”He’s doing it again.” Waylynn had to look up from her book she was currently reading to watch the fairy float back into the room. She had decided to rest for a bit after her latest mission took a bit out of her and if nothing else she could watch the Royal knights training while at the Carrion estate. She knew what Salena meant when she said that but felt the need to clarify anyway.
”You mean watching the Royal knights train from the high window.” She had been, well, ignoring the problem for some time now but really she would have thought Michail could get over his issue sooner rather than later. Clearly she wasn’t giving it enough attention though because it had just continued on. ”And frowning and stuff. He’s got negativity rolling off him like it’s his mana type, it’s making me all gross feeling and I’m not allowed to prank anyone so it’s getting on my nerves.” Of course even if she was trying to care about people the spirit would frame things in terms of how it was affecting herself, it didn’t matter though Waylynn could do with having a talk around now.
”I suppose I’ll go talk to him then, oh and please, don’t just hold back because you’re scared of Hania’s spirit please just hold back because it would bother me.” She made her way out the door and back up to the third floor with her companion in tow. Sure enough when she arrived in the hall with the window outlooking the training ground her twin was brooding as he watched the goings on.
”Penny for your thoughts brother? You’ve been coming up here to watch quite often.”
At first, it was just bothersome. Bother became irritation. Irritation grew into anger. And from anger came loathing. These excessive negative emotions were all directed inward, of course. It wasn't like he wasn't trying. He tried his damnest. So then, why couldn't he go further? A myriad of negative emotions surfaced when he watched the training. It wasn't that he envied them though. Training with Lydia was brutal; it would break the average mage. So then why was she here?
The blonde felt disgust every time he saw that woman. Verena Reinsberg. A family worse than peasants as far as he was concerned. Why was she here? Why did she attend so frequently? Even when training had been dismissed, he knew she was still training. He didn't need any sensory talent like Lydia or even need to stalk her to know that. She was a Royal Knight, but surely there could have been better options. Even that weakling of a Vermillion likely could grow ... probably...
She offered nothing in the spars she participated in. She was useless. Yet she still tried. Even though she was growing stronger, she was still useless. So then, where did that put him? Why was someone who had turned her back on her own family get to be as strong as she was? To get to continue to grow? Why did he just...
Michail was broken from his stupor when he glanced over to his approaching sister. "Come now, dear sister. It's not as if I would need a penny for my thoughts. Though to be paid for sharing my wisdom would certainly be a quite welcome change of events," he said, flashing a forced smile her way.
"Nevermind me. How are things with Salena going and your own training?"

He was forcing himself to smile, that much was for sure but for whatever was upsetting him well she could speculate but there would be little good in doing that, despite being twins they were quite different after all. She would chuckle as he revealed perhaps more than he had been meaning to with his greeting line, though ignoring his advice was something she herself might be prone to do it was more surprising that others would be doing so. Still his own question, though perhaps a deflection did bring up an issue she was having on her own. ”Salena has been as she has been since our first meeting, truly I’ve adjusted to it more than anything else but that’s done little for closing the gap in our bond. She’s far too mischievous for her own good, but Hania’s advice has opened things up a bit.” There was a moment there where the fairy pouted behind her and seemed to think about saying something but ultimately decided not to. ”To that point we’ve been trying to understand each other a little better. Though it’s been a bit of adjustment, I think Amostia almost scared her straight. She wasn’t going to think of that particular conversation for now, it wasn’t exactly a pleasant one and she’d rather go her own way about it than try to align as they had in any case.
She dispelled the memory after a moment. It was just a distraction after all. ”Still, She’s at least sensitive enough to figure out that something is bothering you. I’d be remiss to allow you to wallow in silence. though I may not have a solution, you can talk to me.” She took the edge off of her voice, for possibly the first time in a long time she spoke in a gentle tone out of concern for her brother.
Michail was a surprisingly good listener... only when he cared enough about the person in question, however. Waylynn was one of the few people to whom Michail gave his utmost attention to when they spoke. Nodding his head when his sister explained that the spirit had been more or less the same as well as the problematic mischievous usual self and she had been getting advice from Hania to make matters a little easier. That was good. It was always good to know that those who were strong within the family were on good terms.
"That's good, I'm glad to hear it. Well, apart from Amostia trying to scare Salena. That won't do at all," he said, his voice a little concerned as he looked for the Spirit.
Michail's expression fell when Waylynn mentioned that Salena had picked up something wrong with him. He turned his back, letting out a great sigh. Perhaps a bit too exaggerated, but that was seemingly par for the course as he wagged his finger. "Come now, dear sister," Michail said. "You know me. I'm a Ravencrest. What have I to possibly be upset about? We are lesser royalty. We have our own kingdom. Our family matriarch is the strongest mage in all of Clover. With a snap of my fingers, I can get about anything I want. We are the most powerful family in Clover."
A pause, as Michail's overblown theatrics, came to a stop. Indeed, he came to a full-blown stop as his head slowly bowed down, staring at the ground.
"...so then why am I falling beyond everyone, Waylynn? We're supposed to be the strongest. But even despite trying as much as I am, I'm not getting anywhere. I'm not even close to the level of strength you possess, let alone Hania. I don't even possess any magical sensory, something even peasants can do... I failed to protect that civilian in our first dungeon despite it being my role as the rearguard. A mere Reinsberg is serving as a Royal Knight. The same Reinsberg who turned her back on their family and ran away when they needed her most."
"So why..."
"Why am I so weak? I'm training. I'm training as hard as I can. But why can't I get anywhere? Why are peasants rising ahead while I dwindle and stagnate? What am I doing wrong...?"
