Azure was half dreading today, as she hang around Kikka, the area for the new magic knight exams, having no idea what she was gonna do about the section where she had to privately show off her powers, normally she was really good about handling being stressed out over something or handle the fact that she had no magic currently, but this was different. Azure wanted to make a good impression on the captains because she really did not want to be seen as weak as that would really hurt her attempts to act all high and mighty to other people.
So currently azure was walking around looking like a wreck, well her outfit was normal and still very well kept and she tried to look very professional, her hair actually having more effort put into it styling it a small amount, though it was still about the same as her normal style, but her face kinda gave away the fact she was worried, it did not help that she was talking to herself to keep calm “Its fine, you can just go out there and explain what your magic is about and why you do not have spells because of it, people would BEG to have power like this on their side right? So it is fine not having any spells” she repeated parts of this to herself as she kept up pacing left and right waiting for the dreaded signal for all the people to head on in.
Artemis looked around as she took in the splendor that the Clover Kingdom put on for the Magic Knights Exam. She was stunned by the sheer amount of money that was put into this fanfare. She suppose it was something that was needed. The Clover Kingdom, after all, had just suffered quite a loss. The events that some are calling “The Shattering” had left quite a dent into the ranks of the Magic Knights, and the morale over all. The loss was significant, though in the end, it seems that it had been for something. A calamity that could have happened, was averted. The lives lost were not in vain. Though, the wounds were still there. The Clover Kingdom might not be in their weakest moment, but they definitely were not at their best.
As she continued her way, hoping to meet her Captain, she found herself suddenly invaded by a woman who seemed to be talking to herself in a manner. Artemis knew that there were quite a bit of participants for this Exam, and from what she could garner, this woman was one of those. She could not help but overhear her plight, and was suddenly piqued by the nature of her magic. No spells indeed! Artemis has never encountered a mage with no spells, certainly not one that wanted to join the Magic Knights.
Artemis flared her sensory, taking stock of the woman’s presence. Even more shocking was that she seemed to be fairly strong, at least mana wise. The magic she had must be quite something if she did not have any spells at all. And truly, Artemis was interested.
“Excuse me, I can’t help but overhear you talking about not having spells.” She would tap the shoulder of the woman, the Green Mantis Mantle hung loosely on her shoulder. “I suppose I got curious. What IS your magic, if you don’t mind me asking?” Captain Barron can wait, this was definitely something more interesting that having to accompany her Captain to this Exam.
Azure had kept up on her panic before suddenly she felt someone touch her! The girl yelled out a yelp of shock as she turned to face the woman, before composing herself with a light clearing of her throat trying to slide right by the fact she was startled “Oh hello, did not see you coming. Hi.” Azure seemed to regard the other girl for a moment looking them over some, she of course could see the obvious of them being a magic knight, as well as that they did seem strong so of course this seemed like a good chance to try and make some kind of impression and to also show off a bit.
So after a moment's pause she spoke “Oh my magic? Well it is every magic I can get my hands on. I can cast any spell of any kind and probably do it better than the people who own the spell in the first place” she grinned putting her hands on her haps as if to be standing in a more prided way as she seemed to have either disregarded or not heard them say the part about her not having spells “Though I must ask, why did you want to know in the first place- ohh or was it very much obvious that I was strong when you looked at me! I could definitely see that being the case” humble she was not, though she was trying not to be very rude today as that might ruin the vibe of the event, though she did plan to act high and mighty to the people who she met that she knew were weaker, she was only asking cordial about it to this girl because they both are already a magic knight, thus a higher standing than her and also seem stronger.

Artemis would listen to the young woman’s response. She had almost cracked a smile. Almost. The attitude that this examiner had was quite a turn around from her previous ramblings of not having any spells to showcase. After all, she had looked quite nervous, and was trying to lift her own spirits. It was an interesting transition, though Artemis knew that it was probably bravado talking. However much strong this young woman was, if Artemis was correct, there was another examiner today who outclasses everyone, even herself. She would shake her head, trying to throw away the stray thoughts about her own recruit hopefully appearing today.
“Any magic?” Artemis would stare at the woman for a moment, “I’ve only heard of those kinds of magic a few times in my whole career.” They were mostly from other Magic Knights who has previously known others within the organization to have had it. “Though, is rather think that a person, a mage even, who came up with the spell would know how to use it more effectively, than someone who copied it.” Hours upon hours of work certainly made for a better mastery, even though the young woman’s magic was sort of cheating in a way.
“However, you seem to be in a plight, aren’t you?” Artemis would turn her attention to the fan fare. The event was starting soon, and her Captain had wanted her to watch. Maybe by his side up at the podium, or by the stands, she had not yet been told. Only that she had to be here. “The question is: what are you going to do now?” She half expected to be asked for a spell or two, though Artemis herself was not sure what her answer would be just yet.
Azure would keep her appearance as the other girl started to talk on her power, saying something about hearing about mages who can do that, then about how she figured it would take a lot of time to actual properly use plagiarized spells to which Azure laughed a bit “Well maybe they might know more effectively, but I am sure I could use it to great effect.” she kept a half grin, but took pause as the girl talked about them being in a plight and asking what they would do now.
At first Azure was thinking how best to respond in a non desperate way, going with something like this “Well yeah, It is a bit annoying not having spells to show off right now, but if your offering I am sure that showing off your spells in front of the judges, such as your own captain could be a great effect for me.” she then gestured to the other girls grimoire “If that sounds like a cool plan all you need to do is let me touch your grimoire, just a tap and that is that.” she paused to of course try to sound a bit less forward “That is if you are in fact offering to let me do so.”
This was quite the lucky break for Azure, the girl was very much glad that the girl had come over to ask about spells and sounded like she might be willing to hand some spells over, willing victims of her magic are more than a little great, and perfect timing also. Things could not get much better than someone offering to hand over spells, not needing to be sneaky about it makes things so much easier and less dangerous.
“I suppose so. It’s all about knowing the spell more intimately, after all.” Artemis would nod, conceding that her magic was definitely something that made her unique in a way. No spells, but able to use other’s, from Artemis could deduce. She supposed that without any spells at all, the young woman in front of her would not be able to do anything at all. Maybe show that she had a grimoire, but nothing else. She also deduced that the it was not wasn’t to copy spells. Either she had to see the spells, or maybe it had something to do with her grimoire.
She was then asked, as expected. Artemis would pause for a moment. So she was right. It had something to do with her grimoire. The book itself was secure, and Artemis never let anyone near it unless needed, which has happened never.
“My spells aren’t made to impress anyone.” Artemis shrugged. “Nor is it my intention to use it for display.” Her spells were very subtle in nature, and was meant only for one simple goal: to kill.
She paused. Artemis supposed it was no harm to give her some spells. It wasn’t like the young woman could take her more deadly ones. From what she could sense in terms of power level, the young woman could possibly take Aphrodite, or any spells of that level. Also, she could not help but feel just a little for her, having no spells going into the Magic Knights Exam.
“I suppose so.” Artemis nodded slowly, she unclipped her grimoire and held it in front of her. “Just do you know, the element is water.”
Azure listened to the girl speak a bit about how the spells were not made for impressing of for display azure of course gave a simple response to this “Well of course not, but all spells can be used in such a way if you are smart about it~” she kept a smile glade the other girl seemed to bite and pull out their grimoire.
“Water hm? How fantastic.” as she moved to lightly touch the blue gem on the front of the other girl’s fancy blue grimoire, her finger glowing slightly as she did but then nothing, azure taking a step back with a grin on her face “There, but I think you might need to wait for me to show them off at the demonstrations, That is if I assume correcting in thinking you would be there” in truth Azure wanted to go over the spells a bit, but did not want to let the girl know she needed to do that wanting to make it seem like just a poke was all it took to fully know the spells.
She watched at the gates to the main area where opened turning back to face the girl with a grin “Thank you for your donation to my cause, I do hope to see you in the crowd of spectators, and who knows maybe ill end up as a mantis, I mean green does suit me” she gave an idly gesture to her own hair, starting to turn “And my name is Azure, I almost forgot to introduce myself as such, please to make your acquaintance miss” she paused for a moment looking to her grimoire that was held at her hip before looking back to the other mage “Miss Artemis, until next time!” with that she turned to head off into the crowd entering the arena figuring she would see the other woman in the stands.
