Clink! Clink!
A blue-haired femme sat alone outside a small cafe, slowly swirling her sweet tea and making the ice clink in her glass cup. Her posture was relaxed and laid back, and everything about her aura spoke of her calm attitude. Clear azure eyes observed the hustle and bustle of the people, taking in all the sights and sounds. She had drawn in her aura so she would not be so noticeable - she hated being noticed when she is not ready for it. But here in the port town of Raque, many different types of people came in and out, so she could easily blend in with the crowd.
It was a hobby of hers, observing people. It was fairly amusing, watching different people walk past. Some would saunter along like they had no care in the world, while some hurried past like today was their last day on earth. Some sashayed and pranced around like they were someone important, and some slinked past with furtive glances behind them like they were criminals. It certainly is not impossible to see both the rich and the poor intermingle here, or for the respected and the despised to walk side by side.
Suna absentmindedly took another sip of her tea. Every now and then a certain individual would catch her eye, and she would follow their steps with a critical eye. At the moment, a round-faced woman carrying a huge basket was under her scrutiny. Looks like a maid, possibly from a Noble household, according to her clothes. Though plain, the woman’s clothes were of fine quality, clean and tidy. One who was surrounded by comfortable living. Good for her. Probably one from the kitchens?
Just now, scampering past the palace maid, was a street urchin. Her attention snapped on to him. Although his clothes were dirty and torn in certain places, his face was clean, and his eyes were bright. She watched as he deftly sidestepped the stout woman, and his hands quickly reached in and out. It happened so fast, it was a blur. Suna watched on in amusement as the boy stuffed the snatched tomato under his shirt, and the woman was none the wiser.
However, she did not expect the little boy to look up and meet her gaze. He jolted, but she only smiled at him and put her hands in front of her eyes. She wondered if he got the message that she saw nothing. When she lifted her hand away, he was already gone. This was not the first time she has done this, but it never failed to amuse her whenever she witnessed things like this happening right in front of her eyes. It was amazing, really, how much happens on the streets, if one would only stop and take a second to observe.
Suna sat up straight to stretch her back a little. She would probably go visit the music store later, as per her habits. Once I finish this, she glanced down at her drink. She did not realized that she, too, was being watched.

Saki stared down at the blue haired girl outside of the cafe with a curious eye, appraising all that she was. Namely, as a potential target...before realizing she wasn't supposed to be doing that anymore. She couldn't really help it- it was ingrained to her at this point, just something she did. This whole being a good guy thing was difficult, moreover, it could get kind of boring. Being a rogue, she had total freedom- she could do whatever she wanted, all she had to do was be strong enough to face the consequences. Now? Saki wasn't able to do that. She had to follow the law, make sure to play nice...which was more trouble that it was worth, when she actually bothered to remember.
At least her memories were becoming easier to deal with. It hurt that she vividly remembered people who no longer existed, but she'd put those memories to rest, even if it was difficult. It'd been around a month now, that had she spent looking for them. She'd exhausted everything she knew to look for. If they weren't completely different, they were either dead or just gone.
Saki sighed, falling into a somber state as she stared down the glass of alcohol in her hand. Fuck...she'd managed to make herself depressed again. She still wasn't sure where to go from there. Continue being a knight? Drop out and go rogue? Both were options, even if the going rogue part sounded more and more fun. Knight meant security, less of a chance of being arrested and murked, but less control over her life. Rogue meant total freedom, but a lack of security. It was a hard choice to somebody who didn't want to give up either.
She shot back another swig of the alcohol, ignoring the glare of the cafe owner who likely didn't enjoy the fact that an alcoholic was taking his seating space. Like she gave a shit, though. He could fight her if he liked. Probably wouldn't end well for him though.
Saki's eyes traveled back to the girl, taking in her form once again. She was slight and weak looking, though as Saki watched the girl's eyes darting around, taking everything in, it was clear to her that the girl was perceptive. She looked very clean, probably a noble...but didn't carry themselves the same way as other nobles did. Saki couldn't see any other details about her from where she was sitting. All in all, it looked like she wasn't much of a target- she was weak looking, with the cleanliness noting her as a potential noble, but they could just as well be a commoner who took care of themselves.
The real problem was her perceptiveness, which was always a dangerous thing in a target. It made it difficult to steal things when they had a high chance of seeing you, and while Saki could probably quickly pick her pockets with her speed, there was the possibility that she wasn't fast enough, which wasn't ideal.

Suna eyed her half-filled glass, then drowned the sweet ice in one take. It was not a ladylike thing to do, but it was not like she was trying to impress anyone anyways. Besides, no one was watching her...right?
There was a time when she was not as carefree. Back in the Outer Forest, when she was shunned for her grimoire and her outward appearance. Her witch sisters were terribly jealous and gossiped whenever she walked past. Even now she could recall their hateful eyes and hurtful words. Those who said words do not hurt was obvious deaf. Deaf and dumb. Unfortunately, Suna was neither, although she wished her was. But that was before. She simply stopped meeting with those shallow witches and withdrew to the comfort of practicing her music.
Standing up, she grabbed her glass and made her way back inside the cafe. As she crossed the threshold, she paused for a heartbeat, blinking to get used to the cafe’s brightness. She had been sitting outside for a while, after all. It was then that she caught a pair of eyes looking in her direction. The owner of those eyes was sitting in the owner’s seat...but it was not from the owner of the cafe.
Hmm? For a moment, Suna hesitated. Was it just her imagination, or was she being watched? She was usually good at sensing people’s eyes on her, but she had been so engrossed watching the little theft earlier, she did not notice anything amiss. She groaned inwardly. Ugh, she should not have let her guard down. Quickly averting her gaze, she scanned around to find the cafe owner. He was in the back of the cafe, and he looked pissed. More than a little, actually. He was usually a man of good nature, but at the moment, it did not seem prudent to address him. Leaving her used cup on the counter, she glanced back.
Is it because of her? The other female looked out of it, though. She had a bottle in her hand, and if Suna did not know any better, she would guess that she was trying to drink her sorrows away. But this early in the day? Must be really troubled then... Suna wondered what kind of unfortunate history had befell this individual.
She took in the other’s appearance. Perhaps somewhere around her age? Suna could not exactly tell, but most likely older than her. Definitely a tough one, likely roughened up by a rogue’s lifestyle. Not someone she would want to provoke or anger. Although the elf was confident in her abilities, she was not the type to go pick a fight just for the heck of it.
Suna figured that a direct approach would be best. Those who made the first move always had the advantage, after all. Or maybe she has just been reading too many historical fictions. "You know, they say that most people drink to celebrate. Some drink to forget. Others drink to make something happen." She kept a healthy distance between them, but asked outright, "Which one are you?"

Fuu walked down the the port town of Raque with her Green Mantis cloak over her usual attire, beaming with confidence and a hint of arrogance. Just the other day, the young Wilhelm has done it. After a year of being in this squad, Fuu managed to complete a job for the first time, earning herself two stars. To most, two measly stars were nothing, but to Fuu this was a huge achievement. Prior jobs she went on usually ended in failure because of how rash and cocky she was. Despite needing a senior to keep an eye on her for the previous job, Fuu still places the majority of the credit on her own shoulders. Still, she thought Artemis was pretty cool, especially with those water spells. She couldn't help but to think about what else the blonde is capable of, but at the same time this has pushed the young earth mage to do better, wanting to surpass people like her.
But now wasn't the time for training. It was time to get festive!
As she continued her walk, Fuu bumped into a few people along the way, no even acknowledging their presence...or so they thought. What came off as a rude gesture towards those people were actually the teen's attempt at pick pocketing. When most people who pick pocket do it, they try to go about it in a more stealth fashion, but Fuu's approach was rather different and a tad bit risky. She goes about it hoping that her victims are more focused on her rude actions such as bumping into them combined with her status as an upper nobility and magic knight to discourage them from trying to confront her to notice that their precious valuables are gone until it's too late. Those who are ballsy enough to try and stand up to her are usually in for a thrashing however.
Fuu was able to get herself a decent amount of Yul this way, sneakily stuffing them into her pocket with a smug expression before heading towards the nearby cafe. The girl did not need to steal to begin with because of her status, but at this point she just enjoyed it as much as she does getting into scraps which tend to go hand in hand depending on the situation. She's still a good person at heart....just troubled.
The earth knight unnecessarily kicked the cafe door open, alerting almost all of those inside. "Hope you babies are ready, cus the Rowdy Princess is back in town, and ready to celebrate!!" Fuu claimed with her arms raised in the air, laughing pridefully, causing some of the customers to either look on in confusion while the others who are familiar with her sigh annoyingly.
It was clear the jig was up, eventually. The girl had caught on to her staring, but then again, Saki made no effort to hide it. A couple of moments passed as the other girl scanned her body, though more in a curious way than a targeting way. It wasn't much longer than that did the girl speak, sounding like she was quoting something.
Which one was she, huh? Damn, what a fucking question this early in the morning. Let's see... Well...she wasn't really drinking to forget, not really. She was depressed, but she would have taken to the bottle regardless; she enjoyed drinking. Thinking more on it, she definitely didn't consider herself drinking to celebrate; drinking to make something happen didn't quite fit her either. "Man...I don't know. I'm just fuckin' drinking." Saki groaned with a drawl. "Too damn early for that philosophy bullshit." She grumbled, taking another swig from the bottle. She shot the other girl a look. "How about you? Get your rocks off by peeping on people for fun?" Saki would ask, an eyebrow cocked.
It was then that a loud bang had caught Saki's attention, drawing her eyes from the girl to the cafe door. It was a girl, young and short. She had a Green Mantis robe with her, as well. 'A fellow Mantis, huh? Things might get a little more interesting, then.' Saki thought with a smile as she listened to the girl's shouts. 'Rowdy Princess? So she was a noble? Damn, must have been a riot to have been stuck in the Mantis of all places.' Saki thought to herself. Her first impression of the girl just did more to set that belief in stone. She looked fun. "Yo, 'Rowdy Princess'! What'cha celebrating for?" Saki'd raise her voice, motioned with a shift of her head towards a nearby seat.
This could be some amount of fun, which was just what Saki lived for. These two seemed interesting enough to stick around a little while longer.

Suna hoped she had not come off as offensive, as she did not want to start any riot here. There were plenty of different people coming in and out in this trading town, and it is not always obvious who is on which side. As long as one had money and status, you would be respected. Unfortunately, she had neither, so she could not afford to be hasty and start something unpleasant.
"Man...I don't know. I'm just fuckin' drinking. Too damn early for that philosophy bullshit."
She’s not wrong. The corners of her mouth curled upwards. Upfront and straight to the point. No wasted time on unnecessary pleasantries and small talk. She liked that. "Fair enough." So far, it did not seem like the other girl was going to bite her head off. At least, not yet.
"How about you? Get your rocks off by peeping on people for fun?"
"What? My rocks?" Suna almost laughed outright, but managed to control her face to something more neutral. "What rocks? Do I look like the type?" Her tone was slightly mischievous, even though her face was perfectly somber.
Rule of thumb: never reveal more of yourself than what the enemy reveal. Of course, it was not like they were on a battlefield or anything, but one could never be too cautious. After all, anything goes here, as Suna has learned. Back in the Forest, she lived under a strict code. But here, there was so much freedom, she was quite shocked and taken aback the first time she ventured out to the towns in Clover Kingdom.
"People are meant to be watched. Free entertainment, if you will." She was about to ask the girl the same question, but just at the moment, someone entered the cafe. Nay, not entered, more like barged in.
"Hope you babies are ready, cus the Rowdy Princess is back in town, and ready to celebrate!!"
Quite an entrance indeed. The newcomer was also wearing a Green Mantis robe, so Suna figured her new acquaintance would know this rowdy gal. She definitely did not. Not only did she grow up in the witch community with little contact with outsiders, she was a hermit among her own. Before, she had not bothered to learn about the outside world, but now that she was among the inhabitants, might as well pick up what was going on.
"Yo, 'Rowdy Princess'! What'cha celebrating for?"
Even if they did not know each other, Suna guessed that their being in the same group is enough for friendly conversation. The new Green Mantis looked like a regular, by the way she just walked in boldly like she owned the place. Some people in the cafe looked just as confused as her. Some sighed like they knew her.
A regular, then. Or at least well-known. The blue-haired elf withdrew a little to the side, more than happy that the attention was not on her. It was not often that she was in such a situation. Might as well stick around and watch the scene unfold.

Fuu's wide grin slowly lowered as she scanned the cafe. The people within did not seem as pleased or festive as her which was kind of killing the girl's mood. "Eh, you guys forget how to talk or somethin?" Fuu questioned with an eyebrow raised before her eyes shifted to the owner who sent her a very unwelcoming glare. Of course, Fuu didn't really pick up on it and waved at the owner before turning her attention to the black haired woman who addressed her. The earth mage couldn't help but grin again not because someone acknowledged her, but because she finally had someone refer to her by the nickname she had given herself! 'About time!' she'd think to herself before snickering, making her way to the two ladies. As she was approaching them, Fuu raised an eyebrow at the black haired woman upon noticing her cloak. A fellow mantis, but not someone she's seen before, but that wasn't too surprising since Fuu has only been a member for a year and still barely knows anyone.
"Well if you must know, you're looking at the new owner of two, not one but two gold stars!" Fuu claimed as she stood in front of the two, pointing at herself with her thumb as she held her chin up and chest out with pride. Again, two stars is far from a lot, but it felt like a big accomplishment for her. "Yup, I can certainly fill you and your friend in on the dangerous mission I had to go on to earn these, but I must warn you that this story isn't for the faint of heart." the dwarf added. The job itself wasn't much, but that wasn't going to stop Fuu from making up some bullshit story that will make her come off as some badass. Even the customers who overheard this couldn't help, but roll their eyes. "But first..." Fuu then walked over to the seat Saki had gestured to her and stood upon it in an attempt to be at the same height as the owner, but she was still a wee bit shorter in comparison.
"Gimmie something, uh hard to drink, without rocks!" Fuu demanded in her failed attempt at ordering alcohol. It took the owner a second for him to try and figure out what she was trying to say, but even after figuring it out, he still looked more annoyed than anything. "Girl, we've been through this before. You are too young to drin-" Fuu's eye would then twitch before stomping on the chair once, interrupting the guy. "Come ooonn, hows about I pay you double, no, triple!?" she'd ask as she pulled yul from out of her pockets, some from the job she completed, but the majority of it belonging to people she stole from along with some little trinkets and other interesting looking items. "...No, however you may order anything else." The owner bluntly said, causing Fuu to groan as she sunk back down into the chair with her arms crossed.

The blue-haired elf had quietly withdrawn to the side, observing the duo as well as her surroundings. The newcomer had received most of the attention, and she was grateful for that. She much preferred watching from the sidelines, and did not not wish to attract any unnecessary attention.
An amused smile crept up on her face when the ‘Rowdy Princess’ started bantering with the store owner over ordering alcoholic drinks. She definitely looked underage, but her awkward attempts were adorable. Endearing, even. As for the other knight, she had fallen silent, and Suna was not quite sure what had happened. Was it the alcohol? She could only guess.
The elf never did understand what drew people to those strong drinks. Besides in a situation with peer pressure, there really were no benefits to it. It merely befuddles the mind, confuses the senses—where were the advantages in that? In addition, it tastes utterly horrific. Nay, iced tea was still the way to go. Cool, refreshing, and invigorating. Besides, tea was so much more elegant, and had such a refined level of art that instantly boosts the status of its partaker.
After a few moments, Suna rethought her position. On second thought, maybe it would be better if she stayed out of this altogether. Getting caught in a public scene was something she would rather avoid. At least, that was what it looked like. After paying for her iced tea, she quietly slipped out the door and back outside to the sunshine. It had been an interesting experience, meeting these Magic Knights and seeing a glimpse of their varying personalities.
Little did she know that she would be meeting one of the Green Mantis knights again very soon.

Fuu continued to grumble in her chair. She did not see why she was being denied a drink, especially when she has the money to pay for not just one, but for the whole damn place if she wanted to! It was probably wise that the bartender didn't give the dwarf what she asked for. Even without being drunk, Fuu was already an unpredictable wrecking ball, and fueling her with booze would've made her worse.
After some time went by, Fuu noticed that the other mantis knight had gotten quiet. She also noticed that something was amiss. Looking over at an empty chair, the girl raised an eyebrow. "Huh, weren't there three of us...?" she muttered before giving a shrug as she didn't care that much. WIth nothing eventful going on, Fuu decided to get up and head out, a sigh of relief escaping the bartender's lips as nothing ended up getting broken this time.
Hopefully Fuu would be able to come across Saki again since they are in the same squad. She didn't think much of that blue chick, but the earth mage strongly believed that she'd never see that lady again, and so with that, Fuu was off to cause mayhem elsewhere!
