The sound of her bedroom door being opened roused Victoria from her slumber as one of her families' retainers entered her room and opened the drapes, allowing the bright, early morning sun to stream through the windows into her room. "Good Morning my lady. As you requested, it's currently an hour past sunrise. Alice is currently putting out your dress for the day and I've drawn your bath filled with rose-scented oil.” Beatrice stated, curtsying to her mistress. Slipping her bare soles into her slippers, Victoria rose from her bed making her way towards the bathroom giving a "thank you" to both Beatrice and Alice before she shut the door and slipped into the bath.
She gave a pleased sigh as the heat from the bath seeped into her body. It was at just the right temperature that she liked early in the morning and she would love to spend at least an hour in here but sadly couldn't as there was far too much that she had to do today. To start with, there was the exploration mission that she had signed up for that would have her working alongside Magnus, Griswold Cromwell, and a member of the Green Mantis squad. When she had first heard about the attacks against the peasants in the forsaken region, she hadn't cared all that much about it. Don't get her wrong, she believed that the Clover Kingdom would and should retaliate against them lest these barbarians get delusions of grandeur and decide to try to move more inland but she simply saw no reason to involve herself. Then word reached her that some of the foreigners were necromancers and her interest was immediately peaked. That was why when the opportunity came for volunteers for first contact with the foreigners, she had jumped at the chance to, feeling that she would either get a chance to speak with them or expand her knowledge on her wraith magic.
Finishing up in the bath, she took a towel and began drying herself off before putting on her bathrobe and heading back out where her two retainers were waiting to help her get ready for the day. As Beatrice began to dry her hair and Alice helped her put on her stockings, Victoria thought of the other major event that she had coming up. Before she would leave for her expedition, she had called a family meeting to give her proposal of helping build up one of the nearby towns that had been ravaged by the daemon attacks. They were already helping with the rebuilding process but Victoria felt that they could do more and take this opportunity to set themselves as a leading power within the community itself and expand on the town itself since it was in a prime location to be taken advantage of. It was going to be an uphill battle but one that she was confident that she would be able to sell her idea and get approval.
Once she was finished getting dressed, Victoria turned to look at herself in the full-length mirror; admiring her appearance. She had chosen to go with a black, full-length skirt that reached down to her ankles, complete with a striped bow on the back with the ends slipped around her waist to end at her calves. She also wore a ruffled corset underdress complete with a black ruffled open-buttoned blazer. She had secured her new jade trinket around her waist as well as another plain black bow around her neck before affixing a top hat on the right side of her hair. To finish things off, she wore a pair of durable, black heeled walking boots. She quite liked this look, having immediately snatched it up from the mannequin when she had seen it at the store.
"Begin packing for the expedition trip while I'm out. I expect that I'll be away for at least 3 weeks so be sure to pack enough supplies to last for that long as well as numerous different flavors of tea. Pack my tea set as well. I'll be back with some wilderness supplies so be sure to leave room for a tent and sleeping bag as well." she stated, turning back to look at the two servant girls before walking to her bedroom door as she fixed her blue rose mantle. Of course my lady. they both stated, curtsying as she closed the door and made her way downstairs to the dining room. The only person that was down there happened to be her mother; dressed in her usual white dress with butterfly wings, getting her before moving to sit down and began to eat the blueberry crepes that was set in front of her. A loud puff sounding off to her right caused a sigh to leave exit her mouth revealing that it had not been her mother sitting at the table but instead her father in disguise as usual.
"You thought it was your mother, but it was I, your father, all along!" he bellowed in his usual exuberant tone. "Papa, do you ever get bored of doing that?" she stated in an exasperated tone, finishing her first crepe before moving on to a second. "I'll stop once you are able to tell when I'm in disguise from a glance. Besides, your mother enjoys my exuberance." he stated before turning back to his food. The pair continued to eat in silence before her father spoke up again, his tone serious. "Are you prepared for the meeting tomorrow? You know that you have my mother and my support but it will be a hard sell for your grandfather and the elders for this. They will just see it as the ambitions of a foolish and selfish young child." he stated bluntly, making eye contact with her. Victoria finished her last bite, dabbing at the corners of her mouth so as to not stain her lipstick before speaking.
"They'd be partially correct about my wanting to do this for selfish reasons. It would look good in my bid to become captain of the Blue Roses but ultimately this will benefit the family. There's only but so much that we can grow here in Raque and it's time that we start expanding in other venues to bring even more prestige and wealth into the family." she stated, not wanting to get too deeply into things right now. She had a few points that she planned to bring up and had thought of counterarguments that could be brought up.
Noticing that her father's mouth opens; no doubt to begin grilling her about her points, but preemptively she cut him off, rising from her seat and informing one of the footmen to prepare her carriage so that she can head into town, joined by a servant. "Bye Papa, I'll see you later in the day." she said as she quickly moved over to his side of the table, kissing his cheek before making her way out the door and into the carriage before he could get his wits about him. The carriage made its way down the road from her family estate, passing the citizens of Raque before coming to a stop outside of an outdoor store. "I should be finished within the next hour so come back around then." she stated before heading inside, her family servant silently following behind her as she made her way inside, browsing through the aisles.
