With another eventful night passing by, you once again return to the farmer at the break of dawn, explaining the situation and once again claiming that the scarecrows are not the issue. In response, the man claims that since last night, several of his cows had fallen ill, and that his wife had come down with a fever. Believing it to all be related, you are to sit out one more day and come back at night. When you do, it seems the scarecrows have yet again moved positions. More importantly, there are at least four totems located around the homestead that appear to have been made out of various kinds of animal bones. Believing they might be the source of the fever, they must be destroyed somehow.

Maximum Number of Players: 4
[break]Minimum Word Count: 2500
[break]Location: Forsaken Region
[break]Special Requirements: When initially attacking the totems, they appear to reform as if by magic. Even when totally obliterated by magic spells, they just reform in a matter of minutes. Noticing however that they begin to glow when hit by beams of moonlight, you piece together that they might need to be basking in it for them to become breakable. However, as you manage to break one of the totems, a loud roar and the churning of wood can be heard from seemingly all directions as the scarecrows come to life. All four totems must be destroyed, or it will count as an automatic failure.

What NPCs are in this mission? Please fill out the template for any notable NPCs. While those you have to socially interact with during the mission are not required, any enemy that is presented in the mission must be listed here.
[break]Magic Element and Types: Plant | Attack Creation & Restraining
[break]Combat Style: Wielding anything from rakes to pitchforks, these scarecrows might not look like much, though they seem to possess a level of control over the area. Capable of shooting vines and brambles out of parts of their own body to lacerate or restrain their targets, they can also make them pop out of the ground for the exact same reason. As such, it is advised to pay attention to these wonky men of straw, or you might get yourself into a heap of trouble.
[break]Additional Information: With the destruction of any amount of totems, the owner feels threatened and angry, causing the scarecrows in the fields to begin to twitch and move. Appearing just like any other scarecrow, some are made up of straw and clothes, others have a pumpkin head while others just look like a bundle of sticks wearing clothing. All in all, it is very hard to figure out how these things are moving around, as they might very well be possessed by angry spirits.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus made his way to the inn alongside Frankie but not before replying in kind to the prior conversation, "I do agree with what you said earlier Franklin, the wolf's behavior is strange and it certainly doesn't fit in within normal behavior. I don't think you need to truly be that familiar with local wildlife to tell those animals were strange." From his shoulder, Fantelo would murmur, "Strange taste" his high-pitched voice, barely an audible whisper in Magnus's ear. He curled into a ball and snuggled back into his shoulder. Magnus let his thoughts about the matter ruminate within in his mind. He mentally replayed everything they had gone through and Frankie's words. The mad mage was correct, the behavior the farmer exhibited by the farmer was odd for considering the duo was just trying to help him. The animal's behavior was far from ordinarily.
Even with Frankie's desire to investigate ruins and analyze magically enhanced animals, he was surprised the man hadn't picked up some of the animal's carcasses in order to do just that, or perhaps he preferred the creatures living, which in Magnus mind did explain why most of his skills seemed to be either initially preparation based or reactionary. The wolves tracks that seemingly lead to nothing, the crow's odd behavior, especially with it being night, their disregard for the wolves, the way they behaved and moved was as if they were being controlled or compelled, Magnus didn't know if these creatures were summoned, magically created, or simply being controlled, but as he thought back to attack the animals it left an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach, he knew it was either him or them and unfortunately he did what he had to do to ensure his and Frankie's own safety. Though he didn't let it show on his face, however, seemingly picking up on his souring mood, Fantelo brushed his body up against him with a soft purr. Magnus raised his hand and patted the small spirit with a small smile.
After having made their way to the inn, Magnus made sure to get a hearty meal and a good nights sleep, luckily his internal clock was already stunned to waking up in the early morning, as such even though he got less rest than he would usually like, he was still spry, up and moving about. He went to the inn's kitchen and asked if he could use their kitchen, in doing so he made both him and Frankie, eggs, steak, onions, and peppers all alongside pieces of bread that had been baked the night before by the innkeepers. Making his way to the front of the inn Magnus waited patiently by the carriage to wrap breakfast sandwiches in hand. Luckily having brought the horse-pulled carriage with him had paid off both for the trips back from the farm and to it. Magnus would eat along the ride, though he much preferred to eat at the table, time was of the essence. As such he simply had to suck it up, leaving Fantelo to nibble at the occasional crumbs and torn pieces of the breakfast sandwich from Magnus.
Upon arriving, Magnus would stand and stretch before heading to the farmer's house to once again explain the previous night's situation. Once again Magnus would tell the man the scarecrows didn't seem to be the issue and that he suspected something else was at work. The old farmer in turn would yell at them "My damn cows have gotten sick, several of them, my wife comes down with fever. Those damn scarecrows are still out there, and unless I'm going senile they look like they've moved again. Do what the hell I pay you for. Either you two figure it out, or find me someone who can. If I get no results again, It'll be your asses!" The farmer blurted before slamming the wooden door in their face once more. This time Magnus had made sure to stand a little further back from the door, figuring that the impending door slam would most likely happen again.
Once more Magnus and Frankie would have to wait until nightfall. However, as he and Frankie would patrol the farm grounds, they'd find that once again the scarecrows seemed to have moved position, and this time they were closer to the farmhouse. It was definitely strange, and the encroaching feeling he got from the natural mana in the area seemed more powerful than ever. However, as they walked around Magnus and Frankie would in turn stumble upon an amalgamation of bones. It consisted of what looked like a crow's skull up top, canine and avian bones mixed together in a pile that seemed to be almost connected or fused together from a spine that held it upright all perched atop a wooden post. The dark clouds that loomed overhead seemed to block out the moonlight for now, however, as the night went on the clouded sky would slowly but surely begin to dissipate, it would only be a matter of minutes before the moon was shining through. The feeling he got from the totem as he got closer, was the same feeling that had made him so uncomfortable as before,
Magnus took out his paintbrush wand and willed his mana to flow to the tip of it, creating hues of purple, and black a spell that Frankie would recognize. "Maybe it's a curse, I don't know why these bones are here, however, I've learned before that sometimes curses can be broken by brute power. If one has said power that is. That said I think it would be best for us to destroy these as soon as possible. I don't have a good feeling about this," Magnus stated as he continued drawing, the purple and black lines taking shape into a ball of sharp wire, before bursting outward toward the totem. Crashing into it, slicing it into bits as he muttered the words "Wicked Evening", Magnus spell hit its mark, and as he suspected the totem was easily destroyed, however, as he watched the totem would simply slowly but surely reform itself. He'd turn to Frankie with a raised eyebrow, and an expression that almost seemed to say "what now."
"Well, it's definitely magical in nature. I wonder how we can destroy them." Magnus looked to the sky above, looking around to see if they could see any crows, however, as he glanced around he would find that the farm sounded quite as compared to the last couple of days with all the animals.

Summary: Magnus continues the conversation from the night before, as they head toward the inn. Magnus wakes up in the early morning, asks to use the inn's kitchen as fixes him and Frankie's breakfast. Magnus presumably with Frankie head back to the farmer this time in a carriage with breakfast sandwiches Magnus made. They get yelled at by the farmer again and the door slammed in their faces once more, however they were told several cows and his wife had fallen ill since last night. They search the farm grounds again, only to find the scarecrows have moved, there are no animals, and that they stumble upon a strange bone totem. After discussion, Magnus uses attack magic on one "Wicked Evening" then after being destroyed the totem reforms. The moon is currently hidden via dark clouds, but is slowly but surely clearing up. Magnus looks to Franklin for ideas.

"Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
"Yes their behavior was very out of the norm. The only thing I can think of is that they were being manipulated in some fashion. Otherwise there simply no point in them coordinating in such a fashion. I'd have sooner believed it if we had killed the crows first or if remnants of them had remained behind. Had their carcasses sat for long enough then perhaps the scent of them would have attracted hungry wolves, but even then it would have attracted one cohesive pack rather than the assortment of wolves that attacked. Very fascinating..." Frankie mumbled all this as he followed along with Magnus though truth be told only a fraction of his thoughts were still on the events that had just transpired at the farm. Currently all his attention was for the creature riding Magnus' shoulders and his senses stretched in an effort to hear the being. He could have sworn the creature had made some small noise just moments ago, but the sound had been so soft that it was like a ghost of a sound. How he wished he had some sort of magic item that could record the sound. He could then play it back later and try to decipher it.
The mad mage remained quiet the rest of the way to the inn and didn't bother to speak again until the pair were eating within the inn. "I would have brought some of the creatures back to dissect, but after I tried to return here last night with the crow I was thoroughly berated for my action. It appears that science can drive away customers and peoples' appetites. I attempted a counter argument by making it clear that I too found their facilities less than sufficient for the studying of dead animals, but it appears that my own complaints only upset the owners further." Frankie had been quiet disappointed that he could not study the creatures here without the threat of losing a place to stay the night. Taking the creatures back to his lab at the Green Mantis headquarters as simply not an option as the travel and time could ruin any evidence that might be left behind. The mad mage didn't understand why the owners hadn't cowed to the abuse of his authority. Wasn't one of the fringe benefits of being a Magic Knight authority? If he couldn't dissect animals wherever he wanted then he seriously misunderstood one of the major selling points of legitimizing himself by becoming a Magic Knight.
The rest of the night and the following morning went by rather uneventfully. Once again Frankie had slept outside in the barn, which had turned out fortuitous as he had been awoken by the horses being taken out for the carriage that day. A few minutes of picking hay off his clothing and he met Magnus out by it where he was warmly greeted with breakfast. Frankie always appreciated a free meal and a reminder to actually partake in one. All too often he would be consumed by his experiments and forget to consume sustenance. Dropping from exhaustion due to not eating for several days at a time thoroughly impacted his ability to have a breakthrough. The mad mage ate his meal with the same practical nature he did most things. He crushed the sandwich into a ball, soaked it until it wet enough that it could easily slide down his gullet, and masticated just long enough that he wouldn't have to worry about choking to death. Although he was aware that food was delicious, the process of chewing and swallowing too often took away precious minutes he could be spending unraveling the mysteries of the universe. Or staring greedily at a certain Spirit.
Sadly, the conversation with the farmer didn't go nearly as well as Frankie's breakfast had. Just as the previous night the man was no less rude. He didn't seem to care at all of the peculiar nature of everything going on and instead would rather blame the two of them for not resolving everything already. After the door slammed Frankie turned to Magnus, questioning the new information that was provided. "The cows and wife being sick could likely be the effect of the crows? They seem to have been plaguing the area longer then the wolves which might have been a more recent development. Perhaps they inadvertently spread some sort of disease that was caught by both the spouse and the cattle. Though hearing the scarecrows moved again is interesting. Clearly the culprit of that is the same for the wolves and crows. Had they been two separate parties you would think that seeing a dead lupines and avian would have scared off any would be scarecrow movers. Only someone who was already familiar with the birds and dogs would have not been bothered by the sight of so many dead." Frankie wasn't sure why someone would bother moving around scarecrows one moment and then send crows and wolves to attack another. However, the evidence seemed daunting. He just didn't see an unrelated party sneaking onto the farm to move scarecrows, seeing a bunch of dead animals everywhere, and ignoring it all to continue on with their business. They had to be all done by the same person or people.
Once nightfall hit the pair explored the grounds once more, noting each scarecrow and attempting to figure out exactly what was going on here. Unlike the previous nights there were no crows. However, as they made their rounds the two did come upon a curious totem. The thing was clearly magical in nature. Frankie simply nodded his head as he listened to Magnus hypothesize similar thoughts and even try to test the thing by using magic against it. When it reformed Frankie practically clapped in enjoyment, moving closer to inspect every nook and cranny of the twisted specimen. "It could be a curse? Something directed at the farm to provide ill tidings? Would explain the peculiar nature of the animals as well as the aforementioned sick wife and cows. Who would place this here and why though? The farm isn't exactly doing better than any other farm in the area so it isn't likely business rivals. Though given his rude nature he could have gathered all manner of enemies, though I can't see any going this far. Given the regenerative nature of the totem we will likely need to fulfill some sort of requirement to ensure it is permanently destroyed. Perhaps utilizing a certain element or magic specialization? Healing can be quiet effective if this is a curse..." The gears were already spinning with Frankie and he was already devising a myriad of experiments he would get to perform. He was so consumed in his thoughts that he almost missed it when the moon finally broke cloud cover, its light shining down on the area.
The second moonlight hit the totem it began to glow. "Well, visual evidence makes it seem like moonlight might either be a major component or the answer to solving this riddle." Frankie withdrew his grimoire before shouting, "Servants of Creation!" The moment the words left his mouth the magic activated and Carbon Matter formed the familiar five apes. A nod of his head sent all of them against the totem and within moments they had dismantled and utterly destroyed the thing. It lay shattered into hundreds of pieces by the time they were done and after a few heartbeats of waiting they remained that way. It appeared that the moonlight was the key to ensuring these things stayed destroyed. "Eureka!" Frankie howled quiet excitedly and no sooner did he finish his cry of success that a howl ripped through the area from every direction. Following the sound in any of the directions it came from would be rewarded with the sight of one of scarecrows now mobile and clearly heading for the two. "It appears the totem has guardians. We can deal with them, but they too might have some sort of regenerative factor unless other conditions are met." Frankie stated the warning to his colleague even as he prepared himself. This was what he had been hoping for! Golem scarecrows, what a brilliant application of magic!
[attr="class","hansheader"]N O T E S
Frankie continues to theorize about the animals and the farm throughout the night and the following day. Once nightfall hits and they find the totem he quickly figures out moonlight is the key before destroying the 1/4 totems. The scarecrows act now that the totem is destroyed though and Frankie makes it clear there might be more to it all then simply destroying the scarecrows.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus stifled a small laugh at Franklin's response of potentially bringing back a crow but considering the previous actions he was at least happy the mad mage knew better than to attempt to do it once more. Although Magnus did think it was crude to bring a did crow into the inn, he would be remiss if didn't hope that the mad mage could've if not simply to gather more information. He knew not the depths of Franklin's scientific knowledge, only that it was much more than his own. Alas, they would have to settle for what they could find in the field. Instead, he opted simply to pat the mad mage on the shoulder and give a reassuring smile.
As they left in the morning Magnus found him glancing at Franklin curiously, the way the mad mage ate showed Magnus that he only cared to get the food down his gullet as opposed to enjoying it, in that sense, Magnus pitied the man quite a bit. Food was meant to be enjoyed just as much as it was meant for sustenance, at least in his mind anyway. He hoped one day that he could potentially help guide the Franklin in that direction someday, or at the very least teach him a few table manners. Granted there was no table to be found within the carriage, of which in Magnus's eyes he did desire to change that at some point, often days he dreamed of finding a much more luxurious carriage, one that could fly and had many more amenities. He was sure that if he kept his eyes and ears open he'd potentially find a carriage that suits his likings to such one day.
After arriving at the farmhouse and preceding to have to door slammed in their faces once more he listened to Franklin speak. Choosing to cool his temperament over the farmer, but Magnus would be lying if he were to be asked honestly about whether or not he wanted to give the farmer a piece of his mind. Magnus had a few choice words for the farmer brewing in his mind, but business and finding the issues at hand came first, and though he felt the farmer was hiding something, he couldn't be truly angry at the man for fearing for his wife, home, and livelihood. Though something still struck Magnus as odd when it came to the farmer. From what he had gathered, no other farmer in the area was going through such troubles, so why him?
"Those are great deductions Frankie, crows can carry diseases, and with all this wildlife randomly attacking, I could also see the possibility of something like rats being at play. I agree it's clear that these incidents are connected, now it's just a matter of finding out how, and hopefully, we can do so sooner rather than later. This mystery seems to be unfolding even more than before in front of our eyes." Magnus stated as they continued on their way throughout the farmland.
Magnus watched as the totem reformed, he was shocked and a little annoyed, it seemed that this mysterious thing was going to cause them more questions, however, Franklin was quick to deduce what the issue was. It seemed having the bright mage along with him was going to be an even better benefit than he initially anticipated, though he found Frankie unusual there was no denying the man's intelligence. If one could stand his oddities the man was not only a delight to be around but extremely useful. Magnus was happy that out of all the magic knights being sent it was him, he wasn't sure what he would've done had it been someone of lesser intelligence, especially considering that as they inspected the item, Frankie's observations had yielded both efficient and useful results. "I concur, it could very well be an enemy that he had made due to his temperament, however, I don't think any "normal" rival or enemy would do something like this. It seems to me to be something more "supernatural," Magnus would once again state, before continuing, "I'm no sensory mage, but recently I've been able to feel mana from nature around me, from the very world around me and since then the natural mana in this area has felt off since we first arrived, and every day since it has only grown increasingly encroaching... and angrier," Magnus stated, he didn't know how to truly explain it, hell he didn't even know what was going on with his body recently, but for now he simply kept his thoughts and ideas about to places where they could be of use, hoping this would give Frankie and his deductions some form of hint or clue.
However, as Frankie gave questions and possible solutions, Magnus would only be able to respond in kind with what he deemed was considerably disappointing, "unfortunately I don't have any healing magic, though I'm sure it would've come in handy right about now." Although as they stood and waited the dark clouds from the sky above would eventually part letting moonlight shine through in all its glory, and with its illumination came an eerie glow from the totem. Without a moment's hesitation, Franklin sprung into action, and from his actions, Magnus couldn't deny that the man was correct in his assumptions, that the totem indeed was destroyed and could only be so within the moonlight. "I see, so moonlight is the key," Magnus stated, taking out and gripping his own paintbrushes in his hand, then Fantelo began to hiss from atop his shoulders as a howl ripped through the area from all around them.
Magnus's nerves were on edge, as rustling from the large corn stocks could be heard and a scarecrow was making its way toward them. Magnus began to draw as Frankie spoke, "I agree, although they shouldn't give us too much trouble after all aren't they just straw?" Magnus's stated, however, his speed drawing speed increased incoordination to his words, regardless of whether they were straw or not they could possibly still do them harm and Magnus wanted to be prepared just in case. More rustling could be heard and eventually, the two mages would be faced with 3 scarecrows coming from the front a forked pattern. Not one to stand around and be overrun, Magnus would draw lines of purple with shades of black, a spell he was sure would be familiar to the mad mage by now. With a shout, Magnus let loose his spell "Paint Magic: Wicked Evening!" The ball of sharpened paint wires would fly forward bursting in the direction of the scarecrow turning it into nothing more minced straw, and as it did the other two scarecrows seemed to feverishly begin to move more, their pumpkin heads would glow with an eerie flame and ragged clothing shuffled about as they somehow moved through the cornstalks toward the duo.
Magus would begin drawing again, seeing as the number of scarecrows scattered about them was probably also going to end up hostile, he knew this battle was far from over, and that they probably had even more of these bone totems to find and destroy. "After we take out these two scarecrows, we should move as quickly as possible to the next totems, but be on your guard, I'm sure there will be no end to the dangers we stumble across now," Magnus stated, as he looked around for a nearby clearing in the fields, only to feel a rumbling coming from below, and upon stepping back he'd notice vines breaking through the ground beneath them.

However, as they are a magical set, they all share the same durability, thus if his weapon was to break even if it was just one paint brush due to an attack capable of destroying a junior rank weapon all of them would break. Outside of the fact that they can release paint, these weapons are nothing more than blunt objects. As such they cannot be used to stab or pierce without the usage of a spell or its ability. "Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!"
Frankie's first instinct had been to argue against the term supernatural. Despite the fact that he lived in a world where magic, spirits, and even demons existed Frankie always railed against the idea of the metaphysical. Everything, including the supernatural, could be explained away with science. One only needed enough time to study the subject and the resources to do so. If there wasn't a proper explanation for it then it just meant that the magical sciences hadn't developed enough to be able to give an appropriate answer. Once they caught up those mysteries too would be solved. However, he could not argue the fact that at least at this point in time much of the unexplained did seem to be more easily explained with the supernatural. Since Magnus had been nothing, but cordial Frankie opted not to open the can of worms. Perhaps in the future they could have a lively discussion on the nature of the supernatural, but for now he would let sleeping dogs lie. If anything a part of him did hope that whatever was the answer behind all would be something you would call supernatural. The challenging to analyze and break down such a thing would be all the sweeter.
"Feeling mana around you, but it is not associated to Sensory magic? Intrigueing..." Frankie had a few theories on what that might be, but he wasn't willing to share it just yet. From what Frankie had seen and studied there were all manners of ways for people to heighten their senses without using Sensory magic. In fact, he was currently experimenting with body modification, his own of course. All requisitions to provide him convicts as test subjects had been denied thus far. Regardless, he was currently looking into how he could modify his own body to provide him senses closer to an animals. Better hearing, sense of smell, the works, it was a slow process, but he hoped to find his solution in the next month or so. However, he didn't think that was what was happening with Magnus. A colleague of his, Griswold, displayed similar abilities and he wondered if Magnus had stumbled on the same technique. Griswold had yet to confirm exactly what that skill was that allowed him to sense things around him, but it was something that allowed him to feel mana in much the same way. Perhaps if the Black Bull wasn't willing to be forthcoming then Magnus might provide an answer once he fully unlocked it. If the ability could be performed by two completely unrelated people then there was hope he could duplicate it, he looked forward to seeing if that were the case.
Unfortunately, the destruction of the totem and the appearance of the scarecrows had sidelined any idle conversation. They were an immediate threat that had to be dealt with. Magnus wasted no time of his own destroying three of them despite his commentary that their anatomy should make them easy pickings for the pair of wizards. Although physically they might not seem so impressive the fact that they were constructs with little regard for their wellbeing was a threaten. Beings that didn't care whether they lived or died posed a serious threat by their sheer recklessness. Case in point, despite only two of the original group remaining they still charged forward. The magic that rumbled at their feet indicated that that they had more than just rakes and hoes at their disposal. "Brace yourself and be ready!" Frankie shouted to Magnus as he made a drastic mental command. Four of his apes moved forward, a pair of each bracing under each wizard. With a firm grip they would attempt to launch both Frankie and Magnus into the air. Hopefully, Magnus would trust in Frankie and simply allow it to happen.
As the mad mage went airborne two things occurred. First, was that vines erupted where he once stood, entangling one of the two apes that had thrown him skyward. If Magnus had allowed himself to be tossed them the same would likely be occurring where he had been standing. The second thing was Frankie shouted aloud, "Earthen Raptor!" At his command phrase Carbon Matter spilled from his grimoire like sand from a container. It swirled in the air for a heartbeat before forming into the shape of four large eagles. The same eagles that Frankie had used to reasonable effect against the crows the previous night. With a wordless command one eagle flapped its wings to put it directly underneath Frankie while the other would try to do the same for Magnus. If Magnus had avoided being tossed it would simply seek him wherever he had gone. For his part Frankie simply landed on the large bird of prey, the landing less then comfortable given it was made of Carbon Matter, but certainly better then a hard fall to the ground below. "If their magic involves restraining us with those vines they should have a more difficult time if we are mobile on my eagles. We can also potentially split up and take care of this business sooner. Feel free to use my raptor and take it to the next totem you can see. I'll do the same thing, but for another totem. We can destroy scarecrows as we go and meet back up on anything that might be left!" Frankie had to shout a little over the wind this high up, but he hoped he would be heard. One of the perks of their elevation was that he could clearly see the entire field and with that view he could also now make out not one, but three other totems basking in the moonlight.
With a nudge of his legs his eagle beat wings towards the closest totem to him. As he flew the two scarecrows which they had left on the ground began to take chase after him. Rather than let them catch up though Frankie ordered his remaining two eagles to permanently destroy them. They swooped down mimicking the raptors that they had been fashioned from and collided into the scarecrows. The constructs had been so focused on running down and stopping Frankie that they had not seen the hunters until it was far too late. The large birds tore into their straw matted bodies, easily ripping what little stuffing they called anatomy. Rakes threatened to do just as much damage back to his eagles, but ultimately the surprise attack had proven too effective. In moments they would be left as discarded piles of refuse, even the clothes they had been wearing torn to only so much fabric. As his eagles worked to dispatch the scarecrow Frankie would also have his remaining apes move to meet him at the totem. He had no destructive magic of his own so he would have to rely on them to do the dirty work for him. Even as his mount hovered to position itself near the totem the apes fell upon it, bashing the thing until it was a pile of broken bones and sticks. Frankie turned to assess the battle and get an idea of just where they might be in all this conflict. Magnus had hopefully made his way to the third totem which should only leave one more. However, there was no telling how many more scarecrows might still be around and he would need to be ready to destroy them on his way to the final totem.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus nodded in agreement to Frankie's comment, he himself also thought it was intriguing. As Magnus glanced at Frankie he was sure the man's mind was probably circulating with a plethora of thoughts and ideas of what could be happening. Magnus had done a bit of research himself, especially thinking that it was probably something along the lines of his actual race being changed or added on to, to his knowledge what he could do was something along the lines of what dwarves were naturally capable of, including some of his cousins. However, he wasn't sure, not yet anyway. There would still be a few oddities or unusual things that would have to happen beforehand for him to be sure, and right now wasn't the time to test such theories.
As the ground rumbled beneath him, Magnus did as Frankie shouted, bracing himself in the form of a stance. Magnus extended his right leg, bending it slightly, and planted his left leg firmly on the ground with a bend as well, he straightened his back and brought his hands forward, his paintbrushes placed tightly within his finger's grasps. As he noticed what Frankie was trying to do with his golems he happily obliged, jumped allowing the apes to easier pick him up off the ground, and with their grip being launched into the air Magnus had to resist yelping in joy, though the feeling of the air wrapping and whipping through his hair this was no time for enjoyment. His eyes seemed to shine with excitement, and Fantelo purred from his shoulder. With a smile and whisper of a single word; "soon". Fantelo seemed to gleam with excitement as Magnus's mana boiled over in a spur of excitement as Franklin's next spell took hold.
As four large eagles took their weight underneath them, Magnus landed on the large bird golem, he replied to Frankie as he took in the sight of the ground from atop his golems, the feeling of flying atop the golems was exhilarating. A large grin could be seen on his face, his mana began to bellow outward as Frankie spoke. "I see, I see. Very well, if flight gives us the advantage then flight it is," Magnus spoke, although he had no spells that would allow him for flight to his knowledge he got the feeling that such a notion would soon change.
Magnus mana seemed to brighten his eyes, his silvery-blue mana wrapped around his paintbrush bursting into a barrage of different colors as sparks of paint began to burst from their tips. Much like before when inspiration had struck Magnus he seemed to go into a trance-like state, his arms and painting began to work on its own, his spur of inspiration seemed to overtake every fiber of him, however, he was still conscious, still aware of the situation around him, although this time Magnus knew without a shadow of a doubt that he could entrust the situation to Frankie until he was done, the Green Mantis had already proven himself an extremely capable mage, and in Magnus's eyes, he was an extremely dependable companion. As the paint began to release from the tips of his paintbrush it took on the color of light greens, hues of blues, pinks, oranges, light greys, blacks, and dark and lighter shades to complement it. Giving the drawing more detail the paint would create the visage of three swans. He'd muse the words "Life Art: Vibrant Cygnets" and with them the swans would flutter open their wings with a flourish.
He let his body slide off Frankie's golem only for one of his swans to quickly circle around as he did so, the swan would catch Magnus in his shortfall, before flapping sending him back into the sky. "Splitting up it is, be safe Frankie, when all is said and done let's rendezvous back at this spot!" Magnus shouted back, his swans turned and began to fly in a V-Formation, Fantelo leaped off Magnus's shoulders and onto a small gap in front of the swan, with a meow of excitement. Magnus made his way toward the foremost totems in the opposite direction of Frankie.
From his height above atop his swans, Magnus could see two more totems gleaming in the moonlight, considering Frankie had destroyed two he felt it was only right that he destroy the other two. Magnus flew and as he did more scarecrows began to gather and flock together from the various locations of the field, grouping up into a swarm they tried furiously to shoot sharpened tipped vines out at him, but Magnus and his swans were able to dodge them thanks to their distance and speed. Fantelo once again would meow in excitement as two of the totems came closer into view. Magnus began to draw once again with his paintbrush, especially as he looked around the scarecrows seemed to imitate something from both him and Frankie, grasping one of their fellow scarecrows in a mixture of their vines before launching it outward directly toward Magnus. He sent the two of his swans out, and they'd bring their wings in, dive-bombing toward the ground before extending their wings right before reaching the ground, with a flap they'd reduce their speed and angle their long necks out the grasp the totem within their beaks before clamping down on them to crumble them into shattered remains.
When the launched scarecrow came crashing toward him, Magnus met it had one with an outstretched fist and the beak of his golem, crashing through it he was momentarily blinded, the scarecrows had shown a bit of intelligence and learning which told Magnus something else was behind these things, even more so than before now he had definitive proof. Either it was a very powerful mage or some form of magical creature. Magnus let his legs grip around the swan loosen, his body slid around with a bit of strength from him nudging his body to the left, his body would fall around to the bottom side of the swan his body held upright by the strength of his legs, in which he'd increase his grip. The purple paint of his most utilized spell against these creatures took hold but as he flew further toward the scarecrows that had just launched one of the others, Magnus let loose his spell. "Wicked Evening!" Were the words Magnus shouted as the balled thin lines of paint came crashing into three of the scarecrow.
However, two of them had barely managed the time to block, using and intertwining the vines to create a form of barrier. Thus the two who managed to block had been damaged and stunned but not yet destroyed. That is until with a shouted command Magnus's now non-occupied swans had circled back and much like how they swooped in to destroy the totems did the same with the scarecrows, digging their beaks into the pumpkin heads and ripping them to shreds with their talons, before fluttering back into the air. Magnus's swan would do a quick spin in the air as Fantelo gripped his claws into it to hold on, Magnus loosened the group on his legs, with two twirls one to put Magnus back on its back and another to flip them all upright he was once again flying freely on the back of his swans with glee in his eye. As he flew back to the designated meeting spot. Keeping an eye out for more enemies as he did so.

[attr="class","frankieimage"]❝Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done!❞
[attr="class","frankiescroll"] Frankie had been pleased to see that Magnus knew how to follow through with a plan. They had worked together now two days in a row attempting to solve the mystery of the scarecrows and the mad mage had gotten to see only a small sample of the other man's magic. Although he knew the versatility of Paint as an Element he didn't know the full capabilities of the spellcaster behind the magic. Each mage was different and even those with identical Elements could wield their magic with very differing approaches. Franklin had not known the other man had the ability to create golems with the capability of flight like he could, but he was pleased to see it. It meant that he could recall the eagle that he had initially been using to support Magnus and instead use it for his own efforts. Still, had the ability to do so previously why hadn't he summoned the swans in previous nights? He had noticed similar behavior when Magnus had summoned the wolves the night before. Could he be discovering new spells in the middle of combat? Franklin had heard of such things before so it wasn't impossible though not very common. Still, he supposed if it worked that was all that mattered. Perhaps if there was time later he might question Magnus on the inspiration for the spells. It would help further his own research on the effects of being pushed to one's limit in the development on magic. How much of the specialization for a wizard was born from personality, birth, or the desire to see it come to fruition during moments of need?
In any case they had a concrete plan. Frankie had moved to deal with the other totem bringing along his golems and Magnus had spotted his own targets. They would rendezvous back at the spot they had broken from, though if everything went according to Frankie's calculations there wouldn't be much need for a rendezvous. A plan like that implied they might need to be on the move right away and as far as Frankie surmised he believed that destroying the totems would just about end all the immediate problems. From there they could figure out their next step more calmly. Watching Magnus act true to his theory the scarecrows seemed very intent in stopping the other man from destroying the remaining two totems. Four of the scarecrows had acted in a concentrated effort to stop Magnus, but they had proven completely incapable of stepping up to the task. The use of flight gave Magnus a crucial edge from what Frankie could see and in the end it not only led to the destruction of the scarecrows who had been acting as guardians, but also the totems which had been their charges.
The moment the totems had been destroyed it was as if the negative energy that had been surrounding the farm since the first moment Frankie had come upon it had vanished. To the best of Frankie's knowledge the most reasonable hypothesis was that the totems were acting as a mark denoting some sort of Curse or Hex that had been put on the place. Magic that had likely acted to provide sickness to the animals and wife of the farm and that would have likely ultimately resulted in the crops rotting and the grounds growing fallow. A foul area of magic that was either designed to harm the family or perhaps convince them to pack their things and vacate for better lands. It was still hard to figure out the motives though of such a magic. Was it a competitor looking for revenge or to purchase the soon to be vacant land on the cheap? Or was it some other entity with motives not yet known? A question that would be resolved, but not until what few scarecrows were gone. Thankfully, only three scarecrows out of the original numbers remained and there seemed to be no sign of reinforcements. Whether they were limited in number to begin with or without the totems there was nothing to breathe life into them Frankie would research later. Now he would busy himself with tidying up the remaining forces.
Without the totems to protect the remaining scarecrows seemed to be in disarray. On principle constructs had limited intelligence and these had likely been tasked with the duty of protecting the totems and attacking anyone who might threaten them. Without the totems they were missing a crucial element of their commands. Now was the perfect moment to strike before they received new orders. Not only that, but with the destruction of the previous scarecrows is previously restrained Apes had now been freed and could rejoin Frankie and the rest of his golems in the attack. With a simple mental instruction all of his eagles and apes were sent charging towards the scarecrows. To the credit of the remaining straw men they were able to recover relatively quickly from the shock of losing the things they were designed to protect. Arms plunged into the ground causing vines and roots to shoot up from the earth and wrap around the apes. The land bound simians had no chance to dodge or move out of the way and the scarecrows proved to be the stronger in their design. Brambles creaked, but none snapped or broke against the Carbon Matter. In fact it was the golems who snapped and broke, their bodies first revealing cracks before they ultimately shattered under the pressure of the vines and crumbled into nothingness. Even as their bodies fell away and drifted off into loose Carbon Matter the eagles fell upon the remaining scarecrows. Just as they had the first group they proved to be more the up for the task of destroying the scarecrows and they tore them apart with their beaks and claws. In seconds the fight was over and nothing remained of the creepy scarecrows that had started this all by mysteriously moving on their own.
The work done Frankie rejoined Magnus at the meeting point they had designated. "Your golems are a curious design, very elegant in their nature. I would be intrigued in comparing them to my eagles to see if form has any impact on function for a golem, but I do not thing we have the time for that." Frankie knew that when it came to form size certainly could make a difference. After all, a large golem was better at serving as transportation then a small one while a tiny golem would serve better as a scout and spy then a massive construct ever could. However, was that all there was to golems? It certainly didn't seem like it should be the case. Certainly the design of a golem should have a greater impact then that? Even as he flew to the area though he could just make out on the outskirts of the farm something moving, something possibly retreating. It looked like whatever had orchestrated this attack had to reveal itself in the process. Now was their chance! "Look, in the distance! I believe we have our perpetrator. If we lose it now we aren't likely to get such a second chance. With some quick calculations I believe that both our flying mounts should be sufficient to follow whatever it is and find out what might be behind all this. Having destroyed the totems the farm should be safe enough for now. Haste is of the essence!" Frankie spoke rapidly to Magnus, not wanting to lose sight of whatever it was slithering away. He'd hold out long enough to make sure Magnus had no objections. Then, having made his plans clear he urged his eagles onward and they took off after the fleeing culprit. There was a small probability that whatever was behind this was attempting to lure them away to strike out at the farm once it was not defended, but it was a calculated risk that Frankie was willing to take. They had already mitigated it to the best of their ability and without seizing this opportunity there was a greater probability that everything they had done up to this point had been for naught. Math was on his side! Besides, he was looking forward to finally unraveling this mystery!

Frankie compliments Magnus' golems commenting on how they might differ from his own birds before noticing the fleeing tendrils. Makes an argument to give chase and then does so, exiting the thread.

[attr="class","temppost"] Magnus flew atop of his Swan, his mood was chipper as he had discovered a new spell, especially one that had granted him a direct means of flight. He had always enjoyed flying on a broom, though most brooms weren't fancy, elegant, or flattering in his opinion. Especially with the way, the wind tore at his hair and suit, but on these cygnets, he felt calm and vibrant, much as the spells name implied, not only were they a bit flashy, but they also had the added benefit of drawn plumage, long necks, and wings which helped cut down on all the wind that would otherwise make his suit and hair disheveled, and as Fantelo sat in front of Magnus on the golem he could tell the painting spirit was enjoying the ride just as much as he was. He turned to Franklin as he spoke, "Thank you, although I would be interested in the same, I have to agree that you are right. It's a pity but the job comes first." Magnus stated as he urged his golems to fly as fast as possible, with him leading the pack and the other two flying in the form of a V formation behind him.
Magnus's eye glanced in the direction of the distance as dictated by Frankie, the man had good vision, and it was until Magnus glanced down that he saw vines retreating from the wooden scarecrows, they seemed to stretch back toward the forest, in the direction pointed out previously by Frankie, it was clear they were on to something and it seemed they would finally becoming upon the true culprit of this event filled night. "Right you are, Frankie," Magnus bellowed out to Frankie, raising his voice to accommodate for the wind thrashing at their voices. Right now they were on the path to finally being done with this whole debacle, and Magnus for one was eager to see it through, especially because the sooner all this was done, the sooner he could take a nice relaxing bath in his home, and get his clothing washed. All of this was exciting, more so than anything he had been through previously besides a few choice life experiences, but it was taking a toll on his patience, and on his clothing and hair, and that he could just no longer stand for. Though he wasn't one to be too vain, at least not always, it still came into play with him occasionally, and much like Frankie's statement, they couldn't afford to let this opportunity slip away, especially when those scarecrows and beast could've put many lives at risk, but something still tingled in the back of Magnus mind, this situation was odd, and he couldn't help but wonder just what would possess, a creature to attack the likes of the farmer and his family.

Rank & Element: Junior | Paint Class & Type: Imbued | Magic Trinket Magic Specializations: Golem Creation Appearance & Lore: Click For Image A Magical Ornate Paint Brush Set that comes with five 4-inch Paint Brushes in total all with different widths and styled bristles. The paintbrushes are ornate in design, with swirls of small patterns and silver in color. They have purple bristles that fade into white at their tips. Nothing is too special about these paintbrushes on their own except they are sturdy and have no need for a palette as they are capable of producing any color of paint on their own with a small infusion of mana. These paintbrushes were a gift to Magnus from his mother when he was younger and as such he cherishes them dearly but also uses them for his magic.
