Today wasn’t particularly snazzy but Nix felt as though she should at least try and maintain a level of snazz that was above the norm.
Given that she was unparalleled in snazziness, which she attributed to being noble, Nix decided to venture out into the great beyond with lightness in her heart.
She dressed in a royal fashion, her cloth dress a cut above the linen that commoners used.
Wool was far too itchy for her sensitive skin and incredibly warm, which made her feel both uncomfortable and over dressed.
She made fun of half a dozen people as she left her house, the servants were familiar with this behaviour and didn’t overly mind, although Nix wasn’t particularly mean when she did so which was nice of her.
Having been present in Raque for official Silver Eagle business, she was aware of half a dozen things to do that might have remotely interested her.
There was a grand commotion in the city of Raque, although it wasn’t over something very interesting, Nix decided to let her attention linger for a moment longer.

Targets made of straw; embellished with Bull’s eyes, drew her curiosity and when it was announced that there would be a competition of sorts she clapped her hands together quite gladly.
With the circumstances proposed, she was obviously at a disadvantage.
Ranged magic.
Although she did not possess anything of the sort, which disheartened her, Nix did however propose to the man running the competition that she could make it more interesting.
Reaching into her bag and taking out some candles, a sandwich and a red crayon, Nix’s grin widened into a devious smile.
She modelled some wax into candles, she garnered the crowd's attention by casting a spell that gave the target flight.
The Babylonian candles she used were special, when they melted they smelt like strawberries which delighted the people to no end.
If she could have, she would have set them on fire but that had not been received well the last time she tried, which she did twice, just to be sure it was the conflagrations that displeased them.
The contestants were few and of a similar calibre to the people that dwelt in the lower regions, their magics were unrefined and the lacklustre nature of their elemental prowess was imaginable.
They toted their grimoires with the uneasiness of beginners, and while Nix was giggling to herself about them, she did not however give them any pointers.

After establishing that the targets would be levitating, she began to sway them left from right as unto their bewitchment was her whim.
The first few ranged attacks missed, but we’re of little substance so the crowds were easily sheltered by Nix moving the targets into their paths.
Rookies hitting targets was a mediocre display, but it was at least an interesting test of her skills in control.
Reckless casting stole the show when the civilians watching pelted them with heinous commentary, some things they said Nix couldn’t; with good conscience, put in her report.
Had they been better at hitting the targets, perhaps the crowd would have lingered and said nice things, but as it were their numbers dwindled and the vehemence of their comments became more discourteous.
Nix huffed and puffed shimmering clouds of flame, sparks and embers cackled from the sides of her mouth and her nostrils, this intimidated a few of the crowd members into being quiet though.
She directed the affair incomparably, however, the contrary resulted and the crowd thinned, their numbers diminishing.
Igniting the target and perilously allowing the water mage to douse them gave some of the more serious civilians looks of concern, which baffled and confused Nix who was having a good time.
The smoke billowing around the area was pushed away by a wind mage, so the displeasure of the crowd subsided.
Nix wasn’t sure if he was an earthen mage or was just throwing rocks, but he did his part too.
There we’re a few no-too-serious calls of arson, but Nix being incredibly clever said she had a permit, which she may or may not have had on her person.

” No, no, no.”
Nix berated them, stomping her foot in displeasure but still carrying herself with an air of refinement.
She pulled funny faces at them to hurt their feelings, but some of them laughed as she explained with a finger pulling her bottom eyelid down, and her tongue poking out of her mouth, ” I am the target, try to hit me!”
Things had turned sharply as she attempted to get the crowd more enthused, offering her own body as a target for the ranged magic users.
She ran around as quickly as she could, some of the contestants; of which there were two, uneasily attempted to do as proffered.
To little avail.
Although the crowd did find it humorous, it seemed distasteful to smite a young noble with any spell of any sort.
She began cheering her performance exuberantly, infecting some of the crowd participants, allowing them to enjoy the competition more wholeheartedly with her antics.
If only the competition hadn’t been so underwhelming, thought Nix, if only she knew ranged attack magic, she mused.
She hoisted one of the targets over her head and threw it clear over a house.
This was the only ranged attack she possessed, and it made it difficult for the other contestants to hit their mark.
Brandishing her immense strength was enough to surprise the crowd and the other contestants, the little girl; Nix wore a Silver Eagle mantle and a look of scornful displeasure, showing no real brawn to merit such strength.
Their reactions were making her angry but she persevered relentlessly.
Storming off, the crowd applauded her efforts, as she mumbled several unladylike things under her breath about the humans, she devised a way to forge her report to the archivist about her efforts.

Nix selected her favourite crayons and went to work, paperwork that is.
Had she not snapped so many of her crayons in her rage, Nix may have drawn pictures on the papers.
After setting a few pages alight so the papers weren’t so heavy to carry, she had effectively summarised how boring the people of Raque were.
Her aim was to get better work elsewhere, something Nix included in her report was that she was exceptionally snazzy.
But if The Archivist had not picked that up after having met her, she wasn’t going to be a sore thumb about it.
These papers she kept for herself, to not forget what she had learned about her fellow noblemen.
The few remaining, not scorched papers were smudged with ashes and some parts were ominously omitted, to not incur the wrath of any negative black stars.
Nix herself hadn’t hurt anybody, but a few unkind things had been said during the event which Nix felt she should not write in crayon.
Worrying about the Archivist’s sensibilities, she wrote those things in charcoal to allow the words to fall off the paper with a shake of her hands when delivering them.
She was not without her sense of artifice, devious as she was, her snazziness certainly rescued the competition from being completely boring.
No houses were burned in this mission, nor were any naughty words spoken by Nix Lenore.
She certainly thought she deserved a participation award for her presence, and Archivist is a nice person, or so it says in her report.
