Ophiuchus was debating on if she needed to go to church again. It had been some time since she had done so, since she left her home at nineteen that is. She figured she’d need to return again. And what does one do when they go to church? They should dress well. She donned a pink high-low dress that had butterfly wings on the skirt that held a bit of it up from the ground. Though, as she was traveling to Nairn, the redhead heard some news of the town. A tornado ripped through it. She decided that she needed to do something, especially if she wanted to visit again properly for any services, not that she was that religious, just needing a moment of time here and there.
Without bothering to change, the girl put her hair up in a ponytail with the help of a pink ribbon. Her pink ballet inspired flats making light taps on the ground as she plodded through. She made the resolve to help out from the aftermath of the tornado. As she approached the town, her amber brown eyes looked over some of the destruction. Of course she looked out of place with her clean dress compared to the rubble and how some of the people appeared. She ran forward and instantly went to help someone up off the ground after they missed a piece of rubble that they had missed while walking.
“Careful.” She softly says as she steadies the person with her arms. The person was an elderly male, and he smiled at her in thanks for her helping him not fall. “Do you know if there is anywhere where volunteers can help clean up the town from this?”
The older man blinked at her and felt confused at the fact that she wanted to help, but nodded and pointed his finger down the path he had come from. “There’s a table down that way, but I don’t know how much help the people there are actually being. Or if you’ll be of any help…” He glanced down at her outfit before gently removing himself from her grasp and leaving her there.
She calmly looked after the man as he walked away from her, sighing as she nodded her head. Of course not everyone would be comfortable with her and how she was dressed. She guessed it was time to go and inspect this table near the heart of the town though.
[attr="class","raescroll"] As a magic knight, Jevi tried to stay in the know of incidents happening around Clover so he could assist where it was needed. To him, the job of a magic knight encompassed far more than only fighting off monsters for the people and clearing dungeons to ensure they were no danger to the people. Actually being there for the people and lending them a helping hand in their time of need was just as much part of the job as the military part. If it was not a part of his job as a magic knight, it would fall under his responsibilities as a noble to aide the people. In his case, he also held a general weak spot for the commoners and the forsaken region in particular. While he was back at his family’s estate now, for three years he had lived on his own in the forsaken region, going from town to town to find places to stay and food to eat in exchange for services he provided the people. That ranged from helping them fix up things around their towns to fighting off mana beasts and other monsters to protect them. One village in particular he held close to his heart, having stayed there for a year and seeing it as a second home. [break][break] So when news came to him of a tornado having wrecked quite a bit of Nairn, a thriving town in the common region, Jevi did not hesitate for a moment to saddle up his horse Jasmine and make his way over there. It was good to get out of the house every once in a while, as while tension between him and his father had faded for the time being due to Hinota and Junjie’s presence, he was still on edge living there. Junjie had made it clear the walls in his own home had eyes and ears, and while a lot of servants would be loyal to him and his mother there were those who were loyal to his father and would gladly share his weaknesses with the old man if they ever got the chance to. To walk on egg shells in his own home was tiring, and so these outings were actually a way to relax far more than anything else regardless of the work being stressful. Besides, he’d rather be useful to the people than have his nose stuck in books all day trying to learn about Clover’s noble court as well as the Eastern imperial court. Not to mention that he was trying to learn the language of the East on his own just so he could speak to Hinota in her own language. She had gone through the trouble to learn the Cloverian language, so it was only right he returned that favor, even though it was hard. [break][break] It did not take too long for him to arrive at Nairn, and the destruction was clear to see. Not all homes were destroyed, so people could find shelter with one another, but the damage was certainly done. Rubble lined the streets, personal belongings were scattered everywhere and people in general were in a panic. While he was not here as a magic knight, he still wore his Crimson Lion mantle over his otherwise blue and white outfit and his dark leather combat boots that he always wore. On his right hip was his grimoire, securely in its holster, while he kept a wooden training sword on his left hip. While the sword wasn’t necessarily useful for combat, he did keep it on him most of the times as per instructions of Junjie Bai; his Master. He rode Jasmine to a safe place where he noticed some of the other horses were kept and got off. As he tied her down near the buckets of water placed for the horses, Jasmine tried to get herself free by pulling back. Jevi moved his hand to the side of her head and spoke softly. “Shhh girl, I’ll be back. There’s no need to worry, just relax here.” His touch and soothing voice were enough to calm Jasmine back down, as his white mare was simply not happy being left behind ever since Jevi had gone away for three years. He couldn’t blame her, so he just soothed her when it was needed. [break][break] Walking into the city, he noticed a woman dressed in pink who looked like she didn’t live in this town. She wouldn’t look so clean and pristine if she had been in this tornado, though those were merely assumptions. The elderly male with her was clearly confused as to why she’d offer her help, and while he pointed her in the right direction he openly wondered how much help she could be. This did not sit well with Jevi, as he walked over to the two and spoke up in a clear voice. While he was annoyed, his voice was calm as he looked at the man with a stern expression in his ice blue eyes. “Wouldn’t any help be welcome, regardless of who offered? You should be grateful people are willing to lend a hand, and some words of thanks would suit you.” His arms were crossed over his chest as he berated the elderly man for his actions. There was no excuse for being this rude to someone simply offering to help. There were many things the people needed, from rebuilding to medical attention to a warm meal. The woman here certainly would be able to help with some of it. As the man walked away, Jevi turned to Ophi with a soft smile on his face, the sternness from before disappearing like snow in the sun. “My apologies for intruding, my Lady. I’m Jevi Suru, I also came here to help out. How about we go check out that table he mentioned together?”

As a voice came up and started scolding the elderly man, Ophiuchus held her hand up, intending to indicate that his scolding wasn’t necessary. She takes a deep breath as the man had seemed frightened by the sudden outburst before he wandered off to go anywhere but near them. “I do appreciate you trying to come to my aid, but I don’t think that was necessary.” She says as she watches where the man had gone. Her face didn’t have much of an expression to it as she looked back to the man who introduced himself as Jevi. Dipping her head a bit in a bow, she picked up the edges of her skirt. “It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Jevi. I am Ophiuchus Amriu. I wouldn’t mind traveling together.”
She stayed quiet for a bit as they started walking in the direction that the old man gave Ophi a moment ago. She had to pick up the back of her dress a bit just to make sure nothing snagged on it. She kept her face even for the most part, save for her lips going in to a flat line to show any sort of displeasure of the state of the area. She eventually glanced over and observed the mantel that Jevi wore. “You are a Magic Knight, right sir?” She questioned as at the same time she heard chatter ahead of them.
Her amber brown eyes looked up to see where some of the common people were gathered. There were parents with children, couples in general, and the elderly. They were all trying to argue with someone behind a table. Some were trying to calm others down, but that seemed to only enrage the people more.
“Would you lot just shut up for five minutes?!” A males voice shrieked through the crowd. Ophiuchus gripped her hands a bit as she watched the crowd back off a bit, exposing the man who shouted at them. The man wasn’t much taller than her, but was on the heavier side. He looked very much like a noble and like he didn’t want to be there. “I don’t know where your family members are or how you’re going to get back on your feet!” He crossed his arms as he just stood there. He glanced over and barely noticed Ophiuchus and Jevi out between the people. “You there! Come here.” He says and smirks to himself. His eyes were a bit on Ophi though.
The crowd looked back at the two and Ophi let the back of her dress drop before she just gave a small nod and started walking forward. She didn’t really look to see if Jevi was following her at this point or not though. “You know that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, right?” She asks casually as she looks at the rather bare table. It had a few blankets and some water canteens. She pursed her lips and looked back at the man. “Are you in charge?” She asks softly.
The man beamed as she asked him that question. Pushing his brown hair out of his face, he put a hand on his hip. “Why yes, yes I am. I am Silas McGrant, at your service.” He held his hand out to take her hand, but Ophi put her hands behind her back and gingerly bowed forward as she nodded her greeting. He visibly looked upset when Ophi refused to touch him, keeping herself looking professional as she straightened herself.
“Ophiuchus Amriu.” She glanced over to Jevi, allowing him to introduce himself and ask anything he may desire of the man before them.
[attr="class","raescroll"] If there was one thing Jevi could not stand it was a demeaning attitude, and this elderly man had taken one look at the young woman simply attempting to help and already judged that she was no good to assist in anything just due to her looking nice. He was not one to keep his mouth shut on most occasions, even though he was learning to play the politics game more and more, there were some things he was not going to simply let slip. The elderly man wandered off, seemingly a bit surprised by Jevi’s words, but not even an apology was made towards Ophi which just had Jevi sigh. The woman told him it hadn’t been necessary in her opinion, even though she appreciated his attempt to help. “Perhaps not, but to be so judgmental in a time like this does not sit right with me.” He then introduced himself to Ophi, his sternness fading as the woman had done no wrong. Amriu huh? He had heard of that family through the grapevine, however whether those were rumors our truths was something he did not know for certain. “A pleasure to meet you as well, Lady Amriu. Then let’s go to see what we can do.” He gave her a soft smile and walked alongside her towards the aforementioned table. [break][break] As they walked towards this table the elderly man had pointed Ophi towards, he heard the strawberry blonde ask him if he was a magic knight. Jevi nodded, his right hand running gently over the fabric of his Crimson Lion mantle. “Indeed I am. I’m part of the Crimson Lions, though have not been for a long time mind you. I figured some more help was required here, and decided to check the place out. I understand not all commoners are trusting of magic knights, but I’m hoping to change that bit by bit through actions instead of words.” His voice was a bit hushed so only Ophi could hear him, but that was part of the reason he had come here. Ever since the events in Kikka, which he had not been a part of, the trust in the magic knights had wavered. There was only one way to regain that trust in his mind, and that was by actively showing the people that the magic knights were here to help and support all citizens of Clover. That’s why he hadn’t left his mantle at home today, because he wanted people to see a magic knight going above and beyond for their sake and nothing else. [break][break] The more they walked, the more chatter could be heard before they heard the shrill voice of a man calling out towards the crowd that had gathered near his table for his attention. The man was short, and on the heavier side of things. He did not look or sound like a man who had things under control, and by the way he addressed the people that assumption was right. As he noticed Ophi and himself he called them both over, but Jevi could tell by the look in his eyes that he was more interested in Ophi. The woman was indeed beautiful, and he was not surprised to see her gather such attention, but if this man thought he could try anything while Jevi was around he’d be sorely mistaken. Jevi smiled as he heard Ophi tell the man that he’d catch more flies with honey than vinegar, showing that she certainly could handle herself in situations like these. It turned out that this guy really was in charge, and Jevi couldn’t help but wonder who made that mistake. Alas, they would have to deal with this guy for the time being, though Jevi couldn’t suppress the small grin at Ophi denying the man a handshake. [break][break] The man introduced himself as Silas McGrant, and as Ophi introduced herself she looked towards Jevi to give the floor to him. “Jevi Suru, a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lord McGrant.” Jevi put his right hand over his heart and gave the man a slight bow, trying to be respectful and play along. “Would you be so kind to inform us of what exactly is going on? I must be mistaken, but it seemed you were having some issues just now with the crowd forming here. A great man like yourself would certainly not be struggling with leading an operation such as this. I am quite certain you were about to assign roles to people, telling some to go look for survivors and others to ensure there is food and water for the victims, correct?” Jevi’s studies had been paying off, as he was giving Silas the answers he needed without making it seem like it was Jevi himself taking control of the situation. It allowed the man to save face, while moving the operation forward as they should. Certainly a man like this would enjoy having his ego stroked, that much was easy to read, so hopefully his little trick was going to pay off.

When Jevi mentioned that it didn’t sit right with him when the elder was being judgemental, especially now of all times, she nodded her head as she understood that as well. But she also knew judgements can sometimes be hard to give up too. As Jevi mentioned what faction of the knights he was in while they walked, Ophi nodded in agreement to his statement that here required more help. “I guess I can see about helping you adjust the image alongside you.” She mused to him.
After encountering McGrant, and introducing themselves, Ophi waited for him to answer Jevi’s question. He pursed his lips to Jevi but looked at the table and motioned to it. “If you can’t tell what it is I’m doing, I’m giving relief aid to the people here! Doing my part as a grand example of a noble. I was indeed about to assign roles to people, but I honestly have no idea what these people were all upset about here as I’ve been nothing but kind to them till just now when they started a mutiny.” He looked around and back to a couple of his employees. “You two, pass out blankets and water!” He turned to another side of him and pointed to a couple others. “Go two look for survivors together.” That was the extent of the personal staff he had brought with him.
Ophi gingerly tales a canteen and shakes it slightly in her hand after feeling how heavy it was. It wasn’t heavy at all, and barely any water was in it. She takes a deep breath and goes over to the employee who was instructed to get water to the people. “Could you do a favor instead? Please go to Raque for me and request the Amriu Merchants on behalf of the McGrant house that I need relief aid. Quality blankets, canteens, and food to pass out. And it’s needed stat.” She says as she looks at the table. There was still a rumble in the crowd as people weren’t happy still with what was going on. Add in her as another noble, and Jevi as a magic knight.
“Excuse me!” She says aloud to get people's attention, but they weren’t paying her any mind. She glanced over to Jevi and held her hand out to him. “Sir Jevi, could I trouble you for help up on this table? I’d like to help Lord McGrant with getting some order to the crowd.” She smiles ever so sweetly, making sure Silas could see the smile she was giving off too. She then paused and turned to him. “Would it be okay if I did? To save you from having to yell again?” He was blushing from the smile she had presented to him and he nodded instantly to her, letting her do as she pleased there.
“And when you’re done, feel free to come sit down next to me.” He says as he waggles his eyebrows at her. That motion caused her to drop her smile and resume a blank face. She knew she shouldn’t have tried to do anything like smile at him. This was probably going to haunt her the rest of this ordeal while he was here.
