speed that might be rather problematic for him. Regardless, he was feeling confident in the fact that his own speed would be able to match them for the most part as he had gotten a fair amount faster too. So once the golems darted towards him, so did he stop walking and move off in a sprint towards Verena. With every step he took, the distance between them got smaller and smaller as both he and the golems moved at about ten meters per second, meaning he would need little over six seconds to get to where Verena was right now. This was because he was not just running unopposed, what with the golems moving from two sides on a collision course, he would not get the chance to just get there without encountering any issues along the way. Quite the opposite actually.
So with the rate they were going in, the golems and Griswold would collide in little over two seconds somewhere halfway, as that was just basic math. Narrowing his eyes as he watched the golems come in from both the right and the left a few seconds later, he had to make a choice as to which one he would attack, or he would have to use his mana in order to do something else entirely. If he could use one of his burst spells as a means of knocking them away, all he would really need to do was have them make contact with the outer boundaries of the solar pulse, which would send them flying back at least a few meters. In that time, he would be able to make the distance between himself and Verena that much smaller. For the time being, he would not need to worry about his pulse actually breaking the golems as he just needed them out of the way. So as he glowed for a moment, he prepared to strike with his blade in case his spell was not enough.
With a distance of roughly twenty meters between them, he felt like unleashing his spell now would give him enough time to prepare for a strike of his sword while giving the golems too little time to break away from their trajectory which was on a collision course with his soon to be spell attack. So when the solar mana burst forth from him and moved outward, it would quickly cover a thirty-five meter range, at which point it would collide with the two incoming golems and knock them both out of the way, and generally away from his person for a good fifty-nine meters. If they got hit, there was no way either of them were going to get back to him in time before he would get to where Verena was, which was exactly what he had hoped for. But just in case he would fail at knocking the golems away, that’s when the sword came in. Already holding it to the side with both hands and beginning to swing, just as the burst would collide with the golems, a peculiar wall rose from the ground and protected the one his right.
While it would certainly protect that one, the same could not be said for the one on his left, which would have no such defenses to hide behind. Continuing to move forward, his blade was still mid swing when a pair of chains shot forward from the wall. Moving so quickly, the was nothing else he could do aside from finishing the swing of his bastard sword while almost instinctively letting his mana skin cover the length of the weapon. Clashing the large crystalline blade against the magical chains, he managed to break them, though the momentum working against him forced him to break in his tracks for a moment. But that was not going to hold him down for long, as he continued moving forward soon after, knowing that one of the golems was still sitting behind the protection of the wall while the other had most likely been blown far away by the pulse. Annoying as it was however, the golem Verena was sitting on top of was faster than he was, and with her constantly moving back as soon as he even thought about moving forward, he was in for a rather annoying little game.
For the moment, he had mostly been lucky as holding off against another similar attack of golems and chains might be what would do him in, but for the moment he was still around and quite fine. Having more or less accidentally learned that he could utilize his mana skin to reinforce his weapon to allow him to strike magical constructs or spells was at the very least going to be something that would be useful to him whether he would win here today or not. Continuing to move forward, albeit at a slower pace so he would be able to defend himself from however many golems might be coming for him soon, he knew that it was the only way for him to even get close to the notion of victory. To do so, he would need to push the woman far enough back to the point where she would eventually reach the walls of the arena, at which moment he would be able to close in and maybe do some damage of his own. As this was really his only hope, he had no choice but to continue onward while fully mindful of the golems and similar walls popping up.

Verena was keeping an astute eye on Griswold. Every action that he took and didn't take held meaning. If she was to assume that he would be giving it his best, then it would make sense that he would be doing everything in his power so that he could obtain victory. The fact he wasn't flying on his own in some form, to her, meant that he lacked that type of mobility. That was good. It gave her a distinct advantage in that sense. She would definitely aim to exploit that.[break][break]
Griswold's speed had presumably increased since they had last met. Though it was possible he was always this fast, it did come somewhat as a surprise to the brunette. Still, it wasn't anything that she couldn't keep up with. But even still, it was much better that she pay attention and prevent the distance from them from getting too close. Keeping him from getting any closer to sixty meters was ideal. It'd still give her enough time to react accordingly.. but it was time to change that.[break][break]
As her golems and Griswold drew closer, her expectations came to fruition; Griswold used a spell that attacked both of her golems, but she had managed to predict the timing roughly accurately. The golem that was coming for Gris on her right, however, was not so lucky, and the impact was enough to destroy it in one fell swoop, being sent flying before mana dispersed. Though it wouldn't get anywhere near close to the full knockback, Verena noted that it was still an impressive distance before it dispersed.[break][break]
Meanwhile, her other golem was shielded from the impact by her wall, thankfully. Verena had ordered it to attack Gris, and the momentum from bearing his strength against the restraints to destroy them both would have given Kikka reasonably enough time to swoop in and grab the other's shoulder to toss him if Gris wasn't able to respond accordingly. The grip strength alone from the flying golem was enough to cause pain, though the landing wasn't exactly a pretty one, either. Gris was only picked up from three meters before being tossed, which given his height, only resulted in a little under two meters off the ground.[break][break]
Of course, it was entirely within the realm of possibility that he managed to cut himself free and destroy that golem before being tossed, but the pressure on his left shoulder would have been the main source of damage to his person, if not for his mana skin. Assuming, of course, that it was able to strike him at all.[break][break]
But either way, Verena decided that it would be best to put more pressure on Griswold and keep him occupied. All the while, viewing it as important to show off. To show as much of her skills as possible. When she was certain that she would win, that seemed like a good time to show off. However, for now, she would simply decide that it would be in her best interest to apply more pressure on Griswold.[break][break]
Verena took a deep breath, focusing, though not letting the elf out of her sight. "I apologize, Griswold," she thought to herself. But it was important that she showed Ardere the culmination of what their training had offered unto her.[break][break]
The words were all she needed to say. Mana spiraled before her, rising and stacking up on top of another. Its body seemed made of coal, with intricate pieces forming around its shoulders to give the impression of spikes. What resembled armor was lodged around its chest, sternum, and waist.[break][break]
Upon its creation, however, the golem immediately flexed, as flames of a blue hue engulfed its body. "Meet Griswold at twenty meters. Then, 'Shoot'."[break][break]
Per command, her golem charged ahead, racing ahead and closing the near sixty-meter gap quickly enough. It only needed a little over two seconds to pull that off to be in range for that command. Once it was, however, it outstretched its arm as it let out an explosive amount of heat. Of course, Griswold wasn't perfectly centered in its aim; it was possible that he was able to escape this incoming attack. It wasn't Verena's primary objective, after all.[break][break]
Yet this posture it took--this confidence it seemed to radiate-- without any question, this was a golem inspired by Ardere Kasai. And the speed at which it moved, the stance it took before rushing towards its target. It was clearly that of Valo Stark's own style. Both fire mages at the apex of their respective element, and both mages whom she respected wholeheartedly.[break][break]
When she summoned Bestimmung, the brunette had stopped moving back and retreating. She wasn't being careless though. She was fully aware of the risks of this approach. But even still, she was confident enough in what her next plan was that it would be enough. Given that a new pair of chains from the very same wall that he ignored and had likely had moved past were coming at him at forty meters a second from behind him. This was the last thing she needed to test: how astute of a sensor was he?[break][break]
Whether Griswold was able to dodge the flames or not, the chains would still come for him; it was simply a matter of where he was at that would determine when she shot them. If they did manage to hit, his mana regenerative abilities would be hit as well as his actual mana, whereas her own mana would replenish as long as these chains hit. Whether or not this was successful or not, however, she dismissed this construct, having obtained enough information on his abilities to figure out her next move.

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR we're both feeling like shit. i can't tl;dr it beyond verena just summons another golem and tries hitting gris with both of her golems. kikka tries grabbing his shoulder and tossing him back a bit, and bestimmung tries roasting him. while his focus is on that, she uses her wall to shoot the chains back. she's also stopped moving back.[break][break]
Element: Fire[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 9m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems, Ranged Golem[break]Description: Bestimmung's source of inspiration comes from two different people. Valo Stark, and of course, the man who taught her fire magic -- Ardere Kasai. With the Royal Knight Exams upcoming, she sincerely felt the need to create something amazing despite struggling beforehand with a source of inspiration. And so she got to work with its creation.[break][break]The first matter of business that Verena felt was prudent in its creation was that this golem needed to be able to contain the fire, rather than be in a constant state of the inferno. To that end, Bestimmung resembles a tall, humanoid figure made up of coal. Make no mistake though, this golem can and will emit enough heat to set itself ablaze when engaging in combat scenarios. In fact, when fighting does happen, it creates a flaming cape and waist cloth born of the inferno that made it, and its body lights up in accordance to the temperature.[break][break]This coal seems to serve as an armor -- a testament to Verena's durable golems [Reinforced Golems]. This "armor" is adorned as a headpiece across its head, with finely shaped coal lodging out around the neck and shoulders to give it an intimidating look. A chest piece is adorned as well, with charcoal-like markings on it to look the part of flame -- this is, of course, not charcoal, but rather it was simply burned into this piece, as are the ornate pieces going down the sternum and hip around the hips and shoulders. Something resembling a belt is adorned across Bestimmung's waist as are more pieces of charcoal armor -- a testament again to Verena's desire to make durable golems.[break][break]What makes this golem unique is that there were two sources of inspiration for it. Taking in the best of what she learned from both Valo Starrk and Ardere Kasai. As with most golems, this golem is proficient in short-range attacks. When engaging in short-range battle, this golem emits a blue hue and that does seem to be its constant state. It uses its powerful punches and kicks to deal with enemies, dealing [Senior] damage and each hit leaves burns befitting of such. It is capable of striking with enough force to knock back whomever it hits with its melee attacks per knockback rules. This golem prefers to grab onto its opponents and use its whole body to emit heat capable of damage if it manages to grab someone. This blue flame was inspired by Valo Starrk.[break][break]This golem is capable of shooting out fire as well from the palm of its hands. It doesn't take much for it to achieve this, and as such as soon as the command "Shoot" is given, its hand glows with a vibrant red and yellow color before a blast of fire is shot out up to [20m], covering everything directly in front of the golem in that range in heat capable of dealing [Intermediate] damage, and burns of equal intensity. This is not a full circle AOE, but instead only covers everything within that designated AOE in a cone-like fashion, thus not endangering allies who are directly next to or behind Bestimmung. Most importantly to Verena, as these fires are only temporary and cannot be sustained, they are incapable of causing any large-scale fires, burning out quickly after their initial attack.[break][break]Like most golems, additional ones be made via ammo rules, capping out at a total of three additional ones. However, these golems are ill-suited to being used as transportation and as such are not used as such. In addition, this golem is incapable of dealing more than [Senior] damage to a single target.
For however much it was worth, the pulse he had sent out had actually managed to shatter one of the incoming golems, the other remaining quite safe behind the wall that had been erected moments before sending out a bunch of chains that seemed like they were going to be quite annoying if they hit him. Being a rather simplistic kind of knight when it came down to it, the only things he was really good at were sensing imminent danger and responding to it with what prowess he had managed to build up through the use of swords and enhanced magical senses, not to mention how he had increased his mana skin to the point where he could take on more damage and even spread it out over his sword to allow it to actually cut down the chains that had been sent his way. Having managed to do so because he was still in the middle of a swing he had prepared for the golem, the fact that the wall blocked its path allowed Griswold to move on.
Because the wall that protected the golem would have slowed it down, if not forcing it to fully break off it’s forward momentum so as to fully keep itself protected behind it, it gave the elven knight a bit of time to make his way towards where Verena was before it could start engaging him again. Once it did however, it would not be long before it would be on its way again to try and chase him down. Griswold however did not plan to wait around for that to happen, which was exactly why he had kept running even during the slicing of the magical chains. So as he ran and put some distance between himself and the cowering golem while at the same time trying to close the distance between him and Verena, he could not help but feel like he was fighting a losing battle here. There was no way these golems were the penultimate creations of her arsenal, yet even by using just one of them to stay away from him, there was likely no way for him to keep up as he couldn’t actually fly.
Thanks to his burst, he had managed to buy approximately three seconds before the golem chased him down again, and knowing the slight difference in their speed, it was likely going to catch up to him again quite soon. While it was moving behind him, Griswold could not actually see him, though he had a fairly accurate estimated at where it was due to the fact that he could sense the mana within it. And while it might not have been accurate to the millimeter, it was at least something. Knowing he would not to deal with it sooner or later, he began charging up his mana to dish out a second attack, because he simply could not run the risk of it catching up to him when another one of those walls could pop up at any moment, or worse, more golems might be thrown into the mix to make it that much harder for him to get to where he needed to be. So as his body began radiating again, it would give off the impression that he was going to be using the same spell again, which was one of the few nifty things about his new spell additions.
Doing his very best to move to where his real target was hovering, as well as the other golem being in pursuit, he noticed something he was not altogether happy about as it seemed that there was already a new challenger taking shape. With the mana he had just burned through for one of his more powerful spells, he really did not want to have to go through the trouble of pulling out a second one so soon after the first. But judging by the appearance of the new golem, he would not be having a whole lot of choice. Judging by the appearance of the construct, as well as the fact that Verena stopped moving back and now seemed to stand her ground, that could only mean one thing, and that was that she had a lot of faith in this one. Just looking at how it stood triumphantly before it started approaching him at a rate much higher than what the other golem had been capable of, he almost felt like he was merely walking or at best jogging compared to the burning coal man.
Doing the only thing he could do in this case, he charged up his mana for as much as he possibly could as there was no way that this guy was going to approach this quickly just to try and match his fists against his sword. Turning his free, unoccupied hand into a fist while his blade was still held in his right hand, Griswold and this new clone approached one another up until the moment where it suddenly stopped in it’s tracks as it instantly unleashed a torrent of flame that initially seemed to be aimed right at him in a straight line before widening and approaching him like a wall of fire. Releasing the same burst of solar mana he had used when he had tried to incapacitate the flying golems that had been after him previously, he hoped that this attack would be enough for him to pass through the incoming attack and maybe even hit the golem if there was to be enough power behind it to actually overpower the flames. With his reasoning being the exact same as it was with the other attack, this being that if he could not overpower this attack with the power he currently had at his disposal, he should probably not even be here, he kept his sword handy in case he was wrong and was about to get hit by a mass of flame before he’d need to physically contend with the golem.
However, when he sensed another source of mana and the direction it came from, it did not take him long to know exactly what was going on. There was a reason why Verena was actively keeping her distance from him, likely being linked to the fact that she used golems to fight and focused herself on defenses and those annoying chains. If she could keep him in one spot, she would be able to just use golems to overwhelm him along with walls to counter his attacks, forcing him to wear himself out while she would get out of it without taking a single hit. Because the golem had come from behind the wall when it had started moving towards him again, and the new mana source coming from that same place, it did not take a genius to piece together than she was again using those damned chains in an attempt to bind him so the golem could wear him down. But that was not something he could allow to happen, not now that he had his back turned towards it. Luckily for him however, his spell did not require him to face his threat.
In a burst of luminosity, a large beam of solar energy would blast forth from Griswold’s body, moving in the direction of the golem and the approaching chains. Not stopping for even an instant, he would rely on his senses to warn him as to whether the enemy mana would still approach him or not after competing with his spell. The sole reason why he just kept moving forward like a horse wearing blinders was simple; If his beam could not overpower the chains and the golem, it would not matter if he could turn around in time to stop them, because his strength of body and magic would simply not be enough to win this fight. The only way he was even going to get close to potentially winning this was if he managed to get close enough to Verena to give her a firm beating, which was not something he could do if he had to focus on the same stationary wall and the fast-flying golem. Regardless of what happened next, there was really nothing else he could do about it now aside from hoping that he was strong enough to overcome the odds thrown at him and to move on as planned.
TLDR: Griswold kept moving towards Verena while being fairly shocked at the fact that she would give away one of her advantages by stopping. Used the senior attack to hopefully destroy the golem and overpower the incoming chains while using the intermediate AoE burst spell to either slow down or overpower and maybe hit the fire golem and his fire spell. Griswold keeps moving forward.

Making the body of the user radiate with light before the beam erupts forward, it is initiated in exactly the same manner as Quasar, allowing for a surprise element towards those that are familiar with his spells. Instead of exploding when coming into contact with a solid surface, it will instead attempt to burn its way through by either punching through almost all non-magical structures with ease or by melting it on contact. Scorching the earth and leaving a trail in its wake, the beam can cause minor third degree burns, break bones and make a direct hit quite lethal. Using the “ammo” rules, the caster is capable of preventing allies of being hit by the beam. During the day, the spell takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.

Observing how Griswold handled the second and last of her cloth golems, besides the one that she herself was currently on, Verena wasn't surprised to have seen him deal with that one. The speed at which it moved was only slightly faster than Griswold's own. But the truth was Verena had sent that golem as little more than a diversionary tactic. Her only regret was that it had barely impacted things at large. But not for one single second did she believe that it would be truly effective, not with what she had seen thus far.[break][break]
Griswold's approach to Bestimmung and the chains did not actually give her the answer she was seeking, however. He was simply firing off his area of effect spells ad nauseum, and as such, it was impossible to really tell if he was actually an acute sensor, or if he just saw the golem and chose to strike it and everything else it was trying to do. She had to admit, that was frustrating, but the manner in which she used the chains in conjunction with the golem didn't really give her that information. But that was fine, either way.[break][break]
However, the woman's eyes widened momentarily when she saw just how far Bestimmung had been blown back by the superior firepower of Griswold. As far as golems went, they were always going to be stronger than an even average mage of equal rank. However, for a mage who specialized in one area, and one area alone? It didn't make too much of a difference. Verena had not ever been in a situation where she had to see or experience a collision of power against power, and thus the need to include that in her overall strategy wasn't quite there.[break][break]
"...I see," she thought to herself, bringing her thumb up to her mouth as she bit on the nail.[break][break]
This was a new experience for her. But she was nothing if not adaptable. That was what allowed her to get so far, and her own magic allowed her to be one of the most versatile mages. She had already planned on this next move from the beginning, but it was going to be exhausting. Not just that, with how much mana it was going to consume, the brunette needed to carefully consider how to position her golems.[break][break]
It was vital that she take into consideration what she had seen from Griswold thus far. He possessed excellent swordsmanship with incredible power and enough control to flow mana from his person into his weapons that would allow him to deflect individual attacks, if not outright destroy them. What he couldn't destroy, he could deter with powerful knockback effects. He also possessed a spell that was capable of potentially blinding her if she wasn't careful. It would do her well to not get too close to allow him to capitalize on that.[break][break]
Formation was key here. Timing was key. Throwing everything she had at him all at once would get her nowhere. Structure. Placement. Timing. She needed to be careful with how she was going about this; it wasn't as one-sided as thought prior. She wouldn't be able to overpower him in a battle of pure power, nor would her golems. So she had to force him to drain himself. If that was the case, then...[break][break]
One. Two. Three. Four. Five.[break][break]
Griswold wouldn't need to be an astute sensor to pick up on what was going on here. A massive downpour of mana was flooding nearby Verena. Even if he couldn't tell what elements they were, it was very possible that due to his elfish nature, Verena was calling in a flood of different elements. Earth, Wood, Sound, Light, and Water specifically, a few of which he hadn't seen her use.[break][break]
Wilhelm and Phaunus' Gift were weaker golems. Both of them were summoned with as many as possible, giving her a total of three and six respectively. Phaunus were summoned at the forefront and were charging Griswald. Her wood magic wasn't anything impressive, and thus they'd simply be used to force Griswold to take action against a horde of six enemies.[break][break]
The former was an eight-meter tall construct that possessed a single, glowing yellow eye and a heart-shaped design located where a human heart would be. It was humanoid in shape, being made up of various earthen materials such as dirt, soil, et cetera. It possessed massive limbs that were almost as large as it itself was, giving it an impressive seven-meter reach. These golems moved at the moment there was the order, as the gap between the two would close very quickly.[break][break]
Phaunus was inspired by her love of nature. It was an incredibly simple golem, with wood being woven together to give the look of three meter-tall humanoid figure. It was obvious that it was only capable of simple punching and kicking, and lacked much else. Griswold was still faster than it was as well, but it was the numbers that would force him to need to expend mana less he found himself overwhelmed by the twelve junior golems. Similarly to Wilhelm, its utility was as simple as it looked, but it was nonetheless effective.[break][break]
While he was focused on that, Sonia, manifested. Two of them, in fact. Verena had one of them race around the track, moving around Griswold, and was careful to not enter the range of his area of effect spells. Meanwhile, the moment the elven born had finished dealing with her earth and wood golems, the other one raced towards him with Verena's command. It aimed to strike him right across the chest with its sharpened dord-like fingers, causing him a bit of pain, but also tearing through his mana skin. Griswold hadn't received any damage yet, so she was confident that his mana skin would protect him from this. Her other Sonia remained forty meters behind Griswold, less it was stopped in some way.[break][break]
Sound magic was taught to her by her beloved friend, Suna. Verena had to make sure she represented it well here, and she would have much preferred not to make a short show of it. Her scout golems absolutely could not match Griswold's superior power, but they would most certainly be capable of outspeeding him and could likely keep up with his magic to some degree.[break][break]
When or if Griswold had dealt with that threat, there was still more though. After all, there were still three more golems that the elven born had to contend with. And that would be from her light golem next.[break][break]
Flügel, as it was named, took the form of a nine-meter-tall dragonoid creature, though its posture was reminiscent more of a human being. It possessed a simple order. It was to advance toward Griswold at its maximum speed of twenty-three meters a second and then unleash that overwhelmingly bright light to try to blind the mage.[break][break]
If it appeared successful, Verena ordered the other Sonia to advance towards Griswold, easily clearing the space in a little over a second to try to strike him down, but to avoid a lethal injury; a simple full-powered tackle would have been best to avoid any serious injury. However, if the first attack from Sonia hadn't hit, then Verena's order was to use the dord to try to pierce through his mana skin.[break][break]
Of course, Verena knew better than to believe that Griswold was finished. In fact, she fully anticipated him to use another AOE the moment he was blinded if he was unable to protect himself, fully believing that he would do so to shield himself from her Sound golems, knowing that they were among her fastest. To that end, Bestimmung was ordered to charge in, and attempt to land a solid, powerful strike to the man's stomach if Griswold wasn't already defeated.[break][break]
Fluss, however, remained perfectly still, remaining in front of Verena to try to shield her from anything. It was a massive, twelve-meter-tall golem that gave off a similar aura as Bestimmung, and yet it was completely different. If Griswold was to try to guess what element it was at a glance, it wasn't likely he'd know that it was a water golem, especially with the armor adorned over it.[break][break]
Fire. Water. Earth. Wood. Cloth. Sound. Light. Carbon Matter. Eight different elements, unheard of within the Clover Kingdom; perhaps even the world, several of which were being demonstrated with uncanny skill. Verena was panting a bit, using well over half of her total reservoir to pull this off. It was obvious that she had done this with the intent to show off. It was incredibly tiring to put that much effort in, but if there was one way to show off, this had to be it.[break][break]
"This is the culmination of all of my knowledge, experience, and training... is this to your liking, Royal Knight Captains?" Verena thought to herself while focusing on the battle.

COMBAT SUMMARY
[break]
[attr="class","verenaver2scroll2"] TL;DR oh god just read the post.[break][break]
Element: Earth[break]Rank: Intermediate[break]Size: 8m[break]Mana Cost: 20 | 10[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Wilhelm's name is taken from one of Clover's predominant Noble Families, named after their affinity for earth-related magic. It takes the form of a massive bipedal eight-meter tall giant made of solid rock and dirt. It has a single yellow eye with a matching yellow heart-shaped design located on the left part of it's chest.[break][break]The golem is capable of transporting up to two people at a time, though no speed loss occurs due to the lower speed it moves at compared to the 10m/s listed. Instead, it just moves at the standard six meters a second as listed. In addition, it receives a +1 to [DUR] as a result of Summoner bonus.[break][break]The golem has no real notable features about it other than it's size and durability and is in many ways similar to Verena's Gaia. However, its massive size offers it more range, as the giant bulking arms are nearly as tall as it itself is, increasing its range of attack to being seven meters. In addition, Wilhelm is far more powerful; a blow from its fists deal intermediate damage and are capable of sending opponents flying four meters, plus an additional five for every 10 [POW] it possesses.[break][break]For every 30 [CON], Verena is capable of summoning an additional Wilhelm, though it is largely just kept at one as a result of its massive size. Its fists when clenched are almost the size of the average fully grown man, just being a little shy of two meters. It may not be the most versatile, but it is effective all the same.[break]
Spell Element: Wood[break]Spell Rank: Junior[break]Mana Cost: 10 | 5[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: Summoner Creation: Phaunus' Gift is made utilizing mana with Wood Affinity. The golem itself is incredibly simple in design. It's a humanoid golem made from wooden branches that have been smoothed out, and then banded together with more limber wood to hold it in place, like a wicker basket. The golem is incredibly basic and barebones in it's functionality, only punching and kicking to assail it's enemies. Still, due to it's simplicity, it is incredibly easy to control, and effective for most other tasks she may need them for.[break][break]Verena is able to create one (1) golem per ten (10) control she has at once, maxing at five.
Element: Sound[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 3m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Scout[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems, Ranged Golems[break]Description: Verena's newest sound golem is, for all intents and purposes, the culmination of what she has been trying to achieve. With excellent sensory skills that far outperform any of her current golems and their incredible speed, Sonia golems represent her first new type of golem: Scout golems.[break][break]Sonia golems take the form of a human skeleton; however there are many differences in the anatomy--rather, instead of bone, various types of metals make up its bones, but all ultimately make up a variety of instruments. The skull is covered in a hard material that offers enhanced protection, but brass encompasses most of it, and piano keys make up its teeth. Inside its mouth is a large sound amplifier that is connected to a large brass pipe that functions as a spine.[break][break]The golems 'ribs' are made up of a variety of pipes and Sonia's shoulders have cymbals protruding them ever so slightly like shoulder spaulders. The sternum looks like a series of clarinets melded together against the pipes, though the topmost pipes connect into these clarinets. Sonia's arms are made up of batons, and its hands are made up of smaller cymbals. Attached to these cymbals are instruments are known as dords.[break][break]Where a stomach would be exists a large drum protected by a series of steel pipes connected. Similar to Sonia's arms, the legs are made up musical batons, with knees that look like very small cymbals as well. Furthermore, it possesses feet that look cymbals and dord-like toes again.[break][break]These golems are incapable of being rid upon, but for every 50 [CON], Verena is capable of summoning an additional Sonia. In addition, these golems are capable of unleashing a sound wave that can reach up to [140m] from Verena's current position relative to their own. In other words, if they are [70m] from Verena, this sound wave is only capable of reaching up to seventy meters from their own position. This sound does not hurt Verena. However, anyone within [20m] will suffer [Intermediate] damage due to the area-of-effect nature of this spell, and these sounds travel at [20m/s].[break][break]Doing so grants the caster awareness of mana signatures nearby. However, this does not allow them to differentiate friend from foe. It does, however, allow them to figure out humans from animals, mana beasts, and other non-human entities (elven and dwarven characters still count as human). This 'scream' implants images in the user's head in a manner similar to echolocation, shaping outlines of the landscape and sending them back to the user. This is solely limited to entities that are not hiding their mana in some way. What the caster does with that information is entirely up to them.[break][break]Due to this ability, these golems are the ideal scouts. With superior range, sensory prowess and speed, information gathering is a breeze when it comes to dealing with her surroundings.[break]
Element: Light[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 9m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Balanced[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golems[break]Description: At current, Flügel serves as Verena's primary means of transportation due to the urgency in which it was made. Though she was able to learn Light Magic not too long ago, she was still able to hone what she had learned and fine-tune it into a remarkable golem all the same. The golem is unique compared to her normal humanoids -- this is obviously a dragon.[break][break]The dragon is a bright, almost blinding color. Similar to Verena's other golems, it is armored [Reinforced Golems], but this armor seems less to protect it and more to contain its form. This "armor" is still made from light magic, however, despite being overall being darker in color. However, one can very clearly see bits of light breaking through giving the obvious impression that light can channel through it to enhance its brightness.[break][break]Flügel takes the form of a bipedal dragon, glowing with such an intensity that the armor adorned over its head, neck, shoulders, knees, back and entire tail seem to be created to try to keep it in check. Concentrated throughout its body are orbs of bright light, with the most potent one being directly in the center of its chest. It possesses six wings, with the outside portion of these wings being armored albeit barely. These wings do not function too well as appendages for combat, but they are useful for blocking all the same. Their primary purpose is to channel light (either from itself or around it) to cast a bright light by feeding that energy directly into the "core".[break][break]Flügel's primary objective is to serve as Verena's primary means of transportation, taking advantage of Light magic's boon. To that end, its maximum speed as a result of the rare magic when being used as transportation is [25m/s], and the golem is capable of transporting up to three people at a time. In addition, for every 50 [CON] Verena possesses, she is able to call on another Flügel, per ammo rules.[break][break]Unlike the other golems at Verena's disposal of equal rank, this golem is incapable of ranged attacks. However, it is able to channel the brilliant light in its body to encompass a [40m] area of effect in light. This light is capable of blinding anyone whose [SEN] is 10 or less than Flügel's [POW]; however, once used, those who were affected will have their eyes automatically adjust to that specific intensity after that momentary blindness, and regardless of if more than one was summoned via ammo rules, they will be unable to blind the same person(s) again. If the Flügel is dismissed and then resummoned, however, they will be able to use this ability again. This, combined with its speed allows Verena to make getaways as necessary. However, this golem is still more than capable of fighting, equipped with powerful claws, fangs, and even its six wings are capable of piercing through opponents, all of which deal [Senior] damage.
Element: Water[break]Rank: Senior[break]Size: Up to 12m[break]Mana Cost: 30 | 15[break]Type of Golem: Guardian[break]Applicable Perks: Puppet Master, Reinforced Golem[break]Description: Fluss takes the tall of a bipedal humanoid figure. As with most of Verena's golems, it is more human in its appearance than anything else. Its skin is light, almost peaceful blue like a calm ocean. As with all of Verena's Golems, however, it is armored [Reinforced Golems] with deep blue plating across its arms, shoulders, and thighs. Gold runs down the central plating and around its waist as well as possessing golden shoulder spaulders and wrist guards.[break][break]It seems to also possess a helmet of some kind, but the truth is this just part of its face. Golden wing-like ornaments are placed on this "helmet" as well.[break][break]At a glance, nothing about Fluss seems like it would embody water magic beyond its own coloration. It possesses simple hands and feet, and though it may be armored decently, nothing about it seems to be associated with its magic. However, that couldn't be the furthest from the truth. This golem is adept at swimming, and though its speed will not increase when in the water, it can still easily carry twelve people both on land in the sea for the purpose of transportation (its own speed will not suffer any demerits when used this way as a result of moving slower than the listed speed).[break][break]Aside from it's proficiency with swimming being created as her only means of fighting against such enemies beyond flying at this point in time, every physical strike Fluss deals is infused with [Senior] levels of damage, and each blow it manages to land is heavy. This is because it uses the water mana to infuse each strike as though it is unleashing the pressure of the ocean depths in each strike. Of course, it does not actually do that -- one might draw that conclusion, especially as every strike from it creates a torrent of water to accelerate each strike and cause opponents to fly back equal to the appropriate knockback rules.
Having destroyed the golem that was coming up from behind him, dealing with the incoming fire attack and actually managing to overpower it and hit the fire golem that had initially sent the flames towards him in the first place. As it got struck, it got blown away quite a distance, which allowed Griswold to finally close the majority of the distance, which turned things a whole lot more dangerous for the both of them. After all, the closer he got to Verena, the more damage he could actually do as he could not just hide behind golems and rely on them to do all of the fighting. He had to get relatively close so he could dish out a bit of hurt either with his solar magic or his sword, none of which could really be done accurately or effectively from too great a distance, which was especially true when taking into account that Verena could just fly out of his reach.
With every step he took, the distance between the two of them got smaller and smaller, also making it easier for him to actually sense mana in a much more accurate sense. That said, he did not need to be a great sensor to tell that something was happening, that Verena was building up and utilizing a lot of her mana at once in order to cast some sort of spell. Figuring that this was the culminating moment that he had been waiting for, he had his sword ready for what might very well be the final bit to their fight. So when various golems were created of earth and wood and sent into his direction, the first thing he noticed was that he was physically faster, which allowed him a bit of an edge. In fact, it seemed like he was almost twice as fast as they were, a concept he had not exactly grown accustomed to as everyone he had ever fought up until this point was either just as fast as him or just a whole lot faster.
Not breaking his stride now that he had gotten so close to actually reaching his target, blades of solar energy formed over him, three in total, each firing at one of the nearest golems that had seemingly been sent only to stop him. Not knowing whether it would even help or not, the blades released a shining light that would blind all opponents within their range. As the nearest golems would be picked off by the solar blades, he used his own blade to slice into the larger wood golem standing behind the earthen ones he’d aim to hit with his solar swords spell. Relying on his speed to carry him through, as well as the difference in size, he’d aim to slice his sword through the waist area of the center of the three wood golems while more or less dashing right beside and getting past it. But as he’d do so, it would seem that another pair of golems had already been sent out.
These ones however, he had seen before, and he had seen enough of them to know what they could actually do. They were the same sound golems Verena had used when they had been purging the cursed forest, meaning they were capable of unleashing powerful blasts of sound magic. With the slower, larger golems he had just passed by that would not have perished to his attacks undoubtedly chasing after him the moment he made his way straight through the center, the only thing he had going for him now was just being faster, allowing him but a moment to see what the two sound golems were planning. Cleverly keeping them outside of the range of his earlier spell, he could not just hope to knock them out of the air and be done with it, which made things more and more annoying to deal with. As one remained outside of his range, it seemed that the other was actually being sent straight in, meeting him head on.
Doing so mere moments after he had moved past the other golems, he could not risk slowing down here so the others might be able to gang up on him along with this sound golem, not to mention that it would just give the other sound golem more time to look for the right spot from which to just go about blasting him while remaining clear. Realizing that the only proper way of dealing with this would be to keep pressing onward, the moment his blade would collide with and hopefully shatter the weaponized arm of the golem, two other things happened at roughly the same time. On Griswold’s side of the battle, his sword seemingly activated, releasing thorned roots that would shoot from the blade and aim to either restrain or destroy this particular sound golem, which would still leave the one that was maneuvering about at a distance. As this happened, on Verena’s side of the battlefield, yet another golem formed.
Taking the appearance of a multiple winged dragon, the fact that Griswold was no more than roughly twenty meters away from Verena and her new dragon golem made him weary. Weary of the other sound golem, weary of whatever the dragon might attempt to shoot at him, not to mention weary of the fact that the other golems would certainly pounce on him and attempt to beat him to a pulp if he showed even a moment of weakness. So before anything else could happen to further ruin his day, the moment the dragon had spawned was the moment Griswold released perhaps his most powerful large scale spell across the battlefield. It would only take it approximately three seconds to reach its total range of sixty meters, obliterating everything that would pop up in its path. And given the distance, there was a good chance that it would be upon her before she would even have the time to stop it.
Having done the math in his head from the very start of the battle in order to maximize the damage of this particular attack, he had come to the conclusion that he would need to be at thirty meters or less for the attack to reach a person within half a second, which was hardly enough time to set up another spell. In an attempt to pretty much clear out the entire battlefield of any threats and golems she might still have, he would not wait for a single moment to move forward after unleashing the blast. If things happened the way he had imagined them to, he would prefer to be close enough to her to make her yield by holding her at sword point, not being the kind of person that would want to overly harm someone while in a competition where they really only needed to show what they were capable of in terms of battle. As this was more or less all that he could do in terms of high end spells for someone his rank, he really did not have a lot left to show or prove.
For all he cared, the display of power and skills was hereby over, though that depended entirely on the spectating jury and on how long Verena wished to continue after this. If she had gotten hit however, she would have been blown quite the distance away from him and way closer to the walls of the coliseum, meaning he would need to run for quite a while before he’d actually get there.
TLDR: Griswold still moves forward, uses Intermediate spell to attack forward golems, uses sword to attack golem behind them. Sound golems maneuver around as one of them attack him. Uses sword in attempt to break the weaponized arm before the sword activates and attacks it with thorned branches. When light golem is summoned, Griswold uses senior spell in an attempt to blow the entire battlefield clear of enemies and tries to put an end to the fight.
POWER 119 DURABILITY 2 SENSORY 60 STAMINA 41 CONTROL 40 MANA 66 (-74 & +30)
Spell used: Name of Spell: Sunseeker | Moonseeker Elemental Type: Solar Rank & Spell Type: Intermediate | Attack Creation | Sensory Range & Speed: 40 meters | 20 m/s Mana Cost: 20 mana | 10 mp sustain Stats Effected: +4 Power Applicable Perks: “Overpowered” Description: Upon utilizing the spell, a short-sword is made out of solar magic + 1 additional sword for every 20 control as per the ammo rules. If not wielded, they will hover above the user. The short-sword are capable of dealing an Intermediate rank amount of damage. Instead of being wielded, they can also be controlled to fire at an enemy or be given to someone fighting alongside him, provided they stay within range of the caster. During the period of being wielded, a single one of the short-swords can emit a bright flash of light that can blind those looking at it according to the "blinding" rules. This blind can only be used once during the duration of the whole spell. During the day, the sword takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.
Name of Spell: Galactic Nucleus: Quasar Elemental Type: Solar Rank & Spell Type: Senior | Attack Creation Range & Speed: 40 meters (AoE) | 40 m/s Mana Cost: 30 mp | 15 mp sustain Stats Effected: +6 to Power Applicable Perks: “Overpowered” Description: A more powerful version of the solar(lunar)burst spell, Galactic Nucleus: Quasar is a burst spell that uses the caster as the epicenter by making their entire body radiate with light before the mana explodes in all directions, moving outward in a 40 meter radius. Initiating in exactly the same manner as Blazar, it allows for a surprise element towards those that are familiar with his spells. Crossing a distance in the blink of an eye, it deals a senior amount of solar damage while knocking those hit by it back for 8 meters + an additional 5 meters for every 10 power the user possesses. Using this spell scorches the earth and leaves somewhat of a crater of roughly five meters deep as the spell itself can destroy most non-magical constructs with ease, cause minor third degree burns and break bones, making a direct hit quite lethal. Using the “ammo” rules, the caster is capable of preventing allies of being hit by the burst. During the day, the spell takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.

Griswold was... strong. There was no denying that. But she wasn't going to give up. The young man managed to expertly handle the initial wave, and that was fine. These were intended to wear him down anyway. She watched as he used a combination of magic swords embedded with the solar element as well as the actual greatsword given to him to cut down the earth and wood golems.[break][break]
The elven-born took the fight to Sound golem next. Rather than choosing to engage in an actual fight, the man immediately chose to aim for the outreached arm, cutting it down. As he did so, thorns enveloped the sound skeleton, crushing it with a surprising amount of force. So that was the hidden ability of the weapon then? How terrifying. Getting caught by that would most certainly be a worst-case scenario for her. But she was pretty confident that it wouldn't be a factor against her; not right now, at least[break][break]
It didn't seem as though her other Sonia golem would actually get the order to fight given she wasn't able to take advantage of any distraction, however. Instead, the order given to that one became "Stay within range." She knew all too well that if Griswald could breakthrough, he would absolutely do so with an area of an effect-type spell and it was very possible that she would be sent flying; there was already an eighty-meter gap between her and her golem, after all.[break][break]
However, it was when he saw Flügel that he wasted no time. Verena realized that at that distance, there was nothing she could do. Even if she summoned Fluss now, it wouldn't fully manifest in time to take this hit. All she could do was try to hide behind Kikka as she braced for the impact.[break][break]
Nothing.[break][break]
There was nothing she could do to stop it.[break][break]
All of the knowledge, all of the strength, that she had managed to accumulate in this short year.[break][break]
...was it really all so meaningless in the end?[break][break]
The blast hit her golem, as well as every other golem besides Sonia, who was still out of the spell's range. Every single one, destroyed. She was sent flying off her golem, crashing and tumbling almost seventy meters away as she let out a scream upon contact. Her golem made sure to stay within the maximum possible range; though precision was possible in theory, in execution she wouldn't have had enough time to finish the thought before she was blasted.[break][break]
Due to Verena's excellent control and rich amount of mana, her mana skin had been able to protect her from any serious damage, especially when combined with the fact her golem had taken the worst of it. But that did not mean it could protect her from everything. A spell of this magnitude was still capable of serious damage. Her own coat was not fire-resistant; it might have been well insulated, but the force alone was enough to cause various tears and rips into it. And that also meant her own clothing underneath, thin as it was, never had much of a chance, either.[break][break]
Though she laid there for just a moment, an eternity seemed to pass in her mind. The future so clearly displayed before her. Her family cast aside, stripped of what little nobility they might have had left. Neither Noble nor Commoner. They had been unable to offer anyone anything. But they could have. They had accomplished nothing. But they could have. And on their current path, there was nothing that remained in their future. Verena did not act out of a sense of arrogance; she knew her family. She knew the only possible outcome that remained for them.[break][break]
and dying before she could fix anything was...[break][break]
"Summoner Creation Magic: Phaunus," the woman declared once more, while ordering Sonia to be within 60 meters of the elf, though clearly still too far away to cause him any worry.[break][break]
It wouldn't fix anything. The six wooden golems would accomplish nothing. A similar side-by-side formation was used as she sent them all towards Griswold, their order to attack him while ensuring he couldn't see her. Meanwhile, Verena slowly stood back up to her feet as she twisted the ring on her left ring finger. The very one given to her by Hania.[break][break]
She had figured out that it possessed magical properties a while ago, and it seemed to resonate with each twist. Rotating it completely seemed to unlock its potential. Mist covered her body, and though it should have felt cold, it did not. As the spell began to take effect, Verena quickly stood back up, knowing full well Griswold would have finished with the golems any moment now.[break][break]
And so, she racedtowards him. Her own movement now surpassed his own, even if not by much. It would take two seconds for them to meet. The woman was moving at twelve meters a second, and it caused her a great deal of pain, but for the past six years of her life, that was all she had really known.[break][break]
A pain that was now on partial display. Her stomach and part of her chest were exposed, showcasing the gruesome curse mark that had been inflicted on her. It would be difficult to see from the spectator's seats, but Griswold would clearly be able to see the outline of the woman's own internal body. Her stomach and lungs all appeared to be ... shrinking. No, that wasn't quite correct.[break][break]
the internal state of her body was quite literally decaying, and these markings were clearly showing it in real-time. When she took a breath, this curse exposed her lungs shrinking and expanding accordingly.[break][break]
Once she was close enough, though far enough away from his sword, Verena called Fluss out. As part of its summon, its order was simply to "swing".[break][break]
And that was what it did. It aimed to collide with a, hopefully, shocked Griswold. If it did, its massive arm would meet Griswold before he could mount an offense in a close-range fight with Verena. She had given herself enough time to make the order and for its summon, while still being out of his greatsword's range.[break][break]
If Griswold was hit, by the time he was within twenty meters of Sonia, Verena screamed in a fit of desperation -- to herself, more than anyone. One last command. But one that would ultimately end up with her having nothing more to give.[break][break]
"Sing."[break][break]
That single command. A powerful, albeit painful, cry echoed throughout the arena, but none would be receiving it more painfully than Griswold. Or at least, that was the thought.[break][break]
It never reached him. Before the mana could fully be realized as he drew in close, Verena collapsed. Having depleted her mana so drastically for this last move, the attack, as well as all of her golems, dispersed as she fell onto her side, exhausted from overspending her mana. Too much was spent over such a short period of time.[break][break]
If she were conscious, she doubted anyone would have realized why. There was truly no reason to go to this extreme. She knew that as well as anyone else. To force herself to that extent. The simple reality was that Griswold's attack had managed to amplify the pain she felt from the burn, burning her face.[break][break]
Because of this injury, her curse had amplified in its potency. Combined with the pain she felt from the attack, as well as the increased pain from her own curse, Verena needed to push herself to such an extreme where she wouldn't have been able to think about it. Passing out like this was much preferable to cowering in pain because of her curse.[break][break]
She refused to go out like that.[break][break]
But as she closed her eyes, the light of day slowly fading from pushing her body too far, she did have one regret.[break][break]
she couldn't hide the extent of her curse any longer. Hopefully, nobody would tell Suna...
verena loses all of her golems and goes flying back. the damage she sustains tears through her coat and clothing, exposing her curse to everyone in the rke. in what appears to be a last ditch effort, verena uses the item given to her by hania to boost her speed, and relying on phaunus golems to hide herself while she lays down. gris can still sense her mana, so he'd know she's not moving at first. after he gets past the golems, verena charges at meets him head on, moving at 12m/s due to the ring. before she can get into range of his blade, she uses fluss since he didn't appear last time, aiming to effectively clotheline the boi with enough force to send him back to sonia, lying in wait to hit him with a ranged attack. but she depletes her mana and here we are.[break][break]
griswold's interruption prevented both flugel and fluss from showing up, thus causing her to start with 95 mana.[break][break]
In the wake of his own spell, it seemed that the vast majority of the golems around him had either been vanquished or blown clear far enough for him to get to Verena in an attempt at landing a blow that would secure his victory, he would have much preferred pushing her into a position where she would surrender. Not being the kind of guy that enjoyed having to rough someone up when they weren’t established as enemies, he also did not want to use any more spells against her than he already had. Hopefully, the blow she took that had blown away the golem she had been riding on would have been enough to dissuade her from getting up and yielding. Brushing a bit of dush off of his clothes from the aftermath of the eruption however, he could tell that yielding was not in the cards for today. Too bad really, because there was likely not a whole lot that could be brought about through means of further struggle.
Noticing a fine mist around his opponent, Griswold narrowed his eyes as if trying to look more closely, though he clearly did not have that kind of zooming function. Given how he had seen the use of protective walls shooting restraints in the form of chains, the creation of golems using various elemental natures and now this misty looking thing, it made him wonder exactly what else she might have in store for him. Scraping his throat and spitting on the floor in front of him, he raised the tip of his blade off of the ground as the thorns withdrew back into it crystalline materials it had been made out of. Thanks to this fight, if nothing else, he had at least managed to learn exactly what Hania meant when he shared the cryptic message to him saying the sword had “world tree in it”. Still not being entirely sure as to how he had made it come out in the first place, he was still glad that it had this ability in case he was to ever truly need it. And with that, he continued his approach.
Not long after the surge of what seemed like mist had appeared did Verena find her second wind, or so he thought. Rushing straight at him at a speed that was above his own, he rose up his blade in preparation, intending to hit her as hard as he could with the flat, blunt portion of the blade in an attempt to knock her out as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Believing this to be the more kind approach to this situation, and because he did not want to risk maiming a magic knight that worked hard to protect more than just the nobles within the realms, he was caught off guard by the sheer speed at which she managed to call one of her golems into the world. That, and he noticed something as she got close that could not possibly be healthy with regards to her internal organs. Whatever it was, it made him think that even striking her with the blunt edge of his sword might be enough to hospitalize her, and that she probably should not even be here to begin with.
Freezing up just long enough over this strange and complicating sight, made worse by the sudden appearance of a really tall golem, he did not have the time to stop it from lashing out at him. Shifting one of his arms to somewhere halfway along the blade, he dropped his elbow a bit so he could capture most of the golems arm along the same blunt edge that he wanted to knock his opponent out with, using it as a shield to contain the initial force of the strike. However, due to the sheer size of the being, this just resulted in him dampening the strike while slamming the blunt portion of the blade into himself while the remainder of the force knocked him off of his feet and sent him flying. Due to the blunt force trauma of the blow, it felt to him as if he had sustained a concussion, even though his head was one of the few portions of his body that hadn’t exactly been struck by either the arm or his own blade. So as he was sent flying, his sword still held by at least one hand, he sensed one of the remaining golems making their move.
It was one of the sound golems that had been steering clear of his larger scale attack range, preparing to fire one of their sonic boom attacks at him, he just knew it. In spite of being knocked prone, he could have attempted to fire a ray of solar mana directly from his body towards it in an attempt at blowing it away. But even though he could attempt it, there was no way that he was going to strike it before it struck him, which would still mean that he would be rid of it. Beginning to glow as he momentarily charged up, he fully intended on tanking the blow with his body as there was no way for him to evade it. But before an actual attack came, the golem disappeared. Giving him enough time to break off his own attack, swing his feet about and use that moment to drive his blade straight into the ground. Breaking off his flight by using his sword as an anchor, the emerald blade carved through roughly two and a half meters of flooring before Griswold managed to put his feet back on the ground.
Turning around to see that Verena had collapsed, he could only imagine that this had happened because of whatever it was that he had seen going on with her organs acting all strange. That, mixed with likely overexerting herself by summoning so many different kinds of golems in at the same time might have been what did her in too, though he couldn’t exactly be sure. He was no doctor, nor did he really know a whole lot about healing magic aside from the incredibly basic spell he possessed. With this fight being closely monitored by at least three captain level magic knights, as well as some other spectators here or there, he imagined that at least someone would have noticed and might come in to aid the woman. But just in case they hadn’t yet, and believed the fight was still going, he pointed one arm towards the spectator seats before firing a bolt of fire that would erupt in a mass of flame while up in the air. If that wouldn’t draw their attention, he didn’t know what would.
All he knew was that at this point, the fight was over, and that Verena needed someone that could actually help her, and that person unfortunately wasn’t him.
POWER 119 DURABILITY 2 SENSORY 60 STAMINA 41 CONTROL 40 MANA 76 (-20 & +30)
Spell used: Name of Spell: Solar flare | Lunar swirl Elemental Type: Solar Rank & Spell Type: Intermediate – Attack Creation Range & Speed: 40 meters (20m AoE) | 20 m/s (AoE does not extend out of Max rank range) Mana Cost: 20 mp | 10 mp sustain Stats Effected: +4 to Power Applicable Perks: “Overpowered” Description: A spell that was not so much designed to be used in one on one combat, but rather to limit the amount of terrain advantages one might have over the user. By compressing and firing a small bolt of sun(moon)fire similar in appearance to “Sun(Moon)bolt”, this spell either travels its given distance or collides with a solid surface, causing it to erupt in a burst of flame. As it sets flammable terrain, objects and living beings on fire, it can quickly turn a building used by someone to hide or hole up in from a safe haven into a furnace one will want to quickly escape. For every 20 control, the user is capable of firing an additional sphere in the same salvo, thus following the "ammo" rules. During the day, the spell takes on an orange hue, taking on a silver blue hue after dark.
