[attr="class","shadowsHead"] For Whom the Bell Tolls
The sound of a bell being rung over the area of the Magic coliseum is heard...the earth has begun to shake and the heavens weep as an avatar of Aamon, the archdaemon has arrived. Looking around the coliseum he lets out a booming, heavy laugh as two others join him, one at each side as he points in the direction of the Royal Capital first and directs his right hand...child to spread the word. His other child was left to wander and gather the souls of the best fighters around for a tournament...a...Mortal Combat if you will.[break]
As the two leave to do their master’s bidding the grand coliseum becomes a place of inhospitable land. Yet no creatures leave it...no harm to the humans that inhabit the area around it. The right hand found its way to Balgon Prison first. Here it tolled the bell once more, six loud tolls before the outer walls of the prison began to crack. Then a booming voice could fill the heads of all those within the area. ” MORTALS THE GOD OF THE BATTLE HARDENED REQUIRES NEW BLOOD TO FUEL HIS CONQUEST OF THE WORLD I BESEECH YOU ALL TO FIGHT EACH OTHER…AND YOUR CAPTORS FOR YOUR CHANCE AT FREEDOM!”[break]
After the announcement, there was a quiet moment...before chaos ensued and the once secure prison became a battleground. The right hand just smiled and retrieved 4 cards and threw them down into the prison as a hostile aura surrounded the area.

[break]Magic Element and Types: Fire | Attack | Restraint | Defense | Golem
[break]Combat Style: Commander Rook will attempt to first restrain his opponents before outright slaughter with attacks or with golems while also defending himself.
[break]Additional Information: Commander Rook is a retired Magic Knight of the Crimson Lions that carries a large scar across his forehead. He is currently the host of the Card “Knight of the Fallen” and will only be found in the center of the prison...burning the inmates that are rioting.
For as much as he loathed having to come to the royal capital, or the noble region in general, there was no denying that he had been popping up there a bit more frequently in recent times. Perhaps it was because of the fact that he had become a magic knight again, or maybe it was because he was growing as a person. Hell, it was likely the former, seeing as he still hated being there just as much as he did before. Were it not for the fact that he was escorting a particularly vile criminal to Balgon prison, he would not have even considered coming here. In truth, the reason he was even here was for a far more personal than just dropping off a criminal, as that was something any magic knight could do now that the guy was in chains. Several months ago, Griswold had killed a criminal he was supposed to capture alive and bring to this very building.
Upon hearing how many the man had murdered in the worst way possible, which included both civilians and even a couple of junior magic knights, he had determined for himself that this was not the kind of person that was up for reform. Delivering him to a jail cell would just have given him more time to think about better ways to avoid capture and refine his means of torture in the future, and that was not something Griswold wished to be a part of, nor contribute to. As such, he had decided to kill the guy after a lengthy battle, reducing him to ash and kicking the remains into the sea. This had unfortunately led up to the Crimson lions, as well as himself receiving several black stars. By turning this particular criminal he had caught up in the forsaken region and turning him in at the prison that was under the care of the Crimson lions, he hoped to fix some of that damage and trust.
Even if it wouldn’t, it would at least allow him to forget about the whole encounter by doing the “right thing”. But as he ventured into the facility, it seemed that there was something off about the place. Not because he heard something weird from inside, but due to the exact opposite reason: it was eerily quiet, which was not at all normal for a place that was filled with the worst of the worst criminals this land had to offer. Having the gate opened for him, both he and the criminal entered into the prison, walking on further and further into the place where he could see a strange someone hovering over the yard. And that was when he heard a booming voice originating from the peculiar being as it bounded back and forth like an echo, resounding throughout the entire prison as if the intention was for every person inside of it to hear what was being said.
“MORTALS! THE GOD OF THE BATTLE HARDENED REQUIRES NEW BLOOD TO FUEL HIS CONQUEST OF THE WORLD! I BESEECH YOU ALL TO FIGHT EACH OTHER…AND YOUR CAPTORS FOR YOUR CHANCE AT FREEDOM!”
Once these words had been spoken, four strange lights moved from the being as it itself disappeared, the lights heading into the yard and attaching themselves to some of the walls before fading. Feeling a sudden urge to kill, especially the criminal that was with him, he shrugged it off, putting it into the back of his head for the time being. Unfortunately, it seemed that the same sensation had fallen over the criminal he was escorting too, as well as the guards and the convicted criminals in the yard below. Turning the place into an all out brawl, it became very clear very early on by people ripping out the eyes and throats of others in a feral frenzy that there was nothing friendly about it. So as the bound criminal came at him, trying to bite him like a rabid dog due to his hands being bound, Griswold quickly knocked him out before attaching the chains to the metal framework behind him.
Knowing that there was no time to waste seeing as guards and convicts were actively in the process of killing one another, he leaped down into the yard from his elevated position in an attempt at breaking up the fights. Limiting the use of his magic so as to not kill anyone that did not need to be killed, especially since so much bloodshed was already taking place, Griswold fired several projectiles at the same time. Blowing apart on contact, they released a bright light that blinded and confused onlookers as those hit were blown away from one another as a means of de-escalating the situation. One thing was certain, those he hit were not going to be getting back up any time soon, though there was something peculiar about the lights he had seen coming down earlier. For as difficult as it was to go around multitasking in a situation such as this, as well as keeping his own urge to let loose and kill some of these criminals, he noticed that the lights had left something behind.
Noticing an odd piece of paper attached to the wall, it seemed to glow whenever a fatal blow was struck within the yard, or anywhere else within the building, even if the latter was merely something he pieced together as he could not see beyond this place. Not sure whether these things were the catalyst to all that was happening, the solar mage imagined it was better to get rid of them where he could. So as he fired another shot of solar mana towards it, causing it to quickly burn up while temporarily distracting another couple of fighters in the process. While the situation was far from ideal, he had to do whatever he could to not only see to the safety of those within the building, as well as getting rid of these tags that may or may not have been the cause to everyone devolving into raging neanderthals.

[attr="class","florencetext"] It wasn't common for Lydia to visit the royal capital anymore. It wasn't because she disliked the place or anything like that. The former vice-captain simply wasn't a crimson lion anymore. As she had joined the azure deer after being less than happy with the turnout of magic knights. There was of course more than a few people who didn't understand why Lydia would leave a squad where she already held the spot of vice-captain to join another squad and start at the bottom. Then again most people didn't understand how the light mage thought. She favored the more logical side of thinking. [break][break] While most people she met favored emotional thinking. However, her goal for switching to the Azure Deer was simply. She was going to take over as captain to ensure at least one squad was competent. As for why Lydia was in the royal capital it was once again simple. She'd been asked to help escort a criminal who was quite skilled at escaping after being captured. While it wasn't common for Lydia to get missions like this it still happened and so there she was inside Balgon Prison. Everything had been going smoothly so far other than the fact it was quieter than normal. [break][break] That was when all hell broke loose. The pink-haired mage sensed the deamon before it spoke. While it shouldn't have been possible for one to be at Balgon's Prison she had learned a lot of things that shouldn't have been possible was possible when it came to deamon's. She of course heard it speak and while Lydia didn't know exactly what it meant she knew it was nothing good. It didn't take long for this to be shown as true as she was able to hear fighting breaking out all over the place. What looked to be like a card would land on the wall about thirty meters away from her. While she wanted to check it out before going to deal with the deamon she didn't get the chance to. [break][break] Both the prisoners and two guards with her seemed to not be able to overcome the blood lust she was currently blocking out. The prisoner would be the first one to try and attack the light mage with a headbutt however she would easily dodge the attack before countering with a full force kick to his leg followed by a loud crack as it broke. She would then follow up with her headbutt knocking the man out cold. [break][break] By now both of the guards would have their grimoires our and tried to attack Lydia one shooting earth spikes at her while the other tried to shoot a jet of water at the pink-haired mage. The head of the Ravencrest family would waste no time casting her own spell. Light Magic: Caladbolg As the sword of light appeared in Lydia's hand she would easily cut past the two spells. She would then rush forward reaching the earth mage first bring a knee into his gut before hitting him in the back of the neck with the flat of the sword knocking him out. The water mage would try and shoot another spell at Lydia. However, just like the first one, she would cut past it hitting the mage in the side with the flat of her blade before finishing him off with a headbutt. After finishing off the last guard the pink-haired mage would make her way over to the card. [break][break] While she couldn't tell what it meant as it seemed to be absorbing something every time someone's mana vanished she had a feeling it wasn't good. So she'd simply destroy it with her sword. While she still wanted to head towards the deamon the cards were a big threat at the moment. She would of course sense another one get destroyed while picking up a familar mana presence one that belongs to Griswold. She would once again cast another spell to get in touch with the other royal knight. Light Magic: Nuntius Deorum After a few moments Griswold would notice a halo appear over his head before hearing Lydia speak in his mind. Griswold it's Lydia. [break][break] As I'm sure you've noticed everything is a shit show right now. I think it has to deal with the cards we just got rid of. There is another one close by to you about twenty meters to the west. I'm currently heading towards the furthest one from you. Once we both take care of ours let's meet back up in the middle of the prison. Lydia would then waste no time making her way towards her second card while leaving the communication spell active to keep in touch with Griswold if needed.

With the few inmates and guards he had managed to take out, he noticed one of the strange notes that he had not managed to grab onto start to glow before dashing up into the air as a ball of light and just disappear. When Lydia seemed to appear at the scene not much later, it made him wonder if that tag had managed to do what it had been sent there for or if she was responsible for destroying it. To say that this whole thing was rather stressful was quite the understatement, as he had to be quite careful about the spells he could actually use and which he could not. Due to the nature of his magic, it was quite easy to reduce most buildings to crumbling ruins since he could choose not to hurt specific individuals, though he could not choose to skip over his surroundings when he unleashed his solar mana. That was simply not how it worked.
Besides, these people were all under the effects of some kind of rage inducing spell, as it was something even he could feel to a lesser degree. Wondering whether it might have affected individuals with less mana on a grander scale or not was something that made sense to him, though it was for obvious reasons not something he could take his time with to figure out. People were actively trying to kill one another, and based on what he could sense going on around him, there was still one of the tags left in the building. Not quite sure as to how many people were left that were affected by whatever was going on here, one thing he knew for sure was that they needed to get rid of the last card, as well as the somewhat larger mana presence on the upper levels. That at least seemed like something that needed to be taken care of sooner rather than later.
When a peculiar halo of light appeared over his head, the first thing he thought of was that perhaps the magic from the cards was starting to affect him too, just in a different manner. Hoping that would not be the case, he then heard Lydia speaking to him in an unconventional way. Hearing her speaking in his head about the things she encountered, she said that she was going to be taking care of the furthest card, which coincidentally was also the last of the cards that yet remained after the third, or fourth depending on how you wanted to look at it, had already disappeared. Knowing that she was more than capable of handling a card, Griswold himself decided to take care of another issue altogether, the one located above them. Not quite sure how this spell worked, whether he could talk to Lydia by thinking it or if he had to actually say the words, he figured he’d just try both and see which of the two managed to get through to her as he got a move on.
“That’s fine. While you handle that, I’m going to the upper levels to see how the remaining guards are holding up, which would only leave the inmates on the lower levels. Once they’ve been taken care of, I imagine this place might be able to return to some manner of normalcy.”
Making his way up as fast as he could, which was by all means quite fast, he merely followed the path laid in front of him based off of his sensory skills. Following the somewhat larger amount of mana and leaving the prison section with the cells behind, he could tell by all the blood along the floor and walls that there was still quite a bit of carnage going without there being any actual prisoners around. From the look of things, it seemed like the guardsmen up here had been bashing one anothers’ heads in, and that there was still fighting going on up ahead. Once this got into visual range, Griswold could clearly see that there were several men fighting one another in what seemed to be an office. Not caring a whole lot for the office itself, his current goal was to break up the fighting, which he did by shaping and shooting a blast of solar mana into the center of the room and blowing it up.
The resulting blast was enough to knock the men out cold, rather than killing them, which was exactly the point. Given how hard they fought, it was easy to forget that these were not men that would ordinarily be trying to kill him. But with the remainder of the guards and their commander now stretched out along the floor, Griswold figured he should start making his way back down as Lydia most likely had taken out what remained of the inmates by now. Hopefully, she would have taken the tag out first, because he was not exactly looking forward to figuring out what it was this guy was doing with them.
