It had been about a week since Jevi had completed the mission with Hinota, and frankly it had been the worst week of his life. He hadn’t slept, he’d barely eaten, and had only focused himself on training and other tasks to keep his mind off of Hinota. Though, every time he got even a moment’s worth of rest the image of her would pop up into his mind. Her bright, emerald green eyes, the way she poked his head and nose to get his attention, or how she covered her mouth with her sleeve to chuckle when she found him amusing. The last two days had been better, it felt like the emotions began to fade a little. Enough, at least, to write a letter to her to request her to go with him to meet his family. While he was trying to get over his feelings for the girl, knowing she was already with someone else, he needed her support when it came to facing his family. He’d crumble without her, and the fallout with his father would likely become irreparable if that happened.
[break][break]
The letter read that a carriage of the Suru family would stop by the Golden Dawn’s headquarters at ten in the morning, and would wait outside till a quarter past ten for Hinota to join him if she so wished. Should she not want to, then she was free to not get in and leave Jevi to go by himself. He struggled with how to end the world, but decided on a formal greeting and to use his full name as well, not wanting to be too informal given the current situation between them. A sigh escaped his lips, as he hoped she would accept the invitation. If not, then he’d still do what he felt needed to be done. There were a lot of things to make up for, and the only one who could do so was he himself. He needed to apologize to his mother, but sadly also to his father. It was a bitter pill to swallow, and unlike when he swallowed his pride for Hinota, this one was rough. Once the letter was sent, there was no way back. He simply had to get ready to atone for what he’d done.
[break][break]
Two days later, Jevi was seated in the white and blue colored carriage with the Suru family symbol on the side; a white dove with an olive branch. The clock hit ten, and Jevi’s stomach was in knots waiting inside the carriage. He wanted to wait for Hinota outside, but that was the servant’s job. He was expected to stay inside and wait. Currently, he was dressed quite different from the first time he’d met Hinota. These weren’t his usual clothes, but ones he wore for formal occasions. It was a white coat, with blue, black and gold details all over it. There was a black cloak hanging on his right shoulder, and the black pants and leather boots finished the look. As he sat by himself, he fidgeted with his hands, taking a deep breath. He had moved past his feelings for her enough. That’s what he felt. Otherwise he wouldn’t have invited her today.
[break][break]
Jevi believed himself until the carriage doors opened, and Hinota was allowed to enter. The moment his eyes fell on her they widened slightly and his heart began to pound in his chest once more, just like the day he’d met her. He wasn’t over her at all. Not one bit. In fact, the feelings only felt stronger now than before. “Good morning, Lady Hinota…” The last time they had spoken she had called him “Lord Suru”, so there was no way he could go back to simply calling her Hinota. Then again, he didn’t want to call her Lady Yuuei and definitely not princess. He’d learned his lesson. Especially with everyone around, and Junjie likely joining them in the carriage. “It’s nice to see you again as well, Junjie.” Jevi greeted the man politely, happy for the distraction the man provided him for the brief moment. Though he knew that the man was going to be not much more than a silent observer given his position, which left the conversation with him and Hinota primarily unless they were to sit in awkward silence.
[break][break]
The ride to the estate wouldn’t be too long, thankfully, but he didn’t want to sit there in silence. Even though Junjie was there, and he didn’t want to make the things that happened between him and Hinota apparent, it was obvious that his voice was soft and he was being extremely careful around her. “How have you been?” He genuinely hoped she had gotten over the confusion he had caused her, and hoped that in this past week she had been able to move past his transgressions and forgive him. It was probably an idle hope, but it was what he held onto as of right now. “The ride shouldn’t be too long, and thank you for accepting my invitation and joining me today. I know I’ll need your support.” His voice was different from when they had met. It had become more formal, and he tried his absolute best to not let his emotions show through like he ought to do. To Hinota, it was likely clear how nervous he was right now, both for meeting with his family and for being around Hinota once more. With all these nerves in his body, it was a miracle he had not gotten sick yet.
[break][break]
Just like he promised, the ride did not take too long, and soon the carriage passed through the gates of the Suru estate. It wasn’t large by any means, especially to Hinota who was used to an estate far larger. In fact, it was just a single mansion, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The carriage went up to the entrance of the mansion before it stopped and the servants opened both sides of the carriage. Jevi got out on one side, the side of the front door, as servants would help Hinota out at the other side. Obviously, his parents had been informed that he would be returning home, and were standing in the door opening as they watched him exit the carriage. While his father was stoic, his brown hair slightly slicked back and a stern expression on his face, his mother could not contain her excitement. The white haired woman, with eyes just as blue as Jevi’s, did not hesitate to rush over to her boy’s side and threw herself into his arms. “My sweet boy!” She called out, holding him tightly before she noted how much he had grown in the past three years. “You’ve grown so much…” She whispered, not letting go as Jevi returned the hug with a sigh and a smile. This was what he had expected of his mother. “I have.” His voice then turned into a whisper so only his mother could hear. “I’m sorry for having been gone so long, mother…” He felt remorse, knowing how much he must have hurt his mother, but the woman was simply happy to be able to hold him again.
[break][break]
Of course, she could not hold him forever, and so she moved back as she looked up to him. Meanwhile the carriage had already moved, and Hinota and Junjie would be more than visible to his parents. When her eyes fell on the just slightly smaller woman, she smiled brightly and bowed while holding her dress. “Welcome to the Suru estate, Lady Yuiee. We are honored to have you as a guest today.” As much as she had not been holding back her feelings, she showed herself to be a true lady. His father walked over, and with him came a cold aura. Jevi could feel his fight or flight response flare up, but there was no backing down now. “So you’re still alive? I thought after the first year we would never hear from you again, and suddenly we received news that you had joined the Crimson Lion squad. You could have joined the Golden Dawn or the Silver Eagles, but I suppose the Crimson Lion isn’t bad.” The man stroked his chin, looking down at his son, figuratively and literally as he was slightly taller. Hinota could note that the sharp gaze in the man’s eyes was very reminiscent of Jevi’s when he got serious, eerily so. “I am alive, yes, as well as a Crimson Lion member. They have treated me well.” Obviously his father did not care about that, but only about the prestige that came with his position and squad.
[break][break]
The man’s eyes fell on Hinota, before giving the woman a bow as well. “My apologies, Lady Yuiee. I am Daiki Suru, head of the Suru family. I hope my son has not caused you much trouble, if so allow me to apologize on his behalf.” Jevi grit his teeth a little. He couldn’t stand the arrogance his father showed, apologizing on his behalf, but going against it now would only cause a scene. “Let’s head inside, I am curious to hear why you have returned, and how Lady Yuiee has become involved in our affairs.” Jevi frowned, not wanting Hinota to get into trouble for any of this. Thankfully, his mother chimed in with a much lighter and softer tone. “Come, come, there’s tea, cakes and sweets.” It took some of the bitter out of his father’s sting. Jevi looked over at Hinota, offering her a soft smile. Her presence helped calm his nerves, and at the same time made them worse…such confusing feelings. “Follow me, if you will.”

[attr="class","raescroll2"]
Jevi has written Hinota a letter inviting her to come along to his family’s estate. When they arrive, they are greeted by his parents.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] After the last task she done at the bequest of Hania with one of his squad she returned home upset and confused, Luli and Junjie could tell that there was something wrong but she had done something that she had never done before and that was close herself off from them. This worried the twins a great amount, outside of her duties she returned home and remained within a temple on the her family's estate praying for guidance through her confusion. When she did exit the temple she didn't sing, dance, flower arrange, paint or play music she remained alone in her room not wanting to be disturbed by anyone. Even when Junjie had offered her games of chess, go or to go over the tactics of battles past she declined which had him convinced it had something to do with the last job and he intended to get to the bottom of it. [break][break] After five days a letter arrived at the Golden Dawn headquarters within it was a letter from Jevi with the time and date he would be there to pick her up as he had arranged to to go home. It did state that he understood if she no longer wished to go and he would accept her decision. She sighed reading the letter "Nǐ zhège báichī, wǒ shuōguò wǒ huì qù de" she shook her head and placed it to the side fixing her calendar accordingly so people would have tasks to do and know where to put the reports for her to deal with when she returned that day. She was still a ball of confusion over the entire situation but she knew she needed to compartmentalize and do as she said she would. The night before she was due to meet his family she lay in bed looking at the ceiling. [break][break] Her usually tranquil palace was completely out of harmony because of her, hearing something she got up and went to her window and opened it just a little to look. She smiled watching as Junjie sang softly as his sister played, she could tell that they were trying to ease whatever burdened her spirit. She ended up falling asleep at the window that night just listening to them, it wasn't at all comfortable but she slept better than she had done in the last week. Luli walked into the room in the morning seeing her sleeping soundly at the window "Junjie, I think the harmony will return soon enough" She whispered to her brother who was outside of his lady's chambers. Luli helped wake her as a bath was already ready. By the time she was washed her food had been delivered. [break][break] Although she finally felt hungry she knew that she couldn't eat until she was properly dressed and had her makeup done. Kneeling she took her clothing and started to infuse them with the scent of jasmine and lotus blossoms. It was only after this was done she stood and started to get dressed in the pale blue and white hanfu this had flower embroidery of white and blue that had been chosen for her. Once done she sat at her vanity and started doing her makeup while Luli brushed out her hair, the makeup was subtle but clear it was being worn, and she was careful to choose what would compliment her dress. Once her hair was brushed she put it up, again it wasn't something complex but it just added to the simple elegance of her outfit. For hair ornaments, she chose again to remain with the floral theme. [break][break] There was one on each side of her head and though larger than she usually liked it still wasn't over the top. She picked up the curtain veil that went with the hanfu made out of silver but would eat before adding that on. She left her mantle at home as she wasn't on duty that day. After eating she made her way to her carriage and allowed herself to be helped in, Junjie rode a horse alongside it but remained close in case she wanted to talk but she still seemed as if she was withdrawn. He wanted to know what was going on but he feared to push would only cause her to withdraw more. It was only a little before Jevi arrived when they had, Junjie stood by her side with his hand on his horse's reigns as she held a paper umbrella. [break][break] Seeing the carriage doors opened she expected to see Jevi but a servant was the one who stood as if to invite her to enter. She sighed lowering her umbrella as she got closer, the servant moved to help her to enter but she only accepted Junjie's aid. This wasn't personal to the servant it was that she didn't know him or his intentions and tradition dictated she needed to rely on her own for such things. Once she was inside and settled Junjie closed the door, Jevi's servant looked confused expecting the man to enter, instead, he got on his horse but remained close so he could listen and intervene if needed. Once the carriage got moving Junjie would move too. "Good morning Lord Suru" she said respectfully her tone was soft as it always had been but it was clear that she still hadn't moved past what had transpired only a week previously. [break][break] Junjie turned his eyes towards Jevi briefly but said nothing, it was clear even his mannerisms had changed it wasn't an aggressive energy he was giving off but it certainly wasn't a friendly one either. Hearing his question she didn't want to lie but at the same time, she didn't want to tell him she wasn't doing well. "I have spent a lot of time reflecting, thank you for asking and yourself Lord Suru? Have you been well?" she already knew that he would tell her the truth, he had already shown he was the type to put everything on display. "When we last spoke you requested my aid when you returned home, I gave my word I would accompany you and I have been taught to keep such things." she said not wanting him to think too much about it. "I am glad I can give you the support you need." her voice again delicate as she spoke. [break][break] She could tell he was off but she chalked it up to him being nervous and anxious about what this day could bring. As Jevi had promised the ride hadn't taken too long. Once the carriage had stopped Junjie got off his horse and handed it to the servant that was getting too close to the side of the carriage his lady was on. he opened it and helped her exit as Jevi seemingly got the hug only a mother could give. Hinota opened up her umbrella and held it over herself watching as Junjie's horse and the carriage were taken away. She had a soft smile on her face as Jevi's mother approached her and greeted her. Junjie took her umbrella allowing her to return a bow traditionally. "Thank you for hosting me today Lady Suru." she said her voice as soft and warm as Jevi remembered on the day it all went wrong. [break][break] Her eyes went to Jevi's father as she listened to what was being said, she awaited to be acknowledged and again gave a traditional bow to him "Thank you for hosting me Lord Suru, but I humbly request that you do not look down on the Crimson Lions compared to the Silver Eagles and my own squad." her voice was still soft but it had an air of authority that Jevi wouldn't have seen before "My father and eldest brother are members of that squad as are the Lords Ravencrest and Kasai, if anything the Crimson Lions is one of the most accomplished within the kingdom." it was clear she wasn't impressed of him talking down on the squad even if it wasn't her own. "Any father should be proud of their son for being able to enter their ranks as Lord Kasai has high standards." she said playing it up but even if it wasn't true on Ard's side it most definitely was when it came to Hania. [break][break] "Also, if I am offended by a person I would expect them to apologise to me personally. I am sure no one needs another to speak for them as this is why we have been graced with speech after all." Her delicate smile never left her face as she spoke, her voice still soft and respectful the entire time. "Oh, please excuse me. This is Lord Junjie Bai and he has been requested to be my bodyguard." she said taking her umbrella from him allowing Junjie to bow to Jevi's parents "It is an honour to meet you both, may the heavens smile good fortune upon your house." he said his voice respectful and polite before he stood straight once more. "That sounds wonderful Lady Suru." she said walking behind Jevi's parents with Junjie walking slightly behind her, when they reached the threshold she closed her umbrella and handed it to Junjie who took it without question.

Kikka is a town known to be the defensive foot-hold for the Clover Kingdom, it is the town that sits in the grey area of what could be considered the noble region and the common region. It is due to this that there is a diverse range of people and backgrounds that called this place home. [break][break] A young fire mage found himself getting into trouble when he decided to steal some vegetables from a garden of jewellers. The mother of the family was the one that caught him and even told the boy and his mother that they just needed to ask due to them having more than enough. It was the beginning of a new bond between the family and the fire mage. [break][break] Over time the boy grew and where he was wanting to learn the next flashy fire move from the former purple orca. She would tell him that he needed to learn how to walk before he tried to run or those he cared about would get burned by those same flames that treasured so much. Of course, being young he didn't understand what she was getting at. [break][break] The woman's husband attempted to teach the street smart and somewhat rough male his craft. He, of course, got bored real quickly because crafting jewellery was a slow process that often was very detail orientated. Still, the man tried. On the day the fire mage was scheduled to leave Kikka for the exams the man called the young mage into his workshop. [break][break] He was just finishing up a double ring set and told him to put every wish and promise he could into a single flame and release it onto the ring. Somewhat sceptical the fire mage did what he was asked and thought it was for some sort of trinket for the woman that had helped him grow. The man placed the ring into a box and handed it to the budding mage. [break][break] "Valo, we see you as our son and we are proud to see the man you've grown into. You've helped create something that is unique and special, keep it with you and give it to someone that you believe deserves what you put into it." [break][break] The now young man gave bravado with his normal attitude but took the ring. He held onto it for three years until something terrible happened. The family that he had loved so much was taken from him. The one that had seen him at his most vulnerable and had helped him through the grief was a young woman. A woman who themselves couldn't fight due to their beliefs. [break][break] He remembered the ring from all those years ago and offered it to her, telling her if she was ever in danger just to call him and he'd come running.

As the carriage pulled up at the Golden Dawn headquarter’s gates, Jevi could feel the nerves run rampant through his body. Was she going to show up? How was she feeling now? Had she forgiven him, or had she become even angrier towards him? These were the questions that had held him busy for the past week. With everything he did, as much as it was meant to keep his mind off of her, it just didn’t work. Eventually he figured his feelings had faded enough to request her to come along, but that thought went out of the window the moment she entered the carriage and he finally saw her. The pale blue dress she was wearing was gorgeous, and the silver veil only added to her beauty. Jevi had not looked at Hinota for her looks alone, but today she looked absolutely stunning. His heart was beating out of his chest by now, and all he wanted to do was stop it. He tried his best to move past it, and greeted her. He had expected her formal greeting in return, and he did not dare overstep and return to something more informal. Her tone was soft, but it was obvious to him that she was still upset.
[break][break]
On the way to the Suru estate, Jevi carefully and gently asked her how she had been doing. The answer was a half-truth, he could tell. By saying she had been reflecting she avoided answering him with the details. A soft sigh escaped his lips, knowing this was a war he would not win. On his end, Hinota was right to assume that he was going to be honest and tell her the truth. “I’ve been…alright. I have spent a lot of time reflecting too, about everything you’ve told me and all that happened.” He was not going to into further detail either, though. This was likely the last time they were going to see each other, there was no reason to make her feel bad about anything that happened when all of it was his own fault. As expected, she was only making true on her last promise. The only thing that had still bound them in the slightest of ways. “I expected nothing more, but I am grateful to have your support for today.” He had not gone into this with a lot of hope, because if he had he was just setting himself up to get hurt again. She was not the only one who was hurt by that day a week ago, but it was alright this way.
[break][break]
When they arrived at the estate, it was Junjie who helped Hinota out of the carriage as expected, and the attendant from the Suru family had no issue with it and stepped aside respectfully for the man like he had done when letting Hinota enter the carriage. His mother first greeted him, as she was overjoyed to see her one and only son again after three long years. Jevi returned her greeting and hug, softly apologizing to his doting mother. That was his biggest regret when it came to leaving. She then greeted Hinota politely like a true lady, and seeing the exchange was a relief to Jevi. At least that went well, and Hinota’s tone was as he remembered. She really was great at putting on those masks, and he had a lot to learn still to even come slightly close to her level of skill.
[break][break]
Then his father spoke up, stepping up to them while keeping a slight distance from the group. Jevi was not in the least bit surprised by how his old man addressed him, making an offhand comment about him still being alive before digging into his choice for joining the Crimson Lions. If he were alone, this was where the fight would have already started, but with Hinota there he was far more timid. He was trying hard not to screw up again, but to his surprise Hinota took the reigns on his behalf. She thanked him for welcoming her, but then immediately spoke about his dig to the Crimson Lions. It was clear that she was putting him in his place, and yet with her tone of voice and choice of words his father could do nothing but meekly apologize to her. “Of course, Lady Yuiee, my apologies. The Crimson Lions are a fine squad indeed, I meant no offense.” He did, of course, but he could not pick a fight with someone of Hinota’s status and position.
[break][break]
Hinota did not stop there though, as she also berated him gently on apologizing on Jevi’s behalf. To hear her come to his defense like that, Jevi couldn’t do anything other than look at her in awe, a small and sublte smile on his face. She was amazing in each and every way, and he was ever so grateful for her interference. “A pleasure, Lord Junjie, and many thanks. Let me apologize once more, Lady Yuiee, I’ve just grown accustomed to my son’s unfortunate choices in life and needing to clean up after them.” Jevi turned to look at his father, mimicking the cold gaze his father had shown earlier as he was already getting pissed. “That’s enough, father. We can discuss such grievances at another time when we’re not hosting company.” This was an out he knew he could play to, and his father merely nodded before inviting everyone inside to sit down and talk about whatever it was Jevi had come home for, and how someone like Lady Yuiee had become entangled into their affairs. His mother tried to remedy the situation, as Saki told them there was tea, cake and sweets ready.
[break][break]
As expected of Hinota, she thanked his mother politely before following her inside. Jevi followed as well, staying on Hinota’s other side as Junjie took her umbrella before they entered the mansion. His parents lead the way to the living room, where two couches were placed opposite of one another. The marble fire place was clearly the centerpiece, with a chair nearby. The tea and sweets were already set neatly on the table, with one maid nearby ready to serve the tea when requested. Daiki and Saki sat on one side, which lead Jevi and Hinota to sit opposite of them. As they had taken their seats, the maid would pour tea for all of them. Should Junjie wish to inspect the tea first, or make Hinota her own, he was welcome to intervene. Jevi had explained that Hinota’s bodyguard would be present should she join him, and that he needed to be able to do his job uninterrupted. The staff had clearly been notified of this as well.
[break][break]
His father took his cup of tea and held in his lap, his gaze boring down on his son. “So tell us, why have you returned after three years?” That’s the part Jevi had not explained in the letter, for obvious reasons as he wanted to be able to say it in person. Jevi sighed softly, preparing to swallow his pride once more like he had done for Hinota last week as he begged her to come along with him. Doing so for his father stung more, but he needed to do it. He remained seated, but bowed deeply as he spoke. “I came home to apologize for my rebellious behavior throughout my childhood. For not wanting to listen to my tutors, and causing many more issues. I have recently learned that my behavior did not only have consequences for myself, but also for the people around me. Given that information, I felt it was only proper to return home in order to apologize to you, my mother and all of the staff I have ever wronged.” As much as Jevi had skipped lessons, it was clear that he could be quite articulate if he wanted to be.
[break][break]
Jevi sat back upright, looking at the reaction of his parents. His mother was looking at him with pride, seeing that her son had grown immensely over the past three years. She snuck a glance at Hinota, and mouthed a ‘thank you’ to the young lady without drawing attention to herself. As much as Saki appeared to be a simple, joyful woman, she was far more perceptive than Daiki would ever give her credit for and had already realized that the only reason Jevi was here was due to Hinota’s influence. His father, on the other hand, still looked at Jevi with contempt in his eyes. His arms crossed over his chest, and while he wanted to scold his son he knew he had to reel it in with Lady Yuiee here. “Your apology is meaningless when all the problems you have caused can no longer be solved. You’ve learned your lessons too late, and you’ve brought nothing but shame to our family with your selfish behavior. I do not know what you hoped to achieve, but I do not believe you should be welcomed back as of yet.” Saki was not pleased to hear her husband say this, but she kept herself quiet.
[break][break]
Jevi, on the other hand, simply sighed and kept his hands in his lap. They tightened, holding on to the fabric of his clothes as he looked back at his father. “And you still have not explained why Lady Yuiee is here.” It took a calming breath for him to speak up, and it was his honesty that shone through once more. “Lady Yuiee accompanied me today, because she is the one who pointed out the flaws in my actions and made me realize how wrong I have been. She was kind enough to join me on my quest to redemption, that is all there is to it.” His father closed his eyes and shook his head, his arms still crossed. “You can’t even do something as simple as owning up to your mistakes by yourself.” Saki at this point cut in, putting her hand on Daiki’s shoulder. “Dear, I think you are being a little unreasonable.” She knew Daiki was angry with Jevi, but she didn’t think he’d be this stubborn about it. Then again, she knew they both were like that, and to see Jevi this timid was only because of Hinota. “It’s alright, mother…” Jevi spoke softly, his eyes were slightly glaced over from tears that were starting to brim in his eyes, but he held it together well for now.

Jevi’s father is not one to budge easily, while his mother attempts to keep the peace.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] She knew given how their last interaction was that he may have felt like she wouldn't attend today when he requested that she did, however, she was always one to keep to her word regardless if she liked the person or not. It was how she had been brought up, but then, she was pretty sure it was the same for all imperial children to learn this lesson in one form or another regardless of their gender. The harmony between the two was good but then Jevi had to put his foot so far down his throat that he was still looking for a way to extract it. Now there was an awkward tension between them both. Her entire palace had felt the change in their princess and it made everyone on edge. She didn't want to affect them but it was hard given the situation and it wasn't as if she could 'Just get over it.' [break][break] When he had asked her how she had been since they last seen each other she answered with what she had been doing but not how she was feeling. She could understand why he may have seen it as a half-truth but there was no way she was getting into a conversation about how she was feeling with someone who she was speaking formally with. To say she wasn't upset about the entire situation would be a lie because she was still upset but that was more at herself for allowing her emotions to get so far out of her control. Just by the sigh she could tell he wanted more information but that he wouldn't try and force it from her, she was thankful that he wouldn't because it would have made everything so much worse. [break][break] After she explained what she had done with her time she returned the pleasantries given to her. It turned out he was okay and he too had been reflecting on what had happened and what he had learned from their last interaction. She could tell that he was unsettled but she didn't know him well enough to say what was unsettling him. He had even attempted to speak to Junjie who subsequently ignored him entirely. I was clear he was far from happy even if he didn't know the situation. "I did say I would lend my aid when you requested." she repeated the same words from the last time they saw one another showing they still rang true. She knew that he was hurting from that day but it wasn't her who caused that pain. He did. He believed because he was a smooth talker elsewhere that the same things would work for her. [break][break] He was well aware that she was a princess, he had also seen how she reacted when Junjie called her it and yet he decided not only to call her, her title as a form of endearment but double down and tell him he liked her. This entire issue was his fault and so his cross to bear. Once they arrived she was glad that Jevi's servants weren't making a fuss and allowing Junjie to tend to her. Soon enough Jevi's mother greeted her son before finally greeting Hinota they were respectful of each other. Jevi already knew that she wasn't herself, however, what he didn't know was some of the things she had been taught growing up such as being able to drink from an empty cup. It was meant as a way for women to smile even if there was no reason to do so. [break][break] Hinota had noticed that Jevi's father remained slightly away from the group, it showed that he had no real bond with his family and merely saw them as a means to the end. That honestly didn't sit well with the floral mage, it was only reinforced when his father belittled him. She would need to put an end to that but not long after that he insulted his son's squad. She had family within the Crimson Lions and there were also people she respected deeply within that squad and she wouldn't allow some noble who had never spent even a day with a mantle to decide which squads were more acceptable than others. Jevi's Father instantly apologised to her when she chewed him out but she already got the feeling that he was just attempting to placate her. She wasn't happy and though she was still smiling it showed in her eyes. [break][break] "Of course, after all, no one would want to believe that the head of a strong family such as yours would wish to alienate their family from other affluent families Ravencrest due to believing their family head was in a third-rate squad compared to the Golden Dawn and the Silver Eagles. I'm sure I must be mistaken and no such sentiment was ever made." Her tone was warm and soft but also held the undertone that she would destroy him if he didn't watch what he was saying. She may only be sixteen but clearly knew how to give veiled threats without coming off as threatening. She then pointed out when he attempted to apologize on behalf of Jevi that if anyone had upset her then she would expect that person to man up and apologise to her. She then listened as he greeted Junjie before returning to belittling his son in front of her again. [break][break] "It is true that your son may have made mistakes but all children do it is within their nature as they know no better." she began "It is the duty of the parents to help them understand why these are mistakes so their children can avoid making the same if not similar ones later. In this, he isn't the one who created a mess." she said her words showing he was the failure in this scenario not Jevi. She sighed silently seeing the glares between the two men, this didn't go unnoticed by Junjie who moved closer to his lady his stance changing to show that he saw them both as a threat to her safety. Jevi attempted to de-escalate the situation by telling his father that they had company and could deal with their issues later as it wasn't a good look, after which they were brought inside. [break][break] She followed quietly as she, Junjie and Jevi were brought into the mansion and into a large living room. She wasn't exactly expecting this but then she only entered a few western homes. "Thank you once more for your hospitality." she said moving into her right sleeve and bringing out a small lotus blossom made out of imperial jade and holding it out to Jevi's mother with both hands. It was big enough that it could be used as the centrepiece of a table or even placed on a fireplace mantle. It would be very clear that this was a custom piece and that the one who created it was highly skilled in their craft. Sitting beside it was a purple jade chrysanthemum that could be used as a pendant of a necklace or a charm in a bracelet. She would take her seat after they had been taken. [break][break] Junjie wished his sister was here as he hated what he was going to have to do, taking a moment he bowed to the maid "Excuse me, but might you escort me to the kitchen?" he asked the woman, it caught her off guard but the moment she was finished serving the tea she would escort Junjie to the kitchen. Before leaving he bowed to Hinota before bowing to the hosts leaving the floral mage without him by her side for now. "Please forgive him, I am unable to drink black tea." she explained knowing that he had brought tea leaves from her palace with him most likely. "I am sure that he brought enough if you would like to try." he offered those hosting her, this, of course, would include Jevi as it was his family. "Lady Suru, I do not wish to be rude but does any of this contain cocoa?" she enquired. [break][break] By her tone, it was clear she wasn't attempting to offend her hostess as she likely wanted everything to be perfect for her son's return. "I'm deathly allergic to cocoa." she explained. She didn't want to think of the time when her brothers brought her some home when their father took them outside of the estate only for her to almost perish by merely touching it so she didn't want to imagine what eating some would do. As she was talking to her hostess it seemed as if the conversation between father and son had began. She was still paying attention while speaking to her hostess. Jevi had articulated his words perfectly, explaining that as a child he didn't understand and so when he acted out he didn't know more than himself would be affected by it. This of course was natural, he was a child. [break][break] The floral mage could see his mother beaming with pride as he confessed the flaws that he hadn't been able to see before. She noticed her hostess thanking her and smiled bowing her head ever so slightly to show she was welcome. It was once again Jevi's father that spoke with contempt for his son."His words are not meaningless and the lessons are far from being learned too late." she said calmly her hands gripping her sleeves as she looked the elder male in the eyes. "The actions of the past can not be changed this is true but it still shows growth on his part that he now recognises his behaviours and a maturity that he is willing to swallow his pride and come to you to admit he had done wrong." she was soft-spoken and couldn't believe the cruelty of the man before her. [break][break] She stood in a single graceful movement "He hasn't brought shame to your family, your own actions have caused such a thing Lord Suru." her voice was still gentle but there was a coldness now behind her words. "You couldn't even put your differences aside while there was a guest on your estate." she said and there was no way he could argue with her because it was the truth but she wasn't finished "Your son is trying to be a better man and own up to his mistakes but all you've done since we've arrived is shown him contempt and belittled him." she wasn't taking any prisoners, she could comment on the first thing she noticed upon arriving but that was a can of worms she didn't want to deal with, there was also a fact that she didn't want to hurt his wife by pointing out the lack of bond she observed. [break][break] "His failings as a child are yours." she said almost glaring at him, she could tell this was the kind of man who would even look down on someone like her if she didn't possess her family name, hell, she was quite sure if he could get away with it he would talk down and belittle her now. Even after explaining why she was there, he continued to belittle Jevi, this man was quite lucky that she was a pacifist because she would slapped him by now. "Had you done a better job as his father, helping him understand why certain things were needed then he would have been far more receptive. I accomplished in one day what you couldn't do in fifteen years apparently and I'm three years younger than him." she found it laughable that Jevi's most effective tutor was barely an adult herself. [break][break] Seeing the kitchen door open she took her seat a smile back on her face as Junjie once again returned with a cup of tea, he knelt by her side to offer it from a tray "Thank you Junjie, you take such good care of me." her voice was genuinely tender towards the man. "I would be derelict in my duties if I did not do my best for you princess." he said respectfully standing and passing the tray to the maid with a nod of thanks. Junjie could tell that the energy of the room had changed and even that his lady's mood had changed but he didn't act upon anything from what he could tell she wasn't in any danger but he did see the father as a potential threat. He was indeed his ladies guard but even if she didn't know it he was also her dagger and was weighing the options of assassinating the man at a later date. He pushed those thoughts out as he knew it would only hurt her even if he seemed like an unworthy waste of space.

The tension in the carriage could have been cut with one of his swords as both Jevi and Hinota danced around each other and hid their true feelings as neither wished to cause their situation to become even more awkward than it already was. Obviously, Hinota was only here to make true on her promise, and after this they could go their seperate ways. That didn't change the fact that Jevi felt grateful for her support in this moment, and he expressed as such as Hinota once more repeated that it was merely her promise she was upholding. Jevi returned a nod of understanding, not having expected today to be more than that and making his peace with it as hard as that was. The more he was around Hinota, the more his heart screamed at him to not give up his pursuit of the young lady, but he was not going to be a slave to his emotions. He had learned his lessons and would pay his dues. Anything that could have been between himself and Hinota simply was not meant to be, and that was his own fault. Yes, he had gotten hurt last week, but it was all a consequence of him speaking out on his feelings towards a woman who already had found her love. Still, part of him found it strange that it had affected her so much. If she was certain about where her heart belonged, then his confession shouldn't have put her off balance like that, right? Well, a maiden's heart was complicated, and Jevi was no expert by any means. Hinota was the first woman he had ever felt so strongly for, so he was out of his depth trying to understand this all.
[break][break]
Thankfully it did not take long for the carriage to reach his estate, though this only meant new situations had to be navigated. His mother was happy to see him, overjoyed even, and Jevi returned her hug in kind before his father cut in. The man tried to uphold a sense of authority, but in doing so revealed to Hinota that his family had only become a means to an end for the man. Though Daiki began to take his shots at Jevi, it was Hinota who spoke up to his defense in a way only she could. It left his father to apologize, but even that he couldn't do without speaking down to Jevi. It was then that he himself spoke up and told his father to save it for later considering their company. He could tell Junjie was on edge, and he didn't blame him, but if Daiki dared to lift even a finger towards Hinota then it wouldn't just be Junjie who'd be up in arms.
[break][break]
As they had made it through the initial greeting, the group went inside of the estate and to the large living room. As his parents took one couch, Jevi and Hinota were left to take a seat on the other. She moved a small, blue lotus blossom out of her sleeve and presented it to his mother, and she gleefully accepted. "It is beautiful. You are most welcome, Lady Yuiee." It was clear that Saki did not mind the way Hinota had spoken to her husband, as she was genuinely glad to speak to the girl. Apparently, Hinota could not drink black tea, something that Saki had not accounted for as she simply didn't know. The white-haired lady who bore such similarities to her son brought her hand to her mouth and gasped in surprise. "Oh, my apologies, Lady Yuiee. If it is not too much trouble for your bodyguard then I would love to sample your tea." His mother played along famously with Hinota, showing she was not offended in the slightest and accepting Hinota's kind offer to share her tea. When it came to the sweets, she was once more understanding and kind about the situation. "There is none, except for in these cookies over here. Everything else has been prepared without caocao. I wish I had known beforehand, though, but should you ever visit again I will most certainly keep it in mind." She showed the young lady a kind smile, meaning every word she spoke.
[break][break]
While the two ladies exchanged pleasantries, Jevi spoke up to his father when he was asked why he had decided to visit. The reason was simple, as he wanted to atone for his wrongdoings in the past and apologize for the trouble he had caused. It was not unexpected for Jevi to hear his father not accept any of it. While he stayed quiet and in control of his emotions, even though it wasn't easy for him, it was Hinota who spoke up once more to his defense. She was ruthless this time, a cold tone in her voice as she explained that Jevi's mistakes as a child were not just his fault and that the major fault was with his father for not explaining things right like she had. "Hinota..." His voice was soft, but he caught himself quickly as he noted he had used her first name. A faint blush colored his cheeks as he bit his tongue to not slip up again, but he listened to his father admonish him for not doing this all by himself. Daiki was clearly furious at Hinota's words, but he had no leg to stand on so-to-speak. "And what ex-". "Father, stop." Jevi's tone of voice was low, and his right hand was balled into a fist. "You dare tell m-". "I said stop." He did not budge as he stood up to show his resolve, and his mother smiled as she noted the changes in her son. Before Jevi had left home, he would have never spoken up like this.
[break][break]
Saki stood up, and bowed towards Hinota, a smile ever present on her face. "Lady Yuiee, would you please accompany me to the gardens? The roses are in bloom at this very moment, and I would love for you to see them before you must take your leave once more to return to your duties. They are the pride of my garden, after all." Again, Saki was far more perceptive than Daiki would ever give her credit for. She knew Jevi was going to finally truly speak up to his father. When he was young, he hid his displeasure behind disobedience and actions, but never once did he actually speak to his father about how he felt on the matters. She knew more than anyone that Jevi was never against taking on the responsibilities that came with his birthright. It was her husband who went about it the wrong way. By taking Hinota to the gardens, she could allow her son to finally actually break out of his shell. "I'll lead the way." Saki would lead Hinota and Junjie through a hallway to the side of the living room which lead to a door which opened to the gardens at the back of the mansion.
[break][break]
As they walked towards the beautiful rose bushes that were indeed in full bloom, Saki bend over slightly to take one of the roses in her hand and inspect it. As she did so, she spoke in her soft tone of voice to Hinota. "I am sorry you had to see my husband act like he did. It was improper, and I do hope you do not hold it against my son or myself." It was clear that his mother, too, had been hurt by Daiki's actions over the past decade or so. "I can see Jevi cares a great deal about you, Lady Yuiee, though I can imagine that is not easy to deal with for a woman in your position. I hope he has not caused you too much trouble." There was a tension between them, but Saki was subtle in letting Hinota know she understood without judgement. She looked from the rose to Hinota with a knowing smile on her face. She had already seen the various glances Jevi stole of the young lady, and for him to come home and be so willing to swallow his pride? There was no doubt in her mind that Hinota was the reason he had changed his ways so much. "I am eternally grateful to you for getting through to him. I do not need to know how you managed to do so, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing so and for being so supportive of him." Saki gave Hinota a bow of utmost respect before she stood up and spoke once more. "If I can ever do anything to repay your kindness, please do not hesitate to ask me."
[break][break]
While his mother was entertaining Hinota and Junjie in the gardens, Jevi and his father were left alone in the living room. Once they were gone, Jevi was the one to start the conversation. "I came here to atone for my wrongdoings, not for your forgiveness. I realize full and well that I cannot turn back time and undo what I've done, but I'm also not going to sulk about it any longer. I'm going to take control of my own future, whether you like it or not and this is how it's going to go." He spoke, his tone of voice so resolute and calm that it took his father aback. He had never seen his son like this. "First and foremost. If you dare to even speak a single ill word of Lady Yuiee, whether in my presence or not, you will come to regret it." He knew exactly where his earlier comeback was going to go, which is also why he stopped his father from speaking the way he did. "Secondly, I am going to work harder than ever before to become the strongest Magic Knight I can be. I will aim to become vice-captain and then captain of the Crimson Lions. Once I made captain, I will be taking over the Suru family and reform it into my own image." His father glared at him, but Jevi wasn't done. "I do not need you to become a great man, father. I never did."
[break][break]
Daiki had listened long enough, finding Jevi's words preposterous and he was going to make sure his son knew it. "So after three years you come back home just because that girl told you to? How do you not see that you still did not make any decision of your own? She manipulated you into this, and suddenly you believe to be some capable big shot? You're delusional if you believe your plans can work out. You do not have the resolve to become a vice-captain let alone captain of any squad. You are weak-willed." Jevi glared back, he was not going to take this lying down. If Hinota could stand up for him, then he could stand up for himself. "Just watch me." His actions were going to speak for him. It was time to take control of his own destiny. Enough time had been wasted, but he believed that if he applied himself that he could achieve what he had set out for himself to do. "And for your information, she did not manipulate me into coming here. All she did was make me consider it. It was my decision to go, and she would have never forced it on me, so put your baseless accusations to rest and start to behave yourself. You're embarrassing me." His words were harsh, but finally he had been able to turn the tables through his newfound confidence.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The tension within the carriage could have been cut with a knife. She knew that it was awkward between them, how could it not have been given what had transpired during their last meeting? Junjie knew there was something wrong with his lady, he knew it had something to do with the boy and yet he had no details as to what had caused the turmoil within one of the few people he cherished. She had never cut herself off from him or his sister, she was ordinarily an open book to the pair as they had been her attendants since they were all very young. The bodyguard had to wonder if the reason she cut herself off from them was due to the fact if they knew the truth she wouldn't have been able to attend this meeting. She was a force to be reconned with, however, there were ways to deal with that force if and when needed. [break][break] The floral mage knew Jevi most likely believed she was only doing it because she gave her word, this was only partly the truth. He had released her from her obligation when he said that it was a personal matter that he should take care of. Even when he swallowed his pride and essentially begged her to accompany him when he returned home she was under no obligation to be there. She wanted to support him in something she knew was going to be difficult, she also wanted to meet the man who failed so badly as a father that his own son couldn't see the simplest flaws in his behaviour. She knew she should have stayed out of this and she would likely hear about it from Junjie later but she was who she was and there was no changing that. [break][break] They had spent the whole of thirty seconds exchanging awkward pleasantries and what could be considered half-truths with each other. Neither one of them wished to make this any worse than it already was for the other and so they sat in silence for most of the carriage ride. Junjie had been quiet the entire time riding by the side of the carriage closest to where his lady was sitting, he would have rather have his sister sit in but it would still be two ladies with a male not of their family or married to. It would have just made this a lot harder than what it was. He did find it strange that the boy had wanted his lady's help and yet he wasn't willing to send a carriage to the Yuiee estate but did seem to expect her to travel to the Golden Dawn's headquarters for him to collect her. [break][break] Surely he could have sent her an invitation and allowed her to meet him at his family's estate like a regular person, but he guessed it could have been tradition for one of the family to collect their guests so wouldn't question it as he would expect anyone to question his or his lady's traditions. Hinota knew that her reactions the previous week most likely hurt him especially when she returned the same energy he had given to her when he called her, her formal title from home. When they arrived it was clear to the young woman that the lady of the house was a graceful woman who loved her son unconditionally, the lord of the house was a completely different matter and it seemed as if he didn't care who knew it which was in poor taste as all nobles had was how they perceived each other. [break][break] She remained quiet on her observations for now but she knew full well that before she left they would end up being revealed, perhaps it would be the shock to the system this arrogant man needed to realize that was why he was seen as weak and why his family hadn't risen through the social ladder. In her traditions, the man was always the head of the family and it was them who was expected to steer the family and help it prosper and flourish but like a pair of scissors they were forever bound with their spouse who was there to help temper their husband and nurture their children. She knew the Western world wasn't exactly like this but she would have believed that it would have been something similar. It had made her think of her own relationship and its compatibility once more. [break][break] "It is traditional to bring a gift when visiting someone's home, especially for the first time as it's thought to bring good energy between the families in the future." she informed the elder woman as she took the items. It would also show both men that there was potential to make a bond between the Suru and Yuiee. "We have master craftsmen at my family estate, I requested that its grandmaster create this as the lotus represents purity rebirth and strength while imperial jade represents status, purity, spirituality, and good health but it can also be seen for luck, power, abundance, friendship, trust, compassion, and the harmony of the world around you. It is also the symbol of longevity, resistance and immortality as it keeps its appearance far longer than other jades." she informed her hostess showing thought had gone into the gift to the family [break][break] "As for the pendant the chrysanthemum in general represents joy, optimism, longevity, and fidelity but then different coloured chrysanthemums can represent different things too. Lavender jade symbolizes hope, rebirth, and new beginnings but also aligns with compassion, love, peace and connection to the divine." Again it showed she had thought through these gifts, especially with what this meeting between Jevi and his family represented. "Please think nothing of it Lady Suru, it was something that not even your son was aware of as we had only met one time before this meeting." it showed just how little she and Jevi interacted. She smiled and looked to Junjie "It would be my pleasure to do this for you Lady Suru." Junjie said respectfully with a bow before he had left. "I believe he brought Da-Hong Pao which is an oolong tea. It has the fragrance of a green tea but the smoothness of a black tea." It was a very rare tea too but one she enjoyed. [break][break] She shook her head once more "Please think nothing of it, my issues with cocoa aren't exactly something I bring up in passing conversations, as you can imagine if such information got into the wrong hands then I could end up in danger." she said politely, although she had said that only the cookies had cocoa she would need to forgo the snacks as there could be cross-contamination. "When I visit again I will bring some snacks too so you can try them." she said showing she wanted to let her also experience food from her homeland. Their pleasant conversation was cut short as Jevi once again found himself at the end of his father's disapproval, this was getting old quickly for the young woman and she let her displeasure be known without holding back her words. [break][break] She had heard Jevi speak her first name and gave a smile, she wasn't a physical fighter but she could certainly cut people down with her words. It would seem as if even though Jevi's father had no leg to stand on he wasn't about to let her have the last word but Jevi interrupted, when he attempted to give Jevi into trouble he interrupted again. It was clear that the white-haired mage was coming into his own as a man. It was then his mother broke the tension offering to show the flower mage her prized roses just as Junjie arrived with their tea. "I would love to see them, I bet they are beautiful." she said her voice once again turning completely warm as if what just happened never occurred. She moved to follow her hostess but stopped turning her back to Jevi's father and holding his sleeve softly. [break][break] "Remember all actions have consequences for good or ill Jevi and you don't have to sacrifice your happiness for others but you do need to be mindful of what could be the possible fallout of situations." she said softly to him she smiled from below her veil "Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm." She reminded them of their last conversation with each other "Also remember that the father is the strength behind a family and should be honoured but it doesn't mean they can treat their family as little more than slaves." she said poking his forehead before fully letting go of him and moving to follow her hostess with Junjie following with their refreshments. They quietly followed leaving the father and son alone as she was taken to the gardens. It was nothing like home but her hostess was correct the garden was beautiful. [break][break] She shook her head "You do not need to apologise to me Lady Suru as you have done nothing wrong." she said stopping by the rose bushes. She would listen to Jevi's mother but as she was about what she had observed she looked to Junjie "Let's not speak on that topic Lady Suru." Things were already complicated she didn't want to bring other factors into why there was tension between herself and Jevi. She shook her head "I didn't do anything special Lady Suru and he decided to return home on his own." her tone was warm, moving her hands she made two chairs and a table made of white rose petals between the bushes and moved to sit down in one allowing Junjie to serve their tea. "Everyone needs support, it is a shame his father is unable to see the error of his ways." she said sighing. [break][break] Hearing her last words she smiled "Please stand up to your husband more Lady Suru, that will encourage his growth to continue." she replied "Upon meeting yourself and your husband I saw where he got his need to wear everything on his sleeve which has its merits but can also be quite the downfall too." she said thoughtfully "Your husband stood off to the side and started belittling your son and though I could tell you were unhappy you did nothing to prevent it." her words were soft, her eyes showing she understood why this might be the case "But it also shows there is no unity, harmony or balance within this family and that your husband merely sees you both as a means to the end. You are a very smart and perceptive woman but you allow him to treat you so poorly. So please, if you want to repay my kindness then please, stand up for yourself and your son." her request was a genuine one.

A warm gift for Hinota Yuiee. After spending a few weeks away from the flower mage, Valo had crafted a beautiful bracelet as a gift for her. The ride to his family’s estate was not a pleasant one, even though seeing Hinota again was pleasant despite the awkwardness between the two of them. Jevi couldn’t help his mind from wandering on the whys and hows. She was betrothed to another, yet his confession of liking her a lot had really thrown her off balance and had caused a lot of emotions to stir up. Could it mean she felt something for him too? He had seen the way she’d blushed, noticed how she didn’t flinch upon him taking her hands to comfort her. Perhaps if he had not used the term princess that whole moment could have gone differently, and yet he was also glad that hadn’t happened. He’d have felt horrible if he was the cause of a good relationship breaking up, that was never his intention even when he was overwhelmed by emotions. In the end, how things played out was likely for the best. After today they could go their separate ways, and surely in time he’d get over the strong feelings he felt for Hinota. Alas, before he could get to that peaceful future, he needed to deal with his turbulent present as the carriage arrived at the Suru estate and the show was about to begin.
[break][break]
His father did not hide how he thought about his son, and belittled Jevi every chance he got with nothing but contempt in his voice. He was not messing around, but with Hinota’s sharp tongue it wasn’t all too bad to get through these moments. Jevi did feel slightly humiliated by his father, especially in front of Hinota, but he’d swallow it all if it meant he could right the wrongs of his past. That’s why he was here, and at least with Hinota present there was a chance of good conversation. A slight chance, but a chance nonetheless. While Jevi tried to converse with his father, Hinota was enjoying a pleasant conversation with his mother from what he could gather.
[break][break]
She had brought gifts for her, and Saki was impressed with the young Lady Yuiee. She already loved the girl, and appreciated all of it while attentively listening to the explanation behind each gift. “You are such a thoughtful young lady. I will ensure we sent something just as memorable to the Yuiee estate soon as a proper thank you.” Even if Hinota were to mention it was not needed, Saki insisted and spoke to her about her tea preferences as well as her deadly caocao allergy. “Da-Hong Pao…I do not believe I have had oolong tea before myself, I tend to stick to the black tea I enjoy, but I am happy to try it. Thank you, Lord Junjie, you are as kind as your Lady.” She gave him a smile and nodded when Hinota spoke of the information getting out to the public. “I shall tell no one, you have my word. You are always welcome here, Lady Yuiee, no presents or snacks required.” Saki enjoyed Hinota’s presence, so she saw no reason to refuse her request to visit again. She’d gladly share tea, snacks and stories any time.
[break][break]
While one conversation was pleasant, the other quickly broke down as Jevi’s father was unwilling to forgive his son and only brought Jevi down further. Daiki was admonished by Hinota, who had clearly had enough from the older man and completely put him down. While Daiki wasn’t ready to give up, Jevi took over and stopped him from speaking up further. He was not going to allow his father to insult Hinota, and with him standing up it was clear to Daiki that his son meant business. As for Saki, she knew this was a moment that needed to be private between father and son, and so she invited Hinota and Junjie out to the garden to see the now blooming roses; the pride of her collection. She actually tended to most of the garden herself, as she found it relaxing. She was about to lead the two through the backdoor, when suddenly Hinota turned back around and walked over to Jevi.
[break][break]
She took the young man’s sleeve and had her back turned to Daiki as she spoke to him in a soft tone, reminding him of the lessons she had taught him. Jevi had not expected her to do anything of the sort, let alone with her holding onto his sleeve, but he was so happy to have her this close. She repeated the same words of last week, as Jevi gave her nod, his smile so genuine and loving and a blush coloring his cheeks. “I promise I won’t forget.” His tone was soft, his eyes looking into Hinota’s as for a moment he felt like there was no one and nothing else. Saki couldn’t help but take in the sight of her son like this. There were sparks flying between the two, their tension was simply undeniable and she was happy for it. Hinota was so caring for him, and that’s all she wanted for her only child. The comment about her husband did not bother her, because she knew Hinota was right and he had failed in his duties. It was a miracle she was still with him in all honesty. Then Hinota poked his forehead, something that seemed to have become a little thing between them. Jevi smiled at the motion, not minding it one bit as he took in her words and whispered a soft “Thank you.”
[break][break]
Saki lead Hinota and Junjie out to the garden, showing her roses as she apologized for her husband’s behavior. As she expected, Hinota told her it wasn’t Saki’s fault and she didn’t feel like she needed to apologize. “I’m glad you feel that way, Lady Yuiee.” Saki then spoke of how she could tell Jevi was quite fond of her, and she hoped it hadn’t caused her any trouble. When Hinota asked not to speak on the topic, Saki simply nodded with a smile. That part was for them to figure out. While she claimed she didn’t do anything special, as his mother Saki knew how hard it could be to break through Jevi’s stubbornness. Then again, she could also see how he felt about Hinota with ease and that put one and one together for her. Either way, she was so grateful to be able to see her son again, and she couldn’t help but giggle when Hinota created two chairs and a table out of white rose petals. “How beautiful.” Saki sat down with her and nodded, sighing softly at her comment about Daiki. She brushed some hair behind her ear as she looked over to Hinota, listening to her talk about Saki needing to stand up more to her husband. She had indeed done nothing to prevent the way her husband spoke to her son, and she looked down a bit in shame as she knew she was partially to blame too.
[break][break]
Saki did lift her head once more to meet Hinota’s gaze as she spoke in a soft tone, not wanting others to hear too much about what she was going to say. “He was not always like this, my husband that is. He has no strong magic, nor does our family have all that much capital compared to many other houses. Yet, that had never bothered him before as we were happy. Daiki was thrilled when we got a son, but when Jevi began to show the potential he had…he became obsessed with our family’s status. He looked into how other families prepared their heirs and copied it, but it never suited him even though he didn’t want to admit this. The methods didn’t suit Jevi either, but they are equally as stubborn and eventually the whole thing imploded and Jevi fled from the estate leaving only a letter.” Some tears formed into her eyes as she recalled the morning she found the letter on his bed stating he was leaving forever. With a handkerchief she dried them as she sighed. “I have tried so many times to talk sense into him, but he refuses to listen…I think the only one who can truly end this is Jevi himself, so I’m hopeful he can achieve that now. I’ve never seen him stand up for himself like that. He used to hide his disapproval behind disobedience and slacking off, but this felt different.” She sighed softly, shaking her head a little before she gave Hinota a determined smile. “Though I can promise you I will not let him send my Jevi away again.”
[break][break]
Meanwhile, inside the living room of the estate, Jevi had finally spoken up against his father and laid out his plans for the future. His father didn’t believe he could do it, calling him weak-willed, but Jevi didn’t back down. He felt empowered both by Hinota telling off his dad as well as her soothing words right before she left. “Oh, so that whole bit just now was not manipulating you? Are you that blind?” His dad sneered, but Jevi gave no leeway as his eyes narrowed. “What was my first and foremost?” “I don’t know wha-“ “What was my first and foremost?!” He repeated, but louder this time as the glare in his eyes left no room for negotiations. Hinota had lit the spark that ignited the fire in his soul, and at this point even his father was too taken aback by his son who had never spoken to him like this. “To not speak one ill word of Lady Yuiee.” Jevi crossed his arms over his chest, the glare slowly fading as he simply nodded. “That’s right. She steered me onto the right path, but she did not manipulate me into this. These future plans are my own, too. She has no idea, I have not mentioned it to her yet.” His father shook his head, still trying to regain his control back over Jevi. “So in the end you’re going to do what I wanted you to do all along anyway?” Jevi nodded in affirmation, because his plans did align with the path his father wanted him on since birth. “Yes, I suppose so. But I’m doing it because I want to, and not because you tell me to.”
[break][break]
It had taken so long for Jevi to finally speak his mind and free himself from the shackles his father had put on him. For the past three years he thought he had been living freely, but looking back he had always been chained down by his father in one way or another. By denying himself to grow to spite his father, he was still being controlled by the man in a way. However, now he was truly free. He had made his own decision on what he wanted in life, and even if that coincided with what his father wanted it didn’t matter simply because he chose to do it for himself. To Jevi, that made all the difference. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a guest to entertain. Unless you can behave yourself and make a proper apology to Lady Yuiee, I do not wish to see you around us for the remainder of this visit.” Jevi turned away from his father, though before he would leave to go into the garden he’d look over his shoulder to the man, a slight smile playing on his lips “Oh, and ensure my bedroom is in order by tonight. I’m moving back in.” His father was left speechless as he saw his son walk out of the room. On the one hand, Daiki couldn’t help but feel happy to see that Jevi was finally going to make something of himself…on the other hand he had been humiliated both by his own son and an even younger girl. He was unsure of what to do, remaining in his seat for a moment longer to contemplate what had happened just now.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] With the journey and initial greetings out of the way things only went downhill very quickly. It wasn't her intention to interfere or cause issues with Jevi's family but seeing him belittled and no one coming to his aid she couldn't stand it any longer so she became his shield. She had to wonder what was wrong with this family, as far as she knew other families would be proud of the man he became, then again, she was quite sure other families would also have treated him better and helped him learn to become the man they hoped him to become. Forcing a way of thinking down a person's throat was never the way to go especially if both sides were stubborn. She could only sigh quietly as the day continued, she hoped the father would behave himself after the last time she admonished him but she doubted this was in the cards. [break][break] Once they had settled in the living room, she had presented her hostess the gifts she brought for her and her home. She explained what the symbolism was behind it all, in all honesty, she believed it was very fitting given this was a time of rebirth for Jevi and hopefully bonds would start to grow and unity would be formed within the currently dysfunctional family. "I believed it was fitting due to the nature that has brought us here today." she said with a warm tone, she was keeping an eye on the conversation with Jevi and his father just in case he required aid once more but something told her that he had everything in hand. "There is no need for that Lady Suru." she insisted, it was her tradition after all and didn't expect others not of her homeland to follow suit. [break][break] She nodded hearing how the elder woman had never tried oolong tea as she usually stuck to the black tea she liked. "Da-Hong Pao is a very rare tea as there are only six trees that give such leaves and they are harvested and made into the tea in a certain way." she informed her, given the rarity it would be apparent this was a very expensive tea. "I am so thankful you are at least willing to try it, if you enjoy it I will send some of the leaves for you to continue to enjoy it." she said showing that she was willing to share what she had. Hearing that her severe reaction to cocoa would remain a secret was relieving to hear. "I am thankful for the open invitation, however, I do not believe Lord Suru is not going to be so welcoming to me." she said softly. [break][break] She didn't blame the elder male it must have been humiliating to be cut down by a young lady who was barely an adult. "I will always accept your invitation to visit if you send one." she said showing she would leave her visits up to her hostess as that way she wouldn't disrupt the balance of her household any more than she already had. Jevi's father had started again and was once again cut down by the delicate young woman who had this time shown her thorns, it was clear she wasn't going to allow him to belittle Jevi anymore than he already had. Her host was ready to say something to her and she would have accepted it and likely bit back but Jevi put a stop to it. He then tried to say something to Jevi but that again was cut short by Jevi it was clear that the swordsman had had enough of his father's attitude. [break][break] Soon enough her hostess believed that the father and son needed some time alone to lock their proverbial horns and so offered to show her, her prized roses. Hinota always loved being around flowers and willingly accepted the offer and stood once more bowing to both men as she moved past Jevi however she took his sleeves reminding him of some of the things they spoke about, she had even moved his hand to his grimoire with the use of his sleeve "Remember what I told you about this, those within our ranks..." she whispered to him, such things didn't define anyone some of the strongest mages had weaker grimoires and elements yet they were still forces. "And about the issues you had in regards to alignment with the wishes of others." she knew he had taken it all in but she felt the need to reassure him. [break][break] She had poked his head before bowing to him once more "I wish your talks well Jevi and that you and your father might join us all in the garden afterwards." she said with a gentle tone as she almost seemed to glide across the living room's floor to catch up to her hostess with Junjie following quietly. Junjie didn't seem impressed that his lady had gotten involved in this mess but he said nothing now as he understood it may end up making things worse. "I'll hold you to those words Jevi." she said crossing the threshold to the garden. She looked at all the different flowers in bloom, it was beautiful. She thought due to the location she would do something special for her hostess and made a garden table and chairs out of white rose petals and took a seat. When the men joined them she would make them chairs. [break][break] "Why would I feel any other way? You have nothing to wrong me." she said honestly "Besides, as I said if someone has wronged me I prefer the apology come from them it is insincere otherwise." she said picking up her tea and taking a sip. Junjie placed down a plate for each lady with a nian gao on it. Hinota looked surprised and looked up at the man. "Luli believed that the house wouldn't have things you could eat due to your diet and prepared in advance." he explained which made her smile, she was so happy with her retainers they took such good care of her even when she never asked that of them "Thank you for taking care of me, both of you." she said him her tone happy "As always princess, we are honoured to serve you in every way we can." he was respectful as he spoke. [break][break] "They actually smell like white roses, I am surprised." she said bringing up her sleeve-covered hand to chuckle, her magic never acted as it should she had spells that smelled of coffee, marshmallows and other kinds of flowers. As they continued talking she could see the shame within the elder woman and looked to Junjie for guidance. "Lady Suru, flowers such as yourself wilt so much faster if they do not keep their heads up and to the sun." he said in a warm tone. "You shouldn't feel shame for your actions, your husband seems like a man who expects obedience from all within their family, who knows how he may have acted had you gone against him." he commented "Like the princess you are strong but there is still fear of the anger if you act out." he said moving to take her hands. [break][break] He never touched anyone in such a manner but he felt she needed the support "You're son is now growing from being a boy to a man and you can lean on him for the protection against that anger." She knew it was easier said than done but it was a reminder that she wasn't alone and she had someone who would support and protect her but she needed to support him too. Once Junjie said what he needed he let go of her hands and returned to his place behind Hinota. Their hostess then gave them some information, that her husband wasn't always like this, instead when he saw Jevi's magic and thus potential he looked at the other families and how their heirs were taught. Hinota could only sigh "Every house is different, and every person is different what may work for one even inside the same home may not work for another." she couldn't believe how foolish the man had been. [break][break] She nodded, she believed that Jevi would indeed bring the balance back to his family, however, she knew it would take time on all ends to do so. The three of them had no idea what was going on inside the house but Hinota couldn't help but look over her shoulder a concerned look in her eyes. She was worried it was clear to see but the house was still standing and there had been no crashes so she guessed everything must have been going smoothly. Well as smoothly as it could with the two.

A warm gift for Hinota Yuiee. After spending a few weeks away from the flower mage, Valo had crafted a beautiful bracelet as a gift for her. To show her that he cares about her, and he plans to do better by her. He never wants to spend weeks away from her again. And as a symbol for his commitment, he got Warmth's Embrace made for her.[break][break]
It is a beautiful red and gold bracelet with shiny clear and red diamonds circled throughout. With graceful elegant carvings of flowers sculpted on the bracelet itself.[break][break]

Saki was having a nice and pleasant conversation with Hinota, listening attentively to her explanation of the gifts. To hear the young lady speak of the nature of this visit made her sigh a bit in relief, as Saki began to understand why Hinota had joined Jevi. Her son needed the support of someone who had become dear to him it seemed. “It is indeed, Lady Yuiee.” When she offered to send back some gifts of her own, she was told it wasn’t needed. She sighed, but smiled softly “Alright then, thank you once more for the beautiful gifts.” Then she spoke of the tea, and Saki began to realize that this particular tea had to be extremely expensive. Well, that made sense for someone of her family. “Of course I’m willing to try, dear. And if that is really alright, then I would be happy to accept your offer.” The open invitation she gave Hinota was half-denied on behalf of her husband, to which Saki nodded gently as she understood. However, she would accept an invitation that Saki herself would send. “That’s perfect, I’m already looking forward to it.” She moved a hand in front of her mouth to hold back a light giggle of joy.
[break][break]
While their conversation was going well, the talk between Jevi and his father quickly broke down to Daiki belittling him again and again. Hinota had had enough of it, and she took up the role as shield and told his father off. This support was what Jevi needed to finally get over his fear of speaking up to his father, and so when he was going to try to berate Hinota he stopped his old man. When it was then turned on him, Jevi stopped him again. He had found the confidence he needed, and when his mother saw the change in him she quickly guided Hinota to the garden so that Jevi and Daiki could be alone. However, Hinota was not simply moving away from the living room without giving Jevi some last minute advice. The elf couldn’t keep his eyes off her, feeling her hold his sleeve and move his hand to his grimoire again as she repeated the thing she told him in a whisper. “Mhm, I know.” He returned her whisper, slightly lost in the moment he shared with her.
[break][break]
Once she’d poked his head, he smiled again and watched her bow before wishing him well. She moved so elegantly across the room, and joined his mother to the gardens after saying she hoped to see him and his father there after their talks concluded. She was going to hold him to his promise, and he nodded, his right hand moving to his heart. He could feel the quickened heartbeat clearly, but he couldn’t just stand there and daydream as he had an important talk to get to. He took the reigns of the conversation, and told his father his plans for the future. Even if his father doubted him, it didn’t matter, and even if his goals now aligned with his father’s he didn’t care. This was for him. For his growth and future. However as he tried to accuse Hinota of manipulating him, Jevi got angry. He had just told his father to not speak badly about her, and yet that’s what he did. His resolute outburst had silenced his father, and Jevi had taken full control of the conversation now. Daiki could feel he had no sway over his son anymore, and in some ways that was a good thing, yet he still didn’t like it for obvious reasons.
[break][break]
Meanwhile in the garden, Hinota and Saki continued their talks. This young lady was incredibly insightful, and Saki adored her and had no issue listening to her speak of the issues she’d seen within her family. She was aware of them herself, but lacked the strength to fight back against her husband properly. He was quite overbearing, but she still loved the man as she remembered the better times. To see Junjie care for the princess so sweetly was a sight she enjoyed, a smile on her face. Hinota made chairs and a table out of white roses and commented they actually smelled like white roses too. “Do they not do so otherwise, Lady Yuiee?” She asked, merely curious which was clear in her tone. To hear she was not to feel shame was a relief on her weary heart. Junjie was such a kind man, and hit the nail on the head. Saki couldn’t help but squeeze Junjie’s hands for support, appreciating the gesture. “I truly hopes he stays here again…not just because I miss him, but because it’s needed to get this family back on track.” She knew he was right. She could rely on her son, but she needed to make sure to support him too. “Thank you, Junjie.”
[break][break]
Saki decided that she trusted Hinota and Junjie both enough to share a bit of the history of the Suru family. Her husband wasn’t always like this, but the thought of power and wealth got to his head when he noticed the potential Jevi held for greatness. Potential Daiki himself never had, which offered opportunities he himself would never get. However, he went about it the wrong way with Jevi and with the both of them being so stubborn, it eventually imploded and lead to Jevi leaving the estate. “I tried to tell him that too.” Saki sighed softly. She was wiser than her husband, and understood Jevi far better as he took after her for a lot of things. She noted Hinota looked back towards the house with a concerned look on her face, making her smile. “He will be okay, Lady Yuiee, you need not worry.” Though seeing her concern only made her feel more confident about what she had seen blossom between the two of them.
[break][break]
Just as Saki had spoken up with confidence about her son, Jevi did indeed leave the house as he strolled calmly into the garden. The air about him was different, in a good way. His smile was relaxed, and genuine. His stance wasn’t tense, and his back was fully straight. A weight had been lifted off his shoulders, and the relief that came with it was a truly great feeling. “Apologies for the interruption, Lady Hinota. Lord Junjie.” He bowed slightly to them both, it was clear that he had won the battle that had just taken place. Once he had bowed, he looked over to his mother. “Mother.” He stepped over to her, taking her hand and gently raising her from the white rose petal chair before he wrapped his arms around her and gave her a tight hug. He nestled his face near the crook of her neck, having to lean down to do so, as he spoke in a soft tone. “I’m moving back home. I will not leave you again.” Things were going to be different now. His father would not be in control anymore, it would be Jevi who would keep him in check while he’d work hard on his future.
[break][break]
As he pulled away from his mother again, he helped her get seated again just because he wanted to. For the first time today the atmosphere did not feel as tense and awkward to him. Jevi turned to Hinota and spoke with a proud smile on his face. “I’ve told my father my plans for the future, and I wish to share them with you as well, Lady Hinota.” He was confident, that much was clear, truly having become a new man over this experience. The shackles of his past had been cast off, and now he could leap head first into the future that he envisioned. “I will aim to become the vice-captain of the Crimson Lions, then the captain before I will take over the Suru family as well. I’ve decided this is the path I wish to take in life, no matter how long it may take me.” His stubbornness had many downsides to it, but there was one major upside as well. When Jevi set his mind on something, he would make it happen. His mother beamed with pride at her son. “I’m so happy to see you have chosen your own path, sweetheart.” Jevi nodded in affirmation, feeling good about the choices he had made, though he wondered how Hinota would respond to this.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] The conversation between the two women was going well, hinota had presented her hostess with the gifts she had brought and even explained the symbolism behind the flowers and materials used for them. She was told it was a thoughtful gift and that her hostess would need to do the same in return. Hinota politely declined the offer saying it wasn't needed, after all, in her culture to accept something right away would be seen as rude. "Of course, I'm sure the pendant will bring out your natural beauty even more." she complimented the woman on her youthful appearance. Hinota was very demure and humble, she didn't like to be flashy like some other nobles she knew but she did allow herself one luxury that even then was hidden in plain sight ordinarily—her tea. She had quite the selection to choose from some rarer than others but she was still willing to offer and share her supplies. [break][break] "Why wouldn't it be alright Lady Suru? It is from my personal collection." she said showing she honestly didn't understand why there would be any issues, she didn't see why there would be any issues even if it was from the family supply. She had no idea how much Junjie brought with him but she would need to make sure to send some when she got home if her hostess enjoyed it. When she was given the offer to visit she partially declined because she was quite sure that the head of the family didn't like her especially when she tore into him. However, she stated that she would accept the offer if she was invited. She could tell the elder woman knew why she had done this and accepted the answer saying she couldn't wait for the next visit. She smiled hearing the woman giggle. [break][break] It seemed like she and her hostess were getting on swimmingly, in honesty, in the time she had been allowed past the mists of her estate she hadn't made many friends, this realization made her close her eyes and her smile faded briefly but they were back on it quickly. She understood this was likely why she was enjoying her time with Jevi's mother because it felt as if they were starting to build the foundation of friendship. Still, the conversation between her host and Jevi wasn't going so well, even a blind person could see that was a sinking ship and there weren't any lifeboats. She hated how Jevi's father belittled him, it was like trying to nurture a plant with poison and still expecting it to bloom with flowers. It didn't work. She had had enough and showed exactly what happened to a flower that had been neglected and fed poison. [break][break] She not only came to Jevi's defence but she belittled the man by calling out every flaw in his treatment of Jevi putting the fault squarely on his shoulders. It was then that Jevi's mother intervened offering to show her prized roses, she had accepted and both she and Junji followed but not before she reminded Jevi of the lessons they went over the week before, before poking his head. he told her he knew. She was glad that their last meeting had helped him so much, she knew today would likely bring consequences her way but was willing to take them, she said she would be there to aid him when he needed it and she was a person of her word. Once they had briefly spoken she bowed to both men and moved to the garden allowing them to have their conversation in peace. [break][break] Outside in the garden, her conversation with her hostess continued as she pointed out what she had observed, the elder woman seemed to take it in stride as if she knew of these problems. The floral mage could see why her hostess hadn't spoken out about it, her husband was quite the dominating force. This was something the young woman understood all too well given her culture, even if she was outspoken now inside her family's estate she wouldn't dare even have a hair out of place let alone go against the men of her family. She then made a table and chairs out of white rose petals and commented on how they smelled of them. It seemed as if her comment caught her hostess off-guard. "No, this is the first time they've ever smelled as they should." she said seemingly embarrassed at that fact. [break][break] "I've got spells that smell of coffee, marshmallows and chocolate but there are also times that the flowers will smell of the wrong flower." she said her cheeks pinking as she put her cup down to hold her sleeves. What happened next she didn't know how to handle, she was perceptive and could navigate minefields but she was still very young so there were still things she was uncertain of. This was shown as she looked up to Junjie for aid on how to strengthen their hostess's resolve. Junjie stepped forward to take on this task and although he wasn't one for touch he held her hands as he spoke softly to her, he felt the squeeze on his hands and knew that his words had helped her. He was glad to help the woman that he was sure his lady would one day call a friend, after this, he moved back to his post. [break][break] "I believe he will, he knows he does not need to run now." she said thoughtfully a smile on her face. It seemed all he needed was someone to show him that it was alright to have a voice that conflicts and that it was fine to align with someone you hated because of how you got to that goal. It was then that their hostess opened up telling them it wasn't always like this, it was when he saw the rare magic Jevi was born with that he looked to others on how to raise his heir. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be too much of an issue but he took it to an extreme that his family was more than servants to him as they were walking on eggshells constantly. "I can understand your plight and I assure you I will mention nothing of what you have said to me. Junjie isn't much of a talker so you needn't worry about him saying anything." she assured her. [break][break] She could have said something about the stubbornness of men in her culture but she didn't want to offend Junjie "Sometimes people can't see past the end of their noses." she said her tone saddened knowing it was true. It was when she looked back to the house with concern that her hostess spoke about how Jevi would be okay "It's not him I'm worried about." she said not skipping a beat. She was well aware Jevi could handle himself now he had found his spine and voice she was just wondering under which rose bush they were going to likely have to put her husband's body under. Soon enough Jevi emerged from the house and he looked like a completely different person he seemed relaxed and stood straight as he walked towards the trio. [break][break] As he approached she stood and bowed to greet him "You have nothing to apologise about, you were dealing with family business while the ladies were talking." she said with a soft tone "You're mother has been a gracious hostess." she said sitting once more. Junjie bowed but remained quiet as he was addressed. Hinota wasn't kidding when she said the man didn't speak much. She turned her attention to Junjie for a moment as Jevi and his mother had a moment, it was personal and not something she needed to witness but when it was over she turned her attention back to them. She moved her hand and another chair was created so he could join them but this time it was blue rose petals. It was then he informed her of a small amount that was discussed inside the house. [break][break] Hinota looked puzzled for a moment "Why go for the vice-captaincy if your end goal is captain? Why not just go for captain?" she would ask him "Besides, Lord Ravencrest is an illusion mage so you need to be highly perceptive if you wish to defeat him. Lord Kasai is more a head-on fighter." she commented. It was then she realized why he was going down this route "I forgot you are new to the knights and as you need through the class system you believe that you must also take the vice-captaincy before you can take the captaincy. This is not the case, I never had vice-captaincy I gave my challenge for captaincy after the former Golden Dawn captain commented razing the witch's forest for the second time." she explained showing after a certain point you could challenge for the two highest positions of a squad but you didn't need the former for the latter. [break][break] She understood why he wanted to concentrate on his career before taking over being head of his family, it was a tactical move that would allow him to be respected by the other heads of families and show that he should be taken seriously. "Also, it is a good tactical move that you have taken and ensures your future and the future of your family." she said her tone showing she approved of his long-term goals. "I will do my best to help you on the path you have decided, I'll even see if Junjie is willing to help you." she said looking back to him. Junjie remained quiet on the matter, he could decline but this seemed important to her so he would comply when asked and even ask his sister for aid when needed.

The bracelet is always warm but never too hot for comfort[break][break]

Saki was having a good time with Hinota, talking about the gifts the young lady had brought with her as a sign of good things to come in the future between both families. To be complimented on her natural beauty brought a slight blush to her cheeks as she put the pendant on. “You are too sweet, Lady Yuiee.” As for the tea, hearing about how difficult it was to obtain she had no issue in figuring out how expensive this specific tea was. This meant that she couldn’t eagerly accept the generous offer, and made sure that it truly was alright with Hinota to part with such a delicacy. However, Hinota thought nothing of it, stating it was of her private collection and thus it was her choice. “Then I graciously accept, I’m eager to taste it.” She had yet to try the tea, but she had no doubt it would be delicious.
[break][break]
A warm cup of tea would also help ease the tension of the situation right next to them, where Daiki did not spare his son even after having been admonished by Hinota earlier. The man had lost his way, that much was clear to see, and attempted to force Jevi down into obedience every step of the way. It was a classic technique to belittle your subject to the point where they believed they were nothing, and couldn’t do anything but obey the orders given. This could have worked on numerous people, though Jevi was not one of them. He had inherited his father’s stubbornness, and while he had never completely fallen prey to his father’s ways, it had still burdened him enough to destroy his own ambitions as a way to spite the man who seemed to loathe him.
[break][break]
A lot happened in quite a short time, as Hinota could not stand seeing Jevi belittled anymore and so started laying out the facts towards Daiki. Jevi’s shortcomings and mistakes were a result of his choices in parenting, and she herself had achieved more growth and understanding with the white-haired swordsman than his father had in all these years. Jevi was surprised to see Hinota speak up on his behalf like this, because she knew how tactical and clever she was. If she had chosen to act like this, surely she had already seen the consequences that followed and had accepted them. Jevi, on his part, didn’t know what these consequences could be, but he had to trust Hinota’s decisions. Even if he didn’t, it was too late now to turn it back. Though, it wasn’t too late to keep things from escalating between Hinota and his father, and so when Daiki wanted to continue his arguing Jevi shut him up by asserting his own voice and authority. Whether Daiki liked it or not, Jevi was the future of his family as his only child, so he did have a voice. It was thanks to Hinota that he finally dared to bring that voice to the surface.
[break][break]
Saki on her end decided it was best for the two men of her family to have their discussion in private, and as such she offered Hinota a tour of her garden as the roses were in bloom. Hinota obviously understood the implication, and accepted the offer. Before she fully left the room, she reminded Jevi gently of the things they had spoken about. Her soft voice and mannerisms completely relaxed Jevi, and at the same time made his heart beat accelerate once more. It was a strange mix of emotions, but in the end he remembered her teachings well as he had not stopped to think about them for the past week. He also promised her that he was going to ensure his own happiness was taken into account as well with his actions, and so he was left with nothing but determination and a fire lit in his soul to step up and take charge of his own life and of the family matters at hand. He was no longer the little boy that ran away from home three years ago. He had become a man, and it was time to act like it.
[break][break]
The conversation with his father was dominated by the son, much to Daiki’s dismay. The outcome was something Daiki enjoyed, how could he not? His son was finally on the path that he had wanted him on for so long. However, as Jevi left to go to the gardens he could not get over the feeling of humiliation he had felt. “That girl…” He mumbled under his breath, recalling the scene he had just witnessed between the two of them. Whereas Saki had enjoyed seeing Hinota care for Jevi in the way she did, Daiki felt it was the reason he had lost any grip he had left on his son. To think he’d finally chosen to take charge because of some girl he had only just met. While he was growing up, he had never shown much interest in girls, so to see him change his ways over Hinota was jarring and Daiki couldn’t help but blame her for his loss of power. There was only one thing he could do to get back at the both of them, and it wouldn’t require a single ill word about Lady Yuiee. A letter written to her father about her factual behavior was going to be more than enough to settle this matter.
[break][break]
Meanwhile, Saki spoke to Hinota about the current situation in the family, as the older lady was at a loss of what more she could do to change things for the better. Saki was confused when Hinota seemed to be surprised that her rose petals did indeed smell like rose petals. It seemed she was a bit touchy about the subject, but Saki wasted no time in reassuring the lovely young lady. “Would a rose still be called a rose if it smelled like a tulip? I believe it would. It is the beauty of the flower, or in this case your magic, that matters in the end and I believe your magic to be gorgeous, Lady Yuiee. Not to mention all those smells are pleasant either way.” She smiled at Hinota, taking her seat as she delved deeper into the family’s history to explain her problems. Due to Hinota looking at Junjie for guidance, the man took her hands and reassured her while also explaining her that she needed to keep supporting her son now that he was on his way to become a true man. She thanked him, feeling uplifted by his words.
[break][break]
Hinota seemed to believe that Jevi was going to stay at the estate from now on, and Saki nodded in agreement to her assessment that he knew he no longer had to run. If anything him speaking up earlier was indicative of that. To have the support of the young lady was something Saki greatly appreciated, and to have her keep the secret of her family was a great relief. “I’m grateful for your discretion and listening ear, Lady Yuiee.” When it came to the stubbornness of the men in her family Saki could tell that Hinota had similar experiences, even though she didn’t directly mention it. She nodded as Hinota mentioned some people couldn’t look past their noses while she took a sip of the tea Hinota had brought. She was pleasantly surprised, which was clear on her face. “Oh my, this truly is delicious tea.” The Lady of house Suru would not mind indulging herself with this tea every once in a while, that much was obvious.
[break][break]
When she saw Hinota look over to the house with concern, she reassured her that Jevi would be fine, though that was apparently not what she was worried about. Saki smiled thoughtfully, looking at the tea in her cup. “He is a gentle soul, you know?” She spoke softly, telling Hinota more about Jevi. “To have him truly hurt someone, they would need to push him far past his breaking point. He can be hotheaded, even impulsive at times when strong feelings are involved, but-“ She raised her eyes from her cup of tea to look back at Hinota. “That’s only because he has such a big heart.” Of course this was a mother speaking, but what Saki said rang true. Jevi wore his heart on his sleeve and felt strongly about many things, which was both a strength and a weakness. The noble lifestyle where he couldn’t be as upfront and honest as he wished to be was therefore a struggle for him, it always had been, but it was something he could learn to get used to.
[break][break]
It wasn’t long before Jevi arrived in the gardens, his demeanor clearly changed from before. His back was straightened as he walked tall and proud, and his smile was relaxed. The weight he had carried for so long had been lifted from his shoulders, and it allowed him to step into the future. He apologized to Hinota and Junjie for the interruption like a good host should, and as expected Hinota told him he had nothing to apologize for as he had a family matter to attend to. “Thank you for your understanding, Lady Hinota.” At this point he still had to keep up the formality between the two of them, but he didn’t mind it as much as he had at the start of the day. Throughout the day Hinota had shown she cared for him in her own way, and Jevi was relieved because of it. Even though things had become slightly awkward between them, it looked like they were slowly moving past it. He then went up to his mother and embraced her, informing her that he was coming back home much to Saki’s pleasure as the woman was too overwhelmed by her own emotions to say anything just yet.
[break][break]
Hinota created a chair of blue rose petals for him, as opposed to the white ones she had made for herself and his mother. It looked like she had quickly learned his favorite color, which made him happy. “Thank you.” As he sat down, he began to tell Hinota about his future plans to become captain of the Crimson Lions, believing he needed to become a vice-captain first. When Hinota wondered why he had chosen this route, she quickly realized that he was new to the Magic Knights and thus didn’t know he could skip the position and aim for captaincy right away. “Really? I did indeed believe I would need to climb through every rank, but that is wonderful news. When the time comes, a fight with Lord Kasai does play more to my own strengths.” He brought his hand to his chin, mulling over the new information before nodding. “Then I’ll skip over the vice-captain step, and follow your advice.” Not only would it save him time, but he also knew that if he took over the vice-captain spot from Hania, he’d then only have to take it back once he took the captain spot. This just sounded like a much better option, and he was happy Hinota had been so gracious to let him know as well as showing her understanding of him being new.
[break][break]
Hinota shared how she had also skipped over the position of vice-captain herself, to which Jevi nodded. That meant there was indeed a precedent, and even if they were from different squads that didn’t matter all too much as the procedures for positions were likely the same. To be complimented by her of all people on his tactical choices made him smile shyly as he rubbed the back of his head. “I thought as much. If I came back after three years as a lower ranked Magic Knight and took over my family it would not be a great look to the outside. I wish to prove my worth to the kingdom first, so no one will doubt that I can lead my own family too.” Hinota caused him to blush lightly when she once more extended her helping hand, offering him her assistance in his way to captaincy. He had truly believed Hinota would not want to see him again, but hearing her say this meant that she was not completely closed off to the idea of them working together in the future. It was a relief to hear, because while he understood a romantic relationship between the two was unlikely to happen due to her heart already being taken, he would be happy to be her trusted friend and colleague. “I cannot express how grateful I am to the both of you for your support, both for today and the future. Thank you, Lady Hinota.” There was a warm smile on his face, showing that every word he spoke was genuine and true, as they always were.
[break][break]
To Jevi’s surprise, his father did eventually show up in the garden as well. He knew what he had told Daiki to do if he wished to be around the guests today, and kept a close eye on him to see if he would. When Daiki approached, he kept a proper distance from Hinota before he bowed down for her and spoke up. “After the talk I had with my son I realize my behavior was out of line. I should have been more mindful of the guests on my estate. I humbly apologize, and hope you will be able to forgive me in time for my transgressions.” Jevi wasn’t sure if he fully believed the apology, but so long as his father played nice he was alright with that for now. Daiki stood back up and excused himself. “There was some important work I needed to finish today, and the visit has turned into a longer one than expected. Please, excuse me as I go tend to my duties. My wife and son will be happy to entertain you both, Lady Yuiee and Lord Junjie.” With that, the man took his leave, not wanting to stay around them for longer as it would result in more trouble. He’d get back at his son and the girl he was clearly fond of, and the process for this had already been set into motion.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] Hinota smiles her eyes showing her guard was completely down and she was relaxed for the first time since they had arrived. "Is it sweet to speak the truth?" she would ask her, it was clear that she believed that the elder woman was beautiful. Junjie moved to help their hostess with her new necklace, once done he returned to Hinota's side. It was clear that the quiet quiet man took his duties to his lady seriously but would help others if it didn't inconvenience her or even himself. She knew given the information she had given her hostess would have figured out that this was a rare and very expensive tea but she was surprised she didn't accept it straight away as many other nobles would have, instead, she wanted to make sure with the floral mage that she was sure about giving away something so precious. [break][break] Hinota was the giving type so she saw no issue in sharing things especially if she believed another would enjoy it. She stated that she was sure as it was from her personal supply and with that her hostess agreed to her offer to have some sent. "I'm sure you'll enjoy it." she said with a warm tone "I'll even bring another tea with me for us to chat over next time I visit." she said thinking it would be something the pair could bond over alongside flowers. Tea was a good way to bring harmony and relax one's mind or at least that's what she believed. She closed her eyes for a moment, she knew at least in part of the conversation she would be named, it would be hard for her not to given she was the catalyst for all this and his father tried to say something to her but with it being shut down it was bound to come back up. [break][break] "I can see your husband wants obedience and control of his family but there's a way to do it that they will be willing to comply and not even realize what is happening." she said opening her eyes it was clear she had been thinking over everything, it was also clear that due to how her mind worked she knew of a way it could have been done, so much so that Jevi would have been a willing puppet. "Sometimes you need to take a detour to get to the end but that is neither here nor there." the damage had been done and there was no way of undoing it, even if she gave her host the keys to the kingdom now it wouldn't work as Jevi had tempered himself to loathe his father. [break][break] then again, she knew ways even now that could cause someone like Jevi could be subjugated but she didn't like thinking those thoughts, it went against her nature and even if it didn't she wasn't about to help his father break him. In a way, the father had succeeded in breaking his son, just not in the way he intended. He had broken the want to advance and grow not only as a person but in the tasks he did. To Hinota this was a sad thing, no one should have to live without love, dreams, aspirations and goals. It would be better to be dead than live such a life in her opinion but it wasn't something she didn't want to think about, she was glad that he grew his wings and took flight. It wasn't something she would ever be able to fully attain but was glad to see another do it. [break][break] The floral mage was a tactician, one of the best the kingdom had to offer. She had already weighed the consequences of her actions and it was bad, real bad, but she was willing to deal with that when it happened. Even if she wasn't prepared for what was to come it was too late for her to change it as it was in the past. She sat with her eyes closed for a moment there was a smile but it wasn't showing joy it was forlorn. It hadn't gone unnoticed by Junjie but he didn't comment on it and looked to their hostess bringing his finger to his lips as an indicator to please not speak on it. He knew his lady better than anyone and she would pull away on such matters rather than speak on them. He hoped she wouldn't take offence and bowed his head a little as a means of thanking her. [break][break] Hearing her hostess speak she opened her eyes and looked at her "I am not so much worried about how my magic smells, I was just surprised that the flowers smelt correctly." she said with a warm tone. Even though her hostess said that the scents were pleasant to the younger woman she didn't like the smell of coffee or chocolate but she could understand just why the other said that they were, everyone was different after all. When she saw the hostess was down she didn't know what to do so looked for Junjie to lend support which he did and it seemed as if it did the trick. She smiled "Discression about what?" she would ask playing as if she had no idea what the elder woman was talking about, she said showing she meant what she said. [break][break] The elder woman finally tried the tea and it seemed as if she enjoyed it "I am glad you think so, once I return home I will send some or I shall bring some personally next time I visit" she said contently as she picked up her own cup. With a single graceful movement, she moved her other hand to her veil, her sleeve covering her mouth as she took a sip, bringing the cup away before she lowered her other hand. She truly hated veils but she understood the use and need for them so didn't complain about them all that often. "Even the most gentle of souls have breaking points Lady Suru." she said quietly, she hoped he would never get there but she knew one day it would most likely happen. "A big heart on one's sleeve is a target, he needs to learn to hide it." she said thoughtfully back to when he confessed to liking her. [break][break] Eventually, Jevi entered the garden looking as if the world's weight had been lifted from his shoulders and they greeted one another. "There is nothing to understand. I have been happily conversing with your mother and she has found a love for oolong tea." she said with a smile. The two were still being extremely formal with one another due to the things which happened the week before. As Jevi was having a tender moment with Jevi, Junjie moved to his knees in front of Hinota bringing his hands to bow as he did when greeting someone, this confused her as he only done this when he had something on his mind and he knew he was going to overstep. "J... Junjie?" she whispered her tone "Gōngzhǔ, duìbùqǐ, wǒ ràng nǐ shīwàngle." he said his eyes lowered "Nǐ zài shuō shénme? Nǐ méiyǒu ràng wǒ shīwàng." she replied [break][break] "Nǐ cuòle, wǒ yīnggāi zǔzhǐ nǐ de. Qǐng yuánliàng wǒ." he continued "Wǒ méiyǒu fàncuò, wǒ zhīdào rúguǒ wǒ tiǎozhàn tā huì fāshēng shénme, wǒ jiēshòu kěnéng fāshēng de hòuguǒ" she replied it was clear whatever was being said was serious and they didn't want it to be known. "Wǒ yīnggāi zuò dé gèng hǎo, bù huì zài ràng nǐ shīwàng" he replied "Junjie..." she whispered moving to her knees and hugging him "Xièxiè nǐ bǎohù wǒ" her voice was soft, it was clear he was caught off-guard but moved his arms around her, he could feel her shaking, he knew she was scared "And I will until my dying breath princess." he whispered so only she could hear. Once he felt her settle he stood bringing her to her feet checking over her clothing to make sure they were still pristine, when happy he allowed her to sit down. [break][break] "Please forgive our rudeness, he wished to bring something to my attention regarding home." she wore a smile it was flawless showing it was nothing serious. "Ah... ah yes." she said happy that Jevi had changed the subject. She knew given his magic that Ard would be a better matchup than Hania would be, it also meant that Hania wouldn't have to step down just to retain the vice-captaincy again wasting everyone's time. He said he would follow her advice and go straight for the captaincy chair "It would save your vice-captain a headache that he likely doesn't want nor need." she said thoughtfully, she had already told Jevi recently about Hania's responsibilities so he likely understood that unless he got his sensory up Hania would make it short and sweet so he could get back to it without looking back. [break][break] "It is a good way of looking at it and it would make sure your words hold more sway with others as you would be accomplished." she stated showing she approved of his way of thinking. She noticed the blush when she offered her aid once more, she was still a new captain herself and didn't have much understanding of the usual tasks a magic knight did as she went from one death trap to the next to help protect the kingdom. She hadn't even told Hania what had happened in the last mission they had done together nor had she made the request not to work with him again. She said it was due to the mixed complex feelings she was having also she didn't want it to affect his duties or relationship with the ice mage. "There is no need to thank me, I am not doing anything special." she said with a warm tone, this was just something a decent human being would do in her opinion. [break][break] Eventually the head of the house would enter the garden and approach the group, Hinota made him a chair of white roses also to sit but he didn't instead he spoke to her and Junjie directly. Standing she and Junjie bowed to him traditionally. "Emotions were running high and I'm sure you were speaking out of fear that he may have perished and having seen him again after such a long absence." she said to him her words were calm, she didn't believe for a second this was a sincere apology as he had to save face. "I am thankful that you realized that you shouldn't have spoken to him like that, it was off-putting as a guest, had it been anyone else it would be news already." she informed him everyone there would know that to be the truth "However, I do not like to gossip or cause in needed tension or pain so let us not think about it any longer." she said playing the role that was needed at current. [break][break] Hearing that he had other business that he had to tend to she allowed his chair to move back into petals that moved in the wind "I'm sorry that is the case, then again I really should head back to my squad and deal with the paperwork." she was happy with the results so she was reasonably sure she had no reason to remain any further than she had. She already felt like she had overstayed her welcome thanks to the father's attitude in general but was sure that Jevi would be able to handle it going forward "But as my magic is sustaining the garden furniture just now, it would only be polite to allow Lady Suru to enjoy her tea." she said moving to take her seat as the father left them

While Jevi was fighting with his father inside the estate, Hinota and Saki were enjoying their tea and talking about the situation amongst themselves. Saki felt comfortable enough to share some of the history of the family with Hinota to try and make her see that things hadn’t always been like this. Both Daiki and Jevi were incredibly stubborn, though that was no excuse for the horrid way the man had been treating his son. Saki knew she should have intervened more than she had, but it was hard to stand up against a man like Daiki who was so loud and overbearing. When Hinota noted that Daiki seemed to want control over his family, but had yet to realize that there was a way to do so without the others even noticing, Saki nodded and sighed. She knew Jevi’s heart better than anyone, and the thought of Daiki ever stooping so low frightened her. “I pray he never realizes…” She whispered softly, as she was not sure if she could handle seeing her son being emotionally manipulated. It was clear that Hinota had already learned as much as well, and she couldn’t help but wonder what they had all been talking about.
[break][break]
Thankfully, after some encouragement from Junjie, their talk turned more pleasant as they spoke of Hinota’s magic and the odd way it could smell at times. Saki reassured the younger lady that there was nothing wrong with any of these smells after seeing Hinota’s light embarrassment, though she noted that she wasn’t so much upset about the usual state of things and more so surprised at it smelling right this time around. “They do smell delightful, much like my own roses.” She spoke softly, enjoying the tea. She spoke more about the history of Daiki and Jevi, and how her husband had grown to become blinded by power in a way. Hinota assured her that none of this would be brought out in the open, and even joked a little bit about her discretion causing Saki to giggle softly. “It seems I may have forgotten as well, dear.” She gladly played along, feeling relieved that she had been able to share these sorrows with someone even if it was just for a moment.
[break][break]
When it came to the tea, Saki was sold. She loved the flavor and to hear Hinota would bring her more the next time she were to visit was something she happily accepted from the younger lady. She knew telling her no was not going to change her mind, and she had already ensured that it was no problem for her to bring such a lavish gift over. It became apparent that Hinota was a bit worried about Jevi and his father, though while Saki believed she was worried about Jevi at first, it turned out she was more worried about a potential fallout and Jevi taking things too far. Saki knew he wouldn’t, telling Hinota that while he was hotheaded he wouldn’t hurt anyone unless pushed to his limits. That big heart of his did not always do him any favors, and Saki knew that as well. Hinota’s comment about his big heart being a target was something Saki agreed with. “Yes, it most certainly is. I’ll try and guide him better now that he has returned to the estate.” She smiled softly at the thought of seeing her son more again. She was not going to let Daiki ruin everything again, she’d make sure of that.
[break][break]
Eventually Jevi did return to the gardens, and Saki couldn’t believe the young man she saw before her. His posture, his smile, the manner of speech. It was like he had transformed into a completely new person. Jevi chuckled softly at hearing that his mother had taken to the oolong tea. “Is that so, mother? Then we’ll need to make sure we have plenty of it for you to enjoy.” After holding his mother for a moment, promising her to move back in, he sat down with her and noted that Junjie spoke to Hinota in their language. It looked serious, but obviously he was not going to try and pry. Neither was his mother, as Saki leaned over towards him and cupped his face in both her hands. “Let me take a good look at you…” Jevi couldn’t help but blush lightly from embarrassment, but he didn’t pull away. “Mother…” But Saki shushed him gently and spoke in a warm, soft tone. “I have not seen you in three years, my sweet boy. You truly have grown so much.” It was not just due to what happened today, Jevi had literally and figuratively changed quite a bit ever since he had left the estate. His experiences while wandering were numerous, and had slowly guided him back here with Hinota being the eventual last push he needed to face his father. She pushed his hair back with one hand, exposing his forehead before she leaned over fully to plant a kiss on it. Without another word, she returned to her seat, hoping she had given Hinota and Junjie plenty of privacy.
[break][break]
Hinota excused herself for the moment she shared with Junjie, to which Saki replied with a slightly sly smile. “Hm? What rudeness? Oh, I apologize I must have missed something as I shared a moment with my son. It seems we’re even.” Saki drank some more of her tea as Jevi nodded in agreement with his mother. “No need to apologize, Lady Hinota.” They conversed a bit about Jevi’s plans to shoot for the captaincy of the Crimson Lions, learning that he could in fact skip being the vice-captain. That was good because of numerous reasons, as for one it would save him time and it would save Hania a headache. “Indeed it would, so this is the best course of action to take.” She complimented him on his strategy, and Jevi was glad to hear her praises. They meant a lot coming from her, not due to his feelings, but due to the fact she was an amazing tactician. Again she said she wasn’t doing anything special, and even though Jevi disagreed he was not going to argue with her about it. He returned her warm tone, genuinely grateful for everything she had done. “That may be so, but it would reflect poorly on myself if I did not express my earnest gratitude to you.” It was clear that he was becoming more comfortable in his role, and that the first steps had been set towards his future.
[break][break]
His father ended up showing up as well, surprisingly enough, but he behaved himself well enough. Did Jevi believe his apology to be a real one? Not by a long shot, but so long as he was playing nice it was fine. Hinota on her turn was able to use her words perfectly again, admonishing her father slightly by giving him a perfect out by blaming it on the emotions he must have felt seeing his son again. “To see him alive was indeed quite a shock. I thank you for your consideration and discretion.” He excused himself by saying he had more work to do, hearing Hinota say she too should soon return to her duties but was going to allow Lady Suru to finish her tea first. “Of course, enjoy your stay for as long as you wish.” Daiki gave them another bow before leaving the gardens, going back into the estate towards his office.
[break][break]
Meanwhile, Saki suddenly seemed to remember something now that duties had been brought up. She placed her cup down on the table and spoke. “That reminds me. I heard from the shop owner nearby that it was you two who solved a mystery involving cattle going missing and such. He was very grateful to have products to sell once more, though he seemed slightly worried about another rumor coming from Sosshi if I’m not mistaken. Something about a monster.” She frowned a bit, looking from Hinota to Jevi. “Would you two be willing to look into this? The poor man seemed beside himself with worry. Apparently he gets products from there too and is worried his supply will be held back once more.” Jevi looked from his mother to Hinota, his mind quickly twisting and turning. Hinota had said she didn’t wish to work with him again, but at the same time she had said on her own volition she was willing to help him to become captain. “Are you willing to take me with you once more, Lady Hinota? If so, I’d be happy to accompany you and solve another mystery.” The ball was in her court with this, as he didn’t want to accept on their behalf. She could use numerous excuses to put someone else on the job that wouldn’t tarnish her reputation in the slightest.
[attr="class","tamaflowersscroll"] Hinota looked at the elder woman and smiled "As much as you're husband may act oblivious he is far more observant than you give him credit for." she would say quietly, ignorance was quite an easy tool to use as people would open not hesitate to speak openly around you. It was one of the reasons she knew quite a bit more than her brothers, as though she was smarter than the pair combined she was still only a woman in her culture. She was still respected of course but people of equal ranking tended to treat her as little more than a decorative doll that could be moved as and when needed. It hurt her to be treated in such a manner now that she understood that there was a world outside her cage, still, she was bound by the shackles of her world, she was still only a visitor of the west. [break][break] She smiled weakly looking down "Like your son you wear your emotions on your sleeve, he has taken this habit from you." she said her voice quiet clearly not wanting to insult her hostess but stating a fact. "It is for this reason he can control you by controlling him and he can control him by using me." she wasn't at all dumb, there were other ways but this would be the easiest way to obtain what he wanted, the issue was that he had no direct control of her and so believed the father would contact her own about her behaviour. She knew she would be punished by her father and then made to apologise with an additional punishment for penance but even knowing this was the inevitable outcome she would still have done everything she had up until this point. [break][break] She was still glad that Junjie knew the right words to bring their hostess peace, for as smart as she was she was still young so there was a lot she didn't know how to navigate easily but she was learning a little more with each passing second. When she mentioned the roses smelling correctly and explained her surprise the elder woman tried to put her mind at ease that was until she explained she didn't mind the oddness of her magic but rather that it was a pleasant surprise that they smelled as they should. Hearing her words she nodded "Although, I do believe your red roses smell better than these white ones. Perhaps I can send Chinese rose seeds." she offered believing the woman would love the array of colours they could bloom with. She listened to the history between father and son and how the father merely saw him as a tool. [break][break] Boy did she know how that felt. She knew such things were told her in confidence and so reassured the other that she wouldn't speak of it only to be met with a thank you allowing for the floral mage to pretend she had no idea what they were talking about. Her hostess caught on quickly and played along that she too had forgotten about what they were talking about. Hearing her hostess giggle at their little joke made it clear she felt isolated and had no one really to speak about such things to. "I assure you if you ever want someone to forget things with you can do it with me." she said softly, she said it in this manner to prevent anyone listening in from making sense of what was going on. She had told the lady of the house she would be her confidant and what was said between them would remain that way. [break][break] It seemed as if the offer of new teas brought happiness to her hostess, and although she didn't know what the older woman was thinking she was correct in her theory that no wouldn't change the younger woman's mind. She cared little for material possessions, her only true indulgence was her tea and she was more than willing to share that experience with others. The floral mage had been concerned about what had happened within the house and although the older woman assured her that Jevi would be perfectly fine without missing a beat she informed her that it wasn't Jevi she was currently worried about but her husband. She knew that Jevi was a kind person but as she had stated even the kindest souls had a breaking point. The last time she reached that point was in the witch's forest. [break][break] The former captain of the squad had threatened to raze the place twice causing the usually reserved and quiet flower mage to raise her voice and not only yell at him but inform him she was challenging for his position. She realized what she had done when he told her that it was time for her captaincy exam and what he planned for it. He had given her a difficult task, to completely change the outcome of a war was difficult many variables had to be taken into consideration. She was glad that Junjie had been kind enough to humour her in the beginning and even nurtured it when it showed she had a gift for such things when no one else would give her the time of day. Due to this she didn't just change the tide of battle but prevented a lot of deaths that had happened on both sides. [break][break] "You will need to support each other Suru as you both have that same flaw." she wasn't trying to be mean but while they wore everything on the outside they would both be easily manipulated and taken advantage of. Eventually, Jevi entered the garden and he looked like an entirely different man. He seemingly was happy that she had taken a liking to the tea and said they would get some for her. "I can give you the name of the merchant who brings it from home, I will ensure you are given a good price for his wares too." she said showing that she wanted to make sure they didn't have to break the bank to get the imports. Junjie at that point knelt and bowed starting to speak to her about he felt how she felt he failed her and how she misstepped. [break][break] She reassured him he had done nothing wrong and it wasn't a misstep she knew what she had done and would take the consequences. She even moved out of her seat and hugged him, he felt her trembling and hugged her in return. It wasn't normal and though he had been with her, her entire life it was clear he was still hesitant to show this kind of affection to her. During all this, she hadn't noticed that Jevi and his mother had their own conversation so as not to interfere with what was going on with their guests. After a few moments, the floral mage stood checking over her clothes and sat down before apologising. The elder woman acted as if she knew nothing of what Hinota was speaking of. She bowed her head in thanks to the elder woman. She was so happy that the pair were being discreet about what had happened. [break][break] It was then she and Jevi spoke about how progression to his end goal could be achieved, even telling him he could skip over vice-captaincy completely saving the current vice-captain a headache when he went for captain. She nodded to his words "This is the most efficient path but Lord Kasai is blessed by Salamander so he will not be easy to take down; perhaps you can talk to Lord Ravencrest for training as he had to fight the man for his position for vice-captain." she said thoughtfully "If I may, I will educate him on fighting." Junjie said his tone calm and respectful. Hinota looked up at him surprised "Are you sure you can manage that with your usual duties?" she asked with concern "If I couldn't princess then I would not have offered but his sword techniques are sloppy." he said his tone mirroring he believed his words. [break][break] The floral eyes went wide at what Junjie had just said "Ju... Junjie apologise." she stuttered "Why? I spoke only the truth. The tutors his father hired for his sword training were third rate and that's me being generous." his tone unchanging "So young lord will you accept me as your tutor?" he would ask looking directly into Jevi's eyes. Junjie had never offered such a thing to anyone and her elder brother Jirou had been trying for years to get him to teach him. She wasn't going to pry into Junjie's reasons but she knew that if Jevi accepted he would be in a world of hurt but his skills would indeed improve on many levels. "As polite as ever but there's no need for it as I have done nothing for the gratitude." she said truly believing her words in this matter. [break][break] The lord of the house eventually did show his face within the garden and was playing nice, she didn't believe his apology and though Junjie remained silent it was clear he believed it was nothing more than a farce to save face. She graciously gave the elder male an out blaming it on his whirlwind of emotions which the elder male seemed to happily accept. Soon after he took his leave, her eyes went to the flowers "I swear your roses lose three days of life when he comes near them with how cold he is." she said as if deep in thought. Soon after Jevi's mother spoke of a rumour she had heard and asked if the pair would look into it. Jevi quickly accepted asking if she would be willing to come to check on it too. "It is part of my job to make civilians feel at peace is it not." she said showing she would indeed be by his side in this mystery just like the last one they had done. She would of course wait until they had finished their tea before taking their leave, she requested Junjie remain at the Suru estate and take care of Jevi's mother until the end of the task. He was hesitant but agreed as he knew he couldn't come along on such tasks.
