Golems were only good as decoys. That was what Lydia had said. In truth, Verena couldn't argue with it. But she still wanted to prove her wrong. That golems could be useful as more than just decoys. Her magic was only capable of giving worth to golems and nothing else. She was far more skilled with golem magic than any other sort of magic. And in this world where one's magic was practically their entire worth and being, it was like an attack on her.[break][break]

Various combinations. More precise control. Optimal mana usage. Elemental diversity. There were so many variables that came into play with her magic in particular that Verena couldn't help but feel as though she had to play the part of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none sort of deal. Even still, she could go further. She had to go further. This could not be the extent of her usefulness. Her carbon magic was still useful, but she could do more. She had to do more.[break][break]

Hours went by as Verena spent the night sky outside of the estate, training. Time she should have been resting. All for the next day's brutal training. But she couldn't fall behind. And similarly, she didn't want to forget anything about the prior training as well as adding her own training regiments. All to be useful and to show her gratitude. And to prove that her golems could be more. That they would be more.[break][break]

The woman's hair was down and her glasses had long since fallen off her face. Sweat poured down as she exhausted her mana supply time and time again, only to let it rise back and then use it more. She was pushing herself harder than anyone else had to. Then anyone needed to. If anything, it was almost to a point of jeopardizing herself. But...[break][break]

Verena collapsed after some more combinations, falling onto her bottom as she supported her upper body with her hands. She wasn't finished though. If she could learn more elements, perhaps that would help...[break][break]

Of her teammate's magic, she had already learned Light magic as well as Dark magic -- at least, prior to Hans' removal from the team due to the circumstances that befell him... She possessed Solar magic as well thanks to Griswold. She needed to learn Hania's Ice magic, however. Of the people within Carrion, Verena knew some of the Ravencrest possessed salt magic as well as blood magic. The two elements could possibly come together for a unique combination if her thoughts about them were correct, but it was difficult to say for sure.[break][break]

Verena's stomach churned at the idea of having to even speak to Michail, let alone ask him for any sort of favor.
