Ever since the Shattering, there have been those that no longer believe the magic knights of the clover kingdom nor the church of clover can keep them safe. As such, they have begun worshipping the demons instead, believing that it will keep them safe from their new overlords when they inevitably win and take over the country. As this is a great wrong that needs correcting, the church has sent you to root out the source of the problem and get rid of it, bringing the lost sheep back into the arms of the church of clover and out of the clutches of demon worshippers.

Just another day of working for the Clover Kingdom and Eliza wasn’t sure what the day had in store for her so when she had risen from bed after taking the steps to clean up her room in the Golden Dawn Base and make herself presentable with her mantle tied around her waist to keep her arms free. She went down to the mission board and located what tasks had been assigned to her for the time being. Looking for her name she noticed that she was once more to head back to the Forsaken Region and assist the local church there with hunting down some Daemon Worshippers that had taken up refuge in the area after the last rising of the heretical race. “Finally a little bit of action to knock some of that rust off.” Eliza said to no one in particular but as she kept reading the mission details she noticed that any killing of the traitors was seen as an automatic failure and that they were to do their best to restrain them or bring them in alive in some way.
“Of course we have to save the poor sheep.” Eliza sighed in annoyance, there was something off about trying to save those that had willingly turned against the kingdom and serve the very people that had openly tried to destroy the place they live, but that was what the Church was for. Saving those who had lost their way, Shrugging as it was just her job to help out Eliza begun to make her way to the meeting place that her and whoever the church would be sending from their side. This made the young Golden Dawn Knight think of the Deacon that she had not to long ago worked with in the same region, a Thaddeus Wilhelm. Short man with caramel skin and very kind eyes. “At least if they are the one I will work with I will enjoy myself even if we don’t cause a lose of life.” Eliza said with a smile as she had quite enjoyed her bodyguard work of the last mission they had done and she had seen how committed Thaddeus was to the Church’s teachings and desire to take care of those less fortunate. She didn’t agree with it but it wouldn’t be something that the Jaegar would hold against others.
“Now where is that damn Tavern.” She muttered to herself as she entered the settlement with her Mantle hidden as she figured it would help keep her disguised from any potential Daemon Worshippers till the other party showed up. No reason to tip them off quite yet, so for now Eliza blended in with the other villagers and enjoyed herself a small drink engaging in small talk and gathering what information she was able to from those around her in the time she would spend waiting for her partner to show up.

The Forsaken Region.. This had seemed to be a location in which he had been spending much of his time as of late. Far more time had been spent here than time spent ta the Church that he had been assigned to. The reasoning behind his being sent out here so often was quite understandable but that didn't mean that Thaddeus hadn't been at least a little disappointed in how little he would actually be able to help the people of Nairn. At least he was able to help out in some capacity though. That had been enough to really get the Deacon stirred up in preparation of the following events.
Earlier in the week, Thaddeus had received a letter from one Prisha Santa Maria, the Spring Bishop. From his understanding, the Spring Bishop was the one that had directed those of the Church of Gnome in what tasks to undertake. There was no reason for him to go against such an order, given that this was how most of the Church's affairs had been handled, and as such he would head on out to the Forsaken Region as directed. The contents of the letter had spoken on the fact that he was to be assigned to heading out to another one of the local towns of the Fosaken Region to seek out demon worshippers. Under no circumstances was he to kill these demon worshippers, which he was completely fine with. There were several reasons as to why a member of the Church of Clover shouldn't go around killing people but Thaddeus had understood that the main reason behind this particular order was so as to ensure that they could gather information from those that they were to capture. Any information that they could dig up regarding those that were spreading this demon propaganda would assist the Church in the long run.
Once Thaddeus had understood what his orders were, he would send out a letter to the Golden Dawn. This letter had been a rather simple request for someone that he had worked with previously to assist him. One Eliza Jaeger. From their last interaction, Thaddeus had felt as though her assistance could be quite valuable. She had naturally been quite capable as a member of the Golden Dawn but also, Thaddeus had simply enjoyed her presence. She was an interesting one and assuredly helpful when it comes to the matter of dealing with the people. 'Hopefully she is willing to come out and help me again.' After having wrapped up his preparations, Thaddeus would begin to make his way out to the desired location.
It wouldn't take all that long for Thaddeus to traverse through the Common Region and into the Forsaken Region thanks to his broom of flying. Now that he had arrived, he was going to have to look for the tavern that he stated he would meet whoever claimed the quest at. He was really hoping that it would be the person that he has asked for but there wasn't really any real way for him to know who had come, until he had gotten there. The young Deacon would eventually make his way into the designated tavern and would begin to look around for anyone that he might recognize. Unlike Eliza, he hadn't thought to come in anything other than his usual garb. As such, he would enter the tavern in his vestments, grabbing the attention of many of the tavern-goers. "Hm... I wonder where they could possibly be."

Seeing as the Spring Deacon had spent several hours at this point wandering about the hushed little town, that had been the site of demonic influences, Thaddeus had figured that he might as well take care of things on his own. He wasn't quite sure where it was that Eliza had gone but she hadn't seemed to be within the tavern that they had decided to meet up at. Perhaps she was in some other settlement at the moment? Honestly, there wasn't really any way that he could tell. With this being the case, Thaddeus could only hope that she would show up at some point or the other. Of course with everything in life, the longer that the Spring Deacon had spent meandering about town and looking for Eliza, the more likely it was that trouble was going to find him. And oh did it find him.
Word had spread throughout the settlement that there had been a clergyman passing throughout the area. His physical description and even his name had been shared as he had previously been asking around to see if he could come to locate some Eliza woman. This Thaddeus Wilhelm... The worshippers of Infernis certainly didn't like the fact that he had been poking his nose into their business and asking all sorts of questions. In their eyes, there was only one real way to go about this situation. They were going to have to find him, put an end to the threat that he poses, and offer up his corpse to their new master so that they may find themselves within its good graces.
Another hour would pass as the demon worshippers had managed to convene and discuss their plans to wipe out the Spring Deacon. They aimed to light him ablaze, even going as far as setting this town aflame alongside him if that was what it took. For whatever reason, they had deemed his as too much of a threat to leave be and would immediately begin to pursue him upon their meeting coming to an end. Within almost no time, the demon worshippers had managed to find the rumored Deacon. This was their time to shine and they weren't about to lose the advantage that they currently had. To start, the demon worshippers would place upon their faces these crude masks bearing demonic markings carved into them. From there they would begin to launch a trio of bolts of fire that had been shaped to resemble the demonic runes that had been imbedded into their masks. Each of these bolts of fire had been headed in Thaddeus' direction. "For Inernis!"
Having heard the battle cry from afar, Thaddeus would turn to see what it was that had been going on. The sight that had been just before his very eyes had caused him to trip over his feet and fall onto his ass out of fear. The bolts of fire had still been heading his way and he had immediately begun to panic. Almost instinctively in this moment, Thaddeus would pat on his chest with the side of his left hand while stating his name aloud. "Thaddeus!" Just as the bolts of flame had begun to wash over him, a slab of Carbon Matter would appear before the Spring Deacon. Said Carbon Matter would than jolt backwards and slam into his chest. Once the slab had managed to come into contact with his body, it would wrap around the Spring Deacon and become a suit of armor, thus outfitting him in a matter of seconds. Upon the flames impacting upon the suit of armor, Thaddeus would jolt further back in pain. While the suit of carbon armor had thankfully prevented the brunt of the damage from taking him out, the Spring Deacon had still managed to be hit with a burst of the final firebolt. Searing pain was what he had been expecting to feel in this moment but thankfully his mana shield managed to hold up. This whole ordeal... He was going to put an end to it.

Even as the smoke had begun to rise from the collision that had just occurred, the Spring Deacon hadn't given in to desire or chosen to give up. As far as the demonic worshippers had been concerned, they had just removed a major obstacle from play. They, however, were quite wrong. 'You have got to be kidding me..? This is what they choose to do?! Here and now? This?!' To be disrespected in such a way in front of the denizens of this quaint little town when he had come here to show them that the Church of Clover could protect them.. Not only had the demons influenced these cult worshippers but now they were causing these worshippers to perform such acts in the middle of a town. For the Spring Deacon, this had been the last straw. Whilst he would ensure that these demonic worshippers hadn't been killed, he was going to unleash his full fury in ways that only he could. His eyes would grow half lidded as the smile that usually dawns his face would fade completely. Cold. Calculating. Everything that this father had tried to break him down to become. This was the state that the Spring Deacon had found himself left in at the moment.
A crowd would begin to gather around the four individuals as each of the denizens of this quaint little town had decided to see what was going on. They were scared, and with good reason, but they wished to know how things would end. In their eyes, this was a battle between the Church of Clover and this growing cult. Whosoever managed to come out on top here... Well they are likely the individuals that would attempt to claim the hearts of the people. They hadn't been quite sure what to do here, other than watch, and their fear wouldn't allow for them to take any major actions. The only real question that would remain here had been whether or not the Spring Deacon had still been alive.
Taking a moment to sit up, Thaddeus would pat himself on the chest with the side of his left hand once more. "Thaddeus." Upon stating his name once more, another slab of Carbon Matter would appear before Thaddeus, much like before. Said Carbon Matter would than jolt backwards and meld itself around his body, ultimately becoming yet another suit of armor. The demon worshippers had noticed this and were preparing to unleash another volley of firebolts at him when he had begun to undertake a secondary task. The Spring Deacon would now raise his right hand in a rather dramatic fashion whilst stating but a single word. "Oread." Upon doing so, the carbon matter from just ahead of him shifts and shapes itself into an 8 meter tall carbon golem. Seeing such a thing had begun to worry the demonic worshippers and would cause them to thrust their volley of attacks in the general direction of Thaddeus and his carbon golem. Two of the firebolts had slammed into the Spring Deacon while an additional one would slam into that of the golem. Even with that being said though, both the golem and the Deacon had remained standing. This being the case, Thaddeus would mentally command his golem to rush towards the masked demonic worshippers and to slam one of them into a nearby building. Given its massive size, it didn't take too long before the Golem would complete the task, swatting aside one of the demonic worshippers and leaving their two allies looking rather worried.

Even with the fact that one of these demonic worshippers had been knocked aside and rendered unconscious, there had still been two of them remaining and prepared to take on the Spring Deacon. Given that this was the first time that he had to fight without a partner, albeit the golems technically count as partners in some sense, Thaddeus was beginning to grow more calculated. He couldn't afford to lose here and allow for this cult to spread. As not only a Wilhelm but a Deacon of the Church of Gnome, he was meant to be a shield for the people. Even if it would mean his death, he wouldn't allow for these individuals to escape from here.
In this moment, the demonic worshippers had two things in which they were going to need to decide. They could either run and regather their strength, despite having lost their ally, or they could attempt to bring everyone here down with them. As unfortunate as it was, they had decided to go with the latter. Seeing as they had been facing two enemies on separate fronts, the demonic worshippers had decided to take the Deacon and the Golem on on their own. For the individual that had been the closest to the carbon golem, they would begin to light their fists ablaze in raw and burning fury. It would have been a beautiful sight to behold if it wasn't for the fact that this flame had been attached to such a devious sinner. Once these flames had been lit, the demonic follower would begin to bull rush their way towards the carbon golem.
The command that the carbon golem had been given previously had successfully accomplished and as such, it had no commands at the moment. Not at first anyways. Having seen that the carbon golem was going to be attacked, Thaddeus would mentally command the golem to swat this individual away as well. This would lead to a rather unfortunate series of events for the demonic worshipper in question. The fists of the two organisms would collide and a shockwave would emit from between them. This shockwave was something that Thaddeus had seen occur previously when something similar had occurred in the past. And much like last time, the results following the shockwave had been the fact that the carbon golem had been rendered destroyed and its opponent had been sent flying back into a wall of one of the many buildings nearby. All in all, after having been hit with such a powerful blow, the demonic worshipper would find themselves unconscious.
Whilst this had been happening though, the other demonic worshipper hadn't just been playing around. No, this demonic worshipper, the remaining demonic worshipper, had begun to close the distance in on the Spring Deacon, much like their companion had done with the carbon golem. They had deduced that the Spring Deacon had been incapable of close combat, given the fact that they had been utilizing their golem to fight for them. This would allow for the masked cultist to close the distance between the two of them before their fist had been lit ablaze and would slam into the Deacon's stomach. For perhaps the second time in his life, Thaddeus' mana shield had broken and the Deacon himself had been sent flying back once more. This whole thing had been so embarrassing... but it was almost over. And if nothing else, the cold and quite rage that had been dwelling within the Deacon had begun to rise. So much so that Thaddeus had refused to allow this man to escape from his clutches. Without really even getting off of the ground, Thaddeus would begin to whistle softly whilst flicking his left index finger in the direction of the demonic cultist. Upon doing as much, a singular chain made of carbon matter would burst forth from the ground and would entangle itself around the cultists legs. The chain itself would than root itself in the ground.

Given that the remaining demonic worshipper had been restrained by the Spring Deacon's Sacred Chains of Restraint, Thaddeus had no real reason to get off of the ground. Even with that being the case though, he had decided to roll over onto his side and push his way back up. There was nowhere for the demonic cultist to run at this point and Thaddeus had known this well. Not unless he had taken the time to destroy the carbon chain itself. Knowing this, Thaddeus would begin to make his way on over towards the demonic cultist whilst calling forth his golem once more. All that it would take was for him to raise his right hand in a rather dramatic fashion and shouts the name of this spell. "Oread." Upon doing so, the carbon matter from just ahead of him shifts and shapes itself into an eight meter tall carbon golem, giving rise to the beast that these cultists had now grown to fear. In truth, even some of the denizens of the town had begun to fear the sight of this particular golem of carbon. While it was reassuring that the Church of Clover had been capable of protecting and defending them, having to watch the carbon fist of the Church deal out justice had been a bit much for some.
Having to take on something that had easily defeated both of his allies only moments ago, the demonic cultist would begin to panic and light his feet ablaze. He would than kick away at the sacred chain of restraint, causing it to shatter into tiny bits of carbon. He had really seemed to hope that this was going to be enough for him to get away... but Thaddeus wouldn't allow for it. Upon seeing his spell shatter, Thaddeus would mentally command the golem to rush after the remaining cultist and swat at his back. Given that the eight meter tall golem had been faster than the cultist though, it would catch up to him in no time and do exactly as commanded. As far as he was aware, everything in regards to this combat had come to an end.
Cheers would emit from the crowd of people as they all had begun to rush towards the Spring Deacon. They had wanted to thank him for his help with removing the demonic worshippers from their town. Even if they hadn't technically been displaced as of yet, it was true that he was going to be removing them from this location once he had been done here. It was a tad difficult for the Spring Deacon to maneuver his way through the crowd of people but he wasn't going to just give up here. With a command to his carbon golem, Thaddeus would be lifted off of the ground and onto the golems shoulder. "As you all have seen, we the Church of Clover are on a vigilant watch. We shall ensure your safety, no matter the threat. As a proud member of the Church of Gnome, I have your back." Clearly the speaking bits of this whole thing had been a bit more difficult for Thaddeus to face in his current mood. Even though he had been doing his damnest not to show it, the Spring Deacon had still been highly enraged by everything that these people had done and stood for. A simple command would be given for the golem to gather the demonic worshippers and raise them up so that they were beside Thaddeus. The Spring Deacon would go on to bind each of these cultists in metal cuffs before having the golem simply hold them in place.
After the Spring Deacon had managed to leave the town, he would begin to escort the individuals to the closest church that had been nearby. With the assistance of the Church, Thaddeus would come to discover the fact that these cult members had been known as the Cult of Infernis. While this was surprising for him to hear, it was perhaps the best news that he could have discovered... because this wasn't the end of his dealings with the cult. One way or another, Thaddeus was going to have to bring an end to the cult altogether.
