For reasons that were believed to be the result of the antics of the local youth, scarecrows have been popping up in the fields in specific bits of farmland. While this was by itself not the worst thing, they seem to move around a lot as the local farmers have reported trespassers around the house by people dressed as scarecrows. When returning to work the fields the next day, the scarecrows in the field seem to have moved into another section of the farmland, though no tracks can be found. When checked out, the scarecrows seem to be just that, men of straw and cloth, although no one dares check them out at night. This is where you come in.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
As far as uses of his time Frankie was wondering if he had made a bit of a mistake on taking the job he was about to embark on. In the moment it seemed like a wise decision. A farmer was looking for assistance with some troubles they had been experiencing lately within their field. Seems likely a perfectly suitable thing to assist with. However, since said mission was not something sanctioned by the Magic Knights he probably should have questioned it further. It wasn't until after agreeing to the job that he found out that said troubles were mysterious scarecrows sprouting up throughout the fields or moving moved from one place or another. It all sounded like some elaborate prank done by children who were having a laugh at the farmer's expense. However, the farmer had been quiet adamant that something must be afoot as they had caught no sight of any mischievous children and there weren't even any tracks to speak of when a scarecrow moved from one place to another. Franklin had wanted to belittle the man's concerns, as he did know more than one trick that could be used easily enough to hide tracks if someone was cunning enough. However, the need for some additional Yul to refill his very empty purse had outweighed the ridiculousness of the entire situation.
The mad mage figured it would be easy money. The farmer had been completely unwilling to check on the scarecrows at night which meant whatever pranksters were up to no good had several hours at their disposal to commit the crime, clean up any evidence, and get out of sight. Any easy feat if there were enough bodies willing to assist and in a small village in the Forsaken Region there were probably more than a few bored teens looking to entertain themselves through whatever means they could manage. The farmer was simply a convenient distraction until they grew bored of him. All the same, better that he put a stop to this before they did get bored and the offer of an easy job vanished with it.
After discussing it in detail with the farmer Frankie had found out that the man had hired some additional assistance. He didn't give much information about this partner Frankie would be working with, only that he was a rather big individual and quite dapper looking. This man, Magnus, had also been told of the details of the job and also a time and place he should arrive at in order to meet any other people the farmer was looking to hire. The landowner didn't go into details, but he seemed insistent that the more people working on this the better. For the life of him Frankie couldn't understand why he would want to spend his Yul hiring additional bodies when it wouldn't be necessary, but perhaps the farmer feared that some hooligans would escape once they were caught red handed without extra bodies there to prevent them from leaving. In any case none of that mattered too much to Frankie. Whether he was willing to hire one person or a hundred so long as he got the promised amount and this silly matter could be resolved that was what was important.
Always exactly punctual Frankie arrived just after dusk, not a minute sooner or later. As the job was to inspect the scarecrows after nightfall the farmer had made it very clear that they would not get paid if they simply showed up as the sun was setting took a look around and called it a day. No, they had to wait until the sun was completely gone before they did any of their inspections. So, Frankie milled about around the field, his gaze falling across what scarecrows he could make out in the distance. Much of them, if any he could see, were largely hidden away behind the crops the farmer was growing. However, those he did see gave off an eerie impression, to the point where he wondered if they had been infused with some sort of magic to enhance their ability to scare off animals. As he did so he could just make out perhaps some birds circling over some of them and spoke aloud to himself as he waited for this Magnus to arrive. "They don't seem to be doing a very good job."

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus awoke to the sound of a gentle tapping at his door. He'd yawn slightly, as he lifted his eyes lids open, his breathing slow and steady, warmth tingled from his body, and he sat up quickly, turned out of his bed, folded his sheet over, opened his curtain to let the morning sky peer bright through his window pane. The orange curtains were decorated in silver lamé and blue silk satin fabric. With white stitching of roses draping down the lining, they were his favorite and he had custom-made as he felt it always complimented the sunrise and night sky that he occasionally enjoyed painting for practice. Such pictures could be seen hanging around his room. The room's walls were painted in shades of sapphire blue, light greys, chiffon, frost, and alabaster white. They resembled that of a cloudy sky. His drawers were in a similar fashion over being painted over, in multicolor of all spectrums inspired by the aforementioned sunset and night sky. As Magnus got from his bed, opened his window, and slipped on his slippers, he maintained one key trait that never changed; his right arm was draped to his stomach, cupping upward, his breathing was steady and his stomach moved in and out in rhythmic deep breathes. His arm never moved but so much only to balance out his steady steps, as he moved with a gentle grace. For in his arms laid something precious to him, but also rather temperamental.
Tucked within Magnus's broad arm, nestled, cupped, wrapped, and protected by strong large hands, rested a small ball of blue and tan fluff. A small ball of fluff that was precious to Magnus and one of his new wonders. He enjoyed this ball of fluff, truly he did, however, this being was one that was rather temperamental, especially when awoken from its sleep. Magnus had finally gotten the spirit to rest on a nightly schedule alongside him, or rather, it realized that it liked sleeping atop Magnus's stomach. It was comfy there, and his silk sheets felt nice on his fur, Magnus found that the being at times liked being swaddled, it liked small spaces, and often at times if Magnus wasn't in his room. he'd come back to the being resting in one of his slippers. He wasn't one to disturb the rest of the creature, he thought it looked adorable and peaceful so he opted to get an additional identical pair of slippers, that way the creature could rest in whichever one it wanted. However, upon doing such he came back to the creature now sleeping inside his drawer at times. So at times, his daily schedule was disturbed more than twice, and he wasn't one to let something go on more than two times. No, it was time for a change, and as he spent that night pondering on what his new plan of action would be, Fantelo the name he had given the ball of fluff, had snuck under his covers and nestled himself atop of Magnus's stomach after observing the rhythmic breathing of sleep the night before. Magnus found that the small ball was rather soothing to have there, and as such, it seemed they had come up with a compromise.
It was because of this that Magnus took great care when moving in the morning and even when going through his daily motions, as he didn't like to disturb the being's sleep and to show his appreciation. Fantelo in turn appreciated this as well, and it was because of this mutual appreciation that he often found himself listening to Magnus's suggestions at times. However, one Fantelo refused to do such with was waking earlier than he wanted. That was utterly preposterous to the ball of fluff. Somedays he would sleep 9 hours, some even 12. It was all up to how he felt, but at times he found that Magnus kept him interested enough and fed well enough that he could indulge him with a bit of his time.
Magnus had made it across his room. and opened the door with practiced grace. "Good Morning, Sir Magnus." Two soft voices spoke to him. It was a young petite girl, with a black pantsuit on, blonde hair slicked back into a neat ponytail. She had on a pair of black shoes and already liked wide and fresh awake. Her emerald eyes swept at Magnus's dreary own, behind her another girl of similar appearance, the only difference was that one was about 6 years younger. Margaret had completed her training, and schooling within the family and recently had taken the steps to become a full member of the Aurelius family. As such, she had the privilege of having Aurelius' last name. Her sister Elaine, was still young but just at the beginning of her training. Both were adopted children into the family whom of which were assigned the Magnus by the House Leader, Tiberius. Thinking they were promising children and a good fit. He had them for about two years now, and in that time had grown fond of them both.
He stepped softly to the side as to Elaine into the room where she would proceed to clean, making the bed and picking out Magnus's outfit for the day. She had grown fond of it and found that she rather enjoyed the task, especially because of fashionable talent, not to mention Magnus had a mass array of suits of different fabric and textiles. It allowed her to let her imagination run rampant. From then one Magnus followed Margaret to the dining room. He was treated to a vast breakfast of meats, dairy, vegetables, and eggs. His first morsel would be the potato dishes. As for Fantelo, the smell of food had tempted the young spirit awake, he had found recently that event though his favorite thing to eat was paint, something that sustained him and was delicious, especially when drawn into art, was that human food was a close second, especially when cooked by Margaret and Elaine. Often times when one became a full member of the Aurelius family they were offered job positions in their field through family connections and unionization. Due to this, they were often paid a much higher wage being able to make their own money, and even life on their own or whichever other freedoms befitting them of the world as long as it was legal. However, when it was time for Margaret to do such she asked Magnus if she could work for him instead, as it would also give her the benefit of being with her sister still. Magnus in turn agreed to it and paid her a wage befitting of her status as a full Aurelius member. In doing so, she showed her appreciation for top-notch service. Just as she had done with her training before. Although now her skills were refined and near as close to perfection one could get, and Magnus and Fantelo alike did so enjoy her cooking.
After they finished eating Magnus and Fantelo now both awake moved toward the bath area, where a scented bath adorned with spices, flowers, and hot water had been run by Elaine already, before the young girl went to do her next task, leaving the bath scalding hot, however now as Magnus would be entering it after giving it such a long time to cool down, it would be the perfect temperature of heated warmth. Entering the area he closed the door, removed his garments, and stepped into the bath. Soaking in with a sigh, choose to soak for a moment before he began to wash with his variety of creams and soaps. He had pondered whether or not he should wait to read what was left for him later or to soak in the bath for a while longer and just relax.
Ultimately he reached over to his table that sat next to the bath. A glass covering with a small bubbled glass handle on top hid beneath it some papers, enveloping a cushion, atop a silver table, to keep steam and moisture from entering inside was to his right. He grabbed it and lifted and as he did, Fantelo pounced atop his head and nestled into his hair that he had just cleaned and rinsed. It meowed softly, before mumbling out Magnus's voice in its high pitch. Magnus reached his hand back into the bath, electing to leave the papers under the glass. Fantelo didn't like getting into the actual bath itself but it did enjoy the rising steam from it. Luckily Fantelo cleaned himself, but Magnus knew he would also only sit there until he was ready to get out of the bath. So he opted to soak just a while longer.
He chose to read what was under the glass after he finished his bath. Of course, then he would wash his hair once more just standing instead of sitting. After he dried and most of the steam cleared he would brush his hair, clean his teeth, moisturize, cover some of the visible scars on him with his thin magical makeup. Except for the one over his missing eye, that would never be touched by such. Magnus made his way over to the steel table, lifted the glass with one hand, and the papers with his free hand, before returning the glass covering. He flipped through his papers as Fantelo pranced alongside him. He dressed in his blue and white suit. It was his favorite, and it seemed this was the one Elaine picked for him today as well. For his pocket square, she had chosen one that was sapphire blue with white stitching around the ends to match his sapphire tie. As he flipped through the papers he found something interesting, a new mission positing. Ever since his travels around the Clover Kingdom and stumbling across the occasional mission and having the courage to step out and take them, he had been opened to a much bigger world of adventure on his goal of becoming a magic knight and gaining strength before doing so. As it stood, he wanted to be worthy of wearing the mantle of the Blue Roses once he was finally able to do so. So he elected that in the meantime he would do missions to gain more experience. As such Margaret on her occasional shopping trips would bring back missions she thought Magnus would be interested in.
It was to go around and inspect scarecrows in the Forsaken Region, to find if they were something more nefarious, and to take care of the wildlife issues. Magnus having found himself stronger after his last visit to the region having journeyed alongside a strapping young fellow named, Griswold, and some others like Connor and Nix that he had met, and even spending time with a Blue Rose members. Not to mention Fantelo and some other goodies that he had gotten. As it stood he felt stronger tougher, after eating something strange within the candy bag. As of lately, he found himself crafting more, painting more, his hair and beard hot gotten longer and his body stronger, he felt he could pull in mana naturally from the world around him, and with it, he was able to finally fill the empty gaps that had been left by the remnants of the curse that formally afflicted him, the dastardly thing that had impacted his greatest wonder, and weakened him beyond measure. He could slowly feel his mana taking hold, being able to even cast magic again, but now since he had eaten that mysterious hammer-shaped treat, he felt as though he could feel the very mana in the world around him, he could feel it envelop him, his endurance grew stronger, and when he trained and became low on mana from painting he felt as though he got a second wind sometimes. He could pull in natural mana from the environment around him, and in doing so he regenerated mana at a much higher pace. It was astonishing to him, he did so enjoy having the freedom of so much more mana, it even made him feel healthier.
So with his newfound strength, he decided to take on the mission choosing to discover himself whether or not the scarecrow was truly a being of malicious intent or simply straw but his last time in the Forsaken Region had taught him things aren't always what they seem, and that just beneath the surface of something often lied a villain in wait. Then after making initial contact with the farmer and going through the usual motions of asking questions Magnus had learned that the Farmer thought of asking for additional help, Magnus agreed it would be wise to do so, and figured he could always use the extra help and it would make for a good chance for a new possible connection. He set up an appointment time and now it seemed the day had come and the time was fast approaching. He made his way to the meeting area via rented carriage. Often times he would just fly on a broom, or perhaps hire a special mage if he felt like exhausting such funds, but for now, he simply wanted to enjoy the scenic route, and in doing so, he was sure he'd get to the Forsaken Region in time, after all, his house though large was only in the upper parts of the common region near the forest. After arriving in the Forsaken Region Magnus would dismount his carriage, and let it go on about its way in the nearest direction. Magnus wasn't one to be late, nor was he mere seconds after he arrived up the lane, Fantelo tucked and carried within his arm, still sleeping away wrapped within his large hand as a big ball of blue and tan fur. Magnus though punctual would come to find an oddly dressed man with a Green Mantis mantle. "I agree." Magnus would say as he followed Frankie's gaze as he made his way closer to the man, watching him as he came into view and having heard him speak about what he could only assume was the scarecrow.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Unless you're simply passing by, and if so I apologize for interrupting you. I do believe, that I am the one who will be helping you on this mission. If you'd so oblige." Magnus would state bowing his head slightly and placing his free hand over his chest, Fantelo still tucked and napping. He felt something eerie from the area, and the crows looked rather ravenous. He got the same feeling he did before when he was with Griswold and the whole imp debacle, for a magic knight to be here, Magnus figured that this issue was worse off than it probably appeared to be, as was the case with when he was with Nix and Griswold. Magnus's eyebrows creased as he looked in the distance, he turned to face Frankie head-on. "Well, shall we get started, Sir Knight?" Magnus said with the utmost respect and candor.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Frankie had still been watching the scarecrows with some curiosity when he heard the voice of someone behind him. When he turned he found someone dressed less for a romp through the fields and more someone who looked ready to see nobility. The pocket square, the tidy outfit, it all looked a little out of place for Frankie given the farmland, but to each their own he supposed. Unless it would create some sort of issues for practical reasons he didn't really care what people wore. On more than occasion his own outfit had been called out by others even when it made little difference what he wore. So if there was one thing he wouldn't abide it would be hypocrisy. Still, he wondered if he should infer anything about the sort of man this stranger was based said clothing choice.
As he had surmised the stranger was indeed his contact for this mission. He seemed polite enough and unless he was hiding his mantle he was not a Magic Knight. Not that it meant he wasn't capable, Frankie had seen plenty of instances of strong mages who simply had no desire to work within the organization. Perhaps they followed the church or perhaps they simply didn't want to be tied down by the bureaucracy that was inevitably intertwined with the Magic Knights. In any case unless it impacted the mission or resulted in something worth studying Frankie really didn't care. Besides, based on what was involved in this mission he hardly saw any reason on why a civilian wouldn't be allowed to be involved. "Yes, it seems we will be working together for this particular assignment. My name is Franklin Stein, but you can simply call me Frankie. All studies indicate that when forming healthy working relationships nicknames are often an integral tool for doing so."
"Yes, I suppose we should." Was the only indication that they should get a move on as he made his way into the field and towards the first scarecrow. Although the thing was certainly creepy from afar there really wasn't anything that abnormal about it. It was actually a little disappointing as the mad mage had been hoping for some hidden nature that he could perhaps put under a scalpel and really dissect. He had even done a full circuit around the first scarecrow to best ensure he didn't miss anything. Only thing off about it had been the rather peculiar acting crow that had not bothered to fly off until the pair was practically right on top of the thing. "Were you familiar with this case before you accepted the job? Perhaps heard any rumors from townsfolk on who might be the culprit behind moving the scarecrows? Small town, if someone is behind it only natural that the word would spread in some fashion. Gossip spreads faster than truth in places like this." Having come from a small town Frankie spoke from experience, but since this was not a village he was familiar with he had not had the chance to question anyone. He was wondering if his new partner had. It couldn't hurt to ask since they had some time to kill as he made his way to one scarecrow after another. If the other man knew of something perhaps they could provide that information back to the farmer and be provided some sort of bonus for their trouble.
After a few scarecrows Frankie was convinced there was nothing strange about the ones they were looking at, at least not on the surface. Again though with each scarecrow they found crows who always simply flew off the moment the pair approached. The purpose of the straw men were to ward off such creatures, but since crows were one of the smarter species of the bird family he supposed it wasn't too odd that they would see through the facade and be fine perching upon the fake men. "No particular clues in the stitch pattern on the clothing for the scarecrows. Nothing that looks like I could trace it to a particular person's work. Clothes looks like they were taken from any number of sources, likely leftovers found from thrown out clothing all over the village." Frankie made the observation out loud, an explanation for what he kept doing by inspecting every scarecrow. He had found that if he said nothing for too long some people would remark that they had become unnerved. He might have also been wanting to justify to himself that all of this wasn't for naught.
"Least though we are almost done. From what the numbers we were given that scarecrow in the distance should be the last. Once we have inspected that one we can report our findings to the farmer." One more scarecrow and Frankie could turn this whole thing in for some easy Yul. He was still disappointed that he hadn't uncovered some secret nature to the scarecrows. Although he had figured it would be the work of pranksters he had still hoped that perhaps he would find evidence of Golem magic or perhaps Sensory involved to help move the straw men around unseen. That would have at least resulted in some interesting studies of how the magic had been applied to do so. All well, not much to do now, but check out the last one and be done.
[attr="class","hansheader"]N O T E S
Frankie introduces himself and then begins the inspection. He asks some questions and makes some observations on the job, but seems largely focused on the task at hand. Not much to do be found yet, but perhaps after the final scarecrow something will happen?

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus listened to Franklin's words and a small would form on his face, only masked slightly by his gray mustache. "An educated man, I see." Magnus complemented, unlike Griswold and Connor he didn't have sensory magic, no he never truly had the knack for such things. It was only recently that he was able to discover how to use golem magic, and thankfully due to his magic element, it was much easier for him than he imagined for many others, if anything he considered a natural talent. However, as Magnus had said such he quickly realized that he was so engraved in the mission that he had nearly forgotten to give his own name first. "Excuse my blunder and lack of manners, my name is Magnus Cassius Aurelius, but you can just call me Magnus. I look forward to working with you, Frankie." He had no nicknames of his own yet to give to Franklin, though Fantelo had taken to call him "Mag" before when tired, or perhaps the Spirit just couldn't finish getting out the rest of his name before falling asleep.
He followed Frankie into the thicked of the fields and watched as the man took note of the scarecrows, and would reply in turn to all of what Frankie had asked. "I was, I received a mission flyer asking for help, in doing so, I did a small investigation but found nothing unusual besides the story itself. Now that we're up close beside the scarecrows being seemingly ineffective against those ravenous crows, nothing itself seems to be out of place. Unfortunately, any other information doesn't seem to be of merit or use." Magnus would state as he moved his free hand behind his back and looked around the field once more, before turning his gaze to the crows before placing his blue eye back on to Frankie.
"You'd think so but during this time of year all sorts of odd things happen, and most nefarious beings have a way of going unseen. Not too long ago, I found myself facing off against some thieving imps and summoner." Magnus stated with a smile, the very thought of that night bringing back some wonderous memories but also detailed just how weak he felt at the time. However, as his body took in the natural mana around him, he felt something... Off. He felt as if something more was at play, something nefarious, and he couldn't shake the feeling, now more than ever he was willing to follow his gut over his mind. "Though it may sound rather illogical to you, I would like to further investigate at some point, although I do believe you are correct, for now, we should inspect the last scarecrow as you said and then take care of those dastardly crows," Magnus said with hushed breath after all crows were intelligent and were often known to hold grudges.
Magnus made his way over to the last crow and would inspect presumably alongside Franklin only to find his investigation coming up short, besides the eerie feeling he got in the natural mana around him, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He lifted the front pouch of his satchel which in turn held the magical paintbrush wand set he had, he plucked one of the paintbrushes out of the satchel, and with a small focus of mana to the tip of his paintbrush paint would begin to pool out from it on the very air itself using nothing but mana to sustain itself without a truly flat surface for a canvas. "Paint Magic: Field of Wonder" he muttered, as hues of frost blue and a light grey color, with dark and lighter shades began to form into the appearance of roses with his brushstrokes. Fantelo stirred in his free hand, but within mere seconds Magnus had created his spell and art, the blue frosty blue roses would burst outward from him in a stream aimed for the crows that flew meters above. Crashing into the foremost crow in front, before bursting out in sharp pedals that would impale most of the crows, covering their bodies in the paint from his spell. Fantelo being the creature that he was awoke with a jolt, and in mere moments hoped from Magnus's hand, proceeded to gobble up the painted crows, and then pranced back into his arms to curl up and slumber once more.
Magnus was a bit taken back by the creature's appetite and choice for food but he did not intend on standing around and lamenting about it. Instead with the crows taken care of he made his way back to the Farmer, gave news of his finding told him what happened, said his farewells to Franklin, while being sure to leave his contact info, and insisted that the man come along with him the following day just to be sure or to see if anything had changed within the time frame that they were gone. After all, that feeling in his gut had only increased with the killing of the crows, it was strong now, and the feeling made him uneasy. It was almost as if now something sinister was watching him.

He then gives his contact info to Franklin and follows up by informing the Farmer of their findings. He says that he'll be back the next day to investigate further to see if there are any changes.

Description: Magnus begins to draw with his paintbrush flowing mana through the brush and paint as he does so, the paint takes the color of frost blue and a light grey color, with dark and lighter shades to complement it and give his drawing detail, Magnus creates a field of light grey and frost blue roses. Breathing life into them with his mana these roses burst outward flowing toward the target in a arc, looking to overwhelm the target with them. These roses are made with paint pigments that emulate the look of the freeze element. The roses are 7inch bushels grouped together to equal to 3 meters in size but focusing can be made into one large mass of 10-meter rose bushels. Following the ammo rules, Magnus can create a number of additional roses based on his control stat to launch at a target. When Field of Wonder makes contact with a target, or simply reaches the end of its range, its behavior is determined by Magnus; it can either dissipate then and there, or it can explode into a flurry of sharp petals made from the roses that will cut targets within a 10-meter area. As per ammo rules, Magnus can fire off multiple Field of Wonders. However, if he chooses to make the roses detonate, the area of effect must be reduced proportionately; half as large (5 meters) for two roses, a third as large (3.3 meters) for three, etc. Attempting to cause Junior rank damage, minor cuts and bruises, and minor damage. The force of the bursting roses can knock back targets. Knock Back is calculated by 2m + 5 for every 10 power Magnus has.
Rank & Element: Junior | Paint Class & Type: Imbued | Magic Trinket Magic Specializations: Golem Creation Appearance & Lore: Click For Image A Magical Ornate Paint Brush Set that comes with five 4-inch Paint Brushes in total all with different widths and styled bristles. The paintbrushes are ornate in design, with swirls of small patterns and silver in color. They have purple bristles that fade into white at their tips. Nothing is too special about these paintbrushes on their own except they are sturdy and have no need for a palette as they are capable of producing any color of paint on their own with a small infusion of mana. These paintbrushes were a gift to Magnus from his mother when he was younger and as such he cherishes them dearly but also uses them for his magic. However, as they are a magical set, they all share the same durability, thus if his weapon was to break even if it was just one paint brush due to an attack capable of destroying a junior rank weapon all of them would break. Outside of the fact that they can release paint, these weapons are nothing more than blunt objects. As such they cannot be used to stab or pierce without the usage of a spell or its ability. The paint flows to life, taking greater depth and shape from the image, revealing a portrait of a young woman with dark gray to green hair, pink mystical eyes, a gray dress, and glowing pink and yellow flowers blossoming from her. The golem has a sheen to its skin like wet paint. The golem is a Scout type and as such is built for speed, flight, and sensory.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Frankie's eyes quirked as he heard the long name. Long names were usually assorted with nobility who enjoyed tossing their surnames out. The man was dressed fancy enough that one might consider him a noble, but he wasn't exactly throwing his privilege around like some nobles would have. Hell, there were some nobles who would have never lowered themselves to assist a commoner unless it was directly related to their territory and they absolutely had to. Perhaps he was different or perhaps he was one of those very formal types. Since Magnus had been nothing, but polite for now Frankie would give him the benefit of the doubt. He supposed the job shouldn't be a very long one and if Magnus' attitude suddenly changed for the worse they could simply part once the job was done and never see each other again. "Magnus it is." Was all he had said in response. He never quiet understood why people could look forward to working with someone they had just met or call it a pleasure. There simply wasn't enough data to properly hypothesize such things. For all Magnus knew he could end up hating working with Frankie. He knew from his readings it was a social nicety, but one he just didn't understand.
Although it was a shame to hear that Magnus hadn't learned any much more then Frankie had prior to coming tonight at least it made him feel a little better about his own lack of success when questioning the townsfolk. It was also interesting to hear that Magnus had also noted just how ineffective all the scarecrow were. You'd think if they really were moving about on a regular basis even the smarter birds like crows might be thrown off enough to stay away. A scarecrow that sat there all day and night for days on end might be seen through by a smart bird, but one that moved every two or three days should seem human enough to keep even smarter birds away.
Frankie stroked his chin as Magnus brought up a valuable point that had not occurred to Frankie. He had completely forgotten about what time of year it was. When the veil was at its thinnest all sorts of odd things could occur. Could it be possible that the things moving the scarecrows were actually spirits or something else crossing the veil? Anything was possible, it certainly would be a lot more interesting than them simply being moved by children playing a prank. He didn't have much experience with the veil, but if this was due to that he would have a fantastic excuse to familiarize himself with such things. "I had heard tales of imps and summoners. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to investigate it personally. I would have loved to learn more about the magic involved that was used to bring them from their side of the veil." Not to mention he would have loved the opportunity to dissect one or two of those imps. He wondered just how unique or distinct their anatomy might be in comparison to a person. It was still regrettable that he had been so busy with other matters that he never had the chance to look into the matter personally.
Frankie wasn't sure why the man wanted to investigate everything further once this task was done, but he supposed he could at least entertain the idea. Perhaps the farmer would be willing to pay more if they actually did find the culprit behind all this and put a stop to it. "I can at least entertain the idea." He gave that much as he watched Magnus approach the crows and begin to cast magic. At first he had wondered what had made Magnus so hostile to the birds. They weren't getting paid for pest control. However, when the crows did not immediately flee at the manifestation of mana, but rather continued to watch them both Frankie took greater interest. Animals had better instincts and senses then humans. Even if they couldn't manipulate mana they should have at least sensed the threat Magnus presented and had their flight instinct triggered. Instead they had merely remained flying overheard until Magnus' magic had dispatched. A magic that was also quiet intriguing. Paint magic was not something one saw every day, in fact outside of literature this was the first for Frankie. It's application was probably one of the most diverse out of all the typical elements. It was capable of a serious array of options where other elements felt more geared towards certain specializations.
Only the surprises hadn't ended there. Frankie watched a small creature left Magnus and went over to the crows, beginning to consume them. A predator, even a smaller one, eating dead carrion wasn't exactly that strange. What made it unique was that the creature didn't look like any predator Frankie was aware. This was either some sort of mana beast or dare he hope, a Spirit. Either held his fascination and he had been hoping for a chance to study both beyond just reading about them. "I would be happy to come by tomorrow to further look into this matter Magnus. I think further cooperation would be mutually beneficial." Frankie was all smiles as he spoke the words, but his attention was fully for the small cat like creature. If looking into this matter further gave him a chance to continue seeing this little being he was happy to do it even if it might result in all this becoming a community service of sorts. As he moved to leave the for the night he was very excited for what tomorrow might bring.

Frankie stands by as Magnus deals with all the crows. He agrees to join Magnus tomorrow, perhaps more interested in Fantelo then the mystery behind the scarecrows.
