NOAH
"Speech" THOUGHTS TAG Noah WORDS count 2073 WORDS COUNT TOTAL 2073 | Noah was just casually having a lunch at one of Rague´s many restaurants. He ordered some steamed vegetables, and while the food looked quite bland, he seemed to enjoy it very much. There were a lot of people present, which he tried to ignore but the sounds they were making was making this task way more difficult than it should have been. After checking out the people present in the restaurant, which basically turned into a pub as the evening was approaching, he realized that he knew some of the people. Or at least the most vocal group – it was those pirates he encountered earlier, when he signed up for a fishing competition earlier. Having a brief moment of flashback on the fish slander he participated in, he got a little nauseous at first. Trying to enjoy his meal, he just shook off the feeling and tried to ignore them as much as possible. They were obviously drunk, as if they were celebrating something. This lifestyle of a pirate crew was rather unknown to young mage, but from what he saw so far, he could tell that there was no way he would ever enjoy it. Noah tried to finish his food as fast as possible, avoiding any unwanted eye contact with those, who were his “crew” for a brief moment. His original plan on writing something into his notes after eating food disappeared, and he decided that the best thing he could do now was to get away and find some calm place where he will be able to focus. This was the thing he really disliked about Rague itself, it was lively at all times with people swarming everywhere, and finding a peaceful place to have a moment was basically an impossible task. After paying for the food he ordered, he approached the doors while passing the cheery crew of pirates who apparently seemed to not care about him. He wasn’t sure if they don’t remember him anymore, or if they are just that drunk. Either way it was a win – win and he was happy to dodge any awkward conversation he might have encountered. After finally leaving the door of the establishment, it was dark already. This caught him by surprise, because he lost a track of time. Another surprise was a very well lit woman figure, that stood right in front of the door, as if she was waiting for him to come out. “Uh – oh.” He said almost instantly, as he saw who the figure was. It was the captain of The Fury of the Depths. The woman was dressed in a red uniform, or at least it seemed like a uniform, he couldn’t really tell. Her green eyes were directly set onto Noah, and it made him a little bit uncomfortable. “Hey snowflake.” She smiled like a hungry wolf and Noah got just more concerned. What was she planning to do, and also why did she call him a snowflake? Was it because he was so pale? Something told him that wasn’t the case, so he just tried to force smile as much as he could, but it was obvious he wasn’t exactly happy to see her. “Oh, captain, hello, what are you doing here?” He asked, even though he wasn’t interested in the answer. Verona wasted no time and continued. “You know, you have potential…” She stopped for a brief moment, as she looked up to the sky which was now full of stars. “The way you caught that fish, I think you would make a fine pirate.” She continued and Noah didn’t like the way this was going. How could he refuse her offer without making her more aggressive she already was? “Thank you for the compliment, mistress de la Rouge, but I don’t think that being a pirate and catching fishes is not exactly what I see myself doing in the future.” This was not the best this he could say, Verona was already preparing her fist as if she was preparing to hit him, this made her angry. “You really think that being a pirate means catching the fishes?!?” She aggressively pointed out. “You know nothing! There is so much more, my crew joined the competition just to get some money to help us sustain the ship. If you want to know what the TRUE pirates do, come tomorrow early morning to the docks, I will show you what is the true life of a pirate.” Noah wanted to refuse as fast as possible, because he really wasn’t interested in finding out what the true life of pirate was, but there was no time. “Don’t be late or you will see! Be there by the down.” This was last thing she said before disappearing into fog. This made Noah recall that the fog was probably her magic, because she used it during competition. He was a little annoyed that she basically left him no choice but to come. Sure he could just not arrive, but he was genuinely scared of her. “Oh great, what did I just get myself into…” He was a little disappointed by his lack of courage but whatever, not like he had a training to do, and Magic Knights squad to join into. He would just agree with himself, and head out to the place he was renting for his stay in the city. Night went out rather calm, his feelings were mixed as he tried to fall asleep. He really hated waking up so early, and going straight into the unstable sea wasn’t exactly helping either. Managing to fall asleep rather early, Noah woke up energized. By no means he was excited to leave for a sail on the sea, but he didn’t think of it as tragic as he did the night before. Young mage quickly packed all his things he would probably need and he already made peace with the fact that everything he brings will end up wet. Sun was slowly rising up as he was walking through the empty streets, breathing the fresh morning breeze which was enhanced by the salt from the ocean. This was pleasant experience. “You came!” Verona was waiting on the ship, apparently not for Noah himself because she herself was surprised. Noah just looked really annoyed. “Not like you gave me choice, you disappeared.” He wasn’t hiding his annoyance anymore, as it was still early morning and it looked like he really didn’t have to come. She just gestured her hands, showing him to come aboard, which after a brief moment of reluctance he did. She then spoke very little, she was mostly checking the ship and commenting accordingly. “So, before any ship sails, you have to check several things. Most obvious is you don’t want any leaks, check the underground level of the ship itself if everything is okay. Make sure there are as little molds as possible as you don’t need the wood to just destroy itself out on the sea with no possibility of repairing itself.” Noah couldn’t recognize the woman before him, she was suddenly very focused, and spoke so clear. It was probably her passion speaking, making Noah feel more sympathetic for her. He wasn’t sure why she was telling him all this but he decided to play along and nod to everything she said. “The state of supplies, make sure you have all the food and water stored in a safe place where there is no possibility of leaking the water. Believe me eating a wet bread is not something you want to do.” Young mages face was full of disgust as he instantly imagined it. After explaining everything in the underground level, they went up to the open space, she then continued. “Before you leave you always make sure the anchors are back, there need to be nets prepared at all time. The Fury has four separate cannons, which might not seem as much but they need to be kept clean at all times, so in the case of attack or defense they are ready to perform and smash our enemies.” She then took out the cannon ball that was kept under one of the cannon. “Be careful and make sure they don’t move too much, they are still filled with gun powder and you don’t want them to destroy our ship.” He wasn’t sure why she was telling him all this, but she also sounded reasonable, which he liked. Verona took him to different areas of the ground level, showing him how to straighten a flag, how to use the wind in order to gain the speed, showed him the spectators booth that was on the very tip of the flagpole. That was the moment Noah was ready to puke as he hated the heights and the wiggling of the boat didn’t help either. This was their last stop before she would take him to the captain cabin. “Very well, now listen you little brat. You should feel lucky I am showing you this, because not many people get to be in the captain´s cabin.” She said this harshly, in front of the doors. Noah was still recovering from his stomach ache, but he just nodded as if he had just completely given up to the situation and just went with it. The captains room was actually really small, it had a great view on the whole area of ship as well as the sea that was now covering almost the whole view. It was a perfect control room that made him feel really powerful. He could see the whole crew, what they were doing as well as anything that might have been potentially dangerous on the sea. The centerpiece of the room was a giant wooden circle rapidly rotating itself. Noah already understood this was a steering wheel, and she understood that so she skipped that part. “You have to realize, as a captain you don’t drive the ship, that’s what the crew, wind and sea does. Your job is to navigate it and avoid anything that might be potentially dangerous.” This was the moment her eyes sparked, as she saw a small storm approaching. “It´s simple, left means left and right is right. Here try it, it’s a little test.” She smiled as she disappeared again in the mist, but this time it was pretty obvious and Noah got little angry. “She really needs to stop doing this.” He sighted and attempted to operate the steering wheel. He wasn’t surprised by the fact that the force it was applying was actually really heavy and his first attempt ended him on the ground. Meanwhile, there were storms gathering and it was making the sea little furious. Noah got instantly worried and hateful towards Verona, why would she do this to him? Did she really have the faith? Young mage certainly had no faith in himself driving the ship. He then attempted to operate the wheel once again, but this time he was using a bit of his mana, in order to apply his gravity magic to his force. This allowed him to operate the wheel more efficiently, being able to at least rotate it. Instructions being very vague, he was just looking at the sea. They were currently in the storm, that was rather weak. What was worrying him was the fact that it looked like they were heading towards a bigger storm and that could have been a problem. His goal was to make the ship turn right, and possibly avoid the bigger storm. The waves weren’t making this easier, as he found himself jumping from all the movement the ship made on furious sea. Thanks to his gravity magic, he could operate the wheel quite efficiently, or at least he thought so. He was just focusing to turn it right and make this ship do its thing. It was probably working as he felt the movement got more under control. It didn’t take long until Verona appeared right beside him and pushed him from the wheel. “Good job snowflake. Not perfect but you actually managed to avoid a huge storm. You have some potential.” Noah, not liking her approach and attitude was just frowning upon her, with his hands crossed. “Great, what´s next? Will you throw me into sea now and expect me to catch a shark?” He asked ironically, she smiled and just added. “Maybe I will.” [exit] x |
