EIVOR AURELIUS - JUNIOR 5th CLASS - BLACK BULLS
Eivor had been summoned to the city of Kiten. Kiten was a heavily fortified city located within the eastern most regions of the Clover Kingdom, directly boarding the infamous Diamond Kingdom. During the war with the Diamond Kingdom, Kiten served as an important strategic location, and even now, its significant in the time of peace has not waned. Therefore, security within Kiten has remained important as it was during the war, and for that reason, citizens and knights alike were randomly drawn to serve on Kiten’s city watch for a certain amount of time. During that raffle of service, Eivor’s name had been drawn, and it was his turn to serve as watchman for the age-old city of Kiten.
Always one to serve his Kingdom no matter the hour, Eivor for one was excited. There was no war that he needed to be worried about, and more importantly, Kiten itself happen to be a pretty stand-up place. Due to its security, strategic importance, and the raffle itself, Eivor reasoned that serving the city watch should be a walk in the park. Much easier compared to the other duties and task Eivor usually found himself doing as a magic knight. And certainly, better than being a servant and doing whatever his adoptive father wanted him to do, at least his way, Eivor could potentially have a nice and relaxing series of nights. After all, it was not like they were at war or anything like that.
Plus is something did happen; he had no doubt that he could handle it. Eivor left for Kiten early enough to arrive in the city a day before his service. He wanted to get a good sense of the layout of Kiten, and well, to explore a city that he had never been too. Before he was adopted into House Aurelius his family traveled often, usually to other countries. They had been to Hino country, where his grandparents used to live, the various regions of the Outerlands, but his parents had never traveled to common regions. At least, they never traveled with Eivor into the common regions, and when he was adopted into House Aurelius most of his time was spent in the noble regions.
So, on the first day within the city Eivor took his time exploring. Though as the day ended, Eivor reported to the barracks, and settled in with the other guards. They drank, and told stories, and one of the guards slyly remarked that he was surprised that a nobleman thrusted into duty ate and drank with the common ilk in a messy hall that stank. Eivor of coursed rolled his eyes and shrugged off the man’s subtle gab. He firmly stated that just before he became a noble, he was nothing more than common rabble like the rest of them, and added that, he didn’t prance about wearing fancy clothes like the others.
He wasn’t like some elf in the folk lore. Like his parents before him, Eivor was a hard worker, who valued his common heritage more so than the name Aurelius. Of course, Eivor did feel grateful for his adoptive father for providing him with food and a roof over his head, but with that being said, he simply did not feel comfortable with the noble rabble. They were different, and when around those noble lords in their fancy attire, he felt different. Meanwhile, among the quote on quote “common” filth and sweaty guards, Eivor felt at home, this included the unique faces found within the Black Bulls.
When they were done feasting and drinking, a bunch of men and Eivor climbed the staircase and arrived at the battlement of Kiten’s great walls. As they did this the sun started to descend down below the horizon, painting the sky in numerous hues of purple and orange, Eivor watched the sunset as he finished the mug of ale that he had stolen from a comrade. When darkness finally consumed the last remaining rays of sunlight, Eivor and the others descended from the battlements, and slept in cheap beds made from straw and furs. Though admittedly, Eivor did not sleep well. One of the guards by the name of Gorm snored so loud, that Eivor thought the city was under some sort of siege or that a terrible storm had come with horrendous thunder that shook the foundation of the barracks.
---[ooo]---
The next day, rays of sunlight bled through the windows of the barracks, irritating and rousing Eivor from his restless sleep. Bags deeper than the ocean formed underneath his eyes, and as he sat up from the bed- he did not bother to fix his messy golden blonde hair. He threw his legs over the side of the bed, planted his bare feet onto the floor, while stretching out his arms and releasing a loud yawn. Most of the guards had already left for their shift, only Gorm remained, seemingly waiting for the young Eivor to wake.
Gorm was a heavy-set man, who dressed in ragged clothes, carried a simple blacksmith hammer as a weapon, and held a beard that nearly reached down to his knees. He reminded Eivor of some sort of ancient Viking or something, and after watching Gorm get into a arm wrestling match with another guard he realized that Gorm weight was mostly muscle instead of fat.
“Owi” Gorm rose from the table that rested in the corner of the barracks. “About time that you woke up, was beginning to wonder if I need to shake you up myself."
“Would’ve woke up sooner if it wasn’t for your thunderous snoring” Eivor mutter underneath his breath, pulled his arms through the sleeves of his pecan tunic, and then popped his back with a silent groan of relief. His comment seemed to have earned Gorm’s thunderous laughter.
“Aye, I’ve been thinking about getting up with an apothecary about that” Gorm approached Eivor, in his hand he held a map and a mug of milk. Eivor took the items after pulling his boots on, clipping his belt over his waist, and pulling his head through his black bull’s cloak. “You should be having a partner with ya today, some sort of chick, I think she may be a kin of yours or something, I don’t know.”
The young magic knight cocked his eyebrow upward but said nothing. “Nonetheless, your shift will be starting in the southern most tower, just stay there for an hour or so, circle around the battlement, descend down to the street and patrol for another hour, do those things ever so often and you should be fine, can I trust you to find the tower?”
“Yea, I explored the city a bit before the start of my shift” Eivor tucked the map underneath his armpit and downed the mug of milk. Patting Eivor on the shoulder, Gorm showed him out of the barracks, watched him disappear into the street, and went back into the barracks to fix him something to eat. Eivor held no trouble in finding the southern most tower, he ascended the stairs to the very top, where a table and a chair sat empty waiting for him to rest his lazy bum in that warm wooden, and no doubt splintered, seat. Sitting in it, Eivor propped his feet onto the table, cradled his neck, and starred up into the morning sky quietly gazing at the peaceful clouds that floated by him, one by one.

"W-where are they? I have to get to them before it's too late..!"
Young Althaea Aurelius had finally managed to find herself within the well defended town of Kiten. She had come here on the orders of an elder of the Aurelius family so that she could assist one of her cousins, or so she had been told. Admittedly she hadn't known very much about this cousin of hers other than a brief description of their physical appearance and their name. The fact that this Eivor individual had been a member of the Magic Knight Squad, the Black Bulls, was also something that she had been informed of prior to her arrival. Perhaps we are getting a bit too ahead of ourselves though... It might be best to take things back about a day or so.
----------
It had been mid dawn as a knock could be heard at Althaea's door. She hadn't successfully managed to wake herself up entirely so the knock itself had been a rather unwelcome moment. She had simply wished to continue to sleep in for a bit longer but her body hadn't allowed such a thing. Instead of lying down in her bed and covering her head with a fluffy pillow like she would have preferred to have done, upon hearing the rasp of a fist upon her door, Althaea's servant training would instinctively kick in and she would immediately find herself rising from her bed and attending to the door. Whoever it had been must have needed her for some reason or another but it was likely that it was another member or servant of the family. After all, not many people would have had access to the Aurelius estate.
Without even taking a moment to check the state of her clothing, Althaea would gently open the door and offer the individual on the other side a polite smile. Yet another one of her instinctual reactions. The individual that had been standing on the other side of her door had been one of the elders of the Aurelius family, or in other words her grandfather. The elderly gentleman wouldn't go on to say very much aside from the usual good morning routine before he had handed her a folded piece of parchment. He would go on to tell her that she was going to be needed in Kiten, so that she could assist her adoptive cousin in their randomly selected duties for the city watch. Normally this wasn't the kind of thing that she would have been requested to assist with but from what the elder was saying, this was a special request from her adoptive cousins father. As an Aurelius, she had lived to please and as such had no reason to turn down the request. Not too much later, she would go out of her way to properly dress herself for the occasion before heading out to the town via a carriage that the family would prepare for her.
As unfortunate as it was, Kiten wasn't going to be the easiest place for them to reach via carriage. It wouldn't take all that long to get there but given her current location, it was likely that she wouldn't arrive until well into the next morning or so. Kiten had been a place that she had never been to before and as such, she was going to have to maneuver her way throughout the city upon arrival without really knowing where to go. An unfortunate turn of events on her end but there was nothing that she could really do about it. She was just going to have to hope that she could reach her cousin in time to assist him in his duties.
----------
Unsurprising to the young Aurelius but still something to be worried about, Althaea wouldn't arrive within Kiten a few hours later than she had initially expected. While it hadn't been that big of a deal in the long run, the fact that she had been arriving so late had left her entirely embarrassed and with her cheeks as crimson as cherry tomatoes. "Oh, I hope that he won't be too mad at me for being so late... I can't stand to have another issue with a member of the family. I've worked too hard for that to happen..!" Eventually Althaea would come to find herself making headway to the guards barracks. She was almost certain that if she was going to catch up to her cousin than she was going to find him there. It had only made sense after all, given the fact that he had been there for guard duties. Of course, by the time that she had managed to get there, Eivor hadn't been there. Another wave of anxiety would wash over the young Aurelius as she had tried to figure out what exactly she was going to do in this moment. How could she assist her cousin if she couldn't find him? Well thankfully a guard by the name of Gorm had happened to know exactly where he had just managed to head: the southern most watchtower. With this information in hand, Althaea would begin to book it across the town in hopes of reaching him in time. "I really, really need to find a way to travel faster than this.."
Eventually she would go on to find the watchtower that her cousin had supposedly been stationed within. While the watchtower itself hadn't been that menacing of a sight, the mere thought of having to climb all of those stairs after booking it across the town... It had been a rather hellish thought. "..why me?" A few moments would be taken for Althaea to catch her breath before she would begrudgingly trudge her way up the steps and to the very top of the watchtower itself. Upon reaching the top, her gaze would fall upon a single individual., There, sitting within a chair with their feet so rudely propped upon a table and their neck being cradled, had been the man that she could only assume had been her cousin. Seeing the elf acting so carefree... It had slightly put her off. This wasn't something that she was likely to share though. It would have been improper to bring it up at the moment. Perhaps if she had gotten to know them better in the future than things would be different but for now.. For now she would simply remain quiet on that particular topic. "Um... Excuse me? Are you perhaps Eivor?"

EIVOR AURELIUS - JUNIOR 5th CLASS - BLACK BULLS
As the clouds wisped by Eivor thoughts situated on what Gorm said. He silently found it ironic that two members of House Aurelius had been drawn for City Watch. It made him wonder whether they were actually drawn for city watch or had one of the House Elders manipulated things behind the scenes and volunteered him and one of his cousins. Perhaps this was some sort of political move? Or stunt to increase Eivor’s sociability with his adoptive kin? Could his father had volunteered him in some sort of way to spy on him? Or to monitor his progress and commitment to the magic knights and the Black Bulls? Eivor started to become increasingly suspicious and curious about who his partner was. Could it be a new member of House Aurelius? No, Eivor doubt that. He was after all a “bad influence” on the younger generation of House Aurelius, or so he had been told. Eivor did not really socialize with his cousins. Then again, Eivor did not really socialize with anyone.
Again, it was not the fact that Eivor did not love his adoptive cousins or cared about them, it is just, a lot of them he had nothing in common with. They either had different ambitions, beliefs that were vastly different from one another, or absolutely annoying. Then again, Eivor himself was not a social creature. Even as a kid, Eivor did not play a lot with the other children, but instead, spent most of his time alone in the woods. Even then, most of Eivor’s friends were adult, including his biological father, some other fisherman down at the docks, a couple of hunters that had befriended his father, and even some big burly men at the lumber mill. But in general, Eivor was a loner, someone who enjoyed peace and quiet, and the tranquility of his own company. To say it plain and simple, Eivor was an introvert placed in a largely extroverted family.
His partner and supposed cousin were arriving a bit late. Eivor was beginning to wonder if she had gotten lost, positioned somewhere else, or simply was skipping out on her duties. Eh, whatever the case, Eivor enjoyed being alone. Unfortunately, the Black Bulls were notably loud, rambunctious, and destructive. Making silence and solitude a rare commodity to come by, so whoever this person was could take their time. Eivor did not care. Gorm eventually came by to inform Eivor that his “partner” was running late and sat before him a platter of food as a reward for his patience. They chatted for a while, but then he disappeared to the barracks, leaving Eivor alone in the tower once again.
When he was done eating, Eivor decided that it would be best to go ahead and do a quick walk around the battlements to make sure that everything had been in order. As he expected, there was nothing of interesting occurring near the battlement, save for a beautiful view of Clover Kingdom and the border with the Diamond Kingdom. A part of Eivor wished that Gorm stayed with him, and that Gorm was his partner instead of his cousin. No offense to his cousin of course, but Gorm had been stationed in Kiten for as long as he could remember, and he had a lot of interesting stories and whatnot that Eivor found cool. After a moment or two of taking in the scenery, and leaning against the cold stone walls, Eivor returned to the tower.
Eivor found that his chair was empty, and he reclaimed it. Once again, the young magic knight propped his feet up against the wooden table, and reclined black. He rested the head of the chair against the walls of the tower to provide some sort of support, and to make sure that he would not fall or something like that. Meanwhile, Eivor folded his arms behind his head, and continued to gaze up at the heavens while whistling a tune. Eventually, he could hear someone climbing up the staircase that led to the roof of the tower, and casually tossed a lazy gaze to the entrance. A young girl, with white hair, pale skin, and basic clothing that called tribute to the attire worn by a servant.
“Oh you finally came, what took you so long?” Eivor stopped humming. After she came closer he immediately recognized who it was and groaned a little to himself. “Yea, yea, I’m Eivor Aurelius, its been a while since we’ve seen each other cous”
Of course, Eivor had saw her at family events and whatnot. But he didn’t really participate in them enough for anyone to really remember him. Eivor usually slither off into the shadows, an abandoned room, or something to escape the crowd. Honestly, he forgot her name, and decided not to ask her about it. That would be rude after all, and well, Eivor did not want to appear rude to family. "I take it the elders hooked you up with this mission, eh, cous?"

Having caught that groan that would escape from Eivor's lips, Althaea would withhold the urge to quirk her eyebrow. She hadn't known really anything about this older cousin of hers but had been asked to more or less babysit them for reasons that she couldn't really understand. As far as she could tell, she hadn't done anything in particular to upset him in the past so.. why was he acting this way towards her? This was a thought that was going to stick with her for awhile but not one that she could allow to take over the situation. That being the case, rather than ruminate on the entire ordeal, Althaea would brush past it and begin to crouch while hanging her body over her waist. "Uh... I've had to run all over this dang town to try and find you." A few heavy breaths would be taken before she would rise up once more and wipe a few beads of sweat off of her forehead. "I'm glad that I was finally able to locate you after all of that running..! I'm not sure how much more running around I was prepared to do for such a thing."
More or less composed now, Althaea would close the distance between herself and her cousin whilst uncomfortably scratching at the back of her head. "And to answer your question, it isn't that the elders have hooked me up with anything. I was simply asked to assist you in whatever way that I could with this endeavor of yours. Nothing more and nothing less. It is certainly far too trivial of a task to really consider a mission from the elders." While it was good that she had finally managed to locate her cousin, Eivor, she still hadn't quite known the main reason for being out here. All that she knew was that she was to assist him with his guard duties. What did such things entail though? Honestly, she didn't really have an answer to this question. "So... What is the plan from here? Are we going to be traversing throughout the town and ensuring that the peace is maintained? Or do we have to perhaps stay up here atop of this watchtower? As I am sure that you know, I am quite unsure of what exactly it is that we have been tasked with. Or well.. what you have been tasked with."
Given how well defended Kiten had been from outside forces, Althaea couldn't imagine that they were going to be warding off any external threats to the city. Not unless something major was beginning to happen. On the other hand of that though, she couldn't exactly discredit the possibility to them having to handle internal threats. Spies, thugs, thieves, rowdy teens, etc.. Anything had been possible when it had come to the inhabitants of the inside of Kiten. She knew nothing of these people and truly only wished to help them in whatever ways that she could. The only real question now was how they were planning on going about such a task. "Just so that you are aware, I excel in the matters of healing magic more so than anything else. If we come upon any injured than I am fully capable of assisting with minor or superficial wounds. Anything above that is out of my scope for the time being. I am also capable of preventing individuals from running away if it comes down to it. Whatever it takes to maintain the peace of Kiten, I am willing to assist in. Just.. don't expect me to cause harm to anyone."
Now that her cousin had been aware of her limitations and capabilities when it had come to this particular career path, Althaea would pop a squat on the ground beside the chair that her cousin had been sitting in. She had admittedly still been a bit tired from all that running around and trying to track Eivor down. The mere thought of having to chase after people during this little adventure with her cousin had worn her down a bit. She was assuredly going to need to develop some way of getting around quicker if she was going to be out here more often. Perhaps she could find a magical item that was capable of assisting her in such matters. If not though, she was sure that she could find some way to go about it through the use of her magics.

EIVOR AURELIUS - JUNIOR 5th CLASS - BLACK BULLS
A part of Eivor had been hoping that Gorm’s information was wrong, hence his groan. His cousin explained that she had been running about the entire city searching for him, and from the way that she crouched down, throwing her waist forward, something told Eivor that she was already a bit tired from the running amuck in the city. Eivor started to wonder if she was going to hold him back or something like that. “They did not tell you where you needed to go? That kind of sucks” he hummed underneath his breath and turned his gaze back up to the beautiful sky. “Eh oh well, go ahead and take a seat or something and rest up for a bit” He paused for a moment, “What time did you leave?”
She closed the distance between them. Eivor did not bother to budge or move from his seat or advert his gaze from his cloud gazing. She would explain that the elders did not “hook” her up with a decent mission, but instead, requested that she keep an eye on him. Something told him that she was sent here to “temper out” Eivor’s stubborn nature, and to make sure that he did not mess his duty up. From what he could understand with what little information she gave him; she was nothing more than a baby sister for him. The young magic knight simply grunted at this revelation and rolled his eyes. “So, you’re telling me that the elders basically sent you up here in order to babysit me? Tch, that is typical of them, I have one quote on quote temper tantrum at a family party, and from that moment on I am considered a ‘problem child” and have to be watched like some sort of idiot.”
“You think that after joining the magic knights, they would learn trust me and understand that I have matured a bit over the years” He sighed in a dramatic tone. Despite being a bit frustrated and annoyed, he did not raise his voice or shout. Instead, he spoke in a rather “matter of fact” type of tone, granted, there was a slight tone of frustration. Eivor simply shrugged when she asked if he had a plan and started to question what they should do. Honestly, Eivor’s plan was to rest for another thirty minutes, descend down the staircase roam about the city for about an hour or two, and then return to the tower. “Well, I plan on taking things rather easy, to be honest. Kiten is an incredibly important city, and thus it is naturally secured more so than most cities, so our job should be easy”
“With that being said and all, I’ve already done a quick sweep of the battlement, I’m planning to rest here for about thirty minutes and the head down to the city for about an hour or two” He commented. A cloud that visually appear to Eivor as a wolf’s head passed by, he pointed it out. “That my dear cousin looks like a wolf’s head, wouldn’t you agree?”
To be perfectly honest, Eivor did not feel like there was going to be any sort of trouble that involved combat or anything of that nature. So, when she told him about her magic and what she was capable of, Eivor essentially shrugged it off and ignored her. “Hopefully we won’t need to fight or anything, I’m predicting that it will be a nice and smooth day! Although, healing magic will be useful in the case that someone does get hurt, but to be honest, don’t sweat anything cousin just take things nice and easy” He hummed. “I for one possess a magic that revolves primarily around magic, destruction, and well increasing my own physical strength and whatnot, so if things get rough, I’ll most likely be able to handle it"
‘Don’t expect me to cause harm to anyone’ Eivor found the way that she phrased that to be relatively odd and weird, did she mean that her magic wasn’t geared to that kind of stuff? Or did she herself not hold the stomach for battle? He shrugged the comment off and yawned a little to himself. “But yea whatever the case, we should be fine, just sit down there and take a moment or two to catch your breath. Once you’re rested up will head out to the streets and whatnot”

Having been offered the opportunity to rest up for a moment, Althaea would proceed to take a seat beside Eivor. She hadn't known for how long this little break of hers was going to last and as such, figured that it was best to take advantage of it while she could. "I don't exactly believe that it's a babysitting gig, if that is what you are asking. Put simply, I am sure that it is just to ensure that you stay safe while out and about in the field, so to speak. I understand that it isn't exactly something that you are happy to hear, and I apologize for that, but I am simply doing as I have been asked. I hope that this doesn't cause any discourse between the two of us." As she had said, Althaea was here for the express purpose of ensuring the safety of her cousin. Even with what the elders had asked of her, this had been the main thing that she had been interested in. Protecting others and ensuring that they could go on to prosper and live proper lives. That was what she was all about.
Of course there had been a secondary motive behind why it was that she had been willing to come all the way out here at the behest of the family. As he had said, Eivor had been that of a Magic Knight. That was something that Althaea had hoped to achieve someday as well! When she was younger, she had decided that if she were to ever have a chance to shadow a Magic Knight, that she was going to take it. Thankfully for her, this opportunity had arrived just before the Magic Knight Exams and the Magic Knight in question had been family. This was a win win situation on her end and she didn't want to lose this opportunity before she could take full advantage of it.
What she hadn't been expecting was how lax her cousin would be in this situation. Given that he had seemed to believe the city to be secure one way or another, he had opted to relax and continue to do just that. This was a little discouraging for Althaea to see but she wouldn't make any comment on the fact. Instead she would simply nod along with what he had been saying and would try and remain amicable. "I... suppose that this is a rather sound plan. I can see the logic in your statement." Craning her neck back so that she could see the cloud in question, Althaea would begin to nod once more. "I suppose that it does take on a rather similar shape to that of a wolf head, yes." From here she would simply remain seated until Eivor had stated that it was time for them to get going.

EIVOR AURELIUS - JUNIOR 5th CLASS - BLACK BULLS
“You know, I think the duty of a babysitter is to make sure that the individual being watched is safe and whatnot, the only difference is that a babysitter usually watches the kid in one setting, whereas we’d be in different settings and multiple locations. So it just seems like a babysitter with a few extra steps if you ask me.” Eivor spoke in a matter fact tone, but with a note of sarcasm and apathy. Almost like it was some sort of random observation that he vocally made without being aware that he made it. He had a bad habit of speaking whatever was on his mind, even if it was ‘mean’ or ‘pointless’. Whatever the case, it did not cross Eivor’s mind that he may have been coming off as mean or cruel to his young cousin, in truth, in his own opinion, Eivor was merely speaking his mind and making some sort astute and sarcastic observation to tease or pick on her.
But when she muttered some sort of apologize and mentioned something about how she hoped that this wouldn’t cause any discourse between the two. Initially, Eivor rolled his eyes, but then smiled and rubbed the back of his neck a bit sheepishly. “You don’t have to apologize for anything cous, I was just pulling your leg and teasing you and whatnot. You are just doing what you are told, like me, so I don't hold any issue with you or anything like that...”
For a moment, Eivor averted his gaze from the various clouds that floated above them. His attention momentarily went on his cousin, his eyes searching for any sign of frustration, emotion, or irritation. Eivor wanted to make sure that his harsh tone and whatnot, had not irritated or annoyed his cousin in someway shape or form. The last thing he wanted was to piss of someone who was supposed to keep an eye on him, and someone who is just doing what they are told and whatnot.
“We have nothing to sweat cous, it shall be smooth sailing and whatnot, so we should just relax and whatnot, no rush or anything” He paused for a moment, “I’m sorry if I was being a jerk or anything, I was just pulling your leg and whatnot, but I suppose I took things a bit too far or something.” He scratched the underside of his chin, and continued to advert his gaze from his cousin. “Again I have no issue with you or anything, perhaps the elders, but not with you, you are just following orders.”

No matter how she had felt about the situation, it was clear to Althaea that she wasn't going to be able to get her cousin to make a move towards their task for the day. While this may have stirred her up inside, she had understood that this was just kind of how things were going to be. Those that went on to join Magic Knight squads like the Black Bulls usually tended to be quite stubborn after all. That being the case, she would simply remain where she was and wait to see what was going to happen from here. Once they were prepared to head out and look over the city, she would be sure to remain vigilant and protect the city from any foreign or internal threats. Until that time comes though, she would idly remain in place and remain quiet, her ever watchful gaze staring out over the city. "Right, of course. Whatever you say, cousin dearest. I am certain that you know what you are doing. I shall simply remain quite and prepared until the moment that you wish for us to move out."
