Getting up of a morning was no easy task for the snazziest Silver Eagle, it was an arduous task that included getting dressed and eating breakfast, the hardest part was brushing her teeth.
Having a glass of orange juice was not a good idea Nix concluded.
After getting ready for the day, she put on her snazzy crown and left her house via the holiest of pokies through the front door, slamming it behind her to let everyone know she was leaving.
Upon her arrival the archivist was as busy as usual, stamping and writing letters to various important people as per usual.
She favoured him with a snazzy look and proceeded to accept another junior mission.
Some poor people had been stuck in the forsaken region for quite some time because of the weather, Nix could not believe how unfortunately unsnazzy that situation presented itself to be.
They had called for help via communication Magic, a sort of magic that Nix was not very prevalently aware of but she believed the information nonetheless.
Dis-embarking untoward the forsaken region in the post haste fashion she was accustomed to, Nix made an incredible amount of distance before the sun had fallen.
The warm lights of the people lighting candles in the distance calmed Nix’s anxiety, the dimming of the light was bleeding out its last repose and she held her own lantern in her small tender hands.
Making her way through the dusk of a land that was unforgiving was truely difficult and Nix would demand upon her return a slight pay rise for new shoes.
Enough walking to get her to the cold areas in the mountains, following the road was becoming difficult.
Nix was keeping herself on her feet when she heard a lone howling in the distance, Nix returned the call unwary of the animals who were probably just as scared as herself.
Eventually Nix stumbled, holding tightly to her lantern when she fell into a clearing that was occupied by the people she was looking for.
How fortunate, she thought to herself as she offered her assistance, they explained their situation.
“There are wolves and we’ve been trapped up in this storm for quite some time.”
He proceeded to outline his problems, one after the other, “Our resources and supplies were dwindling.”
Nix had thought they were the same thing, they weren’t as it turned out.
Frustration was boiling her blood, the people had overlooked one especially snazzy detail in their distress.
Now Nix was with them and they didn’t have to worry anymore.
They calmed down eventually when Nix returned with one wolf with a rather large bump on its head and singe marks on its fur.
She had used a few snazzy moves on it that led it to call it's friends.
Nix avoided these by running away and returning to the campsite of the people who were lost.
Fighting the wolves was certainly an option, but after kicking the absolute hell out of one of them, the others were more wary as a result.
Nix seethed with rage and anger as wisps of strawberry coloured fire vividly billowed out of her face.
She snorted out an aura of flame that warmed those around her.
When the wolves tried to attack as a group, their pack was weakened by one, their tactics almost non-existent.
The lost people yelled and carried on like a bunch of chooks without their heads.
Only a select few of them pulling themselves together and rallying up some sort of defence by offensive measures.
Picking up stray tools or tree branches, some of them even threw rocks and all of them were relatively safe.
Being that they were at least average human beings, they had a survival instinct, and Nix respected this.
She grabbed one of the wolves by the jaw and snapped it, rather than watching she routinely checked her surroundings with an eerie aloof attitude.
Smiling meekly as the watching people were horrified by her brutality, she wiped her bloody gloved hand across her forehead with some small degree of ease, avoiding painting her cheek in the process.
She hefted one of the lumber axes and trod a deep footstep into the snowy tundras, loose packed snow was difficult to traverse but little progress was progress none the less.
To soothe her anger she counted the number of ways she had yet to satisfy the requirements of the task given to her, the travellers needed to be escorted safely back to where they were going.
That would be simple enough, they offered rudimentary help with moderate success, when it came to defending themselves they were more or less competent.
Nix was compiling a report of her own to let the archivist know how she had prevented them from being mauled by wolves, something she put a gold star sticker beside and a love heart.
Her effort was optimal and she lit candles to help them fly out of the trench they had dug, a windbreak so they didn’t freeze to death, and various things they deemed to be unnecessary they carelessly discarded.
Their lives were more important to them, Nix couldn’t help but calm down, being punished for their silliness wouldn’t help them not do it again in the future.
They would have to learn the hard way, as they trekked out of the snow, Nix lamented on how saturated her socks had gotten.
Resigning to dip her cold toes in a warm bucket of water at the nearest inn, this meant two things.
She would be refused service if she asked for anything alcoholic and they would ask her if her parents where there escorting her.
One of the lost people vouched for her and bought her a warm bowl of soup and a stale piece of bread.
Of these things, one of them she appreciated.
The soup was particularly snazzy, the bread was salty and had a green leaf that tasted funny on it.
After soaking in a warm bath, she dressed herself and waved good bye to the people, who had traded some of the materials they had harvested from the wolves to pay Nix for the trouble.
They left on good terms and Nix delivered the sun of Yul to the archivist’s office, happy to go through the taxation process as it gave her a reason to bother the archivist.
A part of the Yul she delivered would serve as payment for services rendered, only a partial amount would be her’s to keep, but she was saving up her paychecks one at a time.
Patiently waiting for something to spend it on, uncertain particularly of what she would require as the work she completed was pretty rudimentary.
The wolves had been less patient than some of the people who attended the office, but Nix was swinging her legs contentedly waiting getting paid for her work.
Giving the person who would be granting her the gold stars and Yul with a grateful and appreciable nod.
After being paid, Nix returned home, thinking about how to spend her pay but coming up with little things she particularly wanted,
When Nix had returned it was early morning, she was very tired, and slept for most of the next day.
Grumpy when she awoke, yawning and stretching wondering how the lost people were doing now that they were no longer lost.
An envelope with a few golden stars in the mail was the highlight of her day.
