“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
"I’m going with you."
The elf repeated again before going on about how they could take on the daemons together despite the man's protests. Hans listened with concern in his eyes. He was happy to hear her say this, want to fight by the merc's side, but his worry, and concerns were far greater. No matter if she comes along or not, the risks are just too high. He didn't want to risk losing the sound mage.
He then spoke his piece, trying to put Suna's mind at ease before attempting to go in for a kiss...but his lips instead pressed against the woman's palm. Hans opened his eyes and blinked a few times in confusion before moving his head back a bit to look at her. Suna was making it clear that she wasn't going to take no for an answer, and Hans had honestly not seen her this stubborn before. Perhaps he wasn't the only one who did a bit of changing ever since the start of this relationship...
"Suna, come on..." His tone was low, and quickly overshadowed by her speaking again. That cute little pout of hers....and those eyes...it all left Hans speechless. He couldn't think of anything to say in return, and just looked at the blue elf until she went in for another, tighter embrace.
"I...I don’t want to lose you..."
Hans' heart nearly sank at those words, a light gasp escaping his lips. He wrapped his arms around Suna, giving her an embrace of his own. "Suna....I promise you won't lose me." Something he was unsure of, but he needed to keep that strong front going...for her. "I'm sorry Suna...but you can't come." He shook his head before closing his eyes. "So please...please stop asking." This pained Hans just as much as it probably did Suna, but he needed to put his foot down. The merc would never forgive himself if anything happened to Suna. "I'll be back...don't worry." He then opened his eyes, remembering something he had heard about earlier while...selling flowers.
"But there is...somewhere you could...hmm...join me at." He shifted his body so he could face her again. He wasn't exactly too fond of the idea, but with Suna with him, it shouldn't be all that bad...hopefully.
"Their planning some kind of...Spirit Ball at the Royal Captial...and I would like for you to accompany me...as my...date...?" Hans' cheeks grew a little flushed, something he thought he wouldn't be doing around the elf anymore. He didn't know much about these occasions other than...the dances which was enough to send a shiver running down the man's spine, but he kept his cool. "So...how about it? I'll bring flowers this time." ......He won't.

If she was being stubborn, then the mercenary was being doubly so. She could understand why he was acting this way, since she would have done the same in his position. He was being so insistent, her resolve was being shaken. She had seen him being deadly serious before, but that paled in comparison to his insistence this time.
"Suna....I promise you won't lose me."
"Y-You promise?" Only if he gave his agreement would she be able to rest her fears. Promise...she trusted his word, and that was enough for her. At his persistence, she slowly backed down. Since she could not go with the dark mage, then she had better spent as much time as she could with him. "Okay, I’ll stop asking then."For now. He had looked so much in pain just now, she did not want to press it further if it really hurt him that much. But just because she stopped asking did not mean she was not still thinking about it. She was simply letting the matter rest for a little bit before bringing it up again. An idea popped up in her mind. Maybe...
"But there is...somewhere you could...hmm...join me at."
Join him? At what? Another job? Or maybe a dungeon? Then he went on to mention the Spirit Ball, and before he could finish his invitation she was already bobbing her head up and down. "Yes! Of course!" She got up to her feet from her kneeling position, then brushed off the dirt from her knees. She had heard a few tidbits here and there about it, and it sounded like a fairy tale event. She had planned to go regardless of whether Hans asked her or not, but now it put her mind at ease knowing that she would be going with an escort. An escort? Nay, more like a partner.
"Flowers? Just bring yourself." Now up on her feet, she tugged at his arm. "That means I’ll have to think about my costume then...hmm..." It was still some time away, but it was never too early to start planning what to wear to the festival. Honestly, she had been a little surprised that the mercenary asked her about it. It was not in his style to attend the fancy-sounding gala...perhaps he was doing it for her?
Either way, the elf was already excited and looking forward to the celebration. It was held at a strange timing, with the daemon attacks and all, but she supposed that this was to be a morale booster. As for what to wear... She needed ideas. "You think we can go back to your old home? I saw that there are a few drawers in there, maybe we can find something we can use for the ball?" That is, whatever was left that has not been stolen and resold already.
Assuming that he would agree, Suna would climb over the fence and drop down lightly to the other side. Brushing herself off, she started towards the old Hans residence, mind already whirling with possibilities of what she could wear. Definitely something blue and white, her signature colors. Since it was a formal event, maybe something more elegant and classy? Perhaps...
"Oh dear, I forgot...the takeout food is still back out there..."
“When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
"Yeah..." Hans nodded, looking straight into Suna's worried eyes. "I promise." Hans was not sure if he'd make it out of that place. He managed to do so once, but it felt more like a miracle. The man was going to have to work hard to keep his promise, but he could at least take solace in knowing that Suna will be out of harm's way...he hopes.
The elf backed down, and with that a warm smile appeared on the dark mage's face. Gently, he brushed a strand of hair from the sound mage's face. He knew it must pain her to have to stay behind, not being able to be there to make sure that the guy was safe, but Hans was not going to risk it. Not knowing what to expect once he returns to Kikka, Hans might be there for a long time...so he's going to have to try his best to spend time with his woman as much as he can.
Then the idea about the Spirit Ball struck him...
Before Hans could even finish, he watched as Suna quickly excepted the invitation and quickly getting to her feet. Hans appeared a bit lost at her sudden actions at first, but it was quickly replaced by a light chuckle before getting on his feet. The dark mage had a feeling that she'd like this...but didn't expect her to be this excited. The merc wishes he could share the same enthusiasm...but these sort of festivities weren't exactly his style. But he was doing this for her...and that alone would be enough for Hans to get by that night.
Plus it shouldn't be all that bad....right?
Despite what Suna said about the flowers, Hans was going to make it his mission to bring her some...and fail of course!
She tugged at Hans' arm, only furthering his rugged smile at how enthusiastic Suna was being...but then she brought up costumes which nearly slipped Hans' mind. If Suna hadn't brought it up, Hans would've probably just went with his same old look...like every other time. He'd definitely stand out if that happened. "Huh...Almost forgot about those." Hans had part of an idea on what to do for a costume.
Not being skilled in the...fashion department, the man might just have to get some help, and the only place he knew that could...was that modeling place. Looks like poor Hans is going to have to swallow his pride and head back there, but he'll also need to make a hefty amount of yul. Perhaps he could kill two birds with one stone?
....Hans was already loathing the idea...but again, it's for Suna.
"Hm?" The elf then requested something that came off as a bit odd to Hans. "You want to go back there?" Hans asked, raising an eyebrow. His old home was run down, and he doubted that there would be much there, especially with helping Suna find a wardrobe. But then again Hans could be wrong. It's not like he did a complete inspection of the place last time he was there. "Hmm sure, if you want." Hans wasn't going to protest. It was going to be nice visiting his old home again, and this time under better circumstances....with just the two of them.
After Suna jumped the fence, Hans did the same, but not before picking up his katana, and landed beside his partner. He looked at her, and gave another nod before the two ventured off...but then the elf stopped and mentioned something about the takeout food.
Hans simply turned to face her and tilted his head slightly. "Uh...huh?"
