The Common Region, a place with several large towns where trading was common. A good part of the Kingdom's population lives there. Even though ever since Charles joined the Black Bulls he moved to the Forsaken Region where the Black Bulls Headquarters where located. It was common for him to take trips to the Common Region as there were always a lot of things to do but in this case, the Black Bull found himself in one of the forests inside the Common Region, which on its own was really strange, after all, Charles was the type of person who will be at the base at all times unless he was in a mission or he was bored. [break][break] The circumstances of the occasion have changed, the reason why Charles was in a place like a forest was for the sake of finding peace of mind and clear his thoughts. Ever since the day Kikka was attacked, the outcome of the battle was a life-changing experience for the young magic knight. The darkness he spent a lot of time off and some of the things that occurred inside that town is something he has not managed to forget even though some time has passed ever since that happened. He was suggested to interact with nature and the forest was the perfect place for that. [break][break] Charles found himself laying down on the grass trying to take a nap. The Black Bull hasn't been able to get any proper sleep for the last few days. So perhaps the change of ambiance will allow him to finally get some sleep. All he just hoped was that nothing unexpected would happen. [break]
"What’s wrong with them?" The young woman frowned, brandishing Cadenza out at the two attackers in front of her. Her pure aura sword swung out, nicking one of the mana beasts on the ear. Though she had been training with her mentor, she was still not entirely adept at handling her rapier yet. She was still at the early stages of wielding a sword, but at least she has grown more comfortable holding it.
But seriously, what was up with these mana beasts? She is just a normal forest-loving elf, but somehow, these creatures all have a natural attraction to her—a natural attraction to attack her. Or tease her. She had just been minding her own business, taking a nice and quiet walk in the forest, until this pair of mana beasts decided to intrude on her leisure time and disrupt the peace. Such odd behavior, that these creatures came out of nowhere and decided to attack her. Could they somehow be connected to an attack that had happened before, something more sinister?
"Leave me alone, I don’t want to hurt you!" Even when Suna switched her words to her witch tongue, the creatures obviously did not understand either language. The one she had nicked had jumped back for a second, but then leapt towards her again, now enraged at the small wound. She brought her sword up to block the gaping mouth, then swung around to deal with the other one who had tried to creep up behind her.
As of late, Suna had found herself dealing with enemies in melee battles. It was ironic, as she usually saw herself as a ranged support and most of her spells reflected that. However, her Cadenza spell is the only melee weapon she has in her arsenal. Her other sound spells required time to cast, and when these beasts started their attacks, she had no time to summon her harp. Her rudimentary swordwork would have to do.
Schick! Her blade had cut cleanly through the mana beast’s side, and it howled in pain. If she did not have to kill them, she would not. However, she was defending herself, so she should not feel bad. "Just stop already!" She pleaded. Still, she held out her sword in front of her, ready to use it to protect herself. Those eyes...they looked strange. She blinked once. Twice. No, it was not her imagination. Something felt off. Come to think of it, their mana signature felt strange, almost like they were tainted or unnatural. What was going on?
She swung Cadenza out again, catching the other by its front legs and inflicting a deep gash. Painful, but not enough to kill them. Perhaps it was because she did not know yet how to use her sword properly. Perhaps it was because she was unwilling to actually kill them. Likely, it was a combination of both. "Just. Go. Already!" At each word, she struck out and advanced towards them. Before, she had been on the defense. Since that did not work, she would have to go on the offense.
That seemed to work better. As the one on her right jumped towards her, she slashed out and sliced it on the neck. She winced as her sword went through the throat and out on the other side. A terribly ugly sight, but it was either her or the creature. The other mana beast, seeing its comrade down, turned around and started to run away. Usually, Suna would just let it go, but something told her to follow it.
After casting one last look at the disappearing mana life, the blue-haired woman burst into a run, following the other mana beast. Thankfully, with the damage she had inflicted earlier, it was not too fast, but just fast enough so that she was not gaining any ground. Then, she sensed something. A familiar mana signature. It brought to mind silver magic. Black Bulls. Dark hair… Then her eyes caught sight of the sleeping form. Or whom she assumed was sleeping.
Charles?
And the beast was running straight at him...

Once again Charles was unable to properly sleep, as he was awakened by some of the memories of what happened at Kikka. Opening his eyes as if he was suddenly disturbed. The next thing the Black Bull would hear is the sound of an incoming mana beast. The silver managed to react quickly enough to dodge the incoming charge from the mana beast. "Shit..." Charles unsheathed his sword, trying to finish it off. The mana beast charged towards him yet again. This time the magic knight wanted to finish off the mana beast, as the beast charged towards him. There was a moment of hesitation on him and failed to finish off the mana beasts, instead, he attempted to dodge which partly successful, but the mana beast managed to hit his arm. Charles came into a sudden realization, it was no illusion, nor a dream. As the mana beast was going for yet another attack Charles slashed his sword towards the beast, releasing a blue arc of aura towards it. The mana beast was cut in half as it was about to go for another attack towards him. [break][break] Charles placed the sword on the ground and kneeled. His arm was hit and he was sweating. Normally Charles will not hesitate to attack a mana beast, but this time something was different. For a moment he thought he found himself in Kikka and that the mana beast attacking him was simply an illusion of a child. He looked at the body of the mana beast to double-check and it was effectively what he thought, a mana beast. The Black Bull sighed of relief, but if he wasn't careful that could've very well cost him his life. He started to think that coming out here was a bad idea. "I think I shouldn't have come here in the first place...I somehow managed to make it out of that place alive and I almost got killed by some stupid mana beast. He somewhat lamented the fact that despite making it out of Kikka, fighting against Daemons that were above him, just to almost get killed by a mana beast really said something about his current state. [break][break] The silver mage sheathed his sword and sat down taking a look around the place. He just hoped that they were no mana beasts nearby, he also had to get someone to heal his injury, even that could've been avoided if he stayed at home in the first place, but it was too late to consider that before he got someone to treat his injury. Was there anyone with healing abilities that he knew nearby? Charles remembered there was a small town near the forest, perhaps he could get something to eat and get healed. The Black Bull inadvertently made his way towards Suna. Completely unaware of her presence, though it's likely she was already heading his way. Surely seeing a familiar and friendly face will at least make him smile even for the slightest, especially after what he's been through. [break]

The sword itself seems to almost become an extension of its wielder which is clear the moment it is held and the calming pale blue aura can be seen emanating from it. The user need only use the sword as it was intended to activate this ability. When slashing or stabbing it will release a small arc of pale blue mana of two meters wide towards its designated target, with the use of ammo rules several more of these pale blue attack arcs can be created per round.
She was too far away, and the mana beast was going to trample right over the sleeping knight. The blue-haired elf was about to call out his name, but then she caught sight of the body moving. Then a sword came into view, and its element called out to her. Strange. She remembered that the Black Bull was a silver and lightning mage—what was this familiar feeling from his sword?
Upon running closer, she saw that he had effectively disposed of the mana beast. It was now on the floor, but so was the knight? Well, he was kneeling, but why? "Charles!" She skidded to a stop, panting and her hair flying everywhere in a hot mess. "Sorry about the mana beast! I was fighting two of them earlier, and this one ran away from me. Are you okay?" Immediately her eyes scanned the young man from head to toe, and stopped when she saw the wound on his arm.
"Here, sit down, and don’t move." She instructed, kneeling down on the ground and patting the area next to her. "This will take only a little bit of time..." If he allowed it, she would place her hands gently on both sides of his arm, besides the area where he got hit. Then, assuming he allowed the contact, the necklace around her neck began to glow. Light blue puffs of aura would begin to form around the hurt area, and would begin to heal and cleanse the wound of any negative effects.
"So sorry about that," she murmured, referring to the mana beast. "Don’t know why they started to attack me, but they did." A pause. "It seems like everything we meet, it’s always because of some mana beast. Strange, isn't it?" She shook her head, but an amused smile played about her lips. It was such a coincidence—or was it? It almost seemed like there was some invisible force controlling their fate, always having them meeting over a fight with mana beasts...
"Are you hurt in any other places?" Clear azure eyes darted around the knight, trying to see if there were any other wounds she did not notice before. So far, she did not see any, so she relaxed a little. But she could sense that something was different. Something was off. He also looked a bit different, but she could not put her finger on what it was exactly. However, she did not mention it to the knight. Not yet.
"By the way, what are you doing here in these parts?" The Common Region was quite far from the Black Bulls base. She doubted he came all the way here just to take a nap. She reprimanded herself for such a foolish thought. There was no way a Magic Knight would come here just for some leisurely shut-eye. Right? She had so many questions, and there was also the sword she wanted to ask about, but she held her tongue. No need to overwhelm the poor guy with a barrage of questions.

Charles made his way towards the direction of where he expected the small town to be. Suddenly he heard a familiar voice, she appeared to be in a hurry judging by her panting. The silver mage turned around the familiar voice just to realize it was Suna. His assumptions were right as her hair was all over the place as she ran towards him. "It's fine... If I didn't hesitate at first this wouldn't have happened. I'm fine, aside from my arm." He held his injured arm with his other hand, even though it wasn't anything lethal, it still hurt. [break][break] The Black Bull sat down where Suna told him to, allowing her to check his arm. Thinking of the possibility that she learned healing magic or maybe knew how to treat the injury. The elf placed her hands on the place where he was injured and began to heal him. The sensation was a calming and relaxing one, Charles briefly closed his eyes to the feeling of his injury. Healing magic was surely something great and the fact that he was able to find a familiar person that could help heal his injury made things better and easier for him. "Thanks." [break][break] "Yeah... I guess I should've seen it coming. Hah, it's kind of strange, but I wouldn't say its a bad thing, thanks to you at least I managed to get healed without trying to find for a village. The magic knight agreed, their encounters always had to involved a sort of mana beast fighting, which he found kind of funny, but nonetheless thanks to her Charles didn't have to look for a town nearby to try and get healed. She saved the Black Bull a major pain in the ass. "No only my arm was injured. Suna seemed to be concerned about his well-being, though, for the most part, Charles was doing well, physically at least. The blue-haired elf then asked him the reason why he was in this place, which was to be expected. Someone like him didn't really go outside unless needed or wanted to and the last places he would go will be a place like a Forest within the Common Region. "Well... I came to clear my mind from things that have occurred recently." The look on his eyes suddenly went down, there was a lot he was keeping inside him. A lot of things have happened that have taken a toll on the Black Bull and he was told this was a place where he could enjoy peace, though he certainly looked like he didn't have any proper sleep in a while. "What about you? Do you live somewhere nearby this forest? The young magic knight asked and now that he thought about it he actually had no clue where she lived, for all he could know she maybe live in the middle of a forest, the place where she lived was something of a mystery to him. Suna did seem like someone who lived in a small town in the wilderness away from any of the major towns of the Clover Kingdom. You could say it was different compared to his life as a Magic Knight, though being in the Black Bulls wasn't exactly most luxurious place like being in any of other squads like the Silver Eagles and Golden Dawn who lived in particularly more high-classed areas inside the Kingdom, though he didn't really care, the base was quite comfortable, but it was likely someone from Noble status would complain. [break]
Suna was glad when she saw the Black Bulls knight, though her smile did dim a little when she caught sight of his injury. But thankfully, it did not look too serious, and healing was up her alley, so she was willing to help with that. "You hesitated?" She echoed. There was a note of doubt and curiosity in her tone. Did she hear that right? Before, whenever they were fighting against mana beasts, the silver mage was never one to hesitate. That was why it seemed like out of the ordinary for him to hesitate—what had happened?
He had said only his arm was injured, but she still ran the full body scan anyways. "Mhmm, of course..." She murmured at his thanks, eyes down on his arm and carefully checking on the healing progress. So far, so good. However, her eyebrows flew up when he mentioned that he came here to clear his mind. "All the way out here? Must have been something drastic." She commented lightly.
The knight was not the only one who had gone through some major shift of life direction. So much had happened the past few months, but at the end of it all, it had convinced her that she needed to leave the Forest. It had not been an easy or smooth process, but thanks to some of her new friends and allies who encouraged her, she took the step to leave her past behind and move on with a fresh new start. Unbeknownst to him, Charles was one of those said allies.
"Yes, I live nearby, not too far from here." Her new beginning meant a new home, and she found one in a little town in the Common Region. It was not one of the major towns of the area, but she preferred the obscurity. The small and unassuming community fit her just right, and its ambiguity would help her hide from any potential troubles from the Forest. It was unlikely that any of the witches would come after the fugitive, but she has made every precaution, just in case. Her house was on the outskirts of that small town, bordering on the edge of the same forest that they were in right now.
But now, she was curious about the sword he had used just a few minutes prior. With her head, she tilted her head towards its direction. "That sword is new, isn’t it? I was too far away to see it clearly, but it looked really pretty—erm, I mean, deadly." She corrected herself hastily. For some, having their weapons dubbed ‘pretty’ might be an insult, hence her added comment. But to the elf, she rather liked beautiful things, and could appreciate an exquisitely crafted weapon. There was another thing. That spell he used just now from the sword, she could feel her pure aura radiating with it. Its mana was different, but there was a sense of familiarity when she felt its effects.
Whether he chose to show it to her or not was up to him. If he did, she would study it carefully. If not, she would check over his injury again. The light blue puffs of aura looked like cotton candy, or little clouds around his arm. It would not only heal the physical damages, but also his mana skin, if he had taken any hits to that. In addition, it could also cleanse his wound of any possible hexes, curses, poisons, or venoms that may have come from the mana beast.
"If you’re tired, you can close your eyes for a few minutes." Something akin to a playful smile appeared on her face. "I’ll do my best to keep any more mana beasts from attacking you while you sleep, although I’m still learning how to use the sword." She gave a little shrug. On the said weapon, she was a beginner with only the most basic and rudimentary skills at the moment.
The elf had just recently started training on it, but had figured it would be a good idea for her to learn something new to add to her arsenal. So far, she had been fairly lucky with her comrades in battle, with her supporting them from the back while they fought in the frontlines. But she knew it would not always be the case. If there was ever a situation when she is caught, not being able to use her musical instruments, she would want something she can use in melee fights. Like today.

"Yeah..." Charles replied to Suna, though it was obvious she was going to suspect that something was wrong. In their two previous encounters, they fought mana beasts, and out of all encounters, this was the first time the Black Bull hesitated to attack a mana beast. One could say that it was because he woke up, but even so, he was so hesitant he managed to get injured by a mana beast. The silver mage believed he was stuck in an illusion until the mana beast attacked him and felt the pain he realized it was real. No amount of healing magic would be able to heal his mental damage. [break][break] "Well, yeah. Do you know about it? Kikka, the Capital, and Raque were under attack by Daemons not too long ago. Charles said to the blue-haired elf. It was possible that she didn't know about that yet, the attacks were recent and Suna lived in a more minor town so the information wasn't fully spread throughout the Kingdom. Such information wasn't a secret either, civilians knew about it keeping such information a secret would've been impossible, it was going to about time for people to find out. Even if she didn't know about it, it was better if she knew about it. Those attacks were the official declaration of war towards the Clover Kingdom and things were about to get started. Who will make the next move? [break][break] "Makes sense." The silver mage nodded, it made sense that she lived nearby after all it was a big coincidence that he found her nearby one of the forest on the Common Region. A small town, it seemed like the type of place Suna would live far away from the many major towns. Then again the possibility of a small town like the one she lived was unlikely so the elf was in a safe place, Charles didn't have to worry a lot about it. Even though the young magic knight was unaware as to why she lived in a small town and her relationship to the witches. He just thought she preferred to live in a small town where things are much quiet. She then mentioned his sword, which was something he found during Kikka. As far he knew the sword once belonged to a noble family that longer exists so it was left there abandoned. It made sense, the sword itself was quite elegant and possessed magical abilities similar to Suna's magic which is one of the reasons why she felt something familiar when he used it. "Oh my sword? Yeah, I got it not too long ago. It used to be from an old noble family, but it was abandoned. I think its too elegant for my style, but I can't deny its usefulness." [break][break] "Thanks, Suna. I appreciate it, but I don't think I'll be able to sleep again at the moment, even though I really wish I could." Charles tried to smile back at her, but his face was filled with disappointment instead. It was the truth, he tried before he probably wasn't going to get any proper sleep anytime soon even if he wanted to. The memories of what occurred at Kikka made it hard for him to get some proper sleep. "You're learning how to use the sword? That's nice, I know some swordsmanship, but just the basics. Is there any reason why? I never thought you would be interested in something like that." The Black Bull raised an eyebrow, curious. He wasn't expecting for Suna to have such an interest in swordsmanship, but it wasn't a bad thing. In a similar way to Suna, Charles starting to use sword as a way to fight without causing too much damage to his surroundings or in tight spaces where he can't really use his spells. After Kikka the young magic knight had to learn to adapt to multiple battle situations, urban or rural. A lot of things can happen, especially if civilian lives were at stake. [break]
"Daemons?" Her mouth dropped open in shock. Very ladylike of her. "Daemons? Like Asmodeus, the one from before? That’s terrible!" To think there were more of them...well, she had still been in the Witches’ Forest when it happened, but due to its strict system and her own hermit life, she only knew of the most basic of details. "Yes, I heard something about the daemon attacks in the Capital, but I didn’t know Kikka and Raque were also targeted."
The blue-haired mage now pursed her lips. "What were they after? The Wizard King? Didn’t that arch-daemon already do enough damage to the kingdom already?" Her eyebrows furrowed. "What do they have to gain from this world? Don’t they have enough things to play with?" There was a hint of frustration in her tone. Whether it was because of her naiveness or ignorance, the elf could not imagine why there would be such dark-minded beings out there trying to destroy other worlds.
"Then what happened?" She prodded gently. Suna was still not aware of what the Magic Knight had gone through—she only knew that it was important to him, or that he was somehow related to him. That would be the most reasonable conclusion, to explain the difference in him. There was nothing obvious that she could pick up immediately, but there was something different in the silver mage.
The blue-haired female only nodded when he replied to her explanation about her home. There was a reason why she did not elaborate or explain too much. The fewer people knew about her past, the safer they would be. The less connection with her, the smaller the chances of them receiving any potential repercussions or backlashes. At the sight of those tired eyes, there really was no need for her to burden Charles with any more stress or secrets than he probably already had.
"It looked good in your hands. And elegant? I think it’s beautiful. Beautifully deadly." She had also been doing her share of killing—in dungeons. Though she had a gentle soul by nature, there were times when necessity called for more drastic measures. There was also a vice captain who was to blame...or thank, depending on how one saw it. Apparently, the mentioned person thought it beneficial to train and toughen the elf up by subjecting her to broken bones, an undercover mission, fighting through a haunted mansion, and now sword schooling. The difference was that the latter was per her requests, otherwise it would be out of character for Suna to pick up such a weapon when her fighting style was obviously ranged support. But whether that was all a good idea or not has remained to be seen.
"I just started learning how to use the sword. I’m terrible at it, though." As for the why of picking up the sword… To her horror and embarrassment, Suna felt her cheeks getting hot. "Erm...I...well..." Her original motivation for learning the sword was somewhat linked to a certain mercenary, but regardless, her picking up a new skill would come in handy no matter what situation she found herself in.
"Well...sometimes I don’t have enough time to summon my harp, or don’t have enough space, so that’s why I thought learning something for melee fights would be helpful." Not her original intent, but it had become a main goal, nonetheless. "And I think your wound is all healed up now!" Suna lifted her hands from the knight’s arm, and the light blue puffs of aura dissipated. The necklace around her neck also stopped glowing. "Try moving and flexing your arm. Does it still hurt?"

"Yeah, those Daemons." Charles responded to Suna's question. It was those very Daemons Charles was referring to. "Oh, so you know some of it. Yeah, they attacked those three places, they coordinated the attacks. The Capital was destroyed, but it seems to be fine, I'm not sure about Raque, but Kikka fell into the hands of the Daemons." His face filled with frustration, the silver mage looked down trying to hide his frustration from the elf's eyes, but this reaction was something very unexpected from his part. It also made it clear that the Black Bull had some sort of involvement in those events as a Magic Knight his duty was to protect the Kingdom from any threats. [break][break] "Not sure... I believe that they wanted to attack key positions to the Kingdom in order to gain more territory. They also did more minor attacks on the outskirts of the Kingdom. It's possible they wanted to gain more territory, capture the Capital, and kill the Wizard King. Kill the strongest mage and leader of the Magic Knights in the Kingdom and chaos will unfold. The silver mage let out a sigh of frustration. Suna had a point their objective could've very well been to take down the Capital and kill the Wizard King, using the attacks on Raque and Kikka as a distraction once the Magic Knights find out to divide their forces. Not only that by taking down the main leadership figures of the Kingdom will create chaos and make the things for the Daemons much easier. Even though some of the threats were neutralized, they weren't just going to stop with this. This wasn't just some mere attacks, they were a declaration of war. Now only time will tell which side will make its next move. [break][break] "The Capital was attacked by a Daemon who took over the former Wizard King's body and created chaos, though he was defeated. I'm not sure about the details. Kikka was attacked by the Archdaemon Sven, a true tricker with a twisted sense of honor... We fought as hard as could... But, at the end of the day, Vice-Captain Artemis ended up losing against him. We had no option, but to retreat." It was obvious at this point that the young magic knight not only had involvement in this but said involvement was major and ultimately failed on doing his job. The toughest battle of his life, he went through hell and somehow made it out alive. "Frankly... I'm not even sure how I made it out alive..." The events that transpired at Kikka were quite extensive, even though Charles will be willing to talk about it, he wasn't sure if he had to, then again the two of them were still out in the open. [break][break] "Well, that's a good way to put it." Indeed, the sword was deadly and beautiful, too beautiful for a commoner like him to wield one. If a noble managed to catch him with such a sword they will probably have envy over its look, value, and abilities it possessed. The events at Kikka had forced Charles to adapt to different types of situations, one of them being close-quarters combat, despite the Black Bull not considering himself the type of to wield a sword, much less an elegant one like the one he has. "Oh?" The silver mage raised an eyebrow, Suna's way of talking was different from her usual self, it easy for him notice such a reaction as this wasn't usual, at least from her, a love interest perhaps. "Hmmm, someone you met?" He asked, though he could be wrong, with her previous reaction it will be hard for him to convince otherwise. "Yeah, makes sense. The same thing goes for my magic. Relying too much on magic can become a weakness if you aren't careful. He said, there could be cases where he may find himself unable to use his grimoire, or it's too risky to use it. So having other options is always nice, versatility too. [break][break] As soon as she stopped using her spell and asked him to move his arm Charles nodded and started to move it as she instructed. "It's way better now, it doesn't hurt at all, thanks. Never knew you knew healing magic until now." [break]
Delicate eyebrows scrunched up on the elf’s face. "Daemons..." she murmured, still in disbelief. "I’m glad that the capital is all right. Was the king and wizard king safe?" The whole kingdom relied on those two powerful men, not only in representation, but also in safety. However, her demeanor grew even more grave when she heard that one of the towns fell to the dark powers.
"Oh no, Kikka fell?" She remembered the first time she was there...it was to find a certain type of broom, and that old man had kindly only requested a few magical wood pieces as payment. There was also another thing she was more worried about. Her mercenary had said he was going to be out for a few days, but she did not know where or for what. Was this somehow connected? After this, she would be sure to try contacting him, to see if he was all right.
But right now, Charles did not look all right. His reactions and facial expressions were out of the ordinary for him. Sure, she had only met him a handful of times, but she had a pretty general idea of what the silver mage was like, and this was new. She nodded as he gave his explanations for those attacks. It made sense that the daemons might have attacked the two towns in order to divert attention away from their main objective. But it seemed like their takeover of Kikka had been successful, and she would not be surprised if the daemons established their hold and strengthened themselves there.
Then the Black Bull was saying how they had tried to fight against those daemonic powers, but failed. Ah, so he had played a part of it. The poor boy. What kind of horrors has he witnessed and experienced? She was sure that whatever he had seen and gone through had changed him, and her heart went out to him. She would have wanted to hug him and tell him everything was all right. But on second thought, the former would probably bring more embarrassment and awkwardness than comfort, so she opted for something that was not as extreme.
"Hey," she gently laid a hand on his arm, if he would allow it, "it’s not your fault. You did your best." She gave him a soft smile. "Retreat is not necessarily bad, you know. It’s a chance to regroup and come back even stronger. And I’m glad that you came out alive. If I had known about this, I would have probably gone to Kikka. I trust that the civilians are fine?"
Ah, he had caught on to her sudden flush, and his question reflected that. "Erm...yes, someone I met." That much she could admit truthfully and without blushing. As for her healing magic, the sound mage gave a little shrug. "Well, I’ve been working on that. The last time we met, I had just started to develop some of my healing spells, but I was glad that there was no need for them back then." Back then, she was not as adept at it as she was now. The elf preferred to keep things quiet about her abilities; she was not the type to advertise her skills unless the situation called for it.
After patting his arm kindly, Suna got up to her feet. "Thank you for sharing with me about everything. It must not have been easy for you. But let’s work out some of that stress now, shall we?" She nodded at his sword. "I’m just a beginner, but I know enough to kill some mana beasts." For a moment, her smile flickered to something lighter, something more playful. It would do the silver mage good to work off the burdens he has been carrying around.
Pure aura swirled around her right hand, forming into Cadenza, her rapier-like sword. It was thin and lightweight, perfect for her. She whirled it around in the air once before dropping it down to a defensive position. Her blue eyes twinkled in anticipation. "Ready whenever you are."

"The Wizard King is fine, pretty sure the King is fine too. The Wizard King is the strongest mage in the entire Kingdom, I doubt he is going to go down that easy." Charles reassured her, the Capital was alright. After all, the Black Bull had to report to them directly after what happened, considering the magnitude of the situation it was wise to do that before heading back to Sosshi to report to the Captain of the Black Bulls, Malcolm. Once again that was another reason why the Royal Capital was such a big target. The head of the Kingdom's military, the Magic Knights, and the head of government were there. Added up with the rest of the government, destroy the Capital and that's a good way to not only get rid of the central figures but to demoralize the entire Kingdom and Magic Knights. [break][break] "Kikka fell under the hands of the Daemons, yes..." The silver mage looked down once again as the name Kikka was mentioned. They failed, even though they tried their best. What was to point of getting out of that place knowing that everyone else in that town was left in darkness? There was a sense of guilt that Charles felt, even though he was aware it wasn't his fault. He felt like he could've done more, or maybe it was a sense of powerlessness that he never felt before. He was always under the impression that it didn't really matter if he tried after all the Captains and other powerful mages were able to handle them, but on his laziness, he never considered what will happen if they were to fall in combat just like what happened with Vice-Captain Artemis. This was an eye-opening experience for him, perhaps he will have to stop being less lazy if he doesn't want to feel this powerless next time. [break][break] Charles slowly raised his face to meet Suna's as she gently placed her hand on his arm, there was no restraint from his part. "I know... Thanks, Suna... A tear dropped, but the Black Bull was quick to clean it with his hand. He already had this conversation with his Vice-Captain and Captain and came to a realization. Of course, he wasn't simply going to get over it quickly, but he was working on it and appreciated Suna's support. "Yeah, everyone else is fine. As long as she is there, I don't think the Daemons are going to try anything for the time being." He nodded, the young magic knight was sure they weren't going to try anything for the time being, after all, they allowed them to go, and as long as that girl was still around there they were safe. [break][break] "Hah, that's interesting. Never knew you had someone in your mind, but well I guess its common with adults." Charles found her reaction amusing as this wasn't something Suna usually displayed, nonetheless at least she had someone who could she rely on. The silver mage wasn't really into relationships, so he didn't bother thinking too much about it or get involved in one unlike the blue-haired elf in front of him. "I see... Certainly, healing is useful. I also think it suits your style." He commented, healing mages were useful as they played an important role in battles, which reminded it would've been nice to have her earlier on if she was in Kikka. [break][break] "Sure, it's not like there's much to do at the moment either way, though I will prefer to sleep... This is a good chance to put both of our skills to test. Anyway, the only way to improve is through practice." He covered his mouth as he yawned, the silver mage raised an eyebrow as Suna created a sword out of pure aura. The sword itself seemed to be lightweight due to the fact that it was made out of pure aura compared to his sword that was made out of silver, so she may have the advantage in terms of movement. This was something Charles would have to take into consideration. The Black Bull unsheathed his silver sword and got in a defensive stance. Preparing himself for his first sword-fighting battle. [break]
Suna breathed out a little in relief at the knight’s reassurances. She had grown rather fond of the kingdom, though she was still in the process of transferring allegiances. She was no Magic Knight, but she did feel a degree of loyalty and kinship with its citizens. Of course, meeting all those powerful mages and overall good people had certainly strengthened the connection. It was also a plus that she now had access to all those books to read and learn from, compared to the limited resources back where she grew up.
She was a little startled when she saw the tear in the silver mage’s eyes, but briefly turned her head away and did not comment about it. "I can’t imagine what you must have gone through," she said softly. "But I’m sure it’s not your fault that Kikka fell to the daemons. They must have been really strong, and I’m guessing they had the upper hand." She would guess that he felt kind of guilty for leaving behind the town in destruction and failure...though it was not really a failure, if she knew the whole story.
"Who’s 'she,' by the way?" It sounded like the person Charles was referring to was important and extremely powerful, since he mentioned that the daemons would not do anything as long as 'she' was there. She had previously met up with a certain Green Mantis dwarf and heard of some things, but did not know all the intricacies of the event. Even if she had been there, she doubted she could have done anything. Even her healing would not have been enough, she figured. But perhaps it would be for the better, as this gentle soul might have come out completely and utterly ruined.
The young woman did, however, flush again when Charles mentioned about having a certain person in her mind. "Adults? Hey, hey, I’m not that old!" She feigned being offended, although her eyes sparkled in amusement. "And don’t worry, you’re almost there. Who knows? Maybe you’ll meet your 'someone' soon." She smiled at him teasingly. If she was to introduce him to anyone, she would have to know more people first. Pity that most of the knights she knows are much older than him...unless he would prefer a nice citizen girl? She really should not be meddling in other people’s lives, however.
But now, some physical activity might be just the answer to distract them from their thoughts. Suna had dropped down to a defensive position, and seeing how Charles did the same, she decided to go on the offense. She stepped forward, slashing in a sideways arc at her opponent as she did so. If he stepped back to defend, she would follow up with a jab near his left shoulder. If he decided to clash with her, she would jump back and drop back to defense. The pure aura mage was merely probing—she wanted to see what kind of swordplay pattern the young man may have, if any.

"The Daemons were better prepared... More powerful. Our vision was reduced by half, it was hard to see our surroundings. Most of us didn't have any remarkable sensory abilities aside from Vice-Captain Artemis. So we were pretty much left in the dark most of the time. We were no match for Sven. Not even his two servants, they weren't as powerful as her, but fighting them in a one on one or even a two on one would've been suicide." Charles pointed out how heavily outmatched they were, there was a slight chance for them to win, but those chances were gone the moment was defeated, even if they somehow managed to destroy the other wells they would've been no match for Sven. Their only choice at the moment was to retreat. "Hah... I never thought I'd say this, but I guess I will need to train in order to not have my ass kicked so miserably against those Daemons. Honestly, it annoys me, but there's nothing I can do about that." There was a need for improvement and even if the silver mage was too lazy, he knew what had to be done. They were practically useless and because of their lack of power they weren't able to do anything without depending on the Green Mantis Vice-Captain. "Hell... That's the best way to define that place." [break][break] "A girl we met, she apparently knew about the Daemon's plans. So I think as long as they're around they wouldn't do much... Those Daemons have a strange sense of pride, so I don't think they will just kill everyone without getting a proper fight." The girl who the group met seemed to be connected to the Daemons, somehow. Alongside the strange sense of honor, those Daemons had. That's how Charles and the rest of the group managed to make it out alive. Suna was lucky for not being there, physically? Everyone came out of Kikka alright. Mentally? Not so much, it was likely Charles wasn't the only one who got traumatized after the events that took place. The Black Bull would probably be broken at this very moment if it wasn't for the assistance and support from his Captain, Vice-Captain, and even Suna. [break][break] Whoever Suna had in mind, that guy surely seemed special her reaction gave it out. "Alright, alright! Yeah, you don't look old. That's only the correct term to say it. Hah, I'm not really interested in anyone." He saw how Suna was teasingly smiling at him, so he had to return the hit somehow. "I think it will be wise to focus on that guy of yours." He gave the same teasing smile Suna gave him previously, trying to get even more reactions from her part, which he found amusing and not something he was able to do every day. [break][break] Moving on to the sword fight, where the silver mage was unaware of Suna's combat style and true skill with the sword. This was different from a magical battle where the battle could easily be determined by the person who had the highest magical power and it was easy to tell just by using their spells. In a sword-fight determining such skill was tougher. Charles took a step back dodged the incoming attack from Suna remaining with his guard up, the silver mage blocked the incoming jab from the blue-haired elf and counter-attack with a jab to the front. If Suna moved back or blocked the attack, the silver mage would move back raising his sword into a defensive stance. In the same way as Suna, Charles was measuring Suna's fighting style in order to find out any weaknesses or openings in her movement to deliver a proper strike. Though, the Black Bull figured that Suna will probably be doing the same thing, so if wanted to gain the upper-hand he would have to get smart and switch his movements as the fight progresses. [break]
Suna bit down on her bottom lip. There it was again, the mention of the Green Mantis’ vice captain. Whoever this Artemis was, she must have been dearly beloved by all those who knew her. The elf personally did not know her, nor met her, but all seemed to hold her in high esteem. She could only imagine what the poor boy had gone through, as well as the other people involved in the daemon invasion. Not only were there bodily casualties, she was sure that there were nightmares that no spell could heal. At least, not the physical kind.
What Charles said next made her smile. "I thought all Magic Knights did was train in their free time." She said lightly, a little jokingly. But she was glad to see that the youth was growing up. Recognizing and admitting that one needed improvement was the first step, one that she has gone through a few times herself.
The youngling continued to poke fun at her special someone, much for her enjoyment and embarrassment. The blue-haired female put on a mock frown, but her blue eyes were filled with mirth. "You just wait until you find that special girl, then you’ll understand." She waved a finger at him. Then an idea popped into her mind. Perhaps she should get together and assemble a little mixer, maybe introduce this young man to a couple of nice girls. Hmmm… The more she thought about it, the more it sounded like a good idea. The only problem would be finding some good potential candidates that might catch his fancy.
But now it was time for some sword swinging. Charles had dodged her first attack, then blocked her jab before following up with his own attack. Good thing she had gone back into defense, so she was able to parry the jab. Not bad. Seeing him go on the defense now, Suna struck out in a quick cross formation, then jumped to the side. Her blade was not meant for heavy hitting, as it was more like a rapier than a greatsword. But what it lacked in power and size, her Cadenza made up in speed and flexibility of handling.
Without missing a beat, Suna bent her knees lower and swung an arc, aiming somewhere near her opponent’s legs. One thing she had picked up when training was to always be alert for an opening, and never miss a chance to go on the offense if she could recover quickly from it. Back when she was first learning how to spar, the Crimson Lion vice captain had taught her the importance of not getting distracted. Then the captain had jumped in, and taught her that though anticipation was the game, reaction was the true strategy.
Of course, she was far from being proficient at any of this, but she was slowly learning, and this little session would also definitely help. After her two attacks in a row, the elf jumped back slightly out of reach and reset her defensive position, ready to block or defend any attacks that may come her way.

Vice-Captains played a fundamental role inside a squad, maybe Suna didn't know how much influence someone with such a position held inside the squad, Charles didn't blame her if she wasn't aware of that. They were regarded as the second-strongest member in the squad, they helped out the Captain to manage the squad and would usually lead the squad in the event the Captain is absent. They were held in such high regard and were usually known inside the squad. By the looks of it, it's likely the Wizard King is going to send some Captains, Vice-Captains, and other lower-ranking magic knights to deal with Sven at some point. It was clear the Archdaemon was going easy on them. [break][break] "Hah, not all of them. I'm a clear example of that, I'm just considering doing so because I don't have any other option." The silver mage replied to Suna with a laugh, you could very well find it strange or even unreal that someone like Charles mentioned something like training. The Black Bulls were known as the squad of misfits with personality quirks. Charles's quirk being his massive laziness with his impressive perception and analytical ability, he would probably be better right now if he wasn't so lazy. [break][break] Charles's teasing had some effect on Suna, he was somewhat curious about the type of person she had those feelings towards, though it was mainly for his own amusement. Though she stated that he would feel that way when he meets the right person. "Alright then... We'll see..." [break][break] Having successfully dodged and blocked her attacks. The next moves in the fight will be decisive as to who would obtain the upper-hand. Unlike a greatsword, Suna's rapier focused on speed. Delivering swift blows when possible, this meant that even a slight mistake would be enough for the blue-haired elf to gain the upper-hand with a quick attack. As Suna struck with a quick attack, Charles successfully blocked it. Her sudden movement as she was aiming for his legs, caught Charles who was not really experienced in sword-fighting off guard, he immediately took a step back, but his reaction time wasn't fast enough and got scratched by Suna's rapier. There was a significant height difference between the two, something Suna used to her advantage. Certainly, that type of sword was the most adequate to her body which made her movement more fluid. The mistake costed him greatly and if he was with a more experienced fighter it was likely he would've been defeated. "...Seems like I have to be more careful next time." [break][break] Now that Suna moved to defense, it was time for the silver-mage to counter-attack. Well aware that his legs were his most vulnerable parts. The Black Bull would have to adapt and make his legs a harder target to hit, it's likely he wouldn't be as lucky as he was last time and Suna might go for the finishing move if he isn't careful. Charles moved up, swinging upwards with the sword moving downwards trying to use his height as an advantage, but this time his arms stretched out. The silver mage swung an arc that moved towards Suna's right arm. After attacking Charles took two steps back and took a defensive stance, this time focusing more on his legs as they were his most vulnerable parts. [break][break] This was his first time ever fighting with his sword against someone else, this would be a good learning experience for him. As he would learn from his mistakes, reinforce his weaknesses, and improve his strengths. [break]
