Work was work. That was all there was too it. Her eyes glared into the verdant green. Find bear, kill bear. She found it a bit odd that they were willing to dish out so much coin for mercenaries rather than hiring a local hunter to take care of this. Did they not have a magic knight squadron based here? Was it not their responsibility to keep the populace safe? Did they think themselves to high to deal with a peasant's problems? Shameful, yes, but work was work. That was all there was to it. Dead leaves and old branches cracked under each of Imra's heavy steps, her pale skin glistened with sweat. She wasn't sure how long the both of them had been hunting this thing, but it felt like it had least been an hour, with likely more ahead if the hunts she had gone on back home were anything to compare it to. Though, this wasn't as much a hunt as it was a slaughter. She had neither the will nor the tools to carve up and clean something like a bear. It was a shame and a waste. In the end, its head was worth money, and that was good enough for her. "How good are you at tracking, kid?" Then there was the case of her partner in this little adventure. He was young, but she knew it was a bad idea to go after such a beast on her own. He was young, but he seemed competent with his skills. She liked that. She could tell he wasn't afraid to get his hands bloody. A very valuable asset to be sure. As long as he didn't get in her way. Those types, she was certain, were more common than she usually gave them credit for. "Oh?" The woman stopped in her tracks and squatted to the ground. Yes, she thought she had something. I press mark in the ground, not very worn down, but she wasn't sure how old it was, but the track mark was quite clean, the edges not yet worn down by the passage of a few days. The arch of the toes was flatter than the ones that she knew how to hunt, and the claws a bit further out. Maybe this was it? "I think I have something. Looks big." WC: 391 |
