Two years had passed since her initial visit with Cyrus Elwood. Not once had she taken him up on his offer to visit. So much in her life had changed since then. She had participated in the Kikka Reclamation Effort. She had become a Royal Knight. She had become a Magic Knight. There was her training with Satori to reach a higher level and her training with Lydia took her to even further heights.[break][break]
To her credit, she had been quite busy as a result. It wasn't as if she didn't want to visit him. But she knew it was long overdue. Cyrus wasn't always at the base from what she could tell, but she had made sure to check with him to see if his offer was still available, setting up an appropriate date. After all, the two were Royal Knights before they were Magic Knights.[break][break]
The training that both had to endure for preparation against the daemons was very serious, and so Verena wanted to plan around it. Thankfully, Carrion wasn't exactly too far from the Forsaken Region, and with her Light Golems, the brunette didn't need to worry about things being too slow and was able to make it in time with minimal breaks for rest.[break][break]
It wasn't too long before the Elwood family estate was coming into view. It was surprisingly well hidden. Any normal Noble Family wouldn't bother hiding their estate; they wanted to proclaim their status to the world and for all to see their wealth. An estate to many nobles was something akin to bragging rights. "Bigger is better", she supposed was the logic of this stupid game.[break][break]
However, the Elwood estate was anything but. Not only was it in the Forsaken Region, but it was also hidden under the shadow of a cliff deep out in an area where the Magic Knights were far away. There were a few reasons, she supposed, that would give someone the idea to want to build out here, but it wasn't her place to bring that up.[break][break]
Verena was wearing her coat with her Golden Dawn mantle over it. The truth of the matter was that she was elated that Zaven had actually chosen her amongst the candidates. Though she might have come a long way and had managed to become a Royal Knight, she still didn't feel she was as strong as others were. The Golden Dawn was for the elite of the elite. She wore this mantle with pride.[break][break]
Her hair, however, was braided up neatly into a single ponytail, like she had worn at the Golden Dawn's little gettogether for the new recruits -- herself included. Though she didn't have those beads in her hair, nor did she wear the same dress she had worn underneath her coat, the brunette still made sure her appearance was nothing short of proper before she had shown up, and as she was landing now, she was surprised to see the estate in its current condition.[break][break]
It wasn't in a state of disrepair, but it was in worse shape than her family's own estate. It was as if whoever was the groundskeeper was just using makeshift methods to keep it afloat. It wasn't like the family was on hard times; if they truly wanted, they could repair it. So then, was it out of a preference for secrecy? It was hard to say, she didn't know too much about the Elwood family.[break][break]
While she did read up on them after meeting Cyrus, she hadn't devoted much time to learn their history. Instead, she studied up on what they were known for currently. It wasn't out of a lack of care, however. Her priorities were always first and foremost on her curse. A book just to satiate curiosity, rather than an in-depth study of the family.[break][break]
Dismounting from her golem, the Reinsberg heiress arrived at the gate, presumably encountering a guard of some sort. If she did, she explained the reason for her visit: a meeting with Cyrus. Assuming that was all she needed to advance, the guard allowed her entry into the estate. The brunette paused once she arrived at the door, hesitant. She felt bad delaying this as long as she had... even still, she knocked upon the entrance to the Elwood estate.
